eliteisim exist at ALL levels in our society…

to a poor man living under bridge asking for a handout(..panhandler) and getting turned down by a passerby who earns 20000(..poverty level)…could the poor man define this passerby as an eliteist?

to me…eliteisim is an attitude of superiority about your status in society versus the people around you and the people you come into contact with on a day-to-day basis.

When McCain calls Obama an elitist, he is not paying him a compliment. They are saying the Obama is an “uppity negro.” Elite usually refers to the upper crust. Socially superior due to wealth.

B. Obama can point to some periods in his life when he was part of the maases. Neikther hillary nor McCain can say that so how could thney know how ardinary people have it?

When Obama was a Columbia graduate and a community organizer, did that make him an elitist? If so was tghat bad?

I agree with the point that elitism is not the same thing as net worth, that it is more of an attitude, a belief that some life choices are better than others. And I grant that Obama is kind of elitist, but I like my presidents to to a cut above your regular Joe Shmo and to lead by example. He likes arugula, but you know, that’s healthier than McDonalds. Maybe if more of us ate arugula, there would be less obesity, less diabetes, less heart disease, who knows, maybe less depression in this country.

Now if by elitism, you mean the belief that one is inherently superior to others, I don’t think that can be said of Obama. He was a community organizer for years. He obviously believed passionately in the inherent worth of all people and their ability to improve their lives. He also clearly believes that the American people are smart enough not to be spoon fed the issues. He doesn’t water things down. He doesn’t say what we want to hear or offer quick fixes, like a summertime gas tax vacation that all the experts agree won’t work. These are complex issues, and he does us the honor of believing we can understand that. I can think of nothing less patronizing, less elitist.

Obviously this idiot doesn’t get it. Elitism is not defined by how much you make, it’s your overall attitude toward other people. And we’ve seen what a condescending a_s obama can be. But he does know how to wow people like “OBAMA WINS” (and “kathmandu”), simply because if they aren’t sophisticated enough to know the difference between the two, then they may just be stupid enough to vote for someone who has no experience whatsoever, lies through his teeth like a typical politician, and appears to disdain this country and our fighting men and women. They are begging to get taxed much more heavily in the future, they are begging for crappy quality medical care, and they are begging for foreign policy to go to hell in a handbasket…oh well, not gonna happen…
