Edwards Backs Obama
Barack Obama took the stage this evening in Grand Rapids, MI, in front of more than 12,000 supporters and said, “I know that we didn’t have the chance to campaign here during the primary – and I felt bad about it. I didn’t have a chance to talk to you guys about the issues. I felt guilty about not campaigning and so as a consequence I decided that I would try to give you something special,” he said to applause. “I decided that on my first full day of campaigning in Michigan, that I wouldn’t be fooling around, that I wasn’t just going to do the same old thing. But I decided that I was going to bring out one of the greatest leaders we have in the Democratic Party – please give it up for my friend John Edwards!”
John Edwards entered the arena to thunderous applause as Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising” blared over speakers (a Kerry/Edwards ‘04 favorite). Before he praised Obama, Edwards was sure to mention the other Democrat still in the race - even as the Obama supporters booed at the sound of her name.
“I want to tell you, I know this is hard to understand sometime, but it is very, very hard to get up every day and do what she’s done. It is hard to go out there to fight and to speak up when the odds turn against you. And what she has shown is strength and character, and what drives her is something that every single one of us can and should appreciate,” he said, noting she is a woman “made of steel.”
“She’s a leader in this country not, not because of her husband, but because what she has done, because of speaking out, because of standing up. And we, when this nomination battle is over, and it will be over soon – brothers and sisters, we must come together as Democrats and in the fall stand up for what matters to the future of America, to make America what it needs to be. And we are a stronger party because hillary Clinton is a democrat. We are a stronger country because of her years of public service, and we’re gonna have a stronger nominee in the fall because of her work,” he said.
And then the news all the Obama fans were there to hear:
“The reason that I am here tonight is because the Democratic voters of america have made their choice and so have I,” he said as the arena erupted. “There is one man who knows and understands that this is a time for bold leadership. There is one man that knows how to create the change, the lasting change that you have to build from the ground up. There is one man who knows in his heart that it is time to create one America, not two, and that man is Barack Obama.”
Barack Obama had equally glowing things to say about his one-time rival and promised to join in Edwards’ fight to end poverty. “The fight that John is waging right now will be a fight I carry into the White House for the next four years,” he said. “I want to make sure that everybody knows that he will have a partner in that effort, because that is a goal that I will set as President of the United States of America.”
Soon after, a man in the crowd yelled out, “Does that mean Obama-Edwards?”
Obama laughed, Edwards smiled, but no one commented on the question. The message, rather, was unity. Obama said, “John Edwards and I believe in a different America. Hillary Clinton believes in a different America. The Democratic Party believes in a different America. One America, where we rise and fall together as one people and that’s why we are gonna take Washington by storm this November.”

Two MAJOR losers…
Made their choice? It seems to about 50/50 to me.
JOHN EDWARDS STATED;“There is one man who knows and understands that this is a time for
bold leadership. There is one man that knows how to create the change, the lasting change that
you have to build from the ground up. There is one man who knows in his heart that it is time to
create one America, not two, and that man is Barack Obama.”
WE CAN ALL BETTER BELIEVE THAT THESE THREE SENTENCES WERE CREATED BY THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN. HE DID NOT SAY THERE IS ONLY ONE CANDIDATE, HE STIPULATED THAT THERE WAS ONLY ONE MAN…
TAKE THIS FOR EXAMPLE, (”……the lasting change that you have to build from the ground up.”
RIGHT OUT OF OBAMA’S SPEECH, CHANGE COMES FROM THE BOTTOM UP.
Do you see a V.P. pandering by John Edwards?

The truth about Obama
I like OBAMA and I think he will bring greatness to the country.
Edwards is just another lap dog for Obama.
A wanna Be!!!
Poor Elizabeth to have to put up with him.
Maybe he has skeletons like Obama in the closet
and they are closeeee!!!
We will have John MCCain in Office in November.
The Republicans have the big scandal about Obama
coming out. The media is too stupid and are covering
for Obama now. Hillary can’t bring it out or they will
call her RACIST. All Hillary’s people will vote for
John MCCain. We will not let a man in the White House
like Obama.
Yes we CAN !!!
Obama/Edward 08
No Mcsame ==== No bush ——– NO WAY.
Mcsam will be president —- Frist he needs to spell his name ?
I wonder he can remember his wife ?????????????????
It’s so sad that the democrat party always gets behind the most radical, far left liberal nominee that we have.
Obama was voted the most far left liberal in the democrat party.
Once again, we will lose in the general Election. Hello president McCain.
All the “Old Washington” that Obama deplores is supporting him so they can say…”Look world, we are supporting a black candidate for President. Aren’t we wondefully sooooooo not racist.”
Barack Obama is a racist, anti-american, and a liar.
If I were Hillary I would tell the Dem. party to kiss my a$$ and run on the Independant ticket.
Edwards to UNITE US - Hardly!
Guess he will help with those “working class” type people - NOT with his $400 hair cuts!
The obama/edwards boys club is just SO MAD about HILLARY’s BIG WIN - they had to come out together - USELESS! In MI - where OBama blocked re-votes - how ARROGANT
Richardson/Edwards - didn’t they BOTH LOOSE!
Funny how Richardson comes out AFTER NM - and Edwards AFTER NC - that OBama won.
What good are they now???
Looks like a political gain/Jobs to me.
As I listened to Obama lying about his racist church/pastor, and never answered WHY he stayed there for 20 years, I’m liking McCain more and more. CAN we the Hillary supporters keep Obama out of the white house?
Yes we CAN.
Any democratic supporter backing Hillary making derogatory comments about Obama and the people that support him are ignorant and just plain ridiculous. The race could have gone either way. Sure it was a close race but a few more people support one candidate over the other.
A leader is someone that will bring the voice of the people to the entire country. A democracy is based on a majority and as I recall that is 50% +1. If people beleive in republican policies then they should follow the leader that has that voice…democratic policies will be driven by that leader.
Ignorance like voting the other party than that you support is just nuts and only shows that it doesn’t matter to you what the policies are, but more that you are emotionally attached to either a race or gender that makes you borderline racist or sexist. MAY THE BEST PERSON WIN.
All of these super delagates are going to come calling when paybacks are due. Not only that, Obamas well known associates will be even more well known.
Thanks to the DNC,John Edwards & most of all Mr. Empty Suit Obama for another Republican victory. Who in there right mind would put this country’s future into the hands of this inexperienced, racist, left wing nut? I have lost my faith in the DNC.
Last month it was the polular vote that counted…I guess the rules changed.
Unite for Hillary/ Independant Party 08
Yeah, great work there, Fox.
It’s GRAND RAPIDS.
Jeez…
Hillary is having her big moment now as she is getting her due respect for the good fight she put up. She looks great the past couple of days.
But you can not dismiss that she had a lot of support getting here like most governors, and Bill of course.
Several voters Tuesday (in WV) said Bill Clinton was a factor in their decision to support his wife.
“I feel that if she can do as much as Bill did, we’ll be better off,” Pam Smith, a 60-year-old retiree from Nitro. “The last few years there’s been so much outsourcing of jobs overseas.” Smith’s late husband lost his job at age 55 when the chemical plant he worked at moved its production to England.
“In West Virginia, people were living better when Bill Clinton was president,” said Lisa Godbey, 44, a nursing home worker from Nitro. “They remember the good times. Being Bill Clinton’s wife has a good effect on her.”
What a “wimp” John Edwards is with giving this endorsement now that he thinks there is a clear front runner. If he were a “real man” then he would have endorsed before. I have little respect for these superdelegates that are endorsing and putting in their intended votes at this time. They need to wait until the convention or atleast until after the primaries are over. I am loosing so much respect for this party and I just hope the superdeleges wise up before it is too late. Hillary is our only hope of thriving as a party. I wish that she would run as an Independent with a vp like Harold Ford. I would be on board for that!!! But NOT Obama!!!
I have regretted my vote for Obama and should he become the democratic nominee , I will not vote for him again.
He has had us fooled with his speeches for change and a new direction for Washington.
All I have seen lately , is that he is in the lap of inside Washington and relies heavily on endorsements and surrogates to do the political pandering for him.
He is exposing himself as being arrogant and pompous and not in touch with the american people at all.
Ted Kennedy’s speech against Hillary Clinton not to be considered as VP , finally did it for me.
I watched Obama sitting smuggly on the stage while listening to Kennedy spouting off.
I felt embarrassed that I had ever thought that this man could make a difference to our country.
I have since looked at him with more scrutiny and find his resume rather thin.
I saw the democrats here in Connecticut throw Sen Lieberman under the bus for a left wing liberal elite billionaire…luckily Joe won as an idependent. Now the DNC have abandoned Se. Clinton. The party elite are quick to turn on their own people. I am losing faith.
One America!
No war. No Bush 3rd term.
Peace, love and prosperity.
Mabus will use Mind Control to obtain control of the ignorant masses, only those who read this note will be free from his mental hold.

Alan,
The race could not have went the other way. The MSM made it clear from the start that they wanted this racist, anti-american, radical liberal for the dem. nominee. They swooned and said they had chills up their leg over Obama spouting civil rights speeches, that by the way, were someone else’s words.
What a poor example of a man John Edwards is saying the Democratic voters have made their decision already when Millions of Democrats are still Yet to vote. SHAME on him and his Obvious pandering to Obama.
I bet millions feel the same way, they regret their vote for Obama.
Thank you Trangel, that was close.
Someone PLEASE …
… tell BILLARY Clinton to STOP agonizing us with her NONSENSICAL campaign!
…and I say again. Your party, your leader by a democratic vote. FOLLOW YOUR LEADER, don’t throw away your vote and then complain later that you have another 4 years of the same old, same old.
To KYJellyDoctor, Sounds like censorship…just turn it off…
Obama has proven he is not the typical politician, he is much worse! He started his campaigning in caucus states urging Republicans and Independents to Go Democrat for a day to vote against Hillary! People complain about the Rush Factor…it’s actually the Obama factor!
Since Texas has on open primary, Republicans and Independents should sign in at their polling place and request a Democratic ballot. They should then vote for Barack Obama. Even James Carville admits that if Hillary loses Texas, “she’s done!” Republicans can help make this a reality!!! Just think, no more Clintons in the White House!
An Obama precinct captain in Nevada has circulated a flyer that urges Republicans (and independents) to become Democrats just for a day in order to stop Hillary.
The same tactics were also used in California!

Suzanne,
Edwards isn’t a super delegate, I don’t think. But he is a hyppocrit who has betrayed his supporters. And is pandering to Obama. Edward’s wife has went public and supported Hillary’s health care plan, because she said, Hillary’s plan IS Universal and Obama’s is NOT.

Better the same old same old, who loves his country, than a lying, racist, anti-american.
Hillary’s health care plan mandates that everyone have coverage whether you can or cannot afford. Thanks but no thanks. I want an option!
The Democratic Party is finished , they have shown themselves to be inept and mismanaged .
They are bartering in back room dealings to get Obama elected .
I am finished with them and will never vote for Obama.
As for the Super Delegates , I think that they have forgotten that they are elected Public Servants themselves and too many have gone against the will of their constituents. Shame on them..!!!
As for Edwards endorsement , he has lost my respect and has shown what a whimp of a man he is.
its too late baby its too late your endorsement comes much too late , now edwards that hillary will win the whitehouse in nov. to me he edwards looked relly stupid out there he has shone his true colors and i am sure he only did this because hillary got so many votes in w,virginia. he is mad that a woman beat him out of it.the dnc has upset hillarys voters so bad. i have a feeling deep pockets is at it again and paid edwards off big time. he knows hillary is the bettter canidate .i aminsulted big time and if hillary is cheated out of this election i will personaly campain for mccain.
You Hillary supporters (narrow-minded sheep) are disgusting. If Edwards had endorsed Hillary, you’d all be here yucking it up and gloating over the endorsement. Bunch of sore-losers.
I would vote for Harold Ford any day! Hillary/Ford 08
The MSM only asked Hillary, John Edwards, and Obama questions for the longest time, then just Obama and Hillary, and they finally became intrigued by Obama when he looked like he was starting to overcome her huge institutional support from the machine, the governors, and Bill.
For all you Hillary supporters… If Hillary came out and asked all her supporters to support the party and vote for Obama, will you trust her judgment then and do that?
Dave in NC…and if you weren’t so self-rightous you wouldn’t be calling names.
Edwards is WRONG!! The democrats have not all voted, including MI and FL. The superdelegates picked the nominee-Obama.

Edwards had the same plan as Hillary. And as Elizabeth Edwards said the ONLY way the price can be brought way down is if it is mandated, just like insurance for your cars.
If you can’t pay for it, Hillary’s plan would pay for it for you.
If you like what you have you can keep your insurance. AS of right now the average American pays about 900 dollars hidden cost because of people who don’t have insurance. The reason? When they get sick they go to the emergency room and the cost is passed on to us.

I have lived in Europe and Canada , all of the countries had universal healthcare.
It works very well , as I can vouch for it.
Hillary Clinton’s healthcare plan is quite good and she should be commended for her commitment and passion , she is a truly caring person.
She would make a great President if given the chance , but unfortunatley people once again choose likability over substance..!!
hillbilly,
you just dont care what you vote for. what a shame
such a loosing mentality to not look at the issues.
Hillary was the front runner in the beginning and you can only blame her and her managers.
oh, and lets not forget the many that didnt vote for her.
so its your choice . need to think out of the box.
has the ruling party helped you so much in the last 8 years? answer that
I find it hilarious.
Edwards comes out and supports Obama, so the Obama haters, doing what they do best… Insult Edwards and say the endorsement is meaningless and discredit the entire thing.
If Clinton had gotten the endorsement, your tunes would be completely different, you would talk Edwards up, say how much his endorsement means.
If Clinton were ahead in the popular vote, the states won and the pledged delegate count and the media actually entertained the notion that the party elect him instead of her, your tune would be completely different. You would say that the party has no right “disenfranchising” the voters by voiding the election and appointing the loser the nominee.
Well that is how it is, Obama has WON… He is 25 delegates away from the majority, which means after next Tuesday, she can win 100% of the remaining states and he will still have more delegates. That is PLEDGED delegates, awarded by the VOTERS.
I understand you are bitter about your favorite candidate losing, but it happens, and she lost without any foul play.
Even if you count Michigan and Florida AS IS, giving Obama ZERO delegates, he is still WAY WAY ahead, with a lead that is impossible to beat.
Clinton didn’t manage her campaign well.
Edwards and Obama decided to have Edward’s endorsement the night after WV because they knew Hillary would win that state. They did not want Hillary to take over the news station with her win. So those two losers set this up. Elizabeth Edwards refuses to endorse Obama.

————————————————————————————————————
I’m sorry, did you mean “traumatized”? Yes, I was ‘tramatized’ quite recently, by witnessing non-thinkers like you that represent a racist, biased, out of touch segment of the population, who continue supporting a lying pig like Hillary. Now why don’t you go back to your trailer, and ask Aunt Mom, and Uncle Dad to read you a bedtime story.
Clinton planned the race only until Feb. 5th.
The woman who goes on and on about how EVERY vote must be counted said that this is a “27 state race” that will be sewn up by Feb. 5th.
So after that date, where there was no strategy planned for afterward, where there were no funds saved for the following races, her campaign fell flat on its face.
She can’t manage a campaign, a campaign is a microcosm of a country. If she can’t manage the economy of her campaign, or spend her money wisely, or plan for the future, or think on her feet and ADAPT to the new situation, how can she manage the Country.
Running this campaign is obviously very difficult for her, with the MASSIVE name recognition, the most popular Democratic president in the last 30 years and their highly recognizable first daughter… not to mention the support of the government MACHINE in every state she went in… She still can’t compete with a NEW face, a man who isn’t recognized around the world, being supported by his household name and super family.
He isn’t the Coca-Cola of Democratic politics, and he BEAT her. David beat Golliath.
I understand you are bitter that your candidate lost, so you have to find someone to blame, it is IMPOSSIBLE that Clinton actually lost, there must be a massive conspiracy, like the one Clinton blamed for creating the fake scandal that lead to her Husband’s impeachment.
You can call it what you want, I call it being a sore loser.
If you really are a Democrat, and will vote for McCain out of spite, then you are foolish and shouldn’t even have the right to vote. McCain is the opposite of Clinton… He stands against everything Clinton stands for.
What’s worse, if you support Clinton and vote for McCain, or don’t vote, you are proving the MSM right, you are making a villain of Clinton, proving that she DID hurt the party by staying in, no matter how much she assured us we would unite, you PROVE that she was wrong.
Voting McCain is more of a slap in the face to Clinton than it is to Obama.

I agree with your analysis that the response would be different if the tables were turned. What is difficult is the transparency of Edwards actions. He is clearly hoping for the VP, that’s politics. I have a feeling that this endorsement was in the works for quite some time and the Obama campaign was waiting for the best time…just as his opponent was gaining momentum.
I think what is disturbing is that there seems to be this idea that Sen Obama is above politics, when he is no different then any oher politician…he is just real good at it…maybe alittle too good. It’s a little scary.
you know maybe they will have to bring the draft back and this time they might take the collage kids.in fact thats a good idea . because if this stranger obama wins we as a country are in for big time trouble.

Yes, I was ‘tramatized’ quite recently, by witnessing non-thinkers like you that represent a racist, biased, out of touch segment of the population, who continue supporting a lying pig like Hillary.
