McCain: “The American people are angry”

ROCHESTER, MI — Asked about his infamous temper today, John McCain delivered a rousing response, exclaiming that he is just as angry as the rest of America with the corruption and wasteful spending in Washington.

“I will confess to you my friend that I get angry…I get angry when I see corruption to the point where we have former members of Congress residing in federal prison,” McCain said at a townhall meeting Wednesday, sounding at times like the Howard Beale character from the film “Network.” “And you know something? The American people are angry too and they’re not going to take it anymore. And that’s why they want change. And they’re mad and they’ve lost their temper. You know? These townhall meetings, ask them if they’re not mad! Ask ‘em. Ask ‘em the way their tax dollars and spending has gone completely out of control.”

Though journalists frequently ask McCain about his temperament, the question rarely come sup at townhall meetings. The questioner, a self-described Republican man said McCain’s temper was a “concern” before going on to quote Sen. Thad Cochran’s statement that McCain is too “erratic” and “hotheaded” to be President.

McCain initially joked with him, responding “how dare you ask that question? Take that microphone away from him,” drawing laughter from the crowd.

McCain went on to add, “I get angry when I saw a guy named Abramoff that ripped off Native Americans for millions and millions and millions of dollars and people ended up, including him, in federal prison. I get angry when I see 233 million of your tax dollars going to…a bridge to an island with 50 people on it. And that’s your dollars.”

Here is the scene from “Network:”

For anyone interested as to WHY there are Still those voting for and supporting Obama, this website will explain “in detail” what America would be like as a Socialist society. It is EXACTLY what Obama and his supporters “want”.

http://www.socialistaction.org/whenamerica.htm

THIS is What Obama represents and THIS is his CHANGE for America

Obama for Socialism?? Seriously, what color is the sky in your world? Where, in any capacity, have you ever seen any successful American politician actually run on such an absurd platform?? Socialism in “Me First” America?? Please…. If you have a problem with Barak Obama’s policies, then list the viable, spoken/debated proposals and opinions he has given that you can verify with neutral, fact based research. Otherwise you sound like a paranoid conspiracy theorist. You know, the type that puts aluminum foil over the windows and such?
I don’t mind that you disagree with anything that he says, but with the socialism arguement you are out in left field. And everyone else is across town at the local football field.

If the fair wage act and government controlled healthcare aren’t steps towards socialism, I don’t know what is.

Basic Political Science lesson:

Democracy only works when there is enough wealth and opportunities in the middle classes to discourage rebellion and violent dissent. Governments always fall when there is a majority of people who cannot feed, educate, house, or take care of themselves when sick. When you take those basic elements away, people grow dissatisfied and riot. Don’t believe me? Look at Africa and every other failed attempt introduce democracy into a dirt poor, uneducated region. There is a riots, a new controlling party every few months…. You get the picture.
State controlled healthcare is no different than state controlled education. It provides stability for a democratic process where the masses are not as likely to be swayed by extremist ideas as a knee-jerk reaction to some quickly given promise. The people can concentrate on long term solutions to problems when their basic needs are met. Healthcare is one of those needs.
There are many, many successfully democratic countries that incorporate free healthcare for its citizens without leaning towards socialism in the least. You pay the government to take care of many things already. The basic cost of healthcare can easily become one of them, leaving you open to spend the money on other things, like education and personal enrichment. What can be more capitalist American than that??
I like it…

Angry? Bitter? or is it Bitter? Angry? Are these terms somehow
related even in the remotest fashion? Means the same to me.
Oh, we get it. It’s just about WHO is saying it and using it. Okay
angry does sound better than bitter. Bitter equates too much
to hardship and struggle to survive. While ‘angry’ is the more
polite way of saying bitter.

OBAMA - EDWARDS ‘08

I AM A HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTER, BUT OBAMA GETS THE NOMINATION, I WILL VOTE FOR
YOU. HILLARY IN MY ESTIMATION IS A REMARKABLE STRONG HARD WORKING WOMAN WHO IS
WILLING TO FIGHT TO GIVE THE COMMON PERSON A DECENT CHANCE AND LIFE. I
ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT FOR OBAMA AFTER LEARNING ABOUT ALL HIS ASSOCIATIONS,
AND NEVER FELL FOR HIS SWEET NOTHINGS. I BELIEVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE
WOOL PULLED OVER THEIR EYES [MOSTLY THE AFRICAN AMERICANS, THE ELITE, AND THE
IMPRESSIONABLE YOUNG FOLKS. I ALSO QUESTION HIS JUDGEMENT AS WELL AS HIS PATROTISM. NOT TO MENTION HIS WIFE IS INSTANTLY UNLIKEABLE AND SMUG. HE IS MUCH TOO WEAK AND INEXPERIENCED TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY. IT WOULD ONLY
WEAKEN AMERICA. MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHAT DO YOU INTEND TO DO FOR THE MIDDLE
CLASS, COMMON PERSON WHO HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING TO RAISE THEIR FAMILIES AND HAVE
AND DESERVE A DECENT LIFE? I REALLY HAVE NOT SEEN YOU FIGHT [LIKE HILLARY WOULD]
FOR THE ORDINARY PERSON UP TO NOW OR HAVE ANY REAL CLEAR PRECISE PLAN AS SHE
DOES FOR US. LET US KNOW AND IF OBAMA IS THE NOMINEE, PLEASE CONDUCT A FAIR,
BUT STRONG CAMPAIGN AGAINST THIS GUY. I WOULD NOT PULLL ANY PUNCHES AND THAT’S
PROBABLY WHY I LIKE MRS CLINTON WHO IS ALSO A FIGHTER. AT ANY RATE ALL I’LL SAY
NOW IS GOD BLESS AND HEAL OUR LAND.

McCain talks about wasteful spending but he never mentions the Iraq war–we were told by his friend Bush that it would cost 60 billion. Current estimates of the total cost are between 1 and 3 TRILLION. Also, investigations are showing rampant war profiteering by defense contracters–Republican and Democratic taxpayers are being ripped off for billions of dollars. C’mon John, why so shy on this corruption?

I have voted all my life as a democrate but. I could never vote for a person that is a racist like obama is. I am proud to be an americam all time so this time if doe.s not get elected. I will vote republican because mccain is a proud americam

Keya, America is not a Democracy, it is a Republic…a nation of laws

One more comment–if you think McCain is Mr. Anti-Corruption, Google the name Charles Keating. Keating was a good friend of McCain who went to jail for financial fraud that cost taxpayers (Republicans and Democrats) over 3 billion dollars. If you want to judge candidates by the company they keep, ask McCain why he had a criminal as a friend.

Unfortunately Clinton is the only Democrat standing in the way of the elite far-lefts attempt to take full control of the Democratic Party. Read More about the New American Disenfrachisement.

How did Barack Obama become the front-runner? With little Washington experience, no foreign policy experiece, no record of ever crossing party lines either in Washington or in Illinois, and consistently trailing Clinton for 2 years prior to the first primary.

Want to know who is behind Obama’s sudden popularity?

I am so tired of hearing older, white americans cling to any excuse not to vote for Obama. Let’s be real about it. You don’t like the idea of “that Uppity Negra man” being president. I’d have alot more respect for you if you just came out and said it. Hillary’s pastor was convicted (this is a fact) of child molestation. But no one calls her a pedophile because she isn’t one and has never shown her self to be so. John McCain’s pastor has horrible views on gays. But no one calls him a bigot because he isn’t one and has never shown himself to be one. But Obama is a racist because his former pastor (mind you, Obama has never made himself out to be an every Sunday and twice during the week Christian) had some incredibly stupid things to say?? You can’t possibly believe that.
Here’s simple facts. Wright is a media hungry jerk (who just happens to be a member of the clergy) who says the most controversial things for an extra five minutes on TV. Case Closed.
Speaking of Florida… Isn’t the daughter of your govenor a drug addict? And I mean, not even functioning one… Does that make Jeb Bush a bad father and therefore a poor govenor?? Is his judgment bad because his daughter turned to drugs??
If you don’t like Obama, find a reason not to like his policies or his opinions. But don’t dismiss or dislike the man based on his associations with others. It shows you to be shallow and uninformed.

Pat,

You can’t be serious. I give McCain his credit for serving this country but anyone that wants to continue the policies of a failed government can never get my vote. Obama or Clinton, no matter which one wins will get my vote. Seriously are the people that are voting for McCain not feeling anything from this BUSH ADMINISTRATION. We are really doing bad today because of it.

Shallow and uninformed= voting for a candidate because he is the same color as you, even though his character is questionable and he has no experience

Keya,

Those were extremely valid points. But I’m positive that shows like Bill O’rielly, Hannity & Colmes & Fox n Friends will never report about those indept like they did about Rev. Wright.

Comment by keya hall

By saying “left field” I meant outside of the main action. This term is usually used in everyday vernacular to describe a person who is out of touch with reality.

As for the U.S. we are a “Democratic Republic”. That is a “democracy” based on “a framework of laws”. We use “democracy” to instill laws. Our bill of rights was based on a democratic vote to ratify it, though most of our legal system is based on English Commonlaw. Still makes us fundamentally a democracy. Your point is moot. Nice try though…

Comment by JLock

I agree Mill. That is so funny. Does calling Americans bitter warrant McCain the tagline, Elitist? Probably not right? No Spin Zone? I beg to differ.

Comment by sp

Left Field is where BO’s policies are based…far left, socialism or “progressive”, out of touch with reality and the American people. USA is a Republic. This is why your candidate will lose by a landslide in November.

Angry or bitter, thats the question…. Boy talk about flip flopping

Was fun to watch Fox News last night.. Looked like they only had a plan A, to talk about Hillary’s win and she could not deliver….

Comment by keya hall

Yes, a large amount of blacks voted for Obama. But here’s the cincher: Blacks only comprise 11 percent of the is country. A candidate can win without them, even though they can be extremely helpful. Besides, you forget that there are predominantly areas in the country that have taken an economic bullet to the chest during the last administration, including those whose sons and daughters make up a large percentage of the armed forces fighting and dying overseas. But those counties and the people in them would still vote for McCain rather than Obama because of the color of their skin.
Racism is alive. We all know that. I just prefer that people were totally honest about their feelings instead of coming up with intelligence insulting reasons not to vote for a black candidate.

Oh, and m-antony I am totally aware of why you don’t like me. I just happen to be one of those “uppity negra” that seem to be so common these days…

How can one believe that a big speech against racism is sincere, genuine and honest if you have had a racist preacher for 20 years?

Is it racist if over 90% of a race votes based on color?

Maybe you are exaggerating with the 100% most of the time. I think you know my point. You are a pretty smart one. Now half of this is that I like getting people like you madder than hades. You are so full of hate. It is pretty easy to get under your skin. Kind of like obama shows it everynow and again. He comes off as weak, snobish, racists, ect. Do not act alarmed when he abandons the community after your purpose has been served.

McCain’s anger? That’s exactlly what we need. An angry America.
We should all get angry — about pork barrel spending, ripping of Native Americans for millions and millions and millions, hundreds of millions of your tax dollars going to a bridge on an island with 50 people on it, when we have former members of Congress residing in federal prison!

“And you know something? The American people are angry too, and they’re not going to take it any more.”

Socialism?
Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement funds, 401Ks and Mutual Funds!)

She quotes…’We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.’ When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied: ‘We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help, along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profit taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as ‘Americans.’

Last week I saw McCain working as a GREETER at Wal-mart. He had to take a second job just to keep his campaign alive. It’s gonna be so lop-sided. One candidate who keeps breaking records for most fund-raising in presidential history and the other guy who has to beg for change.

If you peple think McCains got the better message then you’d better start digging deep. Dig so deep until it hurts then maybe, just maybe he can buy a spot or two.

Get over it!
With Obama, it’s not about race. It’s about the ability to make decisions. The ability to see, hear, and understand the events around you and the ideas that are being put forth by your council, your peers, your advisors.

And Obama just scares the hell out of responsible, clear thinking, Americans.
Here is a guy that doesn’t know how to make decisions. Not only did it take 20 years for him to discover his mentor is a racist and hates America, it took everyone else to point it out to him. Then it took a month or more to finally admit that Rev Wright is not the man he thought he was. The worst part, is he wasn’t able to shield his own children from that kind of brainwashing. How do we expect he will be able to make timely decisions, meaningful decisions. Those decisons that will protect Americans, safeguard America and lead ALL AMERICANS?

When the phone rings at 3am. Obama will not be able to make a decision on the crisis for another 20 years, and even then it will be someone else who will have to explain it to him.

I’m aware of what happens to invested money. But money that sits and rolls itself over (in a good scenario) doesn’t get put back into circulation. Unless this proposal comes with a massive tax for those who pass the money onto relatives, this doesn’t make any sense.

Comment by LJ Blue

Why would anyone but an corupt politician would spend money on a race he has already won. McCain has already won the primary. If he is the leader we expect, want and need, he should be conserving money for the real race to the White House, after the conventions.

The “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2008 (from JudicialWatch.org)
The list mentions Hillary Clinton (D-NY), John Conyers (D-MI), Larry Craig (R-ID), Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Rudy Giuliani (R-NY), Mike Huckabee (R-AR), I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, former Chief of Staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, Barack Obama, (D-IL) Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Harry Reid (D-NV).

And we keep electing them anyway.

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”
-Thomas Jefferson

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn’t know this. It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts!!!

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program.
He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put Into the Program would be deductible from Their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the Independent “Trust Fund” rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees Would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month –
And then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of The money we paid to the Federal government to “put Away” — you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent “Trust Fund” and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically Controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the “tie-breaking” deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US

AND MY FAVORITES:

Q. How many of you realize that you are paying DOUBLE TAXES on your Social Security??

A. You are TAXED on this $$$ when it is withheld from your paycheck and again when you receive your Social Security checks, Double Taxation!!!! $$$ Taken from you by the “Democrats”!!!

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That’ s right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, Began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, Even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!

Keya,

How bout this. I don’t like Obama’s economic plan. He wasn’t to double capital gains, and if he can raise them to over 40%. He even said 44% is the number he likes, and isn’t as bad as in the ’70’s when it was 70%. Do you understand what the increase of capital gains would do? Increasing capital gains will deter investment. Investors well then leave the U.S. and go elsewhere. If you think are economy is struggling now, just wait till capital gain’s tax skyrockets. If that isn’t bad enough he wants to increase income tax on the wealthy to 52%! That is insane! When he was asked who the rich were, he replied that it was everyone who made over 200K a year. That means that if someone who makes 200K gets to take home 96K. Yeah, that is a good idea. How is that going to help our economy? So he wants to stop new business by taxing capital gains, and slowing productivity by increase the income tax. Wow, that is such a good idea. Why would I vote for such a dolt?
It gets better. He wants to pull out of Iraq. The same issue that puts the dems in power in ‘06. How well has congress done on that one? In fact, how many times has that even been voted on? Exactly zero. I guess Obama will do it. Especially after he said that he would pull out the troops, but send them back if Al-Quaeda started to set up bases there? Oh, well doesn’t that sound smart. He will send troops back if what is happening in Iraq now continues to happen.
Maybe we should talk about his trade policies. He said that he would stop importing toys from China. I almost fell off my chair when he said that. It was almost as funny as his promise that he would have American car companies make enough American cars for everyone in the U.S. to drive one. He is just full of sage wisdom. Maybe we should vote for him because of his explicitly laid out health care plan. OH…i am still waiting for that. Other than a Nationalized system. It is working so well in Venezuela right now. We should do it too. Oh, and nationalization is a wonderful step toward full socialism. As is his plan of wealth redistribution. A quick lesson on how that works. In an amazingly corrupt socialist society, if the rich get richer the poor get poorer. If the poor get richer the rich get poorer. That is not how it works in a much less corrupt, capitalistic society. When the poor get richer, the rich get richer, and when the rich get poorer, the poor get poorer. Before you jump up and down and scream and shout about that logic. Stop. Breath. Think about it. People in capitalistic societies are usually rich for a reason. It may be that they were born into wealth and kept it, or that they were productive and produced something that was desirable enough to take money from those that were wiling to give it. If their money is just taken from them without their choice, they will do something to get it back. The poor, in general not always, are poor for a reason. Their are born into wealth and lost it, or they weren’t and didn’t do enough to get it. Everyone has different situations, but all can do it, if they are willing to sacrifice. Risk vs. Reward. In capitalism the rich will always take from the poor because the poor aren’t savvy enough to keep it. So just handing it too poor people doesn’t work. It has never worked in any society. History does teach us somethings.
I agree with you that we should ignore Rev. Wright and John Ayers, and actually look at Obama. I think if someone actually looks they will either vote for him because they live in a idealistic world created in their own mind that doesn’t match the real one, or they won’t vote for him at all.
A wise man once said, John McCain can’t say or do anything that would make me vote for him. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama can, however, say and do things that would make me vote for John McCain.

For the young, college students that Really Don’t understand what socialism is (you know, the Change Obama is wanting in Washington and America)…this article will tell you All you need to know to Understand just What you’re Voting for.

http://www.socialistaction. org/whenamerica.htm

If you Like it, vote for Obama …. If you Don’t Like it, don’t vote for Obama. It’s, pretty much, that simple. But, please educate yourselves on the Change you’re voting for.

I totally respect the reason you are not voting for Obama. You actually thought it out, weighed your options, and made a decision based on them. That is all I ever wanted to point out. I did the same thing and am going in a different direction, but I totally respect that fact that you disagree and actually have a logical reason for doing so.

Thank you!!

“I am so tired of hearing older, white americans cling to any excuse not to vote for Obama. Let’s be real about it. You don’t like the idea of “that Uppity Negra man” being president.”

First, how do you know the age or race of people who post online? Second, is racism the only reason why someone might not vote for Obama? You are making some big assumptions and throwng around some pretty serious allegations for which you have no support. You really need to rethink the way you address strangers.

Obama is a politician who is running for president. Voters are supposed to vote on a politician’s track record, plans and ideals. His legislative record is ultraliberal. His plans are more liberal and socialist that any other candidate in presidential history. We are not aloud to know what his ideals are. Apparently his pastor, wife and friends are off-limits when we are trying to figure out what he believes and how he views the world. We are left to hypothesize his ideals from his flowery speeches talking about hope and change.

The bottom line is that Obama’s politics are unappealing to a great many people. His race seems to be more of a boon than a bane in primary voting as he has capture 90+% of the Black vote. My question is, who are the racists here? Is it the majority of Blacks who vote for Obama as a group or the Whites who vote for Obama and Clinton in relatively even numbers?

Keya,

What makes you vote for Obama? What are the policies that he has that make him superior to Hillary Clinton?

10 things you should know about John McCain (but probably don’t):

John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has “evolved,” yet he’s continued to oppose key civil rights laws.1

According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain “will make Cheney look like Gandhi.”2

His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.3

McCain opposes a woman’s right to choose. He said, “I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned.”4

The Children’s Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children’s health care bill last year, then defended Bush’s veto of the bill.5

He’s one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a “second job” and skip their vacations.6

Many of McCain’s fellow Republican senators say he’s too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He’s erratic. He’s hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.”7

McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.8

McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his “spiritual guide,” Rod Parsley, believes America’s founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a “false religion.” McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God’s punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church “the Antichrist” and a “false cult.”9

He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.10

You are right John McCain.

People are angry!!!

It is shameful that we have lost 4000+ US troops in Iraq and after 5 years, you can’t commit to when we will bring our troops home.

It is shameful that our current administration is abusing our troops because it suits the Republican party agenda. John McCain is clearly embarrassed by his party’s handling of the war and wants to continue the abuse in an attempt to make some good out of a bad situation.

Why has ther been little progress in finding Bin Laden?

Why should we have to now defend Iraq from being taken over by Iran?

Why should trillions of our tax dollars be spent in Iraq?

How could I trust McCain’s judgement. A man who apparently didn’t think twice about a “love-child” outside the sacred bond of matrimony. It makes you think about the man’s spirituality. No way could I trust a man with such low morals.

I never said I was tired of whites not voting for Obama. I said I was tired of older whites coming up with dumb excuses that don’t have anything to do with the issues for not voting for Obama. If they dont’ like his economic plan, that is a reason not to vote for him. Not “I don’t like what his preacher said”.
——————————————–

I’m not voting for Obama because he lied about Rev. Wright 3 times.

I’m not voting for him because he sat and listened to this racist, hate spewing bigot for 20 years.

I’m not voting for him because his wife, Michelle, said America is mean and she wasn’t proud of the U.S.

I’m not voting for him because he IS uppity, period.

I’m not voting for him because hehas no experience to lead this country.

I could care less what color he is.

Ever notice how McCain always starts his sentences with “My Friend” or “My Friends”?

it’s annoying…almost as bad as Hilary always finding someone to point to when she’s on a stage. It’s that totally insincere politician way about them both.

Obama is either a lot slicker or genuine because I dont see that fakeness in him.
