Dancing Days Are Here Again For Hillary Clinton?

It was one of the happiest days we’ve seen her spend on the campaign trail in weeks — and given the last few days, a much needed one.

Hillary Clinton started her Sunday morning at an evangelical church in Puerto Rico, swaying from side to side and clapping her hands as a band and choir played Latin-infused Christian rock. After changing from a serious turquoise pantsuit to a more festive pink floral top, Clinton hit the beach — grooving to the sounds of salsa music while watching a live dance troupe.

Following a leisurely lunch by the water and a 9-minute speech featuring a debate challenge for Barack Obama, Clinton changed costumes again — this time back to the turquoise — for her speech on Cuba, then headed to the bar to shake hands with the locals in San Juan.

While there, she ordered a Presidente, a Dominican beer, drinking a toast with her Puerto Rico advisers. On her way out the door, she advised two traveling TV reporters that they were free to start drinking as well — before stopping to groove for a few seconds to the Enrique Iglesias hit “Be With You” with a certain Fox producer.

That’s right: I danced with Hillary Clinton.

The Senator’s dance party didn’t continue into the night — at least, not as far as I know. Clinton enjoyed a late meal with staff at her hotel in San Juan before retiring. She hits the campaign trail with her husband on Monday, joining up with her daughter to wrap up her three-day swing through the commonwealth before catching a plane to Washington.

First let me say,,I am for Hilary,,Obama has no agenda,, He running on nothing more than Corporate Media hype,
Every seems to be caught up in this Barack Obama Magic show. since the media is pushing Hilary out ,, and certain democrats, then 75% to 80% Hilary voter will do what Obama supports said they will do,, Obama support seen on CNN and Msnbc saying if obama don’t win the primary, they are going to vote for McCain, well since then Between certian Democrats and Corporate,,, there already a campaign of Hilary supporter,,
Even if Hilary decide to back Obama, up to 80% of hilary supporter will not vote for Obama or flat out vote for McCain,
I voted for Hilary and no matter what, I will not vote for Obama and better yet, I will not waste my vote, I will vote for McCain, I do think America is ready for a black President, Not Obama, and better yet ,, Obama voter now are saying if you don’t vote for him it Racist, I am not going to Obama because he is a Fraud, No more No Less, Not because he black or white, just because on every single one of his debates He could not answer a hard question for the simple fact they gave them to Hilary,, not only that, everything Hilary said she was going to do, Obama Agreed, with her every single time,, and uses her way on his campaign, Obama needs the other half of Hilary Votes, to win against McCain, and that is a fact, ,,,, Remember if Obama supporter can say they will VOte for McCain if Obama don’t win, then guess what All Hilary voter are uniting and doing the same thing,, what goes around comes around,

I love this story! Thanks for reporting on something positive for a change. Good grief, it’s about time. I think Hillary is an awesome lady, and I hope she will eventually secure the nomination. She’s certainly shown me that she has what it takes to lead us out of this disastrous economy. Seeing her campaign as hard as she’s been campaigning makes me proud to be an American. I’m confident she’ll be able to restore our good name around the world and get our economy back on track. I like her. I trust her. She’s one of us!

You know BO won’t while he goes around challenging McCain to debates he backs down from Hillary, he must be afraid the truth might come out that he has nothing compared to her.

He is a true hypocrite, the way he goes around saying he would be happy to have a debate about this or that but when Clinton steps up he runs, lol.

Good to see Hillary having some fun even if it was brief.

Now that the media has beaten Hillary up all weekend, do you think maybe Axelrod’s lobbying firm can come under scrutiny? Specifically CORE? Funded primarily by Commonwealth Edison (hmmm, wasn’t that Ayers’ daddy years ago?).

Then you have Obama claiming he wants affordable health coverage for all Americans, yet Axelrod’s lobbying group ASK bid on a contract to help BLOCK Illinois hospitals from having to provide more medical care to the indigent.

Of course the media could go after Daschle and others on Obama’s campaign, but for some reason they are stone silent. More manipulation of the media to force Obama down the publics’ throat?

Wonder why when Obama was in the Illinois state senate he didn’t close all those lobbying disclosure loopholes?

I am happy that Senator Clinton enjoyed herself. She has had such a long, tiring campaign and has had to put up with a lot of adversity from the media. If Obama has any guts, he should meet her to debate the issues. GO HILLARY!

Comment by Hillary Pollswell

In the interest of staying fair and balanced, I’d like to make a suggestion though it’s not a positive one for the republican nominee (whom I’ll happily vote for if Hillary isn’t the dem nominee). When you bring up polls, please note how Hillary does against Mr. McCain in the same polls. Yes, in the polls you mentioned, McCain beats Obama by 2 (Thank God) but in those same polls, Hillary beats McCain by 4 -5. Regardless of what you think her chances are, she still has them, is still running and deserves to have her numbers in those polls quoted in the same segment as McCain v.s. Obama. You folks have easily done the best job of earning the “fair and balanced” label to this point - don’t stop now.

It was good to read about Hillary Clinton doing a little relaxing in Puerto Rico. She needed to soak up a little sun, have a few beers and relax with friends and family. After the RFK incident you could see the terrible strain on Hillary’s face. Both she and Barack Obama have worked so hard during these past several months and must be exhausted. I hope both can find more time to take a deep breath now and then.

Comment by Duke Nebraska

Hillary drinks beer like a WUSS! She ’sipped beer’ out of a bottle for heaven’s sake.

Jeez - nest thing she’ll do is start crying again and try to get votes that way.

Just go away Hillary into the Dust Bin of History like Reagan said of the Soviet Union.

Comment by Ulises Jorge

O.k… that is very nice, but why did she choose a Presidente (imported beer from the Dominican Republic) and not a Puertorrican beer (a Medalla, for example)? I thought she wanted to ear votes, so why no cater to the tastes of the local beer drinkers..? he he…

Comment by Sytlvia

Guess she’s her happiest when she’s in a bar guzzling down beer. The old evil woman is a lush-head.

Comment by SUNSHINE

By definition, if she was the best candidate shouldn’t she be winning by the rules???

Clearly she is not the best because she is broke, behind in delegates (which are what counts) and lost by almost every metric except New Clintonian Math.

This is not sexism, its not a con-spiracy, its called losing and you need to learn to do it gracefully. They use polls about the electoral college, but then reject the delegate math and use popular vote for the primaries… ITS INSANE!!!

The system is delegates and electoral college, you can’t pick and choose when you use one or the other. This is not a 3rd world country or Russia when we just appoint her president because she tells us she is best…. she needs to win the actual election.

Comment by one yes

LOL, who cares. She won’t be the nominee and she can beg all she wants for another debate. Booooring. On to the GE

Comment by Ulises Jorge

“While there, she ordered an El Presidente, a Dominican beer, drinking a toast with her Puerto Rico advisers…”
O.k.. so she was with her “Puerto Rico advisers” and not of them told her that it would look better with the locals voters if she ordered a local beer instead of an imported one? Boy, I’d like to see how that would play with the local beer drinkers.. he he….

This is so sad.
How forlorn she looks.

The name of the beer is not “El Presidente” it is “Presidente”. I know it because I am dominican, however to know that a famous person like her choose that brand from my country, make me feel proud of that product made in Dominican Republic for the world, even though in this case it is used for political reasons, to send the message that she could be the first american woman to become president of United States of America. Viva la Republica Dominicana

Comment by Elaine

Why does Hillary always think it necessary to have a bottle of beer in her hand? Not the image of the kind of President I want to see. No class, no grace.

Comment by Doug

Day by day, hour after hour, Hillary is becoming more and more delusional. This is pathetic.

Comment by Lois

Hillary, Hillary, Hillary….. Nothing to comment about the dance BUT, a lady should still be a lady regardless if running for President, CEO or PTA President. I’ve really had enough of you drinking beer from a bottle. Stop trying to be one of the “boys” and drink your beer from a glass. Show some class. There is nothing wrong with running with the “big boys” but remain true to your self.
Lay off the booze and maybe you can keep your head straight and not make ridiculous statements which I will not mention.
This race has affected you in ways that will take deprogramming to clear up.
Stop the demand for a debate. It’s only to try and raise funds for you and try to make a fool out of Obama. We just want this over… and soon..

Comment by Allen Crider

All she was doing is copying Obama, who danced in a parade yesterday. There’s nothing new here, except getting the lush vote.

Comment by Matt G

I wonder how many pollsters were used to determine:
a) if her approval rating would be affected by a display of dancing?
b) if there would be a net benefit to her dancing, should she employ the “white man overbite” or the “running man”?

A Puerto Rican newspaper gave a series of recommendation this week to Hillary on how she should make herself over in order to win more votes.
Things like:
1. Don’t act so dry, removed, and serious,
2. Don’t wear such severe suites, fabics and colors
3. Wear light lipstick colors, etc. etc.

Hillary, who would make a chameleon look like a pre-schooler, immediately implemented the recommendations rapidamente. No more silksweater sets, with the sleeves around her shoulders…

I can think of several women who, right now, would have run their campiagns far less disorganized, and been more consistent in their messages.

Let’s come up with a woman who is truly viable! It’s insulting to think that this is the best that American women deserve!

As a resident from Puerto Rico who now lives in the USA, I can say that even if Hillary won in PR in wont matter. PR is not a state, Puerto Ricans don’t vote in general elections. Heck, their congressman doesn’ t even vote in Congress. SO this election doesn’t matter. Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth of the USA since 1952 and Hillary cannot do much to change that. Only the people of Puerto Rico can decide that and they have voted time after time against statehood. They want to preserve their culture, language and Spanish heritage. Even if she were to win 6 delegates there, it wont matter, Obama is way ahead of her. The popular vote argument will not persuade superdels as the rules are the candidate with the majority of pledged delegates is the winner. Obama has earned this nomination. It is Hillary, with her new -found inner blue collar persona, her invocation of RFK , her constant accusations of perceived sexism, the gender card playing , and so on who has botched her own candidacy. Only Hillary is to be blamed for her loss. It is time to grow up and see the truth.

Good grief!

Viva, Hillary! Hillary has the ability to connect with everyone on the campaign trail. Our country is made up of diverse interests & people—let her be diverse. I’m glad to see her dancing and having a beer. She is human and has worked hard to improve the lives of millions of Americans. If it wasn’t for Hillary so many of our children would not have health insurance. She made sure SCHIP got passed. Before you criticize her, take a look at what she has done not only for women internationally, but for our country. Don’t think any of you could accomplish one one-millionth of what she has accomplished. She has been put through the fires, villified, insulted by sexist, misogynistic comments and she still carries on. I challenge any of you to be able to do that and keep standing. There is not one other American female politician that could withstand the attacks that Hillary has endured. I’m ashamed of our American press and the Democratic Party that has insulted her and not defended her amazing political record. She does not brag about what she has accomplished. That is what I admire about her. She is a tireless worker for our American families and I would like to see her as our U.S. President—-she would get things done and done for the right reason–to help our American families, not for her own ego. Wake up, people!
