Obama Can’t Be An Elitist If He Only Owns Four Pairs of Shoes
Reporters learned a little about Barack Obama’s wardrobe and style today at a press conference in Indianapolis today. “I basically buy five of the same suit, and then I patch them up and wear them repeatedly. I have four pairs of shoes. Recently I’ve taken to getting a haircut more frequently than I used to because my mother-in-law makes fun of me,” Obama told a gaggle of journalists.
Why, you ask? The dapper candidate was asked by a reporter if accusations that he is too much like a “GQ cover” and aloof create an image problem where he can’t relate to working class folks. “I don’t want to go out of my way to sort of prove my street cred as a down to earth guy,” Obama noted, but managed to give a four-minute long answer out of his 22-minute Q&A with reporters.
Regular guy Obama, still sensitive to stories about his lack of bowling skills, promised to practice. “Although the fact that you guys reported that as if I had actually bowled ten frames – particularly those of you who were there – that just was underhanded,” he said with a smile, reminding reporters he only bowled seven out of the ten frames and let two children each take turns. “None of that ever came out. What happened? Maria?” he said, gesturing to a television producer who witnessed the infamous contest.
The candidate then turned serious. “I think one of the things that we’re gonna have to do during the next several weeks is just remind people of where I come from, because it’s true that both the Republicans and my opponents to some degree have been trying to paint me as, you know, this elitist - out of touch,” he said. Of course soon after Obama’s comments surfaced that “bitter” Pennsylvanians “cling” to gun and God, both Senators Clinton and McCain described the comments as elitist and the label has stuck - an effective tool in politics (remember John Kerry windsurfing?).
“It’s hard for me to figure that out given that I was raised with far fewer advantages than either of my two remaining opponents,” he said, bringing up his student loans, the fact that his wife’s parents didn’t go to college, and his meager upbringing with his Kansas born grandparents “where, you know, the dinner table would have been very familiar to anybody here in Indiana – a lot of pot roast and potatoes and Jello molds.”
Obama hopes Indiana voters will see the man who struggled in the past - not just the one who last year made more than $4 million. “How I got to where I am today, and when [voters] understand that, I think they’ll recognize themselves and that my struggles are theirs and together we can change the country,” he said.

What the heck does pairs of shoes have to do with anything?
Obama is a guy right? No offense meant towards women but you normally associate having large quanties in shoe pairs to women, not men.
Second, you don’t have to be filthy rich to be an elitist, just take a look at some college professors (particularly in the liberal arts field or political science), many of them are elitist as all getout.
Duh. Elitism is not about one’s net worth - it’s about one’s attitude. And Obama’s attitude is all about elitism.
Reporters should be told the definition of “liberal elitist” before they put their collective feet in their mouths.
Obama also attended an elite school in Hawaii, spent a portion of his childhood in Indonesia and attended Harvard….he knows rural America like he knows the moons of Jupiter.
It is all about ATTITUTE!!!!! Obama is ARROGANT!
I’ll bet Miss Michele has 44 pairs of shoes!
Obama is the one that went to SF and talked about people clinging to their guns and religion out of frustration. He is an elist.
He is now trying to get us to feel sorry for him - they both had alot of money, he can afford shoes.
He probably buys those fancy italian shoes that cost 1200.00 a pair. That is why he only has four pairs, cry baby.
Roland Martin said that Obama has to talk to the blue collar workers and tell them stuff like that, so they will think he can relate to him. Smoke screen and mirrors.
To BRENDA IN SC…….Maybe REZKO bought them for him.
The media has tried from day one to shove this man down our throats. I think that most Americans have realized by now that the media can’t fool most of us. Now the media is trying to portray Obama like this down to earth man. The term elitist refers to someone who believes that they are better than everyone else or someone who is out of touch with the common people. I think no matter how hard he tries to connect with the working class people he just comes across as aloof and condescending. After his defeat in Pennsylvania he had to go hide in Chicago because the man can not handle the heat like Hillary said. We need a fighter in Washington not someone who can’t handle defeat or criticism. This man is doing tremendous harm to the Democratic Party and he should drop ou of the race.
Something we all have over looked, there has been a Bush or a Clinton in power since 1980, that is 28 years. This is not United State of Bush/Clinton, it is the United States Of America. its about time we get rid of this dynastic rule. 8 years from now it will be Jeb Bush running, can you imagine folks 2 terms for Hillary and then 2 for Jeb Bush. it will 44 years of 2 families ruling this country, sounds like a monarchy to me !!! Time to change folks, our forefathers never saw this coming, we being ruled by a 2 family system
He is a nice guy and far more honest than the rest, dont you see the things his campaign could be doing to the Clintons. Grow up!!!!
Bella in Florida
You are exactly right. I couln’t have said it better.
He probably buys more shoes than he keeps. Everytime he goes to a rural, bitter, typically white, community, I bet he trows his shoes away, so he doesn`t track any of that old whiteness into his house.
Wow…. He really Doesn’t know what an Elitist is. It is Not about how Much money you have. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeez.
Steve …. true, true. McCain in ‘08

I am Honored to Say I am With Hillary for the Long Run
by Dr. Maya Angelou4/24/2008 2:39:10 PMDear Friend:
I am writing to tell you about my friend, Hillary Clinton, and why I am standing with her in her campaign for the presidency. I know the kind of president Hillary Clinton will be because I know the person she is.
I am inspired by her courage and her honesty. She is a reliable and trustworthy person. She is someone I not only admire but one for whom I have profound affection.
Hillary does not waver in standing up for those who need a champion. She has always been a passionate protector of families. As a child, she was taught that all God’s children are equal, and as a mother, she understood that her child wasn’t safe unless all children were safe. As I wrote about Hillary recently in a praise song: “She is the prayer of every woman, and every man who longs for fair play, healthy families, good schools and a balanced economy.”
It may be easy to view Hillary Clinton through the narrow lens of those who would write her off or grind her down. Hillary sees us as we are, black and brown and white and yellow and pink and relishes our differences knowing that fundamentally we are all more alike than we are unalike. She is able to look through complexion and see community.
She has endured great scrutiny, and still she dares greatly. Hillary Clinton will not give up on you, and all she asks is that you do not give up on her. She is a long-distance runner. I am honored to say I am with her for the long run.
I am supporting Hillary Clinton because I know that she will make the most positive difference in people’s lives and she will help our country become what it can be. Whether you are her supporter, leaning towards her, undecided, or supporting someone else, I believe Hillary Clinton will represent you – she will be a president for all Americans. It is no small thing that along the way we will make history together.
Vote for Hillary Clinton and show your support at http://www.hillaryclinton.com. I know she will make us proud.
So what if Bill Clinton was president for 8 years. What did you not like about the prosperity? Homes were increasing value, more jobs and everyone that wanted a job had the opportunity to get one.
See what Maya Angelou’s letter:

I agree, so he’s a crappy dresser…doesnt mean anything, he lives in a 2 million dollar house and is smart enough to take advantage of political relationships to further his own desires (Tony Resko). Sorry I’m not buying this dodge anymore than I believed him when he said he never heard his pastor Rev Wright saying hateful things.
Senator Obama is the only person in the contest that knows something about growing up in main stream America. McCain and Hillary have lived a majority of their privileged lives away from the hustle and bustle common folk deal with and neither can understand nor identify with the lifestyle of those earning less than 50K a year.
First of all…..he’s a DUDE!! Straight men don’t have tons of shoes.
Secondly, maybe those 4 pair of shoes that he DOES have cost $200+ each. Ever thought of that possibility. I’d say thats elitist, wouldn’t you?
What an ignorant story! You journalists need to learn to think outside of the box. And BTW, quit drinking that Obama Kool-Aid.
He IS an elitist….he’s proved that more than once and his shoes have nothing to do w/ it. And the “GQ” comment…..wow….that one fits perfect!
Clyburn should just come right out and say he’s for Barack Obama. Look, I’m a black man and I truly believe that once again they’re playing the race card and are trying to make Bill Clinton the bad guy. When Bill Clinton was president he championed the cause of black people. So while Clyburn is pushing his agenda he should at least have enough decency to stop saying the things he’s saying about Clinton. To bring up the impeachment was the lowest of any of the campaign stunts so far and I hope black americans see it and vote with their heads and not their hearts.
How did the Clintons do in court today. They have a court date in Los Angeles for fraud. Anyone have an update?
I have two grandchildren who went to private schools their father was on disabity their mom didnt work ,all four years where on scholorships for both of them Why because they were smart so Barack and his wife could of done the same things .THere are pell grants and loans both of them are very smart they both have good jobs and any of you out there can do the same thing if you want it is the choices you make they made good one I can not understand why everyone is so jealous of them you have the same chance .

Do you beleive that God agrees with everything the US does? What was so wrong about waht REV Wright said? Maybe GOD did dammed America. If America is the beacon of truth and justice. Why did 9/11 happen? Why is the war going so badly? Why is economy so bad? Why? GOD loves us all. In GOD we trust. Maybe GOD is trying to tell us something from these events. Maybe the US isn’t so truthful and justfull. People always ask GOD to bless America. Well maybe America needs to start doing more things for GOD’s blessings.

The cult believes anything Obama tells them. They are all like little sheep. Michelle Obama says she wants more white people behind her when she gives a speech. So I always look to see who the little trophies are for the day. White people are not racist. Obama and Michelle are.

hey how do u make ur name appear blue
Some Basics on How the Democratic Party Arrived at its Current Nomination Process
Of primaries and presidential nominees
1. The end of winner-takes-all primaries:
The 1968 Democratic Party Convention in Chicago was extremely contentious. George McGovern narrowly lost the nomination to Hubert Humphrey, who in turn, narrowly lost the general election to Richard Nixon.
As a direct result, McGovern led a commission to change the Democratic National Party’s approach to allocating delegates elected in state contests. The Party adopted the McGovern commission recommendations, abandoned a winner takes all approach to the state contests, and permitted states to allocate delegates according to a variety of formulas, each chosen by state parties themselves.
The McGovern commission claimed the change would ensure greater representation of diverse voices in the nomination process. A more cynical take: by implementing this change, McGovern helped to ensure his nomination as the party’s nominee in 1972.
With McGovern as the 1972 nominee, the Democratic Party suffered a catastrophe. Richard Nixon won all but one state, Massachusetts. Nixon even won McGovern’s home state, South Dakota. Nixon’s 60.7% of the popular vote was the highest percentage ever won by a Republican candidate. Nixon won 521 electoral votes versus McGovern’s 17.
2. The introduction of “superdelegates”:
Whatever the intentions of the McGovern commission, the result was to create a process that made it more likely that the Democrat’s presidential nominee would be to the left of the party’s base and that meant being far to the left of most American voters.
Rather than return to the pre-Govern commission winner-takes-all approach, however, the party decided to introduce a different kind of check on its process. Balancing the legitimate concern of maintaining diversity of voice in state contests, the party introduced superdelegates, who were meant to block self-defeating nominees (e.g. McGovern, who simply never had a chance against Nixon). Note: this sort of check and balance system to produce good representation is what is used in the U.S. Constitution and individual state constitutions.
3. Who the “superdelegates” are:
Superdelegates are not elites or backroom bigshots. While they include elected officials, some who hold high state office, they also include a large number of rank-and-file Democrats who work on behalf of the Party to make sure that its infrastructure and daily operations remain in place between presidential election years.
This pool – elected officials and dedicated Party members – was thought to be able to add a pragmatic and somewhat broader or longer-term perspective to the nominating process. In short, the point of having superdelegates is to make sure that the party does not run nominees who are highly unlikely to win in the general election, or put slightly differently, to consider a candidate’s appeal to the broader voting population that participates in the general election.
are you going to comment on Olbermann’s disgusting remarks regarding Hillary?

Everyone on this website are a bunch of sheep. BAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
This country is really sick. God bless America, but most of the people in American are sheep. Just liten to what you guys are talking about. Does anyone have a valuable argument about Obama.
1. He is a bad bowler-True
2. He is friends with terriorist–False
3. His Pastor Hates America-False
4. He doesn’t wear a flag on his suits.-True
OMG is this all you have on the man. False aqcusations and stupid insufficant tibits about bowling and flag pins. Is being an American citizen like being in a club. You have to wear your membership pin to show memebership. To many people hide behind the flag and it makes sick. To many of you cry out God bless America and your the ones damming it. I live my country and I hope you know that even though I don’t wear a flag pin on my chest. And so what if he can’t bowl. Bush can’t run the country but you still voted for him twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donna Brazile flapping her tongue again on CNN, she is such an Obama suck-up.
Losers.
I guess 4 pairs of shoes is better than his one pair of underwear he wears each day. What don’t they talk about his purple lips and where these come from?
How can this county unite when we are so devided. Listen to yourselfs. There is so much racist attuide in our country and yet we claim to be the strongest county in the world. We are not setting a good example for our children. Are we wanting another civil rights war. I am a white older womam and I accept people for who they are not the color of their skin. I have lived in this wonderful country of America for 61 years and I pray that we are going in the right direction. Shame on you .
Hey HRC supporters: Obama is WINNING. So GET OVER IT. Don’t vote for him, who cares? Personally, speaking as an Obamabot, WE DON’T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOU OR YOUR HATRED. We are going to WIN WITH OR WITHOUT YOU. So go ahead, act like children and VOTE FOR MCCAIN. And when our troops are still stuck in Iraq in 4 years you can send them each a personal letter explaining why trying to elect Hillary Clinton was far more important than BRINGING THEM HOME SAFELY.
Don’t all pounch on me at once, but….if Obama’s dad was of Muslim heritage and Obama’s stepdad was full muslim, why is Obama not an Arab-American? I’m serious….I’d really like to know why Obama supporters think he grew up in the poor areas of America and feel he relates to them. He, himself, grew up quite well off and there are Millions of Americans whose dad left the family unit when the kids are quite young.
Fox, I guess you are on the Kool-aide now too.
_______________________________________________
So Senator Obama CAN’t be an elitist.
After all, he had student loans. But to HARVARD? Isn’t that considered one of the ELITE universities in American? For a LAW degree?
His WIFE’s parents didn’t go to college. So that’s supposed to reflect on HIS upbringing? What, did he marry her when he was 10 or something?
He ate a lot of pot roast at his grandparents. This somehow PROVES he couldn’t be an elitist? It shows how he can relate to people in Indiana? How many of you people in Indiana can even AFFORD a LOT OF POT ROAST?
Personally, his views on proof that he couldn’t be an elitist rank right up there with his views on what constitutes small-town America. In my opinion, his views on what IS or IS NOT an elitist don’t happen to coincide. Just my personal opinion and thoughts on the subject.
Oh and regarding the Clinton’s court case, with PETER PAUL:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=49887

Saying that people that do not support him are uneducated and racists is something that really bothers me about his supporters. You all need to stop playing the race card. Hillary supporters do not support him because he is not qualified nor ready for the presidency of the U.S.

You can go be a member of Rev. Wrights church. He takes new members all the time.
I agree with the Hillary shill above that said “Hillary sees us as we are, black and brown and white and yellow and pink and relishes our differences knowing that fundamentally we are all more alike than we are unalike.” Yep, “she is able to look through complexion and…” see right into your pockets. A good politician is one who will do anything for money and power.
I like how he has evolved into the “black candidate” . He could careless about back people in the ghettos, now if you are a Friscan black, he is your guy!
Hey Bambi,
I don’t want to the change the country, I like the country fine. I want someone who knows how change policies and create new ones that works for people.
I don’t want anyone changing the country to look like Kenya or any other country in the world for that matter.
Enough of this crap about changing the the country. I bet you no one wants to change the country besides you Twinkie followers.
Debbie,
There you go again, I sent you several E-Mails last week on this same subject. Barack did not grow well off.
From birth to 6 years, he lived with his mother in the U.S., getting help from the grandparents. He saw his father for the first time when he was 10 years old, for a month.
He lived in Indonesia for 4 years, 2 of which he went to Catholic School and 2 to a Muslim school. They did okay in Indonesia, but there was a lot of strife, so his Grandparents asked his mom to send him back and he could live with them. He went to the Hawaiian school mostly on Scholarships. They were by NO MEANS WEALTHY.
How does Muslim translate to Arab-American???? There are Muslims all over the World.
THANK YOU HEATHER, WHAT A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!!!
wow fox crowd you never cease to amaze me, whatever happened to real issues you guys are worried about the shoes the guy wears. if any of you actually have any education or intelect for that matter you would realize that obama is the only decent one and his inexperience is more a plus than a fault atleast his principles and reason has not been tainted by washington like the rest of the candidates. i am a 40yr old white man without a bachelor degree and i run a marketing firm and my vote goes for obama. i was just like the rest of you when i first heard of obama i thought arent you supposed to be american to run for president, but you live and you learn after much reasonable consideration i realized my ignorance and determined obama as the best candidate but it does take some “thought” which the majority of the masses does not do. you let the media or first impressions determine your decisions.
Obama brings the African-American votes, the young (19 - 29) and the upscalers (earing $50,000+ and college educated). Obama needs a suitable Vice-President to capture Clinton’s core supporters (women \ working class) in November. Nancy Polsi (House Speaker) would be ideal (my first choice). Kathleen Sibelius (Governor of Kansas) would also be suitable (my second choice). Mr Bloomberg (New York Mayor) (my third choice) would bring expertise in economic matters (which should ease concerns ofworking class voters about the economy) and also bring the Jewish voters in Florida \ New York. Speaking on “Larry King Live” Ms Nancy Pelosi made it clear that a Clinton \ Obama joint ticket was a bad idea. I agree with her views.
debbie ….go here and read it for yourself http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org
I guess Obama’s inexeperienc is ok if you want John Kerry and Ted Kennedy running the country. Although, had we wanted them we would have voted for them.

And you think Hill/Billy with their years of lies, thieving, scandal should be back in the White House? You wonder why the Obama supporters say what they say about her followers???
To Beverly, Houston…. What??? I’ve Never received an email from you. I got my info from Obama’s books. And what you said and what I said are pretty darn close to the same info. and that’s that Obama grew up pretty much Like Everyone Else. I grew up in Kansas myself….. Thanks jl …. I did read that article. Clintons are “witnesses” on that case. Not even making the news here.
So, are Obama supporters just idiots, or are they really that unpatriotic?
no offense guys but the same people who elected bush are the people voting for hillary who later on are gonna vote for mcain and yes a good portion of them do it out of spite(a.k.a racism) little do these people realize barack is just as black as he is white, and the poor guy was first judged for not being black enough.

If you are not the Debbie who posted on here last week talking about how Obama grew up quite well off and I gave websites to go to to read about his mother, his upbringing, etc., I apologize, but in your post above, you did say he grew up quite well off.
To most people, ‘Well Off” means upper middle class, not middle class. His grandparents lived in a apartment. She was a Bank President, but he was a not very good Salesman who kind of gave up and finally retired, so it was basically the Grandmother who supported both of them.
does that surprize u????? not me and notice it says trial date to be set in paulvsclinton………obama 08
why are the Clinton people so hostile?
Thanks, Marcos
Joanna, I guess you would be all for a Jane Fonda, Michael Moore, ticket.

How old are you? To you what is Patriotic??
hey JEFFX………………….. thats probably the worst analysis i’ve seen to date obama supporters are the ones with college degrees and the ones that actually care enough about this country to try and CHANGE it for the better. unless of course you dont care that the dollar isnt worth squat in europe and the rest of the world no longer even thiks we are cool, and yes that is important to me.
Beverly, Houston…. That could be some of the confusion in America. I consider Anyone lower middle class and above, quite well off. Most of my family are not very well off and it never made any difference with neither a democrat nor republican president because a president only has “just so much” power. Looks like maybe people pick up on certain words based on “their own” experiences and why alot of Americans know a different president isn’t going to make much difference.
well this looks like fun
We pro Hillary are hard on OB from months and months of the endless attack of blogs that were alot more bitter and horid then we could ever allow ourselves to drop to.
debbie you bring up a good point. the president can only do so much all the american people need is a little help from their goverment and we can it take from there.now you do have people like bush, mcain, and even hillawitch that hinder us from our progress and thats why we are in this position beacause instead of helping us they are hindering us.
marcos, We are not cool anymore. What in the hell does being cool have to do with anything? What are you, a seventh grader. Other countries have always hated us and they always will. The only time we are ever considered COOL, is when we are giving away billions of dollars.
Collage kids are just that (kids). When you all grow up and experience what the older Americans have gone through, and know what real hard times are, than you can talk education.Get street learning, learn what it’s like to pay bills, and have families that depend on you. When you have pasted the real tests of life then your educated.Untill then vote Hillary are step aside
I find it funny that the guy who paid his way throug school via student loans is and gave up six figure salary to teach and serve as a community organizer in a community which was devasted by NAFTA is now an elitist. I believe the elist is the one who wants tax breaks for the companies taking our jobs over seas is the elitist: the one that still thinks by making rich people richer they will decide to give back to the “little people” or trickle down their wealth, fat chance.
Marcus…You are so right on! I can appreciate your comments.

Wasn’t it Obama who said he was disgusted by his white heritage? Further, isn’t he who identifies himself as an African American?

Where on Earth did you get the idea that he was disgusted with his white heritage??????
I could have sworn he said that in his book. Is that not correct? Maybe I should open it and review exactly what he wrote.
