Meet the New Frontrunner?
During the course of the hour and 45-minute CNN debate between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, the RNC communications department was busy sending out emails to reporters on the issues discussed and the candidates’ statements, as they usually do.
Danny Diaz, one of the staffers at the RNC, sent out a total of 13 emails during the debate tonight - 12 of which focused on Mr. Obama. Diaz questioned Obama’s stance on Cuba, immigration, economic policies, foreign policy, and troop funding. He also sent out a couple of emails with the subject: “Another Lifted Line by Obama?”
When asked if this means the RNC has determined Obama the frontrunner, Diaz responded, “What we do is a reflection of political reality.”

I do believe Obama did better then he did in the last debate however I believe most of the questions were pretty dull and some open ended. Hillary did very well and some of the Obama supporters should take note of this. As a hispanic, I can not see how Obama clicked with me. I have been undecided and I really see now that Hillary is going to be my choice. He did not show me that he knew what it was to live without. He also confused me about the whole Cuba thing. I believe that my voice is clearly heard with Hillary
i agree with you arwa
Hillary all the way! She rocked the debate!
if Hillary is the choice…than I will for the first time in my life vote republican..she is scary!
we need someone ‘COMPLETELY’ new
I have been laid off three times in the last 2 years due to a poor economy. Thus leaving me and my son without any health care coverage. I have to pull teeth just to get unemployment. I can not take this anymore. We have to put Hillary in place because she has the proven experience to fix this mess. To me now, living in America is not a winning game, it’s a matter of survival.

Barack “Hussein” Obama is a Muslim, past Muslim and I would never vote for a person that does not believe in the Bible and has a koran instead. Never! I believe that Barack “Hussein” Obama might have the similar feels are his wife, Michelle Obama.
There are no words for Michelle Obama’s speech —- lots of black people I know - even a very bad reaction on their face….they too can’t even begin to believe what Michelle Obama must have been thinking. A person with such an educational background and clearly and slowly make such a statement. Was she on drugs???? I believe that is truly how Michelle Obama feels and plainly stated it.
Then, Barack “HUssein” Obama and his plagiarism situation…….again - no presidential material….and no place in the White House.
Both - Barack “HUssein” Obama and Michelle Obama are a disgrace……and have no place in the White House at all. Shame on Barack “Hussein” Obama and Shame on Michelle Obama as well.

Hillary speaks and says nothing and this is why she wants to debate once a week? The end is near and soon you will hear what the American people will have been chanting for weeks and that is we don’t want you.
I am a Hispanic female, native Texan / Catholic and in my late 30’s. I have always voted Republican but this time I am voting for Barack (means blessing) Obama, just call me an Obamican… I have done my research!
.
Don’t judge him by his name that his parents gave him, out of his control and he is a Jr. this was his Nigerian father’s name. He was raised by a single mother / grand parents and he went without a lot in his young live but prevailed.
***
For the uninformed person that wrote that Senator Obama is a Muslim, please do a thorough research or at least see the documentary about his life, his step-dad was (Indonesian) and Muslim, not Barack’s choice. His mother later divorced that man and raised Barack in Hawaii
Barack married his wife 12 yrs ago in a Christian church, he is Christian.
.
Look at his record in helping the poor, he graduated Law school with Honors and could have had a lucrative Wallstreet career but chose to do community service and help the poor.
.
He is an incredible caring and giving person.
Vote Barack Obama and Texans remember “early voting”, & vote OBAMA!
Blondshag:
God does not choose sides nor does he get involved in politics.
Dana De La Rosa,
Please understand that for us latinos, he will not really do much. He serves a purpose of lifting you up just to bring you down. If you or I were applying for a job, the first thing we would be asked by the employer is about our experience. I applaud Obama he really does inspire people. No question but we have to look past the feel good and do the right thing. I think it is important if you would also research Clinton and review both of the canidates. You are the employer in this and you must determine who is qualified to do the job. Good luck to you and God bless
I wish people would wake up to Obama. Read and write your senators on the items he wants to pass

I firmly believe that Hillary is the best candidate. I would definitely hire her. She is aware of the facts and knows the issues that plague the American people. America is ready for a woman president. The media is slanted towards Barack Obama and it is very obvious. The media is scared that if they grill Obama hard enough, they will be called racists. So Obama is given a “free pass” by the media. The media is hard on Hillary because they are not ready for a woman president to lead. It will be a victory for all especially women if Hillary gets elected. No other female will be able to go this far–for the next two decades. Experience equates to solutions. Obama is eloquent but at the end of the day his words mean nothing. His words however uplifting will not put food on the table or provide health care for all.NASA will not let a person who just got their pilots license to fly the space shuttle, they demand experience. The American people should consider that parallelism.
I do not understand so many of you not realizing why Barack Obama is the choice for this moment in history. And yet I do. When your vision is side blinded by personal concerns, false information, and a posture of stubborn refusal to step out of the comfort zone into a new idea, then decisions are made without a full scale understanding of the picture.
Barack Obama is talking about attempting to bring INTEGRITY, HONESTY, and TRANSPARENCY to a corrupt government. He speaks of changing the paradigm, the way of thinking of an entire culture that has brought this country and the world to the precipice it now stands upon. Can any one man do this? No, of course not.
But the people of this country have taken a stand. At least the Obama supporters have. They are sending a message to the government officials that most reporters do not seem expand upon at all. We the people are sick and tired of corruption, false fronts, corporate greed, ad infinitum. A government that is struggling to manage anything because of its own self centeredness, greed and partisanship.
And as a MOVEMENT of people, from the grassroots, is spreading a determination - a feeling of hope that this can be changed. And a realization that the only way it can be changed is by the masses coming together for the good of ALL. Not the good of a few. And Obama is that leader with that message.
Hillary Clinton has had a remarkable career and carved her niches. But it is true that she runs on the same race track as the government in general. Obama may not be a perfect man. But it seems to be pretty hard for anyone to come up with any devious, underhanded, unethical, illegal etc, etc, things that he has done. If one is honest, there is much in Clinton’s history that fits those descriptions.
As for you “Christians” proclaiming over and over that Obama is a muslim - give it up. It has been proven over and over that he is not. He is also not a muslim hater - which is really what you don’t like. He stands against fanaticism and terrorism. Which as a “Christian” - so should you. You however seem to hate the whole tree for the few bad apples. Many decent muslims are suffering and dying because of the actions of some. These are human beings, individual people, children, with as much right to their existence as the Creator gives to you. After all, you proclaim to believe in One God, creator of all that is. You can hardly leave out muslims and honestly proclaim your faith.
We have to change our way of thinking people! As well as our way of dealing with each other, in families, communities and globally. Part of our cultural cynicism and self centeredness and cultural corrption is a reflection of our own leaders and government, and our refusal to do anything about it. We have become immune to it. We say “Thats the way it is. Accept it.”
Like watching crap on TV and in the movies in the name of art until we expect it and are disappointed when it is missing.
The time has come to do something. But WHAT we do must be intelligent, sound, resaonable,
principled and ethical and honest. For the first time someone is saying we can do it. He doesn’t say HE can do it (alone). He says we have a chance IF we all try together. He makes you realize you count, that your effort is as important as the politician in the office. And he is right. We are all in this together. If the world goes up in smoke - we all go up together.
But you count the most when get up, shake off the apathy, and do something, take part, stop being a bystander and become a doer. That is what is inspiring people.
That is the difference between Clinton and Obama.
Wouldn’t you rather be on the side of positive change, on the side of hope? Even if WE fail - WE have at least tried, the effort was made. This is a most exciting time we live in. I pray that the human race in America has evolved (by divine direction of course) far enough to make the best decision for our future.
Vote Obama.
LYNNE
Actually the smoke screen is in front of your eyes. You are inspired by emptyness. Everyone I am talking to would not vote for him if he wins as they are telling me they would just vote for Mcain. TALK IS CHEAP. If you like to hear sermons then go to church. This is not American Idol. He is not qualified to do the job even when he says he believes he can do it. Grown people know it takes experience to clean up the mess NOT TALK.
Arwa,
In what universe does Hillary rodham Clinton know ANYTHING about doing without? I respect your support for her. We disagree, but I do not find you delusional, deranged, or otherwise divorced from reality.
I just think you have come to the incorrect conclusions, as I am sure you would think of me.
LYNNE,
After reading you comment, it seems you’re probably educated. I had promised I would no longer respond to comments on these blogs, but I have chosen to because I must reiterate to you that which you may already be aware; 97.93% of those here by my estimate using differential equations are uneducated-ignorant beyond recovery.
Why yell at one birthed deaf? please read the comments and do not waste your time responding to ignorance and thereby reducing your intelligence.
While congratulations are in order for Mr Obama I think he is soon going to find out the true colors of his party.
The HRC campaign has already injected race, religion, lack of experience, and now plagiarism into the campaign ( and this is what they call the party of inclusion-PLEASE). The dirty tricks have just begun.
Soon, Hillary will go to court to have FL and MI delegates counted in her favor. Naturally, the case will be heard by a Bill Clinton appointee who will not even have the common decency to recuse him/herself. Not that it matters. Once it gets to the FL Supreme Court it’s a Hillary win. This of course will be used to set the precadent for the MI Supreme court.
Next, it will be time to work the superdelegates. Favors will be called in and dirty linen threatened to be aired. Either fall in line or be publically disgraced in some way. We all know what happens when you don’t toe the Clinton line, you get strangled by it (just ask Ron Brown, Vince Foster, Ed Willey, or Mary Mahoney). For all you yahoos who don’t know who these people are, Google them.
Obama seems like a genuinely honest man (albeit so far left he makes HRC look moderate) but the Democratic party was long ago lost to fringe lunatics like MoveOn.Org, the PETA, ACLU and even the DNC. Sure Obama didn’t mind when these far left radicals were smearing the GOP. Now that he’s the target he will see how it feels and just how low the HRC campaign and DNC will stoop to grab power (a la Ed Rendell).
Also, Barack’s naivete in regards to border control and illegal immigrants is getting ready to come back and haunt him. Barack is from Chicago so he is no stranger to fixed elections but when 2 or 3 million illegals vote in Texas for Hillary you will see districts with 100,000 registered voters and oddly enough all of them vote (for Hillary of course). Hillary will also be dragging out the convicted felons and the dead people to vote as well.
The Clintons are now and always have been about power for themselves. They care nothing about America or the “working class”, they care about themselves. They worship at the Kennedy altar and hope to have a legacy like them. Of course, Jack and Bobby screwed models, actresses, and debutantes. Bill screwed dumb bumpkins, ugly chicks, and fat chicks. Jackie was the envy of girls and women around the world. She was what Hillary will never be ” a Lady “.
A large portion of the Kennedy children ended up in politics and the course is now being paved for Chelsea. It looks like David Shuster was right after all. Chelsea, you are being “pimped out”. You’re on the campaign trail and that makes you fair game.
Welcome to the big leagues Barack. I hope you can see that the deck was stacked against you from the beginning. The machine wants Hillary and they will do ANYTHING to get what they want. Don’t worry though, they will throw you a bone. Maybe you can be the HUD Secretary or something along those lines.
Obama is not a doer…He is man full of empty promises, lifted rhetoric and two faced contradictions!!!
Obama allowed his Energy Bill to be watered down to such a degree that it became nothing more than political lip service to a major problem.
He has done nothing apart from release a dumb rap vid on YouTube to appeal to young voters who believe they are voting for the next American Idol and pimping out that trashy “Obama Girl” to make him look like some sort of rockstar….Its pathetic!!!!!!!!!
These Obama supporters are so stupid with their banality of supporting a nominee on the basis of perceived image over substance are the same morons who now, attack and mock the only individual in this Presidential race that has the ability to restore the American economy, provide universal health care for EVERY American and undo all the travesties of the Bush administration regarding foreign policy - Hillary Clinton!!!
This race is not an episode of American Idol…If Obama wins the democratic nomination then the Obama supporters have won nothing…but America will lose EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
Obama says he voted against the Iraq war. However, considering he was not even in the Senate at the time the war started this statement is ridiculous.
Since the war however, Obama has voted TWICE for American soldiers to remain in Iraq…Can someone in the Obama camp please explain to me how this is opposing the war?
Lynne;
Your commentary is right on point. You make a cogent argument towards supporting Mr.Obama without resorting to using a illogical, emotional, fear-based line of reasoning.
I agree with another blogger who stated that many of the individuals who posted on this page probably are uneducated and are basing their comments on an ill-conceived perception of the world. I blame the political establishment for this (No !!!! this is not a slam on Bush). But I honestly think that some people refuse to question the reasons politician tell us that “people hate us for our democracy”e.g.
Someone once told me that when you believe that you are better than the rest, your though process creates a line of reasoning to justify this. That is exactly what’s happening. Many Americans have been indoctrinated with an instilled belief of Imperialism and as a result, we are more apt to exploit the wrongs of other countries as a means to promote our belief of being moral, economically, politically superior.
Yes, the world has bad people, rulers, dictators and governments. We should never forget this. But we should also re-examinine the way we our country deals with global issues. I would suggest a re-evaluation of our ideologies.
Remember, this countries has many moral and political deficiencies that we must not forget. (e.g look at out education system when compared with other industrial nations).
My point is this. When promoting a political candidate, ideal or philosophy. Lets not resort to ill-conceived logic.
The Clinton Machine…
….is running out of fuel. Maybe you should not have voted against ethanol. I will
payback to you the 5 million you owe yourself if John Edwards comes out for you.
Mrs. Clinton you took fuel out of your own political tank when you ingaged in smear tatics when you knew up front the American people are tired of that (at least Democrats , independants and some republicans are). You husband has not helped you. I loved Bill Clinton as a President. I thought he was different. I thought he was the next comming of John Kennedy. But he ruined that when he destroyed the medical plant in Sudan, Africa that is in itself caused thousands to die in Africa. He ruined that when lied to the American people when he told us ” I did not have sexual relations with that woman”. He ruined that vision I had of him when he compared Obama’s victory in South Carolina to that of Jesse Jackson, a failed attempt to minimize Obama as a person. He ruined that when he accused Obama’s voters of living in a “fairy tale”.
You didn’t help yourself when you told Obama voters to “get real”. That sounds like your husbands voice. Where is the vioce you told me you found in N.H Mrs. Clinton? In addition, I am not looking forward to having Bill in the White House agian with all those interns around and nothing to do. How dare you criticize Obama’s use of a phrase from a friend when in last nights 19th debate your last phrase was very close to that used by John Edwards. Mrs. Clinton I am saying that you are petty.
Furthermore Mrs. Clinton, crying on T.V?? You got me in New Hampshire. I cried with you and I agreed with those who voted for you in that Primary. But than I started THINKING. Do I want you in the White House crying over the national debt, education, national security, tax reform, the war in Iraq, illegal immigration, cuba, affganistan, AIDS in Africa, AIDS in America, the war on drugs, the economic war on middle east oil, the war on poverty, “no child left behind”, Iran and Korea, the housing crisis, NAFTA, health care, social security etc.
I am looking at how you are running your campaign. I am looking at the mismanagement of your own money. You won’t disclse your tax returns why? You lend 5 million to keep you stay in the race. You fire your friends who support you because times look tough in you election. With friends like you I don’t need enemies and I see that I don’t want you in charge of my country.
This is not an attack on you as a woman. You talk about your record of 35 years. Well I have only been alive 36 years. My record only means something if I have established a pattern of consistant success not for myself, but for other Mrs. Clinton. Your record only means something if you have won for others and you have not.
So, I question the following. I question your ability to lead this nation. I question your ability to bring people together. I question your judgement in general. I question you leadership for global issues. I question your ability to let americans hear your voice and not Bill’s. You are the second comming of a lessor Bill Clinton clone.
In the beginning, I liked Obama. But I soon noticed a pattern.
Our country is a failure. America sucks basically.
Obama begins explaining our downfalls one by one. The misery we have
forced on others. I’m defeated…and hopeless.
But then, Obama speaks about being able to save us. My spirit lifts.
Each speech has startes with condemnation and ends with salvation.
This pattern is becoming sick. Obama, nor his wife, acknowledges our
greatness. We are the people, over 300 million of us verses over 1000
politicians, and we are being told we are failures….but OBAMA can save
our souls.
Their speeches amount to hating who America is and pay back for being
told to wait in line (Michelle) for college. Over 100 years later and I’m still
being made to feel guilty for having to stand in line for college.
Wasn’t it Obama, who recently attacked McCain for saying American could
be in Iraq for 100 years? Quite an attack seeing that his wife thinks we still owe her.
It is amazing how no two news reporting agencies can get the same delegate count. Is it that they do not have counting skills or is it that our delegate system is not accurate? I am disappointed in the lack of accuracy in this basic function. Or could it an intended inaccuracy on the part of journalism? I believe that it could be a law suit waiting to happen!
I must agree with comment by “don’t waste your time”,
Most of the comments on here are horrendously illogical. Question for Pat: In your last paragraph, what in the world are you talking about with your analogy between Michelle Obama and John McCain? You make absolutely no sense. Where are the intelligent people who support Hillary? It is so ironic that Hillary supporters refer to Obama supporters as delusional.
Look, I probably don’t fit the typical profile here–I hold two post secondary degrees, an undergraduate degree in engineering and an Ivy League graduate business degree. I am sure, for this reason, my opinion won’t be respected. After all I am way too educated to make a logical decision. All of these young, educated Obama supporters have no clue. We know nothing about researching a candidate or following and making sense of complicated domestic and global issues. Oh no, the uneducated, and the 65 and older bigot crowd know much, much better what’s good for America. Don’t vote for Obama, his middle name is Husain. I got some junk mail that said he was a Muslim and took his oath of office on the Koran: I’m so smart, I believe what pops up in my junk mail or maybe it just fits my bigoted world view.
Yeah, we’re delusional and naive. Give me a break. Look I really don’t want to be demeaning, but don’t run around calling people delusion and naïve when you can’t even put together a logical statement.
Its going to be amazing, once this peon name Obama wins the jackass, I mean the Democratic nomination (forgive me for the jackass word as I keep forgetting that the Democratic symbol happens to be a jackass)…and just how bad Obama is going to look when McCain rips him a new one. It reminds me of Bush Jr. and what Bush did to John Kerry in the debates, making an absolute fool of Kerry when everyone thought, prior to the debates, that the opposite was going to take place. This is going to be ideology forged against ideology and there will be no place for Obama to hide on stage. For all those who really believe that the next president is going to be a Democrat, not a chance in the World this is going to happen! Not a chance after the first debate as McCain hasn’t even taken his gloves off yet and got dirty. Obama will become the whoopin’ boy which he deserves to be.
Billary backers— You know that she is done. C’mon, you know it. She can say or do nothing at this point to win. She had her chance last night and she failed (as usual) to convince people to vote for her. Even her almost weeping at the end of the TX debate didn’t work. Obama is retaining his core supporters, getting a larger portion of the undecided, and taking her supporters. I was at an event last night where there were several Billary supporters. They all left dejected and questioning their candidate. However, the Obama supporters were pleased and energized.
I see no need for another debate in OH. She has nothing to say that will change the course and frankly I’m tired of hearing the same crap from her. She will lose big in TX and OH just like she did in the last 11. Oh, but wait…
I have an idea. Perhaps it’s time for Billary backers to try “hope” as a new strategy. It would be what—her 7th or 8th change in strategy. Ironically for Billary backers, “hope” for her and you is exactly what Billary has been calling it throughout her pathetic campaign—blind optimism.
Billary is Done. Billary is Done.
To Don’t Waste Your Time and Sean
I am not particularly educated, however, I am not particularly stupid. I am seriously considering your comments.
You are so correct that attempting to “communicate” with certain people is pointless. If one is closed to information - either good or bad, positive or negative, true or false - then one does not have the opportunity to take information in, explore and discover what is the truth of the matter ponder the issue, and then determine one’s position with as much wisdom as one can muster.
On the other hand - one does not know what one does not know. On occassion, there just might be someone out there you can teach, or learn from, or on rarer occassions, truely communicate with.
The point made about our own awareness of our nation being good while being not so good is so important to me. We behave as a country as we behave as individuals. This country is made up of all the types of people who are blogging on this site. On a one by one basis, not too many of us really appreciate looking at our own faults and sins. To say nothing about being self- motivated to do something about it. Change comes with struggle, and hardship and heartache and suffering until we get it right.
We need honesty speakers to tell us what we do not want to hear or acknowledge. If the the truth cannot be told and dealt with honestly, then we will fail as a nation as we would as an individual. Without the naysayers we would be telling ourselves we are the chosen race/country (which many Americans sound like already). The next step is too see all others having no value compared to ourselves and should be done away with that we may not be impeded (sounds like a few more I know and have listened to). Sounds very Nazi like to me.
A parent can love a child in varying degrees. A parent may love a child so much that they want that child to happy and contented always. A parent does like to see a child suffer. But if a child does not suffer some and does not experience pain and learns how to behave appropriately to avoid that pain then the child very well encounter huge hardships. He may be a disappointment later in life. Not only to his parent but to himself. If a child steals and the parent does not tell him it is wrong to steal (a principle) and put the child in a position to rectify what he has done - then the child has missed learning a very important lesson in life.
If a parent protects the child so the child is not judged as a thief, even though he is, for whatever reason the parent may have (because the parent does not want to face the humiliation of his child being a thief?) who has committed the greater sin? The parent or the child?
I see our nation moving in that direction. Within our “justice” system, the guilty are more protected than the victims. And that to me is also why our government is corrupted, our legal system is corrupted, our economic system is without ethical morays, and our media system rips our moral fabric apart by those who can profit the most. And so it trickles down to the child and the parent - watching and learning how to get along in a society that behaves like this.
And someone is Anti-American to say this happening and we must do something about it? I think not. They are simply that parent acting as a parent. Again - what do we do about it? And how do we do it? are the important questions.
Is it fanciful and silly to be thinking about a presidential election in philosophical, ethical or moral ideaologies? Not in this election. Not when we stand on the brink of several means of destruction by our own hands. Somebody needs to stand up say “Let’s turn the tide. Let’s fix what is wrong. Let’s go in a better direction. And by the way, Let’s do it together because I cannot do it by myself.”
Maybe Barack Obama is a fake. Maybe he is all wet. Maybe he can’t deliver. But he is speaking truth to me. At least what I see and understand as truth right now. Or maybe he speaks what I want to hear.
I want my three year old grandson to be able to grow to adulthood. I want him to live in a culture of freedom and responsibility. I want him to have a chance to do something positive and meaningful with his life. I see children being blown up in Iraq and shot in drive by shootings on our own streets -and I think - there is a grandmother somewhere weeping and sobbing. I don’t want to see her or her children or grandchildren suffer or die. And I don’t want to be her.
I want to see us heal our world. When enough of us get busy and stand up and turn the tide - we’ll have a chance. This may be it.
Anyway, I don’t think it is really about Barack Obama as much as it is about the principles that Barack Obama is talking about that are important. And those principles are what democracy was created upon and what will save the human race. We really do need to see a bigger picture.
Thank you for your comments.
