Obama Pays Tribute to Fallen Officer
At the beginning of his rally in Corpus Christi, Texas, Senator Barack Obama recognized the Dallas police officer who died in the line of duty while providing escort service for Senator Hillary Clinton’s motorcade this morning.
Obama explained to the crowd that he, Clinton, and Senator John McCain all get help from local law enforcement to set up motorcades and ease traffic while campaigning. “One of the members of Senator Clinton’s detail got into an accident and passed away. He actually helped me when we were in Dallas,” Obama said, referring to a rally he held in Dallas just two days ago, where he relied on the Dallas Police Department for help getting to and from the airport.
“His name was Victor Lozada-Tirado. And so if everybody will just observe a brief moment of silence for him and his family, let ‘em know that our thoughts and prayers are with them,” he said. The thousands gathered in the Corpus Christi arena were still for about 10 seconds.
“It’s a reminder of the outstanding work that law enforcement does for us each and every day and so I hope that everybody can give a big round of applause for our law enforcement officers,” Obama said, before he began his stump speech.

This is really very sad news. Obama ‘08
Obama has class.
I pray for the family of the officer.
Republicans for Obama ‘08!
I was at the Obama rally in Corpus Christi and you could have heard a pin drop when Sen. Obama asked us for a moment of silence to pray for the fallen officer. He reminded us all just who keeps us safe everyday and asked us to keep the officer in our hearts and his family in our prayers. It was a sobering start to his rally. A very tragic accident.
I stood in the longest line I’ve ever seen in this here with lifelong republicans in front of me and a senior high class in back standing behind us for the four hour wait to get in. I can’t believe so many people are becoming so involved in voting. Whatever your political leaning, having so many of our youth and others involved for the first time learning about what makes this country great is a good thing for our government.
I certainly applaud Hillery on her comments concerning the officer who lost his life in the
motorcade escort. I would also like to say that the comments made by DAVE is uncalled for.
Need we remind him that Hillery was not the only one that this officer was trying to protect. If
Im not mistaken, all three Presidential candidates use these services.
Dave should be man enough to apologize to Hillery for those comments. Comments such
as this should not be made by anyone.
May God bless the officers family and give them peace.
Hillery, you go girl ! The best of luck to you.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
obama is a disgrace to america…
he can take his appeasement politics to kenya togehter with his xerox
Aisha
show some respect, did you not notice the head-line on this blog, why don’t you take your foul mouth back to hillary’s sad state of affairs on her site. show some respect.
I find Hillary to be a most compassionate, loving, caring individual!!!!I understand her not being able to continue a rally….how could we rally and laugh and cheer at a time of immediate saddness, a time of tremendous loss for many. The officer was a a part of this campaign as well; someone who serves and protects all including the candidates….Obama, the snake that he is gave 10 seconds of silence….big deal–his compassion,if any lies with himself and his church!!!! He is egotistical, and very self-centered–concerning his time during the rally he only gave 10 seconds—-all the rest was for him–not hsi fallen friend, a comrade, if you will. Obama only sucked in the ignorant ones who think they have a friend in him…..he’s no friend, but an enemy to those who are weak and needy…Beware!!!! he is a snake.

TEXAS REPUBLICANS, VOTE FOR HILLARY TO KEEP THE DEMOCRATS DIVIDED!
Michelle Obama’s America — And Mine
By Michelle Malkin
February 20, 2008
Like Michelle Obama, I am a “woman of color.” Like Michelle Obama, I am a working mother of two young children. Like Michelle Obama, I am a member of the 13th generation of Americans born since the founding of our great nation.
Unlike Michelle Obama, I can’t keep track of the number of times I’ve been proud — really proud — of my country since I was born and privileged to live in it.
At a speech in Milwaukee this week on behalf of her husband’s Democratic presidential campaign, Mrs. Obama remarked, “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”
Mrs. Obama’s statement was met with warm applause from other Barack supporters who have apparently also been devoid of pride in their country for their adult lifetimes. Or maybe it was just a Pavlovian response to the word “change.” What a sad, empty, narcissistic, ungrateful, unthinking lot.
I’m just seven years younger than Mrs. Obama. We’ve grown up and lived in the same era. And yet, her self-absorbed attitude is completely foreign to me. What planet is she living on? Since when was now the only time the American people have ever been “hungry for change”? Michelle, ma belle, Barack is not the center of the universe. Newsflash: The Obamas did not invent “change” any more than Hillary invented “leadership” or John McCain invented “straight talk.”
We were both adults when the Berlin Wall fell, Michelle. That was earth-shattering change.
We’ve lived through two decades’ worth of peaceful, if contentious election cycles under the rule of law, which have brought about “change” and upheaval, both good and bad.
We were adults through several launches of the space shuttle, in case you were snoozing. And as adults, we’ve witnessed and benefited from dizzyingly rapid advances in technology, communications, science and medicine pioneered by American entrepreneurs who yearned to change the world and succeeded. You want “change”? Go ask the patients whose lives have been improved and extended by American pharmaceutical companies that have flourished under the best economic system in the world.
If American ingenuity, a robust constitutional republic and the fall of communism don’t do it for you, hon, then how about American heroism and sacrifice?
How about every Memorial Day? Every Veterans Day? Every Independence Day? Every Medal of Honor ceremony? Has she never attended a welcome home ceremony for the troops?
For me, there’s the thrill of the Blue Angels roaring over cloudless skies. And the somber awe felt amid the hallowed waters that surround the sunken U.S.S. Arizona at the Pearl Harbor memorial.
Every naturalization ceremony I’ve attended, where hundreds of new Americans raised their hands to swear an oath of allegiance to this land of liberty, has been a moment of pride for me. So have the awesome displays of American compassion at home and around the world. When millions of Americans rallied to help victims of the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia — including members of the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group that sped from Hong Kong to assist survivors — my heart filled with pride. It did again when the citizens of Houston opened their arms to Hurricane Katrina victims and folks across the country rushed to their churches, and Salvation Army and Red Cross offices to volunteer.
I think the “Words” issue is very important because Obama is running his campaign on his words, not on the issues.
Obama’s campaign manager David Axelrod is the same one Deval used when he ran for Governor. So this isn’t a case of two friends sharing some lines. It’s a case of the campaign manager using the same manufactured speech for different clients.
If all Obama has are words, and the words aren’t even his own, then what does he have?
And what does it say about our culture when we don’t value hard work, ideas or even originality? We’re getting to the point where we fall for anything that isn’t real.
Jerry Chui,
It is a known fact and a sad one that Hillary’s base support is largely people with only high school degree and income of less than $50,000 a year. The implication is that they are the ones more susceptible to be fooled and cast votes based on insignificant and trivial things. Your comment typifies this sad point. Like a lot of obama supporters, I hold a ph.d and find it humorous to hear people like you insinuate that some how we are delusional in supporting him.
it is very apparent that you are very uninformed, Obama has a law degree from Harvard, he was president of Harvard law review and graduated in the top 1% of his class. Further more Obama has written 2 bestsellers by himself; Hillary has books about her written by others! Also Obama has clearly stated that he writes a significant portion of his speeches, can the same be said of Hillary?
The hypocrisy in Hillary’s argument is ridiculous. In her closing statement from the debate she plagiarized her husband’s line and John Edward’s line. I suppose since her candidacy is not based on words it’s ok for her to plagiarize?
The reality you and the rest of Hillary Clinton’s supporters need to face is that Obama has ran a far better campaign and he has done it in a positive and inspirational fashion that has gotten a lot of young and old people involved.
The U.S. constitution did not put a minimum level of experience required to be president so why has that suddenly become the most important issue? If that is the most important requirement for a U.S. president then John McCain beats both Hillary and Obama.
Obama has proven to have the better judgment, leadership and communication skills, and the right attitude to work with republicans. He opposed the iraq war from the beginning, and Hillary did not. He has the correct stance on immigration reform including addressing the driver’s license issue which Hillary is shying from addressing because its unpopular. Obama has 11 years of elected official experience to Hillary’s 6, however Hillary wants to count her years as first lady in Arkansa and the white house as part of her work experience. She 1994 she was put in charge of her husband’s universal healthcare bill and it was a massive failure but she somehow thinks it will suddenly pass when she is the president? She has mismanaged her campaign but wants us to trust her with our country. She is the establishment and wants us to believe somehow that she is also a change agent?
To Hillary supporters, it seems you all are the ones that are delusional!
Obama is gonna be our president. We will have a better future under his leadership.
Aisha, Who is Obama appeasing? He’s has principled and detailed stands on health care and ethics reform. He stands up to the health care industry and lobbyists both Hillary Clinton and John McCain indulge and protect.
IM FROM ARKANSAS, AND WE KNOW HILLARY SHOULD BE IN PRISON FOR MANY CRIMES, THAT JANET RENO WOULDNT PROSECUTE. IF SHE WAS IN PRISON WHERE SHE BELONGS, THIS COP WOULD BE ALIVE, AND IF YOU THINK SHE CARES YOU RE CRAZY, THIS IS THE DEVIL ON EARTH.
AISHA======I WOULDNT PEE ON HILLARY S FACE IF IT WAS ON FIRE, MUCH LESS APOLIGIZE=HAVE YOU RESEARCHED HER PAST IF SO HIDE YOUR FACE
Obama is winning because No one supporting him cares about his awful senate record or where he stands on any issue and that FACT he has no original thoughts or solutions for our very troubled country. WE ARE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE AMERICA, voting for a man based soley on his skin color. You better hope there are enough blacks to do the job, Obama has shown he is a TALKER, not a worker! RESEARCH PLEASE! OBAMA SIDED WITH BUSH EVERYTIME! YOUR GETTING A REPUBLICAN CLAIMING TO BE DEMOCRAT.
***OBAMA IS THE ANTI CHRIST***
Obama NEEDS to answer questions about his dealings with one of his largest contributors, Exelon, a big nuclear power company that he cut deals behind closed doors to protect them from full disclosure in the nuclear industry. In addition, Obamas TRUE, record that he and the media want to hide shows he supports the war!!!!voted twice against bringing America’s troops back home. He voted for war appropriations giving our money to Chaney and Halliburton/Blackwater. His latest bit of posturing S 433 allows the Bush Administration to suspend any troop withdrawal!!!!if not suspended, still keeps the troops in Iraq for a long time to come. Record shows Obama when faced with tough choices ALWAYS gave in to pressure from the Bush administration and corporate lobbyists. Obama voted for Bush’s energy bill, sending more than $13 billion in subsidies and tax breaks to oil, coal, and nuclear companies. Obama voted with Republicans to allow credit card companies to raise interest rates way over 30 percent, INCREASING STUDENT LOANS RATES AND FEES increasing hardship for families. Obama voted for one of Bush’s top priorities - expanding Nafta to South America - even as President Bush obstructed all the top Democratic priorities. Obama voted with Bush to make it harder for ordinary people to hold big corporations accountable when they do things like sell toxic toys, poisonous pet food, human food or just plain rip you off. ( See why China likes Obama) Obama also the Senate’s biggest Democratic advocate of subsidies for liquid coal, even though liquid coal produces twice the global warming pollution of the crude oil it’s meant to replace and voted for increased subsidies, albeit with conditions.Obama, a Hamiltonian believer in free trade and supporters of globalization has lent his support to the “Hamilton Project formed by corporate-neoliberal Citigroup chair Robert Rubin and other ‘Wall Street Democrats’ to counter populist rebellion against corporate tendencies within the Democratic Party. Obama provided assistance to pro-war candidates (such as Joe Lieberman). Obama voted for “business-friendly ‘tort reform’ bill that rolls back working peoples’ ability to obtain reasonable redress and compensation…from corporations!!! Obama considers single payer universal health care too socialist and has stated that he prefers voluntary solutions. **He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive. Abortion opponents see Obama’s vote on medical care for aborted fetuses as a refusal to protect the helpless. Some have even accused him of supporting infanticide. He supported allowing retired police officers to carry concealed weapons, but opposed allowing people to use banned handguns to defend against intruders in their homes. And the list of sensitive topics goes on. With only a slim, two-year record in the U.S. Senate, Obama doesn’t have many controversial congressional votes which political opponents can frame into attack ads. But his eight years as an Illinois state senator are sprinkled with potentially explosive land mines, such as his abortion and gun control votes. recent land purchase from a political supporter who is facing charges in an unrelated kickback scheme involving investment firms seeking state business. Obama has no substance. He has provided no solutions.
On a lighter note, there’s a wonderful new Obama meme at http://obamawill.com Very funny!
I’m from Canada and I can’t believe the childish comments offered forth in this column and others, most of the so called facts presented as so called evidence of ability of either candidate is astoundingly stupid and inaccurate. I happened to be in Seattle on business when Obama was speaking at his rally, and other than his oratory which by the way was astounding and captivating, the main point was who was there and how many there were, you’d think you were attending a Seahawks game, the enthusiasm and energy from the crowd was electrifying.
Talking with supporters at the rally was insightful and educational, and desire for change in the political climate in Washington was at the forefront, the old saying “don’t sell the steak, sell the sizzle” applies here as well, every attendee I talked to said they understood that Obama got them interested by motivating them to get involved but they also understood that the things that need to be changed are not going to be easy and are going to take time, and will need involvement from all citizens.
And every one of them had no doubt whatsoever that this man had the ability to do things he says he will do.
The United States of America can be extremely proud to have a man of this character, intensity, ability, and most importantly the desire to change things for the better for all Americans.
There are many countries in the world who stand on there heads and spit nickles to have a leader like him, including mine.
Uhm, it says: “FOX News encourages you to participate in this discussion; however, comments that include unlawful, threatening, libelous, or obscene content will not be allowed. For this reason, please note that all comments are moderated and therefore may not appear immediately after submission.”
Evidently comments that are just plain whack are not moderated and yet are posted immediately.
Go figure.
It is time for Christians to reject Limbaugh, Hannity and Coulter……………………….
“Let me just say, I like Barack Obama. I am a sold out believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, He is my Lord and Savior as many of my posts would testify to. I only qualify that last statement because there are many in the Christian community who would believe I could not be a Christian and like Obama, utter nonsense” Read the rest of this articel at…….

Ken:
I agree with you. This story is about an officer in a motorcade who unfortunately crashed his motorcycle and died, and the candidates honoring him. And people use this space to snipe at each other or take cheap shots at the candidates. Does anyone think the candidates aren’t genuinely sorry this cop died? Come on, people!
Obama will do anything to get the LATIN voters to vote for him. Pointing out the dead of person Victor Lozada-Tirado, who died and who was of latin heritage was a smart move.
I personally want a woman president for a change. I want no people of color to rule our country. I say this because since I arrived into the USA, I did not know anything about people of color or other races competing in all in America they way they do. How hard have people of color made my life whenever a people of color was in charge of hiring me or training me on the job or taking a job application for which I had high qualifications as a second language speaker which the possition required, an Afro American glotton got hired to take that place instead. During the testing, sessions, I received nothing but slander, libel, harship harrassment and discrimination of the first class by African americans taking in the applications. Letting me wait there the entired day while other people of color who where loud interrupting test takers, got in before.
I think based on my personal experiences of 25 years or more living here, that a man and his family of color will not make a good president and will probably favor his OWN people out the most and let others of light complection die. America do not vote for people of color they are in to help themselves. American people of color keep lots of hatred inside since they think they were the only ones who were slaves in this world. Many other rases have been enslaved and tortured. I myself was sold to two older americans at age 12 for 1000.00 dollars to work as their servant not to be adopted. That name change still hunts me today. Still because of the light color complection and name I am usually steriotyped and abused mostly by ignorant people of color in this country life is very tough for like complected “female” who had no assets or the kindness of a citizen who really knew the value of oppression slavery and hardship.
Look what happened to Martin Luther King hospital in Los Angeles. A beautiful young latin woman was let to die of a ruptured intestine in the most painful horrendous death just because she was Hispanic had green eyes and looked white. Had she been a people of color, she would have been saved. Authorities, closed the emergency site only but hospital still standing despite many violations. I was there myself in one ocation asking for a job and as a patient. One the poorest among the poor. I was badly treated and let to wait a entire day while people of color who came in before me were tended to first.
WE do not want a ” people of color to be president because people of color have a lot of resentment and are spoiled. America gives people of color all opportunities because in reality America fears people of color. If people of color are unemployed, they become irate revolt and do drugs and sell drugs, multiply and attack the rest of us who want the same oportunities in life.
People of color, need to learn to be civilized love everyone and share with everyone without feeling superior or like the entire white race is the cause of their sking color and nappy hair they do not like themselves. America if a person does not like themselves like most black people do not like themselves they would not like or respect anyone in the planet.
When People of color learn to love themselves as they are created dark hair and all. Then you can love another human being. Learn too that we are all ONE people one nation, before people of color can rule a country through presidency.
If Obama wins the presidentcy, I hope he is not like the many people of color that for many years proved to be cruel selfish and self centered before my eyes as an immigrant. I hope Obama gives opportunity to all immigrants not just those coming from African countries but those of white complection and that we all have same rights regardless of color race nationality and socio economic status. So helps us God.
Obaman is typical of pols who play on the news of the moment or a family’s griefto make political hay. If he had any shame it would have let it go.
He should give real support to the Border Patrol instead of sham “respect” for a cop who was probably making a tidy off-duty sum riding escort.
I am democrat but will vote for John McCain if Obama is nominated as Democratic party Candidate
