Clinton Gets Key Carolina Endorsement

RALEIGH, North Carolina — Hillary Clinton’s long odds in the Tar Heel state got a little shorter today, as she picked up the endorsement of popular North Carolina governor Mike Easley. A former Edwards supporter, the two-term executive was swayed by Clinton’s focus on issues he’s been passionate about – including education and innovation.
In announcing his endorsement, Easley said he was also drawn to her strength and experience. “There’s nothing I love more than a strong powerful woman, so I’ve been in hog heaven today,” he said. “This lady right here makes Rocky Balboa look like a pansy.”
Easley told the small crowd gathered at North Carolina State University that he was looking for a candidate who could turn the country around immediately – and took a jab at North Carolina frontrunner Barack Obama in the process. “There is a lot of yes we can and yes we should going around. Hillary Clinton is ready to deliver,” he said. That’s the difference. She’s ready to deliver today. Immediately.”
While the campaign has downplayed expectations in the state, Senator Clinton has spent a considerable amount of time here – targeting military families with a series of events featuring North Carolina native and former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Hugh Shelton, working class families concerned about the economy, and women with an event at Wake Forest University with Maya Angelou.
At NC State today, Clinton said she was “thrilled” to accept Easley’s endorsement. “Of course, it’s politically very meaningful, but even more than that it’s great to have someone who really understands what we have to do to transform our country to be prepared for the 21st century,” she said.
Praising Easley for making North Carolina a leader in biotech industries and improving the state’s education system, Clinton took her own oblique shots at what she’s called Obama’s rhetoric over results approach – saying “the governor and I have something in common. We think results matter.”
“There was a governor of my state, New York state, Mario Cuomo, who famously said one time ‘You campaign in poetry but you govern in prose.’ I think that’s pretty descriptive,” she said. “What you want is somebody who will deliver results.”
“Sometimes that’s not very glamorous, and it takes a lot of work, and some false starts and frustration. Bringing everybody together doesn’t necessarily mean they will all agree, she said. “It takes leadership to set a vision, to put forth the goals and the strategies. That is what Governor Easley has done in North Carolina. That’s what I will do as your president, and I’m honored to have his endorsement today.”
RealClearPolitics.com’s average of state polls shows Obama with a double digit lead here, but do sitting governors endorse a candidate who they expect to lose by 10 points or more just a week before the primary? With the campaign’s heavy focus on the state – including ad spending and appearances by President Bill Clinton – it seems clear they’re hoping for, and perhaps even expecting, a better result that the polls would indicate.

I’ve rethought my pro-Hillary stance. The above paragraph really looks like John McCain propaganda. John McCain has ACTUAL expereince compared to Hillary’s experience of being the first lady to a philandering egomaniac.
John McCain is strong. He not only survived torture for years, he reinlisted in the military after coming home. That takes some cajones. Crying during a softy interview is the opposite of strength and staying with a chronically unfaithful husband is either extreme weakness or political opportunism, take your pick.
I wouldn’t call being around Hillary “hog heaven” but she does have some really gross cankles. McCain’s certainly no Chippendale but coming from the military I bet he could crank out some pushups if he felt like it.
Hillary looks like Apollo Creed and Obama looks like the Rocky of the Democratic race. If you will remember, Apollo was the unanimous favorite to win the fight, Rocky fought back and almost won but Apollo pulled the victory out at the end. Everyone hated Apollo after that. That’s a lot like this nomination contest.
McCain on the other hand fought against some very accomplished and capable Republican contenders before coming from behind and blowing them out of the water. You like a true underdog story, check out what McCain did to win the nomination.
Lest we forget, Rocky Balboa lost!!! That was not a good choice for comparison.
I am surprised that Maya Angelou is supporting H. Clinton. I have read her books and I would have guessed her to be a very strong pro-Black advocate. I hope to hear her speak someday in person.

When you announced your bid for the White House, I was excited and ready to campaign for you. I read your book and admired you for your accomplishments. However, over time, I have become totally disappointed in your behavior, in your questionable integrity and in your overall performance in the campaign. I am also equally disappointed with President Clinton whom I supported during both of his terms. Many Obama supporters and some Republicans I have spoken to share this same sentiment. As I began to learn more about Senator Obama, I decided that his uniqueness, abilities, political experience, community contributions and insight make him the best candidate for our nation. I admire his ability to unite people of different experiences and backgrounds. He also knows how to overcome controversy, as we have seen several times during this campaign. One of the controversies was in reference to his church. You commented that you would no longer attend Trinity United Church of Christ, after hearing Rev. Wright’s statements. You mentioned that determining a pastor is a choice within our control. In the same context, we also have a choice in determining our mates. How is Barack’s decision to remain at Trinity UCC, the church that has nurtured his spirituality, different from your choice to stay married to President Clinton, following his inappropriate behavior with an intern? I see this as a similar personal decision. Please explain

It’s time for everyone to face the truth. Barack Obama has no real chance of winning the national election in November at this time. His crushing defeat in Pennsylvania makes that fact crystal clear. His best, and only real chance of winning in November is on a ticket with Hillary Clinton as her VP.
Hillary Clinton seemed almost somber at her Pennsylvania victory speech. As if part of her was hoping Obama could have proved he had some chance of winning against the republican attack machine, and their unlimited money, and resources.
But it is absolutely essential that the democrats take back the Whitehouse in November. America, and the American people are in a very desperate condition now. And the whole World has been doing all that they can to help keep us propped up.
Hillary Clinton say’s that the heat, and decisions in the Whitehouse are much tougher than the ones on the campaign trail. But I think Mr. Obama faces a test of whether he has what it takes to be a commander and chief by facing the difficult facts, and the truth before him. And by doing what is best for the American people by dropping out of the race, and offering his whole hearted assistance to Hillary Clinton to help her take back the Whitehouse for the American people, and the World.
Mr. Obama is a great speaker. And I am confident he can explain to the American people the need, and wisdom of such a personal sacrifice for them. It should be clear to everyone by now that Hillary Clinton is fighting her heart out for the American people. She has known for a long time that Mr. Obama can not win this November. You have to remember that the Clinton’s have won the Whitehouse twice before. They know what it takes.
If Mr. Obama fails his test of commander and chief we can only hope that Hillary Clinton can continue her heroic fight for the American people. And that she prevails. She will need all the continual support and help we can give her. She may fight like a superhuman. But she is only human.

PELOSI, DEAN, REID, KENNEDY AND KERRY HAVE DESTROYED THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. WE HAVE 50 STATES — NOT 48. I REALIZE PELOSI WANTS TO BE THE FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT BUT SHE SHOULD NOT DESTROY THE PARTY IN THE PROCESS!
Obama has had plenty of opportunities, during this race, AND during the past 20 years, to do what he did on April 29, but Rev. Wright had never put Obama down before. That made him willing to turn against the pastor, who — a few weeks ago Obama said that he could never turn from. Obama will say anything to get what he wants.
Because he has now disrespected Obama, Obama is now willing to confront Wright’s horrible remarks — one by one. HE SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS AT LEAST A YEAR AGO! TOO LITTLE — TOO LATE.
Obama listened to and approved of Wright for 20 years. It’s impossible to believe that he never heard Wright’s radical rants. Obama is not that stupid. This is the very philosophy of the church that he has attended for years. If he has that much “blindness” on something as important as foundational philosophical beliefs of his own church, why would he think he could deal with crafty foreign leaders and run our country?
If you listen to Michelle Obama, it certainly sounds like she has heard and believed the teachings against America, that have been preached by her pastor. Don’t forget Obama’s ties to Ayers, Rezko, Farrakhan, Malcolm X, the Black Panthers, and many other anti-Americans and terrorists.
May God help us to have the grace and love to do what s right for our country — no matter what our skin color. Race is a factor — we are all members of the Human Race!

Does anyone notice how the GOP is still gunning for Obama? They certainly know that he is the real threat to their agenda and their candidate. Even KARL ROVE is writing articles using twisted statistics to try and bolster Clinton’s momentum.
