McCain clinches nomination: “I will not let you down”
Dallas, TX — It might have seemed nearly unimaginable only six months ago but Sen. John McCain officially won the GOP nomination Tuesday night after triumphant victories in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont.
“Now, we begin the most important part of our campaign: to make a respectful, determined and convincing case to the American people that our campaign and my election as President, given the alternatives presented by our friends in the other party, are in the best interests of the country we love,” McCain said before about 500 supporters at a victory party in Dallas. “The contest begins tonight. It will have its ups and downs. But we will fight every minute of every day to make certain we have a government that is as capable, wise, brave and decent as the great people we serve. That is our responsibility and I will not let you down.”
While he used victory speeches in recent weeks as a launching pad to strike his Democratic rivals, McCain focused most of tonight’s address on his vision for the country.
“Nothing is inevitable in America. We are the captains of our fate. We’re not a country that prefers nostalgia to optimism; a country that would rather go back than forward. We’re the world’s leader, and leaders don’t pine for the past and dread the future. We make the future better than the past. We don’t hide from history. We make history,” McCain said. “I understand the responsibilities I incur with this nomination, and I give you my word, I will not evade or slight a single one. Our campaign must be, and will be more than another tired debate of false promises, empty sound-bites, or useless arguments from the past that address not a single American’s concerns for their family’s security.”
Campaign Manager Rick Davis told reporters afterward that he was ecstatic about the victory, noting that they were “smallest campaign in history,” to win the nomination. Though he was also realistic about the prospects McCain faces against the more energized, better financed Democrats, arguing that they face another uphill climb to win in November.
He was also split on whether the prospect of a prolonged Democratic fight was good for McCain. While Davis acknowledged that the campaign would be able to raise more money if they had one rival and the ongoing race keeps them out of the headlines, he added that “if they spend all their money beating each other up, that is pretty good for us.”
McCain heads to Washington Wednesday morning to receive the endorsement of President Bush at the White House and address the Republican National Committee. Davis said the campaign is energized to be “drinking out of the firehose” that the RNC apparatus now provides—including fundraising infrastructure, voter research and polling data as well as a rapid response shop.

What a sad day for the Republican party!
McCain Huckabee
The winning team for 2008
I will hold my nose and vote for McCain (not popular with our large Republican club here in Washington State we just attended). If Huckabee were added to the ticket–another tax and spend liberal with all those ethics violations– we all agreed we will vote for Hillary. Obama is another matter so we might just abstain rather than voting for a Socialist who is Left of Lenin.
Mitt Romney as VP might bring back the fiscal conservatives to support this ignominious ticket, but Huckster Huckabee (who was listed with Barak and Hillary on Judicial Review’s list of the “Ten Most Wanted CORRUPT politicians of 2007″
is crude cross between Elmer Gantry and Boss Hog–corrupt to the core with ever a hand out for donations!
Want to know why any ticket with Huckabee on it will NOT win the presidency?
Go to http://www.stopbigots.com. Very enlightning. No one will ever win the presidency of the US again without the Western States and no one will ever win the Western States by offending and lying about the Mormon population and their beliefs.
http://WWW.STOPBIGOTS.COM
At least we finally got rid of that pesky Huckabee!!!
Huck we know you have enjoyed all the television lime light, but YOU HAVE BEEN VOTED OFF THE ISLAND!! You and your Geee Tar didn’t make the cut and you are NOT THE AMERICAN IDOL!!
We all know you lost some weight before the Presidential run, but it is now official YOU ARE THE BIGGEST LOOSER!!!
Good riddance to bad rubbish!!!
http://www.stopbigots.om
Mr. Huckabee it was a honor to support you. You are a man of integrity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having the courage to stand for the unborn and marriage. You have inspired me to never falter in my faith…to always vote for morals. Your CPAC, Values Voters and Pastors and Pews speeches
were amazing! I have longed to find a pastor or anyone to speak about God, America and our Fore Father’s the way you did. Pastors and churchs need to be more like you and not be silent! Let us all learn something from this. You fought the good fight!! No Compromise!! Thank you
If God if for us, who then can be against us?
marie thomson …you are the looser here and you should be ashamed of yourself. I can tell you are a person of weak character!
Huckabee 2012!
marie thomson …your one spiteful person…how dare you accuse Huckabee of using this run for his own gain! You don’t know his heart. What kind of person with any kind of character brings up someones weight? Your a sad person! Huckabee has worked harder than ANYONE else running. He ran for the true conservitives and the unborn!
Marie…no one likes you here…go to bed!
Mr. McCain, you already have let me down…but I and a lot of other people would forgive you if you would repeal that disastrous letdown you call campaign finance reform. Give us back the first amendment!
Well ..it is said that you sleep in the bed that you make……Congratulations because of all you people with your selfish care for no one but your self, in the belief that everything should be given to you because your to dam lazy to get off your ass and work, or you think you should be able to sit on you couch and smoke dope, or because you are to dam stupid to get a job for more than minimum wage, because you were to dam stupid to do well in school you think the government should give you money for food and housing and any other need you cant get for your self, or because your life has such little meaning, you have to stand for issues that allows millions of other people into this country who have even less skills than you have, into this country, like parasites sucking the life out of everything around it and spreading disease where ever they may go, you hurt this country just so you can look your self in the mirror and feel good about your self because no one else gives a dam if you live or die.
Congratulations you got McCain ( A Democrat ) It should have been a clue, anyone that, that Idiot Kennedy likes is someone we shouldn’t vote for. Anyone who is for allowing 30+ million people to enter this country illegally and then offer them amnesty doesn’t deserve our vote, anyone who lets 30+ million people enter this country and makes us pay for all their medical bills, food, housing and education doesn’t deserve our vote. Why does he do it? He don’t care, He lives on a big hill looking down, he doesn’t have to live next to any of those 30+ million people he is in favor of letting in to this country, he has guards at his homes to keep him safe and keep members of that 30+ million people from breaking into his house and robbing him blind, or selling dope to one of his grandchildren and school, his family goes to private schools. He doesn’t have to worry about if he has enough money to fill his car with gas to get to work in the morning.
Because you don’t give a dam about your neighbor, your community or your country you put a person in the position that might be the leader of this country, who sure as hell doesn’t give a dam about you, who is more concerned with how much more he can get for himself, family or friends.
So in a year when your pissed off about not having any money, and your welfare benefits are running out because there is no one or nothing left to tax the hell out of to support your ass. rather than looking in the mirror and patting your self on the back because you try to make your insignificant life have meaning or worth, call someone over, turn around and have them kick you in the ass for being a idiot.
Cheer!
Now we can be relatively comfortable knowing neither Hillary Clinton or Barrack “I surrender” Obama will throw away our soldiers efforts.
McCain is an absolute disgrace to conservatism. Conservatism 08′.
Congrats to McCain. And as for that pesky marie thomson, she is an idiot. and no American would want to be near her. What a pinko ! Many in this country still know how to stand up for values of integrity, hard work, and conservative government. Huckabee is one of them, and he is to be commended and congratulated. It is only a matter of time before the country realizes that Obama is a liberal disaster, and Hillary isn’t far away from his liberal positions on the issues. Vote for McCain in November, and keep on praying for the U. S. of A.
Does anyone take ann colter seriously? I’m sorry but am I the only one that thinks that she looks like a man?
O.K. neocons, take your meds the party’s over! lol

Hell anyone who frequents these blogs knows I am a Republican…Ann Coulter is a complete dingbat propagandist and anyone who thinks she operates on more than a brain stem is in danger of photosynthesizing.
What a sorry lot to choose from: McCain, Clinton, Obama. Guess I’ll just stay home in November and let the chips fall where they may. God help us all!

oh good…then you will be voting for McCain since Obama has voted 19 times against legislation to strengthen our borders and Hillary voted against the same legislation 18 times. McCain…only twice. And also because both Hillary and Obama voted to give taxpayer funds to entitlements for illegals aliens twice….McCain voted against that legislation both times. Both Hillary and Obama voted twice to give money to illegal aliens for education and college expenses…..how many times did McCain vote in favor of that? Never.
Both Obama and Hillary voted to allow those convicted of a terrorist act against the United States or our military to have citizenship. McCain voted no.
Quit listening to the propaganda and look at the voting records. If you want to support someone who says “you can bomb us and kill our soldiers and we’ll give you citizenship and even Social Security” then vote Hillary or Obama. If not vote McCain.
Scott919, you especially need your meds! Republican/neocon whichever just follow the directions on the pill bottle and have a good night.
Oh and Michael….quit listening to Ann Coulter. She’s a propagandist with the intelligence of a cabbage. Try doing some research on your own.

Am I the only one who feels that Huckabee was staying in the race to see if Mccain had the stamina to pull off a Presidential Campain? How old will he be on Election Day, 72? I have nothing against seniors but come on neocons, you couldn’t do better than this?

71 actually. Reagan was about the same age and he did just fine. I do find it interesting however how the liberals always point at McCain’s age but when the GOP says anything negative about Hillary or Obama it’s fear based.
Scott919 :
Though I feel your intentions are good, you can not be serious by insinuating that McCain is tough on illegal immigration. YOu then stated “Both Obama and Hillary voted to allow those convicted of a terrorist act against the United States or our military to have citizenship. McCain voted no.” One, that is an outrages comment and let me assure you I do not agree with what any of those socialist believe, but that is not true or at least the context you used. second, John McCain and Mike Huckabee wanted to close down Gitmo. Where did they want to hold these disgusting creatures who are killing our men and women on the battlefield. They both oppose waterboarding knowing we received valuble information that saved millions of Americans lives.
McCain wanted and still said he would sign his amnesty bill that was co-authored by Kenndedy. I’m sorry, but I just can not jump on that wagon as McCain has comprised conservative principles to step across the aisle. Do you think he would be any different as President? To say illegal immigration has nothing to do with National security is naieve. McCain needs to stay on the other side of aisle, then again republicans elected him. So it shows us the direction of where this party is heading.

“Tough” is a matter of perspective. Compared to Hillary and Obama…yes he is “tough”. Compared to those who want to round up every nanny and lettuce picker and toss them on their butt south of the Rio Grande I suppose he’s a wimp.
Deejay: I am assuming you are a Ron Paul supporter, because he and his supporters love to use the word neocon all the time. If you are, that is okay as there were alot of ideas that I liked of his. As you can tell I am no Republican bootlicker so I like to hear others thoughts. In all seriousness, what is your definition of a neocon? Please keep it to a minimum though and please do not post a website or a article. I want to hear it straight from the heart.
DPG:
Huckabigot doesn’t have a chance in h*ll of becoming McCain’s VP. Huckaphony has made himself one of the most hated politicians in a long time and he comes with tons of baggage, such as being listed on Judicial Watch’s list of most corrupt politicians of 2007. And Huckafool’s family has animal cruelty in it (Huck’s son tortured a dog to death). McCain has dogs, a cat, a ferret, birds, turtles and fish–obviously he is an animal lover–most animal lovers loath people who can be cruel to the most innocent among us–children and animals. My guess is McCain probably can’t stand Huckster-bee either.
I thank God that many people saw the light in time to prevent Huckabigot from further inflating his ego and damaging our country. Good riddance to you Huckabee–you were one of the worst nightmares I ever had.

Millions? Please support that with documentation. Actually support that it saved one life with documentation. Because most research shows pretty conclusively that the VAST majority of the time torture creates terrorists and martyrs

Very well….here’s Obama and Hillary’s voting record on terrorism, homeland security, and illegal immigration. McCain voted the opposite way on the VAST majority of these votes. I have notated Hillary’s lone opposition vote.
Voted against allocating funds for terrorism prevention activities, including rail and transit security. (vote #00185, 2005)
Voted to block passage of a bill to extend and modify authorities needed to combat terrorism. (vote #00358, 2005)
Voted against transferring funds allocated to relief for nations found guilty of human rights violations to additional funding for border security. (vote #0073, 2006)
Voted against providing emergency funding for border security efforts. (vote #0094, 2006)
One of only 16 Senators to vote against increasing the amount of fencing and improving vehicle barriers installed along the southwest border of the United States. (vote #00126, 2006) Hillary voted yes on this one.
Voted to provide funds for health care and educational services to non-citizens and illegal aliens. (vote #00133, 2006)
Voted against legislation to protect United States citizens from election ballots being cast illegally by non-United States citizens and illegal aliens. (vote #00143, 2006)
Voted against ensuring the integrity of the Earned Income Tax Credit program by reducing the potential for fraud and to ensure that aliens who receive an adjustment of this status under this bill meet their obligation to pay back taxes without creating a burden on the American public. (vote #00155, 2006)
Voted against assistance for pro-democracy programs and activities inside and outside Iran. (vote #00172, 2006)
Voted against the position of no amnesty for terrorists who have attacked U.S. forces. (vote #00177, 2006)
Voted against funding to construct double-layered fencing and vehicle barriers along the southwest border and to offset such increase by reducing earmarks. (vote #00200, 2006)
Voted against funding to enable the Secretary of Homeland Security to hire investigators to investigate immigration laws violations. (vote #00201, 2006)
Voted against legislation that would improve Homeland Security by requiring that foreign ports scan all containers shipped to the United States for nuclear and radiological weapons before loading. (vote #00248, 2006)
Voted against promoting information sharing between federal and local law enforcement officials related to an individual’s immigration status. (vote #00177, 2007)
Voted against the establishment of permanent penalties for gang members, terrorists, and other criminals. (vote #00187, 2007)
Voted against prohibiting taxpayer dollars being allocated to entitlements for temporary workers or illegal aliens. (vote #00192, 2007)
Voted against requiring the enforcement of existing border security and immigration laws before amnesty can be granted to illegal aliens. (vote #00202, 2007)
Voted against providing additional procedures for authorizing certain acquisitions of foreign intelligence information. (vote #00309, 2007)
Voted against increased funding for States under the State Homeland Security Grant Program. (vote #0063, 2007)
Now….dude….I know the propaganda on the “amnesty bill” has been widespread. Look at what you are endorsing as an alternative
Scott919 : You are a disgrace. You phony conservatives always love to use that line “Compared to those who want to round up every nanny and lettuce picker and toss them on their butt south of the Rio Grande I suppose he’s a wimp.”
Maybe you can explain to us why you support a man who has hired Juan Hernandez to his campaign? I am sure a phony like you has no clue who this man is, so let me enlighten your mind. Juan Hernandez is a dual citizen of Mexico and was in Vicente Foxes cabinet. He was an organizer of the marches that took place in our major cities where illegals and legal citizens waived their Mexican flags right in our face. He is in aliance with La Raza, translated “The Race” who sole purpose is open borders. People like you are the very reason why the Republican party is in shambles. So I guess you would like a phony candidate like McCain.
Scott: Get off your websites and actually form an intelligent thought. I could go to any website that does not like McCain and can provide you the same kind of facts showing his disgraceful record as a Senator. I know you are a professional copy and paster, but I would really like to hear in your own words why you support McCain.
American Conservative charges foolishly…
Maybe you can explain to us why you support a man who has hired Juan Hernandez to his campaign? I am sure a phony like you has no clue who this man is,<<<
I know exactly who he is….I know what La Raza is…yeah I know. I’m also not stupid enough to think that the United States is going to do what the conservative hard-liners want to do and habe a nation wide round-up. Our moral authority (what is left of it) in the world would plummet. You are talking Night of the Broken Glass stuff there, dude. You DO know what THAT was right? I also know that while I am not overly thrilled with McCain’s position and believe he could be tougher, Hillary and Obama’s position is unbelievably softer and unlike many I have taken the time to research the voting records to see what the history is instea of listening to CNN, MSNBC, Sean Hannity, Paul Begala, Alan Colmes, Ann Coulter, etc and just “going with it”. Maybe you should do the same
american conservative asks…

Be happy to. First of all yes I copied and pasted….directly from notes I took off the website of the United States Senate when I actually took the time to research the candidates voting records. Sue me for doing my own research.
In my own words….there are several reasons. My most important issue is foreign policy…specifically Iraq and the petrodollar that must be protected if we wish to avoid a total economic collapse. I trust Obama on foreign policy like I trust a fanged adder not to bite me. Hillary is better but not by much. If we lose the petrodollar our economy will be laid to waste and at that point it won’t matter about “hope”, “change”, etc. We’ll be bankrupt and in a depression that could potentially make the Great Depression look like a Bull Market. Additionally, I have this thing about taxes….I don’t like them. McCain’s record is consistent about voting against them. I don’t think Obama or Hillary ever met a tax they didn’t like judging by their voting records. Want me to quote more of those or will you take my word for it this time? Furthermore, I have this thing about pork. Citizens Against Government Waste ranks McCain the #1 Congressman in regards to anit-pork voting. Obama is 59th, and Hillary is 76th…that bothers me. Shall I go on or is that enough?
It is obvious I am speaking to a man who suffers from the disorder of liberalism and would rather talk gently and rock terroist to sleep. With this kind of reasoning and logic, I am going to go bed.
I am sorry scotty, slitting throats, cutting off genitals, and burning our soldiers alive are forms of torture. Pouring water over a sub-humans nose and knowing that it he will live to see another day is not torture my book. Than again those things are not happening also are they scotty boy. I am good friends with a air force paratrooper who is providing me my information. Guys who are actually on the ground dealing with these scum bags. He is over 50 years old and is leading these brave men to save fallen soldiers.
I love when you said ” Because most research shows pretty conclusively that the VAST majority of the time torture creates terrorists and martyrs” I am glad you care more for the welfare of the terrorist than Americans. Who gave that theory, a NYU graduate fresh out of college. I am pretty sure they were already a terrorist or willing to sacrifice their own life before they were waterboarded. If you feel I need to give you a source for the information we received from Kalid Sheik Mohamed, then you are more looney than I thought. Try the American Military fool. Sorry, I am not going to call them liars as you will.
Again, I know you can not form a thought on your own, so I will let you go back to your McCain websites. By the way, I love how you try to sound intelligent by showing a vote number and then someones biased opinon of what that bill was. Why don’t you copy and paste the bill in its entirety, not just someones opinon of what that bill was. I am sure you would say McCains amnesty bill, was a comprehensive bill that was to secure our borders and then put a vote number next to it. Sorry, real conservatives see through your kind. You are a joke and are no different from the democrats. It is so funny to watch McCain try to appeal to us with his new found rhetoric as he looks so unatural as he delivers those speaches. Why did he not go to CPAC in years past. Don’t worry, I will wait while you go look that up on a website. Get a life and stand up for what has made this country great.
American conservative huffs….
You phony conservatives…<<<<
A couple last poonts before I go to bed…#1 don’t even call me a conservative. I’m a moderate which means I am not such a meglomaniac to believe that “my side” is always the “right side”.
People like you are the very reason why the Republican party is in shambles. <<<
And I would counter that arrogant hard-liners like you who have the “cooperation is an abomination” attitude, mixed with a bit of “with my last breath I spit at thee” hatred is why the GOP has a bad name right now.
Sleep well
This network is a joke
Are you serious? McCain voted twice against the Bush tax cuts. For a man who is so concerned with the economy, I find it interesting that you would be supporting a candidate who voted against tax cuts. But that was a media conspiracy theory also right. Even if there was spending in those tax cuts, without them we would not have so many more jobs created and had a flourishing economy. Yes, our economy is not looking all that well, a big part is because people over extended themselves in buying and selling real estate. And you had lenders giving away money to anyone who could fog a mirror. So you can not blame this mess on the tax cuts. With those tax cuts, companies have invested more and more. I agree, tax cuts are what make the economy great. Take a look at what is happening to Michigan. The legislators are taxing rather than tax cutting. And you are going to sit there and tell me that McCain did not vote against Bushes tax cuts. Wow, that is a pretty big stretch even for a guy like you.
In regards to illegal immigration, since you are a professional copy and paster, please show me where I have ever said we need to do the old round up. This is the scare tactics that disgraceful Juan Hernandez and La Raza use. You know very well, I have and no one who wants to be tough on immigration has ever proposed that. Then again, you love guys like Juan Hernandez and what they stand for so open borders is a concept you accept. Sorry, I do not. It is one thing to embrace cultures from other countries, it is another to have them replace ours with theirs. This is exactly what Juan Hernandez and his dispicable cronies are advocating. Then again, it does not bother you that this man is working for McCain. I have no problem of having a Hispanic outreach director as part of your campaign, it is another to have a open borders advocate working for you. Again, you find that perfectly exceptable. I can assure you if Fox actually did some responsible reporting and reported this story, McCain would have never been elected as the Republican nominee. There was no reporting of this story as most Americans not conservatives would be outraged.
So based upon what I have shared with you, how am I such a hard liner. Is it because I do not want terroist prisons here in the U.S.? Is it that I want to stop the herds of illegals crossing our borders everyday? Is it that I want to pour water down someones nose as the last resort knowing that it is a tactic that gets information and they will live to see another day? Sorry Scotty, I believe the American military when they say that it does work. Is it that I want to uphold the Bush tax cutts? Something that McCain has all of a sudden embraced. So Scotty where are the hard liner stances I have made? This is the very reason why this party is heading for disaster. No party can ever win an election without its base. By the way, are you seeing the numbers of democrats coming out to vote in these primaries compared to the republican side. It is going to be a slaughtering. Unfortunately, when we nominate a liberal, we always get beat. This party has never won by stepping across the aisle.
Ah, Scotty is a phony liberal who poses as moderate. Well, that is what the Republican party is now. A liberal party who thinks they are accomplishing something by reaching across the aisle. I think it is funny scotty that you think that is so admirable. Yet you claim to be a no tax, tough on terroism kind of guy. How does Russ Feingold and Ed Kennedy feel towards those issues? I know you love the amnesty bill and campaign finance reform, Gitmo shut down, outlawing successful interagation tactics, so what is the next comprimise scotty? I am sorry, but scare tactics are not going to work this go around. Did you not learn anything in 06 when we lost the house and senate by acting like liberal democrats. I will guarantee you that Obama or Hillary will win easily by double digit margin. Look at the numbers in Ohio, Texas, Nevada, and other battle ground states. And you know what, I could careless. McCain is no different than the other socialist. The democrats will never bring the troops home immediatley as they say. If they did there would be outrage from the U.S. military and no commander in chief is going to go against the military. It would be political suicide and because liberals are always concerned about being politically correct, they would never do it. They have to say this garbage to appease the base during the primary season. So your scare tactics are not going to work. On paper the only thing that is different is the war on Iraq. I already mentioned my thoughts on that. When it comes to judges, we would get moderates at best and we all know how moderates vote. However, you like moderate judges scotty so that would be right up your ally.
Again, I do not compramise my values by voting for a liberal man with a “R” next to his name. This is why I am no republican bootlicker like scotty and will not suscumb to fear tactics. I am a conservative American first, not a Republican. By the way, Rush, Hanity, Boortz do not represent me as they will all fall in lock step with this candidate. I have not even mentioned his disgracefull political attacks he did on Romney in Florida by saying blatant lies about his position on time tables in Iraq. But then again, you endorse that kind of tactics. So it makes sense why you can not form an intelligent thought all on your own and have to go copy and paste from a website. Sleep tight and sing a lullaby to Amadimiajad so he does not become a sucide bomber or terrorist.
This campaign is so reminiscent of the ‘76 race in several ways. First of all the Republicans nominee is the candidate who had a sense of “deserving” the nomination (e.g. Gerald Ford). Second of all Barack Obama who is a darling of the liberal media because he is “A Leader, For a Change” as said exactly in Jimmy Carter’s campaign slogan of 1976. Thirdly, an unpopular Republican who watered down the conservative movement George Bush now, and Nixon then, was elected twice and decreased steadily in popularity (although Nixon resigned after the second election).
The outcome of the 76′ election was the realization that Carter was all rhetoric and his policies weren’t the policies of America. It led to long lines at the gas pumps, which, with Obama’s energy policy will do the same with trying to get rid energy exploration in places like Alaska where they want to open ANWR; it led to unbelievable inflation, which, with Socialized Health Care we will be at soon; and it led to the weakening of America in the eyes of the world with the Iran Hostage Crisis, which, with Obama’s weak stance on fighting terrorism and his insistence to pull our troops (who are having tremendous success in Iraq) out, as a harbinger in promoting instability the rising Iraq and creating an aegis for terrorists there. The good news was what followed the Carter Presidency, 8 years of Ronald Reagan.
Reagan not only advanced conservative values more than any other president of the 20th century, he did it unabashedly, he articulated and framed the issue to show the superiority of conservaitve values over their liberal counterparts. Ronald Reagan took us out of the Carter Recession, got our troops back from Iran on the first day, and championed the Soviets in the Cold War. I believe that we should not have to sacrifice our values to receive a candidate who will do more to damage than to help the Republican Party if he gets into the oval office.
I feel that if we allow Obama to attain the oval office, for reasons stated before, he can do the damage to the Democratic party and we can reign in a conservative Republican in the Whitehouse in 2012. What we at the grassroots must focus on doing until then, is getting a Republican Congress and Republican Senate who will defeat liberals on conservative values and ideas rather than trying to be more liberal than them. If we are placid and allow the Republican party to be hijacked by RINO’s (Republican In Name Only) who focus on class warfare and believe socialism is the answer to our problems, then we can expect to lose to the Democrats who have already mastered that failed dogma.

Huckabee says that “only one explanation” fits his Iowa success “and it’s not a human one. It’s the same power that helped a little boy with two fish and five loaves feed a crowd of 5,000 people.” God so loves Huckabee’s politics that He worked a Midwest miracle on his behalf?
I guess God only works miracles in Iowa. Huck came to Iowa telling the humble folks to not let someone “buy” their vote. Iowa took the bait and welcomed a Huckster to the table of national politics. Now the rest of America gets to fight over the crumbs until november.
Thanks Huck for fighting the good fight. No one thanks you more today than one Mr. John McCain.
I want to say a special thanks to the republican party. Thanks on behalf of NC and my fellow Americans who will be holding their primaries and caucuses after March. Thank you for not giving me a choice. Thank you that my vote doesn’t count. Heck why even show up in May. Or maybe that’s the idea, who knows. Thanks to both parties for not giving all Americans a choice. As you can tell I am not at all happy with the current way we elect our canidates, for both parties. The current system caters to a number of corruptions. Lobbyst throw money behind the canidate who wins this primary or that primary. Party voters vote for the party frontrunner. Early primaries set the tone so to speak. What a joke our system is. Folks until both parties hold their primaries\caucuses on the same day of the election year there will always be Americans who have no choice. The very sanctity of their vote is stripped away from them. Russia’s elections are rigged? We need to look to ourselves and solve our problems before we go spouting off about how some other countries system is broken. We need to behold the beam that is in our own eye.
@American Conservative
Scott isn’t the phony, you are!
He’s countered everything you’ve said with facts, and yet you keep coming back with BS. What are you an Obama supporter?
McCain’s a good man. More important he is a better man than Obama, Clinton or Clinton’s wife (her name escapes me but she is getting a lot of press lately). If McCain picks up a well-known fiscal conservative, Republicans and Independents will flock to him.
McCain/Lloyd Hansen 2008
You are a LET Down. I will not hold my nose and vote for you. The republican party and you are down the tubes. I will hold my nose and vote Hillary in our primaries and write in Huckabee in the general. As far as the media, at least I don’t have to turn on Fox, CNN or MSNBC again. It will take much more than luck for McCain to win the presidency.

So you’ll be voting for a liberal lunatic then? Not voting is the same as voting for Obama or Hillary. Huckabee asked you to support the party nominee, because the alternative is a left-wing lunatic. We have to win not only the Presidency but we have to win a lot of races to make sure we don’t have the Dems sabotaging this country with lunatic ideas, like surrendering to terrorists.
This stuff’s better than sports! Dems. don’t stand a chance with
McCain no matter which one FINALLY clinches their parties nomination.
The Dems. process for choosing their candidates only highlights their
“complicated” nature and absurd way of doing things. The more
“infighting” the better the “score”. This decorated, Vietnam Vet
whose worked on both sides of the isle, which his “record” clearly
reflects, is the “change agent” we’ve all been wanting and “hoping”
for. This is a proven Maverick his own party could not completely
bridle because of the guts and courage in his every pore. Johns
courage and strength is only surpassed by his passion and willingness
to serve the Country he and his forefathers have. This man has a
“heritage’ of love for his Country, his family and his God. MCCAIN
2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look you accuse me of following the words of Ann Coulter, “Not So” we will just have to see if I’m right, a year from now come back here and let me know how you are doing Financially, and how many time you’ve been robbed or how many time you have been run into by an uninsured illegal alien. And if tax’s have truly went down.
But Just a thought of the day…..Hillary wins….Hillary names Bill as V.P……..Hillary resigns……four more years of Bill as President?
Something to think about……hmmmmmmm
I feel sorry Greg, in that you fell left out of a choice. It is your state that needs to change that, don’t blame anyone else. This strategy is working great. We are nominated, now everyone in the states that are left can vote for Hillary in the Dems to get OsamaObama out. Hillary is a dead loss against McCain in the polls.
Another thing, this thing where Hucks is veep or Romney is veep is not going to fly this year..sorry, McCain has to be sincere about including all Americans, not just lily white blowhard baptists men (or Mormon). This veep has to be a woman or black/brown/asian or combination of. The time for the all white man rule is gone, gone gone or we will lose…How about JC Watts, what a great guy..or Condy.
You people pressing for Hucks for VP are the same old racist reps that quite frankly, we want to get rid of…huray for the new, and still responsibly conservative, GOP….
I was just watching Fox–when I saw the blurb about McCain not playing the “negative, bad mouthing sort of campaign” when he reacted that he “respects Hilary Clinton, and Barak Obama” after the introduction that included a dig toward Hilary about the 3 am phone call. Before we all comment on McCain’s level of integrity–let’s remember that he had an affair on his first wife with the woman named Cindy–that is now his wife–so of course he is not going to go down that road. In the end, even we conservatives have to allow candidates that may have slipped up in the past-I find it interesting that the Senate bill co-sponsored last week by Barak Obama has wording in it that will allow for any candidate born in the Panama Canal zone in the thirties to run for president and be elected. (the constitution has wording “natural born,” and has been previously interpreted to mean born on American soil. I think it commendable that Democrats would introduce a bill like this–which also implies that there was a measure of debate and question in McCain’s being elegible to serve. I am confused that everytime the TV is on(and I usually keep it on Fox,) no one was saying anything about this! Alas, McCain is more unlike Barak Obama than Hilary Clinton–so perhaps we will get a chance at electing a conservative democrat—JOhn McCain, when we vote Republican in November. Oh, well.
Listen up Hucks and Mccain supported just read that Hillary is hinting of a OBama -Hillary ticket ..if she’s on top …we need to come together….and fight for the good of our country
I have not been a McCain supporter from the start, I was for Fred Thompson.
However, the Republican Party now has to come together, and give their Support
for the Candidate that has prevailed.
The Democratic Party has Abrogated their Responsibility to get anything Done in
Congress and the Senate for many Years now; Just so they could BASH, BUSH!
This is Childish and Self, Destructive Behavior that we wouldn’t put up with from our children,
let alone our Congressmen and Senators!
It has been and now “IS” past time for them to Pay The Butchers Bill for their Traitorous Actions;
and Inactions Along PARTY LINES for the Defense of our Borders and the Country.
They should Be Held in Contempt and Impeached for the Crime of TREASON With,
Allowing and Abetting, the Illegal Alien Invasion of the United States of America.
Not to mention the Defense and Support of our Troops in Harms way!
They are due to Reap the Consequences of their Actions.
As they Say; ”War is Hell!”, and So; is the Battle to come for the White House.
They have their Complacency and Corruptions along with their Responsibility for;
The Consequences of their Actions too, Just as Every other American Citizen
would have to Pay;
And Pay we do with the Blood and Treasure of our Family’s and their Security;
along with the Border guards incarcerated, and being shot on the Mexican Border.
With our citizens Kidnapped and held for Ransom by the Drug Cartels,
Not to mention Terrorizing the Towns and Counties All across America,
Not Just our Southern Border with Mexico.
Therefore, I want Mr. McCain to Reply and The Party to Respond to this:
“VERY REAL AND PRESENT DANGER” to the Safety and Security of this Nation!
What are you going to do about this to Protect and Support our Citizens Mr. McCain?
END TRANS: MARV!
Christopher, guess so. My vote will only go to McCain if Obama is on the ticket. That is the lesser of the 2 evils and my opinion is exactly that. I don’t believe there are to many of our youth that will get behind McCain. I know my 3 voters won’t and none of their friends. And if you are one of the bloggers on McCain’s sight that downgrade the youth. You might want to think twice as they appear to be MUCH smarter than their elders.
Congratulations Sen. McCain,
We all need to work together to elect a pro-life president who takes national security seriously, will cut pork out of government spending, and will use a tax and energy strategy that will help to create jobs.
Patrick J. McGervey
Avon Lake, Oh
This is the death of the GOP. A war-mongering neocon who will do nothing to stop the cancer of NAFTA, the erosion of our rights as citizens and will push us into complete collapse. Cut Pork? Gimme a break. What a make-believe issue. Do you know how tiny such set-asides are in terms of the entire federal budget. Tax and Energy strategy to create jobs? Sounds like it came from the lips of someone who knows even less about economics that McCain, if that’s even possible. Now I know we’re finished. McCain is *so* pro-life that he can’t wait to send more young men to their deaths, fighting for dollar hegemony in the middle east.
What about Condoleesa Rice for VP? She appeals to conservative, minority, and female voters, but most importantly, she is very qualified! I think her education, experience, and electability would make the democrats very nervous.
McCain / Rice 2008!
McCain needs our support if we are going to stamp out the liberals this fall. Hillary is hinting at a Clinton/Obama ticket or an Obama/Clinton ticket. Not going to happen. If you think that the Republicans are breaking apart, try taking a look at what the Dems are doing. It just blows my mind that two candidates who differ only by race and gender (and the use of these characteristics to their advantage) will cause huge riffs in the Democratic party. If McCain positions himself as a maverick who doesn’t mind reaching across the aisle (which is how he really is) then he stands to win the votes of Independents, Democrats and Republicans at the same time. Imagine what bickering Democrats would do if McCain won by a landslide.
At long last the ‘Good Reverend’ is out. Now I don’t have to stomach his empty rhetoric or listen to his followers quote Bible verses in an attempt to justify his staying in. It was simply Huckabee’s ego (and lack of mathematical knowledge) that was keeping him in, but no more.
In any event, the really interesting question is this: who will be McCain’s running mate?
I will paste this news in my profile on the dating site ++++MeetWealthyBoomer.com++++ It is a great place for 30+ singles to meet love and romance. I’ve met my soul mate there. Good luck, folks!
******
I will now give my support to John McCain. He is a better choice for Republicans than a democrat. Like Mike Says:
“it is time to unify the party and support our nomomee”. Huckabee showed outstanding grace in his consesson speech. I will vote for McCain as a show of support for Mike. This is what Mike Huckabee has asked of his supporters and I agree with him.
The only way I will not vote for McCain would be if he chooses that dirty Romney for VP. Americans Love a loser if he fought a tough battle against impossible odds. But Americans HATE A QUITTER!
Remember the Alamo!
GO McCAIN!
