Clinton Chases Checkered Flag in Carolina

MOORESVILLE, NC — Having run a race for the Democratic nomination for 15 months, Hillary Clinton soaked in a different kind of racing at the spiritual home of NASCAR – and couldn’t avoid comparing the country’s most popular sport to her own run around the political track.
“It’s an exciting race,” she said of the Democratic contest. “People think it’s worth coming out to, kind of like a big NASCAR event.”
“This is like the NASCAR of Democratic primary elections, because there are more people participating than have ever participated.”
Clinton may have been egged on in her liberal use of sports metaphors by her campaign partner for the day, North Carolina Governor Mike Easley. Flanked by classic cars and classic driver Junior Johnson at Mooresville’s NASCAR museum, Easley said the Bush administration has “had the caution flag out for way too long in our economy. And we’ve got somebody here who doesn’t know but one speed, and that’s the pedal to the metal.”
Touting Clinton’s experience, Easley said “she’s been around the track on more than one occasion. And she might have gotten loose from time to time but she never spun out and lost control”
“If you want to win the race, you put somebody in the car that knows how to drive, and they get it done,” he said.
Clinton agreed. “I’ve been nicked and bumped and knocked around a few times but I’ve managed to get to the finish line.”
Getting to that line in North Carolina will require just the kinds of voters who watch NASCAR. The Clinton campaign is reaching out to the white working class, needing a very strong majority to offset what is expected to be Obama’s big win among black voters — who will make up about 35% of the electorate.

It’s time for everyone to face the truth. Barack Obama has no real chance of winning the national election in November at this time. His crushing defeat in Pennsylvania makes that fact crystal clear. His best, and only real chance of winning in November is on a ticket with Hillary Clinton as her VP.
Hillary Clinton seemed almost somber at her Pennsylvania victory speech. As if part of her was hoping Obama could have proved he had some chance of winning against the republican attack machine, and their unlimited money, and resources.
But it is absolutely essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse in November. America, and the American people are in a very desperate condition now. And the whole World has been doing all that they can to help keep us propped up.
Hillary Clinton say’s that the heat, and decisions in the Whitehouse are much tougher than the ones on the campaign trail. But I think Mr. Obama faces a test of whether he has what it takes to be a commander and chief by facing the difficult facts, and the truth before him. And by doing what is best for the American people by dropping out of the race, and offering his whole hearted assistance to Hillary Clinton to help her take back the Whitehouse for the American people, and the World.
Mr. Obama is a great speaker. And I am confident he can explain to the American people the need, and wisdom of such a personal sacrifice for them. It should be clear to everyone by now that Hillary Clinton is fighting her heart out for the American people. She has known for a long time that Mr. Obama can not win this November. You have to remember that the Clinton’s have won the Whitehouse twice before. They know what it takes.
If Mr. Obama fails his test of commander and chief we can only hope that Hillary Clinton can continue her heroic fight for the American people. And that she prevails. She will need all the continual support and help we can give her. She may fight like a superhuman. But she is only human.

jacksmith, I’ve noticed you have toned down your rhetoric for the Clinton campaign but she just isn’t the right person for the job. She is too divisive, corrupt and brings out the worst in people. The fact she took more money from special interests than any other candidate shows she will be working hard for Them, not us.

More than half the voters will not vote for obama! 56% who heard speech less likely to vote for Obama, his unfavorable rating among registered voters up 37 percent!! Clinton leads McCain 48 to 41 percent among all registered voters, while Obama and McCain are tied. National lead dropped 10pts now tied with Senator Clinton and he is now losing in IN too. Once 25 pts ahead in NC now just 5pts- They are not going to give this Presidency to Obama because hes black and if we don’t blacks will stay home, so what? Obamas obviously support his feelings of anti-America and white hatred that the church endorses to stay for 20 years and raise young daughters in that atmosphere Obama can no longer plausibly claim innocence in this matter, because he is the one who has encouraged Wright by trying to excuse and explain his views. All of this is why it is no use for Obama to backpedal from his association with Reverend Wright, or to denounce him now, six weeks too late. It was Obama who sought to provide the Reverend Wright with immunity from criticism–and he can’t complain when the reverend tries to take full advantage of that immunity. This is the final collapse of the noble promise of the Obama campaign. Obama needs to tell us more about his relationship with Ayers. It’s important because voters might well wonder whether that relationship, coupled with Obama’s longtime relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is just the beginning of a pattern, a pattern in which Obama seems quite comfortable with people who really, really, really don’t like the United States of America. If you question him or his values or policies, you’re part of the “divisive, distracting” practices voters associate with Washington. If you become an unquestioning, adoring political groupie, you’re not. Them’s the Obama Rules.
One day after being drubbed by Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania to the tune of 200,000+ votes, Obama’s chief political adviser David Alexrod was on National Public Radio claiming that white working class Democrats barely exist and hardly matter.

Why is no one talking about this? Isn’t this a serious issue in a general election? This has been described as the campaign finance scandal of the new millennium and no one wants to discuss it.
