Nodtveidt - You're right about the fact that we should not have gone into Iraq. But my hindsight has always been 20/20. During that time, Saddam seemed to be hiding something. Why else would you kick weapons inspectors out of your country. We were also relying on intel from our allies besides just our own intell. Saddam could have avoided this if his ego would have let him. I think McCain should promise them that we are there to help them until their country is secure. However, they need to promise us that they'll get a tighter grip on this thing and make the same sacrifices that we are for their country. They need to shift to the frontlines, and we'll have their back. If they can pull together and gain support for their freedom, maybe joining the good guys and living free will seem like a better choice than to be a suicide bomber to those who are not active.

I'm familiar with that church's policies...I read them myself awhile back. I know Farrakhan didn't say that. But everyone knows that Farrakhan's a completely classless bigot.

I think the US should have just left Iraq alone altogether. There was absolutely no reason for the invasion. And now there's a huge multinational mess in its wake. The country was doing just fine before the US stuck its nose in where it wasn't wanted. But alas, the damage is done, and now it's the people of Iraq who are suffering the consequences. What does McCain plan to do for them? Should he promise them anything?

On second thought, you're probably right about an Obama/Clinton alliance. Although I do have to say that this back-and-forth banter between the two has been more comedy than I've seen in years. The longer this tirade continues, the more power the Republicans can garner in the background.

Nodtveidt, I copied the value system off of the TrinityUnited Church of Christ website. This is not what Farrakhan said, it's what Rev. Wright said. I think it draws a great deal of comparison to Farrakhan's ideology. It seems that they are about helping and providing for black people only, not just any person. I have no problem with anybody being proud of their heritage or where they come from. I am white and proud. I shouldn't be ashamed of it either. I don't believe I'm a racist because I don't feel that we are superior. I know very talented people of different color. When I here someone attack my race though, I do get upset. Farrakhan says that "whites are almost human that haven't fully evolved yet". KKK embarrasses the white southerners such as myself.

I have to strongly disagree with you about an Obama/Clinton ticket. That would be great news for me, but not the Democrats. The political attacks would be too easy. All the Republicans would have to do is contract youtube to show these two shooting each other down from actual footage. McCain can actually praise them all day long and let their past come back to haunt them. I've been saying all along that they are destroying each other. Kerry did it to Edwards just a little, and how many times did they bring up the fact that Kerry said "Edwards is not experianced enough to run this country". Even if they don't run together, an endorsement by the other would look shameful.

I don't think McCain needs a "rapid" evacuation plan. That sounds more like retreat. If we left too quickly, we know what would happen over there. Our reputation then would be that we converted a country from being run by a tyrrant, to being run by the strongest faction with many more deaths and less stability than we have seen so far. Iraq has to be stabilized and Iraqi people have to be in control of theor own country before we leave.

Paul, you're probably the only person on this blog that makes any sense. In fact, out of all the political blogs I've read over the years, only a handful of people have ever had a clue. But there are a couple of details you might have missed.

Don't forget that Obama was very quick to distance himself from his preacher on political matters. This could easily be used by the media spinster machine to render that "value system" meaningless...in fact, I think it already was. Whether this has weight to it or not is up to the individual and his or her perception.

Changing the word from "black" to "white" does absolutely nothing for me personally. I used to tell people that I was proud to be white. Then I laughed at the clowns who called me racist...sure, it's fine for blacks to say it but not whites? Don't we have plenty of reasons to be proud of our own heritage? Of course we do! Yet it's racist when we do so. BS. Double standards abound here, as they do all over the rest of US society. But then my tune changed...I realized that being proud of your skin color is the most ridiculous thing ever. How can you be proud of a trait you have absolutely no control over? "Yeah, I'm so proud because my skin tone is HTML color code #99EE44." It's a crock, but a crock bought into by the majority of Americans...especially ones who are "minorities" WHICH IS ANOTHER CROCK WORD. EVERYONE is a minority; everyone is unique. Minorities do not exist...until someone uses the word for political motives.

As for the McCain statement of a 100 year occupation fo Iraq...of course it was taken out of context. That's how the media machine works, and that's how the opposing loyalists work too. However, McCain has little chance of ending this with any sense of dignity. The US has long since soiled its reputation worldwide with this war, and unless he has a rapid evacuation plan (which he doesn't), this bad reputation will persist. And I personally could care less about his military history...I come from a military family and quite frankly, the US military is one of the most abused militaries in the world, and it's by its own government (by abused I mean often being sent on missions that are contrary to the public image that is painted, and often forced to break the law). People have been buying up the "fighting for freedom" crap for decades...it's a great sell but means nothing in reality. Think back to every war the US has fought in over the last century...how many of them were fought in self defense? (People, do your WW2 studies if you think this was fought in self defense.) McCain unfortunately didn't serve his country, he served his government, who served themselves rather than the people. A country is made up of its people, not its government. I feel sympathy for him in this aspect, but that doesn't make me want to vote for him. He probably would be the strongest commander-in-chief out of everyone who's vying for the title though...even the Clinton loyalists can't refute this with a straight face.

Also, don't forget that the majority of people surveyed around the world support Obama. Will they still like him if he was elected? Who knows. Will they like McCain? Probably not. Would they like Clinton? Probably not. So, if Obama was to be elected (low chance really), he would have worldwide support for...maybe a week. When he collapses on his lofty campaign promises, he'll be just another stick-in-the-sand President with no legitimate agenda. McCain would probably be the most global president of the three, with Clinton being #2.

If the Democrats really wanted to win, they would combine their efforts...Obama and Clinton would make excellent running mates to challenge McCain. Of course, McCain's running mate will end up being the dealbreaker...if Huckabee is selected, McCain has no chance. No one except a small percentage of bigots want that jerk back in the mix, and as several recent presidencies have demonstrated, the vice president holds more power than the public is truly aware of. McCain is wise to not announce his running mate yet...that gives the Dems less ammunition to use against him, and more to use against each other. A perfect political plan...the Republicans have long since been considered the makers of war, whether it be via military or via politics. Although November is still a long way away, they might pull it off yet again for the simple reason that the Dems STILL can't get it together.

You know what though? When it comes down to it, I think I'd rather write-in my choice for president than vote for any of these sideshow comedians. My choice for president? Henry Rollins.

Nodtveidt, this to me is not just an endorsement from a racist pig. The ideology of his church, Trinity United Church of Christ, and Farrakhan, have one thing in common. Black first, everybody else last. Here is Obamas Church's "value system" written by his preacher, Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright.
1. Commitment to God
2. Commitment to the Black Community
3. Commitment to the Black Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System.

This is their value system? No wonder Farrakhan sees something in Obama. Read this again, and change the words black to white, and tell me this doesn't sound racist. Farrakhan was also named Trinity's Man of the Year in 2007 by Rev. Wright. I cannot vote for a man that embraces this system. He is not the lesser of two evils.

As far as Iraq goes, I believe McCain can end this with dignity. He was against Bush's stradegy for a long time, and put his career on the line by pushing for the surge. We may have to stay there for awhile, but not to occupy, like we're doing in North Korea and Japan. People took the 100 years way out of context.

I will stand behind a man who has fought and served for our country before I will stand behind a man who only stands up for black America.

When I here Obama speak, he reminds me of those guys on TV that will sell you a system that will make you a millionaire in just a few weeks. Big house, flashy cars. Then people buy into it, lose money, but they can't get a refund. If Obama wins the Whitehouse, just remember, no refunds.

For Little Nodtveidt. Please. I didn't say little Obama was evil ... don't be so harsh. I said he did not know what he was talking about relative to a particular subject and comment he made. Other more competent people who investigated the facts related to the comment he made found out that his statement was not accurate. Conclusion, he is making statements that are not true or accurate. It's that simple. I said nothing about evil ... he simply doesn't know what he is talking about. His people that fed him information that provided the basis for his statement certainly didn't know what they were talking about ... it's really that simple.

You said I didn't provide a reference, so I gave you one.

For Little Nodtveidt. Please. I didn’t say little Obama was evil … don’t be so harsh. I said he did not know what he was talking about relative to a particular subject and comment he made. Other more competent people who investigated the facts related to the comment he made found out that his statement was not accurate. Conclusion, he is making statements that are not true or accurate. It’s that simple. I said nothing about evil … he simply doesn’t know what he is talking about. His people that fed him information that provided the basis for his statement certainly didn’t know what they were talking about … it’s really that simple.
