Some McCain support from the right
Former Mitt Romney supporter Hugh Hewitt at Townhall.com seems to be getting impatient with some of his colleagues on the right and their reluctance to get behind John McCain, calling on them to support the Arizona Senator, “now.” The issue Hewitt believes they can all agree on—the war on terror. Excerpt below:
I don’t think any serious conservative can compare Senator McCain to either Senator Clinton or Senator Barack and say the war would be in better hands with either of the Democrats. In fact, any supporter of victory has to shudder at the prospect of turning the American military over to either of those two as this conflict rages.
I am replaying my President’s Day show today, an extended interview with Richard Norton Smith where we march through all 43 of the presidents (some get a lot more time than others.) I hope you listen throughout with the choice ahead of the country fixed firmly in your mind. The conservatives who wanted someone else have to get over it, quickly. This isn’t 1992 or 1996 (and 1992 and 1996 weren’t really the time of peace they appeared to be.)
The U.S. isn’t guaranteed the ability to recover from four years of disasters in the war. The war’s got to be conducted by a president committed to victory, and that means supporting McCain. Now.

You know…as I read these blogs everyone is so uptight. Let’s lighten the mood just a bit.
How many Democrats does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Just one but boy does it get screwed.
What’s are the two main differences between the UK and the USA?
#1 When the UK holds a sports world championship the actually invite other nations and #2 when they pay homage to their leaders they only go down on one knee.
A chicken and an egg are laying in bed. The chicken has a big smile on his face, is leaning back against the headboard, relaxed and smoking a cigarette. The egg beside him furiously grabs the sheets rolls over and says “well I guess we settled THAT little debate”
Ok back to your regularly scheduled arguments.
The current election dynamic illustrates the influence exerted by the media to control our nation. I am disgusted by the media’s corronaton of candidates. Why has McCain been selected as the only conservative choice? I don’t care whether the corporate news networks tell me Huckabee cannot win. How many will join me to vote for the best man, giving no consideration for this media circus? I hope enough of you agree with me to make the difference.
McCain is not a conservative choice. McCain is a “Hold your nose and vote” choice.
I think i’ll choose Huckabee.
McCain is clearly not the right man and neither is Huckabee! I am sitting this one out! Don’t care - just fed up!
MITT ROMNEY far and above was theTOP choice in fiscal & social conservative by how he lived his life and governned in Massachusetts. Would be thrilled if he got the VP slot!!!!! He and Fred Thompson appeared to be in it to save the country from going further down in the gutter, economically, culturally and knew the need to protect us from radical Islam.
Huckabee is the man for the job. Fair Tax, pro life & marriage, border security, national security — he’s got it all, and he’s got it all right. Get ready for the next Huckaboom!
MITT ROMNEY FOR VP!!!! Obama & Hillary - - terrorists must be laughing hysterically and cheering for them. Here’s chit chat Obama with terrorists “will you submit to Allah? do you want to die today or tomorrow?? Here’s another scenario, Osama will be shaking hands with Obama & cutting his head off with the other hand…….there’s negotiation. Idiots.
Re - other Fly-Over-State and glad for it……flakes can keep on flying over PLEEEASE!!! Early in the election, had hoped for a Romney/Huckabee ticket……even thought it may be a possibility still if McCain didn’t get up to 1191. However, will vote for McCain & hope we get a good consolation for VP that will help other conservatives out to vote. All Republicans had good traits, ideas, smart & seem to be good men. However, as I said in looking at the selections for over 6 months, seeing candidates in different settings, family is important, was VERY impressed with MITT ROMNEY. It shouldn’t be a factor perhaps, but these people with multiple marriages…..gotta wonder about their character. Although look at Hill & Bill married for all those years, but a TOTAL SHAM. Even their hugs & kisses appear like bad acting, staged (like Sleazywood crowd that backs them……
People that sit out and note vote…….alternative will be disaster in immigration, possible gay marriage and high taxes. PLEASE VOTE & PUT PRESSURE ON McCAIN.
McCain, better sign the ‘Contract with Conservatives’ or he will not be elected. Most conservatives will vote but not for him, some will pass and others will ‘write in’ someone else which will split the vote and elect ‘Obama’. Empty Rhetoric Man! Conservatives will go to the poles and will vote to hold true conservatives in the House and Senate in the hopes that they will block the damage that ‘Socialist Obama’ will try to get pushed. If we don’t hold back the Amnesty bill that is sure to come from any one that is elected this year, Republicans can kiss the Republican party goodbye.
I would consider the washed-up old retread if the traitor would sign a NO AMNESTY pledge, but the sellout politician cares more about illegals than AMERICANS!
McShamnesty won’t sign the pledge! TRAITOR! FLUSH THE JOHN-2008!!!
Exactly. Everyone who hasn’t voted…Mike Huckabee gives Republicans the best chance to beat Barack Obama in November. Obama in the white house during this time of war is my biggest fear. Mike Huckabee is the only one that has the personality and communication skills to go head to head and beat Obama.
It seems that the voters in Wisconisn are realizing this and it is very encouraging.

Hey,
Did you guys hear that CNN quietly cancelled the Feb. 28th GOP debate in Ohio? They don’t care at all that there are still 3 men running and no one has the nomination locked up. It would be wise, I think, if Fox News decided to “save the day,” by proving that all votes matter, and scheduling the debate that CNN has cancelled. It would also be good if this debate was handled with 2 minute limits that are adhered to.
Just thought you would like to know!
What a pity we have only Tweedledee , Tweedledum and Tweedledummer to choose from. I have to hold my nose to vote, but hold my nose I will. A vote for McCain is a vote for conservative judges and the chance to end the war reasonably.
Romney for VP. Hmmm, part of me says he should stay away and not risk being involved with the next administration, part of me would love to have him any way we can get him.
Here’s hoping Romney will run again in 2012 and we can have a President we can be proud of!
Mitt Romney 2012
Tea
There’s an online petition circulating with over 6,000 names so far to have another republican debate. Check it out.

Tea,
That’s great.
How did you find out about the FOX debate? Will it be on Feb. 28th also?
There’s also a petition to sign & maybe we can get the other networks to pay attention also.
Many feel these debate needs to be aired & we are signing a petition. Remember any of the delegates that does not belong to McCain are free to vote the way they want at the convention. McCain can still be beat.
You’ll find the petition @

Romney couldn’t buy the nomination now and he won’t be able to in 2012.
Also, about Huckabee, I think the guy is basically likable, even though he is a bit of a bigot. The problem is that he is just not electable. His appeal is just not broad enough. He has most (not all)evangelicals sewn up but the rest don’t want a pastor in chief. Just not going to happen.
TONY, how many of the presidential candidates are willing to give ALL of their salary to charity. Do you know how much of the 800,000+ salary Romney kept when fixing the Olympics mess? NONE!!! It all went to charity plus he gave 1 mil. of his own money to the Olympics. He is a class act. No one else can touch him. It is not about money.
Obama Camp Planting “Fainting Ladies” At His Rallys?
AT six ( so far) different Obama Rallies so far…..there has been a woman front and center of the stage who passes out, and Obama goes into his give-her-some room-here’s-some-water-act.
It’s amazing that all these women are right in front.

Huckabee was relatively unknown of before this election. Frankly, I never heard of him before this year. Romney, McCain, Thompson these are all household names. After studying each of these candidates’ positions on all the issues I’ve come to feel that Huckabee is the best one to represent the true conservatives. Once people look past the smear campaign and really look at his record I think that in 2012 Huckabee will be a force to contend with.
Hillplus
In all practicallity, $800,000 is a drop in the bucket when you’re worth hundreds of millions
TONY, did you know that when Romney’s sons were younger, they had NO IDEA they were so wealthy. Their dad taught then to work. Many Saturday’s three to four hours were spent working, dad and kids. Did you know that Romney shut down his whole company and flew everyone to N.Y. to look for a 14 year old runaway daughter of an employee? They saved her life, she was close to death. It’s not about money.
Tell me, who else is doing it? He is fortunate to be paid well for what he does. Should we condemn him for it? He is very philanthropic with his money. It is not about money and he knows it! He is a class act.
Hillplus
I would like to think that you and I would do the same thing if we had the money too. I think Huckabee and several of the other candatates would also.
Hillplus
I believe Mr. Romney may be a good man. Just not the right man for the presidency, in my humble opinion.
TONY,
I would like to have the confidence in them that you do. Maybe they would.
I do know that Mitt Romney is the smartest and most successful candidate, (both privately and publicly.) The more that I learn about him, the more that I am in awe. He is pro family, pro country and pro God. That is important to me. The rest, well, we can agree to disagree. I mostly wanted to protest your statement that Romney is trying to buy the candidacy. I believe he loves our Country. HE walks the walk.
TONY
He is certainly the most qualified to fix our economy, and to win the war we NEED to have a strong economy to fund it.
Hillplus
And I resented the tweedledee comment. Well, at least we agree to disagree. I respect your opinion because it is genuine and heartfelt even if it is misguided (just a joke). Let’s just pray that whoever wins the election they continue to keep this country great and on the right path. May God bless you.
TONY
I enjoyed our conversation, and hope that if we are fortunate enough to get a second shot at Romney you will take a second look at him.
If you are willing to cross the anti-Mormon picket line that is.
APOLOGIES for the tweedledee comment, it was mean spirited.
What Hugh is not saying is that Mike Huckabee has a more comprehensive plan for Iraq than even McCain, that Huckabee would b tougher on terrorists, and prioritize the protection of Israel.
What’s more, Mike Huckabee could beat Barack in a debate, do more and go farther for the same dollar and bring conservatives AND moderates and win in November.
McCain will lose to Barack and 100% of polls since Super Tuesday show it.
Mike Huckabee has earned my vote because he is the best, most qualified and most trustworthy candidate in the race.
Vote for Mike Huckabee if care about conservative values.
Hillplus
It is possible for mormons and baptists to get along. We’re examples of that. Maybe our conversation will change some of the bigotry demonstrated by both sides on these blogs and make us all realize that we are all children of God and that we are all patriotic Americans. Fare well friend in these difficult times. May we meet up again sometime on another blog.
TONY,
what makes you think I’m a Mormon?
I got most of my info about Mitt on evangelicalsformitt.com
Every endorsement further enrages my feeling that “they” (The Establishment) are trying to make my mind up for me…
Support DEMOCRACY…
http://www.petitiononline.com/jkb1961/petition.html
Whether you support McCain or not there should still be a debate if nothing else for the sake of reconciliation. North Carolina has not even held their primary yet and they are telling us it’s over? We have no voice? TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION IS GROUNDS FOR REVOLT AS I RECALL…
This whole process has been hijacked from the start.
IT’S NOT OVER IF IT’s BROKERED !!!
I wonder how a Huckabee/Romney ticket would do?
I wonder how a Huckabee/Romney ticket would do? At least it would show true concilliatory merit… while the McCain/Romney would be more like posturing for appeal…
Mike Huckabee- President
Mitt Romney- Vice-President
John McCain- Secretary of Defense
Ron Paul- Secretary of Health and Human Services
Rudy Guillani- Secretary of Homeland Security
Fred Thompson- Attorney General
Go Huckabee 2008!
THanks to all of you for your support of the ONLY choice for POTUS #44 -Mike Huckabee. If you’re undecided out there check out the huckabee website on issues. Hey Anita - I always thought that those guys when they were on the platform debating would be a great cabinet for Gov. Huckabee.
GO MIKE!
This is a very interesting post about Huckabee.

It talks about how McCain was instrumental in making legislation to force the peaceful Navajo people off their land to make it accessible for mining by a company called Peabody Mining, so they could steal their coal. Then, he and others in the deal paid to have it suppressed by the media. After I read the first article, I wanted to check it out, so I did a search and came up with Multitudes of reports about this event, and the hardships that it forced on these agrarian people
I would have voted Romney too and from what I’ve heard locally he would have taken WI.
So, off to vote in this -18 degree chill factor for McCain.
I see those “tolerant” libs are still fighting on the other articles postings.
Why is Washington and the Republican machine trying to dictate the “voice” of the people. This is NOT Cuba. We have a free press (ha ha) and the right to vote (ha ha). I say ha ha because the big wigs want to tell us what to do with our votes. I say let the people speak and quit trying to SWAY us. For instance, now the Ohio debate is off between Huckabee and McCain. Why? If Romney were still in it, I can GUARANTEE that that debate would still be on. That is called CONTROL!!!! It is very frustrating and hard to fight but Huckabee’s supporters are giving it their best shot to say to all of you: Quit using us!!! Try listening to us!!! We care about life, and we care about a culture that is not one of death, violence, and sex.
The only way I will vote for McCain is if Romney is his VP choice AND Romney accepts. Otherwise I will write in Mickey Mouse for my Presidential vote.
A vote for McCain is a vote for the same ol same ol. No thank you. I want change, not the same bs weve had for “conservatives” the last 8 years.
The fact is, Huckabee is not electable, period! The country as a whole is moving to a more moderate place and coupled with the negative Bush (viewed by many as too religious) feelings, Huckabee would not get the Presidency. He is a good speaker, very comical and it is easy to listen to him, but the media and democratic controlled congress would chew him up and spit him out.
For those of you that call your selves Republicans, it is time to grow up, stop acting like 2nd graders and rally behind McCain. Sitting it out will only enable the democrats to win. They are voting in much larger numbers this year and we will need EVERY republican vote to win in November.
Not voting will lead to a Socialist Society with damage felt for generations to come.
Fear mongering. Unless you vote for McCain, the world as we know it will be destroyed!
Paraphrased: “We don’t allow no uppity-ness ‘roun heah! Now tote ‘dat ballot to the ballot box, boy! Don’t wanna heah no mo.’”
Why accept the partisan whipping? Why continue to enable the abuse of the unfaithful husband?
Get out of line; leave the plantation. Liberty beckons.
Vote the Constitution Party. http://www.constitutionparty.com
Jim and Texas… To sit it out and not vote or to throw away your vote on Huckabee, which would accomplish absolutely nothing - will destroy us in the end. Sometimes we have to think of our country before our pride as Romney did. He showed a great deal of integrity when he stepped down for the sake of the strength of our party. It was not easy I’m sure, and he was way ahead of Huckabee at the time. Romney shows his intelligence and foresight in his decisions. I don’t like the alternatives, but I agree with Romney in that we can’t afford to let the Democrats run over us in the election.
If Huckabee did love his country and it’s not just a matter of getting a high off of ‘watching himself’ ….. he would do the honorable thing and show he is a man of character like Romney and step down and throw his votes to McCain. Huckabee seems to not care that he is doing more damage at this point then good.
McCain is the frontrunner and we must all unite our party behind him. Any ‘adjustments’ can be made four years from now. For minimal damage … please vote McCain - for our country’s sake.
For the sake of our country … don’t sit this election out or throw your vote away on someone who already knows he has no chance to win and is doing damage by splitting our party.
McCain / Romney ‘08
Gwen,
It’s time for the Republican elite establishment to stop TREATING us like 2nd graders.
Liberty didn’t die in America, and all of a sudden Republican elite party insiders automatically inherited an aristocracy of a Senate full of Lords and Ladies.
2nd graders generally have no choice because they have little experience, know little of the ways of the world, and cannot compete or defend themselves against abusive adults who use them. But I am a grown man…I AM A MAN!
And I’m on strike from that garbage truck detail until I see some results for my labors, and respect for my beliefs, genuine respect.
Your elitist Republican Party has crushed up the bodies of Conservatives in the Dempsey dumpster with a compacter out back, these the worthwhile conservatives your elitist party would not allow inside the building from out in the rain.
Your establishment Republican Party is not entitled. It cannot command. It cannot demand loyalty now from the conservatives that your elitists refused to allow shelter to, much less show any respect for, or even basic human decency to.
Just like in Memphis. Nothing changed until the garbagemen refused to take it any more. So too, this time.
Conservatives, nothing will change if you go back into that line and “tote ‘dat ballot to the ballot box” for the “man” that abused you, and crushed up the body of Conservatism like it were just so much trash. My principles are NOT trash.
Rise up! Vote the Constitution Party. http://www.constitutionparty.com
THE WORST OF THIS KIND OF DAY IS YET TO COME.
OLLIE NORTH HAS THE RIGHT OF IT:
I, “QOUTE’’ Ollie North:
Washington, D.C. — When the Washington, D.C. City Council enacted the toughest gun-control law in the nation in 1976, the city fathers — according to what they said at the time — believed they were making our nation’s capital a safer place. The measure failed miserably.
Since passage, the murder rate in the District has skyrocketed by more than 200 percent. Now, the U.S. Supreme Court has a chance to both make our capital safer — and ensure that the Second Amendment to our Constitution is enshrined as an individual right for every law-abiding American.
No matter how well intentioned, the D.C. firearms statute has been unfathomable from the start. On its face, the law bans handguns and requires rifles and shotguns to be registered, stored unloaded and either locked or disassembled. While it allows business owners to use a firearm to protect their cash registers at their stores, they cannot use that same firearm to protect themselves and their families in their homes. Individuals who protect federal officials and property in the District with firearms are not permitted to provide similar protection for themselves and their families in their own domiciles.
In fact, the case that the Supreme Court will hear, District of Columbia v. Heller, was brought by Mr. Dick Heller, a security guard. In carrying out his duties, Mr. Heller carries a handgun on Federal property. However, when he sought to register the same weapon to safeguard his home, he was denied. Mr. Heller says the D.C. law has it backwards. “I can protect [federal workers], but at the end of the day they say, ‘turn in your gun, you can’t protect your home.’” Mr. Heller maintains that disassembled rifles and shotguns are no substitute for handguns, “any more than the government could prohibit books because it permits newspapers and considers them an ‘adequate substitute.’”
Last March, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed, 2-1, that the District’s prohibition was not only unreasonable, it was clearly unconstitutional. Attorneys for the District of Columbia promptly appealed the decision. That is why on March 18, for the first time since 1939, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on whether such a gun ban for law-abiding citizens is constitutional. Their verdict, expected later this year, will have profound implications for all Americans.
The case has generated a flurry of unprecedented action in both the Executive and Legislative branches of government. On January 11, the Department of Justice (DOJ), filed an egregiously weak amicus — friend of the court — brief in the case. The argument, submitted by U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement, essentially urges the Supremes to waffle on the issue and send the case back to the lower courts.
The DOJ softball didn’t sit well with U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX). On February 8, she filed an amicus brief on behalf of Mr. Heller and the exercise of his individual rights under the Second Amendment: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the People to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
In her lucid and detailed exposition, Sen. Hutchison accurately points out that the Framers never intended that the word “militia” meant that the right to keep and bear arms was some kind of “collective” right that applied only to a particular group. If that had been their purpose, they would have been satisfied with Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution that gives Congress the power “to provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions.”
To ensure that that firearms possession was recognized by posterity as an “individual right,” the Framers included it as part of the Bill of Rights — an enumeration of every citizen’s personal entitlements: free speech, freedom of religion and a fair trial. The precise location of those famous words — “the right to keep and bear arms” — provides strong evidence for the Founders’ vision.
To foreclose any doubt where Congress comes down on the issue, Sen. Hutchison has introduced a bill to repeal the District of Columbia’s ban on handguns; repeal registration requirements; and restore the ability of law-abiding citizens to keep a loaded, operable firearm in their homes. Doing less denies the meaning of the words “shall not be abridged.”
Her argument was so persuasive that 54 additional senators and 250 members of the House of Representatives — including 68 Democrats — signed on. Vice President Dick Cheney — apparently at odds with the administration’s DOJ did so as well. Hopefully the Supreme Court will agree with these enlightened members of Congress — and Abraham Lincoln who said, “Don’t interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.”

Terri,
“Any ‘adjustments’ can be made four years from now.”
Adjustments?
What you really mean is for us to compromise our principles, once again. And once again, believe in the “promise” of an abusive wife beater and adulterer.
And four years from now? Your party elite will come back again, and again use the same old fear mongering and again offer nothing, and again make their demands that we take that garbage.
Your elite Republican establishment insiders have committed infidelities so many times before, have beaten the faithful rank and file so much that even the emergency ward knows the vitals without even asking any more.
Adjustments?
No. YOU make the adjustments, and right NOW in that front office. You will allow the garbagemen inside that building out of the weather, and you will treat us as equals or you can take take up gargae and stuff it.
No more squashed up Conservatives, mangled beyond recognition in the Dempsey dumpsters out back. No more adjustments. No more compromise.
Make the stand here. Draw the line now. Rise up!
Vote the Constitution Party.
Terri,
“Any ‘adjustments’ can be made four years from now.” What?
Adjustments?
What you really mean is for us to compromise our principles, once again. And once again, believe in the “promise” of an abusive wife beater and adulterer. Believe in Boss Hogg’s empty promises, one more time.
And four years from now?…Your party elite will come back again, and again use the same old fear mongering, and again offer nothing, and again make their demands that we take their garbage. It is predictable. It is cyclical.
Your elite Republican establishment insiders have committed infidelities so many times before to the Republican base, have beaten the faithful rank and file so much that even the emergency ward knows the vitals now without even asking any more.
Adjustments?
No. YOU make the adjustments, and right NOW in that front office. You will allow those of us your elites treat like garbage men inside that building out of the weather, and you will treat us as equals. Or you can take that garbage of yours and stuff it.
No more squashed up Conservatives mangled beyond recognition in the Dempsey dumpsters out back. No more adjustments. No more compromise. I ain’t listening to your fear mongering anymore. There isn’t any difference between your plantation and the Democratic one. The both of you chain freedom and sell liberty away…as if it were yours to “adjust”.
Make the stand here. Draw the line now. Rise up!
Vote the Constitution Party.
I am one of the conservative voters you are talking about. I value my vote…it is the only “voice” I have of any influence on those who are in power. Those same people who weild that power in ways totally contrary and against every value and belief I hold dear. I will not vote for anyone with the word “Senator” in front of their name as I believe the Senate has sold us down the river…literally…on the immigration issue. BOTH parties want the “illegal” alien “vote” and are bending over backwards to curry favor with that block…well, they can have them. NOT ME…if Mike Huckabee is not on the ballot for president, I will write it in as that is the only person I can vote for in good conscience. Whoever is elected….so be it. Personally, I don’t think the President has that much power anyway. McCain is not the candidate that I will support. And I am voting. Thank you for an opportunity to express my opinion.
The DNC and a lot of others are afraid of someone like Mike Huckabee… He cuts right through the fakeness and political correctness that plagues American politics and exposes it. Yes Mike Huckabee is not perfect, but I believe he’s better than the alternatives. His Christian faith is a huge asset; like it or not. Christianity is the foundation that this country was built on. This country has been focused on promoting Christian characteristics like promoting Truth, promoting Justice, promoting Respect For our Fellow Human Beings. Also, Christianity promotes Grace which this country has had to fall on in times of hard self-evaluation and change. Also, Grace that says one cannot force Christianity on anyone. I believe Huckabee is not trying to force anything just trying to uphold a strong asset this country has. The twisting and ingnoring of Christianity only makes things worse.
These are the characteristics that keep this country strong and have influenced free countries around the world.
Cathy S,
While a write-in vote is a protest vote, and as such it has its merits over automatic “big box” partisan genuflection at the polling stations, I would urge you, rather, to consider voting with the Constitution Party.
Check out their website, http://www.constitutionparty.com
Read their stated principles, platform, beliefs, and the political commentaries.
If you agree with the Constitution Party’s expressed mission statement, with their platform and policies, then I would encourage you to consider casting a ballot FOR the Constitution Party in November instead of a protest vote AGAINST the existing Republican establishment.
Kansas City 23-26 April 2008 is the Constitution Party convention. We will have our say.
Let us repeal the “progressive” destructive manipulation of the structure of the Constitution, and return this government under its control.
A right that is not exercised is a right that is lost. My right, and every citizen’s right, is to have a government that is controlled by the Constitution, and nothing else. Anything else is illegitimate.
I further have been given the absolute assurance, under the full weight of the law, that all things not expressly proscribed by that Constitution, belong with the separate States and with the people.
It is high past time, to take back from the Federalists the powers that they have usurped.
Vote Constitution Party.
MORE AND MORE FROM THE FAR LEFT, ABRIDGED SECOND AMMENDMENT RIGHT’S?
WHET HAPPENED TO”SHALL NOT BE ABRIDGED” ???
SO, WITHOUT THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS, WHERE DO YOU GO FOR HELP, AFTER THAT FACT?
IF YOU ARE BEING ATTACKED? AND THE RIGHT TO SELF DEFENSE? WHEREVER, YOU ARE.
THE BILL OF RIGHTS APPLIES. NOT THE STATE OF OF THE CONSTITUTION, OR THE CITY PLANNING COMMISION.
THE BILL OF RIGHTA IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR LIBERTY, AND WITHOUT IT, THERE IS ANARCHY AND THE
CRIMINALS “WHO DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR LAWS” WIN! AND THE LAW ABIDING CITIZEN LOSE THEIR LIVES,

QOUTE:
CHICAGO — Illinois lawmakers moved swiftly after last year’s massacre at Virginia Tech to make it harder for anyone with a history of mental illness to buy guns, fortifying what were already some of the nation’s toughest weapons laws.
But the new measure does not take effect until June. And whether it would have prevented last week’s bloodbath at Northern Illinois University is far from clear.
Steven Kazmierczak, the 27-year-old grad student who bought an arsenal of guns in recent months and used them to kill five people and commit suicide, had been on medication and was said to have spent time in a psychiatric center as a teen in the late 1990s.
But state Sen. Dan Kotowski, a sponsor of the law that will require more detailed reporting to state officials about those who have received mental health treatment, said the sketchy information about Kazmierczak’s medical history makes it impossible to know whether he would have fallen under the law.
“This law is more comprehensive than most,” the Democrat said Monday. “But everything needs to be evaluated and reviewed to address the problem so that something like this never happens again. This is the promise we have to make.”
The measure, when it takes effect, will require health professionals to inform state authorities about patients who display violent, suicidal or threatening behavior. Right now, such information is reported to state officials only on people who have been institutionalized, not on those who receive only outpatient treatment.
Illinois adopted the law last June, and the governor signed it in August.
Last month, President George W. Bush signed federal legislation requiring states to provide the mental-health information they gather for use in a national background-check system.
Virginia lawmakers, meanwhile, are still considering a package of bills to change that state’s mental health system after the Virginia Tech tragedy. One bill would enshrine into law an order by Gov. Timothy M. Kaine that requires names of people ordered into outpatient treatment to also be reported to state authorities.
The proposals are attempts to alter a mental health system that came under increased scrutiny since a mentally disturbed student, Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and himself at Virginia Tech in April.
Unlike Cho, Kazmierczak showed few outward signs of trouble. He passed repeated criminal background checks and had a state firearm owner’s identification card, which requires applicants to answer a series questions, including whether they have been in a mental hospital in the preceding five years. Authorities say they verify what the applicants put down.
Kazmierczak bought four guns at Tony’s Guns and Ammo in Champaign. He bought a High Point .380 pistol on Aug. 6, a Sig Sauer 9 mm pistol on Dec. 30, and a Remington 870 shotgun and Glock 9 mm pistol on Feb. 9, authorities have said.
A former employee at a Chicago psychiatric treatment center said last week that Kazmierczak was placed there after high school by his parents. She said he used to cut himself and had resisted taking medications. And Kazmierczak’s girlfriend, Jessica Baty, told CNN on Sunday that he had been on an antidepressant but had stopped taking it about three weeks ago because “it made him feel like a zombie.”
But even under Illinois’ new law, it’s not clear whether Kazmierczak said or did anything that would have triggered the reporting requirement and made him ineligible to buy guns.
Some argue the more stringent reporting rules could make it even harder to identify people who might be about to snap.
Gary Slutkin of the Chicago Project for Violence Prevention at the University of Illinois said the rules could have the unintended consequences of discouraging people from seeking help out of fear of being reported. He said that might be especially likely to happen in the case of someone fantasizing about going on a killing spree.
Health workers may also find themselves torn over confidentiality issues, while relatives of someone who confides in them about serious mental health problems may also fear the consequences of taking action outside the family, Slutkin added.
“They may ask, ‘What’s left? Is there anyone I can call now who is not part of the punitive system?’” he said.
Pro-gun forces also expressed skepticism that such laws could stop someone like Kazmierczak.
John Boch, like many other gun-rights activists in Illinois, said the answer is for the state to loosen its gun laws, not tighten them, so that students might have shot back during the NIU attack. Illinois is one of only two states with an outright ban on carrying concealed weapons. Wisconsin is the other.
“This guy at NIU committed murder, for God’s sake,” Boch said. “What are a few more gun laws going to do to protect human life? There are a lot of laws he violated in killing those kids, but one more law won’t make a difference to guys like that.”

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
BACK TO BASICS, FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT TO BE FREE FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND THE CRIMINAL’S.
WRITE AND CALL, YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE, CONGRESSMAN AND SENATOR, REMEMBER THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT US.
THAT IS THEIR JOB, NOT TO: COMMIT FELONIOUS ASSAULT ON THE WHOLE OF THE [PEOPLE] BY THE RESTRUCTURING AND, RESTRICTIONS OF OUR CIVIL LIBERTIES AND RIGHTS TO SELF DEFENSE.
Anyone who votes for that turncoat McCain, should be taken out and shot.
@ Tex
Just shut up!
I’m going to vote for who I think will best serve as President, and that person in my opinion is John McCain.
I like and agree with the Constitution Party platform. BUT, they do not have a candidate! They do not have a spokesman.
Mike Huckabee is the ONLY voice for conservatives (and a Huckabee/Paul ticket would be worth considering).
I will not “waste” my vote on a RINO. The Republican leadership/elites are the ones responsible for the death of the Republican party. They are the ones that have ignored the base, and refused to compromise. They are the ones that are responsible if the Democrat liberals win - not us who are remaining true to our values and the Republican platform as it is written.
It does not matter whether McCain (the media chosen nominee) or the Democrats win. Either would be a loss for America, and I will not a party to it. (pun intended)
I have been a registered republican sinc 1970 and a conservative. I’ve lived in Arizona since 1982. I haven’t decided how I will vote except I will not vote for Sen. McCain. As far as I’m concerned my only choices are not to vote or a write in. I will one of the two.
I would rather have my contries fate be in the hands of McCain than a Clinton. I do not approve of all of the things McCain stands for, but there will never be a president everyone likes. If it were in my power to do so, I would make one of those outrageous comments about me leaving the country if Clinton or Obama, either one, get elected, to leave the country until the end of the term. However, since that is out of my hands, I can only pray McCain wins.
I don’t like McCain either but I will hold my nose and vote for him. I’m listening to ‘Obamanation’ give his ‘I won again’ speech for Wisconsin and he scares me. Don’t worry, I am not so close to the TV so that I might faint. Hee! Seriously, I do not get why people think he is such a great speaker. This mania is cause by the liberal media. This election is definitely going to be decided by the blacks and latinos, along with a lot of easily duped young people who don’t have enough wisdom to even bother to check out what he believes in. They just see the ‘Rock Star’. I can barely stand John McCain but my fear of ‘Obama’ is stronger. The best thing we can hope for is for McCain to sign the ‘Contract with Conservatives’ and possibly squeak out a win. If an amnesty is passed for these 12+ million illegal aliens then the Republican party is hosed for good. Better start hiding your money in you mattress too!
For us so called Republicans that will sit this one out, I say good. Let the Dems have it. I want change. When the Republicans give me a “change candidate” I will vote Republican again.
Now for all you non 2nd graders out there that will vote McCain, You will get exactly what you vote for. If you want the country to move FURTHER to the left then by all means vote McCain. As for me I have a family that I worry about and sorry farther left isnt what I look for. If I vote McCain then I approve of the move to the left. If I dont vote it still goes left just not with my help.
The Republicans will start acting like conservatives or the Dems will remain in control. Whats the difference between what weve been doing compared to what the Dems will do? My vote means something to me and to throw it away on the same crap we get from the Dems just because hes a so called Republican isnt my style.
Kim, I am glad to see that someone else has found that info, but unfortunately the website address is slightly different than you posted.
http://www.acsa.net/cain2004.org/Dine-Navajo-PressRelease.htm
I was really shocked when I first visitted this site also, but there are plenty of others that verify what happened in Arizona to the peaceful Hopi-Navajo people. This is a must read.
I will not & cant not vote for McCain. He is a admitted adulterer . He cheated on his first wife. -years ago and he didnt even bothered to deny it!!! In afct, he admitted to it!!! Now there are two republican sources from McCain’s 2000 Presidential Campaign Staff whom reported John McCain had a adulterous relationship with a female lobbyist that the New York Times has just revealed. Can it get any worse for the Republican Party?
God, what in the hell is going on?
