FOX Embeds: Follow the ELV

The Across America Tour, Day Ten: Amarillo, Texas

By Lee Ross

What a welcome we had in Amarillo tonight. We made our way to the Big Texan Restaurant. Home of the FREE 72 oz steak dinner. If you eat the whole hunk of beef–dinner is free. A poster in the lobby of the restaurant shows ten people have accomplished the task since the start of the year. All who try have one hour to finish their plate. Of this year’s ten the oldest was 50 and the youngest 22. The heaviest was 315 pounds and the lightest was–get this–125 pounds. WoW!!!!!! One man even finished in just 43 minutes. Team AA will look elsewhere on the menu. As is said it was quite a gathering here at Big Texas. The Amarillo High School cheerleaders were here along with a strong and vocal group of Ron Paul supporters. It was the first time on our trip that we’ve come across active supporters for any of the candidates. Not really sure what is in store for us tomorrow as we spotted on the local news that tomorrow’s location has been broadcast across the area. There could be quite a crowd to see us off in the morning.

You sure seem to arrive when the weather arrives on this trip. Glad you found the Big Texan I had been writing the F&F crew and Bill and Megyn telling you to go there. Pickup Alisyn a Dont Mess With Texas or Route 66 Tshirt in the Gift shop and send me the bill.

Phil they have a husband wife team come here to eat the 72 ouncer. He ways maybe 150 and she would surprise me if she hit the scale ove 110. We think you need to man up and try it.

Glad You stopped by. I was the one with the Fox News Channel cap. Bought You a “Texas Kicks A**” bumper sticker but it didnt stick to the ELV due to the road grime.

Keep up the good work. Have fun and God Speed.

Phil,

I have lived in Amarillo my entire life and as usual the only people we saw on the news with you at the Big Texan were the “upper-crust society” people. I am sorry you did not get to interview any of the really down to earth, hard-working people who are the majority of the voters here.

I have no idea why high school cheerleaders were included when they are not even old enough to vote.

I remain a fan of Fox News and hope we are not judged by those you did meet.

It’s great to see you “on the street/road” with the everyday folks. You report, we decide is the way to go. This explains why FOX is taking away real estate ratings from the Networks that “think” they speak for America. Keep up the good work and watch your speed into Colorado they are proud of their radar!!
