Huckabee Heads to Cayman Islands for Paid Speech to Youth Group
On the charter flight from Little Rock to somewhere in Wisconsin, Chip Saltsman, Huckabee campaign manager came back to the press section and informed us that Huckabee will leave Wisconsin Friday, and head to the Cayman Islands to give a paid speech, booked several months ago.
Fox News has found out that it will be at the Young Caymanian Leadership Awards banquet in Grand Cayman, where Huckabee spoke several years ago. Huckabee will be there Friday night through Sunday morning and be back in Wisconsin Sunday evening to campaign through Tuesday when they hold their primary.
Initially, the Huckabee traveling press corps didn’t believe Saltsman. We thought Saltsman, who is known for his sense of humor, was kidding. He wasn’t. Flummoxed by the almost surreal news, we peppered him with questions.
FNC: Don’t you see how this can be perceived that your giving up?
Saltsman was adamant that they were not:
” We’re not giving up.He hasn’t had 2 days off in a row in over a year…we are coming right back on the trail on Sunday night.” Saltsman said Huckabee simply needed the paycheck. ” This is the man’s job, his livelihood. These speeches and books that he sells… are how he makes his living. Everyone else running has the taxpayers paying their salary, he doesn’t. If he does not do this, from time to time, he can’t pay his mortgage.”
Saltsman also pointed to the event heavy Wisconsin schedule through most of the week, as evidence that they were still campaigning hard, and had no intention of dropping out.
“We’re looking at Texas, and Ohio too,” Saltsman said ” We’re up right now in Wisconsin.”

Who cares. Good night.
How refreshing! A politician who has to work to pay his mortgage. It doesn’t seem fair that the taxpayers pay for the three senators to go out and campaign while Huckabee has to take time off to go make a living. Something is wrong with this system.
As an entrepreneur and small business owner, it seems natural that I would be a conservative Republican. I have voted Republican in every Presidential election since Ronald Reagan in 1980. I climbed the corporate ladder through the Reagan ‘80s and benefited from his policies and his leadership in the country. When he stood up and supported George H. W. Bush with his speech at the Republican convention I was in Hawaii with my wife celebrating our 10th anniversary. I remember his speech well and was proud to be a Reagan-Bush supporter. Listening to that speech, I knew that I was in the right camp.
I discovered Rush Limbaugh in 1991 leading up to the 1992 Presidential election. Like many, at first, I thought that he was an arrogant, pompous ass. Yet, my love for the newly minted talk-radio genre kept me tuning in. I had several talk show hosts that I listened to on a regular basis. Many of them ultimately faded away, but Rush stayed strong and I was a regular listener. Rush had won me over. I considered myself a ditto-head.
I first saw Mike Huckabee on Meet the Press in January 2007 announcing his run for President of the United States. My first impression was that he resembled Richard Nixon in appearance, and that his run for the Whitehouse as an unknown Governor from Arkansas was probably a pipe dream. But, as a political junkie and an avid fan of Meet the Press, I continued to listen to the Governor speak, and I found that I agreed with his positions on all of the issues — every single one. After the interview, I told my wife that I was very impressed with this man and that I felt he would make an excellent President.
Months passed before I heard about Mike Huckabee again. He never (or rarely) made the talk radio show circuit and I don’t recall seeing him on any of the cable news stations. I think the next time that I saw Mike Huckabee was during one of the first Republican primary debates in the spring/summer of 2007. Once again, Mike Huckabee impressed me with his stances on the issues and the way he connects with people when he speaks, so I began to research the Governor further.
Much to my dismay, there were a number of internet sites and articles which would lead you to believe that Mike was not the true conservative that he made himself out to be. These sites would have you believe that Mike was soft on immigration, soft on school choice, soft on crime. They would have you believe that Mike was a social conservative but a fiscal liberal. I read all the articles from Club for Growth and others and I took the bait.
With Mike out of the picture, I was not happy with the remaining candidate selection. Rudy was too liberal on social issues; McCain too liberal on taxes and immigration issues; Romney, a “born-again” social conservative; Thompson not yet in the race; and, Hunter and Tancredo – well…. unknown. With no real favorable options I looked at Ron Paul. I went through the issues, and like Mike Huckabee, I agreed with nearly every position that Ron Paul espoused; smaller government, lower taxes, state’s rights, nearly every position – except one – national security. How could anyone not understand that Islamic-Fascists are not, and never will be, our friends? That was a deal-breaker.
Back to square one.
After another debate or two, I began to look into Mike Huckabee once again. I found out that Time Magazine named him one of the top 5 Governors during his tenure. I found out that Mike was not for illegal alien amnesty, but in Arkansas was for educating the children of illegal aliens. If the federal government is not going to deport all of the illegal aliens, why not at least educate them so that they are productive, taxpaying residents of the state rather than a tax burden? How can you disagree with that logic? I also found out that Mike didn’t pardon Wayne Dumond, that Dumond was actually paroled – there was so much false information trying to paint this man as a liberal - so many half-truths being told.
Once again – I found my guy. At that point, I did something that I have never done before in any Presidential election. I donated to Mike’s campaign.
I followed the debates through the summer and early fall; and, in each debate, Mike either won the debate outright or came in a close second. No matter what the telephone polls or internet polls said about Ron Paul being the winner, Mike was the clear winner in most of them. Even though the media limited his time (and the other so-called 2nd tier candidates) and tried to paint Mike as the Christian candidate by feeding him all of the religious questions, there were times where Mike was able to deliver his message on the other important issues.
The debates made a difference, Mike began to rise in the polls and he was starting to raise some real money. He raised more in the third quarter than he had raised in the first two quarters of his campaign. By this time I had donated to his campaign 3 or 4 times. Although he was raising real money now, it was still dwarfed by the likes of Romney and Giuliani; but, be that as it may, the so-called “Huckaboom” had begun. People liked Mike’s message and the other candidates had to stand up and take notice. And boy, did they take notice. Fred Thompson, having entered the race as the so-called “true conservative”, launched the first salvo in an attack ad during the CNN/You Tube debate. Romney followed suit with attack ads in Iowa, of which in my opinion, were full of half-truths. The Club for Growth sponsored many anti-Mike ads using funds from Romney supporters. Yet, still, Mike prevailed and won the Iowa Republican primary.
New Hampshire was not expected to be one of Mike’s best primary states, being so close to Romney territory and of a liberal nature, and McCain and Romney were expected to do fairly well. Mike was polling very well in South Carolina, Florida, Texas and other southern states. With Rasmussen showing Huckabee in the lead nationally, it looked as though he had a fair chance of winning the Republican nomination; but, then came the onslaught of Huckabee-bashing (and McCain-bashing) by the right-wing media.
Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham and others started their attacks on Mike Huckabee and John McCain; again, painting both of these fine men as liberals. It was obvious to anyone listening that these hosts preferred Thompson, Giuliani or Romney over either Mike or McCain. The attacks were relentless. At first, Rush was allowing Huckabee supporters through on the phones to talk and rebut him on his Huckabee stance. It also seemed clear to me that Rush was truly uninformed on Huckabee’s record and even though he was painting him as a liberal, he had not performed the research to ascertain for himself where Mike really stood on the issues. It seemed as though he had been ill-informed about Mike Huckabee and his true conservative positions. It wasn’t long before it appeared that Rush felt this to be counter-productive to his cause and very few Huckabee supporters seemed to make it through his screeners. Rush has stated many times on his show that he does not endorse candidates during the primaries. However, it was obvious through his anti-endorsements who were his favorites – Thompson, Romney, and Giuliani.
Mike Huckabee has been marginalized by an out-right smear campaign. Romney, the Club for Growth, and the right wing talk radio show hosts have done their best to bring this man down. Now, they ask that he kindly step aside to allow Romney to become our nominee. I am so glad that the Governor has decided to stay in this race. If Governor Huckabee is not successful at getting the nod for the Republican party or a VP slot that he is more than qualified to hold, he would make an excellent conservative talk radio show host to fill the void left by the Huckabee supporters that feel so disenfranchised by the likes of Rush, Sean, Igraham, Beck and the so-called other conservative hosts. Folks, you reap what you sow.
we want this guy to be our president? he couldn’t even save enough money to buy house and he’s how old? i want someone who is succesful in life, that includes being smart enough to put some money away for a rainy day. you huck supporters keep telling us he’s fiscally responsible…i think not! he’s just a traveling side show! I HEART HUCKABEE…always have, always will!
Mike Huckabee is the best choice. Just put away the prejudgement and look at the issues.

I think it would be great to have a president who actually understands the concerns “we the people” face every day… like having to pay our own bills. It is disturbing to me that senators can be out there campaigning on OUR money (their salaries) while skipping the votes and work that we are paying them to do!!
And as far as success goes, most people would call being a re-elected governor “successful”. Whether you agree with Gov. Huckabee’s policies or not, he was a popular and successful governor of Arkansas. Ask those who live there. The state voted for him enthusiastically on Super Tuesday.
At this point, if you believe the media (that McCain is the nominee and nothing can stop him) then it is pointless to even go vote in the upcoming primaries… if you’re voting for McCain.
If you’re voting for Huckabee, at the very least you’re sending McCain the message that he needs to pay attention to the issues that conservatives care about… ideally, you are helping Huckabee get enough delegates to cause a “brokered convention” so that he may end up as the nominee after all.
Check out http://www.mikehuckabee.com …. if you haven’t been there yet, you may be pleasantly surprised.
The fact that Gov. Huckabee is honoring his commitment to this youth group even though it comes at a very awkward time, says something about his character. He will do what he says.
There’s all this talk these days about all the excitement on the Democratic side and how the Republican side isn’t very excited about their candidate (meaning McCain). But Huckabee supporters are VERY excited about their candidate. If Gov. Huckabee wins enough of the remaining delegates to preven Mr. McCain from winning the nomination, then there will be a brokered convention, and anything can happen. If that happens, I believe Gov. Huckabee will really shine and could end up winning the nomination. If he does, you will see a VERY excited Republican base ready to take on the Democratic nominee.
Nothing is impossible with God.
WHAT I SEE………………..CAN YOU SEE IT TOO?
What I see when I look at our field of Presidential Candidates in light of current world events and leaders.
On the Democrat side of the isle I see two very different Candidates with very similar views for our country.
One is Senator Clinton. In Senator Clinton’s campaign I see nothing but strife, contention, in-fighting and a struggle to get a consensus to make a decision. How can we rely on a leader who can’t even keep unity in her own ranks?
The other is Senator Obama. In Senator Obama’s campaign I see a sensational speaker who rides the tide of emotionalism. When times were not favorable we see his campaign withdrawn, subdued and searching for presence of mind. We know the demands of the Presidency are far greater than any campaign. There will be many times where unpopular decisions need to be made under challenging circumstances and we need a leader who can handle the stress with the presence of mind to make those decisions. We need more than emotions. We need substance.
On the Republican side of the isle I see two very different Candidates with very different views for our country.
The first is John McCain. In Senator McCain I see a great hero who struggles to maintain his composure. I see a Candidate who has shown time and again how he loses his presence of mind and temper over little things that are out of his control. I see a Candidate who could lead us to premature preemptive action when delicate diplomacy is required. I see a Candidate who will make a tense situation worse. I see a Candidate who needs a staff to manage him. How can we have a President who struggles to handle the little things and think he will somehow be different facing Vladmir Putin or Ahmadenajad?
Last but not Least is Mike Huckabee.
In Gov. Huckabee I see man who has faced the ridicule, scorn and contempt of the Republican establishment, the Media and fellow religious leaders and remained unflappable. I see a man who did not cower, wilt or fade in spite of overwhelming odds. In Mike Huckabee I see a man who keeps his presence of mind in all situations. In Mike Huckabee I see a man who brings levity to tense and challenging situations. In Mike Huckabee I see hope. In Mike Huckabee I see a future with sealed borders! In Mike Huckabee I see a future with the largest military power in the world! In Mike Huckabee I see a future with Fair trade! In Mike Huckabee I see a future with the Fair Tax!
In Mike Huckabee I see more executive experience than anyone running for office. In Mike Huckabee I see a man with clear objectives to help our struggling economy and the working class of our County!
In Mike Huckabee I see a President with a vision for our Country!
In Mike Huckabee I see a President who will stand strong with conviction for our Principles! That’s What I See.
I have no problem with Mike Huckabee taking time off to make a paid speech in the Cayman Islands. It only shows that he is in touch with the “real world”. He’s going to meet with businessmen and I am sure will learn more about present economic concerns. As stated, the other candidates can continue to campaign at our expense and continue to be out-of-touch with the average American’s lifestyle. Even the media-elevated Obama who speaks so much about hope and “connects” with Americans from all demographics lives a very different lifestyle from those same people and sends his children to private school.
This is the most important election year of our history.
Mike Huckabee has been the subject of smear and misrepresentation. Yet, he is the only candidate that will lead this country into a bright future. All other choices are defeat.
America will not fall from an enemy attack from the outside, no it would be from the inside.

I think it’s admirable that Gov. Huckabee is a man who keeps his commitments, regardless of how it looks to the press and how much it is perverted by the “anti-Huckabee” pundits and talk show hosts. He alone is the candidate that has the gutzo to keep going in spite of all the odds. Just watching the banners across the different news channels shows how much the press is blowing this whole Cayman issue out of proportion.
I have been a political junkie since the sixties and I have NEVER seen such a lop-sided, unfair and slanted reporting of a candidate in all those years. Somehow it’s reminiscent of the unfair slamming of the “movie-star” candidate Ronald Reagan who turned out to be one of our greatest presidents of all time.
You can count on this household Mike…I just sent more money to support your campaign…keep working to pay your bills (I’ve bought nearly all your books now and read them…they’re great!) and we, your supporters will help keep your campaign alive.
I guess this is when he will go and bash about religion, being only he can be assuming unless he goes to church with him and knows the religion he practices.
Kim, I loved what you had to say. I hope you have sent that particular email many places!!! I agree and it sounds almost like my journey because I too heard about Mike way back only I never forgot him. In fact, everytime, I could I “spoke his name” and ask if anyone knew about him. My journey with Rush has been the same. Anyway, I loved your comments and wish everyone could see what we see.
The media is loving this drama. The guy is going to the Cayman Islands to give a speech. It is amazing to hear all the whining by the media who is trying to decipher what is happening. I guess any news is good for a campaign. Keep up the great work Mike and my support is behind you 100%.
Mike is done! Thank God!!!! He must be too stupid to know when to quit! The reason why the conservative talk radio show hosts didn’t endorse him, is because HE WAS and IS NOT CONSERVATIVE!!! Just because someone claims to be conservative, it doesn’t make them conservative!!!! When will you dumb huckabee supports pick that up!!! Huckabee is like Jimmy Carter saying he is conservative.
Wake up and forget Mike Huckabee.
Whew, now I know that just because a word gets used all the time, it doesn’t mean that people know its definition. The word “conservative” comes from the word “conserve” meaning to preserve in a sound state. By its definition it means to preserve those institutions which we consider important—both family and government. What would not be conservative about Mike Huckabee—his support of marriage (thousands of years and hundreds of cultures), the sanctity of life (religion and Constitution), sovereignty of our nation (Revolution, War of 1812), less government (ever read Thomas Jefferson?), etc. I think Mike Huckabee would be good for this country because he understands what will make this country great—individuals and not the government. The government has done too much for us already and we are now left with a bunch of materialistic whiners who can only ask, “what have you done for ME lately”.
Go McCain!!!!!
Maybe we can “broker” Romney at the Convention, especially since he has more delegates and popular votes than Huckabee!
Romney/Palin in 08! oh yea!

Having read the article about this trip, I find it interesting that Mike’s campaign manager didn’t say that Mike was going to make the speech because he felt it important to keep his committments, he said he was going to give the speech because he needed to pay his mortgage.
I’m not sure why so many people on this board are claiming, he’s doing it to show he keeps his promises, when the candidate himself hasn’t made that claim. According to his campaign, he’s doing it for the paycheck.
Since that is the primary reason he is doing it, I find it disconcerting that he didn’t put enough money away before starting this endeavor to pay his mortgage. Heaven knows he tried to take enough furniture from the Governor’s mansion (over $100K worth), that he should be able to pay his mortgage. If he is living beyond his means, with the fancy houses, nice furniture, etc. why should I trust him with the economy. America needs to stop spending money that it doesn’t have, and so does Mike Huckabee. Support for his trying to take furniture from the governor’s mansion, as well as how he traded favors for gifts, etc. can be found at Judicial Watch’s website or on my blog. http://www.conservativesformitt.blogspot.com
It seems that Huckabee is hoping for a brokered convention, since the math (that he didn’t major in) shows it is impossible for him to get the delegates he needs to win. However, a brokered convention won’t help him become President. He has the support of evangelical Christians, and no one else. The moderates and liberals like McCain, the conservatives like Romney (who currently has more delgagtes than Huckabee). There are a lot of evangelicals in this country, and this election is proving that. But there aren’t enough that support this candidate, for it to secure him the nomination. At best, I think that at a brokered convention Huckabee could try to return the favor that McCain did for him in WV, i.e. Huckabee could give his delegates to McCain in return for a position in a McCain Presidency.
The only way that McCain includes Huckabee on the ticket is if McCain needs Huckabee’s delegates. Otherwise, there is no way he picks him. HUckabee just has too much baggage. Too many people consider him dishonest, and rightly so.
McCain would be wiser to pick Romney as his running mate. That would unify the party. But if he did, Romney would be wise to decline it. Being on the McCain ticket means that you would have to endorse everything that comes out of McCain’s mouth, which is frequently liberal leaning stuff.
A John McCain/Condoleeza Rice ticket would be interesting as would a John McCain/Colin Powell ticket.
Either way, I’m hoping to see Romney back again in 4 years.
[...] QandO) Huckabee heads to the Cayman Islands for a paid speech gig instead of [...]
[...] Yeah, so? This came up in December in the heat of Huckamania, when the issue was whether he was charging churches. (The gig this weekend is for a youth group.) Giuliani made millions speaking before his campaign; Billy Jeff’s made millions speaking since his term ended, which helps explain how Her Majesty was able to make that $5 million loan to her campaign. Here’s the best RCP can do: Huckabee’s odd choice does give the sense that staying in the race is merely a way of staying politically (and thus professionally) relevant. If Huckabee is going to stay in this thing, he’ll have to walk a fine between becoming a Kucinich-esque joke and a principled candidate. The former is merely an act of ego-stroking, while the latter confers a sense of duty. Taking money for speaking gigs doesn’t help persuade us it’s the latter. [...]
It is so refreshing to see someone who is REAL for a change. This man has to earn a paycheck. Just like YOU & I! Frankly that is what I want to see in a leader. Someone who can relate to the lives of the majority of the popuation, not just the Washington Elites.
He has run a stellar campaign on practically no money, by normal campaign standards. He is brilliant in the way he was able to use the news and entertainment outlets to get his message out. It shows someone who can think outside the box and come up with workable solutions with the resources at hand.
I also find it telling to look at the response of the press when Chip announced this. They kept looking for some other explanation. They just can’t wrap their minds around the fact that this is a man who really is honest, and when he says something you can believe it to be what it is. They are so used to being “played” by all the others, and having them “spin” the story after the fact to suit their new position that they don’t trust anyone. Its a sad way to have to live.
Mike is a man of integrity who we should be honored to have lead this nation through the many challenges ahead. Candidates can talk about what they would do with this policy, and how they have handled something else in the past, but when you select a president you have to ask yourself one thing only. “Is this a man I can trust to make the most honorable decisions with the data at hand, when no one else is looking”. For the only really important decisions he will have to make will not be the ones prescripted during a campaign. This is what I saw in Ronald Reagan in 1980, and this is what I see in Mike Huckabee today.
Let’s elect a man we can trust when our backs are turned, as boring as it may turn out to be for Rush Limbaugh et al.
Romney is about to endorse McCain. I he gives his delgates to McCain then the nomination will be just about wrapped up by the time Huckabee gets back from the Caymans…That’s hilarious.
Long ago our nation’s political leaders EARNED their livings in the “real world.” They were not compensated for their roles in our government. There was no motivation to acquire/hold political office for the sake of their personal finances. They were passionate about the security and progress of our nation, and donated their own time and resources to protect it. The possibility of losing their elected offices threatened only the positions by which they could contribute according to their genuine concern for our country. They understood what it meant to be burdened by taxes while trying to pay for their homes and support their families…sounds like Governor Huckabee to me.
Any national leader who values the sanctity of human life will make every decision with consideration to the safety and well-being of the citizens for which he is responsible…particularly the most helpless and innocent ones. Doesn’t that go without saying?
Shocking truth is: EVERY DAY…4,000 US citizens are legally executed on our own soil
…and no one thinks of this: EVERY DAY…thousands of adult female US citizens begin their journeys into lives of unbearable sadness, guilt, and remorse…all alone because of shame.
This has been happening for 35 years! I don’t know what else to say
For those of you who criticize Gov. Huckabee, I ask you to research. Read his books, check his record, ask the people of Arkansas why they re-elected him as governor. The best we can do as Americans is check the facts, stop listening to pundits who shape rather than express public opinion, and for our country’s sake - make an informed choice.
For all you poters above, especially Kim.
I am a middle aged resident of Little Rock, AR. I have been here for all of Bill Clinton’s run as governor and all of Mike Huckabee’s also.
Mike Huckabee accomplished quite a few notable items. Roads were an embarrasment until Mike raised taxes to pay for their reconstruction and Mike raised taxes to start a program called ARKids First which paid for heathcare for children not poor enough for Medicaid. Mike also raised taxes to build schools and consolidate Arkansas’ tiny inefficient school districts.
Now I am of the belief that taxes are needed for many things such as those listed above but for the life of me and virtually everyone in Arkansas we can’t figure out what the heck Huckabee is talking about when he makes the claim that he cut taxes 94 times.
If you think taxes are good or bad is beside the point, Mike Huckabee raised taxes quite a few times and now claims to have lowered them.
As a matter of fact Arkansas has had the embarrassing legacy of taxing groceries and Mike Huckabee fought the move to grant tax relief to struggling families putting food on their tables. It was not until Huckabee left office that we were able to remove taxes on poor people’s food.
As many of you probably know we have a large portion of people (mostly children) below the poverty level and Mike Huckabee fought to keep the sales tax on their food!
The other dark mark on Huckabee’s time as governor was his constant problem with ethics and questionable money grabbing.
Check it out, Mike Huckabee had more investigations by the State Ethics Commission for misuse of public funds than any previous governor. He and his family took the fund for mansion upkeep and spent it ALL on personal items. This made national news since Velveeta Cheese was listed as mansion upkeep along with drycleaning and upkeep at his personal lake house.
Mike Huckabee virtually took personal possession of the State Police airplane for campaing uses while governor and would not document why he was using it. Then as he left office he had all the harddrives of all the goveror’s office computers removed and CRUSHED at the same time they were being suppeanoed for a Freedom of Information lawsuit. NO PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION HAD EVER REMOVED AND CRUSHED HARDDRIVES BEFORE! That cost the state over $300,000 to replace. Huckabee abused the useof the State Police plane to such an extent that the plane which was planned to be in service 2012 was sold due to the need for a complete overhaul required by the FAA when it gets that many hours on it.
As Dano mentioned above, Huckabee did try to claim furniture donated to the Governor’s Mansion as his own. The family that donated it was astounded. they said they presented it to Huckabee, as governor, for the governor’s mansion but not TO Huckabee. He then claimed that he never said it was his even though he was quoted on TV and in the papers on it.
In summary, Huckabee RAISED taxes often and fought lowering them with all his might but did use them for good causes, roads and health insurance. But his trackrecord as a grubby moneychanger with out of state slushfunds to cover ethics rules makes him one that can not be trusted.
Note to Susan above.
Yes if you did listen to Arkansans you would find Huckabee has ethics problems and raised taxes which he now claims to have cut.
Also, word out this afternoon is that the Huckabee campaign has notified companies that loaned the campaign equipment such as phones and computers can now arrange to come pick them up.
So I guess it is over.

To Woody,
It seems you have fallen into the trap painted by Hollywood and your American Government that the Cayman Islands are evil and haven for tax evaders. The Cayman Islands above all are a Christian Democratic society where kids can still pray in public schools, and where they can go to school and not have the fear of being brought out in a body bag. The violence in your schools stems from the lack of morality from the lack of prayers. Avoiding taxes? why not-perhaps your tax evaders are sick and tired of their hard earned money being wasted and spent to pay for lazy drug users to stay home in the ghetto and watch soap operas all day, to pay for the abortions when they get knocked up and can’t afford another child, or to pay for public schools which are becoming havens in their own right for bullies, child molesters and satanists. Wasn’t it in Texas where a five year old was arrested for saying grace. The government has to paint Cayman in a bad light to avoid everyone jumping ship and coming here! Hooray for Mike Huckabee-sure he won’t win because you ignorant, atheistic and immoral hoodlums won’t vote for him -but you can’t say he doesn’t have the guts to stand up for what he believes in. You people need to think for yourselves and get out and see the world. You can’t go only by what Hollywood and your God forsaken Government brainwashes you to believe.
Hushing America! The push to silence the American
I have never seen anything like this in my entire life. This presidential election is very exciting, also very distrubing. On the Republican side they have been trying to force out one of the two canidates way before the voter has voiced their oppinion. On the Democratic side it appears that after all the votes are tallied the decision about who will be the Demorcratic nominee will be up to something called superdelegates, and these super delegates can vote any way that choose regardless of the popular vote or delegate count!
Is this how elections are suppose to be ran? Isnt the American voter suppose to be the ones who decide these elections? Im going to talk about the Republican side for a moment. Here is the last two canidates basically. The Republican Rules state that neither canidate secures the nomination until 1191 degates are recieved for that delgate. Not one canidate has done this but yet the Republican Elite and the media have been saying that its over. That McCain despite losing Most of the Red states is the republican canidate. For weeks now we have heard the reteric that Mike Huckabee cannot win, and that McCain is going to be the nominee. Even when the race wasnt really that far apart the media along with the republican elite have been saying this.
So who is it exactly that chooses the nominee? Is it the people or the Party Elite. If you have been paying any attention to the primarys and caucuses its seems as though a power struggle is going on. A power struggle between what the voters want and what the Washington Republican Elite want. I am glad to see people standing up and voting how they want to vote. Not rolling over for the Party. I say dont roll over because your party says its over. You tell the party when its over! The party belongs to the people., not the Partys few Elite.
It seems that for so long now there has been minipulation of the voter through the media, big name endorsements, with loose facts and numbers being reported.. ie….. the old “its mathmatically impossible for a canadite to win.”
Its funny the rule states that a nominee will be secured when one canidate reaches 1191 delegates….. the rule doesnt state that once canidate has a good lead he is the nominee.
I am happy to see that voters are making decisions for them selves. I read a blog from a gentlemen from wisconsin that read ” why should the first 20 states get to vote and not my state?, dont i get a say?” I couldnt agree more. I hope the system changes soon. This system now is too vaulnerable to minipulation, and to out right fraud.
As far as the Republican Canidates go, If it is true that John McCain has it all locked up, then why are they so ferverant about Mike Huckabee quiting. Let the voting go on, let all the states have a chance to voice theyre oppinions. Could it be that the Republican Elite do not want to hear the opinion of some states exspecially if it contradicts there own plans and ideas. I hope voters see through this show. Is it really necessary for all the McCain endorsements if he already has it locked up? I mean why the big show? Why the memo from John McCains office stating Huckabee cant secure the delegates he needs for a win according to math? I know whats going on. Its a little scary if you ask me. Lets not forget about Washington State, after all its been two weeks and they still havnt finished counting 1500 votes? I could of counted 1500 votes in a half hour? Whats really going on.
My message to the voter is, go vote, ignore the media, ignore the polls, ignore the endorsements, go vote your issues and your values. Its not over untill youve had your chance to vote. This is America. We choose our canidates, and we choose when its over. REMIND WASHINGTON WHO THEY WORK FOR. THEY DONT DECIDE THE OUTCOME OF ELECTIONS THROUGH CLOSED DOOR MEETINGS. WE DECIDE THE ELECTION THROUGH THE HEART AND THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.
That said, I am an independant, So I can speak a little more freely on these Matters. I have nothing but respect for MIke Huckabee. Hes standing up against the establishment and insisting that they obide by their own rules, and letting each voter have his chance to have his vote count. I will be voting for Huckabee when Im given the chance. The freedom to vote is something that is being underminded in this election. Keep em honest. Go Vote How you Want To, Not how your told!!!
[...] Republican nominee some tense moments and embarrassment. But he can’t do it if he’s not around. Huckabee went to the Cayman Islands on Friday, staying till Sunday night, for a speaking gig. What was he doing in the Caribbean at this seemingly odd moment? Giving what apparently is a [...]
What a phony! This Christian Conservative (supposedly) is traveling around the country on the funds of his “supporters”. He knows he doesn’t have ANY chance of getting anywhere in this “race” and is using this excuse (wants everyone to have a voice -ha ha) to enjoy this jaunt on the backs of innocent people. He really should disappear right now while he MAY have a shred of decency left (or maybe not). Early in the campaign I considered voting for him - now he sickens me.
