Records show Obama has gotten $243,000 from employees of Sidley Austin. Its lobbying clients include Bayer, General Electric, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association.

Obama has gotten $202,000 from employees of Skadden ARPS, the firm that lobbies for U.S. Steel and Verizon. He’s gotten $87,000 from employees at Alston and Bird, the lobbying firm for Mylan Labs and AT&T.

And he’s gotten $76,000 from employees of Greenberg Traurig, lobbyist for carmaker General Motors, gun maker Smith and Wesson and former employer of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who was convicted of trying to bribe federal officials.

Obama’s contribution records also show thousands coming from registered lobbyists, but they are lobbyists who work in state capitols and not Washington, D.C.

One of them is Harrisburg lobbyist Fred Clark, whose clients include student loan agency PHEAA, as well as Comcast and casino owner Mountaineer Gaming.

Obama has hired several lobbyists to work on his campaign. The campaign said all of them stopped lobbying after they went to work for Obama. And he has taken lots of campaign contributions from CEOs and others connected to companies that do lots of lobbying.

Unlike Obama, his rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from registered lobbyists. She has defended lobbyists, saying they play a part in the political process.

Great post, it’s been argued that Obama doesn’t have direct lobbyist funds in his campaign because when he started it, none of them thought he had a chance.

He certainly appears to be playing the same game he says he’s not though..just through a lot of middle men instead.

It was a time when U.S. Corporations employed U.S. workers and were loyal to America its people and ideals. It was a time when GE Appliance Park, Kentucky, a manufacturing city, housed 25,000 blue collar American workers, who enjoyed a middle class life style.

Obama, not everyone can be a college graduate. Surely you understand that a nation also needs a strong back and the ability to manufacture what is needed is a nation’s backbone.

Sovereignty/nationhood/borders mean Government and publically chartered corporations should work for the best interest and betterment of citizens within. Instead Free Trade, One World Ideals and International Corporations have allowed entire American industries to be destroyed by subsidized foreign competitors. “American” companies have built their manufacturing facilities overseas to take advantage of cheaper labor and now are off shoring the lower paying customer service and service economy jobs.

Bottom line Obama: What has been off shored is America’s wealth, ideals, lifestyle, hopes and dreams. In my lifetime “leaders” like you who mock the “old ways” have made America the world’s biggest debtor nation. A nation that begged allies for war plane parts during the first Gulf War because they are no longer manufactured in the US but sends troops overseas to protect corporations that fail to repatriate international profits in order to avoid paying American taxes and exhibit no loyalty to American families or soldiers.

Soon the world will cease to accept constantly devaluing US fiat dollars as the international currency for oil trade and America will be left utterly bankrupt. You and the other leaders who followed the “new wisdom” will be brought down to those you have already destroyed. Perhaps then you can rediscover a lost faith and an appreciation for the 2nd Amendment.

So, how is it being far from the truth by what he said? Yes, he could have said all that he said in a better, more “cleaned up” way but why has it come to be that everything has to be said in a “sugarcoated” way? I give him way more credit for being bluntly honest about things compared to the other two. Obama can not unite this country, too much has happened.

He obviously is a good speaker if someone provides the written word, but AHHHH when it is open mike, he has trouble and he evidently tends to stick his foot in his mouth, this was not the first time and I don’t think it will be the last.

Hillary has made mistakes and so has Bill but I do feel they have a more American viewpoint and seem to respect all races. I wish Hillary would ask John Edwards to be her running mate…then the democrats could truely have a good ticket.

I am not against an African American in office and was actually fooled by Obama when he came to SC; but I won’t be fooled anymore. When I lived in Virginia, I helped the first black Mayor in Virginia get elected, I voted for Wilder who was the first African American governor of Virginia. It is not about being African American, it is about being an American who can unite our country, an American who has some plans of his/her own to progress our country forward out of this mess that George Bush put us in.

I respect John McCain as a human being, I just can not honestly go along with his views on the war, the economy, abortion, stem cell research etc…America needs to move forward into its former economic status, it needs to more forward toward earning respect again from foreign nations, it needs to move forward into medical research to end AIDS, CANCER, MS, MD, ALZHEIMERS, PARKINSONS DISEASE and the list could continue. We need to give to this country to make it strong again, we need to educate and feed the children of the US before sending money overseas.
We can not longer protect other nations until we are again strong. We have incurred injuries to our nation and right now the bandaides are not holding, we are about to go into cardiac arrest and if something isn’t done our proud nation could die and may not be able to be revived to the Nation we
love, the United States of America that most Americans are proud of.
