Hillary’s Greatest Hits: Back to Bashing Barack on Health Care

PORTLAND, Ore — After a day of attacking Barack Obama for failing to agree to a Democratic debate, for failing to agree with her plan for a federal gas tax holiday, and for failing to side with the forces of good on the 2005 “Dick Cheney Energy Bill,” Hillary Clinton went back to attacking him on what she’s called the driving force behind her campaign — for failing to provide universal health care.

Speaking to reporters and patients bundled against the cold in a chilly courtyard here at a local children’s hospital, Clinton zeroed in on what she called the “artificial distinction” between children and adults in Obama’s health care plan. Obama would mandate coverage for kids, but not for adults — a proposal Clinton called “unworkable.”

“You have to have a seamless health care system which covers every single person. My plan does, my opponent’s doesn’t,” she said. “There are 600,000 uninsured Oregonians. Under my plan, everyone would be covered. Under his plan at least 220,000 would still be left uninsured.”

“This is a big difference in this campaign. And really, it’s not a difference of politics as much as commitment.”

Clinton’s chances for the nomination seem slimmer with each passing hour, as superdelegates are flocking to Obama. But Clinton seemed energized as she spoke about the issue that has been at the center of her campaign.

“I deeply, deeply believe that we’ve got to get to universal health care. And if you don’t start in favor of universal health care, you’ll never get there,” she said. “How can anybody run to be the Democratic nominee for president and not have a universal health care plan?”

“This is a huge difference, and it’s one that I obviously feel very passionately about,” she said.

Health care has gotten short shrift on the Clinton campaign trail as she’s focused on the economy of late. As his candidacy seemed less and less viable, John Edwards returned to his chief issue of poverty - and asked the remaining candidates to take up his cause. Though Clinton aides insist she’s a long way from dropping out, we may look back on this event in the coming weeks and see an impassioned plea for Senator Obama to take up the mantle of universal health care in her absence.

At this point Obama can win Man of the year as far as I am concerned, but he will never get my vote. I just switched my registration back to republican as I was supporting Hillary. The democratic party has left a bad taste in some of us Americans mouthes. Obama and his campaign actually think that he is going to automatically gain my vote? I DON’T THINK SO. It really doesn’t matter how many superdelegates come out for him because there are many hillary people who really (no bluff) are going to Mcain. Obama will loose primary due to his arrogance.

Comment by Mike

Please give it up Hillary both of the plans are Virtually the same. Obama mandates it for kids and gives adults the option to excercise it but also provides huge breaks to make if affordable. Hillary mandates it for everyone to have it what the real difference here is. If you would like to learn about Obama’s plans to learn first hand yourself with out the media’s spin. Here you go, please feel free

Comment by Arwa from AZ,

To tell you the truth the media and all the negatives Hillary has been throwing for the past several months due to desperation has left a bad taste in your mouth. Look at the things they use against him, come on is our lives that different that its hard to see right through Hillary’s lies. Also how can you really vote for a Candidate that wants to continue where Bush left off. None of the candidate are perfect but do you think Hillary and McCain really cared about you more than Obama.

Here is my opinion on the whole situation:

To all those that say, they will switch parties if Obama wins to McCain or if if if if Hillary wins to McCain or continue to use excuses for not telling the truth of how you really feel. Why and what are you trying to prove? Its time we start using our brains and not let our emotions get the best of us. To be honest in my humble opinion one has tried every and anything to destroy ones Image with nonesense and the other have taken the most positive and Unifying approach in our History. How can anyone truly believe Obama has tried to separate the party when the person behind him in every aspect (except for super delagetes, which will change soon) has personally attacked him using people around him. Obama could have easily destroyed the Clinton’s legacy if he was half as negative as she was, but what will that prove and how will that solve our problems. One thing I may add to those who question his judgment, are you really suggesting stating that Rev. Wright out weighs the WAR we are in. His judgment is questionable but when Clinton and McCain made one of the worst decisions in our History its ok, Sad (that in itself shows the double standard). I actually heard the comments both of the pastors who Endorsed McCain has said and it’s pretty offensive and divisive. I just wonder if they endorsed Obama and he accepted, how the media would run this like a chicken with its head cut off. The funny thing about the Rev. Wright Situation, Farrakhan, Ayers, the Elitist statement (which was taken out of context by the media and has a lot of truth to it) and etc, is that they are proving the very point many people were so offended by. I’m sure you remember When Clinton/McCain called the man who recently paid off his college loan an Elitist because of a statement he made that had a lot of truth to it, “Clinging to religion, gay marriage, guns and etc instead of the real issues which we are deeply hurting by NOW. Are you kidding me people or are you that afraid to see a black man in power, seriously because I don’t know how to take it anymore, someone please explain how Obama is an Elitist compared to McCain and Hillary. Hillary was born with a silver spoon not going to mention the school she attended or being worth well over $100 million, yeah I guess she really knows what it is like to struggle growing up. How can she be more in touch than someone who has been working in the very communities that are hurting and losing jobs for the last 20yrs and plus the man grew up with a single mother and his grandparents, for goodness sake his mother was on welfare at one point. McCain, this is the man who came out and said the American people are doing ok, who is he talking about? Not me or average Americans. This is a man that wants to continue Bush’s tax cuts, how can that be in touch? His wife is worth well over $100 million as well and he has a private jet, how in the world is someone that has a private jet going to understand your struggle. Obama just hit millions after selling his books and this was recent not the last 10 or even 20 years. Look at what they are using to bring this man down exactly what he said they would. Right now many people in this Blog are clinging to something other than the real issues..DUHHHH, to me it shows how blind, close minded and ignorant we can be. I believe Hillary has hurt their legacy on her own and helped Obama a great deal using the Republican approach. All of the negatives she has thrown at him will most likely be old news to those with common sense and actually do research by November. None of the candidates are perfect nor will there ever be a perfect candidate period. Also, to those who keep calling Obama black and somehow using that against him please stop. His has a white and black grandmother, a white mother and a black father, black uncle and a white uncle, a black aunt and a white aunt, a white cousin and a black cousin, hopefully you catch on to my point. We need to come tother people our hardship, struggles, the war, the economy, Health care, education, the division and etc that is far more important than our personal feelings that need to be addressed. This is 2008 America 40 years after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr movement and dream. Let us look past fear, gender, and race, because until we do that how can we change the way Washington has been ran for decades. Also, if Clinton and McCain are so concerned and truly care of how Washington have abused the Power we gave them than how come it took them this long or for Obama to point it out for them. Now they want to change it, now they are worried about the average person, now they want to reach out, now they want our voices to be heard, now you have to ask yourself is it because they want that power or because they care. Please don’t make the same mistake we as a country made by allowing Bush to do as he pleases or Continuously deceive us by using fear and your emotion to distort reality. Now we have a chance and an opportunity to use research not media, to use our brains not our emotions/fear, to use common sense not be naive and etc. Are you ready to move forward in a new direction or go back to the same old Politics? It’s up to you, more than ever you have the power to choose.

Many people are going to say I’m brain washed, lost, need help and so on. But I for the first time in my life truly believe and have faith that one person like MLK did 40 years ago can bridge the gap and bring us together if given the chance.

I will end by saying this Bill and Hillary Clinton can’t even beat this guy together, they are covering twice the amount of ground he has to and not to mention the deep roots the Clintons have, how in the world do you think McCain will have a chance unless Obama is wrong for believing in the American people and how far we have come. Fear will take over your emotions (which have been very evident) but the TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE AS DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR HAS PROVEN.

Peace N Love to all. I am also so happy that people all over the country are so involved regardless of there views I just hope more would use LOGIC.

FEAR WILL DEVIDE US AND TRUTH WILL ENLIGHTEN US

What religion was he before Rev. Wright ‘brought’ him into so-called christianity?

Is it true he was against the war as a stae senator because he wanted to show
his fellow muslim friends that he was for them instead?

Is he proud of sparking an unwanted race war?

What is his real plan for ‘redistribution of equity’ as he has put it?

Is anyone out there paying attention?

IN FACT, OBAMA IS MORE LIKE HIM THAN EITHER OF THEM.

Most of you on here are racist! Barak has never pulled the race card and you know it. As for having a race war are you that drawn up on conspiracies. Do you not love America that much until you are willing to fight another American over something pointless? or are minorities not American to you RT? One thing Obama has shown me is that people are going to remain who they are no matter what. If you are a racist you are a racist. RT you must be in a militia.

Hillary just can’t help it. The only avenue left to her is the backroom and that’s where all this bashing is headed. She can’t catch up in the primaries; the math is stacked against her. The only other option is to go the backroom route, but the democratic party is not going to allow the nomination to be taken away from Obama. Hillary did get the message about NAFTA, only too late. With it, she was able to round up the old Reagan-democrats in Ohio and Penn…..again, too late. However, at least “she” got the message. Neither McCain nor Obama seems to have been able to pick up on the same message, and that’s too bad. Obama says things about them in San Francisco and McCain is openly hostile to them; even having gone so far as to accuse them of being unpatriotic. It’s too bad, because Obama and McCain each need that group and neither of them seems to have awakened to that fact. Hillary was at least smart enough to keep her ears open and hear the message first before delivering it in a speech to the people who were sending her the message. That was smart politics on her part. Waiting until Ohio, to start using that message as a club, was not smart.

why educated people support Obama?
_____________________________________________
US colleges and universities are full of left wing extremist Professors like William Ayers. So educated people tend to support candidates like: Jimmy Carter (won because of backlash from watergate) , Hubert Humphrey, George McGovern, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Al Gore (hanging chad), John Kerry, and Barack Obama. Notice the pattern? All losers! What is really funny, is that they sometimes vote in an attempt to reanimate John F. Kennedy… Democrats have lost 7 of the last 10 presidential election, with nomminees backed by educated affluent liberals, college students, and African Americans. The record speaks for itself! Seems to me the Democratic party has a flaw in its nomminating process

I wish the DNC would put a stop to Hillary. Obama has the opportunity to win in November but Hillary doesn’t want to see that. She has been devisive since she became a Senator so why would anyone think she can bring a nation together? Obama is the only one trying to bring everyone together and he hasn’t taken the low road and attacked Hillary the way she has attacked him. I do think this country is ready for a woman president, but it isn’t Hillary. She will not work with the Republicans on anything and will just create more chaos for this country than we already have. If you can’t look beyond her words and see that she has her own agenda should she get elected, then you are not looking deep enough. As a white woman over 40 that is middle income, I support Obama all the way because he can bring the changes that this country needs. GO OBAMA!!

The comments are here are very telling. It is easy to see that they dynamic of ignorant, uneducated, racists supporting Clinton is in fact true. Do us all a favor and stop the drama queen behavior, if you want to switch and vote republican gjust do it, we don’t need your fake rationale. We already know the truth that behind the curtain you would never vote for any Black candidate. But try as you may your girl has already lost and so have you.

For the rest of rationale thinking white Americans you are facing a critical test. Will you vote for the best candidate (whomever you feel it is) irrespective of race or will you be blinded by racial hatred and irrational fears? While it is true Black people are overwhelmingly supporting Obama, we have long ago proven our ability to vote for a candidate even though his skin color is different from our own, welcome to our world!
