Clinton Ad Accused of Playing On Fear
A new Clinton ad asking who voters want as their commander in chief has the Obama campaign charging her with exploiting the politics of fear.
In the ad, a narrator says “It’s 3am and your children are safe and asleep, but there’s a phone in the White House and it’s ringing.” Showing children asleep, the narrator says “Your vote will decide who answers that call. Whether it’s someone who already knows the world’s leaders, knows the military - someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world,” asking “who do you want answering the phone?”
While he said the ad raised a “legitimate question,” Obama said the it and other ads like it “play upon peoples’ fears and try to scare up votes.”
“We have had a red phone moment,” he said. “It was the decision to invade Iraq. Sen Clinton gave the wrong answer.”
On a conference call, chief Clinton strategist Mark Penn noted that Obama never had to vote on the Iraq issue in 2002, saying “when he actually had to make cecisions and not just give a speech, he voted in the senate exactly like Senator Clinton.” He said the question of whos best equipped to become commander in chief, along with who would best manage the economy, is essential for voters, saying “I hope by the way that he wouldn’t view asking who would be best to manage the economy playing to people’s fears. In fact, it plays on the very thing people look for in a president.

You can judge a man’s character by who he chooses to gather around him.
Obama’s leading advisor on Middle East issues is none other than Robert Malley.
Malley is notorious for supporting Hezbollah, Fatah, Syria, Iran, The PLO, Hamas and all the other usual suspects. I find it utterly terrifying that Malley is whispering in Obama’s ear.
A nice write up on his philosophy can be found at
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/01/barack_obamas_middle_east_expe.html
It includes direct links to Malley’s own writing, comments and testimony.
If that wasn’t bad enough, he has added Samantha Power to his team. The link below takes a look at the entire team. It is very scary reading.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/02/samantha_power_and_obamas_fore_1.html
The only way that Clinton can turn this around (and it probably will not happen) is by going after his voting record. He is considered to be one of the most liberal democrats in washington, his record shows NO attempts at bipartisan intitatives on his part, and yet he is running his circus as the “unifier”. He constantly repeats his idotic mantra, “ideas go to washington to die”, and none of the deluded at his travelling revival meetings NOTE the irony: Obama, as a a partisan senator, is guilty of killing those very ideas that he speaks of. The disjunction between his actions and rheotric is striking.
I will give him credit…he has most of the press on his side and they have helped him stomp out any opposition to his carter-esque liberal agenda. If you don’t agree and climb aboard the “welfare-state express”, the unifer, his political machine, cnn and msnbc just roll over you and extinguish your dissenting voice. I feel like I’m living through the initial chaos that ensued at the beginning of the French revolution. Unify and change OUR way or off with your head! So much for “change you can believe in…”
I understand the frustration over the Bush years, and the need to end an 8 year period that has demoralised the country. But do we really need to rally around the left-wings version of Jim and Tammy Faye???
Hillary tried — let’s hope the republicans go through his record and make this guy defend his voting history and present the american people with something besides inspirational platitudes.
“Hindsight alone is not Wisdom”, and “Second Guessing is not a Strategy” George Bush Jr
“Hope is not a Strategy” Hillary Clinton (some time after George made his quote)
Barack Obama’s entire campaign is based upon Hope and Second Guessing.
A President has to make extremely difficult decisions (more than America really knows about) and these decisions cannot be based upon Hope and Second Guessing.
If you want to lose sleep at night, repeat after me….
“President Barack Obama, Commander and Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces!”
After watching hillary”s “red phone moment” i am even more convinced that John mccain is who i want to answer that call.

RE-THINK ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ OBAMA.
HILLARY CLINTON 08.
I WANT TO FIX HILLARY CLINTON FOR STAYING WITH BILL WHEN SHE SHOULD HAVE DIVORCED HIM OVER:
1. HIS ANTIMASTURBATION
2. HIS CHEATING ADULTERY
ALSO IM AGAINST HER NOT LISTENING TO ME ABOUT VOTING AGAINST THE ANTI POKER BILL (PHONE CALLS, LETTERS) AND RECEIVING FUNDING FROM HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY OVERCHARGING AND AGE DISCRIMINATING. I ALSO BELIEVE LIKE JOE LIEBERMAN THAT BILL CLINTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED AFTER ILLEGALLY CHEATING ON HIS WIFE.
America should be fearful in today’s world of Terrorists that want to kill ALL Americans!
This goal of killing ALL Americans did not surface when George Bush has been President!
There have been multiple terrorist attacks against Americans many under Clintons watch.
We should all be thankful that another terrorist attack has not occured on American soil.
We should all be thankful for President George Bush and his relentless pursuit of terrorists.
We should continue to be fearful and recognize the constant threat that exists.
And if you want to lose sleep at night repeat after me…
“President Barak Obama, Commander and Chief of the United States of America Armed Forces!”

So sad to see this comments, ah this is fox news inst it?
to begin with, in last week`s debate, there was the great ignorance Obama showed to the world when he told that story about the platoon, etc…displaying a great lack of knowledge about how the military is structured, etc…
in the last debate, he stated that he`d take action in Iraq…if intel indicated that Al-Quaeda was building a base there, etc., there…what?…wait a min?…this from a guy who stated that he was against the war from the start…
when the war started, the US had intel which indicated that Al-Quaeda had bases in Iraq…the very same condition which Obama states he`d take action over there…just like Bush did…
which means Obama was either LYING in the last debate or when he says he was against the war from the start.
btw, Hillary showed her superior experience, etc., by correctly answering this question…because a good Commander-in-Chief needs to know the facts before answering such questions…
she was also correct in pointing out that Obama wasn`t in the Sen. at the start to vote on the war…and he`s going to say what ever makes him look good…so, of course he`s going to LIE and say that he was against the war from the start…makes him look smarter than everyone else…especially to his followers…
and speeches, etc., aren`t the same…there`s a HUGE difference between giving speeches, etc., and voting with a constituency to answer to, nearly all of who were for the war at the time…
in fact, on and just after 9/11, very nearly every American, including Obama, was for going to war or dropping a bomb on who ever was responsible for what took place on 9/11…especially NYer`s…anyone who says differently is lying just like Obama is…as SHOWN above…
quite simply, Today`s world is too dangerous for a Pres. to be learning on the job…and openly negotiating without pre-conditions…with our enemies/terrorists…many of who HOPE every American drops dead this very moment…and would CHANGE the United States to something other than democracy…to think otherwise, like Obama, is extremely naive.
so, i can see it now…terrorists in the streets with signs which say,
“Obama 08!…CHANGE even we can believe in!!!”
Since neither she nor Mr. Obama have ANY significant crisis or military experience, or advisors that do, Mrs. Clintons ad is probably one of the best ads I have seen for Jon McCain so far.
Since neither Clinton or Obama have ANY significant crisis or military experience (scandals and protests don’t count) Clinton’s ad is the best I have seen for McCain so far.
AND HILLARY IS RIGHT,,,WHO KNEW THE MORNING OF 9/11,,,,,WHO KNEW,,,,,,BUT THOSE MUSLIM LEADERS DID…AND MUSLIMS ,,THEY DON,T EVEN LEAVE OTHER MUSLIMS ALONE,,LOOK AT PAKISTAN ,,,EVERYDAY NEW BOMB,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,FIRST SECURE OURSELVES THEN DO THE PEACE TALK,,,,,,,,,,,,

I love how during the mid-terms all we heard from the Dems was all the scare tactics the Bush admin used. Well now who is trying to scare us. At this point none of the people running I would trust to answer that phone, Dem or Rep!!
there`s plenty of time to pick the right advisors…i trust Hillary to do this wisely…over the greatly inexperienced Obama who showed on nat. TV, and to all our enemies/terrorists, a basic lack of understanding…about how the military is structured…and, at least with Clinton, one gets Bill too…who would be a good advisor…
just because terrorists were able to sneak 1 or 2 past him, no one knows just how many terrorist attacks were prevented on Bill`s watch…except the military…most of who are endorsing either Clinton or McCain…
i agree that a similar ad would be quite affective for McCain should Obama emerge the winner.
Day of Reckoning
A visitor to Clinton HQ sees signs of serious trouble.
by Eleanor Clift (Newsweek)
The day of reckoning for Hillary Clinton is almost here. The voters in Ohio will either deal a final blow to her campaign or provide a much needed victory that at best will give her a reprieve in the long march to the nomination. A visitor from another country recently paid a call on the Clinton campaign headquarters in Ballston, Va., a place just over the bridge from Washington but light years away. He imagined he would be present at a moment of great triumph. Instead he found a campaign on the verge of imploding. Phone bank tables were unmanned. Bins full of mail sent over from the Senate sat unattended. A lot of young women, fanatical Hillary fans all, rushed about, seemingly unclear about what they were supposed to be doing. Other aides sat in front of computer screens, gloomily reading coverage of the campaign. Howard Wolfson and Phil Singer, the campaign’s communications team, weren’t speaking with anybody else, just doing their own thing, whatever that might have been. In short, it was not a happy family.
For The Rest of the Story:

As I watched the Obama counter-ad to the “3am Phone Call” ad, I was struck by the apparent use of video taken directly from Hillary’s ad. This is probably why they were able to respond so quickly. I would assume this was done without permission and thus illegal.
Wow…you guys at Fox have reached a new low.
That Senator Clinton ad in no way is a “fear ad” or “attack ad”, it repeately says the kids are safe….Barack is never mentioned or even referred to…..it’s almost soft and fuzzy….then you compare it to some lousy fear ads from the far past..none of which were put out by Clinton to try to reinforce your claim that it is a fear ad.
Shame on you Fox, shame on you.

It’s cool, Sonia is much nicer and more likely to avoid people simply dismissing what you have to say from the name used.
Is it me, or does Obama and Clinton resemble the characters from the movie Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, where Sally Field portrays a power, arrogant, egotistic congresswoman and Reese Witherspoon plays a lawyer that is seen as a delusional, ignorant, and Capital Barbie doll. How could a blonde political virgin come to Washington D.C. and think that she could make a difference among the elite policy-makers. Of course, in this case Obama is not a mindless or an air head individual, but is still seen as a Capital Ken doll. Now, the question that needs to be asked, can Obama pull a win like Ms. Witherspoon.

Barack and Hillary both scare me. Did they get their experience through osmosis? Hillary thinks her time as a first lady gives her experience….does that mean that the surgeon general’s lawn man can perform brain surgery???
Texans care about security. It is legal to carry a concealed handgun in Texas and they like that way.
So Hilary’s new ad will cause them to pause. It may not get her votes, but it may siphon away
some independents that will turn around and vote McCain.
It is not a nice feeling to think that so many women are voting for Hillary due to gender manipulation!! Shame on you! Think for yourselves.

How can i be convinced that Obama is a “HOPE for REAL CHANGE” when he even can’t come up with different AD? I’m so sick watching the OBAMA AD copying Senator Clinton AD? just changing WORDS??? YOU ARE A COPYCAT!
Why don’t the OBAMA camp use all the money they are bragging they received from OBAMA-NIACS to hire a movie script writer to come up with different (but at-least original???) kind of AD??? Why wonder?? Goshhh!! I almost forgot?? - Obama is a Xerox Machine for Change…. copying Senator Hillary Clinton plans…
Please!!! Be ORIGINAL!!! XEROX-MAN!!
Hillary’s early morning phone calls were from Monica returning Bill’s phone calls. .
on the issue of experience, Obama`s record/experience is a joke by comparison…Hillary`s been to no less than 80 countries…helping any way she could…in addition, here`s just some of All Hillary`s achievements/experiences as a US Senator:
In 2000, Hillary was elected to the United States Senate from New York. As Senator, Hillary has continued her advocacy for children and families and has been a national leader on homeland security and national security issues.
After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Hillary worked with her colleagues to secure the funds New York needed to recover and rebuild. She fought to provide compensation to the families of the victims, grants for hard-hit small businesses, and health care for front line workers at Ground Zero. And she continues to work for resources that enable New York to grow, to improve homeland security for New York and other communities, and to protect all Americans from future attacks.
She is the first New Yorker ever to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee, working to see that America’s military has the necessary resources to protect our national security. She has visited troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and at Fort Drum in New York, home of the 10th Mountain Division and other New York bases, as well as at Walter Reed Military Hospital. She has learned first-hand the challenges facing American combat forces. Hillary passed legislation to track the health status of our troops so that conditions like Gulf War Syndrome would no longer be misdiagnosed. She is an original sponsor of legislation that expanded health benefits to members of the National Guard and Reserves and has been a strong critic of the Administration’s handling of Iraq.
But Hillary has recognized that we can’t ignore our problems at home while we face challenges overseas. She has introduced legislation to tie Congressional salary increases to an increase in the minimum wage, because she believes if America’s working people don’t deserve a raise, neither does Congress. She has supported a variety of middle-class tax cuts, including marriage penalty relief, property tax relief, and reduction in the Alternative Minimum Tax, and supports fiscally responsible pay-as-you-go budget rules. She helped pass legislation that encouraged investment to create jobs in struggling communities through the Renewal Communities program. She has championed legislation to bring broadband Internet access, which is so important in today’s information economy, to rural America.
In the Senate, Hillary has not wavered in her work to expand quality affordable health care to more Americans. She worked to strengthen the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which increased coverage for children in low income and working families. She authored legislation that has been enacted to improve quality and lower the cost of prescription drugs and to protect our food supply from bioterrorism. She sponsored legislation to increase America’s commitment to fighting the global HIV/AIDS crisis, and is now leading the fight for expanded use of information technology in the health care system to decrease administrative costs, lower premiums, and reduce medical errors.
Her strong advocacy for children continues in the Senate. Some of Hillary’s proudest achievements have been her work to ensure the safety of prescription drugs for children, with legislation now included in the Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act, and her legislation to help schools address environmental hazards. She has also proposed expanding access to child care. She has passed legislation that will bring more qualified teachers into classrooms and more outstanding principals to lead our schools.
Hillary has been a powerful advocate for women in the Senate. Her commitment to supporting the rights guaranteed in Roe v. Wade and to reducing the number of abortions by reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies was hailed by the New York Times as “frank talk…(and) a promising path.” Hillary is one of the original cosponsors of the Prevention First Act to increase access to family planning. Her fight with the Bush Administration ensured that Plan B, an emergency contraceptive, will be available to millions of American women and will reduce the need for abortions.
Hillary is strongly committed to making sure that every American has the right to vote in fair, accessible, and credible elections. She introduced the Count Every Vote Act of 2005 to ensure better protection of votes and to ensure that every vote is counted.
In 2006, New Yorkers reelected Hillary to the Senate with 67 percent of the vote.
omg … how many more millions of dollars did obama spend on commercials… and the media did not find one that was worth criticizing ?? yet the media is able to find fault with the one add that hillary puts out that has some substance… there we go again … down the sexual harassment trail…
i am a mom and i can relate to the phone call at 3 am… it is never good news… yet i never think it is a terrorist attack…
and yes it is a good way to say that if the country is getting bad news and things need handled who will be the person we feel most capable to handle a bad situation.
very simple question
and a very important one
it is a statement that cuts through all the
OBAMA DRAMA speeches…
one question
i love the ad!!!
Go to this site and read the truth.

Obama’s time for a change campaign is to please any and all, promise all that same chicken in the pot. Possible if all have the same and equal needs. Big goverment, the sitter may be just around the corner.
…it’s 3 a.m. and your children
…
sue…when i was watching earlier, both FOX and CNN praised Hillary`s new ad…and stated things like, “Well…I thought the new ad was very effective…and that Obama`s response was awkward and weak.”
let me ask you…you weren`t watching MSNBC…were you?…asking because this is the most Obamatized/Anti-Hillary news station out there…
…it’s 3 a.m. and the phone is ringing. Hello…Bill and Hill, This is Osama bin Laden… the deposit has been made into the usual off shore account. Now please pull the troops out …
Whether it’s someone who already knows the world’s leaders, knows the military - someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world,” asking “who do you want answering the phone?”
**** COLIN LUTHER POWELL ****
I think that Hillary’s ad backfired and Obama’s response to the 3a.m. ad backfired too. When I see the ad, I can only see John McCain answering the red phone. He’s the only one with real military experience. Both Democratic candidates are the talk peace, “Can’t we just get along?” candidates who don’t understand the real threat of terrorism.
well…there`s plenty of time for Hillary to pick the right advisors…i trust Hillary to do this wisely…over the greatly inexperienced Obama who showed on nat. TV, and to all our enemies/terrorists, a basic lack of knowledge…about how the military is structured…and, at least with HRC, one gets Bill too…who would be a good advisor…
with that in mind, most of the vets and military are endorsing either Hillary or McCain.
i agree that a similar ad would be quite effective for McCain should Obama emerge the winner.
General Colin Powell would have been my first choice of a leader, Condileeza Rice would have also been good. I’d have been camped out at the polls to be the first vote for either of them!!
In the 1970’s there was this little thing called watergate. It led to the resignation of President Nixon and President Ford taking office. During the next presidential election, Jimmy Carter raised several issues regarding watergate which led to President Ford not being re-elected. Part of the message delivered then was change. Americans bought the idea.
During President Carter’s watch, there was the “housing” of 52 “American Guests” by Iran. This went on for 444 days. Americans learned for a short time that not all change is good. After 4 years, President Carter was gone, but there were Americans who continue to endure the hardships because of a hope for change.
During the 1990’s there were several instances where we had the opportunity to deal with Osama Bin Laden but those opportunities were not exploited and we all have felt the brunt of those missteps.
Now we hear about the hope of change once again. But this time it is from a Monday morning quarterback. It is easy to point a finger after the ball has been put into play and you were not in harm’s way and could see from the varying angles…after the fact. It is easy to hypothesize what you would have done…if only, or to provide insight as to what your stance was…without ever making it known prior to the ball being put into play.
If the red phone was to ring, hindsight will only be a factor to the new Monday morning quarterbacks who now have the upper hand of hindsight.
This is not fear mongoring…it is reality. I found it interesting that even though I do not think Hillary Clinton has what it takes to make a decision if the phone was to ring, I saw no evidence that this was somehow an attack against Mr. Obama.
The only thing to fear, is fear itself. And by the reaction to this commercial, I believe we know who really is scared.
Black delegates under pressure to switch to Obama
Story Highlights
African-American superdelegates facing growing racial pressure and threats
Rep. John Lewis is the latest Clinton supporter to switch to Obama
Other African-American politicians find the shifting loyalties disturbing
From Carol Costello
CNN
CLEVELAND, Ohio (CNN) — With the Democratic race extremely tight, the party’s superdelegates — the 800 or so unpledged elected officials and party members — are facing growing racial pressure, and even threats, to back Sen. Barack Obama.
In Cleveland, Ohio, a predominantly African-American city, black voters are hoping Obama becomes the next president of the United States. But that’s making it very difficult for the people who represent them.
Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell, a onetime supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton, is switching sides to the Obama camp.
It had little to do with Clinton and everything to do with pressure from people who voted him into office.
“I thought that I would never see an African-American going for president of the United States of America. This is a dream and you need to get on the right side of history, and my residents want me to be a part of this dream,” Conwell said.
Other nationally prominent politicians have experienced similar pressure. Three African-American superdelegates have also defected, including Georgia Rep. John Lewis, a longtime Clinton ally. Watch Lewis endorse Obama »
“There comes a time when you have to make a decision. As a superdelegate to the Democratic Convention … I will be casting my vote for Barack Obama,” Lewis told WSB-TV in Atlanta Wednesday.
But other African-American politicians find the shifting loyalties disturbing. Watch how race may be a factor in this year’s election »
“With all due respect to my colleagues, whoever you are, I firmly believe if you don’t have loyalty and integrity, what do you have? … I am a woman of my word. I will not leave her,” said Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones.
Neither will California Rep. Diane Watson, though she said she’s received not only pressure, but also threatening e-mails.
“We can disagree. But I don’t think that’s a cause for viciousness and for launching a campaign against me,” Watson said.
Their continued loyalty is no doubt a plus for the Clinton campaign — although her campaign has said Clinton understands.
“People have to make their own decisions and you have to respect their decisions and say, OK, I have to reach that many more people and ask for their respect,” said Ann Lewis, a senior adviser to Clinton.

thanks for the link,,,,,i can,t beleive this,,,,,,its redicilous,,he is f,,,liar,,,,,,
The more I read about Obama, the more fearful I become. His record of drugs, association with criminals, the radical black only church and dirty politics. The worldwide support of every muslim group in the world with money and endorsement. Louis Farrakhan, with his Nation of Isalm is a real concern and Obama’s church endorsed him. Obama is not presidential material. His black only mentality is very troublesome and not right for our country. Both Obama and his wife received Ivy League education through affirmative action, but now they are finally proud of our country. Neither of the Obama’s had the grades or finance for the Ivy League college education, but the taxpayer got stuck with the huge expense. Don’t you get that warm and fuzzy feeling regarding the Obama’s. I didn’t use his middle name.
Thank God! People have snapped out of this trance, we want Hillary to stay in the race until Obama’s laundry all airs out…. and as you will find…there is just as much enthusiasm in learning about his faults and laundry that the media “especially” that media machine that CNN has exposed as to what I call a Hillary CNN Bashing Machine… CNN led to this unevenness in race and the truths of a real democratic race itself. I believe whether or not if you are a Christian or not, you should specifically make sure what the core beliefs of your church are…and I’m not into an all black belief based church that Obama represents. I want a church that believes for my core beliefs as well, especially if they are going to be president.. WAIT A MINUTE - Don’t forget they haven’t even got into the Rezko story yet,,,That starts March 3rd,,,,, however in the past week you have seen some good Obama Bashing and WELL DESERVED after all the Hillary bashing. They believe pretty much the same things but experience prevails as to who can accomplish what CAST YOUR VOT FOR HILLARY - THE CLINTON DAYS BROUGHT PROSPERITY TO ALL>>>>>>>>>>>>>
RIGHT ON TO BOYCOTTING CNN
However, it should be until the November elections, what do you really get from them but constant negative coverage against only one FEMALE PERSON Hillary R. Clinton.
SHAME ON YOU, CNN YOU HAVE FALLEN FROM GRACE
SHAME ON YOU, CNN FOR BEING BIAS
SHAME ON YOU, CNN FOR NOT BEING A GENUINE NEWS CHANNEL
SHAME ON YOU, CNN FOR BEING ANTI-IMIGRANTS FROM MEXICO
SHAME ON YOU CNN, FOR BEING THE BEST “Barack Hussein Obama’s” POLITICAL TEAM
Looking from the outside in, President Bill Clinton was the best President the USA had in the last 20 years. Now you have the worst in history in George Bush.
Hillary in every debate has answered her questions clearly and in detail while Obama just sits there and responds with ‘ I agree with Hillary and furthermore…”. This is enough proof that demonstrates he is definitely not cut out for the job.
The media gave Hillary a rough ride. The media keeps throwing out these obscure polls where this demographic here is gaining for Obama here and another obscure poll the media throws out thats says Obama that…so what’s up with the media ?
Obama says too he wants to go and talk with the US adversaries with no preconditions. Absurd !! Why is anybody even buying into this guy’s jive talk ?
I want to add too that this is the worst and most biased media coverage of a primary and Presidential election I’ve ever seen. I challenge anyone to prove I’m wrong. I’ve been proven right in these political matters 9 times out of 10 and I’m sure I’m right now.
Obama or McCain as President will be a very bad thing for the USA.
Obama has a history of ruthless and dirty politics: From a story about how he first gained public office in the Illinois State Senate: (Chicago Tribune April 4, 2007): The day after New Year’s 1996, operatives for Barack Obama filed into a barren hearing room of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners. There they began the tedious process of challenging hundreds of signatures on the nominating petitions of state Sen. Alice Palmer, the longtime progressive activist from the city’s South Side. And they kept challenging petitions until every one of Obama’s four Democratic primary rivals was forced off the ballot. His overwhelming legal onslaught signaled his impatience to gain office, even if that meant elbowing aside an elder stateswoman like Palmer. A close examination of Obama’s first campaign clouds the image he has cultivated throughout his political career: The man now running for president on a message of giving a voice to the voiceless first entered public office not by leveling the playing field, but by clearing it. One of the candidates he eliminated, long-shot contender Gha-is Askia, now says that Obama’s petition challenges belied his image as a champion of the little guy and crusader for voter rights. “He talks about honor and democracy, but what honor is there in getting rid of every other candidate so you can run scot-free? Why not let the people decide?” Had Palmer survived the petition challenge, Obama would have faced the daunting task of taking on an incumbent senator. Palmer’s elimination marked the first of several fortuitous political moments in Obama’s electoral success: He won the 2004 primary and general elections for U.S. Senate after tough challengers imploded when their messy divorce files were unsealed. Hence, his rapid ascent to power…
I absolutely have to disagree with this. The highlights that you have mentioned are two that yes, should be commended - however is record IS subject to much dispute concerning the times in which he has chosen, consciously NOT to vote on imperative issues within the Senate.
For instance: In 1999 Senator Obama was faced with an extremely difficult vote in the Illinois legislature, a bill which would allow Juveniles to be tried as adults. This had massive implications for African Americans and the potential to cause great controversy within that group.
VOTE: Neither yes or no. He voted ‘Present’ - effectively meaning he side stepped the issue.
130 OTHER times he took this stance within the Senate. On this note, when you state that you are shocked at the cries of millions of Americans who state that Obama lacks substance, on this issue who can really dispute this notion?
Although voting ‘present; is not unusual - it does raise the fundamental premise on which his campaign had been founded upon: he has tried to distinguish himself from Senator Clinton as a somebody who is ready to lead, who does despite popular belief, have the experience and tenacity with which to lead this incredibly bruised country.
He has not however, proved through this 130 - Present - record - that he can take on the tough issues - the issues which will undoubtedly face him on ‘Day One’ and shape the lives of the American people - if they issues present a hard line or a hard truth that people might not want to digest.
His record reflects also something else - at least 36 times Senator Obama was the ONLY state senator to vote present or was part of a tiny minority (5/6).
This is clearly with motive as opposed to being mindful of the issues at hand - his present votes stood out amongst widespread support because he has admittedly confessed to use them to register objections to part of the Bill - an act which you do, if you are mindful of running the risk of saying ‘No’. It clearly gives him political cover.
So I ask you - is this transparency…..
No….it really is more of the same. Washington Politics at its finest….
No ‘Change’ there then - a term he has so often brandished and banded around to fit his rhetoric….this time Senator Obama, I am certainly not falling for it. I hope to goodness the American people follow the lead.
Hopefully, CNN watched SNL last night. The Clinton/Obama debate
skit spoke volumes. CNN is bias in favor of Obama.
I can’t tell the difference between watching the FOX network from
CNN or any other of the major networks.
ALL our media sources suffer from Obamania!
Thankfully, SNL nailed it!
I hope CNN tries to regain some objectivity.
First of all Obama voted for NAFTA himself in 2004 and if people especially you young voters would stop following the media; Have you ever stopped and thought that the younger generation has grown up to be media kids, meaning in a lot of instances they vote for what the media represents as the going thing - like “Obama” without even researching all the facts. Simply amazing.
Hillary won that debate in Texas and Ohio, Obama got to study… and stumble his way through the whole thing and got to respond to Hillary’s thoughts before he spoke…HMMM and you wonder why Hillary questioned why did she haven’t to go first…hmm…probably because again, the media gave him chances to respond - he looked like Hillary’s Secretary, not a Presidential Leader - Get real,,,,,,,,,,,,She roped him, hands down and HELLO TEXAS AND OHIO DON”T BE BOUGHT BY THE MEDIA!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Obama supports the upper-middle class, not the poor, average Americans searching for HOPE, you must be able to see through all these nice spoken words………………..
It’s amazing to me that people are voting for “Obama” someone that does not follow our country’s traditions, no hand during the pledge, “a Muslim past”. It’s kind of scary to see how someone can give such wonderful speeches and the media can be so biased of Hillary and he gets a free ride with free media coverage, just crazy… he’s a dreamer without any substance and HOPE is not going to change this country’s direction based on WORDS.
GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WAKE UP TEXAS, WE HAVE SOME WORK TO DO….OBAMANIA IS A FALSE HOPE THAT SPELLS TROUBLE…….
“Obama, Clinton Donating Heavily to Superdelegates’ Campaigns
by Associated Press
Thursday, February 14, 2008
The study tracked donations received by members of Congress from the candidates’ leadership PACs and from their candidate committees. It tracked donations made to governors by examining the presidential candidates’ expenditures.
Among the findings:
— Since 2005, Obama’s committees gave $228,000 to superdelegates who have endorsed him, $363,900 to those who were still undecided, and $102,400 to those who have endorsed Clinton.
–Clinton’s committee’s gave $95,000 to superdelegates who have endorsed her, $88,000 to those who
were still neutral, and $12,500 to those who have endorsed Obama.
Email Misrepresents Hillary’s Legislative Record
There is an email circulating that grossly misrepresents Hillary’s legislative record, as well as the record of Sen. Obama. (Various versions appear on the Obama campaign website here, here, and here.)
The email only gives Hillary credit for bills where she was the original sponsor and have also been signed into law. Here are the facts. In her time in the Senate, Hillary has sponsored 21 bills that have become law including:
— a bill that extended the availability of unemployment assistance.
— a bill which established a program to assist family caregivers.
— a bill that provided benefits to public safety officers who were killed or injured during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
But Hillary’s accomplishments in the Senate are not limited to bill sponsorships. Among her many other legislative accomplishments:
— Hillary worked with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to expand access to health care for the National Guard and Reserve.
— Hillary passed an amendment that created a national program for teacher and principal training and recruitment.
— Hillary used Senate rules to force the Bush administration to make emergency contraception, also known as Plan B, available over the counter.
Meanwhile, the email gives Sen. Obama credit for every bill he introduced or signed on as a co-sponsor, whether or not they became law. The reality is, since Sen. Obama joined the Senate (applying the same standard the email applies to Hillary) he has sponsored two bills that have become law:
— a bill that sought to promote democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
— a bill that named a post office.
has become the Senate’s point man on ethics and now says he will no longer accept rides on corporate jets. This after having accepted 23 such flights, some to attend his own fundraisers, in 2005 alone. He joined only a handful of Democrats in voting against a Senate reform banning the widespread practice of legislators hiring their family members on their campaign or PAC payrolls. He does, after all have a very activist wife.
“OBAMA” is a Republican in a donkey suit.
Ethical questions also surround Obama’s shady real estate deal and relationship with indicted political fundraiser and Arab-American activist Tony Rezko, who befriended Obama during his Harvard days.
Obama bought a $1.65 million dollar mansion at a gigantic discounted price, some $300,000 less than the asking price. The same day, Rezko’s wife bought the adjoining lot, paying the full $625,000 asking price. The Rezko involvement invited a second question for Obama: did Rezko’s wife in effect subsidized Obama’s purchase of the opulent home and also provided an abutting private preserve that adds to its ambience? The lot isn’t accessible from the public street but can be reached from Obama’s property.
Pretty good for a guy earning $165,200 per and who once ran his credit cards up so high that the credit card company denied him access to further use of his card.
Obama has proven himself to be a nearly perfect leftist dhimmicrat. He supports homosexual marriage, racial preferences, gun control, flag-burning, socialized medicine and the absolute right to abortion, including partial-birth abortions. He is anti-war, voted against the reauthorization of the USA Patriot Act, against privatizing Social Security and opposes the death penalty, three strikes laws and school vouchers. He has no military service record.
He believes in the separation of church and state — except when he campaigns in black churches.
He loves Jimmy Carter and is the 18th most liberal member of the Senate, receiving a 100% rating from Americans for Democratic Action, NARAL Pro -Choice America, National Organization for Women, the NAACP and the National Education Association.
Some may say that this backgrounder is biased, however, perception is everything in politics and both Ted Kennedy and CNN (Cable News Network) have mistakenly referred to Obama as Osama (as in Ben Laden).
I just don’t believe America will ever elect an urban-liberal, apostate Muslim and self-admitted drug user to the Office of the President of the United States.
What really scares me, though, is that I could be wrong.
Inspiration is nice. But some folks seem to be getting out of hand.
It’s as if Tom Daschle descended from on high saying, “Be not afraid; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people: for there is born to you this day in the city of Chicago a Savior, who is Barack the Democrat.”
Obama supporter Kathleen Geier writes that she’s “getting increasingly weirded out by some of Obama’s supporters. On listservs I’m on, some people who should know better – hard-bitten, not-so-young cynics, even – are gushing about Barack…
Describing various encounters with Obama supporters, she writes, “Excuse me, but this sounds more like a cult than a political campaign. The language used here is the language of evangelical Christianity – the Obama volunteers speak of ‘coming to Obama’ in the same way born-again Christians talk about ‘coming to Jesus.’…So I say, we should all get a grip, stop all this unseemly mooning over Barack, see him and the political landscape he is a part of in a cooler, clearer, and more realistic light, and get to work.”
Joe Klein, writing at Time, notes “something just a wee bit creepy about the mass messianism” he sees in Obama’s Super Tuesday speech.
“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” Obama said. “This time can be different because this campaign for the presidency of the United States of America is different. It’s different not because of me. It’s different because of you.”
Says Klein: “That is not just maddeningly vague but also disingenuous: the campaign is entirely about Obama and his ability to inspire. Rather than focusing on any specific issue or cause — other than an amorphous desire for change — the message is becoming dangerously self-referential. The Obama campaign all too often is about how wonderful the Obama campaign is. “
The always interesting James Wolcott writes that “(p)erhaps it’s my atheism at work but I found myself increasingly wary of and resistant to the salvational fervor of the Obama campaign, the idealistic zeal divorced from any particular policy or cause and chariot-driven by pure euphoria. I can picture President Hillary in the White House dealing with a recalcitrant Republican faction; I can’t picture President Obama in the same role because his summons to history and call to hope seems to transcend legislative maneuvers and horse-trading; his charisma is on a more ethereal plane, and I don’t look to politics for transcendence and self-certification.”
Then there’s MSNBC’s Chris Matthews who tells Felix Gillette in the New York Observer, “I’ve been following politics since I was about 5. I’ve never seen anything like this. This is bigger than Kennedy. [Obama] comes along, and he seems to have the answers. This is the New Testament.”
And behold, Obama met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.
The Holy Season of Lent is upon us. Can Obama worshippers try to give up their Helter-Skelter cult-ish qualities for a few weeks?
At least until Easter, or the Pennsylvania primary, whichever comes first…
UPDATE: Let me be clear: I’m not saying there shouldn’t be enthusiasm in politics. I’m merely touching on the fact that some Obama supporters’ exuberance seems to be getting a little out of hand. Obama himself joked about this at a Hollywood fundraiser, as noted in Men’s Vogue:
“When Morgan Freeman comes over to greet Obama, the senator begins bowing down both hands in worship. ‘This guy was president before I was,’ says Obama, referring to Freeman’s turn in Deep Impact and, clearly, getting a little ahead of his own bio. Next, a nod to Bruce Almighty: ‘This guy was God before I was.’”
Great job, Hillary on your win in New Mexico! Continue to campaign and reinforce to the average American worker that Obama continues to give invigorating speeches, but has never provided a plan to improve health care. Also, he has never addressed the high gas prices, heating bills, grocery bills. I applaud Obama for motivating speeches but we need someone who will produce and who actually has a plan to help the middle class struggling families. The term “Change” is only a word if you don’t have a plan!
“OBAMA” is a Republican in a donkey suit.
The devil-in-a-blue-dress gig was smokin’ Oval Office fun for Leno-&-Letterman to make Yucks-&-Bucks from Slick-Willy’s national disgrace.
It would be a real DRAG to have the pantsuit-QUEEN in the Oval Office.
NO 3RD TERM FOR BILLARY!!!
Oh my gosh. Barack can’t even come up with his own ad. He stole Hillary’s and changed the ending. Why was he so upset? Hillary never mentioned his name. How did he recognize she was referring to him? The truth hurts.
So much for a positive campaign Barack!!!

LMAO, he wastes no time responding quickly with good judgment… that’s who I want answering the phone!
“President Barack Hussein Obama, Commander and Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces!”
You have to be kidding. I don’t want to wake up at 3 am during an international crisis and hear my Commander in Chief say; “Don’t worry Americans. I have everything under control … I Had a Dream”
As Commander in Chief, Hussein Obama’s response to an international Crisis: “Hello Hillary. Sorry to wake you at 3 am again, but I have another international crisis I don’t have any idea how to deal with … could you please help me again. Please Hillary, just one more time”.
Sen. Hillary Clinton regularly bashes the mortgage industry, especially the management of Countrywide Financial Corp., the troubled lender that has come to symbolize the crisis. She doesn’t mention her presidential campaign’s connections to the company.
One of Sen. Clinton’s chief campaigners within the Hispanic community in Texas, which holds a primary Tuesday, has been Henry Cisneros, a political leader from San Antonio who served as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under Sen. Clinton’s husband. Until late last year, Mr. Cisneros sat on the board of Countrywide, one of the most-lucrative board seats in Corporate America. The position grossed him more than $5 million in stock sales since 2001 and paid him a $360,000 salary in 2006, Securities and Exchange Commission records show.
A crisis-management public-relations firm headed by Mark Penn, the Clinton campaign’s chief strategist, was hired by Countrywide to restore its image and employee morale shortly after the company reported a $1.2billion third-quarter loss and announced massive layoffs. Chief Executive Officer Angelo Mozilo said at the time that the company was being “demonized something fierce.”
One of the more vocal critics has been New York Sen. Clinton, who is in a tight race for the Democratic presidential nomination. In a recent television interview, she cast Mr. Mozilo as “one of the principal architects of this whole house of cards” that has become the subprime mortgage fiasco.
In a debate in January, Sen. Clinton criticized the generous severance package Mr. Mozilo initially expected as part of Countrywide’s pending purchase by Bank of America Corp. “You know, the priorities and the values are absolutely wrong,” Sen. Clinton said.
In a telephone interview, Mr. Cisneros said that while he agrees with the broad housing policies Sen. Clinton has outlined, he believes she’s wrong to vilify Countrywide. “A perfect storm” led to its troubles, he said, adding that history will show “Countrywide is not the Enron that some people have described it as.”
When Mr. Cisneros left the Countrywide board and its audit-and-operations committee in October, he praised Mr. Mozilo, writing in his resignation letter that his confidence in the long-time CEO “is unwavering.” The SEC is investigating past accounting practices—and Mr. Mozilo’s 2007 stock sales. There is no indication Mr. Cisneros is part of the probe.
Mr. Cisneros said he hasn’t spoken to Sen. Clinton about her statements regarding Mr. Mozilo or Countrywide. “I don’t agree with the characterization of Angelo Mozilo as ‘the architect of this whole house of cards,’” Mr. Cisneros said. He said that he, too, “had issues” with the size of Mr. Mozilo’s severance package and said he resigned, in part, because he wasn’t “in the position to influence, at a detailed level, some of the things I thought should be done.”
Mr. Cisneros said he sold the stock he received in compensation from Countrywide on a “fairly consistent” schedule over several years to raise cash for his own development company, Los Angeles-based Cityview. He said he continues to hold approximately 25,000 shares of Countrywide.
Jay Carson, a Clinton spokesman, said Mr.Cisneros will continue to hold a high profile in the campaign. “He’s an old friend and a great asset,” Mr. Carson said. The two are scheduled to campaign together this evening at a rally in San Antonio.
Mr. Penn replied to questions in an email, saying: “For several weeks, Countrywide was one of 1,500 clients at the WPP-owned firm of Burson-Marsteller,” the public relations firm where he has served as global chief executive at the same time he has worked for the Clinton campaign. “I personally did no work for them,” he added.
The Clinton campaign declined to comment on Mr. Penn’s connection to Countrywide.
Countrywide didn’t return a phone message to its press office seeking comment.
Sen. Clinton’s campaign has rece
