Clinton Claims Popular Vote Lead, Bashes Bush Trip
JUNCTION CITY, Ore — Hillary Clinton says she’s going forward with her long-shot bid for the Democratic nomination until everyone has a chance to vote — and today claimed the lead in at least one measure of presidential preference.
“I’m ahead in the popular vote,” she said at an economic roundtable, after resident Sandy Mehlbrech urged her to stay in the race. “I’ve got about 50,000 more votes, which is really exciting because that’s important.”
While Senator Clinton does indeed lead in the popular vote if every state is counted, most tallies leave off Florida and Michigan, since the candidates were forbidden from campaigning there and their delegates were stripped by the DNC. Obama’s name wasn’t on the ballot in Michigan, further complicating Clinton’s claim.
While she’s an underdog in Oregon, where residents mail in their presidential ballots, Sen Clinton said she had reason to be optimistic. “I heard, I don’t know if this is the latest news, but that most ballots are still out. People are trying to make up their minds,” she said. “Obviously I hope to persuade those of you who haven’t sent in your ballots in Oregon to consider supporting me.”
The rest of the event focused on economic issues, particularly the effect high gas prices arw having on working folks in the state. Sen Clinton placed the blame on President Bush. “As we’re sitting here in this lovely home, President Bush is over in Saudi Arabia having tea with the Saudi leaders, trying to persuade them to either increase supply or lower price. That’s his energy policy,” she said. “I don’t think it’s good energy policy to depend on the kindness of the Saudis and the other OPEC nations, and basically have tea with them while businesses and individuals try to figure out how to afford nearly $4 a gallon gas and $5 a gallon diesel.”
“The Saudis may decide we need to do something to help out President Bush, but that’s just a short term fix that is not going to have any long term consequences. We just have to take a different apprach if we’re going to get serious.”

The only wat Democrats will win is to stay on point about the sad state of the Economy. The Democrats need to get off the Appeasement topic!
Clinton not only has lead in popular vote ,it seems obama and McCain are tied in national poll,
that means when Clinton voters go for McCain , obama LOSES

Good for Hillary. Hillary you are our only hope. Obama is a fraud and is more danagerous to this country then McCain. If Hillary is not on the ballot I will vote for McCain, to ensure one less vote for Obama and one more vote for McCain.
I don’t like voting republican but Obama is more of a danger to this country then any republican.
We need to start a campgain ourselves, a president for the people and by the people.
There are different tallies available, but looking at RCP’s, Obama leads the popular-vote race by about 700,000 votes if we include primaries and caucuses sanctioned by the Democratic National Committee. If we include Florida, which the campaigns agreed shouldn’t count, Obama still has a 400,000 vote lead. If we include Florida and Michigan, which the candidates agreed shouldn’t count and where Obama wasn’t even on the ballot, Obama still leads, though by a modest 80,000-vote margin.
But here’s a twist — the RCP totals don’t include the popular votes from Iowa, Nevada, Washington state, and Maine, three of which Obama won by wide margins. (In other words, his sizable popular vote lead is even bigger than it appears.)
There are still eight states and two territories yet to vote. Couldn’t Clinton yet claim the popular vote lead? There are multiple reports explaining why that’s highly unlikely.
MS HILLARY CLINTON IF YOU DO NOT WIN THE PRIMARY NOMINATION PLEASE DO NOT TAKE NOTHINGS FROM OBAMA……… RUN INDEPENDENT…………… THE D N C IS NO HELPING YOU
SO IS YOU OR MOST OF YOUR SOPPORTER ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN……
GOOD HILLARY……………….. IF YOU LOSE THE NOMINATION. WE WILL VOTE AGAINST , PELOSI, H. DEAN,,,,,, MSNBC,,,,,, CNN….. JOHN EDWARDS, AND SO ON……..
SO D N C. R I P.
GO HILLARY OR IS MCCAIN…… 2008
CNN AND MSNBC…………. VERY CORRUPT MEDIAS CHANNELS ………………
The republicians have a video of Michelle Obama In Wrights church using the word “whitey” to describe the white people….They are holding on to it till the General election if Obama is the nominee………..
If the DNC wants to force Obama on the voters, they will have another loss in 2008…………….
Clinton or McCain 2008 !!!!!!!!!
It is not just the popular vote that is important to note. It is the “MAP” not the “MATH”. Senator Clinton has won the swing states, including Florida, that the Democrats will need to win in November.
This is a point that the media is not reporting. Do your own homework. Please do not base your vote on what the media and the pundits are telling you. They have their own agenda, which is not always in our best interest.
This competition is not about race or gender, but, more importantly, who has the broader base of support, who has not only the popular vote, but, the swings states as well.
Edwards says he won’t run as v.p. but would except a position in the administration. Must know he is a loser so has to get an appointment.
Hillary better hurry or all the jobs will be filled.
Kieth1212,
I heard about that also. The republicans also have about a thousands pages of stuff on Obama they
say they will use.

I bet they have even more that just that. If Americans knew of his family history in Kenya…I doubt they would think he has the judgement to be Commander and Chief…I know I don’t…if you can’t convince me your judgement will put Americans first..you will never get my vote and issues don’t matter…..It’s Hillary or McCain…

DEAR ExT
you sir would do well to have your facts straight. The 4 judges that ruled in favor of that were appointed by republicans. So please if your giong to spew non-sense at least make sure you spew it in the right direction.
That is all
The supers are also waiting to see how close it gets. They have to be looking at who can win the electoral college. We know OB can’t win WV and FL
Dan
Don’t count on super delegates , most of them are as stupid as the “elite”Dems that chose them
They even chose 2 students who couldnt even vote because they were too young to be
super-delegates,
I feel sure that the others are about the same
I will vote for McCain if HIllary is not nominee
I’m terrified of obama
Also they have to consider the moderates, latinos, jewish, Indepen., and take into consideration that OB is the highest rated liberal in the senate and will raise our taxes and on businesses which will then lay off, close up or move out. The market will crash and thats where the pension funds are and we already took a hit on that the last year of Clinton.
There is no way they can lower gas prices for “US” unless they let us drill and produce more of our own. Taxing the oil companies is not going to do it. Gol, darn lefty tree huggers.
to American Woman and Keith 1212:
Obama’s cousin in Kenya is running with the same platform…. CHANGE…. I got onto his web site and the obama site and Odingo are almost identical… very alarming!!!
On the swollen acrid faced Michelle… I got to read her thesis on race issues and it reads with a lot of anger and she hilights “whites” always in quotes… she was very upset that she wasn’t accepted in Princeton by “whites”… I hate to tell her in college even us whities aren’t accepted by other whities…it’s just the way kids are… it’s very clickish… poor baby… I know now why you were never proud of america… it’s YOU baby….YOU have the problem!!! Jus because one is white doesn’t mean our lifes are blessed and we don’t have the same hardships…it’s part of life…get over it!!!
I can’t wait for the fights during the General Election process…boy the DNC better get ready for the blood bath… just remember winning the democratic nomination is nothing - Gore, Kerry and others won but never got elected… and the same crazies who voted for Bush will be voting in the general election… PLUS, you add 16+ million democrats who voted for Hillary that the obamas have continuously slammed will recall your nastiness and vote Mc Cain!!!
She had a good run and brought much attention to the democratic party. Time for Obama to crush McCain
I also think the supers will be taking a lot of polls. People in early states have changed their minds. Delegates can change their vote or endorsements now or at convention. of course there’s a lot of chickens in there too. But with over 4,000 delegates at convention it should be a show.
Are we supposed to take the repubs serious this election? Why don’t you people start putting your party in order so it looks like you stand for something. Then why don’t you start throwing a couple bucks to your candidate. I mean, at least act like you want to win in Nov
MCcAIN SUPPORTERS—THE CHEAPEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD
McCAIN SUPPORTERS—ARE YOU THE POOREST PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY OR JUST THE CHEAPEST
BT. Gore didn’t win. He got more pop vote but not electoral votes. Kerry didn’t win either.
Are you in CA? Are people switching from OB that voted for him in primary? Whats the pulse of the land out there? Whats with ORegon? Why are they OB lovers?
Ok so they refuse to seat the deligates but that doesn’t change the fact that those people voted and they voted for Hillary, so count their votes in her tally; don’t seat deligates but those people did vote. Obama chose to take his name of of Michigan just like he dissed W. Virginia and lost hugh and he’s dissing Kentucky. He goes right by the states he feels he can’t win whereas Hillary forges ahead to all the states and listens to all the people. Think about it guy - do we really want this muslum in our White House - vote Hillary or Mccain
McCain came up to me on the street the other day, and asked me if I could spare any change. Its pathetic what you’ve made your candidate do.

Obama has once again proved he is NOT QUALIFIED!!

Does he really think he knows more than McCain on this issue - that is really funny!
I don’t vote according to what polls say as they can be skewed. I don’t vote according to what the left stream media says and I sure as heck don’t vote according to bloggers that can’t talk issues & only call names. Guess that makes me a free thinker.
Drill our own oil dam it.!!! to heck with the tree huggers. Do your jobs for the American public.
Throw out the congress that is stopping us. There is no way the prices will drop any other way. World Demand!!!!
Lets try to get every one to put their states behind their names. It would be fun to see where every one is from.

I’m sick of these pols. They pee and moan about gas prices. Bash Bush, like we are to believe he sets the price and then don’t offer a solution or DO a solution in congress NOW. Not some goofy idea that might Not even work 20 years from now. Can’t they do 2 things at the same time? Namely produce more of our own and work on other measures at the same time. Jeez, if we ran our homes and business ran their businesses the way the pols run the country we’d all be a 3rd world country
Hillary if you do not get the nomination I will not vote!!!! You are the most qualified!!! You are a fighter!!! Obumma is already being eaten alive by the Republicans!!! Please fight for it. We want you!!!!!Hillary Supporters! Take note…Obumma is paying 400 bloggers to try to make nice with Clinton supporters! He is a fake!!!Don’t fall for it!!!
Hillary 08
When that ugly America hater comes on, I change the channel. Both of them.
I can hear the spin now… We are united! Dems are united! BULL. Never happen.
If Hillary doesnt win I will vote McCain
If Obama were to be the nominee in Nov., he’d have one heck of an uphill battle. He can’t win a big state beyond North Carolina, which happens to be in the South where Republicans are strong. He has support in key demographics that McCain does too. Additionally, he just can’t get the working class’s respect.
Hillary is more equipped to fight McCain in November because she can win a big state. You can carry the midwest all night long Obama, but Wyoming’s still got 3 (I might be wrong) electoral votes. Florida alone can match a lot of his midwestern support. And California and Texas? Yeah good luck Obama.
If only America wasn’t so caught up in Obama’s image as a gamechanger they’d realize, he’s not that crazy in politics. In fact, Hillary did universal healthcare almost 15 years ago. Sure Obama can inspire, but to do what?
Actions speak louder than words, and all your actions Obama, seem to be not so awesome, sweetie.

the facts are that the supreme court is 9 judges, and libs are the majority!
so Telf…bag yor BS!
Actually the California supreme Court has 7 members 6 of which are Republicans appointed by Republicans.
Now for those saying Clinton can’t win, do yourself a favor and study something will ya!
The DNC has rules which they have already violated. Their rules call for a maximum 50% reduction in the number of delegates. They broke their rules to revoke 100% of the delegates. The DNC didn’t even bother conducting an investigation (as required by the rules) before hurling the harshest sanctions possible at Florida and Michigan. The rules of the DNC also state that if the legislature moves the the date of the primary/caucus against the wishes of the DNC that the state need only make a good faith effort to remedy the problem. Both Florida and Michigan tried to develop a plan to revote. It was Sen. Obama who stopped the vote. Thus, both made a good faith effort. Thus, both delegations should be seat (100%) at the convention. Further, there is no provision for reducing the total number of votes needed to gain the nomination even if the delegation is reduced. It only states that that delegations number will be reduced not the total needed for nomination (2209).
And add to that pearl of information…
Attention All Texas Republicans and Independents!!
On March 4th, Texas Republicans and Independents will have an opportunity to end Hillary Clinton’s (and Bill’s) presidential ambitions once and for all!
Since Texas has on open primary, Republicans and Independents should sign in at their polling place and request a Democratic ballot. They should then vote for Barack Obama. Even James Carville admits that if Hillary loses Texas, “she’s done!” Republicans can help make this a reality!!! Just think, no more Clintons in the White House!
Voting Democratic this one time will have NO effect on your ability to vote in the next Republican primary or obviously on your vote in November. Since John McCain has the Republican nomination locked up, voting for McCain or Huckabee at this point will have no effect on the outcome on the Republican side.
After you vote during early voting or on March 4th, you ARE NOT done! Report back to your regular polling place at 7PM on March 4th to sign the Barack Obama list for caucus delegates. In a little known Texas voting quirk, 67 delegates to the Democratic convention will be seated because of these caucuses. This is a full one-third of the total number of Texas delegates. For Hillary to lose, she has to lose the primary votes AND the caucus votes.
I urge you to vote against Hillary Clinton by voting for Barack Obama. Please forward this e-mail to all your Texas Republican and Independent friends so that we can help ensure the Clinton’s defeat on March 4th!!!
His campaign did the same thing in Florida Nevada and California at the very least. Even going so far as to having one of his precinct captains in Nevada passing out flyers urging republicans and independents to become democrats for a day to stop Hillary. Also of note is the fact that though he won caucus states, the “big” wins claimed early on have been dis proven. First it was Washington State revealing a swing from 68%-31% in favor of Obama in the Caucus vote to 50% to 47% in the non-binding primary. Now Nebraska reveals a 68%-32% Barack Obama lead SHRINKING to a 49%-47% margin in their primary vote.
Wow… you ‘publican’s are truly delusional. I thought it was us liberals who smoked too much weed and took hallucinagenics…
One comment states; “Elect Obama and make America a joke.” Reeeeally?
America already is the joke of the world. A republican White House and republican Congress did that. Do any of you follow politics outside of the US? Do ya have ANY clue about how we are percieved around the globe? Are you so small minded that you just don’t care? Do you not understand how this affects you and me, everyday, here in the US?
Wow… and we thought Hillary supporters were uneducated. They’re Einsteins by comparison. Some of you are truly myopic.
The neocon era is over people. God n’ guns just don’t cut it anymore. It was, and forever will be, a stain in American History. Don’t you “get it?” Your time is over. The GOP needs to re-invent itself. Even the majority of republicans are saying this. Your side screwed up in grand fasion, now you pay the price and we Dems are left to repair the pathetic and criminal condition you’ve left America in. (yes I know, I ended in a preposition. My bad.)
I think it is finally time for Hillary to give up. She has painted herself in a corner with no way out. She has t kiss the collective a$$eS of the DNC, and Obama at the same time. She had the perfect chance to jump Obama, but had to jump Bush instead to please the party. She can`t win, and help Obama at the same time. The more people vote for her, the more the party turns their back on her. So popular vote means nothing to the DNC.
David, Santa Rosa Ca., Your a liberal from California, so that`s as far as I had to read.
How can you people say that Hillary won Michigan and Florida? Do you remember that she did include herself on not campaigning in these states? There were alot of Obama supporters that stayed home. There vote would not have counted anyway due to these two states breaking the rules. Obama’s name wasn’t even on the Michigan ballot. Hillary is being a sore loser due to Obama winning a majority of the states.
I thought Hillary stop buying crack from my good friend in the Bronx. She is really crazy.
KS, Hillary thought she had it in the bag. She didn’t know that this black guy from Chicago would come and take the popular vote
Since Bush and his dumb comment, Obama’s lead has improved over McCain nation wide.
Marc… the ONLY numbers that actually “count” are the ones that will be coming in November. Polls don’t mean much… remember 2004??? Polls said Bush was Losing by a landslide….who won? Obama camp trys to use psychology on the voters by saying Obama is winning, winning, winning…America is Not as Stupid as Obama and Axlerod had counted on. Americans have Spunk and Omaba ain’t seen Nothing yet.
Tim:
Be careful when you make a comment that it doesn’t imply a degree of stupidity on your part.
To say Bush was responsible for 911 implies a degree of stupidity on your part. The guys who planned and executed 911 performed all their planning during the Clinton presidency. Bill cut our defense and intelligence budgets to such a degree that it impacted on their capability to deal with this new threat. As a result, the 911 guys planned and trained for their operation right in the United States under the noses of the Clinton administration. The fact they executed their mission shortly after Bush took office had very little to do with Bush. So try to get your information correct and accurate before you post such ignorant statements on these sites.
And lastly, if Clinton would have been spending less time on Monica he might have been more successful in preventing 911 from happening.
President Barak Husssein Obama. Will those words reverberate across America and Israel?
Complaining again Hillary. Are you going to sue the DNC now? You want to win at any price. This would be your type of campaigning. Why agree on certain rules when they work against you; you end up suring.
Hillary sues??? How do you think Obama got his seat on the Senate? He had his attorneys get it for him “by default”….yep, took it away from someone else. Google it yourself.
Senator Clinton does have a case as to who would be the better candidate in the general election, she or Senator Obama. And yes, race does seem to have a role in this. Of the eight States with a black population of 20% or more, Senator Obama won all eight in the Primaries. However, if this was the General Election and the only candidates were Senators Obama and Clinton competing for the Electoral College votes, Senator Clinton would win by 83 votes (including Michigan and Florida). She would win by 39 Electoral Votes not including those two States. And yes, she can win the big ones. She would carry California (55 votes), New York (31 votes), and Texas (34 votes). These three alone account for 120 Electoral Votes. Those eight aforementioned States won by Senator Obama in the Primaries account for only 69 Electoral Votes, 32% of the total of 217 Electoral College votes in the 28 Primaries he won. Senator Clinton’s total would be 300 Electoral College votes with Michigan and Florida counted or 256 votes not counting those two states.
Obama will be demolished by the Republican machine.
I do not relly believed that the republican will be to concern of being a called a recist.
Hillary is a democrat so she was not able to hit him to hard.
Obama is sure loser to the republican.

What are you smoking dude? I’m the only Tim who has replied in this post and I never mentioned Dumbya let alone said he was responsible for 9/11. Aside from that I have to wonder why you choose to overlook that the Clinton administration warned the incoming Bush Admin about Al Queda and they ignored it. And that it was the Bush Admin not the Clinton Admin that recieved and threw away an advisory stating that terrorists were planning to hijack airliners and crash them into the towers!

Funny! Funny!!!
It seems Obamas support is fading in the blogs.By the time Nov. rolls around, people will be saying,”i thought Hilary was the nominee”.Vote;none of the above!
(BOO)”Bend Over Obama”
is a FRAUD.
Obama can not win . Clinton can but the DNC has chosen to treat all women as second class citizens . The DNC has doubled crossed Hillary Clinton and the DNC will LOSE in 08 . So many of us voters HATE obama and his camp . We WILL cross over and vote Mccain , he is a moderate and will cross party lines to get things done . You pick . Do you want a honest, experienced fair minded WAR HERO as our president or a racist , who is soft on terror ,a woman hater , who calls women ” sweetie ” as our president . THINK about it . I will vote McCain if obama gets the nomination .
Obama can’t run fast enough from the real white working class Americans . He is the black peoples candidate and calls women ‘Sweetie ” he has no respect for women Who in the hell does he think he is . . Lets ban together women of American and vote McCain . Never obama . never women . He is a racist and a women hater .
WOW!!! You all are something. None of you have any ideas of what you are talking about. You all are just scared of a Black Man with power. if you stop looking down on people maybe you could actually have some peace within. Nobody wants to do you any harm and to throw rocks when your glass house is already a mess doesn’t make any sense to me.
I dare anyone to talk sensible politics and we can have a debate. The key term there is sensible, not emotional.
My vote would go to Hillary first after the hrs I have spent calling for her. Should that not be the case my first vote for a Republican President (started voting with JFK will be cast this fall).
Yes, the way things are going as many have told the DNC they will only donate to Hillary and we will not vote for anyone in the Dem party other than her. McCain is not our choice but the best second choice we have available now.
I find it funny that BO can elect not to go after a state when he deems it is not in his best interest and yet stands up and says that traditional Rep states endorsed him. The 500 votes in Alaska compares to some districts are there any that small?
Will it be President Clinton or President McCain the choice is yours.
Come on Hillary I am pulling for you I believe in you please don’t give up keep fighting. Where the heck has the rev. Wright we need him to come now and oh yeah let me make this perfectly clear…………I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR OBAMA………………..
Moneyneen…you were going to vote McCain anyway. And how can you even dare to call Obama a racist. The mans mother is white. What are you even talking about. Can you honestly say why you don’t like him without spewing this nonsense. Its OK if you don’t like him. Thats fine. I think McCain is way to old, that really worries me. I also think that McCain is not a visionary leader that can inspire people in this country to strive for their better selves. The leadership qualities that Obama possesses is highly evident by the campaign he is running. He was able to draw people in and lead an organization that overcame a brand that was at least 12 years in the making. McCain is pandering and doing things that he never would have done if he wasn’t the nominee. That is a characteristic of someone who is untrustworthy.
no one has yet to pose a compelling argument. Hillary Clinton lost this race because she chose not create a national organization because she assumed that everyone would vote for her. That is a complete lack of judgement to underestimate your competition and to not compete your hardest for a job because you think its owed to you.
What a crock! She lost this election fair and square.
Yeah, the fact that she’s claiming the lead should tell you how delusional she is!
Even when Obama has 2025 delegates, Hillary will use her new math to claim that she has the most popular votes and should be the democratic nominee!
OMG! She’s scary!
The republican party are getting a lot of anxiety and nervousness by the day as Barak Obama gets closer to clinching the democratic presidential nominee. The ‘moment of truth’ is fast approaching.
All THE WAY WITH OBAMA.
