McCain on NYT story: “Not true”
done
Toledo, OH — Sen. John McCain rebuked a New York Times report that he had an inappropriate relationship and did favors for a telecom lobbyist.
“I’m very disappointed in the article. And it’s not true,” McCain said during a 15-minute press conference, describing lobbyist Vicki Iseman as just a friend. “As it’s been pointed out, I’ve served this nation honorably for more than a half a century…at no time have I ever done anything that would betray the public trust.” (Video above)
His wife Cindy, who stood beside the Senator during the press conference, also came to her husband’s defense.

“I’m very disappointed in the New York Times. And more importantly, my children and i not only trust my husband, but know that he would never do anything to not only disappoint our family but disappoint the people of America,” she said. “He’s a man of great character.”

Even if it is true, where’s the liberal tolerance to it? It shouldn’t be news worthy according to liberal tolerance doctrine.
How about an unsubstanciated Hillary lesbian rug muncher story. That would sell NYT papers for a few days.
No matter your political bent, wouldn’t it be refreshing to see campaigns waged in the arena of relevant ideas, with comensurate media coverage?
As a population, we’re degenerating to a checkout lane tabloid/gossip/celebrity culture, and nearly absent cerebral discourse.
We can do better.
I’m with you, Nukethenewsies!
Why no gutter stories on Hillary Clinton, true or not?
Oh yeah, that right - she’s their anointed one.
John McCain is nothing more then an offering to the Democratic Gods since well before the race began the Republican leaders knew there was no chance of retaining the White House. So to make this dog and pony show more viable to the American voters they offer up McCain as their sacrificial lamb for slaughter to portray their support for him when in fact they are looking to groom their candidates for the 2012 race. This will mark the end for McCain’s political career when his chances for re-election to the Senate do not look any brighter as well.
The media is a little skiddish of Clinton right now after the “pimping out” comments.
Anyways, I really thing some of the tabloids have a higher quality of sourcing than the NY Times right now.
The crap the NYT’s put out… is just a liberal tactic to take focus off M.Obama’s comments she made …come on wake up …they got what they wanted… .now were all focused on the packs of lies ..who got the last laugh now … FOCUS
at least HE (JOHN MC CAIN) did not embarrass OUR COUNTRY in OUR WHITEHOUSE
Another attempt by a group of bi-sexual, Jewish rag journalists to smear a good man’s reputation. By the way, if McCain did have a relationship with this lobbyist, which he did not, why would the NY Times care? …..As they have Barney Frank and his boyfriends to hassle, Bill Clinton and his concubines to report, and Hillary and her lesbian lovers to hammer on. The hipocrasy is atrocious with this pro-gay rag…..of a paper.
one does wonder if this is John McCains’….
“I did not have sexual relations with that woman”
Moment….????
Does this mean that Cindy McCain is now qualfied to run for President in 2012?
I agree with D. If anybody was really paying attention M.Obama almost blatently said im happy we think we can vote for an African American now, but no “breakning news about john Mccain”. The fact is that when first reported it seemed to be a typical gossip romanctic thing, which people can see right through. After that it became a political and trust issue.” Can we trust John McCain to make good decisions based on the country and not on his friends?” NYT used this because their scared a republican front runer has been comming and he is getting support from republicans who have dropped out showing unity as opposed to the democrats who are taking political bashing to the next level and even if one were to drop out it wouldnt support the other candidate. NYT has a good reason to be scared, but lets all take time to remember that Mr.Obama’s wife basically turned her interview into a show of civil rights instead of an election of several good candidates. It’s now two good candidates and the strong persistent and reluctant African American.
It’s a long way to November.
McCain could croak or Obama could have an “accident” between now and then.
Anything is possible.
Hello McCain supporters . Those meat and potatoes don’t go down that good when the shoe is on the other foot does it . Just a few days ago you all were all over that statement Ms. Obama said and was misqouted on by irresponsible media outlets just to get a story . All i’m saying is as far as i’ve researched John McCain is a good man . My gripe with him is he’s to much like George Bush and after what i’ve been thru these last 8yrs . I’m burned out . We need real change not the same old Washington . That’s why i’m voting Obama 08 . Be smart and do the same .
Go Obama 08 !!!!!!!!!
@ rodney
Michelle Obama wasn’t misquoted, I saw the video clips of what she said.
she should have left the country years ago if she was not proud of OUR
COUNTRY no one forced her to stay…….. dont like it here? get out of HERE
Rodney,
It’s pretty tough to be misquoted when the actual moving picture and accompanying audio are viewed and recorded live.
And what is it you’ve been through the last 8 years that is the President of the United States’ fault?
I see you’re an Obama man. You’re for hope, then. Know what hope is? It’s an excuse for doing nothing.
There’s plenty of room for improvement and hope in Africa. Maybe Obama could start there, if he genuinely gave a sh*t.
i like your comment francine
The truth about McCain is starting to come to life. The press has been dealing with McCain with kids gloves throughout the primaries. All of that is about to come to an end. Most pundits today from all the cable news networks have tried, to no avail to put a favorable spin on the story in McCain’s behalf. The one thing the pundits should have learned from the primaries so far is that the American people are tired of business as usual. Mr McCain, it is not okay for our elected officials to cheat on their spouses despite what some pundits and analysts have said today. Mr. McCain It is not okay to allow lobbyists to control our national agenda. Mr. McCain it is not okay to adopt Mr. Bush’s political agenda. We the people do not want to see a third Bush term. Mrs. Cinton it is not okay to ignore the voice of the peole whom you claim to be a champion for. Mr. Clinton, you deserve much credit for shaping the democratic over the last 16 years, but it is not okay to use “by any means necessary” tactics to procure the democratic nomination for your wife even if it means destroying the same party you profess to love. Mrs. Clinton you know like we know that you will not be leading the elected delegate count come June 7th. For you to win the nomination you will have to steal it. The question i have for you Mrs. Clinton is, would it be worth the consequences. I have been a supporter of you the Clintons for many years, but now it seems like what was in the dark has come to light. And Mr. Media, you cannot fool the people any longing. No longer will you be able to advance your agenda on us no longer. Mr. Media whatever happened to objectivity. Mr. Media the time for change has truly come. America, i commend you for your fortitude, and your unwillingness to succumb to the will of an elite few.
semajh, you do a great job at critically analyzing your candidate and exposing the media outlets, but you disreguard finding the truth for McCain. First I absolutely believe McCain himself when he says he never did anything with this women that was not political. Second the FCC released papers showing McCain’s opposition to Ms.Iseman’s agenda several years ago (the papers he wrote did not support all the things she wanted). McCain has been known for his belief in lobbyist reform. And as for the political agenda it would be great to list it, don’t hide behind those two words say what political agenda McCain is going to carry from President Bush.
We believe you, and believe in you John. Unequivocally.
NY Times is a left-wing rag which gets their que from places like moveon.org and Code Pink. Wake up America.
I would be proud if I was McCain.
What is the matter with getting a little strange nookie? Especially at his age. I say go for it BIG JOHN!
J.D. : It was political.
John says: I thank you Vicki for your contrubution (as he zips up his trousers).
Rodney, you’ll get change alright, and when they start taxing big buisness and your job moves off shore, and those taxes trickle down to the common folk, you might in retrospect want to accept one of those tax breaks that this President has given you……Its your right to vote the way you want to,but,in comparison to the rest of the world,I’d guess you’re doing alright….you have the luxury of having a computer to post the things you do,,,,,some people in this world won’t eat tomorrow…..
I GUESS MY COMMENTS HIT HOME THEY ARENT SHOWING UP ON THIS BLOG TRUTH HURTS………………………MICHELLE, BILL GET TOGETHER CIGARS A PLENTY NO
EDUCATION BRIEFS NO BOXERS NOT BEING PROUD
IF YOU WERE PROUD YOU WOULDNT INSULT OUR COUNTRY OUR OUR WHITEHOUSE
GET IT CLINTONS OBAMAS??????
OR OUR WHITEHOUSE
Just another reason that voting for McCain is like voting democrat. The 2 things that McCain had were integrity and military experience during a time of war. McCain will get waxed by Obama in November. This is just morfe un-needed ammo for him. The problem isnt so mutch the relationship but rather who the relationship is with. A lobbyist. Tell me that isnt a conflict of interest. Tell me that doesnt cast a shadow of doubt on if he can be bought. This is far more serious than an intern. Futhermore, I believe it happened. If we dont wake up and make sure that Mike Huckabee wins the nomination in a brokered convention then we deserve what we will get with Obama. We had a conservative candidate with integrity but the media derailed him at every turn. Mike Huckabee can debate Obama. Mike Huckabee can also claim he supports change by abolishing the IRS.
Remember what happened the last time a candidate ended up getting elected with a questionable sexual past. Poeple didnt believe the allegations. That president ended up getting impeached by the house.
Come on People!!! Wake up!!!
To all of you Obama heads … Why do we have lobbyists, and what do companies and industries pay so much for political influence? The aswer is quite simple … for manipulation of the tax code! Companies spend exhobitant amounts of money to reduce their tax liability. Why don’t you get Obama to suport the Fair Tax. That would eliminate the ability to manipulate the tax code, thus eliminating the need for lobbyists altogether.
