Remainders: McCain in the Bayou
Baton Rouge, LA — McCain’s Thursday was chock-full of news given that he conducted three 20 minute-plus media legs aboard his Straight Talk bus, a nearly 30-minute media availability in New Orleans, a walking tour of the Lower Ninth Ward, a nearly 90-minute town hall meeting at Xavier University and delivered a speech Thursday evening in Baton Rouge
Some McCain news that I didn’t have time to blog about earlier today: (I will try to do this on a regular basis when necessary)
—Terrorism at the pump? McCain said he agreed with a questioner at the Xavier University town hall who said the high price of gas is a kind of “terrorism.” “You’re right, terrorism of gas prices,” McCain responded.
—On why Bill Ayers is a legitimate political issue against Obama but Jeremiah Wright not: McCain told reporters on the third leg of his bus tour today that while Wright has said that his more controversial, well-publicized comments don’t reflect his overall views, Ayers is a “unrepentant terrorist.”
“Reverend Wright has said that those were snippets and those aren’t his views and he repudiates those kind of views. Mr. Ayers said right after 9/11, 2001 that he wished he bombed more, that he had destroyed more…that’s unbelievable to me,” McCain said, repeating his demand that Obama call on Ayers to repudiate his past. “And someone who launches your political career in their home–I think that’s more than a casual relationship.”
—McCain under fire: Speaking to a largely black, liberal audience at his Xavier University town hall, McCain was grilled about his views on tax cuts, the war in Iraq and education, among other issues. ” At one point, about one hour in, a questioner saw fit to tell McCain that “everybody in the camp here is not a Republican.” McCain quipped, “I got that impression.”
—A realistic Mac: During the town hall, he repeated his understanding that campaigning in largely impoverished and black areas this week may have little benefit at the polls–but he said he has a larger goal. “I don’t know how many votes I am going to get in Selma, Alabama. I don’t know how many votes that I will get here in the city of New Orleans. But I want to assure every American..that I will be President of all the people–every single one of them.”
—Cindy hits late night: Cindy McCain is scheduled to appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno next Wednesday night, McCain noted during his Baton Rouge speech.

I think the Wright thing matters as well. He searched for and found a Wright type and sat in it foer 20 years. Then claimed he was deaf and dumb during it.
But McCain is right Ayers and Obama is more then just a casual relationship and much worse then Wright.
Chock full, not chalk.
I admire McCain’s personal integrity. I also admire the fact that he’s fighting to lead this country—-after 5.5 years as a POW, he shouldn’t have to fight or do anything else for this country.
What I really like about him is that he IS NOT IN BED with the oil companies and the cattle ranchers, both of whom ruin the economy and/or the environment/wildlife.

I agree with you there.
These people that believe that Rev. Wright is some kind of “BIG” story were not going to vote for BO anyways. Those that care to know the truth about Wright and his church have already done the research and know this is nothing but another one of those right-wing smear attempt. TIME TO GROW UP PEOPLE. Our country is going down the crapper and you’re going to elect someone based on something his retired pastor said or something a friend did 38 years ago? We have to be smarter than this for ourselves and our children. I believe Americans ARE smart and the blow-back from these types of smears will not be seen as “politics and usual.” The blow-back will become stronger and stronger against the GOP attack machine. I hope it cripples the GOP for years to come.

The subjects of the IRREVERENT Wright, Mr Rezko, Mr Ayers, and the rest of the not so credible friends of Barack are certainly issues that need exploring as it speaks to Baracks character. Now I know the Barack supporters don’t feel the same way, but I think it’d be much different if say McCain had these relationships.
If your candidate (Barack) has nothing to fear from these acquaintenances, then why is it that anytime anyone brings them up you guys/gals get all upset? Strange! If it’s not a big deal then why would you care what we discuss?

To be blunt, if you think that it isn’t legitimate to be concerned about a man wanting to be President of the United States having relations with a racist/anti-American bigot (Rev. Wright) and associated with William Ayers (a known terrorist), you’ve got a serious judgement problem.
What is so good about someone talking about things, if you can’t believe a thing they’re saying? At this point I don’t believe Obama on anything.
Originally, I was more scared of the implications of Hillary being President and how she’d wreck the country. When the stuff about Rev. Wright and Ayers came out, I actually find I’m more afraid of what would happen with Obama being President.
Then there is the fact when someone criticizes Obama, they’re called a racist, that’s classic McArthism (sp?).

FACTS WHY BOTH McCAIN & OBAMA WANTS SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON DROP OUT NOW:
Both Obama and McCain knows this.
ELECTORAL VOTES is the most important count in the general election. HILLARY IS FAR MORE AHEAD IN THE ELECTORAL VOTES AS OF THIS TIME.
This is why Senator Hillary Clinton will win this November if she’s the nominee.
That’s why John McCain is insisting to remove the AD in television (FOR NOW) that will deminish Obama’s electability. The Ad reflecting the association of Obama to some controversial figures such as Racist Pastor Jeremiah Wright Jr., Ayers, Rezko, etc., are one of the many reasons why Obama is losing in some states. McCain and GOP knew they can easily beat Obama than Hillary Clinton.
That’s also the purpose of Operation Chaos by the GOP to create a perception in the minds of the Clinton’s supporters, that Hillary is just winning because of this operation to deceive and destroy the faith of those who support the good senator from New York. But in reality this operation chaos is trying to help Obama the weakest candidate in the party and at the same time creating divisions among the democrats. GOP Surrogates are playing with the Democrats and are pretending that they are questioning Obama’s character, but at the same time saying that Senator Clinton has no way to overtake obama in the pledge delegates and popular votes by insisting that MI and FL should not be counted “AS PER DNC RULES”…
Obama also was advised by someone close to GOP people to avoid debating Clinton till after Indiana and NC primaries…(According to Obama Camp hamster/insider…????)
Obama Camp is now arguing that Senator Clinton is the most hated candidate and therefore will lose against McCain. This is included in the GOP plan to paint Senator Clinton as the most Hated Candidate than Obama and therefore can’t win. Right now, the GOP was able to infiltrate the Democrats through “OPERATION CHAOS”. GOP is also “USING RACE CARD” in their favor to create divisions among DEMOCRATS. GOP surrogates (Hannity, Limbaugh, etal.) are reporting any thing that will touch racism especially if it involve anybody from the Clinton Camp and are very happy with the result as of this moment.
DNC LEADERS AND ELDERS must know this facts!
They must call for UNITY A.S.A.P. within the Party before it is too late and
MUST SUPPORT SENATOR CLINTON to win back the White House in this November election.
GOP will be very happy if Obama (the weakest candidate) get the nod by the DNC Leaders.
But they are ready on DAY 1 and all prepared to DESTROY OBAMA if he becomes the nominee.

I saw the entire interview, I was initially upset that Obama’s pastor was a liability, and why he stayed in that church.
After the interview, I had tears in my eyes, I had to say I felt ashemed by judging Rev. Wright.
IT’S AMAIZING HOW SOUND BITES CAN PAINT A PICTURE SO FAR FROM THE REAL MEANING AND UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT REV. WRIGHT MENT!!!!

I have to say as a traditional protestant Christian, church going for my entire life, I would LOVE to have a Pastor so intelligent and inspiring as Rev. Wright. PLease see the interview, you will understand exactly what he was saying.
THis is a man who served with the Marines for 6 years, was close to Linden Jhonson, did amaizing work with the community, and the context of the entire sermon regarding the sound bites, made a lot of sense. No wonder Bill CLinton invited him to the White House.
