Nomination Still Up For Grabs, Clinton Claims
MAYSVILLE, Ken – Hillary Clinton defiantly claimed the lead in the popular vote and in big states today to make the case that she’s the most electable Democratic candidate – and that there will be no nominee after tomorrow, even if Barack Obama has a majority of pledged delegates.
“This is nowhere near over,” she said at a high school gym in Maysville this morning. “None of us is going to have the number of delegates we’re going to need to get to the nomination, although I understand my opponent and his supporters are going to claim that.”
“I believe that when tomorrow comes we will send a message to this country. Because right now, more people have voted for me than have voted for my opponent. More people have voted for me than for anybody ever running for president before. So we have a very close contest,” she said.
Clinton pressed the importance of Michigan and Florida in the process, and claimed that based on primary results in the states that have already voted, Obama would be much weaker candidate against John McCain — suggesting, contrary to what she’s said in the past, that he can’t win in November.
“The states that I’ve won total 300 electoral votes. If we had the same rules as the Republicans, I would be the nominee right now,” she said. “My opponent has 217 electoral votes including places like Alaska and Idaho, and Utah, and Kansas, and Nebraska. And many of his votes and his delegates come from caucus states, which have a relatively low turnout.”
“So anybody who’s really analyzing this and saying, OK, we did not go through this long campaign to lose in the fall. We cannot afford to have four more years of a Republican president.”
And she had a message for anyone who thought she’d drop out after Tuesday’s contests in Kentucky and Oregon – which she’s expected to split with Obama. “I’m going to make my case, and I’m going to make it until we have a nominee. But we’re not going to have one today and we’re not going to have one tomorrow and we’re not going to have one the next day,” she said. “If Kentucky turns out tomorrow, I will be closer to that nomination because of you.”
“If Kentucky votes big tomorrow, we are going to keep going and we’re going to keep fighting and we’re going to keep making our case because you can’t win the presidency without winning Kentucky.”

Of Course, the Nomination is up for grabs and it is all your H.R. Clinton
unless, of course, the DNC and the Super delegates steal it away from you and give
it to Barack H.Obama. You know him, the inexperienced guy, who can only give pretty speeches,
who is lousy in debates, who won’t answer a direct question from a professional journalist, who
can’t think on his feet, who has to respond to an attack the following day, that is when his writters
give him a clever retort…
Just because the man is black is no reason to give him the most important position in the world.. The President of the United States of American, a World Power… An awsome position…
Need an aswome leader such as H.R. Clinton… America lets make sure she becomes the next president!!!!!!!
Maybe it’s going to be Miss Independent? I mean Mrs. Independent. HRC

When Hillary Rodham Clinton questioned rival Barack Obama’s ties to 1960s radicals, her comments baffled two retired Bay Area lawyers who knew Clinton in the summer of 1971 when she worked as an intern at a left-wing law firm in Oakland, Calif., that defended communists and Black Panthers.
She’s a hypocrite,” Doris B. Walker, 89, who was a member of the American Communist Party, said in an interview last week. “She had to know who we were and what kinds of cases we were handling. We had a very left-wing reputation, including civil rights, constitutional law, racist problems.”
Malcolm Burnstein, 74, a partner at the firm who worked closely with Clinton during her internship, said he was traveling in Pennsylvania in April when Clinton attacked Obama for his past interactions with William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, members of Students for a Democratic Society who went on to found the bomb-making Weather Underground.
“Given her background, it was quite hypocritical,” Burnstein said. “I almost called the Philadelphia Inquirer. I saw what she and her campaign were saying about Ayers and I thought, ‘Well, if you’re going to talk about that totally bit of irrelevant nonsense, I’ll talk about your career with us.’ ”
In her campaign for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, Clinton has said little about her experiences in the tumultuous late 1960s and early 1970s, including her involvement with student protests and her brief internship at the law firm, Treuhaft, Walker and Burnstein. She has said she worked on a child custody case, although former partners recall her likely involvement in conscientious objector cases and a legal challenge to a university loyalty oath.
But her decision to target Obama’s radical connections has spurred criticism from some former protest movement leaders who say she has opened her own associations to scrutiny.
“The very things she’s accusing Barack of could be said of her with much greater evidence,” said Tom Hayden, a leading anti-Vietnam War activist, author and self-described friend of the Clintons.
Robert Reich, who went to Yale Law School with Hillary Rodham and Bill Clinton and later served in the Clinton administration, called Hillary Clinton’s attack on Obama “absurd,” adding: “That carries guilt by association to a new level of absurdity. Where does guilt by association stop? I mean, she was a partner of Jim McDougal in the 1980s, for crying out loud.” Reich is now an Obama supporter.
In response to the assertion that Clinton is a hypocrite for calling out Obama’s ties to Ayers, campaign spokesman Philippe Reines said: “The comparison is patently absurd.” The campaign played down her friendship with a noted student protest leader and defended her work with the Oakland firm. “At the time she worked there, the firm was primarily at the forefront of civil rights advocacy cases, which was a good fit with Senator Clinton’s long-standing interest in civil rights and constitutional law,” Reines said.
Clinton’s associations date to her years as a student leader at Wellesley from 1965 to 1969. It was the height of student opposition to the Vietnam War, and Carl Oglesby, the president of Students for a Democratic Society, came to campus to speak.
“I gave a talk at Wellesley, where she was a student,” Oglesby said in a telephone interview from Amherst, Mass., where he is recovering from a stroke. “I can’t say that I was a close friend of hers. It was more of a passing acquaintance. I liked her. I think of her as a good guy. I think she has a good heart and a solid mind. And I support her in the current primary.”
Oglesby had been close to Ayers and Dohrn, but the couple split with the more moderate SDS factions to form the Weather Underground, which engaged in a bombing campaign to try to stop the Vietnam War. The FBI monitored Oglesby throughout the period.
Hillary is still trying to say she has the most popular vote. What she doesn’t say is that her numbers include Michigan where Obama wasn’t even on the ballot and Florida whose state she agreed before the primaries that they wouldn’t count. This is the kind of tactic that has gotten Hillary to be despised by more than half of America and even her prior supporters in the party.
Hillary Clinton will be the nominee - she is a FIGHTER - and she is QUALIFIED
We will not tolerate obama and the media pushing her out!
Obama is NOT Qualified - and will never win due to his WEAK and questionable background
Mr. Paul - you are WRONG - get your FACTS correct!
FL & MI are the exact reason that keeps Hillary and her supporters FIGHTING - for ALL votes to be counted. The people did not break the rules the leaders did - did you have a choice in your vote date????
In MI - a revote was scheduled and funded - Obama blocked it!!!! FACT!
In FL - he does not want votes to count - as cast - because he did not win.
Nobody signed a contract saying these votes would not count - they all agreed not to campaign in FL or MI - only obama did - TV ads! Obam is now trying to claim victory - real fast - because he knows the DNC meets on the 31 of May - and he will loose!
Get it right - or don’t even post!
washington post did they used to be a news paper
Sirs, In your piece on Hillary in Maysville today, you put up a map highlighting “Kentucky” and
Oregon…………….. Sad to say, your Kentucky was in fact……OKLAHOMA!! What gives?
Regards, KMS, Mexico City
Obama gets no votes from MI. He took his name off the ballot and he blocked a revote. Fair is fair!
Obama “symbolic victory” rally tomorrow is part of his ploy to do an end run around the Democratic presidential nomination process and swipe the nomination from Sen. Clinton. The presidential nominaton process is still in progress with several states still to vote their presidential preference. Every vote must count.
The integrity of the superdelegates calls for them to use their independent judgment, with no regard to any “delegate math,” to select Sen Clinton as the best qualified presidential nominee after the primary season ends and MI and FL are resolved.
Sen. Clinton’s campaign continues in her fight for the future of America and all Americans. All rational Democrats need to support her campaign by making frequent contributions at HillaryClinton.com.
For America and us I hope the DNC will see the light and nominate Hillary but I have some serious doubts. They all are a bunch of smacks paid by Obama. DNC will hand the White House to McCain because a lot of people will note for Obama.
Rumor has it that there is a tape where Michelle Obama in the church and she calls the white people ‘whitey’ - that will end Obama chance of being elected. The media sits on the tape until the DNC gives the nomination to Obama - watch and see how many more skeletons will pop-out from Obama’s closet!

HILLARY CLINTON WILL BE THE NOMINEE - She has the popular VOTE!!!
Just because obama & Clinton are both DEMS - they are NOT the Same
Hillary IS QUALIFIED
obama is NOT Qulaified
That is the BIG difference!
Hillary supporters will never vote for obama - he is not qualified! Hillary EARNS ALL her votes and does not ignore states like obama that he cannot win.
Hillary is betting on Obama self-destructing. He has shown some areas where he is really, really vulnerable: His experience, wife, friends, pastor, foreign policy, lust for tax increases, entitlement spending projects, unwillingness to share his plans, patriotism and rumor has it that there is some news story that hasn’t been released yet the will utterly destroy him.
Remind me, why does anyone support Obama in the first place? Oh, right. Hope and change. Hope for what? Who cares. Changing what to what? Doesn’t matter as long as mean old George Bush doesn’t like it. That’s right Obamabots, stick it to the man!
Obama has won one of the last 6 primaries and that over 30% black. This hardly looks like someone who should get the nomination. The reason the DNC is trying to push him in is because he’s black. This guy is a joke with all the red flags sticking out of him. Haven’t we given the blacks enough, now they think we’re suppose to give them the hightest office in the world.
All of the comments for this story reflect the lack of unity within the Democratic Party. What makes either candidate experienced enough to lead anything? One blows a coronation and the other once did blow. There is so much chemistry between these two, they’ll be missed.
“Haven’t we given the blacks enough, now they think we’re suppose to give them the hightest office in the world.”
Obama is where he is because he is very clever. He knows that he isn’t going to win people over with his ultra-liberal policies that are bound to fail. He knows that no one would look at his experience and think that he is ready to be president. He knows that the more we learn about him, the less we will like him. He is running his whole campaign based on the color of his skin and his ability to weave hope and change into a bunch of cliche speeches. He is running on image, nothing more.
I think Hillary is talking about the 2012 nomination still being up for grabs!!!!!!
Obama had adds playing in Florida. Obama refused a re-vote in Michigan. Is this the change we want?
The republicans have a tape of Michelle Obama in Rev Wright’s church calling white people “whiteys”
which they are going to release in Oct.
Michelle is a very angry woman, who doesn’t like white people and thinks American is mean, and she’s not proud of our country.
This is part of the Obamas puzzle that is slowly being put together.
These people are anti-american, racist, liars. Obama will lose in Nov.
I have decided to drop out as I realize I have no chance of winning. FL and MI were smokescreens. Even if the votes counted, I still would have lost.
Please vote for Obama in November.
Regards,
Hillary Clinton
Obama evidently doesn’t need Florida, Michigan, West Virginia, and Kentucky. He can’t win Penns.
Ohio. How stupid can the super delegates be?
Tima after time the democrat party elects a far, far left liberal radical for the nomination, then we lost in the general.
It’s time for the supers to step up and do what they are there for…….endorse the candidate who CAN WIN in the general election. Hillary Clinton
There is an Obama rally in Tampa Florida on Wed. May 21st. starting at 10:30 am.
There is a “turn your back” protest going to be at his rally.
I don’t even know why he is breaking Howard Deans rule, that he agreed to, of no campaigning in Florida until after the Convention, but he is!
This is Florida’s first opportunity “to turn their backs on him’, just as he turned his on us.
Here is the time, date and location, of the protest. It is at his rally.

How in the world does Hillary think she can win the nomination. According to the figures that I have she has to pull 308 more delegates.
Obama only has to pull 142 more delegates.
There are not 308 delegates remaing that I can count.
I do see what she is trying to pull off and that is she is leading in the popular vortes in the KEY states and says she is most electable than Obama.
She is going to want to change the rules after the voting is over.
She is so dishonest it is pitiful to even see her running for any Public Office.
The State OF NEW YORK should be ashamed to have her as a Senator from their State.

BOTH DEMOCRATS “AND” REPUBLICANS VOTED TO PASS THIS BILL and was put into Law in August, 2007. OBAMA REFUSED TO VOTE ON IT. He does Not appear to want to Secure America for further terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.
7/26/07 Vote 284: H R 1: This amendment to the Homeland Security Act of 2002 was made in order to implement the recommendations made by the 9/11 commission. Different versions of the bill were passed in the House on Jan. 9 and in the Senate on July 9. A modified version of the bill, with conference report changes, was revisited on July 27 and passed by a vote of 85-8. The bill requires the inspection of all cargo traveling on passenger aircrafts and establishes the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. This panel, suggested by the 9/11 commission, is responsible for advising the president and senior White House officials maintaining respect for privacy laws and civil liberties. Other provisions of the bill include grants to states, urban areas, regions, or directly eligible tribes to be used to improve the ability for first responders to react to and prevent terrorist attacks, according to the Congressional Research Service. The bill also outlined details regarding the detention and treatment of captured terrorists. The bill was signed into law by President Bush on August 3.
What nomination are they talking about? Who cares who wins the nomination. None of these people will change your lives, you need to. You know if the politicians you voted in aren’t doing there job THE PEOPLE can have them removed. American’s need to hold the people that are voted in accountable. If the American people want to be taken seriously this would be a good start.
I have decide to drop out because I am anti-american, and a racists liar. My wife Michelle, will be exposed in Oct. by the GOP. She opened her big mouth again and called you whiteys, whiteys in our church.
I have tried to make the GOP afraid to run any adds about Michelle. But they won’t listen to me.
Michelle and I will be renewing out membership with the New Black Panter Party after the election.
Also William Ayers and Louis Farrakhan are planning a trip to meet with Hamas and we will traveling with them to talk about how we can make Israel tow the line.
We have taked to Rev. Wright and he is coming back to our church as a senior pastor to help Rev Moss.
Other plans of ours include traveling to Kenya and help my my cousin Odingo stamp out Christianity
there.

i see obama has taken offence to tenn repub party attacking michelle. well,if that bothers obama, he should stop using his wife from giving speeches on the stump. otherwise she is fair game.
I’d say Hillary is right… Obama still can’t clinch the deal. If he was so wonderful, why hasn’t he reached the magic number yet?
Besides, I think Obama is a riskier choice for President than Hillary; and I’m a republican!

My friends, Ayers, Dorhn, Farrakhan, Rezco, Wright, Moss, and Ondingo, have been very supportive and they know I can’t win
As it was said by another person here….. the American People have the ability to protest and remove a President.
This is a long interview for the job of President, and the People are the Boss who hires the President…. and The People can fire too!
As a UK watcher I am very interested to know who will be your next President. The day Bush leaves the White House will be a huge relief.
I am hoping and praying that Hillary Clinton will be your next President. Hillary has the experience to take America forward. I asked folks at work if they have ever heard of Obama..one said “Obama Who?” All my work mates have heard of Hillary Clinton. I am sure one day Obama will be President but not now. Hillary has the strength..she is a strong woman and she will be an excellent President if you vote for her.

They can protest their little hearts out to no avail.
I hope people realize that many, many Hillary Clinton voters will not support Obama. I for one will either not vote or vote for McCain and I have never voted Republican before in my life. Reading the posts from the people supporting Obama give me concern. They so want Hillary to drop out of a election that has not ended yet. Is there something wrong with that? I think everyone should have the right to vote for the person that they believe to be the best candidate but I guess Obama supporters have a differant view. Can’t you all just see Michelle Obama in the white house as first lady, snarling and frowing and
calling people whitey, preaching to American about how mean we are and how ashamed she is of us?
PURE SPECULATION ON MY PART
I beleive that how long the Banshee keeps fighting is directly related to when the Rezco verdict is reached and what that verdict is.
I beleive that in the minds of her strategists, a guilty verdict will give her the ammunition to convince the convention that BO will be vulnerable in the general election.
Dave
Why did you support Hillary in the first place, Gender, race or policies. Do tell
Then so be it McCain will be president. I do not follow party lines when I can not in anyway support this person so I suggest Obama supporters get over it. Let what is going to happen happen. If McCain wins he will be the next President. He at least is middle of the road and not so far to the left that it scares me.
The only way its not over is to cheat! I want to scream when she talks about Micigan and Florida and how she cares about their votes! She signed the D&C agreement and is on tape saying they will not count! The only reson she wants them to now count is because she needs them! And, if the will of the people is so important to her, explain her trying to win by over-rideing the will of the people! Obama has played by the rules and she is trying to cheat the system! The media should not allow her this spin that makes Obama seem like he does not care about the people as much as she does! Shame on the media for allowing her to spin her lies! Everytime she says she cares about Micigan and Florida, the media should play the tape with her saying they will not count! And also say she sighned the D&C agreement! To ignore this information mis-leads the public!
This is an Example of one of the Bush policies that Obama does Not want on the ballot. A policy that WOULD PROTECT OUR COUNTRY FROM TERRORIST ATTACKS.

Oh, I don’t know about that.
I kind of enjoy the fact that my puny little income was part of the tax breaks. BO considers me as one of the “Wealthiest Americans” at my miserable $39k a year.
I’m rather pleased that we haven’t had another 9/11 since 9/11.
In spite of the current crunch, I was happy to see my income increase each year along with the 60 odd consecutive quarters of growth in the US.
The list goes on.
Be very careful what you wish for. You may get it.
i am very mad at the dmc for doing this to hillary. and the dems will be so sorry they voted for him and put him in the highest office.he will get us into a nuclear war. with iran.

I like you. You sound so much like a woman. You let yourself be ruled by your emotions. Once you calm down, you’ll see that I am right and then you will vote for Obama.
All the best,
Hillary
It was not that I support either in the beginning but he is too far to the left for me. I am a middle of the road Democate and the party has in my opinion abandoned us a long time ago. I do not and have never believed in voting for a candidate because he is from one party or another. This I find to be something I could never do. I vote for the person and he I feel is not the right person at this time. I’m sorry if this upsets people but we will see in November if I am right or not. I really could be wrong but I don’t believe so.

Sigh.
Another voice from the wilderness.
Do you have any clue what the DNC rules actually state about the duties of Super Delegates?
Do you understand that when BO was the ONLY person to reject a MI & FL re-vote plan (k!lling the deal), he effectively released the Banshee from her prior commitment?
BTW, DNC stands for Democratic National Committee.
D&C stands for Dilatation and Curettage. Let’s not go there, shall we?
Hillary is the only chance America has right now… Give it all you’ve got girl!! We are behind you 100 %

Dave,
I lost fair and square. You need to get over it and vote for Obama. Otherwise, McCain will be president and he’ll continue GWBushs’ policies. Nobody wants that.
==========================

You are truly funny. You’d make a great comedian.
George Bush has the lowest approval rating of any president ever! (Even lower than my hubby when he was in the middle of Monicagate.)
Nobody wants GWB any more except for a few crazies.

Crystal,
I dropped out. Vote for Obama. He is a much better candidate than me.
How very sad. If you believe that everyone that can not support Obama is ruled by emotion then you are the type of person that I have a real problem with. You have a right to vote anyway you see fit but so do the rest of us. How sad that Obama supporters can not understand that. I am starting to understand Obama supporters more and more. I really think I made the right decision

Obama broke the rules when he ran adds in Florida. Neither candidate signed anything so get your facts straight.
If Obama is so into bringing people together why wouldn’t he agree to a revote in Mich.???
Obama is a fake.

Call me crazy then. It’s funny, because although his job rating is low, he has one of the highest personal approval ratings for Pres in history. Odd, that. The folks don’t like what he does, but they think he is an honorable guy.
But, this isn’t about GWB.
It’s about liberal loons trying to drag the country into the Euro-Union and the “World Community.”
It will fun fun watching you folks froth and foam for another 8 years.
Will it be Obama/Clinton? or will it be Clinton/Obama?
It is interesting.

From a political standpoint, the Banshee can blame no one but herself. The nomination was hers to lose and she got c0cky.

Andylit,
George Bush has a low personal rating. He is not trusted because of his lies concerning Iraq.
Oh but he did give up golf to honor the soliders who’ve been injured.
Very funny Mike!
