Two Ads Released Featuring McCain
NEW YORK—
Two ads were released today featuring Senator John McCain, but the candidate approved only one. The ad, “Leading” will air in Iowa and aims to play on the still-ongoing battle for the Democratic nomination:
“While Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama argue and fight with each other, John McCain leads.”
The commercial says that the presumptive Republican nominee will “fight against wasteful government spending,” advocates a gas tax holiday, and explains how he wants his health care plan to provide tax credits.

The other ad is sponsored by MoveOn.org and is a scathing attack on McCain’s senior advisor, Charlie Black. Black has come under fire during the campaign for his lobbyist history, but today McCain was adamant that Black and campaign manager Rick Davis are no longer practicing lobbyists.
This week the McCain campaign instituted a new vetting procedure to find out if any employees have lobbyist histories, particularly if they have lobbied for any foreign governments. In recent days, three McCain advisors have left the campaign because of embarrassing revelations of work outside the campaign. Newsweek revealed that two aides had lobbied for the military junta in Myanmar in 2002 and just yesterday another staffer left because he was also working for a 527 group opposing the Democratic candidates.
The ad reveals Black’s lobbyist history and calls for him to resign. The commercial says Black “made millions lobbying for the world’s worst tyrants” and names some of them including Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines, Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire, and Jonas Savimbi of Angola—over very graphic images. The ad was sent to Move On members and concludes with asking members to, “Call John McCain and tell him to fire Charlie Black,” and includes the phone number for McCain headquarters.

We shall see if Senator Obama is going to “disavow” any relationship with MoveOn.org or if it will be “politics as usual.”
Of course Obama willl disavow………………………..you know he doesn’t play dirty politics. I should know, I’m just a “bitter” southerner clinging to my guns and religion. Anyway, being just a typical white person, I’m a racist. Not because I’m repulician, but because I’m not voting for Obama. Oh, maybe that is what has happened to Hillary. The media and Obama have taken her to task for being a “typical white person” who is sure nuff racist. You go Hillary, kick his ass. I may be voting for you if you win the nominee. AND, if you do after all of the mud slinging in your direction, the moment will become even more historical. God help us all if Mr. Big Ears, Barack H. Obama is elected. I’ll be voting, if for nothing else, to vote against him. Just in case Obama doesn’t know, he’s out classed by his rivals Hillary Clinton and John McCain. He needs to keep his mouth shut or someone will end up shutting it for him. McCain is an American Hero and no matter what you do or say, at the end of the day, McCain will still be an American Hero. I think Col Bud Day is right in his thinking that McCain should be talking about that fact. Unlike Obama, McCain has humility and does not use his “miracle” to his political advantage. He really doesn’t have too. And Hillary, well we’ve all seen how she handles stress. She has more class and dignity in her littler finger, then Obama has in his whole body. MoveOn.org is the political machine behind Obama. You don’t see him separating himself from them do you???
I get the filling that the democrat party do not care if obama lost the election to mccain as long as they win in congress and senate because if they have a republican in as president and they controll both the senate and congress they get to over rule the president and pass any bill want to and hillary was elected she would win against mccain big time and if anything goes wrong the voter,s will blame the democrat if hillary was president so the rather let obama lose to mccain but hillary is what this country need,s right now
“Typical White Person” just sounds like a typical idiot.
Well, Typical…I’d be proud to stand with you, even if you are a bitter, angry racist (guess I must be one, too). I agree that Hillary has shown a lot of class…and John McCain is an American hero.
If obama was really against the war like he say,s he would have voted against the war funding but he keep,s voting to fund the war this man, obama has no back bone to vote against funding for the war could he keep this country safe, no he can not because he know,s nothing about securetie all he want,s is power but really does not care about this country we need to vote for hillary if not hillary than mccain we someone to keep this country and we someone that ir proud of our coumtry
I find some Americans are really shameless. If anyone, it is HC who has used the race card over and over. I have the support of ‘hard working white Americans’, and funnily you don’t hear BO supporters saying they gonna vote John Ma Cain in E08 if he loses the primary. I think you’re just bunch of Republicans pretend to be Democrats! Hillary war-mongering comments==republicans?

I’m just curious why some here think Sen. Obama has been anything less than classy? To me, he seems exceptionally classy. He certainly has maintained a high level of discourse in his campaign and has spoken several times about Sen. McCain’s service to his country. Moreover, unlike the implication here, has never accused his detractors of being racist. Quite the contrary — his campaign has a strict edict against playing the race card. Many in the media have discussed racial issues, of course, but it’s hard to control the media.
The “bitter” comments played well politically, I suppose, but they were taken out of context. He was addressing questions about single-issue voters, and we all know they are out there. His point was that Americans haven’t felt like they had a real voice in economic policy during the last eight years. In the absence of such a voice, they voted on other issues, namely guns and religion. His point wasn’t that people didn’t care about these things (he is, as everyone knows, quite religious himself), but that people would weigh the economy more heavily in their voting patterns if given a real voice. He has publicly apologized for the wording (which really wasn’t so bad, except in soundbite version), but stands by the point: people care about the economy and Washington should listen.
As for the MoveOn ad, it’s not one that anyone’s campaign would have run but (unlike some MoveOn ads) makes a legitimate point. One shouldn’t have high-level campaign staffers moonlighting as paid lobbyists for non-Americans, particularly non-Americans that are of questionable moral character.
Pat, fair point about war funding. The problem is that if you cut funding, you’re really just hurting the troops. As a result, many who are against the war still feel that it’s important to make sure the troops are fully-funded so long as they are there. You can disagree, of course, but that’s the reason for Obama’s votes on war appropriations.
As for his love of country, I know some former associates of his — very well respected members of the Chicago business community — who have told me that they never knew anyone who loved their country more or talked about patriotism with the depth of feeling that Obama did. This was decades ago. Just something to keep in mind.
I still believe that if you are against the war the best you could do is vote against funding so our troop,s could start coming home. What i think is obama is not telling us the truth, he does not or not know how to vote against a bill so he vote,s for funding for the war at least hillary is sticking to her vote but obama all he does is vote persent it that all he think,s a president does is vote persent? Look at his record!!
the one thing you don’t want around your house is a black and white thing like a skunk, why would you want it around the white house?
Ok ok ok. I have a confession to make to all of you. My conscience is bothering me.
I AM THE PAID BLOGGER FOR THE OBAMA CAMP! I’m sorry but it has been too much fun misleading you guys. This should teach you all a lesson not to trust everything you read. All of you Hillary supporters should know that she has about as much of a chance of winning as McCain does. OBAMA’S MY MAN.
TO ED……Please remember where the Racist remarks really started…..Ob’ stayed with Wrights’ Church 20 years…..Plus Michelle calling us “Ignorant America……Lets talk a little about taking
things [comments] out of context….Remember “The 100 year deal” McCain said?……
I really think a teenager would have known better…….Then again…..News papers stated
OB’ was going to take the….Nukes off the table…..If that should happen….America would
be sitting ducks for terrorists’ attacks….We don’t believe OB is qualified/experienced enough.
We are Independent voters….We would appreciate it if OB had a little love and respect
for America and Americans…..But really OB’ has a lot of girlish ways ……God Bless America…
