McCain calls Hagee statements “crazy and unacceptable”
done
STOCKTON, CA — Sen. McCain told reporters Thursday that he decided to renounce Hagee’s endorsement Thursday because the controversial pastor’s Hitler comments were “just too much.”
“Well, I just think that the statement is crazy and unacceptable. And certainly Reverend Hagee, Pastor Hagee, is entitled to his views. But we’ve reached a point where that kind of statement simply, I would not, I would reject the endorsement of the expression of those kinds of views,” McCain said at a press conference after a rally in northern California. “But also I’d like to make something else clear. My church that I attend is the North Phoenix Baptist Church. My pastor, and spiritual guide, is Pastor Dan Yeary. I’ve never been in Pastor Hagee’s church. Or Pastor (Rod) Parsley’s church. I didn’t attend their church for twenty years. And I’m not a member of their church. I received their endorsement which did not mean that I endorsed their views. But the comments made…most recently by Pastor Hagee are just too much.”
(Note that no McCain comment on Hagee goes without a subtle dig at Obama’s 20-year relationship with controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright.)
The presumptive GOP nominee’s on-camera remarks come after the McCain campaign released a written statement rejecting the endorsement today.

HILLARY WHO IS STILL HERE?
OH, YOU MEAN THAT WOMAN THAT DOESN’T KNOW WHEN TO THROW IN THE TOWEL, AND IS REALLY STARTING TO LOOK LIKE IT COULD BE A PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITION OF WHY SHE ISN’T STEPPING ASIDE?
IF HILLARY LOVES HER COUNTRY LIKE SHE PROFESSED THROUGH ” ALLIGATOR TEARS” PRE-NEW HAMPSHIRE, SHE WOULD SERVE HER COUNTRY BEST TO STEP ASIDE AND JOIN JOHN EDWARDS IN BACKING THE NEXT DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEEE - BARACK OBAMA.
HILLARY STILL HAS A SENATE SEAT IN N.Y., WHICH COULD BECOME IN JEOPARDY IF SHE CONTINUES TO TRY AND DIVIDE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
GAME CHANGER: JOHN EDWARDS ENDORSEMENT.
GAME OVER.
WHY IS HILLARY REFUSING TO HEED THE WORDS OF AMERICANS? IS THIS THE KIND OF PRESIDENT SHE WILL BE IF SHE EVER WERE THE PRESIDENT? WE HAVE A PRESIDENT CURRENTLY (BUSH) THAT TOO, BELIEVES HE SHOULD “STAY THE COURSE” IN THINGS , AND YOU SEE WHERE THAT GOT OUR COUNTRY INTO –WAR AND FURTHER DEBT!
HILLARY IS IN HER DISBELIEF AND ANGER STAGES. HOPEFULLY SOON SHE CAN GET OUT OF HER CURRENT ” DENIAL” STAGE AND ENTER INTO HER “ACCEPTANCE” STAGE, SO WE AMERICANS CAN GET ON WITH BEATING MCCAIN IN NOVEMBER.
TIME FOR HILLARY TO ACCEPT HER LOSS, GET OUT OF DENIAL, –ALL FOR THE “LOVE” OF HER COUNTRY SHE PROFESSED TO HAVE PRE-NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY TIME.
HEY HILLARY…WE AMERICANS HATE TO BOTHER YOU, BUT WHERE ARE YOUR INCOME TAX EARMARK AND PORK BARREL SPENDING RECORDS??
RECORDS THAT YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD RELEASE AFTER THE MARCH 4TH PRIMARIES?
OBAMA HAS BEEN TRANSPARENT IN RELEASING HIS RECORDS AND BECOMING PUBLIC
RECORDS. WHAT IS HILLARY HIDING AND CONCEALING? WHERE DID THE MONEY COME
FROM FOR HER LIBRARY?? MARC RICH? THE CONVICTED FELON BILL CLINTON PARDONED
ON HIS VERY LAST DAY IN OFFICE?
AMERICA WANTS CHANGE, NOT THE STATUS QUO POLITICS HILLARY BRINGS TO THE TABLE.
IF YOU CAN’T BE HONEST WITH YOUR TAXES AND EARMARK SPENDING RECORDS, WHY SHOULD AMERICA TRUST YOU
WITH OUR NATIONAL ISSUES AND WELL BEING?
AMERICA WANTS CHANGE, HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY.

Bravo, but if you’re going to go on a rant like that, don’t forget about Peter Paul vs. Clinton.
John McCain just made a serious error in judgment by “unaccepting” endorsements from two ministers who are prominant in the evangelical community. He should have simply pointed out these men’s views on A B AND C were not in accordance with his beliefs. That he respected the work Hagee had done to help Israel and Parsley had done on ———- but their views on a number of important things differs.
He should then have more cleary stated that the endorsement of these men was in no way analogous with Obama’s minister for 20 years–mentor–baptized his kids and married him to that bitter “whitey hating” Michelle since he never attended their churches. He kind of said this, but it needed to be clear and pointed!
McCain. You need new advisors to help you massage touchy situations like this to clearly seprate yourself from some ideas (by the way if you don’t think Islam is inherently violent read the Quaran and read the history of Mohammed’s life and conquests/conversions by the sword) that you don’t believe have merit but don’t denounce these popular men outright when that really was’t necessary.
You have already insulted and disinherited a lage part of your base. At our
Conservative Enthusiasts club last evening, I was surprised how many will NOT vote for you even when faced with Obama.
You’ve had a hay day making nice with liberals (the Global Warming thing against the scientific mainstream is pretty alienating as is your open border policy), but time to give some of what should be your base some reason to even vote for you let alone contribute or campaign!
McCain. You need a good campaign advisor (Karl Rove?) who understands the packaging of political reality.
Teleprompter and Dave. Please stay on topic–John McCain and his dis-acceptance of the endorsements.
Obama responds with class while McSame is crass
Hagee refused to disavow comments. He told talk radio show host Dennis Prager, “What happened in New Orleans looked like the curse of God… . It was a city that was planning a sinful conduct.”
the United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God’s plan for both Israel and the West… a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ.”
pastor hagee endorsed McCain in feb 2007.
.
yes .your candidate, selling fear and hatred.
that is plain Evil. No McCain
Bigjohnson,
While Hagee’s comment are inexcusable, at least McCain didn’t sit in the pew of his church for twenty years cheering on his hateful comments.
it is the same you sat on it . one day ,20 days , 20 years,
to make matters worse, they showed Hagee on tv when he endorsed McCain back in 2007.
this was a political endorsement.
the catholic church has perverts ‘ i still go to church . i hear other priest.
i dont see these priest give political endorsemnts..
that is a big diffrence.
that idea of winning votes back fired. shows he would do anything to get a vote.
he is a lie.
i am sorry. maybe you dont understand.
i may go to church every week but that doesnt mean i see the same priest hear the same sermon.
diffrence, political endorsement . we are talking about the politics side and the acceptace of it.
obamas rev, actually put him down. said he was just like big politics in washington and he would take him down. that is before all this came about. thats no endorsement that is more like someone you new for 20 years and then back stabbed you.
constotutionally all public servants have to seperate church and state. accepting political endorsements from any religious group will start to question all denominations poiwer of influence.
i am not going to change your mind, just to show you a diffrent angle. most everyone have made their mind up anyway.
good night
May 22, 2008): “Democrats Should be more Democratic” (RCP) - great article about undemocratic caucuses!
——————————————————————————–
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/art…ore_democ.html
Quote:
There was unfortunate symbolism in Barack Obama’s choice of Des Moines as the place to celebrate his delegate milestone on the day of the Kentucky and Oregon primaries. The Iowa caucuses were the first contest of the nominating process, and Obama’s success in them launched his campaign into the big time. But they were also the start of a deeply undemocratic process.
The caucuses produced no vote count. There were no secret ballots — but instead a public two-hour tussle that disenfranchised many parents of small children, shift workers and those who couldn’t drive in the dark. Certain caucus-goers enjoyed several times the clout of others — it depended on where they lived. The result was not an election of delegates but of “delegate equivalents,” a term with an Orwellian ring.

The seven dwarfs always left to go work in the mine early each morning.
As always, Snow White stayed home doing her domestic chores.
As lunchtime approached, she would prepare their lunch and carry it to the mine.
One day as she arrived at the mine with the lunch,
She saw that there had been a terrible cave-in.
Tearfully, and fearing the worst, Snow White began
Calling out, hoping against hope that the dwarfs had somehow survived.
‘Hello!…Hello!’ she shouted. ‘Can anyone hear me?
For a long while, there was no answer.
Losing hope, Snow White again shouted,
‘Hello! Is anyone down there?’
Just as she was about to give up all hope,
she heard a faint voice from deep within the mine, singing . ….
‘Vote for Barack Obama! - Vote for Barack Obama!’
Snow White fell to her knees, crossed herself and prayed,
‘Oh, thank you, God! At least Dopey is still alive…
If John McCain is a member of a Baptist church, his pastor Yeary’s views on Catholicism, the Rapture and more won’t be all that far from John Hagee’s. Why doesn’t a good investigative journalist ask him some hard questions about those topics, and not let him off the hook until he tells the truth?
McCain has renounced God and shall be punished for his satanic evil wickedness. All who support good over evil should vote against the evil tyrant McCain.

In the last two days we have been fortunate to watch two of our great news networks, CNN and MSNBC, trying to make McCain’s brief contact with John Hagee equivalent to Barak Husssein and Michelle Obama’s 20-years relationship with Rev. Wright and the racism promulgated by Black Liberation Theology which the two worshipped for so many years. This is their attempt to neutalize the Obama-Michelle-Wright relationship. It is a truly pitiful example of biased media in action … these people have to be on Obama’s payroll.
It is apparent that relative to this story, Campbell Brown (representing CNN) and Keith Olbermann (representing MSNBC) are in a strong competition for the “A$$hole of the Week” award. Who will win … I’m betting on Olbermann.

so what do you think of Foxnews reporting the same story, are they too on B.O payroll. It shows your biased opinion towards candidates. If its fair to report it on one candidate its fair to report it on all candidates.
It is amazing to me that the religious Right and the religious Left claim to be from the same Christian heritage. Their Behavior gives religion a bad name.
Clearly, both of these extreme views should not be in the political mix.
Its funny how people can justify and twist topics to fit thier view point
some of the things hagee says is right on point.
None of the things Rev wright says is on point.
Mccain is not at all inconsistant for seeking Hagees endorsement and then disowning it. He did not know that hagee had said these things/had these view points before he accepted the endorsement.
Mccains acceptance of the Hagee endorsement was strike pandering to the Evans that have high jacked the Republican Party.
Just because Senator Obama attended service for over twenty years doesn’t mean that Rev. Writght 1) worked every Sunday, 2) and preached hate. It is amazing that after 35 years of sermons, only ONE sermon is questionable. Hagee and other pastors have MANY sermons that are questionable.
The real sin here is that McCain seeked these individuals out without doing his homework. This shows a REAL laspe in judgement. Once again Fox and Fox viewers, thanks for directing me to REALLY checkout Sen. Obama. I wouldn’t have thought about giving him serious consideration until now.
Did someone recently escape form the madhouse?

I was proud of Obama’s reponse to this issue. He said he knew McCann did not share the pastors views. McCann should also respect Obama’s statements, but when he threw in the remark about 20 years I lost all respect for McCann who said he would not resort to personnell attacks. McCann’s response to Obama’s question on the GI bill was also below the belt and inmature! McCann apparently has no moral ethics and its blantently clear his word means nothing! What ever Obama has had to deal with he remains calm and to the point without using charature attacks. Thats the quality I want in a President. Even Clinton has lost it emotionally. Clinton and McCann both scare me!
Obama’s Wright connection is MUCH, MUCH Worst than Anything McCain is being accused of by Obama supporters.
McCain ‘08
If we are out of the political mix, does that mean we do not have to pay taxes?? NO TAXIATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!
I keep hearing about this Peter Paul vs Clinton law-suite. Where can I find more about this? If you know more, why aren’t you bugging the media?
Too much soap opera drivel going on here.
Evaluate the candidates by their voting records, political ideology, spoken word, behavior, and associates.
By these measures, one can make an informed decision. Anything else is a distraction and therefore, irrelevant.

God help us all,
There were many more that 1 sermen from Wright. He did teach hate and that is where Michelle Obama gets it. There will be a tape coming out on how Michelle Obama feels about “whity” those were her words. How about her being caught on take while seating people for a rally saying “we need more white people here” Sounds like staging to me.

Funny how people who do not want the race issue brought up is always bringing it up. And then there’s Fox news fair and balanced reporting. What a joke. Hagee has made a many unsolicited remarks that boarder on ridiculous and now it’s so what. Rev. Wright said what he said. Obama said he attended that church for the work they were doing in the black community and the chruch takes hits for trying to better the black community. The same community, that has been talked about here, that supposedly is the only ones on welfare and have single parent homes. Most of you clutch your purse when a black person walks near you for fear of a mugging no matter how they are dressed. He’s got nothing.
Obama is young, intelligent, cool-headed and gracious.
McCain is old, uninformed, angry and demeaning.
We report, you decide.
I wish Foxnews would play Pastor Hagge’s preaching and comments 10% of as much time they play the 30 second bite of Rev. Wright. I read about the comments but I have not been able to see them despite searching for them. Is that fair and balanced? Is it all done that McCain says that he rejects the comments. DO REMEMBERBER THAT OBAMA WAS ONLY A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH AND MCCAIN WAS BEGGING FOR LONG TIME MACGEE AND OTHER PREACHERS FOR THEIR ENDORSEMENTS JUST TO GET RADICAL RIGHT VOTES.

Mcain sought for over year the political endorsement(s) of Hagee and Paisly. Now he asserts that he denounced statements he made immediately upon learning of them, which is false; took him several months. Even for public embrace, Rev’s sermons were available on the net. Stupid to get seek political endorsement, and not check person out. Now damage is done to catholic voters (big block, Hispanics etc) and jewish voters. Furthermore questionable ties to lobbyist. He always stated he was against this, but sounds all bit or a lot hypcritical. Also not showing up for new GI bill in senate, instead rather be at fundraising party.

It is really a moot point. A conservative christian pastor would never endorse the party that believes in k!lling the unborn. Plain and simple, Mc did not have to seek anything.
“if I voted based off perceptions…”
You are voting for Obama based on his policies, experience and judgment? I’m stunned. His policies are all counterproductive, his experience in the Chicago political machine and running for president as a senator are laughable, and his judgment is lousy based on his choice of friends, minister and political fixer. What could you vote for other than his persona?
“and secondly your racist and biggot thoughts are what are anti American.”
Choosing to speak out against Obama is neither racist or biggoted, it’s politics. He has nothing to offer and his postions are awful. He is a political hack, only a fool would support him.
Well, I already tried to make one post, and I don’t know if it got rejected by someone who screens this or whatever, but I’ll make another one, hopefully it will get posted.
On Mccain’s rejection of Hagee and Parsley endorsements:
I would suggest to anyone who actually cares about the Truth, particularly those who call themselves Christians, to actually bother reading their Bibles.
You know, if you actually read the Bible once in a while, you would actually know what it means to be a Christian, and one of those things is understanding the consequences of sin: both our own and that of other people and nations. This is what John Hagee’s statements, which were very much Biblical, regarding Israel were referring to.
As a Bible believing Christian, personally I do not endorse any of the major candidates running for president, since none of them have any beliefs that actually coincide with the Biblical world view other than a few coincidental issues.
As usual, Bible believing Christians, that is, those who know anything more than just the names of two random books in the Bible, will be left with choosing between a bad candidate and a worse candidate, in no particular order.
“God Bless America” indeed.
We need all the help we can get if we are in for another 4-8 years of this.
ari,
You know better then that (I think). McCain did not seak out anyone specifically; rather the religious rights endorsement. If you are neutral, as you have stated, then I wouldn’t expect you to slant the facts. If you’re for Obama then say so and debate facts and issues.
Ari,
I apologize. I didn’t look at the time of your post and should not have addressed you when you were not on line to reply. I’ll try not to do that again. Sorry

Anyone who has actually read the Bible would understand where Pastor Hagee was coming from. The profits of the Old Testament predicted that the Jewish people would be scattered through out the world and that eventually they would return. The events (holocost) as well as the Inquistion and the general distrust and hatred for the Jews was actually necessary for them to return to Jerusalem. So when Pastor Hagee said that the treatment for the Jews during WWII was necessary he was actually refering to scripture. Anyone finding his words offensive should try reading the Bible. I am not a member of pastor Hagee’s church, but I am a member of Christian’s United For Isreal which was started by Pastor Hagee. The organization has actually releived some of the distrust that the Jewish community feels towards Christians because of our actions over the last 2,000 years. Once again our organization supports Isreal both finacially as well as through prayer. Anyone who says Pastor Hagee’s coments were reprehesible is falling prey to the Political Left. On the Catholic issue, read your history books. The Catholic Church persicuted and tried to convert the Jews to Catholism for a thousand years at the same time denying their followers any understading of what was actually in the Bible by keeping them illerate. My intention with this response was nor to rant, but to illustrate to the media and those who would blindly listen to them that there are other sides to every story.

Remember from Genisis God said to Abram (not yet Abraham) that he who blesses him hsall be bleesed and he who surses him shall be cursed…this was also said about Jerusalem. Pastor John Hagee has an absolute love for the Jewish people. Aske the Jewish people who know the pastor how they feel about his so called “reprehensible coments”
sorry for the spelling
BAsicly, its what the Bible prophesied:
People are losing their conscience.
Whether in government, school, or the work place, we are not allowed to say anything unless everyone else agrees with it.
But there are two examples I would point out to Christians, as well as all voters, that are found in the Bible.
Elijah and Micaiah were each put in a situation where they were telling the truth, but “everyone” else called them a liar, or told them to shut up, etc, because nobody wanted to hear it.
The truth isn’t always popular, in fact, it very rarely is popular.
Majority decision doesn’t make it right any more than 2 wolves voting that the lamb is for lunch.
Senator Obama has distanced himself from his former pastor…has he yet distanced himself from his church?. the last I heard from his church is the hateful words coming from the new Senior Pastor…just curious
I agree whole heartedly with Wade Smith…although I’m with the wolves, I eat lamb at least 3 to 4 time a month.
McCain correctly called called Rev. Hagee’s statements “Crazy and unacceptable”.
Obama has never called his mentor’s, Rev. Wright, statements crazy and unacceptable.
Obama for years sat through countless of Rev. Wright’s anti-semitic, anti-white, anti-America, anti-etc. sermons without a word. Based upon Obama and Rev. Wright close relationship (friend, pastor, mentor, and adopted uncle) they must have had many one on one discussions about their mutial beliefs on the subjects.
Rev. Wright said that Obams’s reaction to his anti-semitic, anti-white, anti-America beliefs was purely political.
Rev. Wright knows Obama better than we do.
[...] like, say, Jesus. so as long as McCain can avoid calling the Sermon on the Mount “crazy and unacceptable“, and Jesus can refrain from returning to Earth on a flight of cherubim and telling McCain to [...]
Yesterday was clearly a disaster for McCain, and few seem to be really talking about it.
I’m not sure what was more damaging, his association/disassociation with Hagee and Parsley, or his choice to participate in an interview on Ellen Degeneres’s show.
Both sealed the deal for McCain. The religious right will be abandoning him in droves…Bob Barr is looking better every day…
Been reading through some of the comments above. Are all of you Fox lovers insane or just a chosen few?
Mr. McCain needs to apologize to pastor Hagee for his rude and ignorant ramblings before I ever vote for him. I can understand why he threw pastor Hagee under the bus but he does need to apologize. The things pastor Hagee says are in the Bible, you have to read the Bible as a whole to understand it. This is political nonsense, nonsence, nonsense, McSane you are nonsense and uneducated in different religons, trying to please everyone in America and in turn stab kind loving people in the back. I guess it was nonsense about a year ago also in July when CUFI had their big conference in Washington. Nonsence can tell the American people about this also, he won’t be apart of this again because he can’t associate with nonsense pastors like Hagee. What a back stabber he is.
Obama President, Clinton VP. An uppity coloured boy and a ball-breakin’ woman together at the top. The worst result in living memory for the Republicans in the Presidential election plus a rout in the House and Senate. No doubt about it, right wingers, you are going to suffer as you have never suffered before.
Hopefully, you’ll do a little growing up in the process and finally purge your party of the religious nutcases that were so handy in bulking up the vote over the past few years but have ultimately destroyed the GOP. Wealthy people, genuine conservatives and the nutjob god-botherers never made for a stable coalition in the long term.
Think how much clearer things would be if religion and politics were separated, as they are in the rest of the civilised world. You vote for the party that best represents your wants and needs, and select candidates for their personal qualities. Let all ethical/religious matters be decided on a non-party conscience vote and hold the individual candidates responsible for their decisions.
I think Barak Husssein Obama might have a shot at this thing now. It’s apparent that the left-wing media, which is nothing more than an extension of the extreme left, liberal component of the Democratic Party, has placed itself in motion to begin it’s attacks on McCain now that they have pretty much destroyed Hillary Clinton (although she didn’t do much to help herself).
Check out Blitzer, Olbermann, Matthews, and the other news clowns over the next few months if you want to observe our pitiful excuse for an independent media in motion. They will try to neutralize anything negative that surfaces relative to Barak Husssein Obama, while at the same time highlighting everything they can find negative about McCain.
Pastor Hagee and Pastor Parsley teach from the word of God and they can always reference what they say. It’s just that there are those who don’t want to hear it. I believe for John McCain to turn on these men has cost him 1000’s of votes. Pastor Hagee’s church has about 20,000 members alone, but has 10’s of 1000’s of followers nationally and internationally for that matter. Some judge these men, but don’t know anything about the word of God. This is why these men were sent to teach us. I wonder if he talked to these men to allow them to point these things out in the word before he dumped them. I hope that no one judges these pastors before they can disprove them by the Bible. Many of the Jewish community love Pastor Hagee for the work he is doing through his church and Christians United For Israel (CUFI). Over $30,000 000 I understand has been given by his church alone. Sen. McCain, these are HIGHLY respected men in the body of Christ–not a wise move.
It is irritating to take time to type a post and they don’t post it and nothing I say is ugly,,,just simple truths.
I agree with Wade Smith and Vi…I had more to add but I am not typing it a third time.
But those who have not read the Bible…you have no business commenting here…because you ignorance shows to those who have. It would be like me tring to comment on how an airplane flies…you would know quickly I was a fool!
McCain tried as hard as he could to get the endorsements, and he knows it.
Now he is the Nominee, he doesnt need them anymore,
so its no big deal to throw Hagee under the bus.
In the past he called Hagee a “Good Friend”, now he is running from him.
Not to mention McCain is acting like he never knew that Hagee was a nutbag….
Well, thats very hard to believe, either McCain is out of touch with politics, or he knew Hagee was a nutbag and is now lying about it.
To me, McCain should be toast just over this fact alone.
