McCain returns fire on Obama economic criticism

Sen. McCain hit back at Obama after the IL Democrat attacked the mortgage plan he announced yesterday.

Speaking to the press aboard his plane Wednesday during a flight to Monterey, CA, he said, “I know that Senator Obama wants to raise taxes. He’s a - If he wants to do that, fine, but I think that’s the worst thing that we can do to the American people right now in this very difficult economic challenges. But I’ll do whatever’s necessary to help the homeowner and that legitimate homeowner and we may have to do more, but to raise taxes as Senator Obama wants to do or some kind of massive bail out that is a needless expenditure of taxpayer’s dollars is something that I don’t support. This is sort of in a way the classic contrast between a far left, liberal Democrat and a conservative republican. Senator Obama believes that the government should do everything, I believe that the government should do as little as possible.”

Obama girl has just returned from a meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, president Bush, Iraqi leaders and Simon from American Idol. She apparently has brokered a peace agreement with all parties including Shiite militias, Sunnis, Kurds, Al qaeda, and will soon be giving a speech at Hooters in Atlanta Ga.. Stay tuned for further details. :)

Keep drawing that contrast John! Obama wants to help and he wants to tax the crap out of them to do it. Instead of voting for president we should vote on this one issue. Here is the proposed ballot language, “Would you like to pay significantly higher taxes for the next four years to allow the government to bail out Fortune 500 lending instutitions and the millions of Americans who took out loans they knew they couldn’t afford?” If you answer “No” you are voting for McCain. If you answer “Yes” you are voting for Obama or Clinton. How would you vote?

“The government should do as little as possible?” LOL! Who is this clown? Raising taxes on people who are making $200,000 and up is not a problem. If those people are struggling, then they are just plain dumb. Obama is not planning to raise taxes on working class and middle class Americans, as McCain says here. He has been very clear about this. McCain needs to either stop lieing, or at least get his facts straight before he opens his mouth. Especially since he is happy to have graduated 3rd from the bottom of his Naval Academy class, and has openly stated he doesn’t know economics. The government should try to help solve the problems of the public, where it can. That is part of its job. That doesn’t mean every problem is a problem government can solve, but to say it should do as little as possible implies that we should let our problems fester.

And to answer your question Haley, I’ll vote for the person who represents the everyday hardworking American, rather than the corporation. Not everyone understands the ins and outs of the contracts they end up in, nor can they always afford the legal counsel to help them understand this stuff when they make these transactions. I am a member of two bars and I do corporate legal work. One thing that the bar always reminds lawyers of when we are sworn in, is that more than 80% of the public can not afford adequate legal counsel. Secondly, having done legal work for multiple corporate giants in healthcare, telecommunications, and other areas, I can tell you that these entities go out of their way to draft things in a way that is not only self serving, but often times very harmful to the public. That said, the people are the ones who make up America, not the corporations. They can come and go, but the citizens live in this country through thick and thin. Ordinary people can not stand up to the hard times like a corporation can. That is why it is important to take care of the public. The corporations are so busy making sure jobs go anywhere but to American citizens anyway. If you’re looking for an example of unpatriotic, that is definitely it.

Haley Rodman Clemson ,

The promises you just listed from Senator Obama are either more rhetoric like the NAFTA situation or part of the 750 billion extra dollars of spending annually he has projected. Of course he has already stated he would renew the taxes on the rich that John speaks of for a total of 150 billion so I guess we all know where the other 600 billion come from right? Yes, out of our pockets in either direct taxes or hidden such as a fuels import tax. Let’s hope it’s just rhetoric or best of all that he is not running come November.

Altered judgement and Narcissism spells Disaster

As Obama tries to suggest everyone in the middle is all wet for any reason I offer the following as we move in somewhat of a different direction from his odd bed-fellows.

As I stand back from the Obama/Wright association and issues leading to Obama’s “Lincoln at Gettysburg address”‘ a speech determined by all on the left media/press to he equal to Lincoln, causes me to pause to believe that Obama knew all along that his relationship would be discovered. He had been advised by Sharpton that this was known and he (Wright) would be a “problem” if he did pull away from him….something Obama elected not to do to the level likely to the level recommended by Sharpton. Soon after this issue arose Obama came out with this “speech on race” so rapidly suggesting that it was already in the can or created by intense speech writers. When has Obama ever in his congressional career so rapidly created a presentation which was viewed similar to Lincoln, likely a version was already available.

To assume that Obama was “braindead” or simply “clueless” to the real implications of Wright’s inflammatory language on his political aspirations is very likely far reaching given his education and his wife’s oversight…I believe both are very politically savee. Additionally, given his “handlers” it is doubtful they would not have a backup plan already to go….thus the speech to divert attention and blame to everyone else….not him or Wright…the blame game. Of course, did I not mention dropping the race issue on all in the USA.

This sort of deliberate character would as seen create the “judgement issue” and the concern that his was faulty,,,but this assumes that we are all on the same page for what judgement represents and this is where our concept of right and wrong are not that of Obama. I believe that Obama sense of reality is different from most others on this forum…apples to oranges. This type of whose fault is it rests with a belief the Obama represents the appearance of a true narsacist.

With the apparent significant difference between values whether it is the flag, judgement and security the operative distinction which is an ugly truth…one of deceite, purposeful manipulation of voters and bewitching the nation under the guise of “change” and “togetherness”. Whether this manipulation is at the hands of Obama or his handlers remains to be seen, however, it is readily apparent that a false hope is being generated with the blame of everything on the racial divide. Obama represents more of a soft shoe Wright…how to blame your enemies and not view yourself in the mirror.

Some may say that Obama is just “full of himself” but given how his campaign has advanced with the obtaining “rock star status” suggests how well his trained experienced handlers have push an agenda on generalities without substance. There is no doubt that even Bill and Hilliary were surprised by the ability to hoodwink the voters and “nice speeches”. The continued isolation of Obama from the non-left “free press” is a further reflection of the desire to mislead.

Given the conscious attempt to paint himself as the “savior of the nation” not only to the voters and DNC leadership coupled with narcissism demonstrates a very troubled character. History is replete with examples of a preceived “chosen one” or “I will show you the way” political figure who lead their nations into destruction after they were voted in by these deceived citizens. This I fear is what Obama and his thought process represents……a personage of false truths and an extreme hazard to our nation. Obama and his “handlers” to include the left wing media are creating a remarkable cover-up which would have been rejected by our founders. I HOPE THAT THE VOTERS SEE OBAMA FOR WHAT HE REPRESENTS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE

Leaning towards Hillary,

Certainly they do but is it really fair to tax them more than any other bracket just because they are successful? Further, if you do tax them more, isn’t it likely they will adjust to ensure they don’t really lose anything , rather just push it down to whatever level necessary. For instance, if I make 1 million dollars in income per year and you decide to raise my taxes by 15%, then what’s to stop me from letting my three shift workers go who make $50,000 a piece to compensate?

What does Obma know about anything but hatred..he has no time for what really matters in our proud country

Comment by DB

My point Leaning towards Hillary is this. It’s one thing to say you’re going to tax the upper income people but you have to understand it has consequences. The upper income folks worked hard for what they have and generally speaking are the life blood of our economy. If we go after them they will adjust and it’s the rest of us that will pay. That 15% could come in the way of lost jobs, reduced salaries, higher prices, etc. So we must really consider what it may mean. Just imagine if in fact one of the dems did get into office and had a democratic house and Senate. The taxes they propose would be approved and before you know it we’d not only have less good paying jobs but higher prices to boot.

Now, before one of you attack and say that President Clinton created all these jobs, understand that when you eliminate the higher income wage earners, then the lower wage jobs can be formed. What? The three shift worker jobs I spoke of earlier, are now part time employees making $30,000 without benefits.

Bottom line, we better be careful for what we ask for otherwise we might just get it.

Seems to be humor day, so here’s my contribution :)

Top Ten Signs You’re a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and “dehumanized” when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the “atrocities” attributed to Allah, but you don’t even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in “Exodus” and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in “Joshua” including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs — though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most “tolerant” and “loving.”

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in “tongues” may be all the evidence you need to “prove” Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a “high success rate” when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

I know that it is very easy to buy into the spin the media has provided. But in our hearts we know Hillary, we believe in her and we believe that she can make a positive difference for this country.

I was adopted by a widowed white woman when I was 9 (I am black), everyone told her she can’t adopt, she was too old, widowed and poor. She had no business adopting 5 children no matter how much they needed a home. But she did it anyway against all of the odds. My mother worked well into her 70’s to support her family. She raised each one of us including my sister who is afflicted with down syndrome. She told me to remember that no matter how many people tell you that you can’t, YOU CAN. Do not give up on the things you believe in. My mother has since passed away but she lives on through each of us. I will always know that “one woman can”.

I suppose I am a bit biased because I see the strength of my mother in Hillary. She never gives up. She has been told she can’t since day one and here she is folks. She has weathered harsher storms than this. And she will press on.

We can make a stand today by donating, by calling, by talking to your neighbors and sharing your personal stories of why you believe in Hillary.

WE WILL NOT BE TOLD WE CAN’T. WE HAVE A VOICE THAT WILL NOT BE SILENCED.

Further, while the polls suggest the two candidates Hillary and Barack are virtually tied, I think Hillary with win big in PA (70%/30%). Not sure what it will mean for her in the end, as I believe the superdelegates will go to Barack, but could very well mean she runs as an Independent where she could possibly become the first Independent to get more votes then a major party candidate (Barack).

OH SO U R KOOLAID DRINKER OF OBAMA CULT

AND HILLARY WILL NOT BE RUNNING INDEPENEDENT

BILL WAS GOV OR ARKANSAS FOR 12 YRS AND THEN 8 YRS AS PRESIDENT AS DEMOCRAT ,,,,,HILLARY HAS BEEN DEMOCRAT FOR ALMOST 30YRS,,,,,

SHE WILL FIGHT FOR SURE BUT SHE WILL ALWAYS BE A DEMOCRAT ,,THE KIND OF DEMOCRAT WHO EVEN GOT A VISIT FROM OBAMA FOR ADVICE WHEN HE BECAME SENATOR ,,,,,,,,

AND OH YEAH ,,,GOOD LUCK WITH UR ANTI AMERICAN CULT AND YOUTUBE IDIOTIC POLITICE WITH MUSIC VIDEOS OF SOME STUPID HO…….

Typical White Person,

Please don’t use my name. I am a conservative and while I will look at all candidates thoroughly, I have chosen McCain as the best candidate still running.

Besides, you have a name and are a strong supporter. Debate the issues honestly and you never know what your candidate might achieve.

Bob,

I’d with you on that one. We have two other candidates available and I WOULD NEVER take that chance.

Does anyone have the registered Democrat total vote for Hillary? The info I saw was 52% for Hillary and 48% for BO including votes in Florida and Michigan(they were giving BO all of the uncommitted votes, funny) The others that pushed up OB’s numbers were Independents and Republicans. She still was within 97,000 votes including MI and FL.
Who are these people that think Hillary should quit? Would they if the difference was 97,000?

Way to Go Hillary!

Over 20 years of Hillary Clinton’s tax returns have been previously released, hundreds of thousands of pages of records from her time in White House and countless other documents detailing her time in public life. Sen. Obama’s record is far more opaque.

Sen. Obama has not released any records from his time in the state senate:

Obama: ‘I don’t have, I don’t maintain a file of eight years of work in the state Senate because I didn’t have the resources available to maintain those kinds of records.’ He added, ‘It could have been thrown out. I haven’t been in the state Senate now for quite some time.’ [CBS, 11/14/07]
Obama: ‘I had one staff person that was what was allocated. I don’t have archivists in the state Senate. I don’t have the Barack Obama state Senate library available to me, so we had a bunch of file cabinets. I do not have a whole bunch of records from those years.’ [Chicago Sun Times, 11/10/07]

Sen. Obama touts his new decision to disclose his U.S. Senate earmarks but he refuses to release all earmarks from his time in the state senate:

Obama has been silent on non-federal earmarks he secured while serving in State Senate. “Sen. Barack Obama is open about the pet projects he’s tucked into federal legislation, but it’s a different story when it comes to the extra spending he added to state budgets while serving in the Illinois Legislature…. When Obama served in the state Legislature, from 1997 until late 2004, it was routine for money to be added to the annual budget for lawmakers to dole out. In most years, this was done without any public record of which legislator was sponsoring which grant, leaving no way to tell how Obama used his share of the money. [AP, 3/13/08]

Sen. Obama will not release the name of the broker who managed his controversial ’semi-blind’ trust:

Obama refuses to name the UBS broker that purchased the stocks in his ‘quasi-blind’ trust. “Obama had about $100,000 he wanted to invest in 2005. The money was a portion of the $1.2 million he got from a book contract. He said Wednesday he decided the $100,000 could be put into something “more high risk” and asked a friend to recommend a stock broker. That friend was donor George W. Haywood, who held what the New York Times called “major” positions in the two stocks Obama ended up owning, Skyterra and AVI BioPharma…. Obama declined to name the UBS broker.” [Sweet column, Chicago Sun-Times, 3/8/07]
