Obama Camp Looks Forward

The Obama camp says it netted more pledged delegates by winning yesterday’s Mississippi primary than Hillary Clinton got by winning the big contests in Texas and Ohio. The Obama campaign has downplayed Clinton’s wins in these so-called “big states” - stressing the path to the nomination comes down to simple math.

Obama has done well by handily winning in states like Georgia and Mississippi - and by remaining competitive in the big states that Clinton has won.  It’s a blueprint that has Obama up in the pledged delegate count - 1411 to Clinton’s 1250 (according to the Obama campaign).

But with 10 contests left and 566 pledged delegates to be awarded, no candidate can reach the 2,025 needed to secure the nomination, which would throw the nomination to the superdelegates.

Of course, Florida and Michigan’s contests have not been resolved by the DNC and their combined 313 pledged delegates are yet to be awarded. The Obama campaign has said it will not accept the results based on the January contest results, as Obama’s name was not on the ballot in Michigan, and he did not campaign in the Sunshine State.

Today Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said caucuses were an option as were new primaries, but cautioned the latter method would be expensive. He has “deep concerns” with a mail-in revote, saying “To try to put to something that took the state of Oregon 10 years to get comfortable with at the statewide level is problematic.”

So what’s the best option? “It seems that the easiest solution here would be some kind of fair seating of the delegations that is not reflective of this contest in January, that allows these states to participate in Denver, but does not advantage Sen Clinton unfairly,” Plouffe said. It’s unclear how this seating would be decided.

Just to be sure voters in Michigan and Florida don’t equate Clinton’s concern for the states’ delegates with making sure their voices are heard in this nomination process, Plouffe noted, “We do not think the Clinton campaign’s approach here is based on benevolence towards Florida and Michigan - it’s based on increasingly desperate, self serving stretching for whatever they think might help them secure the nomination.”

Pennsylvania is widely considered the next (and third) “Super Tuesday” coming up on April 22nd, but the Obama campaign today said Clinton will likely win the state. “They should win by a healthy margin, given where they start,” Plouffe said. “We will campaign hard there, we will try to get as many votes and delegates as we can, but our campaign will not be defined by Pennsylvania. We will be campaigning in all the rest of the states.”

Obama will campaign this weekend in Indiana, and will focus time and energy in North Carolina as well the other upcoming states, while the Clinton campaign focuses on Pennsylvania. Should the nomination come down to supedelegates, the Obama campaign will argue he is the candidate with more pledged delegates, more states, and more of the nation’s popular vote.

Senator Obama neglects to say that Hillary Clinton did not campaign in Florida either. In that regard thay are on equal footing. There were some national ads that ran in some markets for Senator Obama. In that regard he actually had a better chance of winning, and he did not. As far as the Michigan vote goes, he was not on the ballot and that vote should not be counted as it stands.

LOOK FORWARD TO THIS.

I’ll vote against Barack in Florida in November. When he loses he can blame Hillary or white people in general. I’ll vote for Hillary in 2012.

The liberal democrats will destroy their own party in the quest for personal power. The solemn duties of the presidency and the interests of the country aren’t on their scopes.

I’ll be laughing all the way through election night - and beyond.

If Obama’s looking foward, why is he taking us backwards. His politics have finally caught up with him. A little late I’ll admit but not too late to not elect him. He’s slippery but not slippery enough to fool the Hillary supporters. He managed to spin every move she’s made but his work hasn’t gone unnoticed.

The dispicable SPITTING Chris Matthews of MSNBC and his boss Chuck Todd were gushing over Obama last night, including describing the RED Phone ad as a racist attack.

I’m with Frodo! It’s Hillary in 2012.

This time the Hillary supporter will be laughing with you. You’ll be laughing out of the other side of your mouth in 2012 though.

The solution to Florida and Michigan debacle. I had been on the side that there should be a revote but have reconsidered. I think it would be wrong to do a do over because Edwards is no longer on the ticket who knows maybe he would have picked up some delegates. Actually this is what I think should be done. Demand immediately the resignation of Howard Dean and the entire DNC committee (evidently they don’t really care about the voters), force Hillary and Obama to come to Florida and Michigan for a town hall meeting with just the average joes of the states (not their in state political flunkys). Question them on why they chose to agree to punishing these two states by not counting your votes or seating your delegates. Do not let them off the hook ask what they were thinking by trying to disenfranchise you but now wanting to come up with a plan to seat you when they are afraid of a backlash. Do not make it easy on them, make them win your vote this fall.

Comment by Moe Howard

Utah, I totally agree. If there is a do-over, it has to be as if it were from day one, both states, all the candidates must be on the ballots. Get rid of the DNC “leadership”, they have led the party into disaster.

The supportes of both Obama and Clinton are tearing each other apart on nonsensical things, race, name calling, lies, and half truthes because both their candidates actually agree on the issues. So since they have nothing to set them apart as far as issues the circus comes to town.

Comment by Utah Independent

Moe…I do not think there should be a do over. I also do not think any one should be seated. Howard Dean, National DNC, State DNC, and all Democratic Candidates agreed to not seat the delegates. Too bad for them They should have to live with the consequences. Maybe they judgement was bad but decision they made live with the consequences. Talk about flip flop.

People are now beginning to see the Real Barrack Obama!

He is a wimp and his bunch of supporters are all cry babies… How much more if they will response to the critisisms and attack of Chavez, Castro, other Dictators and Communist Leaders around the world??? How will they handle them??? I wonder??

The real reason why the Obama camp is so opposed to any solutions to find ways to resolve and seat the delegates from MI and FL is because they’re so afraid that it will end their dreams…and that’s a fact. When these delegates are seated - it will crushed! their lead and senator Clinton will eventually win the nomination as the standard bearer of the DNC Party… (which is best for the party)…

Even Howard Dean is hesitant to act on this problem and find ways as party chairman because he is sending feelers to the Obama camp that he is available to be called as VP if Obama won.

Btw - Obama should be fair for reporting through media that all candidates did not campaign in Florida and - ALTHOUGH HE DID NOT CAMPAIGN IN PERSON IN FLORIDA HE HAS A CAMPAIGN AD RUNNING ALL DAY - ALL OVER FLORIDA TELEVISIONS WHICH GAVE HIM MUCH MORE
ADVANTAGE THAN SENATOR CLINTON WHO HAS NO AD IN TELEVISION.

Rev. Al Sharpton should be telling his listeners about this TELIVISION AD by OBAMA in FLORIDA.
and Senator Clinton has none. WHICH GAVE OBAMA MUCH MORE ADVANTAGE OVER HER.

YET THE FLORIDIANS VOTED FAVORING SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON…

The Obama camp are trying to spin this without reporting this important facts in their favor…

You CHEATED BY HAVING THE AD and yet people did not voted for you… THAT’S A FACT!!!

SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT IN ‘08…

Clinton, Obama and McCain are 3 tax-and-spend-forever candidates. McCain has the added burden of knowing nothing about how and why the economy works. His primary interest is in continued sacrifice of american lives in useless and unconstitutional foreign military adventures, so he’s the worst possible choice as POTUS. If his supporters are so blind that they will not realize this, then we’re all the worse off for it. Clinton represents the lowest kind of political lifeform yet seen in an american election. Fortunately, she cannot mathematically win the lead in pledged delegates, so she will have to resort to the dirty kind of backroom dealmaking that she and her husband are best known for. In other words, she’ll have to steal the nomination. The republicans are crossing over in droves in order to help her because she’s the only candidate who McCain can defeat in November. Obama is way beyond McCain’s reach and the republicans know it. That’s why radio commentators are urging republicans to cross over and vote for Hillary; so that they can beat her in November, even though there’s no way that they’ll vote for her in November. About half of the voters in the U.S. will never vote for Hillary under any circumstances, so that gives the republican nominee a great boost and the best chance to win. Hillary supporters don’t seem to mind the fact that they’re killing the democratic chances in November, but then, as they say, that’s the “democratic way”. And here I thought it was only the GOP commiting suicide in this election cycle.

Comment by Francine

Obama and Clinton are ideologically the same - liberal socialist, democrat in name only.

Voting records in the Senate are virtually identical.

Want higher taxes and erosion of liberty? Vote for either of these, and that’s what you’ll get.

Charlie Christ and the Republicans were behind the efforts to move up the Primary in Florida. Many in the Florida legislature opposed it, but provisions were attached to the bill to require a “paper trail” for the voting machines in Florida, something the Legislators were afraid to oppose — given the flak they would get over that, plus we need the paper trail.

So, the Repubs trumped Howard Dean and the Florida Democrats. But the DNC is so stupid that they bought into it. Obama now thinks he can win without Florida. He is opposing seating of the delegates from the Primary and also a re-vote by mail!!!

Apparently, Obama is afraid he will lose again in Florida (and Michigan), and he is willing to hand over the elections to the Republicans if he’s not the candidate. Is that what you call a “Unifier”?

Obama is a sore-loser. As someone said above, he’s slippery but he slipped here.

I have said it several times. Obama withdrew his own name from the Michigan ballot to show support for the decision of the DNC to strip Michigan of their delegates. Hillary didn’t. Obama cries about his name not being on the Michigan ballot but it was self-inflicted. Why should Hillary be penalized because Obama chose to penalize himself and agreed with the DNC that the Michigan voters should be disenfranchised? If the Michigan Democratic party had said “ok we’re fixing the ballot and not putting Obama on it” over his protests I think you would have a point. But he did this to himself.

Comment by Ellis, Pittsburg

Ann: You and most of the other women who support Hillary don’t seem to live in reality, and have a bloodlust for confrontation. Florida and Michigan should not count because all parties agreed to the penalty prior to this election cycle, and not one of them complained about it. It wasn’t until Hillary found herself in a hole that her and her brilliant campaign staff cooked up this idea to resurrect the banned votes of Florida and Michigan.

Do us all a favor and tell us exactly just what rules apply to the Clintons and which do not. Then we won’t have to have this devisive back and forth. If her claim is experience then let her publish her record, if it’s strength then let her stop crying about how unfair the media is to her, either way, it’s time for Billary to put up or shut up.

Samantha, cut it out. There are plenty of states where the GOP and Democrats hold primaries on different days. The GOP cannot tell the Democrats what to do. And furthermore it was the Democrats who made the decision to strip Florida and Michigan of their delegates. The Republicans have absolutely no ability whatsoever to tell the DNC what to do with their delegates. Stop with the right-wing conspiracy crap. The DNC made their own call, they stripped their own delegates and they’re trying to blame the GOP for the CF they themselves have created.

Smantha…the Republicans did not force Dean, DNC, or candidates to decide not to seat the delegates. They did this on their own. Since Obama lost the general vote in Texas but came away with more delegates by winning the caucuses how can he say that superdelegates should vote according to the popular vote? Why doesn’t he refuse the results of the caucuses? Hyprocrisy is ok as long as you are the one that benefits.

Comment by rdd3

@Sarasota

You state that the fact that Clinton agreed that Florida’s votes would not count and that she also, by agreement didn’t campaign in Florida, means that they were on equal footing is false.

In any election where there is no campaign, the more well known candidate usually wins.
That isn’t equal, at all, that advantages Clinton by a large margin.

The race usually tightens when there is campaigning, and in some states like Missouri, it even gave Obama the win.

In our country, the USA, as opposed to say, new democrocies like Russia, we typically think that campaigns are important. Without campaigns, those in power, stay in power..it was campaigning that put the unknown Governor from Arkansas, Bill Clinton, his chance to become president, when there were many more famous people that would have easily won the election if no campaigning had been agreed to.

No campaigning only makes sense if the results won’t count. If the results should count, a fair election, is in order.

And we still need to figure out how to punish Florida for their hubris in unilaterally moving themselves up ahead of the Super Tuesday states to give themselves more influence…which by the way, they certainly got that advantage…there has to be a price for that, I suggest FL go absolutely last in 2012’s nomination process.

Comment by Samantha

Well, Hillary won fair and square as far as I’m concerned and they should simply be counted as is. Then we can move on to Pennsylvania. What’s wrong….the boys are afraid to accept reality?? This also makes up for how Hillary has been beaten up in the press. So now we are all square.

Comment by Pamela

Scott919…Hillary agreed the delegates should not be counted in Florida and Michigan, she is on record in several interviews. She only started spouting her interest in the peoples vote when she knew she needed it to win. She is behind in delegates and states because people are coming out in huge amounts to support Obama..for whatever reason, more then likely because he is just so dang likable…and yep Hillary is’nt. Yea she tries to be..like when she donned the sweatshirt and took up drinking a beer with the reporters to get it out on the news to get the Ohio mens vote or when she start bragging of her sliming fish attributes in Mississippi to gain a vote…heck I’m surprised she didn’t run around with a cowboy hat on spittin tabacca in Texas…I cannot wait to see her act in PA and the other states..she will do ANYTHING to win. Oh and another thing women should be real proud of there girl when she just stood by and let Bill try and make Monica L out to be a stalking pyscho just to keep his big butt in the White house..no one can deny they would have put that young girl through the shredder if not for that blue dress. And no I could careless who Bill chooses to sleep with then or now..just be a man admit it and move on..but no he chose a destructive path to destroy someone. In my humble opinion women who back Hillary need to look in the mirror..put your daughter, neice, friend or grandaughter in that girls situation. Hillary did not reject triing to destroy her -heck she did’nt even denounce it.

“Peggy”. You hit it right on the nose with your email. Only thing you forgot to mention was about Obama’s ties to 2 terrorists here in the states that he is still friends with. This information came from Fox news 2 days ago. And as always, I check things out and found this to be fact. Why would any American want a President that associates himself with terrorists and big time crimminals such as Tony Rezko? Can you even imagine how much damage a President could do with all our Security information if he gave it to the wrong people? Obama’s followers remind me of when Jim Jones was alive and preached change to his followers. Will we end up as Jim Jones followers did because the blacks, young group and people following Obama’s movement (as he puts it) don’t have enough brains to check out the facts. I don’t know why the black people are under the assumption that if he were elected President that he would be the 1st African American to do so in our history. Obama is 50% White and over 43% Arab. The remainder is African American. Obama and his backers have made this race an issue on Obama’s race (supposedly African American), not the Clinton’s . He’s not stupid. He wants and needs the backing of the black people otherwise he won’t get nominated. He’s also very worried that Florida and Michigan will be able to vote again because he knows he will lose. They have every right to vote and be heard. Nobody in this country should be able to say who can and who cannot vote. The people in these 2 states did NOT agree to this. The state Legislator’s in their states did. In Florida’s case it was a Republican Legislature that made this decision. I am sure there is no American that would want their vote being taken away especially since they had no say in the process that determined this. They work and pay taxes just like most American’s do. And I know that I am just thrilled that finally the United States has made Michele Obama proud of this country for the first time in her life. Give me a break. That statement alone along with everything else that is being kept out of the media regarding Obama is enough to make anyone with half a brain see that neither one of them cares about this country or its people. They have reasons beyond what we are now hearing about for Obama seeking the Presidency. He should not be trusted. And I am a Democrat. I am not the type of person that just votes for whoever. I check things out first, and what I have found on Obama makes me cringe.

Way to go Sandra…..woohoo girl power. Yeah baby, eat it!!! We’re gonna get this by any means. I also heard he still goes overseas to be with his muslim friends. Spread the word girlfriend.

I’m pretty confident Obama will not be the next POTUS. The voting block required to get him there, just doesn’t exist. Examine historical voting patterns if you don’t believe me. Like it or not, the preponderance of political power in the democrat party is held by white males, as it is in the republican party.

Furthermore, the media is a fickle enterprise that lifts up and tears down people on a cyclic basis. If you’ll think back a mere six months, by most liberal media accounts, Clinton was the heir apparant. Obama is the topic du jour, because folks are buying into the hype, that draws viewers, which attracts advertising dollars.

The whole media cartel will likely migrate to something else in the near future. The Obama Clinton thing is already getting stale.

Your right she was “handed” the nomination a year and half to early. Then an educated “man” came to the front lines and completely blind sided “The Nominee”. This little boy in IL took what she thought was rightfully hers. Again it was percieved by the media that she is the Dems Nominee. She has always faired well with the media. Now that she is running for the nomination the media isn’t going to give her a free pass.
Samantha and Hillary in particular may claim rape on “the little boy” but the bottom line is, she was handed something and wasn’t responsible enough to hold on to it. So the American People should hand over the Presidency to this zygote? Samantha you represent your gender in a disgusting manner!!

To see the shocking Scandal Index of the Clinton years, as compiled by the liberal Progressive Review (http://prorev.com) is to appreciate the Clinton’s 24/7/365 belief that any progress in their leftist domestic and foreign affairs agenda could only be realized through the most nefarious activity – much of which fit neatly into the criminal category. Under the listing of “Records Set’” by the Clinton administration (read: co-presidency), Progressive Review cites the following, of which I will only list a sampling:

Hillary’s…Um…Character
Throughout her scandal-contaminated eight years in the White House, Hillary – having refined her skills in deflection, dissimulation and denial – became comfortably entrenched in her self-created briar patch. With increasing audacity and a confidence borne of “beating the system,” she also displayed behavior that didn’t quite rise to the level of scandal but certainly occupied other, rather lowly, categories:

Megalomania: Hillary refused to acknowledge – publicly or in print – the woman who in essence wrote her 1996 book, “It Takes a Village.”

Lying: Hillary gave false testimony about her co-defendant Ira Magaziner, who helped her conduct secret meetings about her failed plan to socialize U.S. medicine.

Obstruction of Justice: the “smartest woman in the world” couldn’t remember where she placed the Rose law firm billing records that were subpoenaed in 1994, until they magically reappeared two years later in the White House library.

Tastelessness: In 1999, after the wife of terrorist Yasir Arafat told the co-president that Israel was deliberately poisoning Palestinians, Hillary saw fit to embrace her. And that is not to omit what Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Michael Goodwin called her “rancid race baiting” remarks at a recent Martin Luther King Jr. celebration about Republicans running “the House” like a “plantation.” Significantly, she omitted mention of the holiday that Arkansans celebrated during her years in the state house that honored Dr. King while at the same time honoring Robert E. Lee, the Confederate general who fought to allow the South to keep blacks enslaved.

Selective Amnesia: In her 2004 book, “Living History,” Hillary strangely omitted mention of her own and her husband’s key associates, men with whom she took numerous photographs and who donated millions of dollars to her husband’s campaigns, going back to their Arkansas days. These include – among dozens of other shady characters and outright criminals – Moctar Riady, the Indonesian billionaire owner of the Lippo banking company (the partner of which is the Chinese communist government and reputedly a front for Chinese espionage), and his son James, who eventually pleaded guilty to campaign violations.

Contempt for Women: The world got its first glimpse of Hillary’s shabby character when she was co-running for the co-presidency in 1992 and – with what turned out to be supreme irony – told Steve Kroft on “60 Minutes” that she “wouldn’t be some ’stand by your man’ woman like [country-music icon] Tammy Wynette.”

Her low regard for women continued through the 1990s as the White House went after many but certainly not all of the president’s women – Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, and Elizabeth Ward Gracen – by auditing their tax returns, and, in 1997, leaking Paula Jones’ confidential tax returns to the press.

Monica L came to Washington with her knee pads on. She saved the dress. She had it all
planned. She did the same thing to her professor at college. She just didn’t save any
evidence. This has nothing to do about Hillary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Obama would’ve never been ahead if it wasn’t for the Caucas’s!!!! They have been
rigged the whole time. No one checks ID’s - scribble the name on a piece of paper
and throw it in a ceral bowl - or a jar. This happened in Minnesota, North Dakota and
Texas for positive. This whole thing is a JOKE

Let’s just stop all of the primaries and let the superdelegates cast their votes now!!! My word, the Democratic party is looking really petty lately. Howard Dean needs to grow a spine and take control of the party. He said that MI and FL’s votes won’t count and he needs to stick by his guns. By most estimates the DNC doesn’t have nearly enough money to pay for a new primary or even caucuses so the only option at this point Howard’s only choice is to count the votes as they were originally cast (a terrible idea). Contrast the Democrats to the Republicans and you will see what I mean. The RNC has been quietly stashing away over $50 million for McCain’s candidacy and has stuck firmly by its sanctions against FL and MI. Which party would you rather have running your country, the one that is bankrupt and out of control or the one that is flush with cash and operating smoothly?

Harry, that has nothing to do with Hillary. See Pamela, here the boys go again protecting each other. And the media goes along with this. They always make bills problems into Hillary’s fault. They are always blaming her for everything. It’s because her that the country enjoyed everything in the 90’s. Now it’s time to give her back the whitehouse so she can do it again and show how women can really manage this country.

So now you see what I see Pam, but it’s only worse. The media always takes the men’s side of this story to villify Hillary. They made her the way she is now so it’s their fault….not hers.

I don’t think its a gender issue as much as it is the main stream media fauning over Obama, the liberal Messiah here to take over and change everything. I agree, it is wrong for people to keep blaming Hillary for her husband’s mistakes. Hillary was not the Chief Executive who soiled the Office, and lied under oath. I am tired of people throwing Monicka L in her face.
