McCain defends Hagee endorsement despite differences
Round Rock, TX — Sen. John McCain defended the endorsement of controversial evangelical pastor John Hagee, noting Friday that he does not embrace the views of every one of his backers.
“I don’t have to agree with everyone who endorses my candidacy. They are supporting my candidacy. I am not endorsing some of their positions,” McCain said after a town hall at Dell computers headquarters outside Austin, TX.
Catholic League President Bill Donohue is calling on McCain to renounce the Hagee endorsement, arguing that the San Antonio-based preacher is an anti-Catholic bigot who has referred to the Catholic church as a cult, the anti-Christ and “the Great Whore.” Hagee also espouses radical views about what he sees as the impending Armageddon.
“For the past few decades, he has waged an unrelenting war against the Catholic Church,” Donohue said Thursday. “Senator Obama has repudiated the endorsement of Louis Farrakhan, another bigot. McCain should follow suit and retract his embrace of Hagee.” The Democratic National Committee also slammed McCain for the endorsement Friday.
As McCain attempts to unify the GOP for the general election, he will have to bring together a number of disparate elements of the party, including the evangelical groups key to President Bush’s 2000 and 2004 victories. Hagee boasts more than 19,000 followers and is a major pro-Israel voice for the evangelical community.
“I am very proud of Pastor John Hagee’s spiritual leadership to thousands of people and I am proud of his commitment to the independence and the freedom of the state of Israel,” McCain said, but repeated again that in accepting the pastor’s backing does not mean he agrees with everything “Hagee might have said or positions that he may have taken on other issues.”
Later Friday, the campaign released a statement from McCain to hammer home the point.
“Yesterday, Pastor John Hagee endorsed my candidacy for president in San Antonio, Texas. However, in no way did I intend for his endorsement to suggest that I in turn agree with all of Pastor Hagee’s views, which I obviously do not,” McCain said. “I am hopeful that Catholics, Protestants and all people of faith who share my vision for the future of America will respond to our message of defending innocent life, traditional marriage, and compassion for the most vulnerable in our society.”

Well, if Mr. McCain’s good friend, Pastor Hagee, is correct in his assumption that God is in the business of punishing wicked cities for their sin, via Hurricanes, why hasn’t Washington, D.C. been wiped off the map?
Additionally, why hasn’t God punished Hagee with a Hurricane? Considering that St. John Hagee was divorced from his first wife after having an adulterous affair with one of his parishoners, whom he later married? Perhaps God has already punished Hagee’s idolotry for/with FOOD by plaguing him with obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
This is what gives Christianity a bad name…it’s why we don’t wear crosses on our lapels, or flag pins for that matter!
I was appalled at your report about Pastor John Hagee. The report was taken out of context. Pastor Hagee loves the Jews. He is one of the head supporters of CUFI (Christians United for Israel). The portion of his message shown on your program about the catholics was simply a time line he was teaching about end times. The truth is Roman’s tore down the temple. Obviously you didn’t hear the whole message. It was much more than the few seconds you aired on TV last night. I’m proud of John McCain for standing up for him.

John McCain Has Respect for Opponents
Although I agree with Cincinnati talk-show host Bill Cunningham on many issues, I have to side with Sen. John McCain in denouncing Cunningham for his behavior while appearing at a McCain rally on the candidate’s behalf.
During his introductory remarks to the audience, Cunningham repeatedly referred to Sen. Barack Obama as a “hack” and as Barack Hussein Obama with the emphasis on Hussein, Obama’s middle name — a tactic used by critics who insist that Obama is really a Muslim.
McCain, who was not in the hall when Cunningham spoke, reacted angrily, telling reporters, “I take responsibility and I repudiate what he said. A person came out here before I arrived and made some disparaging remarks about Senators Obama and Clinton and I regret that. In my entire campaign I have treated Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton with respect. I will continue to do that throughout this campaign.”
For his part, Cunningham acted like a spoiled child being punished by his parents, threatening to vote for ultra-liberal Hillary Clinton in response to McCain’s scolding.
Cunningham seems to have forgotten that when you are speaking at a rally for a candidate, you’re not there for yourself, but for the person you are representing.
Unfortunately, when my fellow conservatives forget what their function is under certain specific circumstance, such as doing a warm-up for a candidate, they get it into their heads that everything is always about them.
They forget that it isn’t about them, it isn’t about us radio hosts — it’s really about the person for whom we’re emceeing an event, or introducing.
I go after liberals who start their spiel by using every imaginable obscene four-letter word when they are doing an event for a presidential candidate who just happens to be in the audience.
That’s appalling conduct but it’s equally appalling when conservatives think they have to prove their First Amendment rights by saying whatever they feel like saying, regardless of the fact that they may be hurting the very person they’re supporting.
They don’t have the right to say what they feel like saying when they are there in behalf of someone else who may well disagree with their remarks.
You have to understand your role as a warm-up speaker. You can’t just take it upon yourself to saddle your candidate with your personal opinions. You can’t decide, as Cunningham did, that you can help your man win this election by repeatedly reminding everybody what Obama’s middle name is and doing it in a derogatory way. There are, after all, far more important issues at stake.
Those who are going out of their way to stress Obama’s middle name know full well that they are really suggesting that Obama is a Manchurian candidate — a Muslim disguised as a Christian. That’s garbage politics and McCain was right in denouncing the tactic.
My fellow conservatives had better understand that this election isn’t just about us.
If somebody invited me to emcee an event or to introduce them I would keep in mind that my role would be to uplift the candidate, not to use the event as a pulpit from which I could promote Michael Reagan’s views.
John McCain is following in my dad’s footsteps when even in the heat of an election battle he shows respect for his opponents. Their stands on issues are fair game to him, but as fellow Americans they deserve respect. Anybody presuming to speak on his behalf owes it to him to be just as respectful to his opponents.
My dad understood Christ’s admonition that “whatever you do unto the least of my brethren you do unto me.” He showed respect for everybody no matter who they were or how often they attacked him — Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, Gerald Ford; he respected them all. He saw Christ in all of them. That’s why he was able to accomplish all that he did.
Bill Cunningham and all those who think sly personal attacks on their opponents are a justified tactic should take that to heart.
Hagee does claim to be pro-Israel, yes, in that he wants Israel to rise up so that it provokes Armageddon, where (he says) the Jews will be cast into eternal hellfire. No anti-semitism there. McCain and the NeoCons believe the same; Johnny Walnuts is on the record as saying he wants to “bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran” in order to hasten the rapture.
I am outraged over the double standard of the media and the republicans. The media, Hillary Clinton and the republicans got really fired up over Min Farrakan’s endorsement and Barack Obama’s pastor’s comments. So, Barack Obama did the right thing, he rejected and denounced the comments. But, John Mc’cain defends, but did not denounce the pastor who has made defaming comments of the Catholic Church. This man who claims more experience than Obama doesn’t have much common sense. In one week, he lets a radio talk show host sound off in a grossly disrepectful way about Barack Obama and did not seem to know the man’s past behavior on radio has been reprehensible at times. I guess his experience told him to trust him, and make him part of his campaign. Then John Mc’cain takes the stage with John Hagee a noted Catholic defamer, which I believe was a result of Mc’cain’s experience again taking the lead over common sense. I am looking for a fair amount of attention from the media, like how many times Obama was shown in muslim garb in one day to this unequal treatment.
Why is it still okay to discriminate against Catholics. Senator McCain if you refuse to acknowledge the clear bigotry and hatred of your supporters and distance yourself from them, one can only assume you agree with them. I truely hope you do not share Hagee’s views of Catholics. If you do, or refuse to comment you have lost my vote. Any candidate who supports discrimination and hatred is not the candidate for me. I imagine Senator McCain would immediately repudiate any supporter if similar comments where made about Jews, Muslims, or minorities. Why is it okay to bash and spew hatred about a Christian denomination.
Let’s see if the Fox Ministry of Truth reports on this for the next 5 days like they did with Obama.
Obama rejected his psycho endorsement he didn’t even ask for. Let’s see what McCain does with his psycho endorsement he wanted.
Mac is Back!
I do not understand McCain. He appears to be trying to lose this election.

I agree w/you. I am a Protestant. When the primaries/cascuses started the seed of bigotry was planted by people who despise Mormons and Mitt Romney. The anti-Mormon sentiment was a political move and Huckabee apologized later, or did he? Mission accomplished. I did not hear anyone from the Republican party step up and endorse Romney because it was not popular. They did later, but it was too late. I watch the primaries/caucuses very closely any candidate who spews hatred and religious bigotry does not deserve to win the WH. Take care.
well here we see it again, the baptist are being narrow minded individuals. the Catholic church has
tolerated these guys. if we look at the facts then the baptist have no Authority to call themselves a
“true religion”, they were started by a individual that was separated from the church of england.
the founder of the baptist church self baptized himself and then proclaimed to be the leader. not even Christ baptized himself. by the way where is huck? that’s right last place.
Hi Catholic in KY,
Welcome to the bottom of the Republican totem pole. Don’t worry we are not the only ones here, and others will join us soon. As long as we don’t stand together against the bigotry we are seeing in the Republican Party it won’t be long before even the evangelicals will be down here.
It is not too late to make sure that the most conservative republican gets the nomination. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Vote for Huckabee if you still can. Did anyone here the clip of McCain saying that he was a liberal republican? Fruedean slip?
It is great to see others standing up to this religious bigotry. There are some great people who proclaim to be Christian and stick to the issues. Then there are some that just spew this hatred for Mormons and now you are seeing it towards Catholics. If you have a minute, go to the last 5 story blogs under Huckabee. I have been exposing these men and women for the religious bigots they are as they make false accusations, spread lies, and take quotes way out of context. Stick to the important issues at hand and do as Christ taught us, Love one another as I have loved you.
To ‘Mormon Cat,’
You Mormons will do anything to give people the impression that you’re Christians. A Catholic in Kentucky feels persecuted so you say, in essence, “Join the club! We Mormons know all about persecution. After all, people wouldn’t vote for our candidate (Romney) just because he’s so arrogant he thinks (in keeping with the teachings of our religion) that he can become a god one day. Why do people (especially in the South) have something against those of us who call ourselves Mormon Christians (in truth, an oxymoron) just because we belief the blasphemous, unbiblical notion that we can be gods of our own planets?”
Perhaps Christians would not have a problem with Mormonism if you would quit trying to deceive people into thinking your religion is Christian when so many thousands of its teachings blatantly contradict the Scriptures.
(Unlike Mormons) Catholics ARE Christians (many of them) because they believe in the Christ (of the Bible, not of Joseph Smith’s imagination) and because they believe in the Bible itself (not the Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price, and whatever your Non-Prophet utters as supposedly equal to Scripture.
Calling yourself Christian is a lie that just angers those of us who are. We don’t appreciate people misrepresenting genuine, biblical Christian faith.
Romney is the real deal!
I know because I’ve lived in Massachusetts (where Romney was Governor) for over a decade.
And, I AM NOT A MORMON (though I have no problem with those who are).
Truth is, I am a lesbian, and more often than not, vote Democratic.
I went out a limb, though and voted for Romney, and I didn’t regret it!
He did more (as Governor) to advance issues important to the homosexual community than any Governor we’ve ever had. I even saw him march in the Gay Day Parade in Boston a few years back.
I hope he runs again in 2012.
First if all, this phony who proclaims to be RAZOR is not really RAZOR. Go through all the blogs and you will see this is not the same person.
I will refer to you as bigot since that name fits you best. Did you and the other bigot named shelby get together and began your spewage fest with some of that Jones Kool Aid. Shelby the Bigot:
Where do I start. You think that you are learned in everyones religion because of your proclaimed doctorate in Biblical theology. Get a life. I am supposed to say woooo, she knows what she is talking about. When you make comments like these
” Romney’s sheeple are so distraught because they feel like their religion would be validated and considered more legitimate and mainstream if only one of their own were President . . . Pathetic!
Even if Romney (or another Mormon) were elected President, the LDS church is still an heretical, unbiblical cult. Favorable election results for Romney would not change that, though, as you desire, they might change naive people’s perception. The merits of your false teachings will continue to fall on their own - no help for your wanna-be savior, Romney
You also write, “Unbiased examination of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints using biblical standards will result in ample evidence that eliminates the notion that it is a heretical cult.” That is absolutely untrue! I have a doctorate in biblical theology, and the teachings of Mormonism and its so-called Scriptures (Book of Mormon, Doctrines & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price) blatantly contradict (in innumerable instances) the teachings of the Bible. One of the most heinously heretical teachings is your belief that people can become gods (of their own planets) in the afterlife. Such a notion not only contradicts the clear teaching of Scripture (e.g., Isaiah 43:10 which states, “Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me.”), it is also blatantly blasphemous. ”
Obviously, you are free to believe anything you wish, but to say that the teachings of Mormonism are consistent with the Bible is to ignore the thousands of contradictions between the two.
————————————————————————————————————–
You disgust me, seriously. Since you feel you are so brilliant, why don’t you explain to all of us why there are so many different Christian churches on the earth, when there was only one Church when Christ was on the earth whose foundation was apostles and prophets. Now in todays world there are hundreds of Churches. Do you spend your time picking out the ones that you feel are cults or heretical based upon your interpertation of the Bible. Why don’t you share with us all the different scripture references in the Bible where ” Bible” is Mentioned. Uh oh, it does not, so therefore the Bible is untrue. Why don’t you share with us where it says in the bible that years after the death of Christ and his apostles, that MEN not Prophets and Apostles would translate compile certain letters and epistles written by prophets and apostles and compile them into one book called the Bible. It doe not say that anywhere, so therefore the Bible must not be true according to your standard if it does not say it in the Bible.
The Bible means ” collection of Books” and was not written in chronological order. We believe it to be the word of God. We use the King James version for those who do not know. So according to Shelby if a belief is not spelled out word for word in the bible and there is no room for interpertation, it must be heretical and a cult like belief. Yet I just pointed out FACTS about the Bible that are not found in the Bible, but according to Shelbys standard, it must mean the Bible is not true as well and anyone who believes those facts are part of a cult.
Shelby since you are such an expert on our faith, why don’t you share with everyone our 13 Articles of Faith so everyone can judge for themselves how cult-like of a people we are. You are a hypocrite. Christ never went around undermining other peoples faith. He was perfect in all ways and is the Saviour of mankind because of his sacrifice for our sins and his triumph over death through his resurrection. Boy that sure sounds heretical and cult like doesn’t it?

Get a life Bigot and Shelby and go spew your anti-mormon hate to Ed Decker.
To American Conservative:
A Christian church (in response to your rantings) is one that believes that Jesus is the Savior (i.e., that salvation comes through faith in Him and His substitutionary sacrifice ALONE). Salvation - biblically speaking - is not the result of belonging to a particular organization or achieved through earned exaltations.
You accuse me of bigotry because I distinguish between biblical Christian faith and a counterfeit cult. But isn’t it YOUR church that says, “We are THE ONE TRUE CHURCH”? When you ‘bear your testimony’ don’t you say, “I believe the Mormon Church is the one true church and that Joseph Smith is God’s prophet”?
I’m very familiar with the teachings of Mormonism because my wife was one (served a mission, temple worthy, dad a stake president - the whole nine yards) before she accepted Jesus Christ (as revealed in the Bible) as her Savior. Now she is “saved by grace through faith, not of works lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
…I pray, one day, you will be, as well.
The only hope of that happening is for you to first become aware of the fact that the religion upon which you are staking your eternal destiny is false - a man-made religious system that is nothing more than a cheap imitation of the real thing born in the imagination of a treasure-hunting con-man named Joseph Smith. Trust Jesus (not Joseph) for salvation; He (JESUS) is a much safer bet!
The ‘medicine’ I’m ‘feeding’ you may not taste good (as it contradicts your current belief system/worldview), but if you receive it (as it’s ‘prescribed’ in the Scriptures), you will be eternally ‘well’ - forever in a right relationship with God, your Maker.
To American Conservative:
You asked me numerous questions (on another blog on this site) about what the Bible teaches (in contrast to Mormonism).
I took the time to address/answer each of those questions…
but all I’m hearing from your direction now is the chirping of crickets!
Jesus got the same response from the pseudo-religious people of His day (the Pharisees):
~ “No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask Him any more questions.”
(Matthew 22:46)
It must be hard winning an argument with your Maker (and His Word).
Here was my conversation with Shelby on the most recent story blog. I want you to see hatred and bearing false witness at its finest. Shelby had other conversation with others and I would recommend you take a look at what else this bigot has said. Shelbey is the very example of why religious bigotry is a mental disorder. You can decide for yourself after you read all of this for yourself.

To Happy People in Missouri, who writes,
“Not all members of the LDS Church are supporters of Governor Romney for President.” Really? He (Romney) received 95% of the LDS vote in Utah (during the primary there). That’s pretty close to ‘all.’
You also write, “Unbiased examination of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints using biblical standards will result in ample evidence that eliminates the notion that it is a heretical cult.” That is absolutely untrue! To ‘Happy People in Missouri’ who asks:
“Shelby - Mr. “I have a doctorate in biblical theology,” am I then to understand that you believe that there is no such being as a “saviour?” Isaiah 43:11″
Of course not!
Verse 11 is parallelism with verse 10. In other words, it repeats the same truth in a parallel (or paraphrased, if your prefer) fashion.
Together the verses say:
“Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me.
I, even, I, am the Lord, and apart from Me there is no Savior.”
All of that is absolutely consistent with the rest of Scripture that asserts that Jesus is God in the flesh (John 1:1-2,14). In other words, Jesus is not a second god, but the human manifestation of the only God that has ever been or will ever be - the living God, the Savior, the Creator, the King of kings and the Lord of lords. All of these names refer to the same God, the one, true God - the God who has revealed Himself through the Person of Jesus and through the pages of Scripture

Interesting post Shelby. Wow, I did not know that I was not saved according to you. Yet I just proclaimed that I believe that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and that I believe in his sacrifice for our sins and his triumph over death through his resurrection. According to you if I just believe in Christ, as I said I do, than his grace will save me through his atonement. You then tell me that I am not saved and that you hope that I will be saved like your wife. Sounds confusing or should I say hypocritical that your wife is saved, but I am not eventhough I fit your definition of salvation.
Let me share with you my definition of Salavation according to my interpretation of the Bible. I to agree that we are only saved through the grace of Jesus Christ. However, I also believe James when he tells us (James 2:26) that ” For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” Now you may warp what he teaches to fit your convienant definition of salvation, but I will believe exactl what James teaches. James goes further to make the point clear by saying (James 2:17) “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” He then furthers the point by saying ( James 1:22) “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” I also believe Christ told us that we need to love God and we show that love by loving our neighbor. Obviously the two great commandements. Jesus also went futher by saying in (John 14:15) ” If ye love me, keep my commandments”. The last time I checked not stealing, committing adultery, bearing false witness, are works of actions and are just a few of commandments of the Lord. So I believe in the Bible where it tells us that we are to Love God in order to receive salvation and Christ said we show are love not by just confessing with our mouths, but by keeping his commandments as well.
Was it not Christ you told us ( Matthew 18:3) ” And said, verily I say unto you, Except ye become converted, and become as a little children, ye SHALL NOT ENTER INTO THE KINDOM OF HEAVEN. I believe Christ made it very clear that we are to be meek, humble, submissive, teachable, trusting, and teachable as these are all atributes of Christ. If we live by those attributes we are following after Christ and are doing our best to follow his commandments. He made it very clear that in order to be saved we need to be doing our best to live with him again. He also made it clear that salvation is conditional upon keeping his commandments, or in other words faith AND WORKs. According to your earlier post you and your wife are saved. Which means you are perfectly meek, humble, submissive, and teachable. Your comments in your earlier post slandering Mormons sure prove that. And since you believe your salvation is already made sure, you can now take on the role as the judge of mankind, since you already told Christ that you are already saved and his judgment is no longer necessary.
As for me I claim to be in imperfect man. I will try to do my best to follow his commandments and repent daily of my wrong doings, but I will still fall short of perfection. We know that no unclean thing can dwell with God and so therefore I will pray for the Grace of Jesus Christ as he is the only one who can grant it, that he will have mercy on my soul, and find me fit to live in his presence. His grace fills the void between imperfection and perfection. He made it very clear that we need to become like him through our thoughts, words, actions, and desires, thus becoming like a child or childlike. His Grace is only sufficient for those who keep his commandment to the best of their ability. Yet knowing we will all fall short of perfection. Your shared your opinion based upon YOUR interpretation of the scriptures and this is MY interpretation of salvation based upon the scriptures.
In regards to the nature of God. You said that God the Father does not have a body and that God is a spirit. Yet you also said that Jesus Christ is God, just in the flesh. I find that interesting that you believe that God the Father does not have a body, but Christ and he are the same person. Let me show you my interpretation of the nature of God based upon the scriptures. Please turn to Luke 24:36-43.
This is when Christ appeared to his apostles AFTER his resurrection/ 36. And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, peace be unto you. 37. But they were terrified and afrighted, and supposed that they had seen a SPIRIRT. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39. Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I MYSELF: handle me, and see; FOR A SPIRIT HATH NOT FLESH AND BONES, AS YE SEE ME HAVE. 40. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. 41. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42. And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of honey comb. 43. AND HE TOOK IT, AND DID EAT BEFORE THEM.
In in the scriptures Christ said as plain as day that a spirit does not have flesh and bones as ye see me have. He even ate with them to prove he was not just a Spirit. So it is clear Christ does have a body of flesh and bone. So are you saying that that he shed his body again before he assended back to Heaven? You stated that Christ is God in the flesh, which however you want to put it, he is still God. So if he is God and he just stated that he has a body of flesh and bone, than GOD DOES HAVE A BODY. He also has a spirit. Which was the whole purpose of the resurrection, that Christ broke the bands of death through his resurection so that we all might live again. That our bodies and spirits, like Christ, would be reunited together again at the resurrection in perfect form, as was Christ. So GOD DOES HAVE A BODY AS HE TOLD THE APOSTLES AND DOES HAVE A SPIRIT.
Christ also told us that he was not God the Father. He stated ( John 17: And now, O Father, glorify thou me, WITH THINE OWN SELF WITH THE GLORY WHICH I HAD WITH THEE BEFORE THE WORLD WAS”. And then with so much humility and love for his Father in Heaven as well as all of us, he said ( John 14:2
” Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye have loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I”. They are ONE in purpose to bring to pass the imortality and eternal life of mankind.
I love my Father in Heave and am eternally grateful for my Lord and Savior. That through him and him alone can we return back to both of them. I am grateful for the Comforter even the Holy Ghost who reveals this truth and brightens the straight and narrow path with his light. I am glad Shelby that you and I are brothers in Christ and pray that we always remember that.
Let me adress a few of your rantings.
Does God have a body. You claim that Jesus Christ to be GOD in the Flesh. To make it clear Jesus is God. You then say that God

Shelby: polythesism is a belief in several different gods who serve several different purposes. People that have believed this way were the Incans, Aztecs, Mayans, and other groups of people. As ” Happy said We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his Son Jesus Christ who are ONE in purpose to bring to pass the imortality and Eternal Life of mankind. Please do not make things up about what we believe when you can not even state the facts.
Yes, we believe what Paul taught the Romans. Romans 8:16&17 “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD. 17. AND IF CHILDREN, THEN HEIRS: HEIRS OF GOD, AND JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST; IF SO BE THAT WE SUFFER WITH HIM, THAT WE MAY BE ALSO GLORIFIED TOGETHER.”
Christ also said to the Jews after speaking of His Father and as they were about to stone him he said ( John 10:32-39)” 32. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works, do ye stone me? 33. The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makes thysef God. 34. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36. Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37. If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38. But if I do, though ye believe me not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. 39. Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand”
Shelby please reference what I just shared with you to Psalms 82:6. This is the Lord speaking “I have said, Ye are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High.”
Are you going to tell me that the Lord himself who said that we are gods and are children of the Most High is blasphemist. He told us of who we are and who we can become, even JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST, as Paul even taught. You would have been one of those who would have stoned Jesus as he claimed he was a God, even the Son of God and to believe that works he does are not of himself but that of His Father in Heaven. This is why the Jews were going to stone him, because they claimed he put himself at the level of Father in Heaven. But he always so humbly tells us that the Father is greater than himself. Therefore, we also say that we are no greater than Christ or Heavenly Father, but can become like them as Christ has stated as has Paul the great apostle.
I am going to stop responding to your comments as you continue to slander my faith and my faith in Jesus Christ and the Gospel he taught. I suggest you worry about your own salvation then condemn others to hell. You are the hypocrites Christ talked about. True believers love God and show that by loving and respecting their fellow men.
I hope everyone on this site and blog has seen what type of bigotry exist amongst this great country we live. And do not trust any of Shelby’s false accusations about what my church believes. If you want to know the truth of any religion who go to official sources of the Church. Our Churches websites are Mormon.org and lds.org.

The last part of my second to last post was the beginning of my response to shelby if you were wondering. I forgot to delete it, as I decided to adress him differently. Anyway good night
———————————————————————————————-
The last part of my post where it says “Obviously, you are free to believe anything you wish, but to say that the teachings of Mormonism are consistent with the Bible is to ignore the thousands of contradictions between the two” was written by Shelby not me. That is why I recommend you go read it for yourself at the other story blog, because when you are copying and pasting conversations it can go screwy.
I’ll bet one of Mc”cains favorite songs is “Blowin In THe Wind” cause he sure doing a lot of it these days.
Shelby - does the phrase “physician, heal thyself” mean anything to you? You’re too busy prescribing medicine to treat your own sicknesses.
I’ll help you out here. This phrase is COMMONLY understood to mean:
1- Attend to one’s OWN faults, in preference to pointing out the faults of others.
2 -The phrase alludes to the readiness and ability of physicians to heal sickness in others while sometimes not being ABLE or WILLING to heal themselves.
Please find some Balm of Gilead.
It’s been said “You can always tell a Morman, but you can’ tell him much” and it is increasingly evident in the details of any blog how much the truth suffers when it is forced through a seive of preconceived ideas. These ideas are usually labeled as religion or bigotry or party doctrine.
If you seriously seek the truth read the Bible. Just It and nothing else, again and again and again and in the final outcome you will know the truth as it is spoken to your heart each day by the One who wrote the whole Book. There is only one way to the Father, that is the Word, and He, the only Savior. To all who add any thing to it….it becomes sinking sand. To all who cut any thing out of it, it becomes a sand storm of epic proportions.
In any election choose candidates by how well they line up with how much you know about the Bible. If every American would do that this nation would be truly blessed and sound again. And that would be in spite of the fact that all of us hold solid disagreements about countless subjects.
All of the Churches deeply believe they’re the ONE TRUE CHURCH. I’m so happy not to be a part of any of them. My belief in God is between God and me. I don’t need any phony preacher who cliams God spoke to him to represent me. I do understand some of you who need that crutch because you’re in a daze when on your own and need to be led in every aspect of your life. It’s too bad it’s that way with you but unfortunately everyone hasn’t got the intellegence to think for themselves. Those that deny that there is a God are no better off than you are.
It is of course incumbent on you, since you are members of the “OTC”, to attack all of the “not the true Churches.” The problem is you’re not acting on any revalation from God. You’re getting your marching orders from a flesh and blood preacher or parent who may have alterior motives or just doesn’t have it right.
To American Conservative,
You state that you love your “Father in Heave” ……argument over…….. you have by slip revealed yourself. Those of us in the brotherhood of faith will leave you to your puke licking way.
Ease up LEROY!
Leroy - I am glad the bible teaches that all people need to take some kind of medicine, even the glorious physicians like you out there need some healing once in a while.
Isn’t the gospel wonderful. Jesus put no MAN above another man.
Just curious though, have you ever heard about the statute of religious freedom penned by Thomas Jefferson? You see, our founding fathers didn’t think only one religion mattered.
Read that statute and you will see how utterly ridiculus your statement is -
In any election choose candidates by how well they line up with how much you know about the Bible. If every American would do that this nation would be truly blessed and sound again>>>>>>>
To Texas Jimbo,
Ahhh ……yes you’re right it was a cheap shot. Forgive me, it’s only my second time in the b-sphere and I do tend to get a bit emotional about God and country. Election years are frustrating with all the vibrating columns of air with so few important issues being adressed clearly. Mccain has it right. Why should he renounce an endorsement just because the local cardinal or whoever says the endorser is a bigot. Have people become insane? Where is the standard of truth that our fathers and grandfathers fought for? Mc Cain has at least identified the most glaring threat against America. I have not heard that from the other front runners.
Vanilla Ice,
Some people wouldn’t know the truth if it bit them in the asterisk.
I hope you will stand firm on NOT REJECTING John Hagee’s endorsement———-everyone doesn’t have to agree on the same beliefs, but please bear in mind the character and integirity of people and don’t become a victum of the crowd pleasers. Mr Hagee is a very honorable man and has great vision in the well being of America.
Hagee is a non-issue…McCain is trying to reach out to the block who were necessary for the success of President George W. Bush and his father. I am deeply grateful for the hard work of our president who has kept us safe on our homefront, but his endorsement of McCain is useless. I am not swayed by endorsements. I hear McCain speak, but I have watched his feet. I do not suffer from a loss of memory. McCain is not conservative, he is a Democrat who calls himself Republican and has not ever been a pro-life advocate in action. Those who are pro-life were already voting for Huckabee or another pro-life candidate when Dr. Dobson endorsed him. Endorsements by respectable pro-life men and/or women only loserespect for those icons who have stood firm at the front and then cave to the media’s choice being thrust upon the people. I cannot vote for a man who does not value life;who has been tortured, but has not tried to protect unborn babies from being tortured at the rate of over 3000 daily.
People, people, people,
Please don’t let the faux RaZoR get everyone upset. The individual posing as RaZor is another member of the cult of Mike Huckabee. These cult members, like members of other cults, misrepresent themselves and misrepresent others in defense of the cult. He is baiting the Mormons to defend the faith from the slanderous allegation of being unchristian. Who sets the standard for Christianity? Is there a Christian advisory board that owns the term and has established standards that anyone calling himself a Christian must follow or be subject to civil suit? Calling Mormons, or any other group that professes devotion to Christ, unchristian is just insulting.
I encourage the faux RaZor to think for himself and throw off the chains with which he is bound to the cult of Mike Huckabee.
Someone suggested previous article blogs be read…? They have disappeared…any blogs strongly supporting Huckabee keep getting replaced.
Again, let me remind everyone to watch the media in the coming months of the election…it happens every time…
There will be specials, or at least many references to Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy.
This happens because Nixon was the last embarrasing Republican president, and John F. Kennedy was the last president who has not embarrased the Democrats. John F. Kennedy would have been an embarrassment if he had not been assassinated…he almost got us into World War III, which would have been with nuclear weapons between Russia and America…it was more incredible than the movies…there is also much evidence that Marilyn Monroe’s death was not an “accidental” overdose…he only needed a few more years to embarrass the Democrats…the 1960’s were embarrassing years for both parties…but Reagan brought the Republican party back to honor…by the way…very few Republicans can claim Reagan’s greatness…let alone Obama or any other Democrat trying to connect themselves to his sails…their attempt to align themselves with him only proves there have been no Democrat presidents since John F. Kennedy that people think of in a positive light…where are the Democrat icons…this is why the Democrat candidates can only run on the platform of change election after election.
Oh, darn…I have to go, but I see Boppert is back at his recorded name-calling..I’d love to stay and play…you bring out my best sarcasm…but I have to go…I’d check back later…but anywhere Huckabee can be seen tends to get erased…
Sarah,
I’m sorry that the sarcasm you demonstrated was your best.
I am frustrated by the behavior I see from Huckabee supporters. The qualities I see are typical of cult members and including lack of original thought, failure to analyze the dogma of the organization, lying to protect the organization, misrepresenting the words and actions of others, etc.
I you are offended because I have labeled this behavior, I beg your pardon. What would you call it, Christianity?

Tes,
I generally thank people for their comments to my humble inquiries as to why they support Mike Huckabee, but the comments you gave are not your own. Should I decide to drink the Kool-Aid please leave me a link instead of wasting all of that space.
If you would like to show me that you are not the cult member that your actions seem to indicate you are, provide me with some information that is not the drivel of Mike Huckabee’s campaign staff, and I would be happy to consider it. In the mean time you can choose to close your eyes and chant the cult mantra or you can open your mind and provide examples of all of these excellent qualities you have been told Mike Huckabee has.
Why McCain doesn’t want to debate Huckabee……..
BECAUSE THERE IS NO REASON TO—–HUCKABEE HAS ALREADY SERVED HIS PURPOSE IN HELPING MCCAIN GET THE NOMINATION——NOW MCCAIN HAS MOVED ON TO THE GENERAL ELECTION. WHY ON EARTH WOULD HE TURN BACK AND START PAYING ATTENTION TO HUCKABEE AGAIN? GET REAL!!
I have had the priveldge to read two of Hagee’s books: Countdown Jerusaleum and In Defense of Israel. I would strongly recommend to anyone that both of these are required reading regardless of your denomination or theology.
The points Hagee makes are not anti-cathoic but reveals truth about the Christian church as a whole. Hagee did not claim that Hitler was a Catholic….Hitler proclaimed himself to be
Roman Catholic. And in 1938 stood up to give his testimony to his “Final Solution” as a Catholic and the vatican, along with most of the world remaind silent and claimed disbelief. Hagee points out that the Pope , along with most every other denomination and individual remained silent and that most of the world committed a Sin of Omission vs. Commission. The cahtolic church remained silent until Pope John Paul recognized this and started the process to ask our Jewish brethern for forgiveness. He also points out that the evangelical church has not done the same to this day. (No….I do not practice my Christian theology through the Catholic church but through another church)
But even more importantly, it is Hagee’s belief and many others that the ghost of 1938 Hitler is alive and well and dwells within the President of Iran as he makes the same types of statements….Israel will be wiped off the map in a day…..and the world assumes the same posture it did in 1938 by ignoring and not believing this man.
Yes, Hagee has committed his fair share of sins as I have myself. And yet I am a Believer….a believer that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Christ….The Son of the Living God……My Lord and Saviour.
My only counsel is that the sword of denominationalism is the avenging sword of Evil…the Devil…etc. This seems obviouos to me as I read. And as Christians we can only live our lives in a way that glorifys Christ, setting an example in the hope that others will follow and with the understanding that as the scriptures state…We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. And that our only hope of salvation is through and by God’s infinite grace and love,
Blessings to each of you
Attention all republicans in the Primary States soon to vote… I know it will be hard to keep the vomit down. But, vote for Hillary. http://www.livinghopeinjesus.com/JOHNHAGEEISNOWAPOSTATEREADITFORYOURSELF.dsp
the Catholic church has the claim of Authority with the gospel. the only thing that I see with the baptist of the world is incorrect views. they believe that a gentleman by the name of John Smyth who broke from the Church of England and then self baptized himself, and “developed” the baptist faith. this somehow give you the authority to be a religion. this occurred in the 1600’s only 200 years before the mormon begingins. Not even Christ baptized himself. if there is a “cult” out there it would by definition be the church with no authority (baptist). this may be why there are so many different baptist churches on each corner and none have the same doctrine. I would prefer that we all get along and respect each others personal beliefs.
