Hillary Weighs In on Obama’s Copied Speech

After a long day on the Wisconsin campaign trail, Sen Clinton told reporters in the back of her press plane that Sen Obama should stick to writing his own speeches.

“If your whole candidacy’s about words, they should be your own words. That’s what I think,” she said.

Clinton also said she has people reviewing the arcane Texas voting laws to try to figure out delegate allocation; the state holds both a primary and a caucus, both of which award delegates. The NY Senator said the process is “making grown men cry even as we speak.”

And after offering to have a beer with voters at her last stop in Madison, WI, she expressed her fondness for a good brew, saying she’s been known to work “both sides of the beer aisle.” Glass of wine in hand, she said a particular favorite on the road is a wheat beer called Blue Moon — which she likes with an orange dropped in.

I contend that this is just another enlightment of flaws in the digniety, morals and ethics of the Clintons. I respect Obama for not using the treasure chest of amunition on the Clintons background of morals! Seems to me Just Words is innocent compared to the Clintons perjury and embarressing affairs. Granted Bills affairs, however you vote for one and get both! These efforts to berate Obama are so childish that I believe that most people will see through what is their normal tactics to hurt anyone who gets in their way! Eight years of Clintons is more than any country should have to bear! They frankly scare me to what means they would use given the White house again! Obama will rise above this current attack as the gentleman that he is and has defined and lived his life by.

You people need to WAKE UP! Obama has finally been EXPOSED! It’s obvious that yes he wrote his own books..supposedly. However when a person running for President of the United States has wooed it’s voters with all the HOPE and DREAM…then to find out that yes he indeed use SOMEONE else’s speech…it hits home. Obama might be the nominee..however he’ll never be President. America is just not ready to hand over someone who knows nothing about us to look after us.

Morals.Integrity.Politicians.One of these things is not like the others(we learned this on Sesame Street).Sift through the buffoonery people. No candidate is exactly what they appear to be.Running office requires more than Obama’s likability factor.Can’t find a single substantive thing about him.Seems that every time you ask a supporter what exactly does he represent,you get the standard “he will unite the nation”,exactly HOW? Then write Deval Patrick and urge him to sue. Because so far, he not only says he has no problem with it, but he apparently urged Obama to use his words. They’re friends, you know, so apparently Obama had permission. Of course, you could write to Martin Luther King and urge that he sue Obama for plagiarism because I’m guessing he didn’t issue permission, but I doubt you’ll hear back.

Get a clue. This smacks of petty desperation on the part of the Clinton campaign. It’s pathetic, really.

Someone who uses a career Professor Babara Feinmann Todd as a writer and researcher in her BOOK “It takes a village” and yet refuses to either reference or acknowledge her has no business lecturing anybody how to reference a speech.
Its like Hillary accusing Obama of talking to Nuclear Energy Companies when she has taken more money from lobbyists than any politician in the history of America.

Barack Obama and Deval Patrick are buddies who work on speeches together - what’s the big deal ?
Its a sad situation when all the News bulletins lead on this non-story - yet the Media continually allows the Clinton Campaign continually get away with malicious smears, sleaze, corruption and not declaring Hillary’s Income Tax Returns. Hillary steals ideas and slogans whenever she can, adopts a bizarre Southern accent during speeches, bullies journalists and takes her lead from Mark Penn’s focus groups. The Clintons are out of ideas and have little left to offer except smears, backroom deals and the calling in of favours. It may have escaped people’s notice - but the old Clinton team from 92 is now running the campaign - Maggie Williams, Penn, Blumenthal, Ickes etc. Dirty tricks, Bill’s Uranium deal, taking money from Norman Hsu, pardoning Mark Rich, getting Ed Rendell to play the race card again in Pennsylvania, and underhand campaigning is what these people specialise in.
Their motto remains : win by any available means and to hell with decency, honesty and integrity.
Why doesn’t the Media make the Clinton Campaign release Hillary Clinton’s records of their 8 years in the White House ? What is she afraid of exposing ? What is she hiding from the voters ?

Hillary Clinton wants to change the rules of the game for Florida and Michigan. Clinton sees no shame in breaking her word not to campaign in Florida, and intends to back on her pledge to abide by the DNC’s ruling - and claim all of these delegates ( irrespective of whether Obama’s name was on the ballot or not, irrespective of no actual campaign ever being held in either State) .The Clintons are sheer opportunists and lack integrity. IF A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE REPEATEDLY BREAKS HER SOLEMN PROMISES - HOW CAN THIS PERSON BE TRUSTED WITH THE HIGHEST OFFICE IN THE WORLD ?

Instead of this rubbish she should be explaining why she failed to get Universal Healthcare Bill passed during their 8 years in the White House. She should be releasing her Income Tax Returns and stop hiding them. She should stop her staff from engaging in smears and negative campaigning. She should not allow her senior confidents to violate campaign law by setting up ‘ independent’ groups to pour millions into advertising her candidacy and to attack Obama.

Unfortunately - Hillary Clinton will continue with her low brow, nasty Campaign. They would still be playing the race card every day if there hadn’t been a backlash.
This is pattern by the Clinton smear machine - who can’t beat Obama on Optimism so they will go negative all the time.

We can expect much more of this crap from the Clintons and their sleazy Campaign.
Why doesn’t the Media hold these people to account on behalf of the public ?

About 8 years ago, I opened the house for a debate in our school, and I remember underscoring the power of the words in human history with same sort of refrain that Senator Obama did. Statements like “I have a dream”, or “the only thing you have to fear is the fear itself” etc. are iconic words and they are rooted into the unconcious of human society. Anyone who knows how to connect to a crowd or understands history, can easily tap into this sentiment about the power of words - just words. Its incrediblly naive or extravagantly distorting of Hillary Clinton to call it plagiarism.
Besides, she has no credibility after using statements like “all fired up”, and “ready to go” herself. “It takes a village” is yet another story.
In essence, it just shows her desperation, and the depths she can fall to score cheap political points. I had always supported Clinton camp, but what they are doing now just goes against the intelligence of American people - it insults the common man’s struggle to focus on the message of hope. Americans deserve better. Shame on you Hillary!

Now that is the kind of “change” that will make Obama’s America great and competitive.

Obama stated that the reason why he ran for President, so soon after being elected for the Senate, was because he was frustrated with the political process, and felt he could do more as the President. But when Hillary mirrored his belief about the role of the President, and getting things done with the Martin Luther King Jr. statement, he Obama abadoned the cause of “Change” and “Unity”, and he chose to use black and white people’s affection for Martin Luther King Jr. as a tool to manipulate them for his vote. Blacks relied on him for guidance on how to interprete the MLK jr. comment. The media was quick to jump on it, but did NO critical analysis of how Obama handled it…if it was a response becoming of a candidate running on the Platform of “Unity” and “Change”. I was okay if he won the nomination until that event.

That’s when I started looking about his criticisms of Hillary and the War. Why as a responsible State Legislator using his influence to protest the Iraq war, did HE not call Senators and inform them one by one of the intelligence “that was out there” that he criticized Hillary for not basing her vote on? Either he didn’t know about it, and hence not make it look like Hillary should have known about it and not demonize her, or, if he did know about it, as someone with the “passion” and “convictions” he supposively has, he did a poor job contacting Senators to inform them, contacting FOX, MSNBC, the NY Times, the Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune…etc. He is so clever an opportunist, and NO ONE, stops to think about if he was ANTI war, and didn’t know about “other intelligence”, and Bush’s intelligence was the only intelligence out there, what his position on the war implied—that he didn’t support Military Intervention on the Premise/Scenerio that Terrorist Training Camps were in Iraq and Supported by Saddam, he didn’t support Military Intervention to get inspectors into Iraq based on Yellow Cake Uranium being purchased by Iraq, and he certainly didn’t support Military Intervention of enforcing the restrictions place upon Iraq that it was believed they were violating for Invading Kuwait. Can’t anyone follow based on his Monday Morning Quarter Back criticisms that the man’s logic is lacking? Or that he is simply criticizing unfairly to spin people up? And the Media just follows along as the Pied Piper leads the rats into the lake.

IF he was the “Real Deal”, he would have responded more in the following way:

He SHOULD have responded to the MLK jr. statement, “We all need to calm down, this is a time to focus on coming together. We need to not allow ourselves to be distracted. Yes, Johnson had the Power of the Presidency to use influence on the smaller minds of Wasington on the time to get Civil Rights Laws passed, and Martin Luther King Jr. planted those seeds to appeal to those who could use reason to make the right choices, but it took both, great minds, reasonable minds, and people who believed in those ideas to convince others it was the right thing to do. What a power President one could be to embody both abilities, what “change” , we will accomplish”

I’m not saying Hillary’s a saint, but at least we have a lenghty voting record in the Senate, to see she will vote according to what Democrats value, AND not be bipartisan, which people complain time and time again when nothing gets done. We know what we’re getting with Hillary.

With Obama, IF he’s going to PLATFORM on UNITY and CHANGE, and HIGHER THINKING, and being above the typical politician, shouldn’t we at least expect that from him? When you have someone actually platforming on those ideals, to appeal to people who long for those ideals, but molests those ideals through what he says and does in such a clever way that no one even realizes, should we be suprised if his wife slips up…and yet again, no second thought goes into what really could lurk behind it?

I have so many other blaring obvious examples, but I will not be following the Pied Piper into the lake with all the other mindless rats who like the song, but do see the danger if this man has to deal with foreign nations that might critize him much harder than Hillary with regard to the Martin Luther King jr. statement.

Let’s take a closer look at who’s really qualified and or who’s really working for the good of all of us in the Senate. Obama or Clinton.

Records of these two candidates should be scrutinized in order to make an informed decision.

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term - 6yrs. - and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law - 20 - twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years.These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress http://www. , but to save you trouble, I’ll post them here for you.
1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
6. Name post office after Jonn A. O’Shea.
7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
11. Congratulate the Le Moyne Col lege Dolphins Men’s Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton’s bills are, more substantive. 16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11 18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.
19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

There you have it, the fact’s straight from the Senate Record.

Now, I would post those of Obama’s, but the list is too substantive, so I’ll mainly categorize.
During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced
233 regarding healthcare reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
112 crime fighting bills,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law, **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law, **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law, ;**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.
An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public.
He’s not just a talker.
He’s a doer.

In his 1996 memoir, “Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance,” Obama wrote candidly about his high school-era drug use: “Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though.” (ABC News, Jake Tapper, 12/13/2007). I work in a hospital treating drug users, the term “blow” is one that is more suited to an affectionate user of cocaine, not kids who are dabbling. When you were growing up, was it typical for kids to say they were going to get some “blow?”. “He said he had not tried heroin because he did not like the pusher who was trying to sell it to him (Katharine Q.Seelye, 10/25/2006, International Herald Tribune”. This sends up RED FLAGS for me because I can think of a lot better reasons not to try Heroin than because of “not liking a pusher”? Should we be a little more critical of Obama instead of assuming everything that comes out of his mouth is fact. Shouldn’t we question if he really did disclosure his drug history to it’s full extent, and if indeed it’s been 20 yrs since he used? The FBI does polygraphs to confirm the honest self reporting of drug use for potential agents, I think OBama should consent to one as well. I don’t believe in demonizing recovered drug users , but I don’t believe in blindly trusting them either, or that it makes them MORE qualified to be a President just because they talk about it. I don’t think we should put them in charge of the Nations security…not at least without a polygraph to confirm his history with drugs is indeed over, and when he reported it was over.

This is a slap in the face to any intelegent American. How many politician does anyone know that writes their own speaches? Not only that but how many speach writers has only one client? You just dont wake up and decide you are going to write a speach for the next President. At some point your work has to be tested like maybe a Govenor ect. I know I as well as most American tend to network within a certain circle of people. Seems logical to me that I would use a person that a friend has used in most cases. I know thats how I choose my dentist, auto repair person, schools, techers for my children and so on. Obama did what we all do he networked within his own circle.

Americans know that these candidates are not running their own campains they have hired people. The clintons made changes in their staff last week. I just wonder if Americans believe these people who left Hilary’s camp will ever work again, will they ever write, speak or share an opion. And if so will it be original?

The problem I have is that the clinton’s are playing dirty political games with the American public. They are pointing fingures at everyone else and not accepting responisbilty for their camps lack of planing and now the bus has left the station and they are not on it.

We as Americans are excited about the possibity for change for the better. Be it Republican or Demorcate. Americans want Hope for the future.

I until last week was going to vote for Clinton. I believe that we as a country want to see the first Woman President. However, do we really want a President that is the spouse of an impeached former President? She also has not made her tax returns public yet, not to mention that I can’t get a read on why is this woman is changing her message daily. I feel she should pick one stand and stick with it, So I like all Americans can get a read on her. I enjoyed the Clinton era like a great deal of Americans but the reality is he cant be President again.

Example: My husband is home sick, he has been an Engineer for over 22 years. I have helped him on many projects over the years. However, just because I have been around the environment he works in for many years and his staff knows me very well. I can not go to work for him today. And if he leaves his company I cant interview and expect to get the job based on the fact that I know him. I cant say that I have the experience just because I am the spouse of a prev. employee that happens to have held the position that I am itnerviewing for.

Seems to me that is what Former First Lady is selling. And yes I was going to buy it. Until she started talking and changed my mind.

The most I think we can hope for from Sen. Clinton right now is more of what we have had for the last 50 years. Leadership that we can not be hopeful about, that has their own agenda, and again will forget the very people that put them in offic.e

That fact that people are defending Mr. Obama is a testament to their own character. Rathan than reflect and say “Yes, Mr. Obama, is it is VERY EVIDENT that you took someone else’s words and made it seem like their own, which IS Plagiarism,” they are defending it, and actually bashing Hillary instead. This is Ridiculous, I mean, even if Hillary doesn’t get the nomination, I am not voting for a person, who along with his supporters, defends himself by knocking the messenger. Mr. Obama has youth in masses supporting his cause, and he basically said that is someone gives a speech there is more of a loophole of how ideas are expressed and whether or not credit should be given. Give me a break! I wanted to believe in Mr. Obama so much, and to some extent I do, but it is with the understanding that HE IS JUST A politician like everyone else, and that is something people have to realize.

MSNBC must have a Time-Delay when it comes to the latest news or, just news that is negative to Obama. Fox and CNN both had clips early this morning of Michelle Obama’s latest statement. She said, and this is completely verifiable, that this is the first time she’s ever been proud of America. I guess she’s never been proud of those who shed their Blood to make us free? Not proud of the Civil Rights Leaders like Dr. King, Al sharpton and Jesse Jackson who put it on the line to free African-Americans from oppression? Not proud of a higher learnig system that aided both he and Barack to go to college and graduate? No the only thing that makes her proud is for her to succeed.

Does anyone wonder why MSNBC failed to show this clip? What will be the excuse this time from the Obama campaigh of excuses? That’s what I meant? She means she’s proud of me? or what?

Good God, this is a pathetic move by Hillary Clinton. His campaign isn’t all about words; her “plan” that she put out on Monday was in response to the one that’s had posted on his site since the beginning of his campaign. She gives speeches, and has done little while in office (thanks for the great post Cheree!) and failed to pass her health care plans in the 1990s, so is hers all about words, too? I used to be be for Clinton, but her recent moves of trying to get the delegaes for Michigan and Florida, refusing to release her taxes and these idiotic and childish bits of negative campaiging in Wisconsin have completely turned me off. If she gets the nomination, I’m so voting for McCain. Otherwise, I’d vote for Obama.

You know, we all were moved by Ronald Reagan’s speech that he gave the night of the Challenger explosion. His speech writer, Peggy Noon, ended the speech with this paragraph:

The crew of the space shuttle Challenger honored us by the manner in which they lived their lives. We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved good-bye and “slipped the surly bonds of earth” to “touch the face of God.”

In writing the speech, speechwriter, Peggy Noonan, borrowed an image from John Gillespie Magee’s poem High Flight to explain the disaster:

“We will never forget them (the crew), nor the last time we saw them this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye, and slipped the surly bonds of earth, to touch the face of God.”

The poem begins: “Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth” — and ends “…I’ve…Put out my hand and touched the face of God.” This device is known as “allusion.” The point is to inject into your speech a poem or quote that most people in the audience will already be familiar with.

Reagan didn’t give any credit to Magee, and I don’t think he needed to. This is very common for political speech writers. It is the same way that Obama was clearly also using allusions here, one that he shares with his friend who originally used it.

I can’t belive that HRC thinks we are all so stupid!

Is this the kind of president we want? Not me.

I’m beginning to really dislike Hillary. First of all her campaign makes this sissy attack on his rhetorical skills and that his campaign is all about words.

I don’t get her experience argument to be honest. I understand she was the first lady in Arkansas and the White house, but other than the health care fiasco, we don’t know how involved she was, it’s word of mouth really. They have not allowed the release of transcripts during the Clinton years so we don’t have a record of hers to critique. During her seven years as a senator, I think she’s shown skill, but she voted for No Child left Behind, and the Iraq war, and I don’t particularly think she’s all that experienced. She has been in the public eye and no doubt is well known and knows a lot about the presidency, but she’s never been in this kind of position either, and frankly it shows in her campaign. She hasn’t run like a super-experienced politician but like Obama, someone feeling her way through the process, and he’s been more effective.

Than to argue, that he’s a better speaker than me but it doesn’t matter, words are cheap she said, it’s such a lame loser argument that tries to take away the importance of one of the most basic qualities a good president should have. Would we have loved JFK the way we do if he wasn’t a good orator? What about Reagan? It’s just BS and really desperate.

And then to give license to his story, where he used the same argument as Deval Patrick with powerful words, it’s not a paper, and he’s right to say that Deval Patrick is his national co-chair. I think he should have given him credit, but he gives so many rallies/speeches, give the guy a break, he’s come clean. To go after his image and for people to comment on things like, let’s see if he’s original otherwise and all is lame - he’s brilliant, has written two books, and writes most of his own speeches, and this is silly.

Also, for Hillary to get into the argument about the general election and whether Obama will abide by a suggestion to use public financing when she herself refused to do so sounds like the kind of thing a kid would argue. She’s not in the conversation, she herself hasn’t agreed to that pledge, and he never said he won’t, just that he wants to sit down and talk about it only after we wins the nomination. There may be some tactical strategy to that, not letting McCain know exactly how to plan his finances. She’s just desperate, and I really hope Americans are intelligent enough to see through this…

Hillary Clinton is a disgusting hypocrite. Her speeches are written by others, and she has stolen numerous catch phrases from Obama. Recently, she was even using the “Yes We Can” line as her own. Her book was ghostwritten, and she never gave credit to the author. Why does the media (particularly CNN) constantly fall for this pathetic excuse for a politician. Anyone who votes for a Clinton should be ashamed of themselves.

Who does not know I have a DREAM? Who does not know the common phrases that Obama used to respond to Hillary’s criticism.

If Obama was truly speaking from the heart during his support rallies he would not need to lift other people’s speeches in their entirety. This is making Obama supporters angry because, at bottom line, they subconsciously feel foolish for being duped into believing every word Obama speaks as if its from the messiah himself. They want to vent this anger by blaming Hillary Clinton and her supporters for Obama’s shortcomings as a presidential nominee.

Without his rhetoric Obama is nothing. With his rhetoric Obama is a plagiarist at best, a power hungry machiavellian charlatan at worst!!!!

However, this race is not about speeches its about policy and who is more likely to a better job as president for America.

Most Obama supporters cannot actually say what Obama’s policies are. They are dazzled by his constant rhetoric about “change” and “hope” without the faintest idea of how he plans to achieve all he promises to do.

However, for all you Obama supporters out there here is a sample of Obama’s policies from the man himself should he be elected:

Foreign Policy:

During a rally speech regarding homeland security, Obama advocated that America should “send surgical missile strikes into Iran”.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune newspaper, Obama let slip that he believes America should send troops to Pakistan to search for the Taliban without seeking permission from the Pakistani government first.

Remember, both of these comments regarding foreign policy came from Obama himself!!!

Not only does his view of bombing Iran contradict his purported stance against the Iraq war, but his views on invading Pakistan with troops to look for the Taliban without the permission of the Pakistani Government first breaches all levels of international law and would further destabalise the middle east.

People ask yourself this question before voting: Is this the kind of “change” America needs right now?

actually this is really going to be another sad thing when america votes for another president who shouldn’t be president and then blame HIM for it. obama is NOT ready, let’s face it, how long has he been in office like 3 years? he’s still a novice. and may someone please wiki these candidates. I think if you guys do your views about these candidates would change. its like getting a resume for them both but you’ll see that Hillary’s resume is full of experience and democratic changes for the people. I rather vote for someone that can actually do something for a change. You think Obama would actually do anything when he gets into office? he doesn’t even know where the white house bathrooms are? what about someone who knows how it was done and can do it again and better. And stop attacking Bill, I think america should be thankful that an Ex US president still cares about our nation and is willing to clean up Bush’s act one more time.

On a side note…can Michelle Obama be a good first lady? I don’t think we need another B. Bush, she sounds so snobby at interviews like she does not even want to be there? Like she, herself admitted…she was not even interested about politics and her husband running for office. i say Hillary all the way, america needs alot of help. and its like going to a doctor would you want someone with no experience to save you?

Let me start off by saying that I am an independent, having mostly voted republican my voting life and now I am 62, registering when I was first allowed to. I can’t remember if it was 18 or 21. But fair is fair. I think this is much ado about nothing. This is so, especially if the alleged first speaker was a supporter of his.

When I was in a protestant school in the ‘60’s studying for the ministry (before I became Catholic) I had a wonderful professor (I thought was old, until I made 62 years old) Dr. B. Frank Smith. I had just preached a sermon that basically came from a sermon book, by a prominent Baptist Minister. When I returned to class, I told Dr. Smith I felt guilty about. His comment to me, “When better sermons are written, I will preach them. That has stuck with me. Now he did not give “carte blance” to plagiarism. However, his comment was meant to imply that when one a message is put forth orally, it is hard to document it. Most public speakers do this and most times give credit. But sometimes they do not. I am not a lawyer, but a minister. So the fine point of the laws on plagiarism escape me. Nevertheless, I do know that common practice becomes the rule.
We all keep looking for policy specifics of policies. Let’s challenge them to go for those, not if he copies something, that puts forth his policies or beliefs.

What Obama represents: International respectability. He is the son of a woman born in Kentucky and a man from Kenya. He spent the formative years of his life living in Hawaii, then his teenage years in Indonesia. INDO FREAKING NESIA. When he came back to the states, he had to work to get where he wanted to go, and he did that by working with the community. And he has done some great work within Illinois.

Now, maybe that doesn’t do it for you, but that speaks volumes for me. I want a president who doesn’t say the same things that all the presidents before them have said. I don’t care if he compromises his values when he gets to office. I want someone who has values to compromise.

What does John McCain represent for real at this point aside of blowing the Hell out of the middle east? He’s back and forth on immigration and gay rights and Christians. How can you trust him?

Hillary won’t admit she made a mistake on Iraq.

Obama hasn’t compromised yet and to me, that is a good start. If your choice is fundamentally the same (clinton/obama) why not go for the fruit that looks a little less rotten?

SPITZER ‘CRACK TAX’ PROTECTS DRUGGIES

January 24, 2008 — ALBANY - Dealers and users who pay a proposed state levy on illicit drugs - dubbed the “crack tax” by critics - would not be turned over to police by tax officials under a plan being pushed by Gov. Spitzer.
Spitzer, in his 2008-09 budget proposal unveiled Tuesday, said he wants to create a tax stamp for illegal drugs, similar to such stamps used for cigarettes, which he says would raise $13 million in the coming fiscal year and $17 million annually after that.
According to a memo explaining the eyebrow-raising proposal, “The bill contains a unique and strict secrecy requirement, preserving the confidentiality of any information obtained from a dealer.”
Disclosure of the information in some cases would be allowed for a criminal or civil proceeding involving taxes.
But “the bill specifically provides that none of the information may be used against the dealer in any criminal proceeding [other than a tax crime] unless it has been obtained independently,” the memo said.
Dubbing it the “crack tax,” state Sen. Martin Golden, a Brooklyn Republican and former city cop, called Spitzer’s plan “another pie-in-the-sky idea that really has no legitimacy, and hopefully is not a first step toward legalizing drugs.”
The plan, modeled after one in North Carolina, would require arrested drug dealers or users to purchase different tax stamps from the state.
“Upon receipt of the product, the dealer must affix enough stamps to the packages of marihuana [as it's spelled in official state legislative documents] or the controlled substance in order to show the tax has been fully paid,” according to the proposal.
A tax stamp for marijuana would cost $3.50 per gram, while one for a controlled substance, “whether pure or dilute[d],” would be $200 per gram.
Experience in other states shows that stamp collectors, not drug dealers, are the ones purchasing the tax stamps.
The taxes and any applicable fines and penalties in those states are typically collected after a person is charged and their drugs seized by police.
Spitzer aides said they realize it’s highly unlikely any drug dealers would come forward to purchase tax stamps.
That is why, they say, the governor’s proposal requires “prompt notification” of the tax commissioner by law-enforcement agencies and DAs “who obtain any information that indicates that a dealer has failed to pay the tax due.”

The fact HRC is a hypocrit, does not change the validity of her point.
One fraud exposing another fraud does not make the behavior acceptable, or excusable.

HRC has a valid point. Obama’s candidacy is about “just words.” He acknowledges practically that when he made the issue that “his” words were powerful. However, they are not his words. They are not even his speech writers words. Barac has shown himself to be a good orator and copy cat. A talking head, whose insides have yet to be demonstrated.

The fact Obama doesn’t think it is a big deal, shows me that he believes whatever he does is above question. Even when his wife claims that for the first time in 25 years, she is proud of the USA, he thinks it is no big deal.
