Obama Slams Clinton and McCain
Greensboro, NC—
Barack Obama returned to the trail today after vacationing in the Virgin Islands with his family. At a town hall, he went after both his Democratic and Republican rivals slamming Hillary Clinton for taking donations from lobbyists and John McCain on his economic policy.
Obama called Clinton “smart” and “capable,” but quickly dug into her over lobbyist money:
“She said awhile back that she didn’t think that lobbyists aren’t a problem–she said you know they represent real people. Well, they don’t represent you,” Obama said, “When she takes more money from lobbyists and special interests than any candidate including John McCain that shows that she doesn’t have a sense that we have got to change how business is done in Washington.”
Obama then attacked McCain on his economic plan saying “he offered not one policy, not one idea” in his speech yesterday on the current housing crisis. Obama claimed that McCain wants to “just sit back” while people are “losing their homes” and compared the presumptive Republican nominee to President Bush:
“Now we’ve been down this road before. It’s the road George Bush has taken for the last eight years. It’s the idea that the government has no rule at all in solving the challenges facing working families. That all we can do is hand out tax breaks to the wealthiest people and let the chips fall where they may. George Bush called this the ownership society but what he really meant is you’re on your own society. If you lose your jobs your on your own. If you’re a child in poverty pull yourself up by your bootstraps you’re on your own. If you were lured in by deceptive mortgage practices you’re on your own,” Obama said. “John McCain apparently wants to continue this, while the rest of America is struggling with rising tuition, skyrocketing healthcare costs, plant closings, failing schools your on your own. Well we can’t afford another four years of Bush economics.”
The McCain campaign quickly responded to Obama’s criticisms, “Senator Obama’s blatant mischaracterizations aren’t the new politics he’s promised America, they’re the old attack and smear tactics that Americans are tired of. Barack Obama’s diagnosis for our housing market is clearly that Barack Obama knows best — raise taxes on hardworking Americans and give government a prescription to spend. John McCain has called for an immediate and balanced approach to provide transparency and accountability in an effort to help homeowners who are hurting, while Barack Obama has made a $10 billion election-year promise that is sure to raise taxes and handcuff an already struggling economy.”
During the question and answer period a student at a Baptist college asked Obama about his relationship with Jesus Christ. He brought up the controversy surrounding his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright and said his church service at the Trinity United Church of Christ is like many other services and that it is “welcoming.” He again condemned Wright’s more extreme comments, but did defend him:
“I do have to remind people though this is somebody who was preaching three sermons at least a week for 30 years and got boiled down and found five or six of his most offensive statements and boiled that down to…half minute sound clip and just played it over and over again partly because it spoke to some of the racial divisions that we have in this country and tapped into those divisions. “
The Democratic frontrunner said that he hopes people don’t get “distracted” by the Wright controversy and instead focus on issues facing the country, “If every time somebody somewhere says something stupid that everybody gets up in arms and we forget about the war in Iraq or the economy or we forget about things that are going to make a difference in our children’s’ lives I don’t want that kind of politics. I want the politics that gets stuff done,” Obama said to cheers.

I fought in Iraq in the All Americans 82nd Airborne and join the now legions of my comrades opposed to the war which has cost 4000+ of my comrades in arms their lives and maimed another 25,000+. How much does a trillion and counting cost each American family? I ask any citizen who doubts the price of this war to visit the nearest Veterans hospital to them. The one I visit for therapy has a plaque on it that states The price of freedom is clearly evident here. The price for Iraq is way too high for a war which we should not be in. No WMD, No ties to Al Qaeda Etc. Etc. I pray that our country is really prepared to show courage and turn the page away from the dismal George W. cowboy with no guts or sense years and put our great nation on a better path.

This 20 year veteran takes offense at Senator Clinton’s deliberate attempt to get mileage out of being in combat. Tonight we are seeing more “mistatements” being exposed. She was not the first First Lady since ER — Mrs. Nixon was.
This is thoroughly demeaning and insensitive to the thousands of service members who deploy, and the families left at home. Unlike Senator Clinton, those service members don’t get to take their only child with them to combat — nor would they want to.
She was speaking to me and thousands of active, Reserve, Guard, and retired military personnel and seeking to get our sympathy. I hope people see her self-aggrandizement on this subject, as others, for what it is — shallow pandering to a public she thinks uninformed, lack intelligence, and lacks the wit to see through her charade.
You might get away with claiming sleep deprivation (a defense unavailable to Soldiers who accidentally injure Iraqis during intense combat situations) once, but not four or five time.

I commend you for your service to our country. I support our troops, but am not in favor of this war. I live one block for Walter Reed Hospital and see the wounded service men daily. It anger me that so many young men and women have lost their lives, lost limbs, lost their minds, and yet people want to elect someone that wants to continue a war so that more of our young people will die or be permanently injured. Like 4000 deaths isn’t enough! I have several friends who have lost love ones in this war. They say they could never vote for McCain. The memory of the dead loved ones will not allow. I do not bash McCain of his supporters. I respect their choice.

Hillary Clinton has been out manned, out gunned, and out spent 2 and 3 to 1. Yet Obama has only been able to manage a very tenuous, and questionable tie with Hillary Clinton.

Frustrated with the lies that Bush and Co feed the world, many people would easily believe in more lies. Even though America didnt commit those crimes, America will be condemned for people like Bush were never honest. With great power comes great responsibility. The consequences of its irresponsibilty are too huge. Thousands of innocent did indeed die in Iraq for Bush ineptness.

It will smack of White hypocrisy to deny at the very least that - back in Obama’s Grandmother’s day, a typical white woman subscribed to typical derogatory racial stereotypes associated with Black people.
The whitest of the white RedNecks today who constitute the bulk of Republicans will nevertheless be hypocrites even now, if they deny they harbor some of the same stereotypes that Obama’s grandmother had.

• She opposed NAFTA at the time.
• She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.
• She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.
• She played a role in the ’90s economic recovery.
• The billing records showed up on their own.
• She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke.
• She was always a Yankees fan.
• She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons).

With a record like that, is it any wonder that we suspect her of being less than honest and straightforward?

He obtained three commendations for his service from President Lynden Johnson. Rev Wright was a patriot, back in the time when Martin Luther King gave his “I have a dream speech”.

I saw this entire speech Live on the local Cable News Channel. It was filmed from the front, and clearly presented. The heavily edited clips here were cut in such a way as to completely change the meaning of his responses. Why all the film of his walking, drinking water & crowd noise. Yet the actual comments were markedly edited,but presented as continuous.
For example. the question about student aid was explained in a great deal of detail with multiple separate points about the reasons that in state students pay lower tuition. He explained in detail about how his plans would help all students, but that individual states would make their own decisions. The part about prisons was much later in the discussion but cut to make it appear that he thought that states were only spending money on prisons instead.
I hope that the entire, unedited text of his speech & discussion will be available elsewhere. It certainly won’t be presented here
So glad someone finally called out Mr. Obama on what his socialist programs will cost regular Americans. It’s about time.
And no one should try to convince themselves that ending the Iraq war (which isn’t happening no matter who wins and they all know it. Only McCain is being honest about it) and the Bush tax cuts will fill the coffers (as for who the Dems think are “rich” in terms of tax breaks take a look at the income guidelines in the most recent legislative efforts on tax breaks. Approx. 31k (single) and aprrox. 65k (married)? Give me a break!)
The money was never THERE. It was all done on credit.
And I thought Mr. Obama was above negative campaign tactics.
Why doesn’t he just promote the positives of his own programs?

At this point in time, I am highly displeased with all 3 of our current nominees for President of the
U.S. Hillary Clinton is for The Clintons and has no loyalty to this Country or to we the people. She
would sell Bill out if she though that would get her the presidency. She has no clue about what makes America great, nor does she know the least little thing about being her Commander in Chief!
The Clintons have always tried to abolish our military. Bill managed to bring shame and dishonor to the White House and his wife hasn’t even gotten there and is a disgrace to America. I believe that
the security forces assigned to her and Bill should be withdrawn. She is an enemy to the American
people. Did you know that those who guard her & Bill are made to pay them rent to stay on their
property in New York? If she becomes President…Armagedon will be unleashed.
Obama, is handsome, educated, bright, but a deceiver! He has been reported to have accepted a
donoation from the very terrorists who have sworn to take us down. Those who have sworn to destroy
us because we are a Christian nation and therefore, infidels. He is a snake in the grass…a viper just
waiting to strike. I don’t care for McCain because he has been a ‘fence post sitter’ or committed
treason by bouncing from party to party.On the other hand, he has served his country and knows
what it means to have his freedom snateched away. He would know how to work with our military…
Something tells me we have not seen the true nature of any of these candidates…AND that is what
is truly frightening! But I intend to stay true to my beliefs.
