My obsession rages on…

Throughout this election, it has become my obsession to say as many negative things about Mike Huckabee as my imagination can come up with. My vehement hatred for the man all stems from one question that he casually posed to a NY Times reporter (who claimed to know a lot about Mormonism) about whether or not Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers. As a Mormon, I do believe that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers. However, my bishop (at the ward I attend) instructs us to conceal such ‘deeper doctrines’ because people outside of the LDS Church just don’t understand such truths, and their unwillingness to accept them only jeopardizes our attempts to market ourselves as a Christian religion. In any event, I will go on hating Huckabee for a million eternities, because I am so insecure in my own faith that I have no other choice but to hate him with a demonic passion. Instead, as a temple-worthy Mormon (complete with magic underpants), I support wholeheartedly and without reservation my fellow cult member, Mitt Romney. If only he were elected President (or at least Vice President) then maybe my false religion would gain some credibility and people would no longer think us as a cult. Of course, you bozos in Eldorado, Texas are complicating matters greatly by actually following the teachings of our founder/prophet, Joseph Smith. Us mainline Mormons are smart enough to hide the less attractive aspects of our religion (such as polygamy, our aspirations to godhood, secret temple ceremonies including the handshake that gets you into heaven, magic underwear, etc.) instead of flaunting them like this splinter group of Mormons in Texas.

All Mormons (and others of equally deficient IQs), I would encourage you to follow my lead…

And we expect people who bring in millions a year to understand the working man…..why? Only the democratic party and its blind followers have a dream that their elceted person will fly down with a cape an drescue them. They believe somehow obama will miraculously save them from their own bad decisions such as dropping out of school, haveing no viable skills, making babies without the means to support them, etc. Obama will no more fix their issues then they have fixed their own!~

This whole issue is simply a media-hyped frenzy, being propagated by two candidates who are truly out of touch with reality (HRC and J. McCain).

Obama was simply telling the truth and we all need to wake up. Obama was emphasizing the neglect of Washington toward the working class voters in Pennsylvania, and how we have all been duped into turning our attentions to things like gun rights and gay marriage, when our time would be better spent holding our elected officials accountable for the promises they make to revitalize our towns and cities when they want our votes and yet forget about it all once they’ve been elected.

The truth is, many people are really frustrated and bitter that our government IS OUT OF TOUCH with the everyday wants, desires and goals of the average American: which are to live safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives. But, how can the average working class person achieve this when their jobs are being outsourced by BIG businesses who only want to save a dime by hiring cheaper labor. Thus, there are those of us who are left to cling to our faith, thing that are familiar to us and out frustrations could easily be redirected toward issues that were never caused the problem in the first place, such as illegal immigration, affirmative action, and homosexual rights.

Come on people, wake up and stop being duped by the top 1% of those in this country who control 80% of the resources in this country.
Instead of paying attention to the real issues, they’d rather us continue to fuss over statements being taken out of context rather than questioning the establishment which has left some disproportionately rich, and us, by comparison, woefully poor.

brynn - Are you honestly suggesting that people of religion in small towns are religious because of government? They have guns because of government? You can’t honestly believe that. Oh really, and John McCain has a clue about fixing the economy, healthcare, education, and even the war? Please, anytime McCain speaks, he needs a telepromter. He’s one step away from having a ” senior moment” each time he speaks, just like the time he had to be corrected by Lieberman for confusing the relationship between Al-Qaeda (sunni) and Iran (shiite). It’s not my place to advocate any one candidate here, but let us have a truly fair and balanced discussion about the candidates. McCain has not, in my opinion, ofered a compelling and comprhensive plan on how he has is going to actually fix our education system, help to heal racial division, or make our healthcare system better. As for HRC, she has good ideas and I do believe she could do some good, but she can’t be trusted. Someone who has to embellish an already astounding political career just to get the upper hand on their opponent is simply unecessary and a bad representation of her great potential. Also, she is incredibly devisive, which could defeat even the best proposal before it is even voted on.

I wasn’t at all implying that one is religious because of government. I am a very spiritual person myself, so I understand that one’s relationship with God is personal and has nothing to do with politics, or government. However, what I am saying is that evreyone should really read the entire transcript of the speech. The media does this same thing all the time. They take one snippet from a speech and expect people to rush to judgment without analyzing the details for themselves. if you read the entire speech, Obama made that comment in the context of a broader appeal to the frustrations and bitterness many working class Americans feel toward a a national policy that has in general been neglectful to them and the things that are important to them. Now, we can agree to disagree on the language Barack used to describe these sentiments, because we’ll probably never agree on that. But can we atleast agree to read the transcript and form our opinions based on the entire text and why these statements were made? I think that we can all imagine a time in our lives where, we have been frustrated or bitter about one thing, and then those feelings were somehow transferred to another person or issue. It happens, and most of the time we do it without even realizing it. Now, maybe in some person’s opinions, Obama could have left the part out about “persons clinging to their guns, religion, or being against illegals”, but if that’s been his personal experience in pennsylvania, who are we to refute it. Have we traveled to pennsylvania to talk with some of these disaffected workers, do we even understand the challenges they face day to day in figuring out where their next mortgage payment is going to come from? Let’s not judge Obama here. But, we should, however, seek to educate ourselves on these issues, so that we might form a more informed opinion as to how we feel about these issues.

Wow, it’s amazing that this article left so much out of his speech. However it is not amazing the comments that have come from the fox faithful. I have never seen so many sheep in my life. The poor in this country funded the war with high gas prices and a bad economy while watching there jobs leave the country. Not because of NAFTA but because the Bush faithful allowed jobs to leave the country while the republican faithful blocked the unions from stopping it. Now your Taxes are done overseas while terrorist collect your SSN. What promises do they have left for you? “We will stop abortions, keep your guns and save your religion.” During the Clinton years no one cared , we were making money.

I say we have one of two directions, we can stay on the war path while Canadians and Chinese come buy in America because our dollar sucks. We can put Clinton in office and be forced into every program she tried before. Or we can go with Obama.

By the way for people who think he is racist. HA HA. Try asking McCain, Bush, Reagan, Nixon about the speaches at Bob Jones University.
