Hillary Watching, Waiting on Florida and Michigan
Hillary Clinton told reporters she’s still committed to seating the delegations from Florida and Michigan at the Democratic convention in August — but that she’s “watching with great interest to see what the leadership in both states puts forth.”
“I’m going to let the leadership of both states see what they think is the best approach. I think that it would be a grave disservice to the voters of Florida and Michigan to adopt any process that would disenfranchise anyone,” she said.
FL sen Bill Nelson has asked the DNC to pony up $18million to fund a new primary election, in part because the national committee was too harsh on the state for what was essentially the GOP-controlled state government’s decision to move the primary to Jan 29. Sen Clinton agrees with that assessment. “If you look at what happened in Florida, the Republican governor, the Republican legislature called the shots, set the time. The Democrats really had no choice. And I don’t think they should be punished because of that.”
Clinton addressed the Florida issue in a cabinet meeting-style sitdown with 12 military officials and senior foreign policy types to talk about Afghanistan — laying out her plan to add more international troops through NATO. Much like those cabinet meetings, she addressed the press at the top then kicked us out to continue the session in private.
Before that happened, however, reporters asked whether she agreed with her communications director Howard Wolfson’s comparison of the Obama to Clinton investgator Ken Starr — after his campaign threatened to start raising past Clinton controversies. “I’m not going to respond to that,” she said dimissively, asking the next reporter “what’s your question?”

We really need to seat those delegates, and we need to keep Senator Clinton in the race.
Obama has been riding on a bubble with the press giving him a free ride, i have no doubt that he is overall a decent man, but has never actually done much…he seems to have starting running for a higher office as soon as he gets one, resulting in him doing nothing since he’s so busy running. Kinda leaves nothing for the press to sink their teeth into.
Only way to make a mistake is to do something.
Since all he does is run for offices he’s gotten pretty good at it.

If Howard Dean and the DNC want tax payers to pay for a re-do, does anyone know a good attorney? I am a registered Independant. This would be a mis-use I my already too high of a tax. Maybe they should get registered Democrates from Pueto Rico who have never been to this country that can vote. I was born and raised here but can’t vote. But Dean wants my tax dollars to pay for it? If they can’t follow election rules, just imagine what rules, or laws, they will break if elected.

If Obama was losing are asking for the delegates to be counted you would be demanding that they do so.
Also, not counting the votes for Michigan and Florida is unconstitutional. Nobody can take away our right to vote and be counted regardless of what dumb creative rules have been written by the DNC.

I am a Hillary supporter and I believe that the delegates do NOT need to be seated. Everyone voted on it before hand.
I do think they should let the votes count towards the popular vote. Not seating the delegates is okay but not allowing the votes to count towards the popular vote is a smack in the face to the people that came out and voted.
Even another primary in both states would work if the states want to pay for it.
Did they not all agree to this last year? I do not understand how they are going to get themselves out of this

I am not sure what all the discussion is about on this topic. It is common sense that Florida’s votes should stand as they were cast. All the candiates were on the ballot in Florida and none of the candiates campaigned in Florida. The vote was done fair and should not be done over. The people of Florida spoke through their votes. Now as for Michigan the candiates had a option to put their names on the ballot. Hillary Clinton placed her name on the ballot and Barack Obama decided not too. Maybe this says it all—maybe this is the first step in American Politics for Obama. Sounds as though Hillary was one up on him with a better understanding of America. I say let both states count as they stand now. The good people of these states went to the polls and cast their votes once and should not be ask to do it again.

They will vote for the candidate with the best chance to win in November. obama is the one trying to “change” the rules by insisting that the superdelegates to vote for the leader in pledge delegates. I just read that they are talking about having a “firehouse” voting style in MI and now the Clinton’s who have fought so hard to have these delegates seated are giving in. This, I believe, would be constitutional as each state can decide if any candidate has met the requirements to appear on a ballot. I’m pretty sure that both of these states have rules that were broken by not allowing proper representation.

Ron let me give you some facts. Ohio has 4 large cities. Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati. These cities hold the most delegates. These cities are predominately black. These four cities/counties are the only place in Ohio Obama won. Hillary took the rest of the state. Now, I know he has taken the grassroot states also; however, that is not the case since the new information came out about Obama. Have you ever stop to listen as to how the media refers to Hispanics verse blacks. It is sad. What I am saying is that the Media of today does not ask those difficult questions to Obama. Obama has always taken the majority of the black vote, half of the white, half of white men, and a quarter of the white women. That change is this last primary. He lost a quarter of his white male vote and some of his white women vote. (This is what was reported). Now my issue is why are we having this kind of reporting anyway. If there is no difference between blacks and whites (which I believe) than Obama is just a inexperience MAN. So he should be treated exactly like any other man. But, that is not what is happening in the primary. He is being treated with kid gloves so not to offend. It is sad that we have come so far but, really we have not.

Why is it that everyone is just thinking about the voters in Florida and Michigan who are not going to have their votes count because of the rules that the democratic party put in place. All of the other voters in the other states were aware that the votes in Florida and Michigan wouldn’t count - that was the rule. This was a factor in determinig the candidate that I voted for at the time. How many other people voted in their states taking this factor into account? If there is a “do-over” in Florida and Michigan, why wouldn’t there have to be a “do-over” everywhere?

As a Floridian I was told by the state and every local news agency that our votes did not count. I and many of my friends did not vote because it was not going to count. Not real sure why we can’t designate one day, say March 1st, as a national primary election day whereby both parties vote for their candidate on the same day. It would eliminate the media exploiting our vote and perhaps give us one clear candidate for each party. I find it appallingly consistent where liberals wish to control every aspect of our lives but when it comes back to bite them on their butts, they want to change the rules or point fingers at someone other then themselves for their failures. It wasn’t obscene enough for the all knowing all powerful DNC to dictate what laws the states of Florida and Michigan can pass thereby totaling ignoring state’s rights, they punish these two states for having the audacity to set new dates for their presidential primaries by disenfranchise the voters of these two states. Now, to avoid a blood bath at the Democratic National Convention, the DNC is seeking to have Florida and Michigan hold another primary, ignoring their own dictates not to seat their delegates. To hold another election is tasteless to the people of Florida and Michigan because there’s been no DNC money for complete payment for holding such a repeat elections. The other alternative to seat the delegates at this late date is even more unacceptable to the two liberal candidates who went along with the DNC’s dictatorial edict. Like all of the liberal-led and failed entitlements invoked with good intentions, this latest incursion into American lives also is a total failure. When will they ever learn? More importantly, when will Americans learn that giving up any piece of one’s freedom for a free ride is a failure to them and another failure to our great country?
I just can’t understand why we, the American people, are so easily influenced by the media. Are we that simple minded as to allow our support for a candidate waiver because the media represnts the election in favor of one person over the other? I mean really, look what’s happened on the democratic side. Hillary was a shoe in until the media slanted the election and propelled Obama to an insurmountable lead. Now, like the idiots they are, they are bashing Barack and like the morons we are we sway back to Hillary.
Bottom line is your candidate originally won your support for a particular reason, well that’s if you’re educated, and nothing should change that until your candidate is out of the running.
Hillary is 60 and looks fantastic, Barak is starting to look really haggard. How would he ever handle the stress of being the president. And how we he handle the Larry Sinclair mess when that starts coming out in the open. Mr. Perfect is done.

It bothers me when I hear people say, “Hillary should drop out of the race”, because she is behind in delegates.
Well…why didn’t these same people ask Obama to drop out of the race when he was behind by the same amount of delegates?
Double-standard for Obama and his campaign, it’s really transparent to me.
The people of Florida did nothing to cause this. If this was a foreign country not counting a block of their citizen’s votes, the United States would be all over it!
The Florida DNC told all Democrats to go out and vote anyway.
There was a record turn out. All candidates were on the ballot and all over the T.V. and newspapers so no one was in the dark about who was running.
Just count them as they are and maybe toss in a few mail in ballots for those who were too stupid to vote.
The Gop legislature and governor sent this whole thing in motion.
I am conservative so my view on this may not mean much to most of you, but I firmly believe the Florida primary should stand and be counted and if needed the Michigan primary can be redone. Everyone should be able to vote. This is not the head of the PTA rather the President or at least the nominee for same we’re voting for.
