Obama On Olympic Boycott: Hold Your Horses
After his campaign criticized rival Hillary Clinton for calling on the president to boycott the Olympic opening ceremonies, Senator Obama clarified his position on the issue this afternoon — releasing a statement urging a boycott only if China fails to clean up its act in Darfur and Tibet leading up to the summer games.
“If the Chinese do not take steps to help stop the genocide in Darfur and to respect the dignity, security, and human rights of the Tibetan people, then the President should boycott the opening ceremonies,” he said. “As I have communicated in public and to the President, it is past time for China to respect the human rights of the Tibetan people, to allow foreign journalists and diplomats access to the region, and to engage the Dalai Lama in meaningful talks about the future of Tibet. I am also deeply concerned about China’s failure to support efforts to halt the genocide in Darfur.”
“Regarding the Beijing Olympics this summer, a boycott of the opening ceremonies should be firmly on the table, but this decision should be made closer to the Games,” he said.
Asked what the US should do about China a it pertained to the games at an event in Pennsylvania today, Senator Obama demurred - speaking in broad terms about economic and human right transgression but never mentioning the olympics themselves.
And just this morning, the Obama campaign was privately criticizing Clinton for identifying the Opening Ceremonies as a point of leverage publicly, telling Major Garrett that it removed the ability of the president to use the of a boycott to extract concessions on human rights.

What a crock!!
Throughout this election, it has become my obsession to say as many negative things about Mike Huckabee as my imagination can come up with. My vehement hatred for the man all stems from one question that he casually posed to a NY Times reporter (who claimed to know a lot about Mormonism) about whether or not Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers. As a Mormon, I do believe that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers. However, my bishop (at the ward I attend) instructs us to conceal such ‘deeper doctrines’ because people outside of the LDS Church just don’t understand such truths, and their unwillingness to accept them only jeopardizes our attempts to market ourselves as a Christian religion. In any event, I will go on hating Huckabee for a million eternities, because I am so insecure in my own faith that I have no other choice but to hate him with a demonic passion. Instead, as a temple-worthy Mormon (complete with magic underpants), I support wholeheartedly and without reservation my fellow cult member, Mitt Romney. If only he were elected President (or at least Vice President) then maybe my false religion would gain some credibility and people would no longer think us as a cult. Of course, you bozos in Eldorado, Texas are complicating matters greatly by actually following the teachings of our founder/prophet, Joseph Smith. Us mainline Mormons are smart enough to hide the less attractive aspects of our religion (such as polygamy, our aspirations to godhood, secret temple ceremonies including the handshake that gets you into heaven, magic underwear, etc.) instead of flaunting them like this splinter group of Mormons in Texas.
All Mormons (and others of equally deficient IQs), I would encourage you to follow my lead…
Say it with me…
HUCAKBEE IS THE DEVIL; ROMNEY IS GOD…HUCAKBEE IS THE DEVIL; ROMNEY IS GOD…HUCAKBEE IS THE DEVIL; ROMNEY IS GOD…HUCAKBEE IS THE DEVIL; ROMNEY IS GOD…HUCAKBEE IS THE DEVIL; ROMNEY IS GOD…HUCAKBEE IS THE DEVIL; ROMNEY IS GOD…
The more often you repeat this mantra (as is the case when you bear your testimony as a Mormon), the more convinced you will become of its truthfulness. Say it a few times and see if, you too, do not get a burning feeling in your bosom to verify its validity.
“Senator Obama pulled clarified his position…”
Bruce Lee’s martials arts philosophy was “No way as a way.” I think the same could go for Obama’s political rhetoric. The only position he claims to have is the one that polls the best, for now. He might actually be better off saying the opposite of what he actually thinks, if he isn’t doing it already.

Anyone can claim to be a “Mormon” but that doesn’t make them a member of or doctorinally square with the LDS church.
I’d like to ‘hold his (Obama’s) horses’…fondle them with my fingers…and tickle them with my tongue.
My gay lover, proudmale, and I would love to invite Obama over for an evening of candlelit cuddling and carousing.
Come on, Obama, bend over and earn our vote!

Asking Questions Is Easy, Finding The Answers Sometimes Hurts
I thought Barack Hussein Obama was the right choice. His books moved me, his speeches are amazing and everything about him seemed right to me. I firmly believed he was my voice…until I did some research and realized his voice and message was a tangled web of lies. Here’s what I found out; I have no agenda here, but to save everyone some time by providing them with my hours of research. (Please use the links to verify all the information; I’m a stickler for sources…)
Change We Can Believe In?
First off, I DO support Hillary Clinton now. I found some information that, as a good American, I felt needed to be shared, so I’m providing this information for people who may not have the time to spend hours researching the candidates.
.
“If you’re having girl problems, I feel bad for you son. I got 99 Problems, but a b*tch ain’t one.”
This is the chorus from the SONG Barack used to celebrate his victory in Iowa. Obviously a dig at Hillary, coming off of John McCain being asked (at one of his rallies), “How do we beat the b*tch?” I guess Obama answered in his own way. The song played while he hopped onstage to a cheering crowd. The song is “99 Problems” by Jay-Z.
.
Read one of the many articles written about Obama’s song choice here: http://www.nypost.com/seven/01142008/gossip/pagesix/hillary__barack_rap__rock_142152.htm
This is not the CHANGE I stand for. In it, Jay-Z refers to women as h*oes and b*i*t*c*h*e*s, refers to their p**u***ssy in a derogatory way, uses a variety of swears and so on and so on. Why would a future president do this? There were women and children in that audience and yet, this song seemed appropriate, just because he wanted to stick it to Hillary Clinton? He also refused to apologize for this use of derogatory language and song. What kind of change is that?
In Obama’s speech tradition, here’s a list of things he’s managed to accomplish. Yes, he can…
.
Can Barack lie to the American people and claim that he didn’t vote for the war?
.YES HE CAN! Obama wasn’t elected into the Senate until 2005; the vote for the resolution for military action in Iraq was voted on in 2002. He never voted against the war and in fact, voted FOR funding and continuing the war once he was elected Senator. http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/vote_menu_107_2.htm
Can Barack claim to vote from his heart, while using his Senate committees to secure endorsements for his campaign with hundreds of thousands of dollars?
YES HE CAN!! Barack used his political action committee to give hundreds of thousands of dollars to politicians in key primary states in order to secure endorsements.
Can Barack miss key votes in the Senate, while claiming to work hard for the American people?
YES HE CAN! Barack has refused to make a decision and instead voted “present” over 130 times. On issues like abortion, gun control and all the issues he claims are important to him, Obama refused to do anything but sit there. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/20/us/politics/20obama.html &
Can Barack pretend to have a happy family life, when there are rumors surrounding his fidelity? YES HE CAN! Obama has been seen with other women but has not been caught in the act…YET. http://www.truthofitgossip.blogspot.com
Can Barack pretend to be a scandal free, different politician than the usual dirty politicians while his campaign contributors, personal friends, neighbors and business partners are indicted?
YES HE CAN! Obama traded money with Rezko after he had been indicted and revealed to be a crook. Rezko contributed to Obama’s campaigns in Illinois as well as his current run for president. He has not returned the money or made any amends for that dirty money he used to be elected in Illinois. Rezko and Obama bought homes next door to each other. Rezko is a man considered by many dirty, corrupt and a crook. Obama seemed to have no problem with this man even after he was indicted and decided this was the type of man to do business with. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4204413&page=1
Can Barack pretend to have better judgment than George W. Bush, while making business deals with indicted criminals?
YES HE CAN! http://weblogs.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/blog/2008/01/by_frank_james_in_monday.html
Obama,,,always is waiting for hillary to answer a question, then tries to either agree with her,,or out do her. B.O. does MCCAIN THE same way
Can Barack say he is a candidate for change while Hillary Clinton is a typical politician in 2008, but in 2005, ask her to campaign for him and help raise money for him?
YES HE CAN! Obama asked for Hillary’s support and got it. She was a helpful factor in his election in Illinois.

Why the GOP Loves Obama

Republicans this week are breathing a deep sigh of relief.
What was seen as a washout for them this coming November — with big losses expected in the House and Senate and a catastrophic loss of the White House — is now shaping up to be less ominous.
With the Democrats moving to pick Sen. Barack Obama as their nominee, the Republicans see a real opportunity to keep the Oval Office in GOP hands.
There is no question that the Republicans had viewed Hillary Clinton as the most formidable of the Democratic candidates.
During one of the primary debates, Obama suggested that the Republicans were “comfortable” attacking Hillary, suggesting they actually wanted her to be the nominee. Au contraire.
Republicans were attacking Mrs. Clinton because they believed she would be the nominee. They could hardly foresee Obama’s rise.
Indeed, she was the Democratic front-runner and hence the focus of their attacks. Now, Obama is discovering that he’s the focus of Republican scrutiny, with John McCain highlighting Obama’s accommodationist views with tyrants.
The glee seen in GOP eyes this week can be chalked up to the clearly visible fault lines shaping up for the November election, a seismic battle between McCain and Obama.
There are many reasons the GOP would rather face Obama. Here are some of the best reasons:
Obama is the risky liberal. Every time the Democrats run a liberal like Obama, who the National Journal reports has a 100 percent liberal voting record, they lose.
Remember President McGovern, President Dukakis, President Kerry? Mrs. Clinton, however, has been quite clever in her record and rhetoric to come across as more moderate. In New York state she consistently won hardcore Republican districts in her two Senate races.
A McCain insider told me this week that Obama’s support — for example, for driver’s licenses for illegals — is worth at least “five percentage points in the election.” Mrs. Clinton was smart enough to back away from that hot-button issue.
Obama energizes Democratic voters. It’s been talked about quite a bit that Obama is a charismatic man who energizes young voters. But young voters notoriously don’t vote.
Remember all the hoopla in the last election with MTV and its “Vote or Die” campaign to bring out antiwar young voters for President Kerry?
Indeed, Obama, as the first African-American candidate of a major party, will energize black voters. But don’t the Democrats know that black voters vote as a bloc for them already?
What does Obama actually bring to the table for Democrats? It’s not clear. Mrs. Clinton, as her longtime critic Dick Morris likes to point out, would have most assuredly energized women voters, especially millions of single moms that have never voted before.
Obama’s Latino problem. Clearly Latino or Hispanic voters are shaping up to be the key swing vote in this election, as they have been in recent elections. Some political pundits say George Bush’s come-from-behind win in 2004 was due to the solid 40 percent of Hispanics who voted for him, tipping the election in his favor.
This year was shaping up to be a terrible year for the GOP vis-à-vis Hispanic voters. But in primary after primary, Obama has had great difficulty winning over Latino voters.
Even in Illinois, where he beat Hillary to 2 to 1 in the primary, he only captured 52 percent of his home state’s Hispanic vote.
There are a variety of explanations for Obama’s Latino problem, including the belief there is an ethnic rivalry between Hispanics and blacks. Hispanics would like to see a Latino president in the White House, so the theory goes.
Mrs. Clinton, on the other hand, has done extremely well among Latino voters, perhaps owing to her husband’s likeability among these voters.
The recent primaries show Obama improving with Hispanic voters. Republicans, however, believe the problem with this key group will persist.
And then there is John McCain, who is the one Republican who is very well liked by Latino voters. He’s also a strong leader, which Hispanics respect. He’s pro-immigrant. As we all know, McCain joined Ted Kennedy in backing the recent immigration bill.
There’s little doubt Hillary could keep the Democratic stranglehold on Latino voters. Obama won’t.
Obama’s naiveté. Don’t forget, America is still in a war on terror. It is doubtful America will be tempted to go for an untested leader, no matter how charismatic he may be.
Some have drawn the comparison between Obama and JFK’s election win in 1960 during the height of the Cold War. But the Kennedy-Obama comparison is a weak one. For starters, John Kennedy was a war hero when he was elected president. Obama can make no such claim. Kennedy also had far more Washington experience in Congress and the Senate than Obama.
JFK also had his well-known father Joe at his side. And Democrats like to forget this, but Kennedy outflanked Nixon on defense issues, arguing that Nixon was too soft on communism. Obama’s dovish complaints about the Bush administration being too hawkish on terror won’t resonate with middle-of-the-road voters.
With good reason, the GOP is feeling better, finding its second wind as it coalesces around John McCain.
Despite some differences with the maverick senator, the Republican base will turn out for him. His $12 million fundraising haul for January is just one sign of that.
But there are many other reasons the GOP is more comfortable with Hillary out of the picture and Obama as the nominee.
First, Obama will not be able to lay claim to the good economic times of the 1990s that Bill Clinton presided over, as Hillary can. And Obama will be a nightmare for Democrats with swing voters in key states. Take for example the highly influential Cuban-American vote that Bill Clinton won in 1992 and 1996 — and was the key reason George Bush beat Al Gore.
The Cuban vote has been moving into the Democratic column but they will not go for Obama because he has clearly stated he will open up relations with Castro.
Sen. Clinton’s announced Cuba policies take a hard line, which resonates with these voters. And then there are the key Jewish communities in swing states like Florida and Ohio that are already deeply worried about electing Obama to the presidency.
Obama has talked openly about sitting down — without any preconditions — with Iran’s diabolical leader Ahmadinejad, who just this week referred to Israel as “bacteria” and has said in the past that the Jewish state is a “disgraceful blot” that should be “wiped off the map.”
With the McCain campaign blanketing key markets with TV ads featuring “independent Democrat” Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Obama will be in deep trouble.
The Democrats haven’t completely abandoned Hillary. But it sure looks that way.
There’s an oft-quoted saying that the Democrats “fall in love and Republicans fall in line.”
After this November, we may have to change that to “Democrats often like to run off the side of a cliff and the Republicans love to watch them.”
OUR APPEAL TO DNC LEADERSHIP AND ALL SUPERDELEGATES IS TO SUPPORT….
- SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON IF YOU WANT TO WIN BACK THE WHITE HOUSE.
- SUPERDELEGATE SHOULD VOTE BASE ON THE VERY PURPOSE WHY WE CREATED YOU…

Goatboy friends with Sean Hannity.
We kick your A$$ any day.
Sean Hannity is a closet homo who had secret affairs with Hal Turner. He is G*Y and i don’t mean happy. I thought G*Y people were happy people. But this guy is a rac*st and G*Y, and he was too affraid to joint the military because he knew that the government would learn about his affairs with Turner.
Why is it that no one ever asks why Clinton’s (ex) campaign manager Mark Penn and McCain’s current campaign manager Charles Black work for the same lobbyist firm (BKCH)? Furthermore, Penn is Black’s boss. Isn’t this conflict of interest? It also explains why both Clintons can make the satement that Obama was not Presidential material, while Clinton and McCain were. huuumm.
Glenn Beck is for America. He is going to expose the fakers.

Ok, well you’ll graduate from kindergarten soon (if your lucky) then life is going to get a little more complicated for you, I have a feeling.
Hillary out-flanks BO on the military and ALL these people agree:
all these vets/military personel have endorsed Sen. Clinton…and such endorsements just keep coming in…this shows that they rightly don`t care about what Hillary`s views, etc., on the military may or may not have been in the past…what`s most important, as expressed in their testimonials, is what Clinton`s views are now…which they all show strong support for!
this is not meant to compare with or to McCain…it instead is meant to compare to Obama`s lousy record backed up by far fewer endorsements from our vets/military personel!…especially in light of Obama`s MORONIC statements today that he`s better than both McCain and Clinton on foreign policy and running our military…despite his almost NON-EXISTENT experience sitting down with foreign leaders…and the FACT that he`s only visited a scant few countries compared to McCain and Clinton!
Obama`s arrogance is so great that he can`t see his great ignorance by making such statements…a speech can only take you so far…my 12 yr.-old son gave a speech against the war too…yet, nobody`s saying that he`s got the necessary judgement to run the most powerful country on earth…and that he would be better at US foreign policy than both McCain and Clinton…and also better than both at running our military…the FACT is that he wouldn`t and neither would Obama on all counts!
in a word, Obama`s an IGNORAMUS!…running before he`s actually ready and about to go down as the worst President in history if elected…the military will not be run by this IDIOT!…that`s why he`s got so few vet/military endorsements…they see him for the arrogant, ignorant MORON that he is…especially when it comes to foreign policy and the military!
so yes…IF A DEM…our vets/military know who they want answering that phone at 3:00 AM…Most, ENDORSING A DEM, are endorsing Clinton.
Sen. Clinton now has the endorsement of over 2000 vets/military personel…now, Gen. Henry Shelton can be added to that long list…:One of our nation’s top military figures, General Shelton served two terms as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Presidents Clinton and George W. Bush. In announcing his endorsement, General Shelton said, “I’ve been with Senator Clinton when she has been with our military men and women. I know from those experiences that she understands the demands and sacrifice of military life. I am confident she will always put the readiness and well being of our troops first. She is ready to be Commander-in-Chief.”
General Shelton joins General John Shalikashvili as the second former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to have endorsed Senator Clinton. General Shelton is the fourth flag officer to endorse Senator Clinton this week.
TESTIMONIALS: Former Admirals, Generals and Senior Defense Officials on Why They Support Hillary Clinton to be the Next Commander-in-Chief
In a conference call with reporters, former Admirals, Generals, and senior defense officials gave their reasons for supporting Senator Clinton to be our next Commander-in-Chief.
Their testimonials highlight Senator Clinton’s qualifications, experience, and strength of character.
General Wesley Clark
“She has done her homework on national security and I know from my personal discussions with her and with many other friends that go in and brief her in her role in the Senate Armed Services Committee. She knows the facts, she knows the details, plus she has the big picture. She is a strategic thinker but she has the building blocks of the strategy in her personal knowledge. This is someone that when she is president our military is going to respect very highly, and when our Senior Officers brief her and meet with her they are going be very, very impressed by what she knows and the intelligence that she brings to these problems.”
Brigadier General John Watkins, Jr.
“As I think about the challenges facing the nation and having been in uniform for almost thirty years, worked with a number of presidents to include the last four, I can’t think of a single person - those generals included - who s better qualified to walk into the Oval Office than Hillary Clinton. I don’t make that statement very lightly. She is more qualified, in my view, than her husband Bill was when he entered the office. It is no surprise to me that you would have as many flag officers who serve this country and Secretaries of the Army and Navy who have served this country who would come out and support Hillary.”
Major General Paul Eaton
“On a personal note, I have a Special Forces Captain son and a Sergeant Paratrooper both in Afghanistan and I find Senator Clinton the perfect choice to be their Commander-in-Chief and to display the loyalty to command our armed forces and to rebuild them after the conflicts in which we are engaged right now.”
Lieutenant General Claudia Kennedy
“I support her because I trust her. I trust Hillary Clinton because of her judgment and her leadership. I have confidence that she is responsive to the needs of people. I believe that she understands leadership the way we do in the Army and that is that it’s about building connections and relationships and establishing guidance and leadership for others. I think she’ll rebuild relationships with other countries that have been suffering for the last seven or eight years; those relationships have really been strained beyond anything I would have anticipated. Another part of Hillary Clinton that I think is just tremendous is that she knows our reality. She is in touch with people, she listens to people. She decides what she believes about policy based on what’s right, she has integrity, and on what works, so she’s practical.”
Lieutenant General Frederick Vollrath
“I support Senator Clinton because I believe it’s time for change in our country, a new direction. And I know change carries with it risks. Senator Clinton is the candidate, in my opinion, with the proven experience that truly understands the risks and how to possibly cope with those risks to get the job done. We shouldn’t shirk from change because of the risks, but we absolutely have to have a leader with the proven experience. America, in the area of national defense, must be successful and Senator Clinton has that experience to create change, to understand the risk, and to get the job done.”
Admiral William Owens
“In this world that we face today, very complex as all of us know, I think experience will be really at a premium, especially at the level of the Commander-in-Chief. There’s not time to learn. The phone rings and you have to be ready. You have to ready with intuition, with experience and with skills. And this world will have the complexities that perhaps we’ve never before seen. I’ve been impressed with and admire Hillary Clinton for her work in the Senate. And we need people with great judgment. I think she brings the best of talent, intuition and experience to handle these unknown threats in the future.”
and a list of the most recent vets/military personel to endorse her:..todays, Hlllary got the endorsement of two distinguished, retired admirals, Vice Admiral Donald C. Arthur and Rear Admiral Stuart F. Platt. They join an eminent group of 30 retired admirals and generals who have endorsed Senator Clinton to be our nation’s next Commander-in-Chief…
and the list continues to grow:
General Wesley Clark
General John M. Shalikashvili
General Henry Hugh Shelton
General Johnnie E. Wilson
Admiral William Owens
Lt. Gen. Joe Ballard
Lt. Gen. Robert Gard
Lt. Gen. Claudia J. Kennedy
Lt. Gen. Donald L. Kerrick

AND THE STATE OF PENN. KNOWS IT TOO!
HILLARY CLINTON CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCES PENNSYLVANIA VETERANS FOR HILLARY LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE
(PHILADELPHIA, PA) – The Clinton campaign in Pennsylvania announced the creation of the Veterans for Hillary Leadership Committee. The committee, made up of 21 distinguished veterans from the Keystone State, will spearhead the campaign’s efforts to reach out to Pennsylvania’s veterans and inform them about Hillary’s record of fighting for the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform. Congressmen John Murtha and Joe Sestak, will co-chair the committee.
The committee was unveiled at a Veterans for Hillary event in Clifton Heights where Congressman Sestak, the highest ranking member of the military currently serving in the U.S. Congress, discussed Hillary Clinton’s readiness to be Commander in Chief on day one in the White House.
“Whether it is the national disgrace at Walter Reed or the failure to deal with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, the Bush Administration has consistently failed to take care of our veterans,” said Congressman John Murtha, who served in the Marine Corps for 37 years on active duty and in the reserves. “Hillary Clinton has not merely voiced support for our troops – she has fought to ensure troops returning from Iraq are screened for Traumatic Brain Injury and get the care they need. She has been a tremendous advocate for veterans in the Senate and will put their concerns front and center as President.”
In addition to the 19,000 men and women in the Pennsylvania National Guard, 5,400 Pennsylvanians join the Armed Forces every year. Senator Clinton led a bipartisan effort to ensure that Guard members and men and women in the reserves, who are shouldering much of the burden in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, now have access to the same health care as active duty service-members.
“Hillary Clinton has demonstrated her commitment to our nation’s veterans time and again,” said Congressman Joe Sestak, who served in the Navy for over 30 years, retiring as a Rear Admiral. “She has worked tirelessly with Democrats and Republicans alike to ensure that we are taking care of those who have served our country, and hundreds of thousands of citizen soldiers in the National Guard and reserves now have health care because of her efforts.”

FORMER ADMIRALS AND GENERALS REENFORCE THEIR SUPPORT FOR HILLARY OVER OBAMA!
Open Letter from Former Admirals and Generals Supporting Hillary Clinton
The challenges facing our nation today are among the most difficult of any time in our history. We are fighting wars on two fronts. Our credibility and leadership in the world have been eroded; our alliances are frayed; our armed forces are under strain.
As retired flag and general officers, we have devoted our lives to our country. We have hundreds of thousands of men and women on the front lines that have done the same. At this critical time in our nation’s history, our men and women in uniform deserve better than a presidential debate mired in trivia. The stakes are simply too high. As we are poised to choose our next Commander-in-Chief, we should not allow the media to divert attention from the real issues. What matters is who is ready and inspired to lead — who can be Commander-in -Chief on Day One.
It is imperative that our new President knows how and when to use force and diplomacy judiciously, to know how to deploy the olive branch and the arrow. The President needs to be ready to act swiftly and decisively in a crisis. And we think our next President must restore our moral authority and leadership around the world with the courage to meet with our adversaries when appropriate, and the wisdom to pursue diplomacy wisely.
It is especially important to understand the military and diplomatic challenges facing us in Iraq, and to end the Iraq war responsibly and safely. It is also important to rededicate ourselves to winning in Afghanistan, the forgotten front line in our fight against terrorism.
In these critical areas, it is clear to us that Senator Clinton is the candidate best qualified to be our nation’s next Commander-in-Chief.
We believe that she has real understanding of the military through her diligent service on the Senate Armed Services Committee. She has worked tirelessly to ensure our men and women in uniform are properly trained and equipped to be sent to battle. And she has fought to make certain that they are treated with dignity when they return home. We have personally and closely observed her respect for our armed forces, and she has earned their respect. And ours.
We hope that as a country, we will now turn our attention to the critical issues that will determine the future of our great nation.
Hillary Clinton Outlines Solutions to Strengthen America’s Military
Clinton Joined By Retired Generals Who Say Hillary Will Be Best Commander-in-Chief
During a town hall in Aliquippa, PA today, Hillary Clinton outlined solutions to strengthen our military, which has been placed under tremendous strain due to the Iraq War. Her proposals would reduce stress on our armed forces by providing troops with at least one month at home for every month they spend in the field. She would also end the stop-loss policy and ensure that the Department of Defense abides by its contracts with all our troops.
“The War in Iraq has been a harsh and daily toll on our men and women in uniform, many on their second, third, and fourth tour of duty. Among combat troops sent to Iraq for the third or fourth time, more than one in four show signs of anxiety, depression or acute stress, according to an official Army survey of soldiers’ mental health,” said Clinton. “And we cannot forget the toll on military families. So it is vital for our national security – and for the health and safety of our men and women in uniform – that we end the war in Iraq and begin to rebuild our military.
“That’s why I am calling on President Bush to stop playing games by negotiating a long-term security pact with Iraq that will saddle the next president with his failed policies – without the review of the U.S. Congress. And I am calling on the president to answer the question General Petraeus did not: What is our endgame in Iraq, given the failure of the surge to achieve its objective?”
She discussed her proposals before a panel discussion with several retired military leaders, including Rear Admiral David Stone, Brigadier General Michael Dunn and Brigadier General John M. Watkins, Jr. They are among 35 Admirals and Generals who have endorsed Hillary Clinton to be our nation’s next Commander-in-Chief. In addition, she was also joined by Monroeville Mayor Gregory Erosenko, a Vietnam-era Army veteran, and Thomas Giza, a former Army Specialist and Iraq veteran, who is also from Monroeville. Mayor Erosenko also announced his endorsement of Hillary Clinton today.
Today’s town hall is part of the campaign’s ongoing effort to reach out to veterans and their families. In fact, several volunteers are currently conducting a grassroots Veterans for Hillary tour, visiting 37 towns and cities all across Pennsylvania. Throughout their stops, the Veterans for Hillary are visiting veterans who are sick or injured, meeting with local veterans at Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion halls, and signing up volunteers.
At the event, Hillary also reinforced her commitment to end the war in Iraq and bring the troops home.
“You can count on me to end the war safely and responsibly. In fact, I led efforts in Congress to force the Bush Administration to plan for withdrawal from Iraq, so that we wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes getting out of Iraq that we committed getting in,” said Clinton. “Senator McCain says he will keep American troops in Iraq for 100 years – and you can count on that. Senator Obama says he will get American troops out in 16 months, but his advisor says you can’t count on that. And one candidate is ready to be commander in chief – to end the war and rebuild our military while honoring our soldiers and veterans. And you’re looking at her.”
After more than five years, the Iraq war has placed unprecedented strains on the American military. The war has claimed the lives of more than 4,000 brave young men and women. Tens of thousands more have been wounded, many with invisible injuries like Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The war has also eroded the military’s strength, straining capacity, and weakening its ability to be prepared for new and unexpected challenges as well as address the growing danger on the forgotten front line in Afghanistan.
The Bush-Cheney-McCain strategy is to continue this failed policy. Hillary will end this war, bring our troops home, and reduce the stress on the men and women of our armed forces and their families. Below is her plan to strengthen the military, bring the troops home, and ensure that veterans receive the care and services they deserve.
STRENGTHENING OUR MILITARY
Hillary believes we must ensure that we treat the forces we send into battle with honor and respect. Hillary will ensure that our troops receive sufficient time at home between deployments to rest, reconnect with their families, and receive appropriate training for their next mission. As President, Hillary will take the following steps.
Reduce Strains on Our Troops. The war is placing tremendous strain on our armed forces, courting strategic risks posed by a force that is stretched to the breaking point. As President, Hillary will also adopt the proposals of Rep. John Murtha that, for every month they spend in the field, soldiers will be guaranteed one month here at home. Our Marines will have a similar standard appropriate for their service. The Army’s policy goals and practice until the Iraq war were to have at least twice as much time at home for active duty soldiers as in the field and at least four times as much time at home as in the field for National Guard and Reserve. As President, Hillary will reestablish these as long-term goals for our armed forces.
End Stop Loss. More than 70,000 enlisted soldiers have been affected by this policy that forces soldiers to remain in the military beyond their contractual time, sometimes by as much as two years. On top of multiple tours of duty and little time at home between deployments, this policy increases the chances for physical and psychological problems, and deters people from joining the military. As President, Hillary will stop this policy and ensure that the Department of Defense abides by its contracts with all soldiers.
Build a Military for the Future. In the wake of Iraq, we need to restore and reshape the military with the future in mind. In addition to fighting conventional wars, the force of the future needs to be able to deal with a wide range of possible scenarios, including responding to conflict in weak and failing states and responding to humanitarian crises. Hillary will direct the Secretary of Defense to give first priority to build the force we need for the 21st century in areas where the need is greatest, including civil affairs, psychological operations, engineers, military police, and linguists.
START BRINGING OUR TROOPS HOME
To strengthen national security and begin to relieve the strain on our armed forces, we need to end the war in Iraq, begin bringing our troops home safely and responsibly, and stabilize Iraq.
As President, Hillary will convene her senior military leadership and will direct them to draw up a clear, comprehensive plan for bringing our troops home, beginning in 60 days. She will pursue a new diplomatic initiative in the region, including convening a regional stabilization meeting early in her Presidency to develop and implement a strategy to stabilize Iraq. Hillary will lead an international effort under the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to address the major refugee crisis created by this war. Hillary’s plan will also ensure that the United States maintains a small and effective counterterrorism force in Iraq and the region to ensure al Qaeda never gains a capability to attack the United States or its allies from Iraq
A CHAMPION FOR VETERANS
Hillary’s agenda for the military builds on her record of fighting for veterans. When Hillary is President, she will make sure that every member of our armed forces will receive a fair shot at the American Dream when their service is over. She will ensure that every veteran in America will have health care. She will work so that every veteran receives the benefits they have earned and the assistance they need - right from the start. And she will make sure no soldier ever loses a bonus because he or she has been injured in service. As President, Hillary will:
Restore and Expand TBI Program. Hillary Clinton joined Senator Barbara Mikulski in writing to President Bush, calling on him to reverse his plan to eliminate the Traumatic Brain Injury Program, which has a been a crucial component of the federal government’s system of care for the million of Americans dealing with TBI, including many veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The program that was eliminated by President Bush’s budget provides grants to states to help them develop systems of care for those impacted by such injuries; these grants are essential components of our national system of care for all Americans impacted by TBI. If President Bush does not restore this program, as President, Hillary will. Hillary will also improve the assessment, detection and treatment of TBI, as well as expand support systems for veterans and their families.
Fully Implement Walter Reed Recommendations. When she is President, Hillary will implement the recommendations of the Commission on the Care for Wounded Warriors, led by former Senator Bob Dole and former Secretary of Health and Human Services Donna Shalala. She will implement comprehensive recovery plans for each wounded warrior that provides the right care and support at the right time in the right place. She will streamline the transition from DoD to VA care. She will personally instruct her Secretary of Defense to recruit and retain first-rate professionals to staff our military hospitals.
Enact a GI Bill of Rights for the 21st Century. Hillary will enact a GI Bill of Rights for the 21st Century that will resurrect the spirit of the original 1944 GI Bill and offer service members, veterans and their families with expanded education, housing and entrepreneurial benefits. Her plan will guarantee equal access for all components of the Armed Forces — Active, Guard and Reserve — that have deployed overseas in support of a combat operation since September 11 or served two years of active duty since September 11. She will fund undergraduate education for service members, as well as education for specialized trade or technical training, and certification and licensing programs. She will make GI educational benefits transferable within families. She will expand the VA Home Loan Guaranty program to allow veterans to use low-interest, no-fee loans to purchase, build or improve a home valued up to $625,000. She will establish a Veterans Microloan Program to provide veterans with no-collateral, low-interest microloans of up to $100,000 for entrepreneurial ventures.
Provide Affordable and Quality Health Care for All Veterans. As President, Hillary will ensure that all of the 1.8 million uninsured veterans in this country have access to quality, affordable health care. She will restore the Clinton-era policy that opened the VA’s excellent and cost-effective health care system to all veterans who seek to enroll. She will make a long-term commitment to the VA system to ensure it is adequately funded and has the capacity to avoid backlogs and to handle greater enrollments. And she will provide coverage through the American Health Choices Plan to all veterans who choose not to use the VA system.
Ensure All Veterans Receive the Benefits They Have Earned and the Assistance They Need — Right from the Start. As President, Hillary will commit to getting a fair, accurate, and timely decision for every veteran filing a disability claim. She will increase the number of qualified VA evaluators to reduce the backlog of claims. She will provide fast-track training for new claims specialists and expand the Benefits Delivery at Discharge Program to smooth the transition from service to discharge for all those who serve our country
So Taser Sniper,
You are a Hannity supporter too. Well I guess you are afraid to join the military and serve your country like that G*Y coward?
OBAMA`S UNELECTABILITY EXPOSED - REPUBLICANS WANT TO FACE HIM!!!
RJ`s correct…there is a Republican plan to take down Hillary…so they can face Obama the UNELECTABLE…as shown and explained in both RJ`s posts and here…this kind of stuff can`t be posted enough times for ALL Dems to read!
PUBS KNOW THAT Obama won`t win enough of the large Dem. states…and the gen. election because:
http://www.newsmax.com/ruddy/Why_the_GOP_Loves_Obama/2008/02/20/74275.html
A McCain insider stated that Obama’s support — for example, for driver’s licenses for illegals — is worth at least “five percentage points in the election.” Mrs. Clinton was smart enough to back away from that hot-button issue.
But the black voters vote as a bloc for the Dem. candidate already?
What does Obama actually bring to the table for Democrats? It’s not clear. Mrs. Clinton, as her longtime critic Dick Morris likes to point out, would most assuredly energize women voters, especially millions of single moms that have never voted before.
And certain Democrats like to forget this, but Kennedy outflanked Nixon on defense issues, arguing that Nixon was too soft on communism. Obama’s dovish complaints about the Bush administration being too hawkish on terror won’t resonate with middle-of-the-road Independents/voters.
5. Obama will not be able to lay claim to the good economic times of the 1990s that Bill Clinton presided over, as Hillary can.
6. And Obama will be a nightmare for Democrats with swing voters in key states. Take for example the highly influential Cuban-American vote that Bill Clinton won in 1992 and 1996 — and was one of the key reasons George Bush beat Al Gore.
The Cuban vote has been moving into the Democratic column but they will not go for Obama because he has clearly stated he will open up relations with Castro.
Sen. Clinton’s announced Cuba policies take a hard line, which resonates with these voters.
7. And then there are the key Jewish communities in swing states like Florida and Ohio that are already deeply worried about electing Obama to the presidency.
Obama has talked openly about sitting down — without any preconditions — with Iran’s diabolical leader Ahmadinejad, who has referred to Israel as “bacteria” and has said in the past that the Jewish state is a “disgraceful blot” that should be “wiped off the map.”
With the McCain campaign blanketing key markets with TV ads featuring “independent Democrat” Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Obama will be in deep trouble.
8. The Rev. Wright: Need I say More!?
this is what i`m talking about when i say that Obama won`t beat McCain in enough of the large states in the gen. election…when Hillary would…because Obama won`t get enough of her supporters…including me in Ohio…
for ex., just using the Latino vote in the extremely important swing states such as Florida:
According to the latest poll avgs., Hillary`s up 37%, (67- 30), over Sen. McCain among Latino voters in Florida.
Otoh, the polls shows Sen. Obama behind Sen. McCain, among Latino voters, by 7%, (49-42), in Florida.
Florida is just one typical ex.
another ex…in Ohio, Hillary won a very impressive 67 percent of the white women, many single moms, voting in Ohio…Obama simply will NOT get this kind of support from woman in such important key swing states…and many of these voters were voting for the 1st time…some even admitted in exit polling that it was almost as much of an anti-Obama vote as a vote for Hillary…
so he`s not getting that high % of new voters which he thinks he is…in a recent Fox news report, many interviewed at Obama`s entertaining speeches, were actuallyClinton supporters just there for the show!
Hillary might beat McCain.
But the far left wackos want new colors.
Not the same old CLINTON colors.
So they’ll pick Obama.
And McCain will win the Presidency.
if you think Hillary lies, just take a look at ALL OBAMA`S WHOPPERS!…he makes Hillary look like a Saint when it comes to telling the truth…it`s just too bad the media won`t report ALL these LIES!…they`d have a field day and the ratings would probably soar higher than they`ve ever been…looks like no one wins here…all because the media refuses to tell the truth about this guy…they simply want to pick our next Pres…WHAT A SHAME!…what a shame…………
