Obama Wins Potomac Primary - Moves on to Wisconsin
Barack Obama won all three contests that comprise the “Potomac Primary” today, as expected. Before the polls closed, the candidate left the ice and freezing rain of Northern Virginia and headed to the snowy midwest for a rally in Madison, Wisconsin.
“Today, the change we seek swept through Chesapeake and over the Potomac. We won the state of Maryland. We won the commonwealth of Virginia. And though we won in Washington, DC, this movement won’t stop until there’s change in Washington, DC, and tonight we’re on our way!” He told a crowd of some 18,000 on the campus of the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
But the candidate who has, does, and will continue to (according to senior advisor David Axelrod) consider himself the underdog in this race until the nominee is selected. And Obama made sure to tell Wisconsin voters this race is far from over. “We know how much farther we have to go. We know it takes more than one night – or even one election – to overcome decades of money and the influence; the bitter partisanship and petty bickering that’s shut you out, let you down and told you to settle. We know our road will not be easy. But we also know that at this moment the cynics can no longer say that our hope is false. We have now won east and west, north and south, and across the heartland of this country we love. We have given young people a reason to believe, and we have brought the young at heart back to the polls who want to believe again.”
The frontrunner - according to the Obama campaign is still that hurdle known as Hillary Clinton and he’s still making the pitch to voters. “That’s the choice in this primary. It’s about whether we choose to play the game, or whether we choose to end it; it’s change that polls well, or change we can believe in; it’s the past versus the future. It’s about whether we’re looking backwards or whether we’re marching forward. And when I’m the Democratic nominee for President – that will be the choice we have in November,” he said, showing some degree of confidence.
The campaign is continuing to spread its message of hope, change, and unity here in Wisconsin this week, and then it’s on to Texas and Ohio, which the candidate talked about at the end of his speech tonight. “The voices of the American people have carried us a great distance on this improbable journey, but we have much further to go. Now we carry our message to farms and factories across this state, and to the cities and small towns of Ohio, to the open plains deep in the heart of Texas, and all the way to Democratic Convention in Denver; it’s the same message we had when we were up, the same message when were down; that out of many, we are one; that our destiny will not be written for us, but by us; and that we can cast off our doubts and fears and cynicism because our dreams will not be deferred; and our future will not be denied; and our time for change has come.”

All the results I see show that the less educated the voter, the more likely a vote for Hillary, and the more educated the voter, the more likely a vote for Obama.

There is a good possibility that Obama’s Muslim and Islamic ties are going to end up nipping us in the butt! How do you know for 100% sure that the middle east is not financing a huge part of his campaign? How do you know Obama has not been groomed just for this election by radical Muslims? It may sound corny to you but what are you going to say down the road if this proves to be true? What will your excuse be then for the reason you voted for him? It is about the Democratic party, we have a shot at going 16 years with a Democrat in the White House only if Hillary Clinton is nominated in 2008, with a vice president of Obama. If we nominate Obama in 2008 and he fails to win the presidency we will have 8 plus years of Republicans in office.
Super deligates can certainly stear the election to protect the party AS WELL THEY SHOULD.

Well this is getting quite interesting. All of the flower power, free love, Obama lovers are starting to sound less like a community that wants to bring all parties together and more like “pick my candidate or I will insult you every chance I get, on every internet avenue possible.” It scares me to think about the kind of “rock star” following this man has. Please remember, Charles Manson had a following too.
Voting for Hillary, Obama or McCain is like choosing between liberal and liberal-light. Its a real shame that we have a mass of people in this country that can be duped into voting for something as simple as “change”. I can “change” the color of my car to purple with pink pinstripes, but I don’t necessarily think that would be for the better. It is too late for this election, IMO, because none of the candidates are truly Conservative.
PS: If Hilliary wins, watch out for an agenda that will absolutely kill our economy in the long run.(see Roosevelt) The fact that she can sell the idea of socialized medicine being good for our country to such a large group of people just shows how ignorant, gullible and uninformed most people really are.
This may seem like a small thing to some here, but as a resident of Illinois and a child of a disabled veteran, I am very happy with the work that Obama has done to correct the disparities in VA funding from state to state. I’m also impressed by his push to make records of federal government spending accessible to the general public; there’s nothing wrong with transparency there.
The two matters mentioned above aren’t enough in my mind to make one a candidate of choice, but Dems who dismiss Obama as an empty vessel need to do a little more honest, impartial research. H(ow much of Clinton’s rhetoric will ring as hollow once she’s off the campaign trail and potentially in the White House?) Also, anyone who continues to indulge in this Obama as Muslim foolishness could stand to work a little harder to become truly as knowledgeable as the believe themselves to be. Major news outlets may have their shortcomings, but sketchy blogs with poorly cited sources — or none at all — aren’t the place for responsible information gathering.

When this all started, Hillary was a lock for the nomination. Then she lost Iowa. She cried her way to victory in New Hampshire. She lost South Carlolina and proclaimed that she was a national candidate and would deliver the knock out punch on Super Tuesday. She lost Super Tuesday 13-8. She hasnt won since. Losing 8 straight. Now she says Texas and Ohio will put her back in control.
I have to wonder if Sen Clinton is in denial. Cant she see whats happening to her. America, with the exception of a few states, has soundly rejected her. Obama is not just winning states. He is blowing her campaign out of the water. Whats going to be the excuse if she doesnt win Texas Ohio and Penn? Is she going to cry and accuse the American people of a vast and widespread conspiracy against her and her husband?

If the democrat party utilizes their ’super’ delegates to select (not elect) Hillary as their nominee then they will not only alienate all those Obama supporters and usher in a Republican, but they will manifest in truth the lie they propagated in 2000 that the President (in this case the nomonee for President) was SELECTED not ELECTED.
Why do Democrats even have ’super’ delegates when the Republicans have no such manipulative means in place to suvert their party members’ choice for a nomonee? Is there any reason past ‘protecting the party’? Protecting it from what, it’s members?
I too, will vote for a Republican for the first time in my life, if Obama wins the Democratic nomination. I have much respect for Obama as a public speaker but not as our highest ranking public official. Believe me, I know this is the hope of the Republican party. Even though the press has not given it much attention, Obama took a lot of Republican votes yesterday. Do you think that those votes will go his way in November? NO WAY!! Needless to say, right now it works in the best interest of the Republicans to make Obama look like the worthiest candidate and that he could actually win the general election. The whole time Hillary was leading all you so called Hillary supporters were chanting that she inevitable, but now that Obama has proven her dominance was just a myth and that she under estimated the American people you want to cry and complain. Well, at least Southern Girl’s link is showing us the kind of mindless mudslinging in store during the General election. Oddly enough, though, her “evidence” makes me MORE likely to support Obama since he will be better able to understand and communicate with foreign countries — especially Islamic ones. It means he has wrestled personally with the issues of race and identity and come to the conclusion that a policy of unity and inclusion is a better answer.
And hey, just for the record, Southern Girl . . . I have a grandfather who was Catholic & one who was an atheist. I have ancestors who were polygamist Mormans, others who were probably Nazis, some who were slave holders, others who were abolitionists and still others who were native American. Yet I am none of those things. I call myself a Christian but do not believe every word of the bible — just as you call yourself a Christian but appear unwilling to embrace a number of Christ’s teachings on love. Am I required to publically state that I have renounced Mormanism, Fascism, atheism, Catholicism, Animism and Racism simply because my forebearers practiced them (and some of my existing relatives still do)? And is my faith any less real because it grew gradually instead of being imparted in a “born again” moment?
Oh, and one more thing. Muslim, Jewish and Christian Scholars generally agree that they believe in the SAME God/Jehovah/Allah and recognize many of the same prophets. It’s the Christ vs. Mohammed thing that separates us. So the bit about “unite under one God” is meant to recognize our commonalities, not as a threat that they plan to supplant our God with theirs. So stop the fear-mongering. It only makes you look stupid.

Thanks CNN, thanks Wolf Blitzer. But I cannot help but wonder why you are “not going to let up”. Did you ever get a memo instructing you how to handle the Castro coverage? How about the Obama, Clinton, McCain coverage? Just wondering. Also, since McCain has no chance, wouldn’t your time be better spent exposing all the relationships everyone in Washington has with lobbyists? And then explain to working class Americans why that information is so important to them when action is taken and laws are made in Washington!
True, middle class America is working so hard and taking care of family every day that the Bush Administration got away with a lot. But America spoke up and took back the house & the senate. All we need now is a Democratic President.
I will just underscore what those not manipulated by his soothing speeches are thinking about Obama: HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE! He doesn’t even share with us his plans, if elected, for taking office as our President. Full exposure, (to the best of a politicians’ ability), is far more trustworthy.
