Obama’s “General” Strategy
The Obama campaign today announced Barack Obama would head to Michigan tomorrow - a move that only a frontrunner could make on the night of the West Virginia primary. While Hillary Clinton will likely celebrate her victory in the Mountaineer State, Barack Obama is traveling to Missouri and Michigan, states that held their primaries on February 5th and January 15th respectively. Obama will spend Wednesday on the stump in Michigan.
Of course Obama won Missouri and did not contend in Michigan as no delegates were at stake due to a punishment handed down by the DNC. Hillary Clinton carried the illegitimate primary, whose results have not factored into the heated race, and remains one of the reasons why she has yet to concede.
After Tuesday there will be five contests remaining in the Democratic nomination. The Obama campaign vows to campaign in each of the remaining states, but noted in a statement today, “Our schedule reflects the fact that we are still fighting for votes and delegates in the remaining contests but also that we are going to places that are going to be competitive in the fall. John McCain has gone unchallenged for far too long and we’re going to make sure that voters in competitive states know the choice in this election between changing Washington and the third term of George Bush’s failed policies that McCain is offering.”
And while Barack Obama himself has said this nomination is not over, his campaign is beginning to morph into general election mode. “Obviously we also don’t want to wake up on the morning of June 4th or June 10th or whenever this is going to end and not be prepared, so we’re going to do the things we can in our off hours,” Campaign Manager David Plouffe told reporters on a conference call last week. At the time it wasn’t clear “off hours” would mean prior to the campaign sealing the Democratic deal.
One of the “silver linings” to this long, drawn out campaign, Plouffe says, is that they have an organization in most states which will better ready Democrats to take McCain on in the general election. But Obama did not campaign in Florida or Michigan. “I think Florida is one state where we’ve probably suffered the most from lack of campaign activity compared to the rest of the country,” Plouffe observed on last week’s conference call. Which may be why Obama is scheduled to campaign in the Sunshine State on May 21st and 22nd – just one day after the candidate is expected to have accumulated the majority of delegates at stake in the nomination.
On Obama’s travel plans, a spokesman for the RNC responded today by noting, “Barack Obama can travel wherever he wants, but it won’t make his calls for higher taxes, restricted gun rights, and proposed meetings with state sponsors of terrorism any more appealing. Wherever Obama takes his flawed message, voters will learn more about the weak leadership he has demonstrated on important issues confronting the nation.”

His crushing defeat in Pennsylvania, and loss in Indiana makes that fact crystal clear. His best, and only real chance of winning in November is on a ticket with Hillary Clinton as her VP.
Sen. Obama has zero chance of winning against the republican attack machine, and their unlimited money, and resources without Hillary Clinton. Zero chance.
It is absolutely essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse in November. America, and the American people are in a very desperate condition now. And the whole World has been doing all that they can to help keep us propped up.
Hillary Clinton say’s that the heat, and decisions in the Whitehouse are much tougher than the ones on the campaign trail. But I think Sen. Obama faces a test of whether he has what it takes to be a commander and chief by facing the difficult facts, and the truth before him. And by doing what is best for the American people by dropping out of the race, and offering his whole hearted assistance to Hillary Clinton to help her take back the Whitehouse for the American people, and the World.
Sen. Obama is a great speaker. And I am confident he can explain to the American people the need, and wisdom of such a personal sacrifice for them. It should be clear to everyone by now that Hillary Clinton is fighting her heart out for the American people. She has known for a long time that Sen. Obama can not win this November. Don’t be fooled by the pledged delegate, and math arguments. Neither candidate has the necessary pledged delegates. The entire delegates counts, and votes from Florida, and Michigan are not even being counted. Plus the democratic caucuses, and primarys have been heavily corrupted by fraud, and vote cheating. The only relevant question now is who can best WIN IN NOVEMBER and take back the Whitehouse for the American people. And the answer is HILLARY CLINTON. Everyone knows that now.

Obama didn’t go to MI and FL because he was following the rules people! Unlike Hillary he does have some ethical standards! Clinton followed the rules as well UNTIL she realized she couldn’t win without MI and FL.
Just last week MI officials met and decided on a 65-55 split - giving Hillary a 10 point delegate lead and she refused because she wanted more delegates. People keep saying that the votes from FL and MI should count, but what about all of those people who stayed home because they followed the rules and KNEW the primary was only a beauty contest? Weren’t they disenfranchised as well?
It seems to me that all of these bloggers on FOX don’t care about America or it’s people. They are selfish and stuck in a past that’s long been wiped away by the a new generation of Americans. We believe in looking at all sides of the matter before making a judgement. It seems like the bloggers here, make a judgement then try to find reasons to justify their lopsided logic. How can Hillary be claimed the better candidate is she can’t even beat Obama? Even with the MI and FL and the upcoming states she will NOT beat Obama in the popular vote, nor delegate or superdelagte lead(s). No matter how you slice it they came up short.
Now that they are working out a deal to be complete by May 31st, Obama is free to visit/campaign in MI and FL. Even is you feel that Obama didn’t want MI and FL. to count, isn’t it a good thing that’s he’s reaching out to them now? What’s wrong with that?
It seems you’ll find any reason to smear Obama just because he’s winning and he’s black. But you forget your voting against yourselves as well because he’s 50% a part of you (white), like it or not.

What he was talking about is if people rise up, like happened in WW2, and try to lock American citizens in camps just based on their religion he will stand with them to protect their civil liberties. I want my president to protect the rights of American citizens.

FL and MI, knowing the penality for breaking the rules, broke the rules. Obama, Hillary, Edwards all agreed not to campaign there. Edwards and Obama even removed their names from the ballots. Hillary won the states, the rules she agreed to before the primaries said that the states lose their delegates. Hillary knew it, Obama knew it, Edwards knew it, the people of FL and MI knew it. What did Obama do to snuff out the voting rights of millions of Americans?

One thing I have to give Hillary is she’s tricked alot of FL and MI voters that she’s standing up for them. Obviously she had a chance to stand up for them before she agreed to the rules that their votes wouldn’t count, but she didn’t think she needed them. I dont understand how people don’t see through her tactics, where was her standing up for the people of FL and MI before the primary when it was decided that their votes didn’t count?
