Obama Camp Touts Superdelegate Lead
According to the Obama campaign, Barack Obama now has more superdelegates than his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton - “a clear sign that Democrats across the country and throughout the party are ready for a new kind of politics.” In an email sent out to supporters, Campaign Manager David Plouffe shared the news while noting the race is not over (hint, send money).
“Given the long history the Clintons have with the Democratic Party, it’s no surprise Senator Clinton maintained her superdelegate lead for so long,” Plouffe wrote. “But right now it’s clear that the Democratic Party is uniting around Barack’s candidacy.”
Read the email here:
“Big news today: for the first time since this campaign began, Barack Obama has taken the lead among superdelegates.
We’ve won more elected delegates, more states, and more votes than Senator Clinton. But until yesterday we trailed among Governors, Members of Congress, and Democratic Party leaders — the so-called “superdelegates” who have a vote in the nominating process.
As it stands, we have 279 superdelegates who have committed to cast their convention votes for us. That includes 21 since last Tuesday’s elections, and 3 who switched their support from Senator Clinton.
We have just 152 delegates to go before Barack Obama clinches the nomination.
But Senator Clinton intends to compete vigorously in the remaining contests; at the same time we face increasing attacks from Senator McCain and the Republican attack machine.
Barack needs your support to close out this nomination and start building for the general election.
You got us where we are today. Please help by making another donation of $100 now.
Given the long history the Clintons have with the Democratic Party, it’s no surprise Senator Clinton maintained her superdelegate lead for so long.
But right now it’s clear that the Democratic Party is uniting around Barack’s candidacy.”
Here’s what a few superdelegates who recently changed their support had to say:
“After careful consideration, I have reached the conclusion that Barack Obama can best bring about the change that our country so desperately wants and needs.”
- Rep. Donald Payne (NJ-10)
“He has shown he can connect with Democrats, Republicans and independents across this country.”
- Kevin Rodriquez (VI)
“It’s time to come together as a party and support Sen. Obama and prepare for a victory against John McCain in November.”
- Del. Jennifer McClellan (VA-71)
We need to act quickly to encourage the remaining superdelegates to join us and close out this race. And we need to start building now to beat Senator McCain this November.
Please make an additional donation of $100 now:

Tomorrow, voters in West Virginia — where Senator Clinton has an enormous lead — will head to the polls.
On Wednesday, Barack will continue to have an insurmountable lead in states, votes, and delegates.
He will also have the endorsements of more superdelegates than Senator Clinton — a clear sign that Democrats across the country and throughout the party are ready for a new kind of politics.
This grassroots movement, funded by more than 1.5 million individual donors, has supported Barack when he was up and when he was down.
Now, the nomination is in sight, and it’s because of you.
Thank you,
David

Obama didn’t go to MI and FL because he was following the rules people! Unlike Hillary he does have some ethical standards! Clinton followed the rules as well UNTIL she realized she couldn’t win without MI and FL.
Just last week MI officials met and decided on a 65-55 split - giving Hillary a 10 point delegate lead and she refused because she wanted more delegates. People keep saying that the votes from FL and MI should count, but what about all of those people who stayed home because they followed the rules and KNEW the primary was only a beauty contest? Weren’t they disenfranchised as well?
It seems to me that all of these bloggers on FOX don’t care about America or it’s people. They are selfish and stuck in a past that’s long been wiped away by the a new generation of Americans. We believe in looking at all sides of the matter before making a judgement. It seems like the bloggers here, make a judgement then try to find reasons to justify their lopsided logic. How can Hillary be claimed the better candidate is she can’t even beat Obama? Even with the MI and FL and the upcoming states she will NOT beat Obama in the popular vote, nor delegate or superdelagte lead(s). No matter how you slice it they came up short.
Now that they are working out a deal to be complete by May 31st, Obama is free to visit/campaign in MI and FL. Even is you feel that Obama didn’t want MI and FL. to count, isn’t it a good thing that’s he’s reaching out to them now? What’s wrong with that?
It seems you’ll find any reason to smear Obama just because he’s winning and he’s black. But you forget your voting against yourselves as well because he’s 50% a part of you (white), like it or not.
Pissenfranchised: (noun) Democratic voters who threaten to cross party lines to cast their ballot if the candidate they support does not win the nomination
Just a few months ago, Obama supporters looked down on Hillary’s Superdelegate lead because of the air of “back room politics”.
Now would an Obama supporter explain to me how it’s okay now that they are more in Obama’s corner? Does that wash away the previous attitude?
“It seems you’ll find any reason to smear Obama just because he’s winning and he’s black. But you forget your voting against yourselves as well because he’s 50% a part of you (white), like it or not.”
Comments like this are the reason I’ll move over to vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee. If this is the strategy to pull Clinton voters over to Obama’s side, it won’t work very well.
For the record, I won’t vote for Obama because he’s woefully underqualified (among other reasons) NOT because he’s black. Stop with the race baiting.
Obama said he would campaign in all 57 states. There are 57 Islamic States recognized by the UN. hmmmmmvery interesting. Must have been thinking about them.
A one year rookie with no executive experience, not mature and the most liberal senator in the senate. Just what the country needs. not.
Belle
I would say they were correct in thier first opinion, We have all known that the Selection of the Nominee would come down to the SuperD’s…smokey filled back room deals, threats of violence, and pure opportunists…have ruled the day…I again repeat a previous post…If I lived in a democratic state…I would look at who won my congressional district and moblize and send e-mails and protest if any representive voted against the will of the district. There are many that are not supporting the will of thier districts, and States…It’s not too late SuperD’s can change thier mind. I say all the way to Denver…and settle it on the floor of the Convention.
We will not support a man who has waited only til he is ahead in pledged delegates and superdelegates to count the votes in Florida. This election has been rigged. We do not want him in Florida.

Belle:
The qualifications to be President of the United States:
Age and Citizenship requirements - US Constitution, Article II, Section 1
No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.
Term limit amendment - US Constitution, Amendment XXII, Section 1 – ratified February 27, 1951
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.
Source: http://www.presidentsusa.net/qualifications.html
So why isn’t Obama qualiified to be elected President again? I don’t think you explained THE REASONS you felt Obama is not qualified to be president.
Toughest job in American Politics: Being Terry McAuliffe. He has the job of sitting in front of cameras and trying to convince voters that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic Nominee. After a while, he begins to sound like a parent from the Peanut Gang.
I say Clinton should drop out of the democratic party race and run independent! The democratic party has been a huge disappointment. Many elders within the party conspired against Clinton so Obama can win!
They used the same old politics Obama claims he deplores to get him to where he is! Obama is TOTALLY unqualified and he is weak!!
CLINTON PLEASE RUN INDEPENDENT!

What LS says about Obama is true.
http://larrysinclair0926.wordpress.com/
Obama does not have the knowledge to be President. White or black should not be an issue here. If Hillary doesn’t win the Democratic nominee, John McCain will have millions of Democrat voters on his side.
WOW DEAN…THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO…IM SURE THE OBAMA PEOPLE ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE!!!! tHIS IS A MUST SEE VIDEO.
Clinton have constantly said that it is time to end the fight in Iraq and win the fight in Afganistan–Well I say it is time to end the fight within the democratic party and WIN the fight to the White House!
I will wholeheartedly support Clinton as an independent candidate and she can win! Even though Obama have more states, if this was the general election, he would lose….. why? Because Clinton got the big battleground states that carry the big electoral college vote! Also, MOST of the states Obama won will be won by McCain anyway! Clinton you are still in the best position to beat McCain and win the White House.
Move forward, let the Democratic party go and RUN INDEPENDENT! They showed you that they don’t care about you or your voters! Form your own Party!

I am looking at Obama’s superdelegates and it shows that most of them are losers.
Losers Kerry
Loser Richardson (nickname Judas)
Loser Dakakis
Loser Ted
Loser Dudd
The superdelegates are not jumping to Obama, they know the question must be, Who is the better candidate for November.
That is Hillary!!!

EGGHEADS AND BLACKS!
Tammy,
That was a cute video…
Obama would not agree to a re-vote for Florida and Mich. Obama is the reason these people
are being left out. It’s NOT about the Dem. party it’s about the PEOPLE and their right to vote and
elect the President of the United States.
I will not vote for him if he is the dem. nominee. I will vote for McCain.
Bella,
I am in Florida and I want to hear what Barack has to say. I am an independant and my vote counts. I do not hold him responsible for our state Govt. They are at fault for what is taking place in the DNC. If Clinton were ahead, we’d be mad at her. Frankly, I think that you need to check you facts before you make a comment on this website saying you represent Florida.
Jimmy Carter (won because of backlash from watergate) , Hubert Humphrey, George McGovern, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Al Gore (hanging chad), John Kerry, and Barack Obama. Notice the pattern? All losers! What is really funny, is that they sometimes vote in an attempt to reanimate John F. Kennedy… Democrats have lost 7 of the last 10 presidential election, with nomminees backed by educated affluent liberals, college students, and African Americans. The record speaks for itself! Seems to me the Democratic party has a flaw in its nomminating process.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejTmistHFw0
Or watch it on You Tube
Step down Obama so the Dems. will win in Nov. !!!
Obama broke the rules in Florida when he ran campaign adds there.
I hope Hillary will run as a independant.
Everyone has a right to their opinion, I just haven’t heard ANY SUBSTANTIVE reason why people wouldn’t vote for Obama. Yes, I’m an Obama supporter but I would vote for Hillary is she wins the nomination. Even though I would be angry, I wouldn’t vote for John McCain because he is against (supposedly) everything Hillary stands for. So a vote for McCain would be a vote against Hillary.
Here are my reasons for choosing Obama over Hillary although I like them both:
1. Hillary cannot run an efficient campaign (She’s not a good manager, which translates (to me) to not being a good leader).
2. She’s not fiscally responsible. If economics is the #1 topic in this election, she loses. If she can’t manager her campaign funds, how can she get us out of economic trouble.
3. Hillary does not seem authentic or spontaneous to me. I know politicians are politicians (all of them are fake in some way or another). However, Obama admits he’s a imperfect messenger and he’s quick. I like that a candidate has some flaws as that makes them more human (or one of us). At least I know that he is capable of empathy. I do not like robots.
4. If the candidates of experience (Hillary or McCain, especially McCain) are beter qualified to handle the mess we are in, WHY ARE WE IN THIS MESS? John McCain has been in the senate for over 20 years, why aren’t we as a nation doing better? If McCain hasn’t made that much of a difference within that last 20-25 years, what makes me think he’ll do any better if he becomes the President?
Even though I would be angry if Hillary win the nomination, I wouldn’t vote for John McCain because he is against (supposedly) everything Hillary stands for. So a vote for McCain would be a vote against Hillary.
I guess I’ll just never understand the logic of some the the posts here. But, I’m just smiling and waving, smiling and waving.
JP in Florida,
Howard Dean thanks you! We Hillary supporters are going to Sen. John McCain. Florida Republicans votes counted!
Veronica
Obama is NOT qualified because he is WEAK! He couldn’t beat Clinton on his own so what did he do, send the Media his supporters and the elders in the DNC to try to beat up Clinton! Have you noticed that Obama is only strong when he is in an environment that is staged for him. He crumbles when he is not in a “pro Obama” environment. His weak self can’t even debate Clinton UNLESS he is in a pro Obama environment so how is he going to run the country or even beat McCain! He did not get this far because of merit, he got this far because his camp used the same politics he says he deplores against Clinton!
He stumbles all over the place when he is not reading from a teleprompter and he has no experience! OBAMA IS A MEDIA MADE SENSATION! That’s funny huh, the black man needed the media and his supporters to beat the white woman because he is TOO WEAK to do it himself!! And although they media and his supporters have threw some good punches, Clinton keeps getting up and she will continue to get up and it is my hope that in the end she get up and walk away from the disgraced democratic party and form her own party. It seems to me that the party left her a long time ago!
NO BAMA!
Just because superdelegates are going to Obama does not mean that the voters are. Stop lumping all the voters into one catorgory. I wouldn’t vote for Obama if there was a gun pointed to my head.

Hi Patty,
How’s my girl doing? The video must be x-rated if you’re touting it.
Obama’s not helping himself by skipping over West Virginia. According to the polls, white, working class voters are where he’s weakest so what does he do? He doesn’t bother to campain there. JM and the GOP won’t have to use Rev. Wright to paint a negative picture of Obama, he’s doing it himself. He’s insisted that traveling around during the long primary has given him a chance to hear thoughts and feelings from people all over the country…except when it’s a mostly white state he doesn’t bother. Right or wrong, a large number of the “white, working class” that he’s having trouble with don’t think he’d do the same if there was a larger african american population in those states.
veronica,
If you are running a company, you do not make a CEO out of someone with 1 year national experience. 1 year because obama started gearing up to be president as soon as he got to the US Senate!
Veroncia,
So give me some reasons why you would vote for Obama. Some substance please not just change. I am tired of hearing about change from a anti-american.
Isn’t it funny that Hillary will only agree to change the rules if it benefits her.
She is a liar and a cheat so she needs to drop out.
Michigan and Florida delegates should count but popular vote should not because Obama was not on the ticket so lots of people didn’t go out to vote.
If they were to count than John Edwards should still be on the ticket
where was all the outrage when mrs hill, stated only hard working white americans are inportant in this race. what about all us hard working others but we are not inportant, he have is leadinf is n’t he?? but its the hard working, or older white, or white women.

Hillary failed at health care reform with a Dem Congress and President.
Hillary failed as a leader of her campaign. She was considered the inevitable choice as the Dem nominee and she lost that to a rookie Senator.
This doesn’t say much about her as a leader. Why would anyone want to vote for her?

———————————–
Veronica, 1. You must be dim witted if you think politicians “run” their own campaigns. Obama’s campaign managers are Bill Clinton’s old campaign managers. ( So much for change huh?)
2. Again, The politicians do NOT manage their campaigns, the campaign managers do.
3. You evidently haven’t listened very much to Hillary or you would know she is very much loved and authentic.
Obama is such a light weight, he can not even hold his own in a debate. Without a tele=prompter he is lost.
JIM, YOU LOVES ME RIGHT?? IM VOTING FOR HER AND IF SHES NOT IN IT THEN MCSHAME HAS MY VOTE!!!
The only reason why Hillary is still running is because she is a Clinton. Let’s review:
1. She run’s adds in Ohio “Who do you want answerng the phone at 0300 am in the morning….”
Well let’s see, she told the country, on three seperate occasions, that she landed under sniper fire in Bosnia. She then tries to explain that she was very tired and mis-spoke. Yes, that’s who I want answering the phone at 0300.
2. “I think Americans need this gas tax holiday…..” She lost NC by 14 points. Do you hear anything about any holidays today?
Any other candidate would have been run out of the election by DNC elders.
But now America is speaking up with their votes. They are tired of listening to her say what she THINKS we want to hear.

PEOPLE, YOU must know that FRAMING PEOPLE OF STATES as POOR and UNEDUCATED IS DEMEANING. TO FURTHER IMPLY THAT THE POOR, WHITE AND UNEDUCATED ARE STUPID AND BIGOTED ENOUGH TO VOTE FOR HILLARY, IS ABSOLUTELY INSULTING. STOP, DO NOT ACT LIKE THE BULLYING BILLARIES!
LET US TELL West Virginia and Kentucky THAT WE LOVE THEM AND DO NOT FEEL THIS WAY ABOUT OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, NO MATTER HOW WHITE, RICH OR EDUCATED. WE ARE RICH TO HAVE THEM ON OUR SOIL! HILLARY is giving them a BAD BILL OF SALE! HILLARY COULD NEVER REPRESENT THEM OR ME! OBAMA IS THE ONLY GOOD CHOICE WE HAVE LEFT, IMAGINE IF WE DID NOT HAVE HIM!
Where can we talk directly to the people of West Virginia and Kentucky? I could not imagine living there right now and having to endure this. Will Hillary compromise for the better of our country and the world at large? Evidently NOT if she is willing to break the rules, LIE, pander and be so selfish that she will sacrifice the Democratic Party for her own rabid selfishness. Hillary’s “experience” has not taught her to hide her racist and sexist views nor to refrain from pandering. She would not have respect anywhere. She is a hot head that would do us more harm nationally and internationally than even Bush has done. After her behavior in this campaign she should NEVER run again. Another INTERNATIONAL Bully is not what we need.
Casey,
Obama is weak at debating Clinton, I agree. The difference is Obama has even said he is not good at giving “sound bites.” I don’t think he pretends to be something he’s not. However, I do not think that disqualifies him from becoming President. I do think that he is able to learn quickly and that’s the sign of a truly intelligent person.
Hillary is a policy wonk and she is in command of facts, however, I feel that leadership and management is the better quailty to have as President because it’s important who you pick to surround you. If your in command of the facts but you pick unethical people (for example) to to be on your team, your administration becomes unethical.
The final switch for me was when in the last debate, Hillary looked in the camera and told people that the story about the Bosnia fire she told on the stump was different than the one she wrote about in her book. Basically, she looked Americans in the eye and told them “I lied to you, so what? It reminded me of Dick Cheyney when he said So?, when asked about a poll that suggested most Americans wanted to end the Iraq war. I was amazed that Hillary lied not one or two times about Bosnia and people were OK with it. George Bush has done that to us for years and I just couldn’t take it.
Even with all that in mind, I would still vote for Hillary over McCain because at least she told the truth about her lies, but I will never trust her. I will always question whether she truly believed in what she was saying or if she was just saying it because it’s what she thought I wanted to hear.

There are so many variables that determine who wins a presidential election and one of the most important is the economy. If we go into a recession (and I hope we don’t), then the party that has the current president (Bush) will lose the general election. This is an historical fact.
There are other reasons that affect how people will vote. The was will also be big one. Nobody is paying much attention to the number of Americans dying in Iraq because they are so focused on the primary. But in the general election, you’ll have one candidate who is for the war and one who wants to bring the troops home.
McCain is old and that won’t help him.
McCain has Bob Barr running now and siphoning conservative votes.
McCain just got caught employing people who work for Myanmar. That does not look good for him and those people are truly evil. They don’t just say evil things, they commit evil acts.

Democratic Excuses! All of it! won 3 in 10. Notice the 3 you won? 2 Southern Governor. 7 you lost were all northern liberal elites.

Jim,
A wiser form of protest would be for you to attempt to impeach all your elected officials who voted to move up your primary.

Would take too much time. Easier to impeach obama with vote for John McCain in November!

The only Clear Sign I’m seeing is that Hillary is Still kicking Obama’s butt in ALOT of states

I disagree with your post Patty and to be fair, there have been many racial posts on these threads. There is some truth that Obama may have questionable associations, but then again, each of the candidate does.
Well, at least Obama has the fortitude to admit to taking drugs, Bill side steps and says he didn’t inhale, yeah, right.
To continually point to the baseless point that he is gay, makes me think you are a homophobic.
The Reverend James Manning will be interviewed on the Jeff Rense show tonight. Reverend Manning has a new video and states that Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright are closet homosexuals. Manning also has a few things to say about Oprah. The Reverend Manning video can be viewed here:

Actually, Patty just loves to post about anything sexual!!!
Reading and listening comprehension appears to be sorely lacking in quite a few people. The “hard working white” comment was taken from an AP story. Hillary even references it when she starts to discuss it.
I also note that at least one news agency was able to FINALLY point out what a lot of us already knew; that being that Obama is ALWAYS putting the blame on someone other than himself when he gets caught in things.

Michelle doesn’t want Hillary on Obama’s presential ticket???? Michelle Obama must be the one calling all the shots in this campaign.

HAHA!
it is amazing that were are having such a petty shallow conversation of who to vote for when the choice is obvious.
Mccain is a third term of the decider.

Possibly, but I do not want HRC on the ticket either, I prefer Governor Katheleen Sebelius.
