RNC vs DNC on McCain service tour

Republican National Committee officials are fuming over Howard Dean’s attack on Sen. McCain as a “blatant opportunist” in a statement issued by the Democratic National Committee Chairman Friday morning.

Responding to news of McCain’s scheduled biography tour to highlight his service record next week, Dean said, “Americans want a real leader who offers real solutions, not a blatant opportunist who doesn’t understand the economy and is promising to keep our troops in Iraq for 100 years.”

“I think it’s an assault on Senator McCain’s character,” said RNC spokesman Alex Conant. “It certainly goes beyond the pale of what we expect– even from Chairman Dean.”

The Dean statement read in full: “The American people have been waiting for a president who understands the challenges they face, not another out of touch Bush Republican who promises four more years of the same failed leadership. John McCain can try to reintroduce himself to the country, but he can’t change the fact that he cast aside his principles to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Bush for the last seven years. While we honor McCain’s military service, the fact is Americans want a real leader who offers real solutions, not a blatant opportunist who doesn’t understand the economy and is promising to keep our troops in Iraq for 100 years.”

RNC Deputy Chairman Frank Donatelli responded this afternoon with a statement of his own. “Howard Dean owes John McCain an immediate apology and both Senators Clinton and Obama should unequivocally denounce this disgraceful attack,” Donatelli said.

Conant said the RNC intends to keep the dialogue “respectful,” referring to a memo put out by McCain Campaign Manager Rick Davis earlier this month calling on Republicans to keep the campaign “focused on the issues.”

A good leaders must set a good example…

Before advising democrats not to give GOP candidate a free ride???

DNC LEADERSHIPS must set a good example!!!!

You are not showing a good example to democrats by not doing something to protect those delegates in Michigan and Florida… In a way you are betraying your delegates…
You yourself is allowing Obama a free ride…

You do not have the moral authority to direct by not showing good leadership>>>

Dean is so weird. McCain is doing what a Senator should do along with Senator Lieberman. He cleared his trip ahead with the ethics committee and is paying from campaign funds for anything that even comes close to the line.

I think all of America is getting weary of saying we should vote for either of these Yahoos the Democratic party has offered us because “of a failed Bush presidency.”

I am very grateful to George Bush for keeping me and mine safe these 7 years since 9/11. All wars have their gliches–just now those are paraded on evening news while we eat dinner. There were many failed operations in World War I and World War II but WE WON the WAR!!!

Dean criticizes McCain on the Economy (Dean is hopeless on the same matter by the way–a pot calling the kettle black) but that can easliy be remedied with a Mitt Romney Vice Presidency!!

I can’t wait until Obama wins the nomination. I will cherish the look on Hillary’s face and will cherish all of the worthless comments her supporters will leave.

And then, come general election time, we will see Obama win the Presidency! And again, I will cherish the look on McCain’s face, and all of the worthless comments his supporters will leave!

And even more, I will cherish the fact that as all of those nay-sayers and supporters see the results, they will remember so many of us saying “I TOLD YOU SO!!!”

Hillary and McCain are nothing but steps for Obama to climb on his walk to the Presidency.

I think they both Obama and Clinton should drop out and the Dems should start over. They are both disgusting. I would not trust Clinton anyfurther then I could throw her, and I would that racism would get only worse, since to me it is very apparent that Obama agrees with Wrigth otherwise why did he stay in the church for 20 years listening to him?

Hillary should split the party and go Independent! She owes nothing to the DNC for their underhanded antics in trying to force her out of the race!! The DNC is not supposed to pick the nominee, WE THE PEOPLE are supposed to have that honor and right as citizens of this country and the DNC should be ashamed! Before I vote for BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA, I have two choices; vote for McCain, who may be a good guy and all, but shows that he is woefully out of touch! We don’t want a continuance of the Bush fiasco! I can vote for Nader, but I don’t reaaly like the guy. The only other choice that folks like myself have other than Obama, is to not vote, in protest and be left out of the process!
Let me clear up one thing though; I am not a racist nor am I a typical white person. I love this country and I believe in the system but I can’t support a guy who followed the words and advice of a racist and hateful pastor for 20 some years and now, he says he disavows some of what the pastor says and and other such rot. That is like a white person hanging out at KKK meetings for 20 years and then one day saying they do not actually believe all of the nasty and vile propaganda being spewed. I hate racism in any form! Obama is not a good choice to lead this great nation at any time and it is a shame that the bandwagon mentality allowed for this guy to get where he is without first being looked at. His pretty speeches turned heads and I blame the media for trying to influence the Presidential election with such bias. Hello to the news; report the news, without bias and personal opinions. Most of us are smart enough to comprehend what you are reporting!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you the people are not the final arbiter in a Democrat primary.

The SD system was created specifically to give the smoky back room boys the legal right to decide for you.

Get it? They don’t trust you to make the correct decision for the PARTY. They don’t actually care about you the people. Your sole purpose in life is send money and go to the polls in the general election to elect Democrats so they can control the country (and you).

Dean got the DNC chair because he was such a kickin’ butt fund raiser when he campaigned. He really pioneered the internet fund raising idea along with MoveOn.org.

When he lost, the Slick Willie team gave him the booby prize.

As a Democrat - I am ashamed to be associated with Howard Dean and Barack Obama. While I don’t agree with some of John McCains view, I certainly don’t feel he deserves disrepect from Howard Dean. You are right he is a moran.

Comment by Richard

As a conservative Republican I’d like to find something nice to say about our presumptive nominee, but I can’t so I won’t.Howard Dean is an idiot, but Mccain did say he didn’t know much about the economy, and that he’d keep our troops in Iraq for a hundred years if necessary(which it probably will). As for McCain being a “blatant opportunist”? Nah-just blatantly wrong on just about every issue of importance to conservatives like me.It’s actually quite humorous watching this election unfold without a candidate I can support.I’m just waiting to see how many votes McCain loses by,then add up all the write-in votes for real conservatives and see how close the two totals are,so I can start laughing that proverbial last laugh.

So why isn’t this girl voting for McCain?

The Banshee says shell pull our troops like a cork.

Comment by John

Richard,

McCain never said he would keep troops in Iraq for 100 years. He actually said the region. He said U.S troops would train iraqi pilots in Kuwait.

McCain is quoted as saying he will bring home our troops in honor and it will be up to Iraqis to deal with the insurgency. He will turn areas over to the iraqis in a responsible fashion not chaotic like the dems want.

Richard, please do some research before you jump on dem talking points which are lies.

Obama’s top advisor general mcpeak said we could be there 100 years but you never hear the media talk about that.

McCain never said he didn’t know much about the economy. He said he was strongest on national security.

McCain was chairman of the commerce committee. He knows plenty about the economy.

Some voter who takes a 20 year senate record down to a few distorted comments. McCain is the one who is constantly holding town halls and speaking to the press. Obama and Hillary almost never open themselves up to the voters like McCain.

Richard, you can’t be a conservative republican if you are willing to hand the dems the supreme court for the next generation.

6 justices are over the age of 70. Do you want hillary, obama or mccain picking scalia’s replacement. Who do you want picking stevens and ginsberg’s replacements.

McCain will pick john roberts type judges while hillary will pick william jefferson clinton and ruth bader ginsberg clones while obama will pick liberal extremists to take over scalia’s seat.

The conservatives that stay home will be called the ginsberg republicans for handing the supreme court for the next generation over to the far left.

The next president will pick as many as 6 new justices to stay home shows you want liberal judges.

They don’t call the republican party the stupid party for nothing.

Comment by hugh

Howie Dean saw opportunity when he failed during the primaries and took the job as the DNC chairman. He should team with the clintons ; answer the phone, watch Bill, babysit Chelsea, and polish Hillaries combat boots.

Comment by John

Richard you are no conservative. Any real conservative would be terrified of obama or hillary picking 6 new justices to the supreme court. Any real conservative would be terrified of obama or hillary picking scalia’s replacement.

Richard you are a liberal democrat. You think there is no difference between mccain picking john roberts type judges to replace scalia or hillary appointing william jefferson clinton to replace scalia or obama picking samantha powers to replace scalia.

The conservatives that stay home this election will be handing the supreme court to the liberals for the next 40 years.

6 count them 6 justices are over the age of 70. And at this critical time the Limbaugh nation is saying now is the time to stay home when the future of the supreme court for this generation will be decided in this election.

Stay home this election and the next 10 elections won’t mean anything with the dems having stacked the court with young ultra liberal justices.

Comment by John

McCain never talks about how his son just came back from a seven month tour in Iraq. His 19 year old son passed up going to college to join the marines. McCain refuses to use that for political gain unlike Jim Webb who went around with his son’s boots.

McCain has another son in the navy academy. McCain’s family has a history of service while dean dodged the draft because of a bad back but was fine enough to be a ski instructor in aspen for the next year.

McCain stands for honor, integrity, service for his country everything that dean can’t stand.

Comment by John Son

I believe most Americans know what issues we face as a nation as we try to decide which candidate(s) will best resolve them. We see in John McCain’s life, past and present a devotion to serve his country. Anyone who knows Senator McCain will tell you that he has passion for what he believes in and a constant drive to serve his country to the best of his abilities with sincerity, truthfulness, and dedication.

I remember seeing John on the Forrestall the morning of the flight deck fire, he was really beat up, but after some medical treatment he was transferred to the Enterprize and joined up with an attack squadron and that same day launched off in a A6A attack aircraft to provide close ground air support for our troops in Viet Nam. That same day his aircraft was shot down and he was taken prisoner.

Most Americans are aware of the courageous service John provided as a naval aviator and POW . But few can fully appreciate how bad the egregious hospitality of the Hanoi Hilton really was .His main concerns were for other POWs’ life threatening conditions and how he could help them is spite of the injuries he had received prior to and during his confinement.
Our convictions about John’s character were born in the crucible of adversity. We have witnessed his courage, integrity, character and intellect. We know and greatly respect his sense of honor and his tenacity in the face of grave danger and prolonged hardship(s). These qualities, combined with his life experiences, make John ready for the enormous challenges facing the leader of our country. No one — no one – has a greater knowledge of what war is really like or more qualified to be president, to lead our country and protect our nation. Some pretend to know him or deride his physical short comings but do nor know his physical strengths, his love of country and his commitment to serve it. He has been severely tested, and we have witnessed him under pressure. We trust his judgment and his ability to surround himself with our countries best advisors to lead our country without the BS to lead his beloved country and countrymen.
.We could do a whole lot worse than vote for John Mc Cain as our next president of the United States for every man, woman and child in our country regardless of their political affiliation. In John’s administration there are no Democrats or Republicans only Americans.

God Speed John Mc Cain

This man has the charisma of a turnip. Do we really need George Bush III for another 8 years, I think not. As for Hillary she feels it is her birthright to be president even though most of her party is not behind her anymore. I find it dumbfounding that she continues to tear the party apart because she can’t face the math, even the Huckster had to come to terms with that. She is behind in all polls, total votes, pledged delegates, and any measure that you can use to determine an election. Yet she pushes on and attacks the one hope we have to win the White House.

He is correct. The government is not responsible for the many people who mortgaged beyond their ability to pay. These make up the vast majority of foreclosures.

On the other hand, the government did relax the lending rules. Most of that action took place under the firm hand of….Slick Willie.

But, I will agree. I think it is the job of the government to go after the lenders who broke the law, the brokers who lured poor people into bad loans and scam loans.

So far, there has been a great turn out for BO. Much of it has been energized by the student and youth vote. It is a good thing to watch.

Now, as it becomes obvious that BO is not a squeaky clean messiah, attitudes are changing a bit. South Carolina and PA will tell us a lot about that trend.

As for conservatism dying, I think not. Don’t let the primary numbers mislead you.

Which is 65% of home lenders. Ameriquest did this by the way of balloon payments. With hidden details and fees and costs. Unconceivable to not help these people. The economy plans that have been laid down in the last 8 years and some of Clintons have allowed businesses to move over seas shut down operations and least not forget the unemployment rate. Menial jobs will not put food on peoples tables and allow for a descent living. That is why Bush’s tax for the wealthy and reaganomics (trickle down) do not work. Ill also say that Bill’s NAFTA is responsible for some of what is going on which is why i refuse to allow him anywhere near the White House with my vote.

I also don’t incourage people to vote for McCain on pure patriotism. I served 2 tours of duty in Bosnia and Afghanistan. John McCain was an irresponsible pilot and crashed 5 planes, the last one being the one he became POW. But before that he killed several hundred US servicemen on board the aircraft carrier that he crashed landed on. You should not hold someone as a patriot just because they were a POW. Character issues on McCain will come into play during a general election so far it has just slid off of him like water. Did I mention he cannot even raise more than $10 million a month for his campaign.

But at the same time Google John McCain and his service record, not as impeccable as people will lead you to believe.
———————————-

You apparently don’t do a lot of research. Exactly how many residential mortgages are in foreclosure? Do you know? Less than 1/2 of 1 percent. About 60% higher than normal.

The reason our companies are moving overseas has to do with income taxes and lack of tariff against China and company, not NAFTA.

We have the second highest corporate income tax in the world. Of course the companies are fleeing. We are trying to compete against countries that pay $ per day instead of $ per hour.

Do you know where the Bush tax cuts begin? Do you know what BO thinks is “rich’? BO’s repeal of the Bush tax cuts mean that a family earning 31,000 will have to pay more taxes. I’m not sure if I should be angry at the increase or grateful to BO for revealing to me that I am RICH! I never knew.

It is fun to watch enthusiasm in voters, partly due to the fact of the last 20 years of same ol same ol.
I have no biased opinion I do my own research. Sen. Obama is not squeaky clean by any mean, however neither are any of the other candidates. Google Hillary and Chinese money. But at the same time Google John McCain and his service record, not as impeccable as people will lead you to believe. Barrack has distanced himself completely from his pastor or he would not have my vote either.
—————————-

I’m a tad older than you, so I am probably more aware of the Banshee’s record than you are.

For McCain, if you are referencing the charges that he collaborated, I suggest you read a little about Colonel Leo Thorsness, USAF (Ret.), Medal of Honor.

He is a POW who tried very hard to get the collaborators prosecuted after the war. Very hard. He has also publicly endorsed McCain. I can assure you, if Thorness has endorsed, it means he has done the research and that McCain is spotless.

Finally, if you think BO is done with Wright, you may be right. We know from his own admissions that BO had a pretty clear idea what was going on in the church. We know he sat through a lot of those sermons. The real question is, why did he stay? You need to ask yourself. Why did he subject his little girls to that?

THE REALITY
Hillary Clinton wins both Texas and Ohio on March 4th – and she wins Ohio by double digits

we don,t need racist like obama

Comment by SILLY

THE PUNDITS
Despite Hillary Clinton’s big victories on March 4th, “the math” works decisively against her and the race is essentially over
THE REALITY
The math is simple: neither candidate has reached the number of delegates required to
secure the nomination and either candidate can win

keep it up hillary

they are just scared because obama is loosing in numbers

Comment by SILLY

THE PUNDITS
Barack Obama is substantially ahead in the pledged delegate count; pledged delegates are the only measure of success; therefore the race is essentially over
THE REALITY
The candidates are within fractions of one another on delegates; Barack Obama needs super delegates to win; and a marginal pledged delegate lead does not determine the outcome

you are a fighter hillary

kep fighting for us

Comment by SILLY

THE PUNDITS
Barack Obama is substantially ahead in the popular vote; Florida and Michigan don’t count; therefore the race is essentially over
THE REALITY
The popular vote is virtually tied; half of Barack Obama’s narrow vote advantage is from his home state; and his lead excludes Florida and Michigan

yeah if they don,y count our votes ,we will vote for mccain

Comment by SILLY

THE PUNDITS
Once the remaining states vote, Barack Obama will be substantially ahead in delegates and votes and the race will be over
THE REALITY
The race is a dead heat now and no one knows where things will end up after millions of remaining voters in the upcoming states make their choice

Comment by SILLY

THE PUNDITS
Hillary Clinton’s situation is dire; her campaign is struggling; her supporters are disillusioned and desperate
THE REALITY
Hillary Clinton and her supporters are calm, confident, and focused heading into the key
state of PA, where she is running strong

all this man biased media

and cnn,,msnbc,,ignore all that

Comment by SILLY

THE PUNDITS
Hillary Clinton’s campaign lacks significant grassroots energy; only one candidate has mobilized supporters to take action for the campaign
THE REALITY
Hillary Clinton’s supporters across America have written letters, blogged, donated tens of millions of dollars, volunteered millions of hours and made millions of calls

Comment by SILLY

THE PUNDITS
There is a loud and growing chorus of voices asking Hillary Clinton to withdraw from the race
THE REALITY
Precisely the same number of voters (22%) think Barack Obama should drop out of the
race as Hillary Clinton
