McCain gets short with NY Times reporter
done
New Orleans, LA — A press availability aboard Sen. John McCain’s plane got extremely heated Friday when a reporter attempted to ask the presumptive Republican nominee about his 2004 conversation about becoming Sen. John Kerry’s running mate.
Before New York Times reporter Elisabeth Bumiller was able to complete her question about whether Kerry had directly contacted McCain about being his running mate, McCain interrupted her and took issue with the topic.
“Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that. That I had a conversation. There’s no living American in Washington that (doesn’t) know that, there’s no one,” McCain said during a flight from Atlanta to New Orleans. “And you know it too. You know it. No, you know it. You know it. So I don’t even know why you ask.”
The question was spurred by McCain’s comments during an Atlanta town hall meeting Friday morning where he responded to a question about whether he would consider Kerry as a vice president given that the Massachusetts Democrat had made those overtures in 2004. McCain quickly dismissed the question, noting that he and Kerry had major policy differences in 2004 and still do, so there was no chance he would ever consider former Democratic presidential nominee for his number 2.
“So when I was approached, when we had that conversation back in 2004, I mean that’s why I never even considered such a thing,” McCain said at the town hall meeting.
While the fact that the Kerry campaign had contacted McCain about a VP slot is well documented, Bumiller said she could not find a previous account of a direct conversation ever taking place, and queried McCain about the nature of that conversation. She immediately struck a nerve, as McCain repeatedly refused to further discuss the topic at one point asking Bumiller, “so do you have a question on another issue?”
McCain’s GOP rivals tried to use the Kerry overture against him during the primary in an attempt to paint McCain as a liberal–with the Mitt Romney campaign going so far as to create a Kerry-McCain header for press releases.
Here is the exchange from the plane:
Elisabeth Bumiller: Senator can I ask you about Senator Kerry. I just went back and looked at our story, the Times story, and you told Sheryl Stolberg that you had never had a conversation with Kerry about being, about Vice President -
McCain: Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that. That I had a conversation. There’s no living American in Washington -
Bumiller: OK.
McCain: - that knows that, there’s no one.
Bumiller: OK.
McCain: And you know it too. You know it. No, you know it. You know it. So I don’t even know why you ask.
Bumiller: Well I ask because I just read-
McCain: You do know it. You do know it.
Bumiller: Because I just read in the Times in May of ‘04 you said.
McCain: I don’t know what you may have read or heard of, I don’t know the circumstances. Maybe in May of 04 I hadn’t had the conversation -
Bumiller: But do you recall the conversation?
McCain: I don’t know, but it’s well known that I had the conversation. It is absolutely well known by everyone. So do you have a question on another issue? (SEE MORE AFTER JUMP)
Bumiller: Well can I ask you when the conversation was?
McCain: No. nope, because the issue is closed as far as I’m concerned. Everybody knows it. Everybody knows it in America.
Bumiller: Can you describe the conversation?
McCain: No, of course not. I don’t describe private conversations.
Bumiller: OK. Can I ask you -
McCain: Why should I? Then there’s no such thing as a private conversation. Is there (inaudible) if you have a private conversation with someone, and then they come and tell you. I don’t know that that’s a private conversation. I think that’s a public conversation.
Bumiller: OK. Can I ask you about your - why you’re so angry?
McCain: Pardon me?
Bumiller: Nevermind, nevermind.
McCain: I mean it’s well known. Everybody knows. It’s been well chronicled a thousand times. John Kerry asked if I would consider being his running mate.
Bumiller: OK.
Mccain: And I said categorically no, under no circumstances. That’s very well known.
Bumiller: OK. Let me ask you…

NEW YORK TIMES REPORTER IS BEING RUDE TO SENATIVE MCCAIN AND SHOULD BE FIRED.
BOBBIE
This is showing the “TEMPER” that we will have to deal with as President, I don’t think so.
The reporter was not rude and when asked if he recalled such conversation he said no and then said yes it was a private conservation.
I think Senator McCain is a little dazed and confused…..
Temper? Oh, give me a break! I would rather have him explain like he did, that it was a private conversation, than someone who just refuses to answer questions and just walks away when a room full of reports are wanting some answers to questions. I would be more concerned about someone who does not want to be accessable to the America people.
As usual , the media is trying to make this out to be a big deal..
They just love to try and stir someone up then call it a temper tantrum…
I listened to the video… saw nothing odd about it on Mr McCain’s side.. even though he narrowly did seem annoyed of course someone would get testie when a reporter tries to push and rehash an old preposterous issue..
Hey reporter’s I have a great idea >>>>>>>>>> let’s find some real news to report on ..
Like …… Where’s the fence ? When can we vote on the terrorist survalence bill? Why can’t we make English the Official Language ?? Why is the senate & congress wasting so much time on & not taking care of the real business at hand ????
Get a grip people…. you have a lot of work that could be done even on a bipartisan level…
But no…….. they all want to hold out for the large buracratic comprehensive bills……….
Can’t we just focus on each issue & resolve them one at a time ……… or would that not give you the ability to sneak in your earmarks ?
do your job….. media …….. find us some real news !!!!!!!!!
Hey FOX , where’s the blog about Obama & his lack of media access..???
He runs away when he’s asked a few questions …… what do you guys think he will do if he’s president ?????? Welcome your questions ????
you better find out what he’s about now …… or it will be to late to get any response out of him.
Can you imagine him …… sitting in the white house ……. ” I’m Obama, the man of change , I don’t have to answer questions at al now …..I’m the President . “
If the reporter wasn’t being rude then she was being stupid.
As McCain said, this was a news item four years or more ago. What’s the point of talking about a non-event then when there are so many other issues she should have questioned him about?
Try this: Senator, would you consider Joe Lieberman as a VP candidate since Lieberman suppported him? If not, why not?
If Rudy Giuliani isn’t on your VP short list, is he on any list — AG, Homeland Security??
Or is the Times only interested in finding things that might be embarrassing??????
Okay this is the New York Times we’re talking about, they’ve been slandering him a lot here, and the constant asking him questions on the same thing is bound to get annoying.
What a disappointment - this not only wasn’t newsworthy, it wasn’t even juicy gossip! The media is REALLY stretching to find holes in McCain’s character; yet Hillary is portrayed as a geuine crybaby who truly cares for the people of America. Give me a break.
I saw the video and read what he said, and I don’t see that this is some major temper flare up. He was obviously annoyed, and rightly so.
It’s amazing how desperate the NY Times has become in trying to outmaneuver and diss John McCain. The only questions they seemed to be to able pose are warmed up left overs from four, ten or twenty years ago. John McCain does not suffer fools lightly, which is why the NY Times consistanly looks quite stupid.
Oh they’re trying to blame him for the fact Boeing lost the contract with the US Military, nevermind the fact they were doing some illegal activities and McCain caught them on it.
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/03/07/some-dems-try-to-pin-euro-tanker-deal-on-mccain/
Congrats all Americans that did not vote for Huckabee. We now have 2 Democrats to choose from in the next election.
@ Mark
McCain is a Republican, he’s a moderate and come november he’ll be facing off against the most left-wing lunatic members of the Senate.
If anyone thinks that was McCains temper then they don’t know him at all.
The reproter was showing how stupid she is by making an issue out of something that happened years ago and has no bearing on his campaign. So what if John Kerry asked him to be his VP……he said NO!!!!!!!
The media should be banned from all contact with the candidates unless the questions are meaninful and actually have some basis in fact.
I read this same article in the New York Times by Elisabeth Bumiller, where she stated that McCain is known for his temper.
1. Elizabeth, do you have a short term memory problem? The company you work for published an article on McCain having an affair, with no evidence to support that story! You are lucky McCain is even considering your questions!
2. Elizabeth, you are gravely mistaken. It’s Hillary who has the temper, in this campaign. Maybe you should ask her about it.
3. We all know where you were going with that type of story anyway, to try and stump him. News for you, newslady, this is old news. Find a better story to write.
I absolutley completely agree with Senator McCain. It IS a well known conversation and was discussed and closed. DONE. Kerry and McCain are friends, have other business interests but as he says, their views on certain issues are “vastly different” which is why he will NOT be asking Kerry to be his No. 2. The Reporter was TOTALLY out of line. I am glad to see McCain sticking to the guns he has and shutting her up. We need a strong man in office and he is the one.
Thereporter must have been very “THICK” headed to not understand Senator McCains answers. S
Good for John McCain!! After what the Times did to him he could have completely cut them off, but he didn’t. They were embarassed and will never stop going after him. Unlike others, though, he takes the higher ground and continues to answer the questions posed to him.
OMG! He needs to just go back to AZ with his wife and live a happy life!
He didn’t like that he was put on the spot!
There we go again! The same old tactics of the NYT. That paper is a disgrace.
Wow… Senator McCain is well known for his temper.
Swearing at and pushing other members of Congress
who disagree with him…
His nickname in the Congress is Senator Hothead…
Imagine him dealing with crisis at home and abroad…
What happened to the straight talk express…
Heaven forbid he should be asked a difficult question…
I don’t really think that the news media cares about truth any longer. For most it is about the next great ‘watergate’ or how can I get noticed! It is time that these young pups learn to be responsible for the stories they write, I think only then will the media earn back its respect. Shame on you NY Times for keeping this reporter employed.
HEY HAS ANYONE SEEN AMERICAN, AKA. MASTER CONSERVATIVE? THERE’S BEEN NO SIGN OF THIS MAGGOT EVER SINCE A PLUMBER FISHED HIM OUT OF MY SEWER LINE.
IM ONLY KIDDING. MY STENCH-O-METER IS READING THAT HE’S POSTING HERE RIGHT NOW. MY METER TELLS ME HE’S HERE BUT CAN’T TELL ME UNDER WHICH USER NAME.
this is McCain being a “hothead”? Sounded to me like he maintained his composure and was matter-of-fact. Based on reading this artice and comments before watching the video I thought he would be yelling, husing harsh tones, etc. That’s not what I heard.
McCain handled himself well. Didn’t let a reporter roll him. I like what I heard and saw.
He seemed assertive, not angry. Just was determined to make his point that it was old news.
I was very surprised when I saw that McCain did not get angry as you stated. Your reporters must be trying to make McCain look bad even though he said nothing out of line. Please get your facts straight before you say someting like that.
wow…I’m scared…I hope he can control himself when Ahmadinejad throws one st him in one of those UN meetings…God help us.
Maybe the New York Times should stop needling him about stuff that has nothing to do with 2008 election or his policies. They just want to poke at him passive agressively until he bites back. Then they can say “Look! He has a temper!”
I think Mr. McCain handled the confrontation from the NYT reporter exceptionally well. I did not interpret his reply with any anger whatsoever. His body language did not show the emotion of anger. The reporter chose to assign his response as anger and so the story goes, as usual, bias from the media. Mr. McCain answered the question and she kept badgering him. It appears to me he stayed cool, calm and collected. Go Johnnie go! Job well done!!
mccain does not have a temper at all and its ridiculous to even suggest that… hillary and michelle obama are cut from the same mold in that regards… they are both extremely abrasive… i find it incredible that mccain still takes the time to speak to the NYtimes after that debacle of a story they ran which had absolutely zero… the new york times has about as much credibility as a high school gazette… they are simply so anti-conservative to the point of unethical journalism
I think the press just received what they usually give out. If you can’t take it, be nicer yourself. Quit whining.
Bumiller as an agent of the NYT ( all the news unfit to print these days ) tried to create an issue and she looked like the Village idiot - what an unprofessional jerk. The NYT wants one candidate and only one in the WH and that is Billary and will stoop to any tactic to aid the cause. The founders of the NYT are rolling over in their graves knowing what the mgmt has done to the once premier newspaper in the world - a half step behind the National Enquirer. Sad.
Oh I thought McCain had a temper. If that’s his temper I think he’s safe around the football.
I’m somewhat surprised at Fox News going along with this being an angry outburst of some kind. I’ve been angry before and this isn’t what it looks like. Perhaps he should have just “found his voice” and shed a few tears or just walked away and not answered any more questions.
typical of the 4th estate - they actually think (and maybe they do) run this country and there is no bounds to their attempts to destroy this country.
I’m not sure what point this reporter was trying to make. Who cares if Kerry asked McCain to be a running mate in 2004. John McCain addressed the question as to wether he would be asking Kerry to be his running mate in ‘08. He said no. What more needs to be asked? Who cares if they may have had a private conversation about it in 2004. Who cares if they have a private conversation about it in ‘08. It only becomes in issue if they do in fact become running mates. Then the reporter has something to ask about. Does she want to make her mark as a campaign reporter or a tabloid reporter?

Another liberal gone wild. I checked the link and it was a news report by a CNN (liberal network) reporting hearsay. There’s no vid of McCain asking Kerry to be his VP.
Another Liberal full of $hit and proven yet again (as always) wrong! Hey wolfsons, call the fire department…your pants are on fire. lol
What a wonderful personality to put in possession of the missile launch codes! McCain is a very angry kind of man who will verbally and physically lash out at anyone to doesn’t obey his orders. I cannot think of a more dangerous candidate, from any party, during the last 50 years. Look for his temper to explode many more times and look for physical violence from him as well. That McCain lies is not a surprize. He has lived his life in a constant stream of lies and lashes out at anyone foolish enough to point them out. Want to read a horror story? Read his public record. If that doesn’t scare you, then you must be a houseplant.
While I am conservative, I was a little bewildered at why McCain was so upset with the question. Regardless though, I don’t think he went over the top and for all I know he had answered her several times before.
Bottomline, the media will basically do anything to stir up trouble and as they are slanted/bias to the left McCain can and should expect them to try and irritate him throughout the campaign.
What a sad commentary of our media!

Well, if that is a temper, then every person in America needs to rush out to their polling places and vote this man in office immediately!!! Even George W. Bush’s temper is worse than what was shown here.
Because in the world that we are living in, we need a man who will not lose his temper at the drop of a hat and become over emotional. McCain, you just earned alot of respect from this conservative Democrat who certainly will be voting for you in November. Not for one of the two left-winged liberals who are running for office in my party!
http://blog.hillaryclinton.com/
Yea! We need to know how much toilet paper he uses per visit, which hand he wipes with, how many times he wipes, how many times he flushes and we will not settle for anything less!!!
McCain was being a big jerk (not too much out of character for him) To repeat the same line over and over and over again..just answer the question and be done with it. It’s called finesse and grace Senator McCain lacks both.
This man scares me! What if the President of Iran asked him a question that irritated him? Would he behave in such a manner. Just what we need in the world…2 crazy men feeding off each other’s idiosyncrasies. He doesn’t have the temperament to be president. I’m a life-long Republican and I won’t be voting for him.
John McCain wasn’t angry. That was a false interpretation form the NYTimes reporter used to create a bad image for John McCain. The NYTimes has an agenda: undermine John McCain’s candidacy for conservatives. Won’t work because conservatives don’t care much what the NYTimes says.
I M REPUBLICAN
I M STUPID ASS H,O,LE,
I LOVE WAR
I M GONNA SUPPORT MCCAIN NO MATTER WHAT
BECASUE ITS ABOUT BEING REPUBLICAN ,,ITS NOT ANOUT WHATS BEST FOR AMERICA
TEMPER, TEMPER Senator McCain. If this country had half the sense it was born with we would now have Mitt Romney, the brightest and best candidate our country has had in years.
No temper problems. No Ethics violations like Huckster. Only a brilliant mind in a handsome body with almost perfect family.
Folks Mitt Romney was ahead in the delegate count when he warned you: “A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain.” Well some of you, enough to split the more conservative branch, voted for Huckabee who never had the chance of a snowflake in hell (see http://www.stopbigots.com for the reasons) and voila–you got what you voted for–John McNasty!!
I’ll vote for him because it looks to me like Barak will be the nominee for the D’s and his connections to Saddam Hussein’s regime (Google “Auchi Obama Saddam”
along with his Left of Lenin social policies is even WORSE than MC.
Just hope the old war horse has enough sense to try to tap Mitt Romney–the only candidate in either party who understands economics and who is badly needed in this time of economic downturn–as VP (if he would deign to be VP to such an inferior creature).

the real McCain
Rage seems to be at the core of his personality: describing his own childhood, McCain has written: “At the smallest provocation I would go off into a mad frenzy, and then suddenly crash to the floor unconscious. When I got angry I held my breath until I blacked out.”
McCain has distinguished himself most as an uber-hawk on foreign policy. To give a brief smorgasbord of his views: at a recent rally, he sang “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran,” to the tune of the Beach Boys’ “Barbara Ann.” He says North Korea should be threatened with “extinction.”
Great, wonderful a raging, angry man when in a crisis; and become laughing stock of
rest of world must be almost as old as the pope;
becomes then so symbolic economy in almost recession and leader also in reiterement age.
Thank you McCain for illustrating control AND strength at the same time.
You truly are the best of the bunch.
I’m no great McCain admirer, but it does seem like the New York Times is stuck in the past in regards to McCain. They should develop an archaeological research institute devoted solely to digging up ancient dirt. It would keep them busy for years.
McCain loses cool? Where? Certainly not in this clip. Totally misleading. Shame on Fox. Pathetic.
Oh yeah, Right! Let’s elect a MUSLIM whose grandmother (a practicing Muslim) is praying for Obama to be our President!
Don’t forget that he swore on the KORAN when he became a senator.
The United States was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. We better be darned careful whom we elect and not let other countries get a foothold in our government!
That will be the beginning of the end for good old USA!
you are kidding right? lost his temper? if you think that is someone losing their temper, you have a serious perception problem.
Is there some other allegiance that Senator Obama has that we should all know about before we cast our vote for President? Is this his campaign of “hope” — renouncing the symbol of blood lost and freedoms gained by our forefathers?
Senator Obama — Patriotism is NOT a four letter word!
As far as not having his hand over his heart for the national anthem — I think hes just utterly clueless. Look at the dopey vacant look on his face. He reminds me distinctly of Forrest Gump in that pic. and all the people bright enough to remember to put their hands over their hearts are behind him where he cant see their example.
Obama is a traitor and should not be trusted!
VOTE RIGHT VOTE REPUBLICAN IN 2008!
Pessimism and flip flopping seem to be a common theme in the Democratic Party; but what else is new? One minute they support the war, then they are against the war…and then they were never supportive of going to war blah blah blah. Same story with most if not all the democrats on Capitol Hill. First there is Murtha who was originally against the surge in Iraq now claims that it is working. Then, late last week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who has been documented as saying “This was is lost”, has now changed his position claiming there is significant progress being made in Iraq.
Not only do they have a negative outlook on everything from the war in Iraq, the economy, healthcare, illegal immigration and everything in between; it’s almost as if they want us to fail across the board.
But then again, with an expression like that, how can anyone be optimistic about anything?
So Sen. McCain has a temper and that’s a bad thing? Clinton has a horrible temper; Lyndon Johnson did: Kennedy could blow up; Ike had a lifelong temper; Truman had a noticable temper.
When one is president there’s no rule that fools, liars, and trouble-hunters have to be tolerated.
This person was from the NYT and obviously was on the prowl. She should have been given a parachute and shown the door.
I like that Sen. McCain has a temper and I think it’s a sign of a healthy mind and a pupose-driven life. There’s no guile there.
If that is considered a temper then I know people who have some major issues.
I belive the reporter is a little sensitive and had to report something to meet her NY Times deadline. Unfortunately, you have Senator Clinton who already displays her radical emotions with anger and tears. You have Senator Obama who acts genuine but, who doesn’t even honor our american flag at a convention (check out the youtube video). What else do you guys want to dig up to change a vote?
Hey “OBAMA IS A TRAITOR” — You are a looney. I’m not an Obama supporter. But get your facts straight. He did not swear in on the Koran, (some other congressman did) and if you think putting your hand over your heart is a true measure of patriotism you have a lot to learn. What about all those bozo’s at major sporting events who eat, talk, etc while the anthem is played. I don’t consider that not being patriotic; I consider that tacky and lazy. And you probably should read a dictionary and look up the definition of the word “traitor”. But I suspect you are just some idiot.
Regarding Senator McCain and the Times reporter { if that’s what you call her }, I think he handled the situation very well. He may have been a little perturbed , but I didn’t think he lost his cool
As for him losing his cool if elected President { and he WILL be }, I’d rather have him than any person the Dems run against him.
The New York times is a typical liberal rag.
The reporter is a predictable, smartassed liberal.
Next.
I don’t believe he lost his cool at all…and I do believe he has a short temper. This was clearly a case of a NY Times reporter playing possum, trying to get a rise out of McCain, and he wasn’t going to fall for it. He shut her down, as he should have, swiftly, and efficiently. End of non-story.
If you think this makes McCain look bad you are mistaken. You have joined the ranks of the CBS ( Complete Bull S*** ) network and D. R. ( Disgusting Reporting ) . With the world climate as it is today we certainly don’t need a wimp in the White House. I don’t understand why reporters like wimpy candidates.
This report reminds me of an infomercial, lots of big words, flailing hands and great boasts, but with little substance and the product is of no relevance to anyone with no worth.
McCain didn’t lose it, the question and subject matter where of no relevance and the fact that the media is covering it all is a bit pathetic.
Then again the media seems hell-bent on covering the irrelevant this season and turning every little thing into the apocalypse!
I know the horror of having a campaign without sex, violence and intrigue must be hard to accept…where’s the fun in that! (or the ratings)
McCain has written: “At the smallest provocation I would go off into a mad frenzy, and then suddenly crash to the floor unconscious. When I got angry I held my breath until I blacked out.”
McCain is, however, an extremely weak candidate. The senator’s been showing his age throughout the primaries, and there is still a long and exhausting slog ahead. His wooden delivery of stump speeches — sometimes offered while staring at his notes — and some incidents in which he’s appeared “confused” -
hope they dont get him in check too much, people have a ‘ball’
previous called fellow republicans shi**head, fu**ing prik and a**hole
angry raging old man
envious of his heritage since he never made it to admiral or general like his father or granddad
I read the whole news report and I can’t see what the big deal is, people lose their temper on occasion and McCain just happened to lose it on this particular occasion. Why does the Media make such a big deal out of these silly remarks made by the candidates? I could care less about them.
this report was not, journalists know he can any time explode so they try to feed him
did not work out so well this time, oh well always a next time or he mahes himself some craxy stupid gaffe
Yep, blame the question. That’s smart. ignore and avoid the fact that he stumbles and sputtered and got angry. Ignore the fact that he has stated that he’ll keep our troops in Iraq even if it takes 100 years. I’m no “Democrat” but i want our troops home (from EVERYWHERE not just Iraq). I want the government out of my personal business. I DON’T need to be told how to live my life or raise my kids. I’m perfectly capable of thinking for myself. I want my fellow citizens to wake up, stop being sheeple, read the Constitution, stop believing all the bs being shoved down our throats by the elitist few and the MSM who obviously do NOT give a second thought to our needs. This country is supposed to be a Democratic Rebublic not the socialist facist entity that it has been turned into. Get a clue people!
KHicks,
I agree with most of what you wrote but unfortunately it’s not as easy as just pulling our military out. We have become the worlds peace keepers and while I hate that tag we must do our part for the stability where ever we are.
I wish McCain would have answered the NYTs reporter’s question this way, “I don’t need to address the content of mine and Senator kerry’s conversation of four years ago because it is old news with no bearing on my policies, ethics or character and it is clear to me from your condescending tone and cavalier prodding that you are trying to create a story out of this interview itself rather than the content of your questions by pressing me to the point of annoyance with the hope that I will display my well known temper which I usually reserve for occasions just like this so that you can then ask me as you just did, “why are you so angry?”.
We are not now, nor should we ever be, the world’s “peacekeeper”. The U.S. was not established with any such goal; quite the contrary. We are supposed to be friendly with all, long term alliances with none. We are supposed to mind our own business and take care of our own country and citizens. When we insist on sticking our nose where it doesn’t belong, occupy the homelands of other peoples, tell them how to run their country at the point of a gun, then we will be the object of revenge in the form of attacks such as 9/11. This interventionist militaristic nonsense is going to wind up bringing down the U.S. economy and then the troops will have no choice but to come home, to turn their guns on their fellow citizens. Thanks neocons.
My question about this report is “How in the world does the gossip-mongering New York Times stay in business?”
I don’t think he lost his temper. He respected the private conversation that he had with Kerry. If I were him I would stop talking to all NYT reporters. Screw them all they are trying to do is do him in. Lets hope for a Hillary/Obama ticket so we will be sure that a Republican will win in November.
To DB:
I agree with profitleads on this. To add to his/her thought think about this:
You say it’s not easy to bring the troops home from Korea, Germany, Italy, the Phillipines, Iraq? Yes, actually it is just as easy as putting them enmass on the very planes that took them there in the first place. Shut down the bases all of them and bring them home to secure our own borders. If you research just how much of our money they (our government) waste every day to police the entire world you would see that it’s more than cost-effective to bring them home. Then and only then will the so-called terrorists leave us alone. Blowback is very real and until we stop depending on our government to tell us what they want us to hear and not the real truth we will continue to be slaves to them, continually feeding the war machine.
It is our Constitutional responsibility/duty (clearly stated in said document) for the protection of our own country and citizens to stand up against the very tyranny happening today within our government (ie. the so-called Patriot Act). Why do we allow them to get away with it when we out number them?
All reporters,be it radio,tv or newspaper should report the news not rewrite the news. The New York Times is a newspaper not a gossip paper, they are getting as bad as the people who follow people taking pictures, they are stupid and intrusive . The papers that print this garbage are no different than the New York Times. Mr. McCain is a GOOD MAN and should be respected .
