I served in Vietnam and I don’t hate Senator John McCain as Bob from LA suggests that “everyone who served in nam hates him”! Love or hate John McCain, the truth is McCain does in fact have more foreign policy experience than Barack Hussein Obama, the one term Senator from Illinois. Senator McCain is not an idiot as Bob has stated. McCain is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy as were his father and grandfather. He comes from a long line of naval officers, (Admirals). Senator John McCain has met with foreign leaders and dignitaries, both foe and allies. He is well known in the worldwide foreign policy circuit; not Barack Obama nor Hillary Clinton who attended tea parties with foreign leader’s wives when she was first lady.

We live in extremely troubled times and the threats of radical Islamic fascism is real; not something that has been contrived. It is not a right-wing conspiracy. It is very, very real and these radicals are waging a different type of warfare, (terrorism) and they have established cells around the world and we have nations who claim to be our ally that are harboring these murderous criminals. Barack Hussein Obama does not understand that we do not negotiate with terrorists. Barack thinks in his naive little mind that he will be able to sit down with terrorist leaders and negotiate settlements and peace treaties. This assumption flies in the face of international law. No peace agreement signed by a terrorist leader (cleric) and the United States has any legal binding authority and cannot even be recogized by the United Nations. So, Barack Obama knows absolutely nothing, but, that is understandable because his experience in government is limited.

Barack Hussein Obama served as an Illinois state senator in which he voted 130 times “present”! This means that Barack Obama could not make a decision as to the right position to take on numerous issues effecting the people of the state of Illinois. He was a “community organizer” on the south side of Chicago. Sort of like a white collar cop, intervening in gang-banger activities and introducing young African American youth to midnight basketball games in the city parks. Rather then encourage these young people to go home and do their homework and get up and go to school in the morning, Barack was encouraging them to play basketball into the wee hours of the morning. This was his solution to keeping African American youth out of the gangs and off the streets.

Barack Obama could not get elected Mayor of the City of Chicago or Governor of the State of Illinois if he chose to run for either office. We residents of Illinois have his number and we know who Barack Obama is. But, liberals don’t care, so they voted for this clown in the presidential primary only because he is from Illinois. Big Deal!

There is also the Rev. Wright question! After all, Rev. Wright has been Barack Hussein Obama’s spiritual advisor for over 20 years. So, there are those who will suggest that Wright’s sermons and views about America have had no influence on Barack Hussein Obama. Give me a break! Obama has demonstrated in the Illinois senate that he is not an independent thinker and he is very easily manipulated by those who are anti-American, anti-semitic, and, quite possibly, anti-
Christian.

So, lets not compare Obama and McCain. Obama would not make a pimple on Senator McCain’s rear end when it comes to foreign policy and military affairs. Obama is a left-wing socialist and probably an inexperienced one at that.

I think the “level of exerience” displayed by our present administration in foreign policy speaks for itself. If McCain proposes to stay the course, then the people will decide the outcome in November.

One must credit McCain for his military grit, and clear understanding of military affairs and their role in maintaining world stability. Unlike Bush, for example, who himself had absolutely no record on national security before 9/11 and starting the Iraq war.

Now, while it may be true that US foreign military policy since WWII has been one of military occupation as a means to regional stability, it does not necessarily follow that in our current occupation of Iraq that we, as a nation, should be there at all.

Why? We already have military bases in the region and have had them there for decades. The major reason we continue to have a military presence (by far the largest deployment of US troops in any region of the world) in Iraq is:

1) we destabilized Iraq by invading and conquering it through sheer military might; thereby, destroying the country’s infrastructure, and throwing the general population into a state of chaos (read: breeding ground for terrorists)

2) it would be political suicide for both the Bush administration and the Republican party itself to pull out now, “Mission [clearly not] Accomplished”, as both are so thoroughly invested in winning the war no matter what the cost.

It’s worth noting that the cost of this war has run over a trillion dollars and counting; this fact makes little news really. Shocking given that a trillion dollars could virtually overhaul the entire country, improving the quality of life for all Americans, but then again, taking care of our own citizens obviously must take a back seat to big business and waging war, which are huge money makers for the elite that run the country…

History is not a good argument for Senator McCain to make. The examples he gives are totally irrelevant to the situation at hand. There is no single entity in Iraq with which we can negotiate an agreement or even force a stalemate. Any way you frame it , he is advocating a very long term occupation in a country that will remain hostile, no matter how long we stay there.

Senator McCain’s military experience, honorable as it is, does not translate into expertise with foreign policy. He may have other qualities that he can utilize. I am a widow of a Vietnam veteran who earned a purple heart and silver star. He died from complications of Angent Orange. He was also shot 3 times and and one time thought to be dead.
I’m saying this to say that I am very sensitive to vets and our soldiers overseas now. But the war in Iraq is only part of this country’s problems. McCain may have war experience but he doesn’t have experience to run the US. This seems to be the problem with the Rep. They are so busy trying to rule the world at our country’s expense.
