McCain praises Hillary for wins, slams her war remarks
West Palm Beach, FL — Sen. John McCain said he is not surprised that Democratic rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, pulled out key victories in the Texas and Ohio primaries Tuesday night.
done
“I congratulate her. I mean she works very, very hard. She is a real campaigner. I notice that she was up very late last night and yet she was able to be…in Washington and be on all the morning shows this morning. She is a very hard campaigner. I give her great credit,” McCain said during a media availability on his plane flight to Florida Wednesday evening.
“I would never count…the former President or Senator Clinton out of any race,” he added, noting that he has said on his campaign bus for weeks that Clinton is a tough campaigner and that “Republicans had a tendency to (doubt the Clinton’s) back in ‘92.”
But the praise ended there as he rebuked Clinton over remarks she made during her Tuesday victory speech where she declared that, “we’re ready to end the war in Iraq and win the war in Afghanistan.”
done
“I think they’re inter-connected. And I don’t think you can…declare your going to basically give up in one place to al Qaeda and expect to prevail in another…..country in that part of the world,” McCain said. “I don’t think it’s realistic in any way to say you’re going to pull out of one country and yet you’re going to win in another one with a common enemy.”

He’s right on the war comments.
The Democrats are simply ridiculous.
Give it up Obama there is so much dirt out there on you that you will be defending yourself for the next 6 to 7 weeks. All of you that want to be sure you are voting for the right person please Google ” nadhmi auchi” then Google nadhmi auchi obama”. If Obama was friends with only one criminal then you might be able to accept his excuses but boy he has a past with many very shady people. This would include Resko, his pastor and Farrakhan. He also has links with Nadhmi Auchi who is a British-Iraqi billionaire who was working with Saddam Hussein.
Wake up people. Maybe this is all innocent but there is not enough time to be sure. If he was just a innocent fool and made a bad judgement call with his associations then he can use the next years to put these people behind bars and maybe run again. We can not hand over our country to a man because he makes pretty speeches. Hitler did that and look what happened then.
Way to clock hillary! Good job mcCain!
How long do you think we can maintain the “surge”?
Many of our troops are due to return from their tours of duty in Iraq. Enlistments into the Military are down as 2/3 of the country no longer support the war.
Who are we going to hand over control to in Iraq? The Sunnis or the Shiites? The Sunnis are aligned with Saddam Hussein and the Shiites are aligned Iran. As a result of our interference, Osama Bin Laden has found a new place to recruit support.
It is clear that the Middle East wants to be in charge of their on destiny. We cannot continue to force our will upon another country. If another country tried to force their wll on our country, we would reject it as well.
I lived in Arizona for alot of years and let me tell you I have alot of respect for Mr McCain and I think he is absolutly right about that. The war has already been cast on both fronts and has to be dealt with according to the way it is and terrorism will not all of a sudden stop here or there.Hillary needs to be more specific about this issue if she is to have any chance of beating McCain that is if she can become the democratic nominee.I think the Dems or in a delusional mode and step on there own foot way to much Example:There election rules and Elections are totally off kilter and are not being totally fair to the american people and make them look real bad while the republicans get a free ride all the way to the white house. These are totally unfair for the disadvantaged in this country. The Dems have time and time again came up with the wrong answers and show that they are incapable to show the stature and direction without without gapping loopholes. They really need to tighten it up and close ranks to make it a stronger party wat to much division going on and that makes them look real bad and above all Im a Democrat
@ Michael in Atlanta
The bigger question is what will the consequences be if we pull out, to be blunt the dems want to give Iraq to Al-Qaeda, there will be a lot more attacks on the United States.
I have not been a McCain supporter from the start,
I was for Fred Thompson. Mike Huckabee was my only other alternative,
However, the Republican Party now has to come together, and give their Support
For the Candidate that has prevailed. That Being Mr. McCain.
There are more Important Issues, being Decided in and for this Election Cycle than;
Who can Beat Up on this Administration to get Votes for their Agenda For, a Socialist
And Undemocratic, Welfare State the American People Really do Not Want.
That is a cradle to grave Nanny State to Dictate to the United States and its Citizens
Who, What, Where, and Why they can say or do “Anything” out of Lockstep with the;
Ninth Circuit Court of Berkley and the Radical Far Left wing of Hollywood!
The Democratic Party, has Abrogated their Responsibility to get anything Done in
Congress and the Senate for many Years now; Just so they could “BASH” , BUSH!
This is Childish and is, Self Destructive Behavior that we wouldn’t put up with from;
Our Children, let alone our Congressmen and Senators!
It has been and now “IS” past time for them to Pay The Butchers Bill for their Traitorous Actions;
And Inactions Along PARTY LINES for the Defense of our Borders and the Country.
They should Be Held in Contempt and Impeached for the Crime of; TREASON!
For and With, Allowing and Abetting, the Illegal Alien Invasion of the United States of America.
Not to mention the “CONSTANT BICKERING” by their Party and abuse of the Military over the
Support in funding and anything else they need for the, Defense and Support of our Troops in Harms way!
They are due to Reap the Consequences of their Actions.
As they Say; ”War is Hell!”, and So; is the Battle to come for the White House.
They have their Complacency and Corruptions along with their Responsibility for;
The Consequences of their Actions too, Just as Every other American Citizen
Would have to Pay; And Pay we do with the Blood and Treasure of our Family’s and their Security;
Along with the Border guards that are, incarcerated, and being shot on the Mexican Border
By the Drug Cartels, Gangs and Illegal Alien Smugglers, along with, Our Citizens;
Being Kidnapped and held for Ransom by the Drug Cartels!
Not to mention, Terrorizing the Towns and Counties All across America,
Not Just our Southern Border with Mexico.
Therefore, I want Mr. McCain to Reply and The Party to Respond, to this:
“VERY REAL AND PRESENT DANGER” to the Safety and Security of this Nation!
What are you going to do about this “Travesty of Justice”,
To Protect and Support our Citizens Mr. McCain?
END TRANS: MARV!
Hillary and McCain are on friendly terms. Have been for a while. Fortunately, he doesn’t have any qualms about laying the smack down on a friend when it serves his best interest. The Democrats are so off-base on the war that they no longer have any credibility on the subject. It’s clear that we need to finish what we started in Iraq. We’ll lose some more of our young men in the process but defending freedom and democracy is what this nation is all about. You’d think that Democrats would want to defend a fledgling democracy.
McCain/Rice 2008
If everyone will just look at the candidates openly, there is only one real choice. McCain
Condi Rice would be the best choice for VP!
Outraged Canadian! We are watching
I really don’t care who wins this election but I am upset as many Canadians how Canada was used by the Clintons in their political ploy to attack Obama’s credibility. Implying that Obama is lying are they saying the same about the officials from the Canadian consulate because they backed Obama’s story. Not only were the implications “nonsensical” about the tour it was also “absurd.” Any idiot knows that embassies normally deals with “immigration” issues for its citizens abroad and for people interested in living and visiting certainly not “TRADE.” Don’t they think that Canada is organized enough to have departments that would discuss NAFTA. Before and after NAFTA Canada will continue to trade with the US. Why now are they painting us Canadians as a sneaky under handed back door dealer who needs to secure our place with a nominee who is not the president? I don’t see how that led to a wink and a nod, maybe Hilary needs a wink with that fake smile of hers. She looked like the Joker laughing for such a nasty win.
Michael in Alanta–Sorry you are wrong!!! New stats out last week and broadcast on CNN and other networks showed a surprie for the liberals. More than 50% of the people in the United States now support the war and carrying it out to completionin victorious stabilization of what would be a hot bd for our enemies.
Actually, an interviewer of Hillary Clinton just hours after the poll was released asked her how she planned to spin her reversal on that now that her position was likely to loose the presidency for her!!
NICE TRY AT BEATING THE OLD ANTI-WAR DRUM. Fact is the surge has worked. Many of our trops are coming home or being redeployed to Afghanistan and the America, for once, didn’t back down and is on the ascendency again.
GO HILLARY
MOST DEMOCRATS VOTE FOR HILLARY
OBAMA WINS WITH REPS,,INDEP….AND YOUNG FOLKS IN CACUSES ,,,,,
HILLARY WINS MOST PRIMARIES……….
I am a Democrat who really likes McCain, and will maybe vote for him if Obama gets the nod (though it will take much soul searching before a cast a vote for a Republican). As far as the remaining candidates go, I think McCain is definitely the “uniter”. Obama supporters seem to think that their candidate is different, plays by the rules, and is a uniter. Why is his campaign asking that the rules not change midstream — which is very reasonable — and then asking the superdelegates not to go against the will of the people? At the onset of the game, the superdelegates were told to vote for whomever they think is most worthy. I see this as a clear example of Obama saying or doing whatever it takes to win. I’m sure Obama supporters will see things differently, but this perception that he is above the fray is crazy.
the only real clear choice. McCain/Rice
HEY HAS ANYBODY SEEN AMERICAN, AKA. MASTER CONSERVTIVE? IM A LITTLE UPSET WITH HIM RIGHT NOW.
LAST NIGHT THE TOILETS BACKED UP IN THE HOUSE. I HAD TO CALL ROTO-ROOTER IN BECAUSE THERE WAS SOMETHING STUCK DEEP IN THE SEWER LINE. AFTER WORKING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THIS PLUMBER PULLED OUT–YOU GOT IT. IT WAS AMERICAN, AKA. MASTER CONSERVATIVE.
I COULDN’T BELIEVE IT. THAT MAGGOT WAS STUCK IN MY SEWER LINE. THE PLUMBER ASKED WHAT HE SHOULD DO WITH THIS FILTH? SO IT COST ME AN EXTRA $200 TO CONVINCE THE PLUMBER TO HAUL HIM OFF.
I HATE TO ADMIT THAT NOW WHEN I DON’T SEE HIM AROUND HERE NOW, THAT IM A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT WHAT THE PLUMBER DID WITH HIM. ALTHOUGH IM HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS THAT HES POSTING HERE RIGHT NOW UNDER ONE OF HIS MANY USER NAMES
I agree, there is no good solution in Iraq. At a cost of a billion dollars a month, our military simply cannot maintain a longer stay in Iraq. If we leave there will be chaos. The situation beween the Sunni and Shiites was chaotic before we intervened. It is our presence that gave rise to the possibility of even more chaos.
When “SoDam Insane” was in control of Iraq, he would never have allowed Al-Qaeda to be in his country. I believe neither the Sunni or Shiites would allow Al-Qaeda to take control of their country.
Let Al-Qaeda, the Sunnis and the Shiites die for the destiny of their country. We have no place in that struggle until there is a real eminent threat. George Bush’s claim about weapons of Mass Destruction and a eminent threat were unfounded(bad inteliigence??).
If there is to be a democracy in Iraq, the Iraqis have to be willing to die for it, not our troops.
The russians couldn’t conquer afghanistan entirely; US supported vast amounts of weapons etc. to guerillas and later became a hot bed for the taliban who promised security, Bin Laden was Saudi who had set up camp there with an extreem form of Islam with had devastating impact throughout the world. This extreem view of Islam got somehow support in various countries, Iraq, Spain, Uk, Indonesia etc. enemy western world and the ‘corrupt’ governments in islamic world itself. In Iraq you got fanatics of among others neighboring countries fighting in the mayhem, to ’save Islam’. Its like a loose organisation centered around an Idea or philosohy. And thats hard to fight agaist, since not a regular army. Changes has to come from within for alternative, better prospects, rejection of il fated ideas. Only Military force won’t work, only alienate people on the ground.
They are two distinct geographical areas, and lack of economic prosperity plays a big part in all of it. Probably Iraq plays it out gradually with the various sectors (Kurds, Shia and Sunni)but takes time. Afghanistan can’t see any real improvements, heroin trade major income and not much alternative and historically very diffficult for outsiders for inroads. So in a way McCain is right but also wrong. More complex, but thats not what people like to hear. ironically Iran is shia country and has nothing to do with Al queda (Sunni related form of islam).
McCain is probably right that there will be a presence for many many years in Iraq for geopolitical reasons and to secure oil wealth.

While Hillary Clinton battles Barack Obama the campaign trail, a judge in Los Angeles is quietly preparing to set a trial date in a $17 million fraud suit that aims to expose an alleged culture of widespread corruption by the Clintons and the Democratic Party.
At the conclusion of a hearing tomorrow morning before California Superior Court Judge Aurelio N. Munoz, lawyers for Hollywood mogul Peter F. Paul will begin seeking sworn testimony from all three Clintons – Bill, Hillary and Chelsea – along with top Democratic Party leaders and A-list celebrities, including Barbra Streisand, John Travolta, Brad Pitt and Cher.
Paul’s team hopes for a trial in October 2008. The Clintons’ longtime lawyer David Kendall, who will attend the hearing, has declined comment on the suit.
The Clintons have tried to dismiss the case, but the California Supreme Court, in 2004, upheld a lower-court decision to deny the motion.
Bill Clinton, according to the complaint, promised to promote Paul’s Internet entertainment company, Stan Lee Media, in exchange for stock, cash options and massive contributions to his wife’s 2000 Senate campaign. Paul contends he was directed by the Clintons and Democratic Party leaders to produce, pay for and then join them in lying about footing the bill for a Hollywood gala and fundraiser.
The Clintons’ legal counsel has denied the former president made any deal with Paul. But Paul attorney Colette Wilson told WND there are witnesses who say it was common knowledge at Stan Lee Media that Bill Clinton was preparing to be a rainmaker for the company after he left office.
Paul claims former Vice President Al Gore, former Democratic Party chairman Ed Rendell and Clinton presidential campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe also are among the people who can confirm Paul engaged in the deal
WHY IS THE MEDIA AFRAID TO REPORT THIS STORY………………..
*interesting story about trial. Here an extract from another story:
Anderson said the bank owners and board members used Superior for their pioneering work in sub-prime lending, developing the financial instruments that helped set the stage for the current sub-prime meltdown.
“The Pritzkers like to say they did sub-prime lending to help the disadvantaged get into the home equity business, [but] it would be more accurate to state they ran a very large nation-wide predatory lending operation,” Anderson said, citing criticism of Superior’s lending practices in a letter written to the Office of Thrift Supervision on July 3, 2002, by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, an association of more than 600 community-based organizations that promote access to basic banking services.
As an owner and board chair of Superior, Penny Pritzker also was named in a RICO class action suit on behalf of the more than 1,400 depositors at Superior, who initially lost over $50 million of their life savings.
“This is a story of two Americas with two sets of laws, one for the rich and powerful and another for the rest of us,” said Clint Krislov, the depositors’ attorney, in a recent interview. “My clients will all be dead, before they get back their money, given the Supreme Court’s recent decision to uphold the lower court, which put the predatory owners on the front of the line, if any money is recovered.”
The Pritzkers arrayed a powerful and well-connected legal team including former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment lawyer Lanny Davis, two ex-comptrollers of the currency, and two former General Counsels to the FDIC, the American Banker Magazine reported.
Given the political sensitivity of the sub-prime mortgage crisis, Anderson said he believes Penny Pritzker should resign her post as Obama’s Finance Chair, the person who oversees the campaign’s fundraising.
Otherwise, Anderson said, Pritzker’s presence could undercut Obama’s credibility on the issue of predatory lending and create a possible conflict of interest if Obama is elected President and tries to crack down on sub-prime abuses.
Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor had no comment about the controversy surrounding Pritzker, but added: “Barack Obama has already made it very clear that he’s going to crack down on fraudulent brokers and lenders.”
One might wonder why Hillary Clinton’s campaign hasn’t jumped on this issue. Maybe it’s because Penny’s little brother, J.B. Pritzker, is a mover and shaker in the Clinton campaign.
In May of 2007, Jay Robert, aka, (J.B.) Pritzker, threw his support behind Hillary Clinton, representing a coup for her campaign by wresting the billionaire out of Obama’s home town of Chicago, and better still, the brother of Obama’s Campaign Finance Chair.
J.B. Pritzker announced he would head a new grassroots organization called Citizens for Hillary Clinton. Pritzker told reporters at the time, the new organization would go into states “where we haven’t fully organized” and seek out campaign supporters as well as raise funds.
Apparently the Pritzkers will be sitting at the head table at the Inaugural Ball if either Democrat wins.

HOW CLINTON AND OBAMA ARE DIFFERENT
Clinton would continue the 28 year old Reagan - Bush - Clinton - Bush era; Obama would probably end it.
While both have misled voters, Clinton has by far the worst record, witness the cattle futures, Whitewater, travel office and similar scandals as well as the fact that five of her fundraisers have been convicted of, or pleaded no contest to, crimes and one fled the country after being indicted on charges related to raising money.
While they both have had seamy friends, so far only one has surfaced for Obama - Rezko - as opposed to a lengthy list for Clinton that begins with three close business partners who ended up in prison.
Obama, unlike Clinton, has never been almost indicted.
Obama, unlike Clinton, has never been mentioned 35 times in a criminal indictment.
Obama, unlike Clinton, has been involved in a resort land scam with in which about half the purchases, many of them seniors, lost their property.
Obama, unlike Clinton, is not currently being sued in a case involving an allegedly massive misreporting of campaign contributions.
Obama, unlike Clinton, did not support the appointment of the now indicted Bernie Kerick to be head of Homeland Security
Obama would be good at international negotiations; foreign leaders wouldn’t know whether to trust Clinton.
Obama is not married to Bill Clinton
Obama has revealed his tax returns; Clinton hasn’t
Clinton thinks McCain would be better qualified for the White House than Obama; Obama would rather have Clinton than McCain
The Clinton administration, according to an HRC ad, wouldn’t answer an emergency White House call until the sixth ring; the Obama administration, it is implied, would wait for the seventh.
Obama voted against immunity for telecoms’ illegal spying on Americans; Clinton didn’t show up for the vote.
Obama has inspired a lot of young and minority voters to get involved in politics; Clinton has relied upon a traditional and aging constituency.
Obama favored cluster bomb ban in civilian areas; Clinton opposed the ban
Obama says “everything is on the table” with Social Security. Clinton seems slightly more supportive of the classic Democratic program
Obama opposed putting heating fuel assistance for low income in stimulus bill; Clinton supported it
CLINTON ALSO . . .
Favors healthcare individual mandates that would help insurance companies and banks but not citizens
Has the most number of foreign lobbyist contributors
Is even more popular with Pentagon contractors than McCain
Is most popular with K Street lobbyists
Is only First Lady to come under criminal investigation
Has received the most funds from oil industry
Has received the most funds from health industry
Gave most number of evasive answers (250) to congressional inquiries
Submitted the largest false campaign finance report
BARACK OBAMA
A Target-Rich Profile of Michelle Obama
You get the feeling Michelle Obama is never going to be boring to cover. (See here, here, here and here.) Hot Air and JammieWearingFool already noted the most eye-opening comment from Mrs. Obama…
Obama begins with a broad assessment of life in America in 2008, and life is not good: we’re a divided country, we’re a country that is “just downright mean,” we are “guided by fear,” we’re a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents. “We have become a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day,” she said, as heads bobbed in the pews. “Folks are just jammed up, and it’s gotten worse over my lifetime. And, doggone it, I’m young. Forty-four!”
… but there’s a lot more where that came from, a New Yorker profile that aims to be flattering:
From these bleak generalities, Obama moves into specific complaints. Used to be, she will say, that you could count on a decent education in the neighborhood. But now there are all these charter schools and magnet schools that you have to “finagle” to get into. (Obama herself attended a magnet school, but never mind.) Health care is out of reach (“Let me tell you, don’t get sick in America”), pensions are disappearing, college is too expensive, and even if you can figure out a way to go to college you won’t be able to recoup the cost of the degree in many of the professions for which you needed it in the first place. “You’re looking at a young couple that’s just a few years out of debt,” Obama said. “See, because, we went to those good schools, and we didn’t have trust funds. I’m still waiting for Barack’s trust fund. Especially after I heard that Dick Cheney was s’posed to be a relative or something. Give us something here!”
In Cheraw, Obama belittled the idea that the Clinton years were ones of opportunity and prosperity: “The life that I’m talking about that most people are living has gotten progressively worse since I was a little girl. . . . So if you want to pretend like there was some point over the last couple of decades when your lives were easy, I want to meet you!”
Who ever said life was easy? Who ever said it would be easy? Who ever said that it is the responsibility of government to make life easy? I mean, at this rate, why not run on the campaign slogan, “Immanentize the Eschaton”?
The profile is a treasure trove; read on.
One of the weirder comparisons I’ve seen, suggesting that New Yorker correspondent Lauren Collins has never actually encountered a Republican:
Listening to her speeches, with their longing for a lost, spit-shine world, one could sometimes mistake her, were it not for the emphasis on social justice, for a law-and-order Republican. “It’s not just about politics; it’s TV,” she says, of our collective decay. And, wistfully: “The life I had growing up seems so much more simple.” She is a successful working mother, but an ambivalent one: “My mother stayed at home. She didn’t have to work.
If you think Mrs. Obama’s comments have had a certain strange anger to them, note this anecdote:
Michelle and Barack met at Sidley & Austin, when she was assigned to advise him during a summer job. Michelle’s co-workers warned her that the summer associate was cute. “I figured that they were just impressed with any black man with a suit and a job,” she later told Barack.
A rather low opinion of her former co-workers, isn’t it? Something of an accusation of “the soft bigotry of low expectations”?
This anecdote of the Obama relationship will probably resonate, as Barack sounds like a bit of a commitment-phobe:
Barack had a more bohemian attitude toward romance. “We would have this running debate throughout our relationship about whether marriage was necessary,” Obama told me. “It was sort of a bone of contention, because I was, like, ‘Look, buddy, I’m not one of these who’ll just hang out forever.’ You know, that’s just not who I am. He was, like”—she broke into a wishy-washy voice—“ ‘Marriage, it doesn’t mean anything, it’s really how you feel.’ And I was, like, ‘Yeah, right.’ ”
I suspect Collins finally picked up the vibe that the rest of us have:
When I asked if there was an issue she has worked particularly hard to bring to her husband’s attention, she replied, “The attention that he’s focussed on work-family balance. . . . That is our life. To the extent that we have challenges, and struggles, headaches that everybody else is going through . . . those are our conversations.” (Barack has candidly chronicled their struggle “to balance work and family in a way that’s equitable to Michelle and good for our children,” and its toll on their marriage.) Her frame of reference can seem narrow. When she talks about wanting “my girls to travel the world with pride” and the decline of America “over my lifetime,” you wonder why her default pronoun is singular if the message is meant to be concern for others and inclusiveness.
And again, there’s another lengthy description of how hard life is, even groceries:
Then, having given thoughtful but boilerplate responses most of the morning, Obama suddenly departed from her script. It was the most animated I saw her on the campaign trail. “You know,” she said, “in my household, over the last year we have just shifted to organic for this very reason. I mean, I saw just a moment in my nine-year-old’s life—we have a good pediatrician, who is very focussed on childhood obesity, and there was a period where he was, like, ‘Mmm, she’s tipping the scale.’ So we started looking through our cabinets. . . . You know, you’ve got fast food on Saturday, a couple days a week you don’t get home. The leftovers, good, not the third day! . . . So that whole notion of cooking on Sunday is out. . . . And the notion of trying to think about a lunch every day! . . . So you grab the Lunchables, right? And the fruit-juice-box thing, and we think—we think—that’s juice. And you start reading the labels and you realize there’s high-fructose corn syrup in everything we’re eating. Every jelly, every juice. Everything that’s in a bottle or a package is like poison in a way that most people don’t even know. . . . Now we’re keeping, like, a bowl of fresh fruit in the house. But you have to go to the fruit stand a couple of times a week to keep that fruit fresh enough that a six-year-old—she’s not gonna eat the pruney grape, you know. At that point it’s, like, ‘Eww!’ She’s not gonna eat the brown banana or the shrivelledy-up things. It’s got to be fresh for them to want it. Who’s got time to go to the fruit stand? Who can afford it, first of all?”
A few paragraphs later:
The Obamas’ financial standing has risen sharply in the past three years, largely as a result of the money Barack earned from writing “The Audacity of Hope.” In 2005, their income was $1.67 million, which was more than they had earned in the previous seven years combined. “Our lives are so close to normal, if there is such a thing when you’re running for President,” Michelle has said. “When I’m off the road, I’m going to Target to get the toilet paper, I’m standing on soccer fields, and I think there’s just a level of connection that gets lost the further you get into being a candidate.”
Just after Barack was elected to the United States Senate, Michelle received a large pay increase—from $121,910 in 2004 to $316,962 in 2005. “Mrs. Obama is extremely overpaid,” one citizen wrote in a letter to the editor of the Tribune, after the paper published a story questioning the timing of the award. “Now, what is the real reason behind such an inflated salary?” Her bosses at the University of Chicago Hospitals vigorously defended the raise, pointing out that it put her salary on a par with that of other vice-presidents at the hospital. (As it happens, Obama has spent most of her life working within the two institutions for which she most frequently claims a populist disdain: government and the health-care system.)
I read the following and finally understood why Hillary’s carrying the “beer drinkers” and Obama’s carrying the “wine drinkers.”
More troubling to the Obamas’ image of civic rectitude is their entanglement with a campaign contributor named Antoin (Tony) Rezko in a 2005 real-estate deal. (Rezko is now awaiting trial on corruption charges.) That year, as the Tribune reported, the Obamas moved to a $1.65-million Georgian Revival mansion in Hyde Park, which features a thousand-bottle wine cellar and bookcases made of Honduran mahogany.
Again, if you need any sense of the friendliness of this profile, note sentences like this one:
Wright espouses a theology that seeks to reconcile African-American Christianity with, as he has written, “the raw data of our racist existence in this strange land.” The historical accuracy of that claim is incontestable. But his message is more confrontational than may be palatable to some white voters. In his book “Africans Who Shaped Our Faith”—an extended refutation of the Western Christianity that gave rise to “the European Jesus . . . the blesser of the slave trade, the defender of racism and apartheid”—he says, “In this country, racism is as natural as motherhood, apple pie, and the fourth of July. Many black people have been deluded into thinking that our BMWs, Lexuses, Porsches, Benzes, titles, heavily mortgaged condos and living environments can influence people who are fundamentally immoral.”
The third to last paragraph:
Back in the Explorer, I asked Obama if she thought that her husband, as the Democratic nominee, could take John McCain. “Oh, yeah. We got him,” she replied.
I realize we shouldn’t expect anything but confidence in a candidate’s spouse’s answer… but we’ll see.

How can a Sane Person vote for Senator McCain when it will mean the continuation of the IRAQ WAR?
BUSH, CHENEY, POWELL and RICE are responsible for more than 7000 DEATHS of our citizens and Service Men and Women.
First by losing track of and not focusing on Bin Laden they directly aided the TERRORIST in their attack on the WORLD TRADE CENTER on 911 brutally slaughtering several thousand people.
They weren’t focusing on Bin Laden because they were busy cooking up phony evidence that fooled most of the World into supporting the Iraq War whick has killed several thousand more.
Now you want to elect McCain who will focus on continuing the phony war instead of Bin Laden who continues to plot further death and destruction.
HOW MANY MORE Service Men and Women must be sent to their deaths in Iraq to satisfy you BUTCHERS?
PRINCE HARRY ISN’T ALONE: AMERICA MEDIA CONCEALED MCCAIN SON’S SERVICE IN IRAQ
HEY HILLARY…..WE AMERICANS HATE TO BOTHER YOU, BUT WHERE ARE YOUR INCOME TAX RECORDS THAT YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD RELEASE AFTER THE MARCH 4TH PRIMARIES?
OBAMA HAS BEEN TRANSPARENT IN RELEASING HIS RECORDS AND BECMING PUBLIC RECORDS. wHAT ARE YOU HIDING AND CONCEALING?
AMERICA WANTS CHANGE, NOT THE STATUS QUO POLITICS YOU BRING TO THE TABLE.
IF YOU CANT BE HONEST WITH YOUR TAXES….WHY SHOULD WE TRUST YOU WITH OUR NATIONAL ISSUES?
HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY. OBAMA ‘08
Not just tax records. How about the the Whitehouse records so the Quote 35 years of experence can be verified.
McCain & Hillary = illuminati
I don’t know if they’ll experience but I bet we get some good decorating tips
Michael in Atlanta,
McCain and the republicans will reinstate the draft!
obama supporters is that all you can come up with in response to the a** whipping on tuesday is “Hillary where is your tax returns”? Give America a break!
When we see a NASTY or UNTRUE comment about Senator Obama or Senator Clinton, we know it’s a Republican making the comment.
When we see a nasty or untrue comment about Senator McCain, now thay Gomer Pyle is out, we know it’s a Democrat.
In the case of Obama and Clinton, their supporter are totally aware that there’s a line that can’t be crossed and still expect the support of the other side.
Not that there isn’t serious friction between them but they will sooner or later reconcile their differences or face defeat.
Too bad for the Democrats to lose Huckabee and his backstabbing loonies with the BABY Killer and POW RAT labels he tagged McCain with. Has anyone seen any of that lately. Good ridance to bad rubbish. And gomer wants to be VP no way! no How!
My choice would be Lindsay Graham. He’s conservative, will do great on the trail and in the debates. His reputation is immpecable. will attract large amounts of donations.
So when you call Hillary, Barack or John a snake or come around with the Hussein, Monica or the he’s a Liberal remarks know full well you have just identified yourself as a member of the other party.
PETER PAUL where is mary?
PETER PAUL and MIKE are Rpublicans
POP is an Obama supporter
Sean the thinker is SEAN the LIAR.
Just vote Hilary is a Republican
See how it works?
to Hillary R. Clinton for President
The tax return question is a fair one. Hillary supporters want to beat up on Obama over rezko
and his finance questions. Why can’t she put her finance record out there. It dose look like she is hiding something. Also why is she being sued for filing false campaign fund reports
I also want to see The Whitehouse records that could prove or disprove all her experience. But those can’t seem to make it to light.
Democrats are in trouble because their choice is left and lefter, not because they are fighting. here is the problem:1. If obama wins the nomination, he will not pick Hillary as a running mate. People are not only voting for Hillary, but also agaist obama. undoubtedly, obama will choose a man to repay the favors of the old male democratic establishment who are supporting him! with that move he will loose a portion of Hillary’s female voters(how big is the question), older hispanics, and some seniors (how big is the question). If Hillary wins she will be forced to add obama to the ticket. We all can agree that this ticket could not win, because that would be a left/lefter ticket. Hillary and obama attracts the same type of liberel voter. Either must have someone on the ticket to attract moderate and conservative voters!

Thats what i said last night. the only winners tues. night was republicans. because at this point who ever wins there going to anger half the demacratic party. and make it almost impossible for the demacratic nominee to win in nov.

I do not see how they fix it?
Exactually! at this point I don’t see how they can.
It’s nice having two seeminly well Qualified well like candididates. or so people thought. It’s turning into a train wreck.
I am of a mind to pay attention to the retired military among us. I am especially inclined to pay close attention to those who have actually placed their bodies in harms way.
When I compiled this list, I had intended to include data about command experience, combat decorations and other items that seem relevant to me. I very quickly realized that such a catalog would completely overwhelm the simple message I think the list tells.
The number of critical combat unit command assignments accumulated by these people is staggering. It ranges from Platoon Leader to Ship and Task Force commands up to the Joint Chiefs. As for the combat decorations, you could sink a battleship with the weight of medals these men carry on their chests.
With a single exception, all names below are retired persons who have achieved one star rank or greater in the US armed forces. I will leave it to you to draw your own conclusions. I would ask that you read the research notes at the end so you can better understand how I compiled this.
Some of the listed names will have the note NR next to the name. Often you’ll see it next to the names of people with 20-30 years of combat ready commands. NR means that I haven’t been able to include or exclude combat experience or simply cannot find any records at all.

Research notes:
My single starting point was google. That generated several other sources I was able to reference consistently. You can back check every item if you wish. Some won’t be easy to find, but if you try, you’ll get there.
The easiest to track are the Marines. They have a very complete database of living retired flag rank officers. After that, the Navy guys have a lot of records floating around. The Air Force has a limited list of biographies (seems to be voluntary) and the Army has blocked its database access to all but military members, family and special authorizations.
Where I can verify a lack of combat experience, it is stated. The opposite is true as well. There are a large number of personal whose records don’t offer enough info to make a determination. Often, they are listed with numerous combat ready commands (Aircraft Carrier, Armored Brigade, Submarine, etc) but no way to trace deeper.
In some cases I was able to find lists of awards and medals. Some decorations can be awarded only for combat situations but the lack of such decorations does do exclude participation in combat. In other cases, the subject popped up in a military literature reference of combat only hinted at in the official record. One Admiral with no indication of combat experience in his public record had served several missions on 2 different subs in the Pacific during WWII and been very much in the thick of things. In his official record, it was a buried footnote.
So, many of the listed names will have the note NR next to the name. Often you’ll see it next to the names of people with 20-30 years of combat ready commands. NR means that I haven’t been able to include or exclude combat experience or simply cannot find any records at all.
Then add in Florida and Michagin. Howard dean said this morning that a redo at this point was impossible. And the more I read about it the more I see a republican agenda. Republican GOV.
and republican lead house in FL. were the ones who moved up the election date. Now there calling for a redo so that it will look like someone tried to steal the nomination. Thus splitting the demacratic party. It’s almost a crime. But I will say Michigan is the demacrats fault.
On the crime part some will call it that others will call it a wonderfull political move. depends on what side your on

——————————————————————
Uh, excuse me, but you are just plain wrong.
There is no law anywhere, nor has there ever been, that forces candidates to release their tax forms. It has been a common practice for quite a few years, but it is totally voluntary.
We do know that she and Slick have filed joint returns for a while. Her problem is that if the returns are made public, we will be able to see just how much money Slick has been “earning” from offshore sources. Like….Dubai….Saudi Arabia…..you seeing a problem here?
She also needs to hide them because she will get spanked for that loan she gave her campaign. All available records indicate that her personal AFTER TAX earnings since Slick left office have been less that the total she loaned to the campaign. That means some of the money came from Slick and that is ILLEGAL.
mike I read somewhere that 30 million people consider themselves religious conservative and identify themselves as Reagan conservatives. Fiscal conservative, Social Conservative, and conservative foreign agenda. Now with that McCain is 2/3 and Hillary and obama are 0/3.

That’s because there are none. The only thing she did while in Slick’s White House was the Hillary Care debacle.
What a circus!. Closed door meetings with socialized medicine advocates only and the press and insurance industry people barred. Public hearings scheduled so the socialized care witnesses were on mike and camera during the day, in time for press deadlines, then, insurance industry officials and others scheduled AFTER press deadlines so their testimony never made it into print or airwaves.
Oops. Almost forgot. She has a ton of experience of keeping bimbo eruptions to a minimum.
to Andylit
BINGO. but I thought they were required to show tax returns when the General election campaighn starts. Thats something Hillary said in one of the Debates.
