Across America Tour, Day Two: Mt. Washington, Pittsburgh
By Lee Ross
What a neat way to start the on top of Mt. Washington. This vista overlooks downtown Pittsburgh and the Monongahela river. Just to our left is the confluence with the Allegheny and the Ohio.
Getting here was a bit rough as about five inches of snow was on the ground. And we hear more is on the way as we head West.

On top of Mt. Washington is the incline that residents use each day to get to downtown. The tram-like mode of transportation has been used since the 1870’s. And we did a live report from one of the runs. Many thanks David Whipkey with the Pittsburgh port authority for making our day possible. Also many thanks for the excellent coffee and hot chocolate from grand brew right around the corner on Shiloh. We’re off to Ohio.

Technically, it should be the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela to join the Ohio River. Born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. It really is a spectacular view!
It really is a beautiful view. One should see it at night with all the bridges lit up. Nothing better than having dinner at LeMont and admiring the scenery.

Hey! I was interviewed by Phil in Market Square and I can’t find the video clip anywhere! Has anyone seen the Pittsburgh clips?
