Obama’s Experience Questioned by Local Newsman

At a town hall meeting in Beaumont, Texas, Barack Obama fielded a tough question from a man standing in the front row of the 1,500 strong crowd, which had been cheering loudly at every  applause line. “You’re the junior senator from Illinois and you have not finished your first term,” the man began. “And you’ve got this audience all in the palm of your hands, but you have 200 million people that you have to convince by November, that you have the experience to take over all these issues. How do you tell them that you have the experience?”

The crowd began heckling the man, who turned out to be the news director for KBMT-TV, the local ABC affiliate in town. Obama tried to answer the man, but the pro-Obama/anti-questioner crowd continued to jeer. “No, no, no - listen. Wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait everybody that was a legitimate question. That was a legitimate question,” Obama said to try to quiet the audience.

“I mean the one point I would just make right off the top, right off the bat is this question has been asked for the last 13 months, so it’s not like you’re the first one who’s thought of this question,” Obama said confidently. “There has not been a debate, there has not been a forum with the other candidates where this question hasn’t been answered. We’ve now had primaries and caucuses in 35 states and there are a whole bunch of people who appear satisfied by my response. Let me give it once again,” he said sharply.

Standing a few feet away from the man and looking down at him from the stage, Obama ran through his CV, talking about his experience as a community organizer, a civil rights attorney, a constitutional law professor (”at one of the top law schools in the country”), a state senator, and a U.S. senator. The crowd approved of his credentials and cheered. “I’m not done, I’m not done. Sit down everybody, settle down. I’m not done,” he said

“The point is - I’ve got 20 years of experience. I haven’t been in Washington as long as some of the other candidates, so if your criteria for who the best equipped is to be president is how long you’ve been there, then we shouldn’t have even had a primary and a caucus - we could have just looked at Joe Biden, who’d been there the longest and settled it that way. But I think what the American people are looking for is not just longevity, but they’re looking for judgment and they’re looking for  who can bring the people together,” Obama finished.

The audience member/news director took a step towards the stage, apparently satisfied with Obama’s response. “Uh oh!” Obama let out as a Secret Service agent raised his hands to stop the man. Obama received the man’s extended hand.  “I appreciate it. I think I convinced him. All right, there you go, I got his vote.”

It’s unclear if the newsman was there for work purposes or for pleasure, but a reporter and camera crew from his station were on hand to cover the event.

He should have asked Obama why he voted “present” on so many issues, but opposed the Ill Senate from adopting language modeled after the Born Alive Infant’s Protection Act which was unanimously passed through the Us House and Senate a year before. Effectively, Obama took a stand to terminate the lives of preterm newborns - this guy makes Clinton, Boxer, and Kennedy look like “right to lifers”!!

I’m amazed that Clinton staff/supporters, the media and church officials haven’t pressed him on this. Clinton would have already been branded a baby killer had she voted like this and the US catholic bishops would have already been on her back. Instead, church leaders and other influential officals have baptised him our new age messiah.

Who in his/her right mind wants to unify around Obama’s crazy left wing agenda???

good answer not very tough question. Like moderators in debates one can ask more detailed questions about issues that havn’t been talked at lenght. Most questions are too hypothethical or too general so one makes its very easy to answer with a rehearsed statement. Nonetheless Obama is right that length of stay in political arena doesn’t mean that much its what you do with your beliefs and energy, and action will follow. If its plausable yes, can he accomplish things, probably with compromise; fresh, new exciting era; and only through that and with his natural charisma things have at least a chance to change. I can’t see any positive element of Mccain maybe slightly better than Bush and co but overall bit dull and sedated with no fresh new innovative ideas (like no recession no bit of a downturn; big improvement in Iraq reality only slightly and very precarious). Was not convinced of obama canditature but especially since last debate he did excellent and return the remark of McCain found that a classic eventhough very easy score.

@ Ari

Actually McCain came out on top in that exchange.

What god of what kind of bible moves Obama to support the heinous act of infatacide ?………………………….. A poor judgement ?

For anyone who thinks Obama is unqualified or inexperienced, I have just two words to remember: George Bush. There’s no possible way Obama could screw things up as badly as Bush has done in 7 years. Plus, we’ve tried things the GOP way for that time and it’s gone terribly! Give the other side a chance.

there will be always some extreem views; not sure which media or education they follow but very narrow minded view. Some try to push these extreem ‘christian’ views of unborn lives or stem cell research, glad that doesn’t hold in this campaign, science is evolving and should be supported. Still amazing to watch how McCain makes mistakes, everyday makes it worse. If Obama doesn’t make slam dunk he utters another remark that diminishes his character. I can’t see Obama making any mistakes, large support base, money, and almost the whole wider world likes to see him win. As it looks now he is unstoppable, while McCain is still in puzzles. Trying to gather a fractured party, with not really much enthousiastic backing; its like building a structure on quicksand or say after a hurricane we are fine at least the sun is shining. total lack of reality and vision, just stalemate and ad hoc approach. I can’t imagine McCain for president, (possible not likable) no vision ,no charisma, age!!! and no consistency on standing of issues.

It’s about time that Obama is finally being investigated for the hollow candidate that he is. The endorsement from Farrakhan to Obama should put chills through every voters spine, add Pastor Wright to the mix and we have some real problems!

Stop falling for the Obama “Hussein” speeches of hopes and dreams. They are just fantasies like the ground hog speeches he continues to give on a daily basis!! Ugh…

Subject: Father/Daughter Talk

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and among many other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs…in other words: redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had, for years, harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day, she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich, and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity, proclaimed by her professors, had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like the other people she knew. She didn’t even have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends because she spent all of her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked: “How is your friend Audrey doing?” To which she replied: “Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus that college, for her, is a blast! She’s always invited to all of the parties and, lots of times, she doesn’t even show-up for classes because she’s too hung-over.”

Her father asked her: “Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off of your GPA and give it to your friend, Audrey, who only has a 2.0. That way, you will both have a 3.0 GPA and, certainly, that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.”

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back: “That’s a crazy idea! How would that be fair? I’ve worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time and a lot of hard work. Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!”

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently: “Welcome to the Republican Party.”

He say she say. You people are not smart enough to wait for the facts before you pass judgement. We live in a society where everything the media says has to be second guessed because they are looking for ratings. You all need to find your inner intelligence and wait for all the facts. A Obama supporter but no name. What is the difference between what they are reporting and what was reported about McCain. Bottom line is he f..ked that lady and you all know it.

*florida* its a free country and free speech what people say about you like or dislike you can hardly control. As for McCain other thing standing on same podium after stump speech of cunningham, and your own party affiliate in Tennessee; Overall Obama much less bagage, younger and a vision (which encapsulates the word change plus action) And think McCain fine as senator but looses the plot what he says or does in campaign seems like a pinball and doesn’t what to hit since everytime the ball comes back at him.

Obama never answered the question…He done what he always does went around the world about his community serivce on the”hard streets of Chicago”. To be honest the average juvenile deliquent serves anywhere from 30-40 hours of community service so does this mean that any community director can become president? This has nothing to do with how long someone has been in Washington he has never been in charge of any major company or staff and you are ready to put him in charge of the free world. You wouldn’t put the guy who runs the after school program in the Oval Office would you?

Considering most of them have not done anything for years but be in Congress and only work 100 days out of the year. They have no realistic view of the hardworking American. I also do not think the presidential candidates should promise a to give away money that is not there. I can balance my checkbook, can those in Washington.

Obama’s answers are never straight to the issue. They are always glamourized by his continual politicking. He claims to be fresh and new but it’s getting very very old. During debates with Clinton he climbs on her back and parrots her. Am I the only one who sees this. He is learning as he goes. Not too calming to me.. He has LIMITED world experience. Being a local state congressman and local worker just isn’t the same. Come on let’s get real here. He does not have the required experience and the harder the questions are the more that is showing up. No vote here. I’ll stick to experience this round. I want a leader not a cheerleader.

Comment by Utah independent

MSW you are not the only one to see Obama parrots Clinton. I don’t think it really makes any difference to Obama supporters. They are on a part of a movement to change the United States and the world. It is very ahrd to see past the movement to the reality of where it leads.

If you vote for Obama you are saying okay to a Black KKK in a sense.

What about the “Rezko trial beg. March 3rd”, what will this bring…… We need to be very careful and wait and let Obamas dirty laundry air before we make him KING.. We have moved on from the KKK values, we don’t need to go backwards, this is not what MLK would have wanted…

I see that are several folks out there who think that Obama is not a straight talker.

My guess is you also think that Geroge Bush was a straight talker. I will give you that.

George Bush warned us about the uranium, Saddam Hussein had. George Bush mades us believe that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. George Bush/Donald Rumsfeld said the war would be a cake walk.

If Barrack Obama is not a straight talker, then what does this make George Bush?

Comment by Michael in Atlanta

To the American Conservative.

There is probably very little difference between Hillary and Obama other than the fact that Conservatives hate Hillary, because of her record. Obama is well liked, Hillary is not.

I am curious as to why a conservative is looking at the difference between Hillary and Obama.

Are you thinking about voting for one of them base on that difference? Probably not I guess.

My guess is, you want justify your non-support of Obama.

It is too bad you have to settle for John McCain as the Republican base has clearly taken a step towards the LEFT. Maybe you are going to vote for Hillary or Obama. You are probably not the first conservative to realize that Hannity and Limbaugh have lost their influence.

Ari writes…

Overall Obama much less bagage, younger and a vision <<<

Yeah Timothy Leary had a vision too. Everyone has a vision. Personally I disagree with Obama’s particular vision as I have a tendency to believe that I know what is best for me and I don’t need the government dictating the terms of my life…which is precisely what his vision is.

As far as the baggage….factcheck and other watchdog organizations may disagree with you. Factcheck has exposed Obama as engaging in FAR more deception than McCain and Obama has problems with Rezko, Wright, and now Bill Ayers (although we’ll see if there is anything to that). I think you underestimate the impact his church will have and if there is anything to this Ayers thing it could be disasterous. For now I reserve judgement on that until more information becomes available. He is also a flaming liberal and despite his rhetoric about unity his voting record does not show him to be a uniter. Obama has way more baggage than you think.

As far as his age….who cares. The guy has barely cut his teeth in Washington, his foreign policy is naive at best and flat out dangerous at worst, and he has stated openly he will raise taxes. I have not seen a guy run on the platform of “vote for me and I will raise your taxes” since Walter Mondale and look how that turned out.

Now all that being said Obama could win on the power of his speaking ability alone but that doesn’t mean he knows what he is doing.

Scott919… I agree with you about people dictating how your home is being ran but I think that ’s what all Politicians do(dictate your life). If Obama’s politics don’t work for you that’s OK but right now a lot Americans think opposite! We can all sit here and say we’re running to the mountains if he win ; we know it’s a lie! We will all sit here and complain like we’ve been doing for the past 7 and half years!

I guess what an awful lot of you don’t seem to understand is that millions of people have already indicated that they aren’t interested in what Clinton has to offer! They’ve indicated they are ready for a change that doesn’t incorporate with it - the old politics so familiar to everyone.

This blog is anti-Obama. I think its funny that the general public is so quick to jump to conclusions about people. Remember Hillary and the lawfirm she worked for and how all the evidence was gone when they decided to investigate. This is ridiculous. Obama didn’t do anything wrong. Ferakkhan or whatever isn’t Obama’s fault. He didn’t take the endorsement and doesn’t agree with what he has said. Obama is a good guy and honest for that matter. The critics are looking for rocks to throw at him and they are getting desperate. I think FOX is a sorry excuse for news. This is not the news this is a out and out slam toward Obama. I can’t believe you get paid to scrutinize people. Its a sorry world we live in because of people like you. Obama is ahead in the popular vote, delegate count, and almost in the superdelegates. Get a clue. No matter what you try to smear Obama with, its not going to work. He is pure for all of you corrupt minded people. You are used to the crooks and fraud in Washington. If Obama was in Washington longer then you would be trying to tie him to scandals. Why don’t you guys just shut up and let the people speak. My God, this is an embarrassment to our country. You guys get on tv and belittle the politicians that are in charge of legislation. You should be ashamed of yourselves. America has evolved and obviously FOX got left behind. VOTE OBAMA 08!!!

I agree with you Tim in Ohio… People have made their choice and it does not include old politics. I am for change and living in a Republican state like Texas it’s hard to get change when everyone agrees with their Great Great Grandparents! People have opened their minds to a Obama change and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that! SO if we can’t agree on change that’s OK we still have to live together! Lol :) !

It’s amazing to me how such a big ideal is being made over senator OBama’s [experience] or lack there of. Is it an oversight or some do not want to admit that none of our former presidents including Bill and Hillary Clinton had [prior experience] when they ran for the office of the presidency? Are you aware of any of the presidents who did time in the oval office before becoming president?

Are you familiar with Bill & Hillary’s first term in office.. 1993? I lived through it. For months they had negative press coverage and a trail of scandals followed them. “Whitewater” the Arkansas real estate deal in which they were involved, people went to jail, sex scandals, impeachment hearings, and the list goes on. All of this is a matter of record. Their first two or three years in the white house was tumultous. And now we want to penalize this man for running for office with as much experience as others had when they first ran?

The Clintons.. as did other candidates acquired their experience by being elected [without it] working through issues. They were GIVEN a chance when they had [NO] experience just raw talent !!! Some of you claim senator OBama has no substance, he’s making empty promises.. how do you know for certain? Is he doing any thing different than other presidential candidates before him did, making promises? Each [new] presidential candidate ran against some one [a president] who had four years of experience in office before them, unless they had already served two terms.

When Hillary tries to push her years of experience, ask her if she or Bill had it in 1993 when Bill ran for the presidency against George Bush Sr..but it never stopped them from running and winning. They had to start [some where] in order to acquire it. All they had going for them was unproven promises. They had to be given a chance to prove themselves.

Let the people decide who they want with out all this negativity. If a person would do [anything] to get into the white house, or to get their candidate elected, then I wonder what kind of integrity or values these people really possess or what kind of shady activity would occur once they arrive there.. No wonder our country is so messed up. We fight like cats and dogs, no fairness, it is all about what [we] want, our selfish ambitions, not what is [best] for the people. We step on each other to get what we want. We are so self centered.

Allow Senator OBama the same chance.. stop trying to discredit him just because you want your candidate to win. Some, rarely take time to check out facts then pay dearly in the end. Selfish people usually do.

I appreciate Obama’s answer to the question. I for one think he is very compelling, but I am not sold on substance. I have not made up my mind in this election.

I would like for Obama to move from experience to accomplishment. I think it would be helpful to see a list of…

As a community organizer… what did he deliver? #of people helped? In precisely what ways?

As a civil rights attorney… what cases did you win and what benefit was brought to what people?

As a teacher… what can you point to as accomplishment above and beyond the classroom? How did you use your influence there?

As a senator… what benefits did you deliver to the people? I’m not looking for activity or even stances… I’m looking for deliverables.

I hope my request for this information has been respectful. I am serious in my request for specific benefits delivered due to Obama.

But recent polling data confirms for me, despite all the horde of punditry proclaiming him a “phenom” with stronger general electorate appeal than Senator Clinton, that Senator Obama is very vulnerable in the general election and less likely to defeat Senator McCain than Senator Clinton. And so to all Democrats - especially those in Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania - I offer these facts and these arguments to take another look before if you believe Senator Obama is the stronger general election candidate.

In fact, many recent national polls show very little difference in head-to-head contests against Senator McCain between Senator Obama and Senator Clinton.

TAKE A LOOK FOLKS….
BEFORE YOU VOTE IN THE PRIMARY ELECTIONS
OHIO
TEXAS

THE NATION IS RETHINKING WHO CAN WIN AGAINST MCCAIN…DON’T WASTE YOUR VOTE!

HILLARY

According to a recent Washington Post/ABC survey, about 4 out of 10 primary voting Democrats in Ohio and Texas say that Barack Obama “does not have the kind of experience” necessary to “serve as president.” This compares to Senator Clinton, who is seen by most voters as having superior experience to be president as compared to Senator Obama, even by his own supporters.

This should be an extraordinary and worrisome piece of data for all Democrats who most of all want to win back the White House in 2008. Imagine: if 40% of self-identified voters planning to participate in the Ohio and Texas Democratic primaries feel that way,

Take another look at the electability question. Let your head, not your heart, rule — Senator Clinton has taken all the shots; she has the experience to make change happen; she is less vulnerable to the Republican attack machine. She will defeat John McCain. I worry that Senator Obama may not.

I know that Senator Obama is the front-runner. But I remain concerned about his electability. I find him inspirational, attractive, articulate and very intelligent. He has run an outstanding campaign. Close friends are ardently for him. I like him.

Go Jessica…. I am with you! Your right Fox got left behind just like the old politics that America is so use to. The problem is that they don’t have anything on him so they attack his name and his religion! Go Obama! And yes I’m blogging on Fox so people that entertain this mess will get a different side to the story!

@ Diva

So you insult us by saying we don’t know anything because we’re against Obama. My problem with Obama is he’s on the lunatic left fringe and I would vote for Daffy Duck, before I’d vote for Obama.

He’s more left wing than Ted Kennedy, that’s pretty bad.

Furthermore, I imagine you don’t know anything about history, that’s what gives me cause for concern.

1. His relationship with a terrorist
2. His church preaches hate
3. People whom are supporting him
4. His stances on issues
5. Comments made by his wife

It’s easy to dismiss one thing out of these, but all of them put together?

I dont understand the Extreme defensive Mode that Obama seems to go into as soon as he is questioned on any of his positions such as experience (Or the lack thereof) ? He becomes very angered, disturbed and very uncomposed when he is questioned. If you want to be President, you must keep your cool - All through the debates, you can see on his face the disgust as if to portray “How Dare You Ask Me This” . This is just my take on it but if you had tape record of the debates, you could see for your self.

Developing news from Texas today, that Hillary Clinton and her campaign are questioning the states competence to run an election. The Clinton campaign feels that the manor in which the state holds its primary and caucus is unfair and now wants to try and change the rules going into next weeks elections. This news has become unsettling with the states Democratic Party as well as voters who are questioning whether Hillary Clinton is trying to change the rules in the middle of the contest now that she has been on losing streak.
This coming after reports a couple of days ago in which Hillary Clinton attempted to claim the vote of the now deceased and former Governor Ann Richardson, who Clinton claims would have supported her if she were alive today. This led to her sons questioning Clinton as to how she would know what their mother would think.
The question now being asked by Texas voters is whether Hillary Clinton is out of touch with reality or just out of her mind?

Here is a very interesting and credible article that shows Obama’s limited successes whil in the Illinois Senate were not really his doing at all.

The Dem leader of the Senate (Emil Jones) literally said “I’m gonna make me a U.S. Senator.”

He shepherded all of Obama’s legislation, stepped all over peers with much more time and experience, and literally created the environment that allowed Obama to win the Dem nomination for Senator. In Illinois, that is almost a guarantee of a general election win.

To the news media..

We as americians watch the news for honest, good and fair coverage to keep us abreast on issues that confront our everyday lives. This coverage should come to us without being bias or prejudice. This election is important to all of us [as other areas of coverage] whether Democratics or Republicans, but you have tainted it with your political analysts and their analytical [opinions] that holds no more weight than ours and I feel this is done in order to sway viewers in this election. Opinions are just that. Facts are facts.
The candidates whether Republicans or Democratics are under tremendous pressure to get across to the american people their agenda. The media has made it a difficult process. The cannot concentrate on their message without having to watch every word they say because they know they will be put on trial in the court room of the media if they make one slip. I thought the media was for “reporting” the news. You have now become both judge and jury.

As soon as any of them make a slip of the tongue, wrong choice of words, as [most] of us do in every day conversations ..you as the media zero in on it, you bring in your [perfect] analysts to weigh in on it with [their opinions] thereby leaving a bad taste in our mouths.

These candidates have left their families behind at some point, going from town to town, city to city, state to state, loss of sleep, dealing with issues within their camp and a host of other things we can only imagine. Then they must come before the public to make a speech on top of all of that.. and dot every “I” and cross every “T”? .. and be shot down by the media. What ever happened to honest decent, journalism. Corruption is at the base of just about every thing we find ourselves involved in today.

We are quite capable of making up our own minds without being swayed in this manner by the media. We do not need or want their tainted opinions. I want to see the election in progress but I have a hard time watching it because of how each network chooses to scrutinize these candidates. Can you not find enough quality news to report with out dragging these people through the mud? Do you ever consider your mistakes [and we all make them]. Would you like them scrutinize in the eyes of the whole world.

These candidates cannot do a quality job under this kind of pressure.

Why does Sen. Obama think it would be best to start all over again? Experience does count. Change comes from HAVING experience. We can ill afford to go through a learning curve. If the media would concentrate on presenting facts verses their personal opinions, the facts in which President Clinton talked about today…would come out about Hillary. You need to hire different political strategists that aren’t so one sided. Where you present questions from, most often shows your personal views and does not put the facts out there for people see, measure, and vote on. People like Lou Dobbs from CNN might as well enter the race as an independent along with Nader. I get tired of commentators not being fair. Has Hillary received unfair coverage during this election? Absolutely!! Why don’t you go back and report on what she has done? Be specific. Then do Obama.
No comparison. Go Hillary.

PEOPLE, WE CAN NOT LET OBAMA WIN THIS ELECTION, WE HAVE TO VOTE HIM OUT. I HATE TOO SEE WHERE HE WOULD TAKE THE USA. THE MEDIA HAS ALREADY MADE HIM PRESIDENT IN THEIR MINES. THE MEDIA IS AS FAR LEFT AS THEY CAN BE. THEY WON’T SAY A BAD WORD ABOUT THE MAN. BUT JOHN AND HILLARY THEY WILL JUMP ALL OVER THEM,. THE MEDIA HAS NEVER BEEN FAIR WITH THE GOP. IT’S ALWAYS THE FAR LEFT WITH THEM.

For a news reporter to ask the question without more was silly! For me the “experience” is not as much an issue as qualifications. Let me explain. We all learn and adapt our lives based upon several factors. Some learn quicker than others; while some never learn at all.

Having experience does not equate to being able to do. We have numerous examples of this thrown in our faces every day.
