The real issue is not how well Clinton, Obama, or McCain might do in closely divided battleground states, but that we shouldn’t have battleground states and spectator states in the first place. Every vote in every state should be politically relevant in a presidential election. Every vote should be equal.

The National Popular Vote bill would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states. The bill would take effect only when enacted, in identical form, by states possessing a majority of the electoral votes (270 of 538). When the bill comes into effect, all the electoral votes from those states would be awarded to the presidential candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states.

The major shortcoming of the current system is that candidates have no reason to worry about the voter concerns in states where they are safely ahead or hopelessly behind, because the winner-take-all rule awards all of a state’s electoral votes to the candidate who gets the most votes in each separate state.

The National Popular Vote bill has been approved in legislative chambers in Colorado, Arkansas, Maine, North Carolina, and Washington, Maryland, Illinois, Hawaii, California, and Vermont, and enacted into law in Hawaii, Illinois, New Jersey, and Maryland. These states have 50 (19%) of the 270 electoral votes needed to bring the law into effect. See http://www.NationalPopularVote.com

I'm with you Candoo!!!

I will never vote for Obama simply because he has no substance. We don't hire rock stars for the most important job in the country. I've been a Democrat for over 35yrs but this year I will switch to McCain if Hillary isn't the nominee. We'll wait until 2012 for Hillary to make a comeback.

The media has been getting away with disgraceful remarks about Hillary for too long. If you have a message for the media and their role in this...

We should be grateful that such a decent human being as
Senator Hillary Clinton is willing to take on the job of
president. As a public servant who works for human
betterment, she is the gifted individual and leader that
Americans, the United States, and the world need at this
juncture in time. Her broad experience and sterling record of
results alone suffice. But she has much more to offer:
integrity, compassion, tenacity, inquisitiveness, intelligence,
viable solutions, and innovativeness to resolve the serious
problems facing our nation. How refreshing to hear a
candidate state that she wants to be held accountable; that
she will be the president of all people and of all groups; that it
is time that we start behaving and doing things for the
common good; and that we are more alike than different.
This is wisdom and true understanding - attributes that
Americans long for in their next president. * * *

I can just imagine after Obama is elected and he goes over to talk to Osama bin Laden, or Ahbadinijad and says, "Ok, I'm in the big seat now. Now, how do we take it down."

Okay Hillary supporters, start your engines. We all need to UNITE and make sure obama doesn't win in November.

Let us ALL stand tall and proud "IN PROTEST" against the DNC, barack obama and his supporters for their horrible treatment towards OUR HILLARY. There are millions and millions of us. We TOGETHER can make a BIG difference. We TOGETHER can show barack just how it feels to have so many people against you, especially when you need them the most. And he WILL NEED us.

Whenever obama, his supporters and the DNC say we will fall in line and vote for him, WE must LAUGH in their faces. Hillary supporters are STRONG people, just like our candidate. We will NEVER FALL in line, we have not fallen for any of his smooth talk either. We are way too smart, we know pure BS when we hear it.

Hillary Clinton 08... If not Hillary, then Mccain.... BUT NEVER OBAMA!

The country needs to know more about Obama and his wife. If Michelle said something in Rev. Wright's church about "whitey's," we should hear what it was.

Obama is getting a free ride, black or white, we need to know.

Hillary played the game and lost, or will loose, she made some big mistakes, and some people are smarter than their prejudice and fears. Unfortunately not enough, that’s evidence from some of the responses I’ve read, At any rate, all you people who suffer from latent or blatant racism, need not worry, Senator Obama will not be the U.S. President, the powers to be will not allow it, and their plan is on schedule, first they had to eliminate the biggest threat, Hillary. It would have been difficult to use race against her, and the power of women would have made sure she win against McCain, so you see, she had to be eliminated in the primary. With Obama, as the nominee, they can always depend on racist to finish him off against McCain, they realize no matter how bad things are, health care, jobs, foreclosure, even hunger, “White racist innate hatred and fear of black people will always dominate their decision making process.

Everyone is wondering why McCain, is getting this media pass, but it really doesn’t take a genius to figure it out; it’s the old game played with a few more layers of deception, for they must maintain the status quo.
Currently McCain appears the least qualified to be leader and chief, but I promise you by November the media (mainly Fox cable news) will succeed in poisoning enough minds (racist demented minds) and create the illusion of this aged incompetent McCain as our only hope for the future. Appealing to naiveté, racism,
Prejudices, and fears, the media will reinvent McCain, he will emerge an immortal perfect soul, whose errors are even correct; in contrast if Hillary is the Dem’s nominee, the media will paint her as a
power hungry liar that would say and/or do anything just to be in position to have ultimate power. I’m sure they (GOP) have more than enough material to paint her something bordering on criminal, for being greedy and overly ambitious, not to mention the fact that she is a women, white or not, white men have a problem with anyone in charge other than themselves, equally how would it look to the rest of the world to have a women in charge, some would interpret this a weakness. And needless to say, you know a black don’t stand a chance, which brings me to Barack. The media is accustomed to dealing with that particular issue- Black people; they have years of practice, and judging from some of the responses I’ve read-- they’ve done their work well. Therefore (in this case) all that’s necessary is for the media to keep reminding “mainstream
America” translated “White America” that Barack is a black man, and raise the question: “do you want a black in charge, and representing your interest in the world. In contrast McCain will be showcased as the wise experienced “White Hero” of a leader. The media will ignore his faults, or make intelligent excuses
for them, and highlight, embellish and exaggerate his limited strengths. McCain will be declared the winner by a narrow margin, and everything is as it should be, according the powers to be, more of the same.
I can see the pattern, and I’ve seen the game played so many times, and for those who believe the process is fair, I have some stock in the moon to sell you. I’m sure each one of you thinks your words are your own, not realizing that you are no more than parrots merely mouthing excerpts and information formulate by the media. And while the media does not tell you what to think, they do tell you what to think about, and
determine the value of the information. Yet I understand, for must of you are not accustom to thinking for yourselves, and has always been influence by media sources or someone who has been influence by media
sources. That’s why our next president will be McCain, but no matter who wins, I doubt things will change very much, but we can always hope. I estimate it will take three to four more generations before we see
beyond our own small, selves.
