Indiana Prepares for “Final Exam Day”
Indianapolis, IN—
Indiana is getting ready for a primary day tomorrow that Hoosiers here haven’t seen in at least 40 years. The excitement in the Obama-Clinton head to head has resulted in 303,893 new voter registrations, which includes 138,297 new and 165,596 updated registrations in the state. Even with the expected high turnout Secretary of State Todd Rokita expects “to have a fair and accurate election that incorporates integrity” and that they will have a “decisive tally” and a “true choice” of the people tomorrow night. Rokita is looking at tomorrow as “final exam day” and says Indiana’s 30,000 poll workers are ready for the test.
The highest centers of new voter registrations are in Marion County where Indianapolis is located and in the university towns—a good sign for Barack Obama even as Clinton leads the polls.
People could early vote, technically absentee voting, until noon today and there have been a record breaking 167,783 ballots cast—double the amount of a usual primary and close to the amount of early ballots cast in a general election. These votes will be counted throughout the day tomorrow.
Rokita says Indiana is prepared for their big day printing extra ballots, having more electronic voting machines, and training alternative poll workers, but he stresses no election is perfect:
“We have laws in place for when those mistakes happen and we have well trained leaders and poll workers to react to those issues when the pop up,” Rokita told reporters, “My biggest fear and it’s a wonderful fear to have. Is that there will be so many people. Such a high turn out there will be long lines. “
The polls open at 6am tomorrow and close at 6pm. 12 of the 92 counties are in central time, which means they will actually close at 7pm eastern. They believe turnout will be as heavy as a general election, but Rokita says that poll workers will be able to handle the crowds and will get everyone processed as fast as possible.
Historically, Indiana’s May primary has been too late in the year to really matter, but with the tight Democratic race Indiana is aware this is the first time the state has held the spotlight in a presidential process in 40 years. Rokita welcomes the attention and is confident that everyone who wants to vote tomorrow will be able to:
“From a presidential perspective yes it’s the first time we’ve mattered in 40 years and I welcome it. I hope Indiana can matter every year and that’s a different press conference,” Rokita said, “What I’m worried about is that all people get a chance to vote. I’m not worried that we have a perfect election. I do expect us to have an election that is fair and accurate in its integrity and if the poll workers are trained as I have been told and expect they are everyone that is 18 or older and a U.S citizen that wants to vote in tomorrow’s election should be able to.”
The clerk of Marion County, Beth White said she hasn’t seen excitement for an election like this in her lifetime. She doesn’t expect any voter irregularities tomorrow, but is cautioning voters to be patient:
“It’s important to know where they go to vote. Take the initiative to find out. Bring your I.D. It is now the settled law of this country. Be patient that’s my last request. It is going to be an election we haven’t seen. Not only the increased interest in voters, but also you the media. We have national exit polling companies coming to our community that we have never seen in my lifetime. So that’s going to be very different,” White said, “So we really do encourage our voters to be flexible, be patient and realize this primary is very important not just for them, but the entire country.”
Indiana has an open primary meaning that Independents and Republicans can vote in tomorrow’s Democratic primary. Known as crossover voting people can be challenged by poll-workers, but the challenge is almost impossible to prove and the voter only has to say that they intend to support the Democratic nominee in November.

It will be interesting to see if the remainder of the voters finally begin to realize that Hillary Clinton is by far a more capable candidate than either Obama or McCain.
One can only wonder how the followers of Rev. Wright’s Black Liberation Theology will be voting tomorrow … since they all hate America, it is difficult understanding how they rationalize participating in an American concept called voting.

Look into the $100,000 raise in one year that Michele recieved. Why would we want to hire someone with a dual citizenship US and Kenyan for our president. Just which country does his loyalties lie. I am hoping that the voters in Indiana will realize that Obama should not be running for any office in the United States of America let alone our highest office. Obama has shown poor judgement in his association with those who are against our country and maybe he associates with them because he is one of them. I feel that he is hiding a terrifying truth. Michelle Obama said just last week during one of her talks that he wants to “change everything” if he is elected and that is what I am afraid of.
Another thing. Obama did not care that Rev Wright spoke against America, he could not disown him or disassociate himself, but now that he said in front of the press club that Obama just says things because he politically has to, now Obama wants to disown him not because Rev Wright disrespects America, that didn’t matter to him, but he showed disrespect for Obama or in short told the truth about Obama. How stupid is Obama that he could sit in a church that spews hate towards America for 20 years being inspired and mentored by his hate filled pastor Rev Wright for 20 years and then wants to become President. Vicki, you can say that all you want, but the truth is America is not ready for a black man as our next President. Hillary has a high rating of distrust. People will still vote for her because they are not ready. Hillary has lied and pandered so many times and yet, you get up here and say, Hillary tells the truth and Obama is going to open the borders and everybody from Africa is going to come over. This is the racist comments that I read everyday. I keep asking people, if you had the chance to be a black person, would you do it. Nobody wants to. You know why? My guess is, you know you would be treated as second class. Thats why you feel like that and thats how you feel about Obama. You need to look at PA. obama only getting 28% of the white vote and Hillary got 8% of the black vote. NC is 74% white and 22% black. So if the trend continues, Hillary would get 2% black, 46% white, 2% other (split the other 50/50): 50 Hillary and 48 obama.
Oh and people, when Hillary was in the Senate for her first year, she voted against a no gas tax. Now she wants to say oh i’m for it.

They are more white blue collar workers who once again, said and it was on all news channel, that race played a role. When asked, they said they are not ready for a black man as President. Marc, no, it is YOU that is sad. I was raised in a home where ALL PEOPLE are treated equally. I was raised in a Christian home and now raise my children in a Christian home. We learned that our Heavenly Father created us all equally, no matter what color their skin is, what sex they are or where they leave or how they practice their faith.

It is not a race issue. I think it is more of a class issue (those who earn $60,000 or less) vote overwhelmingly for Hillary.
