PELOSI, DEAN, REID, KENNEDY AND KERRY HAVE DESTROYED THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. WE HAVE 50 STATES — NOT 48. I REALIZE PELOSI WANTS TO BE THE FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT BUT SHE SHOULD NOT DESTROY THE PARTY IN THE PROCESS!

Obama has had plenty of opportunities, during this race, AND during the past 20 years, to do what he did on April 29, but Rev. Wright had never put Obama down before. That made him willing to turn against the pastor, who — a few weeks ago Obama said that he could never turn from. Obama will say anything to get what he wants.

Because he has now disrespected Obama, Obama is now willing to confront Wright’s horrible remarks — one by one. HE SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS AT LEAST A YEAR AGO! TOO LITTLE — TOO LATE.

Obama listened to and approved of Wright for 20 years. It’s impossible to believe that he never heard Wright’s radical rants. Obama is not that stupid. This is the very philosophy of the church that he has attended for years. If he has that much “blindness” on something as important as foundational philosophical beliefs of his own church, why would he think he could deal with crafty foreign leaders and run our country?

If you listen to Michelle Obama, it certainly sounds like she has heard and believed the teachings against America, that have been preached by her pastor. Don’t forget Obama’s ties to Ayers, Rezko, Farrakhan, Malcolm X, the Black Panthers, and many other anti-Americans and terrorists.

May God help us to have the grace and love to do what s right for our country — no matter what our skin color. Race is a factor — we are all members of the Human Race!

Hillary or McCain!

nice to see he's sticking to his "new kind" of politics with no negativity. He's just another politician just like the good Reverand Wright said.

There is a difference between a second place candidate, making - with her spouse - about $1000.00 a day, who is bitter (Caustic, vindictive) and blue collar workers, perhaps in PA, who are bitter (dissatisfied, dissolution) by their present situation - struggling to get by on little or nothing as the leading candidate rightfully stated.

The elitist candidate is the candidate who, in her opionion, believes the un-elitist blue collar workers in America is not intelligent enough to know the difference.

How about the young guy who volunteered to go on the totally justifiable mission to Afghanistan, was instead sent to Iraq when your cowboys decided on their adventure, and was paralysed for life on his first day in the field? I agree that the troops are idealised and given a nobility many if not most of them don't really warrant, but they are still young people in the prime of life - it's pretty tragic to see so much blood shed for a mad-headed cause that was doomed from the start.

Everybody who knew anything about Iraq knew that there were three groups of people who hated each other, that one of those groups had had all the privileges for many years, and that as soon as they were able they would be at each other's throats. The only possible outcomes are, and always were, either a partitioned country or a huge free bonus for the nutcase ayatollahs next door.

As far as the veterans' care is concerned, it's not a matter of the government being unable to sort it out, it's the fact that the current bunch just don't care enough to come up with the dough. They had to be shamed into doing anything about the Walter Reed disgrace. Out of sight, out of mind, that's the Bushies' philosophy.

McKeebop,

Your two part post by Edwards brings up two pointsd I'll make: First, I'm tired of the media hunting up some frustrated parent of a serviceman/women killed or injured in action. While I feel for their loss, I have to ask myself, didn't these people realize that this soldier volunteered to be in the armed forces? Some may of done it for patriotic reasons, some for the aid in education funds or other benefits, some for some type of strange idea of adventure, some because they thought the uniforms looked cool. But in every case they VOLUNTEERED to defend this country, to go to war. What did the parents think, this was summer camp?

As to the second part...What an OUTSTANDING point to PROVE that government should NEVER be in charge of ANY Health Care system. If they can't run the VA right, what would they do with over 200 million more people to deal with?

Hey you pa-tri-ots, you great A-mer-i-cans that just love sending other people's kids to be blown to bits for a bunch of b*llsh*t peddled to you by the biggest, bravest bunch of chickenhawks in history - take a few moments to digest the full scale of what your forces are suffering for your stupidity. I'd mention that you could multiply the total by 20 or 30 if you included the Iraqis that have been caught up in your mess, but of course they don't count - just a bunch of dune coons after all

John Edwards Letter to the editor - The New York Times

In “For Wounded Veterans and Their Families, a Journey Without Maps” (Editorial Observer, March 24), Lawrence Downes missed an important opportunity to explain why both the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs are unprepared to care for the service members who have been hurt in the Iraq war.

The reason is that the frequently reported number of the wounded in action (29,320 as of March 1) does not include everyone who’s been hurt.

The complete number of nonfatal casualties in Iraq is 60,645. Most assume the wounded number includes all, but it does not. It leaves out another 8,273 injured and 23,052 who became ill and required medical air transport from the war zone. The Department of Defense releases two reports: one with the weekly numbers of those wounded and killed, and then another monthly report with the complete numbers. After five years, it is time for respected news organizations to use the complete number.

The public needs this information so that we can better prepare for the care of all of our veterans from this war and others. The struggle for them and their families your article addressed is happening all across this country. Nearly 300,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have already sought care from the V.A.

The system is broken. That is why so many veterans are still fighting for the care they earned. That is why their families struggle with paperwork and months of delay. And that is why 154,000 veterans sleep on grates or under bridges every night.

We have tens of thousands set to come home, and we aren’t prepared. Every day we should honor the more than 4,000 lives lost: every suicide, bullet or serious accident.

And every day we should honor those who have been hurt. That number is 60,645 and rising.

Again does anyone who post in here do anything but watch news reports. I don’t care where Rev Wright lives now, he’s help thousands of under privledged kids. He has dozens of charities for inner city schools. His comments were waaaay out there but you can’t question his work in urban areas and its moronic and ill informed to do so.

But I also have another question, I’m an Obama supporter. I’m from Chicago so I started off really an Obama supporter but my vote isn’t set in stone. Can someone tell me what he’s ever done to make you people think he’s a liar or arrogant or hates white people. Obama is half white. His mom is white, Rev Wright made some crazy comments but thats not Obama just like Hagge (and his anti Israel and America rants) isn’t McCain. There’s no evidence that anyone in the crowd was a plant. In fact more than likely they weren’t. She was talking to labor leaders who realize in 12 months its important to have someone with an economic plan in the white house and that silly little comments like this have NO impact on anyone’s lives. They came to hear here talk about policy and she tried to score cheep political points and they called her on it. But back to my question, does anyone have any facts or evidence that Obama is a liar, arrogant or hates white people or are people here just spewing nonsense?

M. Period,

In the first part of your post, you noted the wonderful work done by Rev. Wright. You also noted that you're from Chicago. Perhaps you should learn a bit of history of Chicago. See in the 1920s America came under the stupid idea of Prohibition. It created another stream of revenue for the mafia in bootlegging. The fight over these profits, much like the drug dealers/gangs of today, was a bloody one over turf. The most famous US city for this was Chicago. The most famous and perhaps bloodiest mobster was Al Caone. His "hits" and his "extortion" not only killed and injured other mobsters, but innocent people as well. Al Capone tried to become a "Robin Hood" by creating soup kitchens and other charites with his ill-gotten gain.
So using YOUR logic, Al Capone was really a misunderstood guy, after all look at his charitable work.

Elitism has nothing to do with how poor you were when you were born. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how much money you have.

Elitism is defined as:
A select group of people with outstanding personal abilities, intellect, wealth, specialized training or experience, or other distinctive attributes.

The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
a. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.
b. Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.
