Clinton steps up assault on Obama remarks

Indianapolis, IN - Sen. Clinton stepped her attacks on Obama Saturday seizing on his remarks about small town American resentment as “demeaning” and “elitist,” during a speech at a manufacturing plant in the Hoosier state.

“I was taken aback by the demeaning remarks Senator Obama made about people in small town America. Senator Obama’s remarks are elitist and they are out of touch. They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans. Certainly not the Americans that I know - not the Americans I grew up with, not the Americans I lived with in Arkansas or represent in New York,” she told a group of factory workers at a transmission plant in the key May 6 primary state.

She relentlessly attacked Obama’s original remarks point by point today for nearly five minutes (VIDEO above), as the NY Senator seeks to reinforce the argument that her Democratic rival is out of touch with average Americans.

“You know, Americans who believe in the Second Amendment believe it’s a matter of Constitutional rights. Americans who believe in God believe it is a matter of personal faith. Americans who believe in protecting good American jobs believe it is a matter of the American Dream,” Clinton said. “The people of faith I know don’t “cling to” religion because they’re bitter. People embrace faith not because they are materially poor, but because they are spiritually rich…people of all walks of life hunt, and they enjoy doing so because it’s an important part of their life, not because they are bitter.”

The Clinton campaign sees the Obama statement as a major gaffe which they will seize on in the runup to the PA, NC and IN primaries as they attempt to strike at the heart of Obama’s message of unity.

“If we are striving to bring people together - and I believe we should be - I don’t think it helps to divide our country into one America that is enlightened and one that is not,” she said. “People don’t need a president who looks down on them; they need a president who stands up for them. And that is exactly what I will do as your president. Because I believe if you want to be the president of all Americans, you need to respect all Americans. And that starts with respecting our hard working Americans”

I WANT TO FIX HILLARY CLINTON FOR STAYING WITH BILL WHEN SHE SHOULD HAVE DIVORCED HIM OVER:
1. HIS ANTIMASTURBATION
2. HIS CHEATING ADULTERY
ALSO IM AGAINST HER NOT LISTENING TO ME ABOUT VOTING AGAINST THE ANTI POKER BILL (PHONE CALLS, LETTERS) AND RECEIVING FUNDING FROM HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY OVERCHARGING AND AGE DISCRIMINATING. I ALSO BELIEVE LIKE JOE LIEBERMAN THAT BILL CLINTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED AFTER ILLEGALLY CHEATING ON HIS WIFE.

CNN and MSNBC —- BREAKING NEWS ALERT

On Monday, at 10am, Barach Obama will deliver another unprecedented historic speech on the social and political complexity of rural America. According to David Axelrod, Obama has agreed to do this after the fallout from his remarks in San Francisco that were misconstrued and taken out of context by millions of poorly educated blue collar voters throughout America who support HIllary Clinton. Similar to his “Gettysburg Address” on race, where Obama carefully construed the topic to make it America’s problem and not a problem about his pastor, Obama is not expected to explain his remarks; rather, he will reframe his words in such a way that white middle class America will be overwhelmed by guilt for ever having challenged a multi-racial candidate. They will realise that their ignorance has blinded them from seeing rural America as it SHOULD BE SEEN by East Coast liberal academics. The speech is designed to reveal the racist impulse behind the angry reaction of God-fearing, gun-carrying, lunch-bucket voters. Many are still not comfortable being corrected by a brilliant African-American.

On hand to control spin, applaud, and blame this entirely on the Clinton family will be Wolf Blitzer, J Cafferty, Chris Matthews and Maureen Dowd.

GO HILLARY !!!
Obama is ARROGANT - so is his wife & campaign.
He cannot seem to answer a direct question without a prepared speech nicely delivered on the teleprompter. - his entire campaign seems so “staged” - all for show. Now we see!
IF Clinton or McCain dared to make comments about poor blacks in high crime areas, with guns, on welfare, etc…… - the media would throw them out. BUT - if anyone dares to even ask a question to Obama - they are racist.

Clinton in Indianapolis:

Now, like some of you may have been, I was taken aback by the demeaning remarks Sen. Obama made about people in small town America. Sen. Obama’s remarks are elitist, and they are out of touch. They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans. Certainly not the Americans that I know — not the Americans I grew up with, not the Americans I lived with in Arkansas or represent in New York.

You know, Americans who believe in the Second Amendment believe it¹s a matter of Constitutional rights. Americans who believe in God believe it is a matter of personal faith. Americans who believe in protecting good American jobs believe it is a matter of the American Dream.

When my dad grew up it was in a working class family in Scranton. I grew up in a churchgoing family, a family that believed in the importance of living out and expressing our faith.

The people of faith I know don’t “cling to” religion because they’re bitter

People embrace faith not because they are materially poor, but because they are spiritually rich. Our faith is the faith of our parents and our grandparents. It is a fundamental expression of who we are and what we believe.

I also disagree with Sen. Obama’s assertion that people in this country “cling to guns” and have certain attitudes about immigration or trade simply out of frustration. People of all walks of life hunt — and they enjoy doing so because it’s an important part of their life, not because they are bitter.

And as I¹ve traveled across Indiana and I¹ve talked to a lot of people what I hear are real concerns about unfair trade practices that cost people jobs.

….
Americans out across our country have born the brunt of the Bush administration¹s assault on the middle class. Contrary to what Sen. Obama says, most Americans did much better during the Clinton years than they have done during the Bush years.

If we are striving to bring people together — and I believe we should be — I don’t think it helps to divide our country into one America that is enlightened and one that is not.

This is offensive on a few levels. First to point to small towns in the Midwest as feeling this way shows that Obama just does not get America. He has accused people of faith as clinging to it because times are hard, as if to say if the economy was good small town PA and America do not need religion. That our religious beliefs are for show. That we some how equate guns rights to a declining economy? In good times we would not “cling” to guns and the 2nd amendment? It just is so off base. Lets look to the other part of this statement that we appose free trade because of the job loss. Wake up those who hate NAFTA and other free trade laws do so because Sen. Obama and the rest of Washington refuse to enforce them. To the Anti illegal immigration I wish he would look closer at why people are upset. It is the cost that we have to deal with in our schools, health care systems, courts to list a few combined with the attitude that we as citizens obey the laws but if you come into this country illegally and break our laws its OK.
Another level that gets me is he is allowed to play the race card. We in small town USA when the economy is bad hate anyone different. He points to Latinos in anti illegal immigration and because he is behind in these areas to him. Its as if we can not find fault with his record or policies just with him and the color of his skin. He is behind so that means that its because we are mad and he is black therefore different. What a crock. It is just another way to divide us and explain his failings. Its not his fault he is just the victim of small minded prejudicial views in Small town USA.
In the end he will spend time crafting a great speach. This speach will cover up his feelings and will be politically correct. People in politics and the media will fawn all over it, just like his speech explaining Rev. Wright. Which since he gave it we have found out that Rev. Wright was not just prejudiced against whites but Jews and Italians too. I’m not sure if it is Italians or Catholics as a whole that they hate yet. Either way it is unfair to judge a whole people like that. Is this the type of thinking the MLK gave his life for, to change racial bigotry and let people be judged by their character not race or religion?I do know that the man he could not turn his back on like his “white” grandmother did so in the end. As more got out about trinity and the public saw it for what it was he felt the pressure. When he appeared on The View he told everyone that if Rev. Wright had not retired he would have left the church. Different message now. Funny thing is the new Rev. Moss was hand picked by Rev. Wright and was in training for 2 years. This way he could pick up where Wright left off. The only change is in the name. Face it he is nothing like the man he claims to be. If this is the sound and good judgement he claims he has and has said is his qualification to be commander-in-chief he is not qualified. He has failed both the American people and himself.

I am seeing a disturbing trend from Obama. His wife said she has never been proud of America. She also said America is mean. He says Americans are bitter and that is why they cling to religion, guns, hate others, etc…. His 20 year pastor and spiritual adviser denounces america by saying “God Da** America vs God Bless America. Its disturbing and the Republicans are going to jump all over this theme. They already are painting this picture of him on Foxnews.

I don’t think we need Obama lecturing the rest of us about our religion. He has certainly shown himself to be the biggest bigot around where religion is concerned.

He wasn’t trying to explain why small town people are bitter, he was explaining that the reason these people aren’t voting for him is because they are bitter, back woods, gun totin, religious fanatics who are bigots, and that that’s why there weren’t voting for him.

The good thing about long campaigns, is you get to really see who people are when you get past their BS.

This was originally posted by one of his supporters who has maxed out her contributions, and follows him around blogging about his campaign. The statement bothered her enough that after a few days of thinking on it she decided she had to blog about it.

I think the most telling part of this story is in fact WHERE it took place. We all know Obama has trouble connecting with us “typical” folks, and he detests the average American and hates the fact that he has to “stoop to our level” to gain our vote. We knew that.

What I dislike about this story is that this man is talking in a closed session to his “elitiist” buddies who are funding his campaign about us common folk who are struggling in the midwest.

He says one thing to us blue collar americans “yeah I dont support special interest, and dont take funding from them either”

He says another to these elitest pr1cks….I almost feel he is laughing at us for our problems

Elitists are U-N-E-L-E-C-T-A-B-L-E

The fact of the matter is Obama is too intelligent for many people. These are some of the same people who want to be told that all is FINE, when they have lost jobs and have nothing much apart from their faith and guns to fall back on. People like to be told they are great when in reality, everyone is ordinary like each one of us.

Who knows Obama may end up losing, but Hillary Clinton and McCain both appeal to the lowest and the baset of human emotions. They are the ~REAL~ snake oil sales men, who want to convey to their dutiful flock that all is hunky and dory in the world unlike what Obama says. So voters go to sleep Mamma and Pappa will take care and dont listen to nasty things that Obama says.

Comment by jackson

I think it is time we stop wearing our emotions on our sleeves and cease the knee-jerk reactions and have a thoughtful political dialog.

Heavily industrial states such as Pennsylvania have suffered from initiatives such as NAFTA that have sent local jobs overseas. The state has seen its economy stagnate some and it is understandable if some of the hard working people in Pennsylvania feel a little resentful towards a Federal government that they feel has let them down.

Is it possible that Hillary only sees happy people wherever she goes in PA? Well, after her Bosnia trip recollections who knows how she sees things, but I am guessing there is a mix of cynicism and optimism towards candidates who fly into PA and talk about things such as hope and change. It is ok to be bitter about the government allowing so much of the economy to leave the state. It is ok to be dubious of politicians running for office. However, it is not ok to ignore the real state of things and pretend that people are not upset and disappointed in a transparent attempt to pander to the local constituency.

Shouldn’t we start having an honest discussion right now - or are the Clinton’s not into that kind of thing?

All the well worn politics the old of talking only good things, hiding dark things under the carpet, hiding warts is going away. The politics of past was all about offering Serotonin boosting artificial talk, posing for the camera with an artificial smile, and drilling down to the dumb voters that they are happy when they are not.

And then we get Obama. Like a thunderbolt he is waking us up from the Orwellian nightmare that we have come to be.

An Orwellian nightmare where we voted for a war, believing in flimsy evidences, believing we will be safe from terrorists.

An Orwellian nightmare where tax cuts to the rich are supposed to help out the poor.

An Orwellian nightmare where where a 100 year occupation of a foreign land where people dont want us to be there is supposed to be good for us.

An Orwellian nightmare where people voting for war were supposed to mean that they were against it.

“We are the change we are waiting for” - Barack Obama

Cathy I have soooooooooo much more that I have found out it makes this look like child’s play. Did you know he had taken money from a lobbyist that represented the people in the Nuclear power company his bill was about. He tried to write this bill because of unreported spills that happened. Each time he took the money the bill was changed. It was so weak by the end that it died. He voted for big oil in the 2005 energy bill, just like a Republican would. Who voted against it Sen. Clinton did.
Did you know that before he voted present he had a little trouble pushing the right button. Six times after fellow Democrats and in one case The Chicago Sun Times pointed out he voted opposite what he claimed to support. He said the he missed up the buttons. I guess it must be hard the buttons stay in the same place and are color coded too. Need more there is plenty out there if you do your homework and look.

Hillary can not comment fairly on Obama’s comment. Hillary, herself spoke very poorly of Mississippi and lost. Her comments were not played over and over on FoxNews. FoxNews is very racist against a black man running for president. This is very sad and I have decided with other friends not to waste anymore time watching this racist TV station. Majority of you on FoxNews are racist bigots. It is very obvious and get use to it blacks deserve a chance in the White House as anyone else. Also, Obama is true in his statements about rural America and the working poor. My research has been exactly what he stated. They are bitter and a majority of them run to churches, which is not a bad idea. They go there for help from ministers/pastors etc. looking for a miracle, as I said there is nothing wrong with that. But know God in your good times and bad times. The others do turn to guns, violence, stealing and rage, because they cannot have the material items of the the world. Obama is exactly right in his statement. I have notice that FoxNews, always take a statement Obama makes and feed on it and nix-pix it to death. You are still on Rev. Wright mess, who really cares besides FoxNews. I have strongly encouraged people I know not to watch this ignorant news channel.

Clinton definitely has her own issues but being a racist, arrogant and condescending is not one of them. We are now finding out about Obama. What he is and who he is. He does not want to unite this country. He needs the separation to win. It was Obama’s camp that started the racist card. They took any remark the questioned Obama and said if you are not for Obama then you must be a racist. We now see the true Obama and I am very afraid of the change he is talking about. The Clintons sent this info to all of the media stations and the media went with it. Whoever said that the media doesn’t favor the Clintons?

Obama is not saying anything he hasn’t said before - he is just saying it in a different way. He is still saying that the blue collar workers need to get good jobs, that they need to be heard, that big government hasn’t helped enough and needs to be redrafted. That there are those who are upset about outsourcing and illegal immigration-the people who get their jobs.

He referred to guns and religion. People will find ways to find comfort in times of trouble. If hunting is an outlet of frustration, then so be it. According to Rowlin Martin who surveryed some pastors about the religion comment said that they agree. When people are distressed, they pray more - they go to church more. When asked where he thought these comments would go (if they would hurt Obama) he said that would depend on the spin that the media would put on it. He was right because it isn’t a story without the media.

If they had listened to the people of PA, they too would have heard what Senator Obama expressed as their feelings. He speaks the truth, and that goes against all the Clintons stand for. Sorry, Hillary, this won’t work either. The people in PA are smarter than you give them credit.

To: An American in Canada

Well you’re in Canada. How in touch are you with what is going on in PA? Barack is a true patriot for telling it like it is. Course you wouldn’t know what that means now would you.

Contrary to popular belief there is a substantial difference between Obama and Billary.

First, Obama’s comment’s are ““demeaning” and “elitist” as reported by Senator Clinton.

Next, we see as alos reported by Senator Clinton’s tax return’s that her average earnings of $1,560 per hour since Billary left office IS ELITEST.

Bill and Hillary’s lifestyle is also demeaning and elitest. Did anybody else wonder why they earned so much more per year in retirement than the Bush’s and the Carter’s? Could it be that elitest “two term” Presidential Health Care plan that they mentioned. If Hillary is going to give everybody in America something that good, perhaps I should listen, but then, I don’t think they would ever keep their word.

Does anybody else remember Bill’s first choice for his Presidential Library? Was it in Arkansas where he served as Governor for so many years? No. Was it in a Middle Class Neighborhood? No he originally planned one near downtown Manhattan, finally moving it to its present location to keep the Black votes happy for Hillary.

Who knew Bill? You could have kept your first choice after all.

If I have a choice betwen somebody who occasionaly chooses elitest speech versus somebody whose very lifestyle screams ELITEST, I’ll take the former everytime.

Like a broken washing machine stuck on spin cycle, this incompetent (yet “highly intelligent” ;) snoot is always trying to recast his blunders. “What I meant to say was …. ” staring loftily of into space, nose held high. His abhorrence of regular (meaning non radical far left) whites is palpable. There are deep clouds of doubt in his eyes when he speaks, as being false is a heavy burden. Every word passes through layers of editing … he stammers and pauses — and moves on to his mantra of CHANGE. Just a word. He charges Republicans of using the politics of fear because he himself is so afraid. Hell, he is simply afraid of his own democratic ‘constituency’ revolting against him before Hillary drops out.

There will be Bitterness

How many of you used the words “elite” or “elitist” before that soundbyte was planted on you by the Clintons and media?

Seriously.

Wanna know how you’re getting played, listen to yourself and see if you begin to use the same language of the “news” you watch, read, or listen to.

Psychology…for real. Don’t be puppetized.

Blah Blah Blah. All of this spin is meant to take people’s eyes off of Mark Penn, Bill’s stupid remarks on the campaign trail like, ‘hey, she’s 60, she’s tired, and she “misspoke” 5 times, the shady deals that allowed they to make $109 million, etc. etc. Talk about out of touch!

If in 2008 the best the Republicans have to offer America is John McCain……..a remnant of the past where you select generals with drawn spears and shields whose only duty is looking for the next battle to be pitched to lead his men into another field of death.
Oh for a President who is in touch with his people and their welfare and whose priority is to make for a better lifestyle that will in the end make for less crime and extremists instead of creating homes of grief and physically and mentally disturbed citizens who gets carted off to wars uncalled for and plunders around the world………..Americans for change are with Sen. Barack Obama.

You people who put your big noses where they dont belong should get a life. Whos business is it that Hillary stayed with Bill after he cheated. I think that is her decision and no one elses. That is sickening. You should get b*tched slapped all over the place for even saying it….FRANK TELLS IS A LOOSER!!!! Try worrying about bigger things that have to do with our country.

If you don’t want to defend the country, don’t join the military. That simple.
They know the risks when they join up and swear the oath.
PA isn’t the only state that has lost jobs over the past 30 years. Clinton signed NAFTA.
We no longer make buggy whips either. Between unions, taxes, regulations, competition & enviromentalists businesses had to move. With Al Gores whacky ideas it will get worse.
Un-employment and taxes are lower now than when Clinton was president. You want it worse? Vote dem.
McCain 08

wendy- This may explain why you “Think” Obama doesn’t get it. He Does get it, alright, he sees 12-20+ votes for him if he can get them amnesty, plus groups like La Raza & other have tremendous resources for him in future. Obama on immigration? Media doesn’t tell us, but Obama will.

Barack Obama supporting La Raza & preaching Amnesty for 12 to 20+ million illegal immigrants. Obama & Immigration Quote; “I don’t only talk the talk, you know I’ve walked the walk you have!” A vote for Obama is a sure vote for Amnesty. Before you vote, review all Obama’s clips & other speeches on illegal immigration, driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants because the media won’t touch them!

Let’s see….people clinging to their guns or religion or antipathy to anyone who is not like them….bitter and frustrated at the status quo…. that sounds exactly like the “Rev” Wright and his band of braindead followers (including Sen and Mrs BHO) more than it sounds like any small town Pennsylvanians I know.

Talk about LIBERAL PROJECTION. If BHO and his fellow travellers believe something, obviously it’s what any “right-minded” person would believe. Right? Well, no, it isn’t. What an arrogent a$$. What makes him think he has the slightest clue as to what most Americans feel about, race, religio, patriotism, small town values, etc. He comes from none of that.. He dispises traditional American values. Listen to him, he’s dumb enough to keep saying it to you….don’t be dumber still and refuse to accept it as the truth.

He suffers from the Hollywood model of political expertise: Say the most absurd thing you can think of on any political topic without having any education or experience dealing with the subject matter at hand, and it will be accepted by the mindless bobble heads who can’t think beyond their “feelings” and are impressed by the package and idea is wrapped in rather than the substance of the issue. And, guess what? It’s working for him. Check out the audiences seated behind him at his rallies….enthralled, eyes glazed over, fainting and cheering even though none of them can articulate what his true philosophies are or what a BHO presidency would mean to this country.

I wonder how those small town Pennsylvanians who swooned over his speeches these last few weeks feel now that he has shown the contempt he really feels fro them?

Obama certainly has lit a nuclear bomb underneath the right wing media and their supporters. He is exposing each and every one of them. Truth really is inconvenient. It hurts badly to those who try their best to hide it.

Its really hilarious how the people who are on the right, seem to comment. All they seem to say is this:

Oh but Obama is a snake oil sales man…
Oh but Obama is a racist…
Oh the whites supporting Obama are dumb…
Oh Obama should stand as the Pastor of America not the presidency…
Oh Obama is a Communist….
Oh Obama is a Muslim terrorist….
Oh Obama will sink America…..

Hate mongers, coming from those who support a warmonger.

I pity your case Bill, but then like Cindy maybe your brain has become as tired as John McCain who barely has the strength to get out of his rocking chair much less the brains for a twenty first century approach to American politics. Carter came from the era of the cold war, this is 2008, we need a President who is alert enough to think on his feet. McCain gives the impression of a robot that is being controlled by playing kids who are not sure which direction to programme it.

I bet a lot of the people in the Early states wish they knew then what they know now.

Me thinks the golden boy is getting tarnished. Chris and Keith MSNBC are beginning to squirm.

Guess I’ll go to Real Clear Politics and see what the “journalists” are writing today.

This is Hillary’s only hope to pounce on something Obama has said and twist and spin it around as many times as possible. He is simply saying Yes I know you are fed up and bitter about the way things are turning out in your small towns, and No it’s not the only time we turn to GOD. We know if youare a a true Christian you serve GOD in good times as well as the bad. But often times when things are really going bad I do turn to GOD even more for understanding, for guidance and for help. I also turn to my friends, family, and whatever outlet I use for comfort whether it be writing, drinking a beer or if I was a hunter, be it my gun. YES, HE is in touch and anyone that thinks that Hillary is in touch with working class people are fools. NAFTA has made them rich. She’s not going to amend anything to do with NAFTA that interfers with her husband making more money through trade deals for THEM. As he gets richer, so does she. These are the real issues people just want to forget about. Blue collar workers should be offended about losing their jobs over something Hillary help put into action instead of someone stating publically about how alot of Americans feel right now. Cause I am fed up with high gas prices, this senseless war, food prices, my job catering to illegal immigrants, and the list goes on.

Obama will win in General elections believe it or not.

For some of the same Elitists, to which people mistakenly have ascribed Obama to be, are in the ranks of Republicans. Not all Republicans are Biblicans. I am sure those republicans would have had a hearty laugh and nodded indeed Obama is correct : For many people not just in America, but all across the world fall back on Religion and guns when jo
