Huckabee to Give 2nd Paid Speech in a Week

Despite continuing to battle rival John McCain in his up hill battle for the Republican nomination, Mike Huckabee will be dropping off the campaign trail today to give his second paid speech in a week, Fox News has learned.

The former Arkansas governor will be speaking to the annual retreat for the Colorado-based group, Leadership Program of the Rockies, event organizers tell Fox.  Leadership staffers, nor the campaign would reveal the amount he will be paid for the speech. He will also be meeting behind closed doors with Focus on the Family’s Dr. James Dobson, who recently endorsed Huckabee. It will be an informal meeting at the organization’s headquarters in Colorado Springs, according to Dobson aides.

Last weekend, Huckabee surprised many by giving a speech, for an undisclosed fee, to a youth leadership awards banquet in the Cayman Islands. The speech was not political, but motivational and emphasized  overcoming insurmountable odds to reach success.

Huckabee has repeatedly said that he needs to honor his speaking engagements not only because they were booked months ahead of time, but because its his primary method of income. He has defended these arrangements by pointing to his competitors still in the race, most of whom are members of the  U.S. Senate.

“The taxpayers aren’t paying a dime for me to campaign and I don’t take anything from my campaign so I have to make a living,” he said last week before heading to the Cayman Islands. “I do that through my writing and my speaking. … There will be a few more times when I’ve got to go out and make sure I can make my mortgage payments just like everybody else has to do. I am not independently wealthy.”

I like Mike! One of the greatest tragedies in US presidential campaign history is not more Americans recognizing Mike Huckabee as a leader this country needs….at least on the Republican side.

This is what I hear being screamed from the Huckabee campaign.
“I have no shot at winning, but I won’t get out. I never had a shot at winning but I have split the party so a liberal is going to win. But hey, I got national attention so my career of speaking is now enhanced. Before I used to steal money from campaign finance and I was told that was unethical and I was fined for it, now I will just get free media time to make money. Now that I am making money, I will stay in for my supporters, but I won’t actually campaign, I will just further my career. Oh yeah, and I am a minister so vote for me bacuase I come from you.”
Why again is it that this man actually got anyone to follow him?

Why hasn’t a McCain/ huckabee debate been scheduled yet? It would be good for the party. Also ,why have you written Huckabee off? The race is not yet over.

Taxation without representation…

If this were the Alamo and folks were fighting for our freedom would we stand and fight?
If this were WWII and we knew that defeating the enemy was critical for the good of the world and our own national security would we lay down our lives? We would and we did.
If this were the American Revolution and we were fighting for our liberty (against taxation without representation) would we fight? We did and we need to again.

Today, a key enemy comes from within. Remember that whole taxation without representation argument from the 1700s? Our tax system creates BIG winners and BIG losers. Does anyone reading this feel that their tax interests are being represented against high-paid special interest lobbyists? Our monetary system (you know, inflation) also breaks the back of the middle class (by design). The game is tilted to the advantage of BIG business and BIG government and keeps small business and “We the People” on a treadmill that flows power and wealth up the ladder.

The Fair Tax levels the playing field and takes away the tax advantages for Washington/Wall Street economic and political elite vs. the middle class and for small business vs. BIG business. In other words, it is tax neutral for everyone and every entity which promotes free market and ability for all to compete and prosper.

Now, there are two candidates who are for free market and a level playing field. Can you guess who they are? Yep, they are the ones that have been dismissed and marginalized throughout this primary season. Care to guess why they are dismissed and marginalized? Could it be that a lot of (tax) advantaged folks and Big Businesses with tremendous influence are VERY interested in keeping the game going? Anyone else feel that these tax-code winners who have BIG money to pay lobbyists also have tremendous influence in helping their candidates win elections in order to ensure that they protect their advantages? How might they do this? Well, if our news sources are directed to keep positive spin for favorable candidates and negative spin (or just marginalize/dismiss) unfavorable candidates would that ensure that their advantages are protected? Want more taxation without representation? Elect the media darlings.

Folks, Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul are the only two candidates who are not beholden to “the game”. I favor Huckabee because he pushes the Fair Tax and peace through strength. I urge our country to wake up and fight for our freedom and the freedom of our children. Please vote Mike Huckabee.

GIVE THE MAN A BREAK! Do you go to work every day? Does the media question your right to do so? How is Huckabee supposed to pay his bills if he’s campaigning every day? He DOES NOT get a salary from the campaign, so someone please tell me how he’s supposed to make a living. Ridiculous.

Hey ike,

Seems you’re a Romney supporter… nobody forced your candidate to be a quitter. Romney made his decision to get out… Huckabee had/has every much as right to be in the race as any other candidate. He has defied the odds and the race is not over! I recall Mitt Romney recalling how that he was an unknown and nobody thought he’d make it as far as he had. So to say that Mike Huckabee should have or should now drop out is to disenfranchise those of in this country (as myself in Indiana - which will be a red state in November) from having a say in whom our nominee should be. Stop licking your wounds and think about what is best for this country.

If the republican party goes liberal… we’ll never get back to the right save a revolution. We cannot afford to put a man in office who consistently crosses party lines… the crossing of the aisle is always to the left, hardly to the right.. and once you give something to the left they feel entitled to it always and you’ll never gain ground back.

The “red” states that Huckabee has lost have been by such a narrow margin, that when this goes to the convention, real conservatives will have a choice to correct the crazy way this party has chosen their presumptive nominee.

Why he has gotten anyone to follow him? We believe as he does, and there are more of us than you think… but that doesn’t make the headlines because the media wants everyone to be convinced that those who are on Jerry Springer and the like are the majority of America. Real America still has common sense and decency and we’re proud to have a candidate who represents us!

ike,
Go to Mike Huckabee’s website and look at his immigration policy, tax policy and education policy. Then you will know why Huckabee still has supporters.

Comment by Dan Campbell

Huckabee has always had a shot at winning.

If you remember he was the Nation front runner for a long time before Romney’s dis-honest campaign paid millions in trying to stop Huckabee.

Romney lost and Huckabee won. It put Huckabee behind but Huckabee is and has always been the best choice to lead our Nation!!!

I will only vote Huckabee!!!!!

The same old lines from the same old people. Get a new argument.

I have never said that Huckabee MUST get out. I am saying it is absolutely stupid for him to stay in. If he wants to be stupid, he has that right. I have never told people not to follow him, I have just said it was stupid.
If you really want to put Romney into this message board, as of today, Huckabee STILL has less delegates. And that is after Romney released them. As for “my candidate being a quitter”, come on, you can name call better than that. You have been doing it the entire campaign with just about as much evidence. Had Romney stayed in, it would have gone to convention. That really isn’t what the RNC wants. There is of course people like you who want your voice heard. We heard. We see how much intelligence it has, and we reject if for being insufficient.
What does “there are more of us than you think” really mean. More people than what? Huckabee has the 3rd most support and it has come from mainly one group. No one questioned the size of that group. I think you might be mistaken. There are a whole lot less that Huckabee thinks. The whole majoring in miracles not math is about as insane as you can get. There isn’t enough on anyone to get Huckabee 1191 delegates. Please don’t tell me you believe that Huckabee would win a brokered convention. That is even more stupid that believing him in the first place. He lost. Get over it. That doesn’t explain why he is in the race. He can’t win, he isn’t campaigning, yet he is still there. I believe, because all of the evidence points that way, is that Huckabee is staying in so he can further his speaking career. It is working for him. I believe those who voted for him were duped. And it was way to easy. I have been to his website. It doesn’t really say much. It has great rhetoric, and I will’s, but never any How’s. Don’t get me started on the stupidity of the fair tax. My favorite part of Huckabee’s website is the “Truth Squad”.
He defends his ethics violations by say that Bill Clinton was picking on him, and that “MOST”, not all, of his ethics violations were frivolous cases.
I think Huckabee has done really well for himself in the campaign. I think he screwed the US over by his actions. I don’t think there are less of you than you give me credit for. I believe the world is full of really stupid people. It is obvious by the way the world is going. You are just proving my point.
Thank you very much. Please respond to give me more cannon fodder.

Mike Huckabee has won something far more important than a presidential race. He has won the respect and admirtion of millions of Americans and given us a political leader that we can be proud of, enthuiastic for, and rally behind. Too bad the establishment has chosen to turn their backs on the greatest politician of the century. We have not seen the last of Mike. If he does not make it this time (I have not given up on him for 2008) he will be back in 2012, with more money, a stronger organization, a HUGE grassroots support team, and alot of campaign knowledge he picked up this year. We will be saying President Huckabee, it may just take us 4 years to get there.
America love Mike!!!! The GOP had better realize this and jump behind him……

Comment by Mike in NV

I love how whenever someone bashes Huckabee that automatically makes that person a Romney supporter and all the Huckabee supporters who dislike Romney then chime in and attack Romney. Ike never said who he supports. I’m not saying he supports Romney or opposes him. Simply, that he never specified anything other than his dislike for Huckabee. Stop making assumptions about who he supported.

Secondly, those who bash Romney still, get over your hatred of Romney. He is out of the race. You Huckabeeites that seem to feel like you have to attack him can stop trying to derail him. He’s darned if he does and darned if he doesn’t in your guy’s eyes. If you still insist upon bashing him than do it in private so I don’t have to hear your whining.

Thirdly, Romney did not lose. He could have easily gone on in the campaign. He had the funding, the organization, the support from conservatives (look at what happened at CPAC) and conservative talk radio and a lot more. He could have caused the convention to be brokered quite easily but chose not to because he felt it was best for the country that he drop out. It seems to me like those who make the argument that Huckabee is better because he stayed in longer are delusional. If that logic were true then that would also make Ron Paul (with what like 12 delegates) and Mike Gravel on the democrat side (with 0 delegates) stronger candidates than those who have dropped out. Huckabee is a weak candidate; his main appeal is to evangelicals and those who are anti-mormon. He can’t win any state outside of those with a heavy evangelical base. He would have been smeared by either Obama or Clinton in the general even if he had managed to get the nomination.

With all this said I feel like I could have voted for Mike Huckabee had he not decided to use Romney’s religion as a crutch and had he not pandered to McCain all throughout the race. However, that wasn’t for Huckabee. It was all downhill after my first impression of him. Every time I think that Huckabee has reached rock bottom he somehow manages to find a shovel. I seriously hope that this is the last I hear of him.

Mike Huckabee is a man of integrity. Against the onslaught of negative press, he has maintained dignity, earnestness of purpose and a deep committment to those of us who have not truly been represented in the Republican Party. We feel we have in Mr. Huckabee, a voice for us folks who have worked hard, had no favors given to us by the politically connected, had our moral values reflected. Why should we be content with the old guard (republican)and old way of doing things. If the Republican party will do little more than pay lip service to us just to get into office and forget how we have helped put them there, then how is that representation “for the people and by the people”? Mike Huckabee has excelled in the polls in the rural counties among those who still value community. Where a “hand up” is more valued than a “hand-out”. People take responsibility for their lives and know that what they values comes through hard work and earned efforts. Mike Huckabee would lift up the lower middle class and at the same time enable all the classes through the tax relief brought by the Fair Tax. His record as Governor has prepared him to deal with many issues and his ability to communicate with people is a high asset in diplomacy would garner better favor for our nation. Give Mike a chance!

I’ve decided to take an informal poll among the good members of this board.

Huck just got invited to be the contestant on “are you smarter than a fifth grader” hosted by Jeff Foxworthy.

Do you think this would good or bad for Hucks chances?

I mean the only news we are getting now is Janet at Hooters, Huck in the Caymans, Hucks pastor friends being investigated by the IRS, Huck getting paid for speeches and Hucks ego.

Sometimes I wonder if I am running a presidential campaign or a circus.

Comment by Charles

Being from Arkansas, I can assure you that Mike has always had a hand out and expected someone to put something in it. He kept the Ethics Commission busy, not always because he did something illegal, but because he had no concept of “appearance of conflict”.

Don’t think Huckabee comes even close to being supported by 45% of the Republican Party. Now that McCain has it wrapped up, thousands of McCain Repubs are heading to the Dem primary to pick between Obama and Hillary. Huckabee supporters, those who think the world is 6000 years old and who think every word in the Bible is true (except for when the mistranslated grape juice as wine), are standing fast for a chance to vote for their sinking hero.

Huckabee plans to eliminate the IRS and the “Federal” Reserve - both private organizations which cost very, VERY heavy amounts to the American people. Voting in Mike Huckabee, and accomplishing only these two goals will be the most amazing, powerful action this country can take to get us back onto the road to freedom.

Why Fox had a love affair with Mitt Romney and why they are retaliating against Huckabee.

According to TNSMI/Campaign Media Analysis, presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is spending approximately $85,000 per day on TV commercials, and CNN says the $10.2 million he has spent this year is a record for a presidential campaign up to this point. He has aired over 14,500 commercials in all.

I wonder how much money Fox News lost when Rich Boy Mitt dropped out of the race. On top of that, now we know the true reason why Fox continually ignored Huckabee in the month of January and why they are running a smear campaign against the man.

Challenge:

Fox News, prove me wrong. Audit your coverage of the candidates and report it to your viewers. Tell us how much time you spent covering each candidate. Or lets make it easy…just post your run downs starting one week before IA and one week after IA.

I encourage all of you to challenge Biased Fox News as well. Demand that they audit their coverage. If they are ‘Fair and Balanced’, then they should have no problem explaining the amount of coverage each candidate received.

(They won’t audit their coverage because the supported Mitt Romney in their effort to rob the American people of the political process so they could make loads of Mormon money).

And when all is said and done…Mike’s still campaigning…and people are still voting for him.

And it’s killin ya’ll and his supporters are loving it.

And you know what?

he’ll be back…and back.. and back..

LOL

If I was Mike, I’d run for president until I was as old as McCain. Cause you just know it would be the same story everytime. Except his base will get bigger and bigger. He beat out everybody but McCain. Remove the moderate liberal factor and add name recognition to start, and Mike will beat a Romney or Thompson every time. No coincidence that McCain voters have Mike as second choice and vice versa.

If this goes to 2012.. get ready to say president Huckabee. Especially after the decimation of a liberal Obama presidency.

You know… the hucksters never messed with any of you guys..they just wanted to support their candidate… then you sic your little talk radio hoochies, and anti christian secularites on Mike and pissed them off but good. You people have NO idea how truly miserable america will be if every ‘Jeddediah’ decides to revolt against the system.

Hey Rensen - not sure what planet you live on, but Huck ain’t getting any presidential bid this year or 2012 without the vote of the west. Mormons are the swing vote my friend.

If Huck and Romney go again in 2012, 2016, it will be the same result. Neither will win and we get some liberal jerk like McCain. Hope you enjoy voting for Huck while our country goes done the crapper.

Huck,

Show me or you shut up! Provide some substantial proof instead of spewing your vitriol against anything Christian. Hell, I bet I could make a better case of Mormon ethical challenges than you could against Huckabee and tax-exempt status.

You anti-Christian, Josephh Smith mormons are funny. All you can do is spew your nonsense, but you have no facts to back up your nonsensical allegations.

The truth is that Fox News had a love affair with Romney’s money. Their response was to blackout all of the other candidates and only focus on the loser. They are now pissed, because they lost advertising money. So they had Hannity and the rest of their crew to tell you lemmings that the reason Richboy was defeated so easily is because of Huckabee. Now, they are on a campaign to attack and destroy Humble Huck.

It’s not working Fox News…all you have to show for your efforts are people like this guy…who obviously has the intelligence you are looking for.

(Besides, I think the Romney ‘endorsement’ was moreso a social decision and olive branch to appease the grumpy cult members).

You people should be fumed. A couple of people at Fox News are determining what candidates you are able to learn about…and they aren’t basing this decision on momentum, electability or success…they are basing it on the green back. Which is it…either Huckabee garners the attention of the world because of his immense popularity, or he is a nobody with ZERO chance to win the GOP nomination that Fox News (and yourself) have chosen to relentlessly attack).

Comment by R Demo

Ike,

If a man is running in a race… Nascar, or any other… you’re saying that he should stop because someone else is currently in the lead? This is a presidential race. Each man had the right to enter. This is America, the people are to vote for their president. If Mike Huckabee has people who passionately support him because they believe he is the best man for the job. Why should he drop out? Just because you want someone to make room for your candidate?

Mitt Romney got out because it was not financially viable for him. He had already lost enough of his own money and his wife wouldn’t let him spend anymore, etc.etc.etc. You would say I was wrong to come to those conclusions and that I should take Mitt Romney at his word that he got out for the best interest of the country…

So when Mike Huckabee is in for the best interest of the country you can speculate as to why and it is fact? Please. Your bitterness shows in the name calling, words like stupid, over and over again and the way you malign Huckabee’s name. You’re not seeing that in my posts. I may have been a little harsh in calling Mitt Romney a quitter… sorry if that offends you, but he quit. Was I happy he did? As much as you would be if Mike Huckabee had; but he didn’t and for those of us who preferred Mike Huckabee’s stance and values over Mitt Romney’s we’re thankful that he didn’t drop out.

Romney’s delegates are primarily from states that if tradition holds true will go to the democrat in November. Mike Huckabee has won the most “red” states which will carry the Republican nominee in November. Where Mike Huckabee has lost (in states that will matter in November) it has been by a very small margin. SC became the turning point where because of last minute attacks by Fred Thompson and calls from the Romney campaign that a “vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain” probably brought about the 3% loss. Not to mention that he was not the media darling nor did he have the deep pockets (which I don’t fault Romney for … but it did give him an unfair advantage… thank you McCain/Fiengold).

Fact of the matter is, it is not Mike Huckabee’s fault that Mitt Romney is out of the race, there was no reason for him to do so at anytime before Romney made his decision, to call him a spoiler is retarded, He had a shot at the nomination. Romney did well, as McCain in the more liberal states. Huckabee has carried very well the more conservative states. The arguement that he couldn’t win is empty and remains to be seen, but we are all entitled to our opinions. I wont call you stupid, I’ll just say we disagree and it is a matter of opinion.

I have more respect for Mike Huckabee who is not taking money from his campaign and has to maintain his regular source of income (speaking engagements) while he campaigns opposed to men like Ron Paul and John McCain (as well as those on the Democrat side) who are being paid by our tax dollars a salary for a job they are not doing but for their personal ambitions of what they hope to do. I think we can all agree that in that respect Huckabee is the most honorable.

My original message was not an attack at you, and I am sorry if it appeared that way. Your original message, for which you were entitled to, was however, mean spirited. Mike has plans, not just rhetoric. But most of what we here (as in Obama) is a bunch of promises with no explanation other than more taxes on how to deliver on those promises. The fair tax, if you would really study it as it is presented makes very good sense for those who are interested in fairness (which the income tax is not… not for the people who can’t pass their taxes along to the consumer).

I’ve typed enough. I’m not giving up hope… I don’t want McCain in and I believe that Mike Huckabee would win against either of the Dems in November… until it is impossible I’ll keep the American “can do” attitude and fight with Mike to the end!

Comment by R Demo

BTW… this is the primary… until we name a nominee, why shouldn’t men stay in and allow people to voice their desire by voting their conscience? When there is a winner, we can (unless we are violating our conscience) rally around the winner.

Comment by Dan B

R Demo,

The hate for Huckabee runs deeper than Mormon hate mongering. It has to do with the fact that Huckabee doesn’t spend as much money in advertising as Rich Boy Mitt. Fox News lost a lot of money and their reputation when Mitt dropped out of the race. They have to take it out on someone, so they continually attack Huckabee for making a living or for simply being a baptist preacher. It is no longer about politics folks, it is about making money for the networks. If these candidates aren’t spending money on their media…the candidates get no coverage - no matter how well they perform.

Fox News is robbing us of our civil liberties. Stand up and demand that Fox audit their coverage of candidates this election cycle.

Check out factcheck.org about the fair tax. I don’t think I really want to pay 30% more on all my goods (although it will be better than Obamas 50% income tax hike). I already live in Illinois where Todd Stroger and Rod Blagojevich are taxing our state into the ground. Healthcare is free in this state, and when things are free the privilidge is abused.
Huckabee is no more admirable for staying in the race than Paul or Gravel. They are wasting money. At the very least Romney was saving money when he got out, at most he was trying to repair the Party, either way he’s smarter than Huckabee.

How can you argue with these Mormon people?…Dont you know that they will someday be Gods themselves….My goodness man, when they reach that planet with their many wives somewhere near the Mysterious star Kolab, and become all powerful, and more indignant than they are, they’ll have their new living prophet knocking on your door…..so much for clean cut and impeccable….What is it they are programmed to say….You’ll know them by their fruits, and their fruits will bear their spirit….If they want to argue with what I’ve had to say …then we’ll quote them some things out of their own literature,in reference to that above…..Go to saintsalive.com

Judicial Watch Announces List of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2007

6. Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR): Governor Huckabee enjoyed a meteoric rise in the polls in December 2007, which prompted a more thorough review of his ethics record. According to The Associated Press: “[Huckabee’s] career has also been colored by 14 ethics complaints and a volley of questions about his integrity, ranging from his management of campaign cash to his use of a nonprofit organization to subsidize his income to his destruction of state computer files on his way out of the governor’s office.” And what was Governor Huckabee’s response to these ethics allegations? Rather than cooperating with investigators, Huckabee sued the state ethics commission twice and attempted to shut the ethics process down.

Huckabees Registered For Gifts

By John Lyon

Arkansas News Bureau • jlyon@arkansasnews.com

LITTLE ROCK — “Wedding” registries in the names of Gov. Mike Huckabee and his wife, Janet, have been set up at two department store chains in advance of the Huckabees’ move out of the Governor’s Mansion into a private home.

The term-limited governor leaves office in January, and friends of Janet Huckabee created the registries at Dillard’s and Target stores to help facilitate their transition to private life, Huckabee spokeswoman Alice Stewart said Friday.

The Huckabees purchased a 7,000-square-foot home in North Little Rock this year.

“Some ladies who are friends of Janet’s are giving her a housewarming party,” Stewart said.

Arkansas law prohibits public servants from accepting any gift worth more than $100, unless the gift is conferred “on account of a bona fide personal, professional or business relationship” independent of the recipient’s official status.

“Items costing more than $100 which are given to public servants to show appreciation for their efforts (i.e., to reward them for doing their job) or to reward them for past or future action are prohibited under this rule,” the law states.

Gifts from relatives are not prohibited, nor are wedding or engagement gifts.

The Huckabees married in 1974. They entered into a covenant marriage in February 2005.

So lisa, you are a good little cut and paster, but you do not state who you are for. The dirt is out there on all the candidates and it would be redundant for any one to rebuke the tired old stuff that you are posting which has many times has proven to be politicly motivated charges.

perhaps we should Be talking Keating5, or Whitewater or Tony Rezko deal?

Tell me your candidate so I can smear Him “or Her”

give huckabee a break and just accept it for what it is: the poor guy has to give speeches and stay in the race to build his resume so he can get a nice tv commentator job after the election. is this a great country or what! cause they don’t allow that in those commie countries — god bless america!

If you add up all the people who casted a vote for Mike Huckabee in the states that have already had primaries, there are almost 8 MILLION people who voted for him. 8 MILLION is a lot of people!

Lisa,

Those gift registrys where created by JANET HUCKABEE’S FRIENDS AT TARGET. THEY THOUGHT THAT THEY WOULD GIVE HER A HOUSEWARMING PARTY. WHEN JANETS FRIENDS REALIZED IT WAS AGAINST THE RULES THEY TOOK THE REGISTRY DOWN. NOW I WOULD WORRY MORE ABOUT JOHN MCCAIN AND LOBBIESTS….

THIS IS OLD NEWS, GET WITH THE PROGRAM!

Lisa,

Why don’t you quote all the facts, The ethics charges that were filed against Mike Huckabee were all proven untrue. I do not blame Huckabee for suing because all these charges were filed by one individual who has admitted that he does this for fun. He hates Mike Huckabee and is still filing charges against him and he isnt even Governor anymore. The person who is doing this happens to be a Democrat and he has filed charges against thousands of other people in Arkansas. Do you think it is right that someone can just file baseless unlimited charges against people just to keep them in court? Would you have the money to go to court once a month for charges filed for no reason but the fact the filer is vindictive?

Hey y’all! I told you Mike was staying in the race so he could keep collecting money from campaigning (er preaching) at them thar churches of his ministerial minions!!! That money is for his personal coffers and at $20K a pop no wonder he wasn’t going to get out until the fat lady sings (I hear her singin’) because every week he stays in he makes more and more paid speeches!

Mitt Romney got out to let the party coalesce behind McCain for the good of the country. Huckster Huckabee who garnered the honor (along with Billary and Barak) of being names “One of the Top Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians of 2007 by Judicial Review” just keeps on doing what he knows best–tell those one liners–keep ‘um laughin–keep ‘um crying like you learned at ministerial college and then pass the collection plate!!! Yummy!

By contrast, Romney has earned his money himself and when he did speak (no one “preaches” in Mormon churches) he did that and lead large congregations for free like he served as governor of Mass. and like he promised to do as president–giving his salary to charity.

What a difference. No wonder Washington State still voted 20% for Romney weeks after he had left the race and only 22% for Huckster who had his ministerial minion actively campaigning here in his behalf.

It was almost comical–there was a nasty push poll against Romney going around the days before the caucuses in Washington and when Romney dropped out, suddenly the nasty messages switched to McCain. I wonder who could have been behind both??? I wonder who was behind it in NH.

Jenny,

Your post doesn’t make sense–Huckabee got more votes than Huckabee?????

Janet,

Not true. Huck got nailed on some of the charges.

Those of you who think Romney left the race to save his own money are dilussional. He raised more money than any Republican candidate ever has. He just had to have call days in Boston and, voila, another $5 or 6 M raised. Also, when you have in excess of $480 M who cares about a million or $12? Mitt Romney is so smart and savy on the economy and how it works that if her were broke tomorrow he would be a multimillionaire again by the end of the year!!!

I know it is hard for those of you used to corrupt Hucksters to realize, but this man is principaled and does actually do things for the good of the country and mankind.

This campaign has proven one important thing. The bigots of the religious right will never again hold the REpublican party hostage. It is now clear that the party is more interested in the states in the West and, interestingly, they are very equally divided between Republicans and Democrats with the Mormon vote required for anyone to win. Also, they are more open minded and well educated as a group which also usually means less bigoted. Look at Washington State which was pointed out above. I believe that state has a only a relatively small Mormon population yet Romney got 20% of the vote in the recent primary after dropping out weeks ago while Huckabee only drew 22% while very actively campaigning. This strong vote for Romney was based on support from a very large group of enlightened and unbigoted evangelicals, catholics, jewish people and people with no particular faith group.

Huckabee nor his ilk will ever win the West and Bush wouldn’t have won without the West nor will any other R candidate.

Check out http://www.stopbigots.com to learn why the bigot branch of evangelical Christians will not be the force they have been in future elections and the enlightened evangelicals will join the main stream in looking at all issues and all aspects of candidates and vote accordingly as they have in this past election.

R. Demo,

You seem to prove your stupidity every time you post. Yes, that is name calling. I am glad you caught on. I have still NEVER said that Huckabee should drop. I even posted that last time that I never said that, and for some reason you haven’t figured that out. He can stay in if he wants. It is just really dumb, unless he is trying to boost his career. That SEEMS like what he is doing. If everyone left in the U.S. voted for Huckabee, he would still LOSE. It is impossible for him to win. That is my point. If every republican from now on voted for him, he still wouldn’t reach 1191. Outside of the evangelical states he can’t break 30%. He isn’t even campaigning anymore. And he hasn’t won the most “republican states”. I don’t care if you like Mormons or not. Utah has been the MOST republican state in the Union. LOOK IT UP. Guess what number 2 is! Idaho. So if you are going to post please use facts. Come on, I know you can find facts that support Huckabee. The problem is, they only tell half truths. Or did you miss the New Hampshire debate. Huckabee lowered taxes 94 times. Wow that is amazing. He saved Arkansas $300 million dollors. What a wonderful guy. Full of integrity. Oh wait the bombshell. He also raised taxes $800 million.
No candidate is “taking money from his campaign”. That is illegal. Ask Huckabee! He did it twice and was fined for it both times. Then on top of that he didn’t report it to the IRS. So go ahead and congratulate for not doing it now. I am glad you understand campaign finance.
I never thought you post was an attack on me, specifically. I thought it was an attack on intelligence everywhere. Huckabee is a horrible candidate. His foreign policy is terrifying. Go look it up. HIs website is great. Under foreign policy, it says that we should give more than the $10 billion a year we are currently giving them so that they won’t be destroyed. They are really being destroyed by Palestinians who can’t even feed their families because Israel keeps them in internment camps. Israel is the dominant force in the Middle East, because of the U.S. Why is it that is his only foreign policy? The man understand so little of the world. His economic plan? Build a road in Florida while campaigning there. Build a road in California while campaigning there. Do you know what we call that? PORK BARREL PROJECTS? Or is the Fair Tax? The 30% tax on goods that if you twist the numbers it can look like 23% but isn’t, and it will create the same revenue that we are currently getting with us paying less. Wow, he really didn’t major in math. The man is a MORON. That is my point, and has always been my point. He won’t get elected, nor will he ever get elected. He can further his career of speaking. That is what he is doing. My other point is how sad it is that so many people are being duped by him. Those who are, according to exit polls, are all evangelicals. How is it that you people are so easily duped. I guess if you are willing to pay a minister to tell you what the Bible says, you are pretty easily duped. That is why the age of enlightenment was so great. People learned to read and could get the Bible so they could figure it our for themselves. Maybe I should pass the plate after this post. Some of you might, just by habit, throw some money in it.

And to all who have been saying the only opposition is from the Mormons who don’t like Huckabee. Get a grip. There aren’t that many mormons in the U.S. to make it only them. And trust me. This isn’t an angry Mormon trying to tear Huckabee down. This is a post from someone you looks at the facts and sees an idiot when one is standing there.

I respect that Governor Huckabee is (one of) the only candidates still running that is not taking a senator or congressman’s salary while they are campaigning!

Comment by reuel

Out of the last 4 only Huckabee is not a Sitting Senator.

Do not vote for a SITTING SENATOR. If they are so good as senators, then they can always remain as good senators. It is a shame to draw senate salary and do nothing but campaigning.

In US history only 2 SITTING SENATORS have ever been elected President. Both died in office.
Why create another “Widowed 1st lady”.

Vote for Huckabee.

Ike,

Romney is (I’m sorry WAS) a flip-flopper… He doesn’t know what he believes. He’s an opportunist. Typical politician (he follows the polls because he does not have principles).

FACT: Was pro-choice (strongly) … He is now pro-life?
FACT: Was pro-gay-marriage… He claims to be against it now?
FACT: He raised taxes (sorry… fees) in MA
FACT: He had lobbyists advising him in his campaign.

I did not form what I believe listening to Mike Huckabee. I know what I believe. It is obvious that you have something against Christians. And Jews it seems now.

Roads in FL - He was being critical of the stimulus package and giving ways the money could better be used. Twist it all you want. You’re unreasonable… it was Mitt that started the attacks and you can see where it got him. Bye Bye.
