Obama Draws 75,000 in Portland

At a rally today in sunny Portland, Barack Obama spoke to some 75,000 people, according to the campaign. The mammoth crowd stood on Waterfront Park in downtown Portland adjacent to the scenic Willamette River. People even came by boat and kayak to catch a glimpse of the likely Democratic nominee.

“Hello Portland! Wow. Wow. Wow,” he said as the crowd chanted “Obama!” Looking out at the seemingly never ending crowd, he said, “We have had a lot of rallies around the country. I think it is fair to say that this is the most spectacular setting for the most spectacular crowd that we have had in this entire campaign. This is unbelievable.” He added, “It doesn’t hurt that it’s a perfect day.”

Previously, Obama’s biggest crowd was the night before the Pennsylvania primary, when the candidate spoke to 35,000 on Independence Mall in Philadelphia. While he ended up losing that contest, Obama’s expected to win big here in Oregon on Tuesday.

Check out the size of the crowd here.

Obamas gonna need those 75000 since everyone else including Hillary’s people

will elcet McPain in november. America wants a tough negotiator not an appeaser.

If Obama abandoned the politics of appeasement he might catch less flak

from the EVIL Bush.

Comment by Wascally Wingnut Wival

Poor sad wingnuts. You have taken such pleasure in seeing silly old Rev Wright (not Obama) saying the same dumb things over and over again. There are all sorts of clips of McCain (himself, not associates) flip-flopping like crazy, totally contradicting himself. The Keating business will be gone over with the finest toothed comb, as will Cindy’s drug thieving and McCain’s bullying of the whistle-blower. If you want a sneak preview of what will be looped Rev Wright-like over the next few months, go to bravenewfilms.org, watch, and weep.

Years and years of Democratic control of House, Senate, Administration and judicial appointments. Oh boy - it is going to be GREAT!

WOW Thats a Super Bowl sized crowd. Now if those 5000 or so people that went to Hillary’s last rally will quit dreaming and join us we can send those Republicans packing.

Comment by Doomster

How will Obama the socialist appeaser attract the votes of mainstream

and traditional voters? He’s only got the loony left so far. Anyone can plainly see that’s what’s

happening. I ask of thee?

Comment by Tim the Truth Teller

Wow, what a crowd. Let’s face it, he’s our next President. Even I am beginning to believe this is the next great president and I’m as racist as they come!

I personally think Obama would be worse than Jimmy Carter best case. I quite frankly couldn’t care less what race Obama is, I just don’t trust the man due to his associations with terrorists and Rev. Wright.

I don’t know how I wound up on a FOX sight but since I was on here thought I’d read a few of the comments. Now it makes sense to me why this country is in such a mess! This is the Bush crowd right? Well, get over yourselves! The country finally (!) figured out what a miserable failure Bush has been (took them long enough!!) and thankfully we’ll have Obama for the next eight years to START unraveling the MESS that Bush and friends made! Trust me, between the war, the economy, our ruined reputation in the world, the deficit etc etc, it will takes DECADES to fix the mess you Republicans (or should I call you all globalists?) have gotten us into! All for a few lousy tax breaks!!! Let me ask you something - how much value have your houses lost? Maybe you’ll think twice this time and vote for someone with a brain! I don’t need to have a beer with my President!

Young, smart, intelligent, energetic, honest… What a radical change compared to what we had so far! And it doesn’t hurt that the world will stop seeing us as a nation where a significant segment of population underwent prefrontal lobotomy… Go Barack!!!!!!!

Anyone wanting drugs should simply contact Cindy McCain. She can get them to you for free. Sex is available by calling the McCain Viagra line or putting in a direct call to Bill Clinton.

McCain’t and Bush were too dimwitted to understand that the Iraq war has made us less safe, and Bin Laden is still cutting Video tapes.

We elected a moran for 2 terms, so we might as well elect a man with melanin in his skin who smarter than both of those Republicans put together.

Obama is going to kick some butts come November. I hope McCain has got a soft pillow to sit on.

Comment by Doomster

Appeasement done RIGHT!

Comment by Jimbo

You think Bush was bad? Wait till Obama takes over - the bad guys will be dancing in the streets. BY, BY MISS AMERICAN PIE- IT WAS GREAT WHILE IT LASTED!!

Comment by Jayne

Also, yes McCain has many old problems (I don’t mean his age - I mean problems dating back to the Keating 5 scandal which he managed to escape) but I’m much more interested in the people he associates himself with now - lobbyists - people get smart - unless you are filthy rich this guy isn’t going to do a thing for you. Yes, you get to keep your guns (whooppee - noone was going to take them away anyway!) but the rich get all of our money under McCain and the hell with us - the hell with us re:health care, the hell with us re: poor people who are getting thrown out of their homes, the hell with us - if your company ships jobs overseas and you lose your jobs, too bad for you if your pension is lost and the CEO gets all the company money - in other words - the hell with all of us!!! And when you get ready to retire you better have saved a lot of money because McCain is going to reduce SS benefits and raise the retirement age.

When I read some of these blogs, I can’t help but consider what people such as the Amish would think of them, particularly the comments that refer to how bad we have it now. The Amish even protested successfully to stay out of the social security program. LOL. I was parked near the local Mickydees yesterday. At one point I witnessed no fewer than 15 cars lined up for drive thru and with gas at four bucks here. This is in NE Ohio where things are supposed to be really tough. Do you really think that John Kerry would have kept the bad guys from coming back over here. Some of you need a reality check.

It’s time for the haters to put there head’s between there legs and run. The right is scared now, but let me tell you’ll something and that is there no need to be scared. We have suffer enough for 8 long years an attack on the trade centers, done under the bush watch, they knew about it and didn’t nothing to stop it. With 2 wars, high gas, food and health care cost. What some of you’ll have learn or got the clues too is that this war is the cause for it all. We are hated around this world because of Bush and Karl the Clown Rove and the dicks and donald. Bush went to the mideast on his knees asking for more oil and they told him HELL NO!!! That should tell you’ll something and that is that they hate him. No watch as soon as that clown leave office the gas will go down and when they see American can make a change they just might do the same. We are the Super Power but with the clowns and fools we have for a leader for us is hurting us in more ways then one. If they want to fight a useless war they need to pick up there AK’s and run over there. I have done 2 tours over there and I love this country but this is a war we don’t need to fight. We need to go after the ones who attacked us. One day this country will be back on top and the way we are going to get there is by change washinton and the clowns we have there. WoW 75k that an eye opener and he just got my vote. We are about to see history and the change that we have been asking for and watch the change that we will see around this world we they see us standing together. That will put us right back on top. God Bless Us All. Obama 08′

Hillary started with major advantages: a big pot of superdelegates, a big pot of money, and the Clinton name.

She lost, because she made a humongous error in thinking she’d wrap things up early, and then was not flexible enough to adapt her strategy and tactics to recover.

She blew the finances of her campaign, and due to a combination of that and poor strategy and tactics, was not able to be competitive in states with caucuses, which require a lot of organization in each state.

She began to self-destruct, making up the big clinkers about Bosnia and Northern Ireland, and repeatedly claiming “35 years of experience” qualifying her to be President, which was clearly incorrect, since it covered her entire adult life. This raised character issues that made her look unfit to be President.

Instead of campaigning as a Democrat, she borrowed the Rove playbook, and started trying to kneecap her opponent, doing her best to make him unelectable in the general, so that she could claim to be the more electable candidate.

The latter is when the calls for her to get the heck out of the campaign started. If she had run a civil campaign, she could have stayed in forever and the worse that would have happened would have been comparisons to Harold Stassen once she reached the mathematically can’t win point.

As to the Nightmare ticket, her behavior in the campaign has made that impossible.

She does not have the popular vote. Her calculations claiming that do not include at least some of the caucus states, and include zero votes for Obama in Michigan.

The responsibility for her implosion rests squarely in her lap.

Go, vote for McCain. Anyone who cares so little about the issues that really matter to this country and the world is not a Democrat anyway, and it speaks even more badly of your candidate that her supporters would, for example, value the lives of U.S. servicemen so cheaply that they would do so.

Comment by Obama Resign

I have just returned home from the Nevada Democratic Convention in Reno. Hundreds of Hlliary delegates did not bother to show up. Because of that, Barack increased his delegation to the DNC convention from 13-12 to 14-11.

Bill showed up to give his pitch for the Mrs., but resigned himself to talking about party unity and only mentioned “electabillity” once and “Hilliary” twice. He looked saddend, expecting that “the lady” will soon sing.

There is a need for Hillary fans to soon get over it and work on stopping John McCain from extending the Bush years to 2012.

Hey, now, folks. There’s a lot of hate being tossed about in these comments, particularly toward Obama and those of a more Democratic-leaning mindset. You all need to let that hate go. Quit hating, relax. Obama is likely to be your next president, really. So, instead of swearing about it, maybe you all ought to take a breath, relax, and figure out how to help your man McCain. Or better still, start figuring out some future plans and policy positions for 2012 and beyond. Eight years of nearly complete Republican control hasn’t really helped the country or your causes. So, you need to figure some new things out. In the meantime, quit spewing hatred.

I traveled from Washington St. across the Columbia River to catch a glimpse of our next President Of The United States. What a great day and what a great man!

I quickly want to say I have never been to a political rally before and I am a 40 yr old male. Senator Obama captured my imagination as the man to take us out of the funk we are currently experiencing with higher gas prices, staggering health care costs and the seemingly endless war in Iraq just to name a few issues. I’m not hearing the correct answers from the right side of the aisle about these issues. Just a bunch of “tit for tat politics” as Obama calls it. He would rather see a hard fought campaign that doesn’t bring down the other guy in a political mudslinging campaign, but brings fourth his own options of solutions to our nations’ problems.

Personally, I found his speech so uplifting I couldn’t help but think about the ways I could contribute to his campaign without spending too much of the little bit of money that my family could afford. I guess this is my way of saying that we need change to what is happening in the White House today and for the past seven years. The time is now for us to rise up and vote for change this upcoming election in OR and especially this November. Vote for change and tell someone else you believe they can make a difference by voting for Barack Obama!

There was a large crowd to see Obama in PA, too. I think it was about 35,000. Obama lost that state. I think people are just showing up to “look”. Afterall, it Is history in the making. I don’t think he’ll win in November if he’s the nominee, but at least he’s made it This far. It’s exciting to be part of history. I don’t think the large numbers mean any more than that. I could be wrong.

I just spent the last two years in Oregon. I have heard from various camps that this state will be a close race. Have these people been to Oregon? If you don’t experience something first hand, how qualified are you to make a judgment? Isn’t that why we have local, state, and national governments? Isn’t there supposed to be a stream of consciousness from local to national levels? Isn’t that our system, isn’t that why we as a country have great potential? The 24 hour news channels do not have the same system in place. They are a private enterprise. They are for profit. Does trying to persuade our perception of reality change our minds enough to fit that proposed reality? This crowd proves otherwise.
