Hillary’s “Invisible Touch”
The traveling press corps has heard the soundtracks that every campaign plays to keep their audiences entertained countless times. In fact, we often even hear them in our sleep. But because the old songs are so familiar, a new song on a candidate’s tends to jolt us out of our pre-event stupors — especially when the lyrics seem to hit just a little too close to home.
Consider a rally in West Chester, PA this morning in which the campaign team added a new tune to the familiar list — “Invisible Touch” by Phil Collins and Genesis.
While the chorus of Collins’ 80’s hit has a vaguely positive message about the woman he sings of (”She seems to have an invisible touch yea/she reaches in and grabs right hold of your heart”) the staffer in charge may have wanted to vet the rest of the lyrics a little more closely.
Some examples:
-”She has a built in ability/to take everything she sees”
-”seems to have an invisible touch yeah/It takes control and slowly tears you apart.”
-”Well I don’t really know her, I only know her name/But she crawls under your skin, you’re never quite the same, and now I know / She’s got something you just can’t trust”
-”She don’t like losing, to her it’s still a game/And though she will mess up your life,/You’ll want her just the same.”
UPDATE - in further campaign music news, the Clinton campaign played Bruce Springsteen’s “Promised Land” at her rally in York, PA today — the first Springsteen appearance since The Boss endorsed Barack Obama last week. The song had been a staple at campaign events since Ohio.
Check out the full lyrics after the jump.
INVISIBLE TOUCH
Well I’ve been waiting, waiting here so long
But thinking nothing, nothing could go wrong, ooh now I know
She has a built in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems I’m falling, falling for her.
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart.
Well I don’t really know her, I only know her name
But she crawls under your skin, you’re never quite the same, and now I know
She’s got something you just can’t trust
It’s something mysterious
And now it seems I’m falling, falling for her.
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart.
She don’t like losing, to her it’s still a game
And though she will mess up your life,
You’ll want her just the same, and now I know
She has a built in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems I’ve fallen, fallen for her.
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart.
She seems to have an invisible touch…

Jo, I have listened to that song…It made me as mad as yesterday’s flip of the finger. Obama is ghetto…the best way to descrbe him…at least that’s what my daughter-in-law calls him, sounded appropriate to me.
Here is Obama giving Clinton the finger in slow motion!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoOFp-RDpvM
LMAO. Well if there’s a song that sums up Hillary there it is. Classic.
BTW I always thought Obama’s campaign song should be “Free Ride”
The streets of Philadelphia are rising to the call. Hope can not be killed. They keep trying, but they can’t take it away from us. Hope was the saving grace given at the end of pandora’s box. After all the evils were unleashed on the world… humans were given the one tool that could save them. Hope.
Obama is sorry……but….he did not see the bird…..or even hear it………lmao
Again, the only time you hear of Obama’s theme song on the bus is when you see it on the blog spots. But Senator Clinton - OH NO< the biased media has got to make a big deal of it. I am so fed up with the media that I won’t hardly watch any of them anymore. I used to be a big MSNBC fan, but no more, I also liked CNN, but hardly ever watch them either. Why is it that they just CAN’t be fair with their coverage - could it be most of them are chauvinist PIGS and can’t stand the thought of a woman being more intelligent and stronger than they are.
Again, instead of defending Clinton, you have to draw Obama into it.
That is dirty politics. Can you EVER defend Clinton without comparing to Obama? Of course not… so looks like the democratic choice is between evil and more evil… depending on your point of view.
haaaaaaaaaaaa
Talk about frivolous.
Nobody I know cares one iota what song is playing on the bus or background. It’s a non issue.
For the media to bring it up, yet overlook the “classless clown”, Obama, giving Hillary the finger. UGH!
In your face blatant bias. That is all.
I guess the media may have finally run out of things to bash Hillary about. This is stretching it.
And Bruce Springtien is for the Big “O”,
with all the ticky tacky houses in a row?
Must be the “CODE PINK HOUSE!”
LOL ROF!
Whats in a Song? can you name that tune?
Ask a Far Left Loone, in ! (ONE ) Note!
So What, they don’t like Hillary?
Maybe she will Give Them The Third Digit Sign for the Dems the Barak’s/Hawaian?
Like the Pueblo Sailors did to North Korea? Right Barak atya Big “O” !!!!!!!!
Jo Anne writes…

No of course not, but it IS a bit funny that someone would play a song with the intent to promote Hillary that talks about what a b!tch the woman in the song is.
It reminds me of the old joke about Michael Jackson re-making Elton John’s song to say “Don’t Let Your Son Go Down On Me”.
I’m still angry at Obama flipping Hillary the finger. He paused long enough for his “not-so-subtle gesture to be noticed and reacted to.
That is so low class!
I don’t care whether he likes her or not. That woman is a former First Lady and a candidate for the highest office in this land.
Respect is a requirement! Those demeaning gestures are not only vulgar they are rude. Would he have done that to Rosalind Carter, or Nancy Reagan?
Obama is a cad!
scott919.
You are right. It is a bit funny.
I’d be rockin’ Elton’s the B***h is back!
Barack Obama:
The senator has confirmed that he plans to utilise hip-hop artists to educate American people, should he be elected as the Democrat candidate and then make it as President.
Speaking on US TV show ‘What’s In It For Us’ he explained: “I’ve met with Jay-Z. I’ve met with Kanye (West). And I’ve talked to other artists about how potentially to bridge that gap.”
He added: “There are times, even on the artists I’ve named, the artists that I love, that there is a message that’s sometimes degrading to women, and uses the N-word a little too frequently.”

Obama giving the finger is juvenile.
He is mad because he got beat up. A normal reaction of an immature person.

Hillary 08!!
Politicians seem to do a great job at breaking down an entire speech, to find one word to exploit, but they are to stupid to have someone proof read their theme songs. Some would argue that nobody listens to the songs anyway, but apparently someone listened to this one.
JoAnne,
Did you see Shepherd Smith yesterday?..he reported that 30 women in Kenya wanted to give the New Prime Minister a petiton…but because they didn’t have a permit to protest they chased them away with tear gas…I saw the woman they did not pose any kind of threat and weren’t in anyway disorderdly…there was no coverage as to what they where protesting against.
Well, if this doesn’t bring a smile…check your pulse. Yesterday in North Carolina:
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton set the tone for her campaign event in Winston-Salem by announcing that she and poet Maya Angelou would be having a “conversation.”
“If you came for a political speech, I hope you aren’t disappointed,” Clinton said.
I can’t imagine that anyone was disappointed. Honesty, could there be a more eloquent spokesperson on Hillary’s behalf than Maya Angelou?
“I said 20 years ago, ‘If this woman ever runs for anything, I’ll put my hand behind her back,’” Angelou said Friday…
“I watched her show what it was like to be a woman in stress, in difficulty. I watched her as she was on the front pages of every journal. And I watched her stand,” Angelou said.
The full story, as well as video of the entire event, can be found at WRAL.com. Its well worth watching.
“I know that Sen. Clinton is a long-distance runner and however the odds may go and the polls may show, from day to night to tomorrow morning, I know she is in it for the long run,” Angelou said. “I am with her for the long run.”
Angelou ended the visit with some words of encouragement for her friend.
“If you help her rise, we will all rise together,” she said.
Two former New Jersey governors, Jim Florio and Brendan Byrne, endorsed Mrs. Clinton last year, but they were only selected to be their state’s add-on delegates Thursday….
Representative Betty Sutton of Ohio also came out in support of Mrs. Clinton. The district she represents is in northeastern Ohio.
“I have had the opportunity to engage in significant discussions with Senator Clinton about the concerns and hopes of the people I am so honored to represent,” Ms. Sutton said in a news release. “She has demonstrated a keen understanding of the pressing issues, such as the need to create economic opportunity for working families right here in Northeast Ohio.”
RC MO…the young people listened to the words of 99 Reasons…it was all over U-Tube…reports were the young people who knew the song were singing it gleefully .
For his part, Obama gained the backing of a disgruntled Clinton administration employee. But wait a minute…hasn’t Robert Reich been a vocal supporter of Obama for months?
“Bill Clinton’s ill-tempered and ill-founded attacks on Barack Obama are doing no credit to the former president, his legacy, or his wife’s campaign,” he wrote in January. “Nor are they helping the Democratic Party.”
Asked to respond to Reich’s endorsement, Clinton spokesman Mo Eleithee said, “Didn’t he endorse him last year?”
Just a rumor, but I hear Michelle is set to endorse her husband a few days before the North Carolina primary.
I can’t believe how tacky Obama was in giving the finger! Wow I wonder what other countries are thinking as they watch this man get away with anything he wants! You can bet if Hillary flipped him off, you’d have the media trying a steak through her heart! I’m sick of the free pass he gets.
HuffPo Catches Hillary Dissing MoveOn
From the gigantic red letters and extremely unflattering photo of Hillary on the front page of Huffington Post today, you might have thought a security camera had caught her raiding the First National Bank of Scranton. But no. Turns out that a couple of months ago, she said a few things about certain liberal activists, particularly MoveOn, that were not entirely nice. Particularly about some tactics involved during the caucus contests.
Yep, thats all it is. On the audio, her voice is calm and her thoughts are quite reasonable. What a big load of nothing. And besides, as MoveOn does not exactly have a great reputation among the public at large, a Hillary vs MoveOn storyline might not be that bad. Personally, I think HuffPo might be in a bit of a panic that Hillary could win decisively in PA.

Obama’s secret weapon: the media

She Didn’t Ask The Questions & He Couldn’t Answer Them
My God, we’re really digging for anything to yell about now aren’t we? Come on folks, it’s been a tough race, but Hillary simply didn’t run a good campaign. She overlooked the small states, caucus states, the left of the party, and the young vote. When she realized this was a mistake. It doesn’t make her evil, just a weaker campaigner than Barack. Either is better than McCain. So quit trying to change the rules and moving the goal posts. Hillary is going to loose by the rules SHE agreed to play by.

(April 19, 2008) New Zogby Poll for PA (Zogby) - There is some very good news in this poll for Hillary
——————————————————————————–
I found this poll very interesting - not so much for the spread between Hillary and Obama, but in the data that the poll reveals. Take these excerpts for example:
Quote:
This is the first of the tracking polls to be conducted entirely after the fiery Clinton-Obama debate Wednesday night.
Quote:
Pollster John Zogby: “Undecideds are down to 8% and they have slowly begun to break for Clinton. Obama slipped in the one-day sample to only 40%. His lead in the eastern part of the state is still in double-digits but slipping, and his huge advantage among young voters is narrowing a bit. Clinton has a 39-point lead among Catholics and a 19 point lead among whites. She continues to get higher marks on ‘understanding Pennsylvania’ and handling the economy.”
Quote:
This latest Newsmax/Zogby two-day tracking poll shows Clinton had a good day in central Pennsylvania, where she has moved ahead of Obama by 20 points, a significant improvement over earlier polling. In western Pennsylvania, she continues to enjoy a solid lead . . ..

It’s rather amusing watching the liberal media launch a full-scale attack on George Stephanopoulos and Charles Gibson, with General Tom Shales of the Washington Post leading the charge. ABC’s Stephanopoulos and Gibson had the audacity to ask Obama some tough questions during the Democratic debate Tuesday night. Challenge Obama with well-informed questions on tax policy and politics? Wound the media favorite? How dare they?

Did you see how the media at MSNBC showed the clip of Obama flipping the finger? They played it up to the point he was getting ready to flip off his female opponent and then they cut that part out and added it back in at a different place to where he was winding down his Whining and only showed the “Flip Off Seen AROUND THE WORLD to one of America’s First Ladies” for a “split” second so that no one could really tell he was doing it Purposely.
Jessica,
I live in Hungary. I think Obama is one of the most disgusting policitian I’ve ever seen. He is dangeouros for the word. So, the word laugh at America again. I don’t support the Republicans, but McCain is a good guy. He is not Bush. I like Huckabee too, he has a wonderful humor. But personally I think the USA need Hillary. She will be a wonderful President. If McCain will be a President that is good for me too. Anybody but Obama. I really don’t understand why the American people want a rock star in the WH. So please USA don’t be stupid again!!!
People,
It’s ashame that you all are so anti-Obama that you would be so gullible to believe that he would give the middle finger to a former first lady in front of hundreds of cameras!! I can’t believe it!! I was actually at that town hall forum and no one saw anything of the sort. HE WAS SCRATCHING HIS FACE!! Do you honestly believe that he is dumb enough to think that he could flip off the former first lady intentionally and no one would notice (when there were literally hundreds of cameras there)? This is exactly why we will always be in the same position as we are today, because people like you want to focus on foolishness instead of relevant issues. People are losing houses, have no health insurance, are unemployed or can’t afford to drive to work because of gas prices. This report and your comments confirm why Obama has such a strong following of educated people. Educated people would not be sidetracked by a report that is so ridiculous that it defies logic. We recognize foolishness when we see it. It’s unfortunate that the rest of you are willing to wallow in misery and be suckered in by stupidity solely because you are too afraid of anything or anyone that promotes change in the status quo.

Goodby, farewell my friend, no more sailing
So long sailing, no more sailing
no more, farewell…

Sonia, do you really honestly believe she can still win?
I mean its pretty obvious with numbers in the polls and going negative doesnt help her on bit. She played all her cards in the campaign and lost, so you are not the best qualified nominee simple as that. rationale and excuses of popular vote, caucases, larger states doesnt change reality, other candidate better organised, more money, and seems to handle controversy very well. Only on stage she said she was sorry of sniper incident, after knowlingly broadcasting her reality a number of times. Thats not the only incident, in which voters doubt her honesty and sincerity, its a pattern. If you cant believe what someone says what happened how can yu believe someone’s prroposals on issues. Think by next week she is back in the kitchen baking cookies.

Obama video:
She made a cardinal mistake on pledge or commitment not the raise taxes under a certain threshold. How stupid can you be? Bush Sr did that, everytime they ask that question, so you should something more diplomatic, like; No, not intend to, since my policies are going to lift the economy Bla. bla, bla so not need for that.
YES! We can change the miserable state of politics and the miserable state of our country and the world. Mr. Obama is a one in a life time present to Americans and to the world. If we don’t recognize it, we deserve what comes to us if he’s not elected. And a message to Mrs. Clinton, who’s complaining about Mr. Obama’s toughness: To be tough does not mean to be an abusive liar that attacks a fellow candidate and deceives the voters. Being tough is having the willpower to remain within one’s objective and at the same time preseve one’s self-respect and respect to others, in spite of all the attacks.

There aren’t enough groups to have OB win the election.
I don’t care which one gets the nom. I’m just a happy old white lady for McCain.
But it is fun watching the sad, disgrunteled, down in the mouth, mean dems fighting with each other.
The CNN blog postings are hilarious.
CNN and the other left stream media are trying to keep the fighting going. They will look like fools for all their fawning over OB before he was vetted. Even Hardball has toned it down a bit.
Obama has the maturity of a 10 year old. They should change the voting age to at least 30.
I bet he’s glad to see Hamas endorsement.
Saturday began with Sen. Obama going door-to-door in the Mayfair neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. “This reminds me of my days campaigning to be a state Senator,” Obama told Rep. Patrick Murphy as they encountered nearly a third of the homes with no one answering. “Only there was no media and there were more slammed doors.”

Or they ran and got their bible citing verses and praying in tongues till he went away–lol
Just politics playing out, and Dem mostly in headlines. Probably almost end of line in Dem race.
Good match-up McCain-Obama, will be interesting. Old politics and against change. Controversy he handled well. and momentum hasn’t changed much. Mccain has not really been questioned on his stands and policies. Flip-flops on taxes, secrecy on tax-return wife, veterans legislation record raises questions, and War in Iraq (report yesterday from Pentagon resech group that failure and better out)
By the way its not a Hamas endorsement. they said he will be probable a better Pres. Even Israel through Carter is talking with them for a prisoner exchange.(Jerusalem Post)

Despite impressive progress in security, the outcome of the war is in doubt,” said the report. “Strong majorities of both Iraqis and Americans favor some sort of U.S. withdrawal. My husband just told me…. what he thinks our nation needs is “MOTHERING”. When I heard it, it rang true in my ears. He is a construction worker and a man’s man in every sense of the word. Lets see what a woman can do as president of the united states….not just and woman but HILLARY CLINTON!
thank you

Why does everyone want to have a winner BEFORE the convention. That’s what the convention is for, to choose a nominee. This is ludicrious. AND by the way, we still have people who haven’t voted. Are they to be forgotten????? I think it is a tragedy that the DNC doesn’t care about ALL the people, just interested in pleasing the media. I am so sick of the media, I won’t watch anything but local news anymore. I’ve always been a great sports and news buff, but now I’ll stick with sports. The media tries to manipulate every poll and even the election. They should not be allowed to show a favorite, and every candidate should get EQUAL positive/negative time on their networks. Apparently this is what our country has turned into and it’
