McCain should concentrate towards the future; and what specific plans he has to improve the safety of New Orleans. The Local New Orleans Government, Louisiana Legislators, and the people of New Orleans bear the primary responsibility for Katrina. They have lived below water level for years foolishly tempting fate while letting earmarked funding which was supposed to have gone towards bolstered levies become skimmed for porkbelly projects.

Then when the local and state government along with the populace determined to ride out the storm of the century, they fall back to blaming the feds.

Grow up, stop collecting handouts, and begin to take responsibility for your own.

And by all means, when you live in a fish bowl, don’t become surprised when you get wet!

Ms Brown, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart on your actions to relieve the misery of the Katrina victims. It’s people like you that show that America is still a great nation. You helped our brothers and sisters that were in need. You helped fellow-Americans. I think alot of Americans donated money, alot gave until it hurt but alot of that pales in comparison to the people who gave of themselves and did the heavy lifting on the ground. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

john mccain is saying some very offensive things to most of us in the gop.everyone knows that the biggest part of the blame game in regards to katrina has to go to the inept and incompetent officials in new orleans and in baton rouge,and certainly not the federal government. senator mccain is also out of line in asking the noth carolina gop to pull an advertisement about barack obama which is perfectly legitimate because it is after all….TRUE AND FACT BASED! while he seems to think he is being all noble and nice and gentlemanly,the dems continue to sling mud and wag their evil little fingers at him…WAKE UP JOHN….and realize this…you are where you are strictly by default and by the help of some of your rino friends!

Also note the point he makes about Congress passing pork legislation instead of diverting money to Katrina relief. This is true and I have made this point a few times. In fact there were several attempts to divert funds in such a way that failed (and I might add it was mostly the Democrats who blocked them). The most glaring example was vote #S00164 that would have diverted funds from building a visitor’s center to ensuring the needs of Louisiana residents who lost their homes as a result of Hurricane Katrina and Rita were met. As with the others both Obama and Hillary voted against that one and then Obama especially has the gall to rail about how the government did nothing to help the suffering of Katrina victims. It’s amazing

Just to toss in a point, people made quite a fuss about how long it took FEMA to respond to Katrina but it took them just as long to respond with Andrew in southern Florida. It wasn’t a “screw Louisiana” thing, it’s just that it takes FEMA a while to get organized and that is something that certainly does need addressed. I interpret McCain’s comments as to say that the speed of the system needs to be improved.

Bush has bungled a lot of things, but why doesn’t McCain blast the local Democratic leadership for their bungling. I will vote for McCain, as I don’t want a Socialists as President, but he really tees me off. I hear some pandering going on. McCain get a grip, the blacks are voting for Obama.

Is there no room for Honesty in politics …. McCain didn’t get the name Maverick for no reason. You will Always know where he stands and what he believes, how he feels, and what he thinks. McCain calls it as he sees it and doesn’t just tell us (both Republicans and Democrats) what we Want to hear. It’s time we put someone in Washington to tell us the truth, kick butt, take names and straighten the mess out…should be able to do that in 4 years and we will be able to move forward instead of backwards in this country.
