I COULD NEVER VOTE FOR MIKE HUCKABEE BECAUSE OF WHAT I’VE LEARNED ABOUT HIM

Many would question whether Mike Huckabee is a true conservative; I would question whether he is even a true CHRISTIAN! For an ex-Baptist preacher, the man sure has a potty mouth! Re: where to put the flag pole if anyone disagreed with his position on the Confederate flag, and also considering the risqué music/song lyrics used by Huckabee and his band, Capitol Offense. Imagine the pastor of your church singing H*y Tonk Woman or Devil With a Blue Dress (song lyrics would be offensive to many) (www.irdial.com/blogdial/?p=909).

Huckabee has a history of corruption and lack of ethics and is one of two republican presidential candidates on the list of TOP TEN MOST CORRUPT POLITICIANS of 2007 (www.judicialwatch.org). One example, after being married for 30 years, Huckabee set up a WEDDING registry at Target for him and his wife to receive gifts for their house. The wedding registry was a way to avoid ethics laws prohibiting gifts to politicians.

Huckabee has also spawned a son who stoned and hung a dog to death. David was fired as a Boy Scout’s counselor for disobeying the “Be Kind” rule. Daddy Huck hindered the police investigation of David for animal cruelty. This should bring pause to anyone thinking of voting for Huckabee. Family animal cruelty issues often times indicate other problems as well.

His personality is described at Wikipedia as petty, thin-skinned, self-righteous, and somewhat vindictive (www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Huckabee).

He could never win in a general election. Imagine his Confederate flag flap being played over and over in the Dem’s TV ads. And he wants to amend the Constitution to his religous agenda. This would alienate too many moderates and independents–you’re wasting your vote if you vote for Huckabee.

Comment by Melynda

I am happy to hear of the endorsement. Republicans need a choice rather than voting for McCain. A true conservative’s candidate!

Comment by Dan

Who cares? Not voting for Huckabee even if “God” as his supporters would claim endorses him! What is he still doing in the race anyway? Is he really so mathematiclly handicapped he can’t figure out that he has now chances of winning the nomination? Hello, Huckabee–get out of the way. You and McCain will not get elected into the White House! Most conservative Republicans will be sitting this one out. Stop wasting donation money from workers at Walmart. Have a heart and give them their money back!

Reed, Sekulow in on Romney-as-face-of-conservatism meeting
Monday, February 11, 2008, 08:27 AM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Last week, immediately after Mitt Romney pulled out of the Republican presidential race, we noted that his CPAC address sounded less like a concession speech and more like a bid to become the voice of the culture wing of the GOP.

Darn, we’re good.

Turns out that after the applause died, Romney huddled with “some 50 stalwarts of the political right” to discuss making the former Massachussetts governor “the face of conservatism, as Ronald Reagan became en route to his 1980 election win,” the Washington Times reported this weekend.

Participants at the meeting included Georgia’s Ralph Reed, the former head of the Christian Coalition, and Jay Sekulow of Alpharetta, chief counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice, who served as a kind of liaison to evangelicals for the Romney campaign.

“The movement needs someone of Ronald Reagan’s stature and Romney could fill that role,” the Times quoted Sekulow as saying.

The newspaper reported that American Conservative Union Chairman David A. Keene presided over the meeting, in the same hotel where the Conservative Political Action Conference was held.

Others at the meeting included radio talk show host Laura Ingraham; former Reagan White House official Donald J. Devine; Indiana Republican National Committee member James Bopp Jr.; Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilganon; former Sen. Jim Talent of Missouri; Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis; Human Events editor-in-chief Tom Winter; conservative activist Bay Buchanan; Ann Corkery, a Catholic activist; and Rabbi Nate Segal, a Rush Limbaugh associate. Free Congress Foundation President Paul M. Weyrich listened in via phone.

Wah! Wah! Mike Huckabee this…..Wah! Wah! Mike Huckabee that….
You people obviously campaign for the other candidate. So, why do you smear-blog this man who has been the more honest and is a more conservative presidential presence than your man? Fight on the issues! Mike will bring out the best in this country….not the worst…like your candidate is doing to you! Go Mike Huckabee!!!!

Comment by Joe

Mike Huckabee let his bigot hate monger supporters do the smearing so he could sit by and say he was running the only clean campaign. Huck’s supporters have already shown their worst, but are to self righteous to every realize it. Keep pushing forward Huck, you’ll only make people dislike you more.

Comment by Noel

I couldn’t have said it better than Frank. Huckabee won hear in Iowa with flying colors, and spent less than 10% of what Romney spent. In fact, Huckabee is still in the race and has spent about 10% of what Romney spent Nation wide. If thats not fiscal conservatism, I don’t know what is. I like Romney and McCain, but feel they are both out of touch with the issues and us. Huckabee seems to be the only one that can relate with those of us that live paycheck to pay check, and I am a 16 year veteran in the military working on that retirment.

Shelby,

How dare you condemn from your self-assumed perch of righteousness and judgment as you do? Who gave you that authority?

You condemn Governor Huckabee for his “potty mouth”, and then use phraseology like “Huckabee has also spawned a son”? You abject Hypocrite!

You vile evil Puritan! You would have Governor Huckabee’s teeth set on edge because of the actions of his son? This utterly goes against all Christian doctrine, and in fact is contrary to the very Scriptures themselves. Who do you think you are?

See, here’s the problem with people like you, doubtless good Christians in their own minds each and every one. You believe that your starched white collars and somber dressed hypocrisies justify your own innate hatefulness, all under the banner of Christianity. They don’t. Physician, heal thyself!

And whatever you do, please do not defame Christianity by claiming or even pretending that your Puritan witch-dunkings and burnings upon the stake are in any way justified under the symbol of the Cross. Quite the contrary is true, you Pharisee!

You, and people like you, were the very ones that condemned Jesus for drinking wine, and celebrating in feasts. You, and people like you, condemned Mary Magdalene for pouring oils upon his feet. She soothed his feet with her own hair and her own tears, whist people like you savagely attacked her.

John the Baptist had your sort pegged correctly, Shelby–whitewashed tombs, clean on the outside but full of all manner of filth within.

Comment by Matt

Hucklebee will get what he deserves - what goes around comes around. His comment about that the only reason he is staying in the race is to ‘watch himself’ … he would sell us out for his ego??

We will have to rally behind McCain no matter what our first choice. Romney said it when he stepped down. We must strengthen our party to beat the Democrats in November.

God Bless you Romney… and thank you for showing love for our country and keeping our best interests at heart. You didn’t ‘lose’ … you proved your integrity and honor.

Mitt Romney for Vice President!! : ) We can hope, right?

Even if Huckabee won every single state left, he would not have more delegates than McCain.

This endorsement is really nothing more than an anti-McCain statement!

I have no doubt that this guy knows as well as everyone else that Huckabee’s chances are non-existent, and wishes to only send a message.

I highly doubt he would actually want Mike Huckabee to be our next President!!!—I mean, even for people who genuinely like the guy—-

—THE THOUGHT OF HIM ACTUALLY SITTING IN THE OVAL OFFICE AND BEING IN CHARGE OF THE AFFAIRS OF THIS COUNTRY IS HILARIOUS AND FRIGHTENING ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!!

Huckabee has NO chance to win the nomination!

He’s hoping to get enough delegates to keep McCain from the nomination—taking us to a brokered convention—-where he can negotiate his way onto the ticket as VP!

This is classic Washington style politics at it’s best! No consideration for the good of the party, no worrying about what a brokered convention will do to our party’s chances in November—-not a care in the world—-except his own ambitions to become President someday—somehow!

HUCKABEE IS THE BIGGEST “WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING” SINCE BILL CLINTON!!!!

Comment by Floyd W. Whitley

And by the same measure, Joe, I have every right to point out the hypocrisy of Shelby’s comments, most especially when those hypocritical comments are couched beneath the raiments of a pretended albeit undeserved Christian sanctity as they were.

My comments stand, appropriately made. You merely do not like the truth of them.

If you accept that hypocrite’s statements here as “facts”, and if you believe that those statements reflect in any manner whatsoever Christian doctrine, and if you think that those sorts of comments further legitimate political dialog, then indeed, you are well deserving of how my response to those hypocritical statements make you look, idiot or otherwise, Christian or not.

Comment by Dan Moughon

Funny how some of us are willing to believe that pro choice candidates would become reliable conservative votes but where Huckabee has a reliable record on life, his conservative offerings for the economy could not be trusted.

I believe Huckabee is a conservative and that he can be trusted across the board to protect the nation, the border and to offer economic policies that will keep the economy growing.

I believe McCain has proven that he can not be trusted.

I am voting Huckabee.

Comment by Joe

Floyd,

I don’t see where Shelby claimed to be Christian, she just pointed out documented facts about Mike Huckabee. I think you are the one that doesn’t like the truth. Take off your blinders Floyd.

Comment by Nancy

Dan,

Mathematically all Huckabee needs to do is take enough of the vote to keep McCain from getting the 1191 he needs. There is remaining 947(?) delegates. Mike Huckabee only needs to take 481 delegates and keep McCain from achieving the 1191 he needs. Then it will be decided at the Convention. Therefore, I think he is still a viable candidate and all votes count!

Comment by Joe

Nancy,

Do you think Huckabee will get the nod if he forces it to the convention? McCain will still get the nod. He’ll still have the majority of the delegates. McCain has the support of most of the Republican party leaders. Huckabee is not being rational.

Comment by read this

What the media isn’t telling you: John Mccain needs to win 57 percent of the remaining delegates to get the nomination. Though it may be impossible for huckabee to win 85 percent of the remaining delegates its pretty realistic he can keep john Mccain from winning 57 percent. Then it goes to the convention. So the guy who says huckabee can’t do math doesn’t know what he is talking about.

Comment by Dale

I will try to make this as brief as possible.

If we have a Dem Cong prez, Dem Cong congress and Dem Cong senate what kind of homage do you think they will pay to the constitution? I’ll help…NONE!!!

The very first thing they will do in install 3, get that three(3), new activist liberal supreme court justices that we all get to live with for at least the next twenty(20, count ‘em, 20 years.

Next they will subvert the tax code even more where they will extract even more money out of our pockets and give it to those that are drug addicted, don’t know how to put three words together to convey an idea, except with a gun at a liquor store.

Then they will make sure that those, that decided to make a principled statement and stayed home or decided to not vote for the republican candidate and concentrated on the congress critters instead, but didn’t have enough voters to change the make up of the majority, never get back into power. How, you ask? Simple, make more handouts and giveaways, increase entitlements and make some new entitlements, that’s how. Who is going to vote out the majority that is providing the free meals and drugs and wide-screen TVs and…. you get the picture.

The republicans and conservatives can kiss any control of congress goodbye for at least 12 to 50 years, if the conservatives, in their infinite wisdom and vindictiveness, decide to hand absolute control of this nation over to the socialists/marxists(Dem Cong) by staying home or taking the road to oblivion with Mike Huckabee.

Done!

Comment by Floyd W. Whitley

My comment stand, appropriately made.

The comments to which I responded were hypocritical and nasty at best. THAT is the fact. They have no place here, under the construction by which they were drafted.

I’m done with you, Joe. I will not debate with an idiot or a fool, for to continue such a discussion would be entirely pointless.

You lack the capacity.

Comment by Linda

Because none of the states remaining are “winner take all”, it is impossible for Huckabee to get more delegates than McCain.

Huckabee was and still remains “the spoiler”.

gomer pyle should just get out of the race and crawl back in the bushes until somebody else comes along with a microphone or camera and old gomer will jump out and say aw schucks i am running for president i think it’s in chord D on the guitar.this guy is snake just another clinton with fake preacher certificate.

Comment by JH

Nancy,

Actually…………….There are 1,138 remaining delegates.

Huckabee would have to win 671 or 59% of remaining delegates to keep McCain from getting to 1191.

He would have to get 974 or 86% of remaining delegates to get 1,191 for himself.

He denies that he is only staying in to force a brokered convention—–but the numbers speak for themselves, that is EXACTLY what he is trying to do!

As I stated above—he is putting his own personal ambitions and desires above the good of the Republican party.

The GOP’s chances of winning against the Democrats in November is already questionable——if we have a brokered convention, and have to wait to start a national campaign until September—-it will be nearly impossible for us to unite and strengthen ourselves in time for the general election!

Mitt Romney had much more conservative backing—and a much greater argument for staying in this race—-but chose to put the good of his party above his own desires!

Huckabee should do the same—-but won’t—-because his desire for power and recognition is his number one driving force!

Once again, he will be a spoiler, and this time it will benefit the Democrats!

Comment by Sheba

If Mccain is elected to be the nominee, I would stay home. I really have nothing against him, but I am so angry at the so called republican party and the republicans for they way they have been treating a christian candidate. Washington Caucus has behaved so badly and the cable news is not covering it. If this happened to Mccain or Obama or Hillary would everybody keep their mouth shut.

I would rather have a terrible person like Hillary for 4 years than to reward the republican party. For now I am ashamed to be a republican. And I know that I am not the only one in the country feeling this way.

I dont see why people hate Huckabee. In the field of experience he would beat mccain because he ahs been a governor. Anyway if the republican party wants to loose the christian base so be it. They are fools to think that just because somebody is pro-life that is enough. They are so wrong.

Nancy et al,

While it is technically possible for Huck to keep McCain from winning outright, he has already really won. Don’t forget Romney had more votes than Huck by far when he dropped out–enough to seal the deal for McCain. They are still committed to him and believe me he will NOT be directing any of the delegates Huck’s way after the nasty Bible Belt Bigot and Hillbilly Huckster has shown. Mitt already made that clear in his speech when he gallantly stepped aside so that the party could coalesce around the man that WILL be the candidate–John McCain.

Noel, you were so proud that Huckster got more votes in Iowa than Romney even if Romney spent much more campaigning there. Hatred and bigotry are stronger than cash and were the currency Huckabee and his ministerial minions paid for his win in Iowa. I hope he burns in hell for all the lies he told.

I am seeing on a lot of blogs that Huckabee can win if Mitt just swings his votes toward Huck.
NOT UNTIL HELL FREEZES OVER!!!

HUCKABEE GO HOME–YOUR 15 MINUTES OF FAME HAS COME AND GONE.

THINK SHEEPLE–WHAT IS THE DOWN HOME BOY GOING TO DO TO HANDLE THE OBVIOUSLY COMING NEW SOVIET THREAT??? CLUELESS??? WELL PLAY THAT GEEE-TAR FOR PUTIN BOY–I’M SURE THAT WILL WORK!!

Romney showed class and concern for the nation above his own personal interests when he stepped aside. He was a shoe in here in Washington State if he had stayed in–got 17% in the caucuses this week without even running and Huck only cleared low 20’s with a full court press from his ministerial minion–Joe Fuiten!!! Now they are crying about the results which were clearly for McCain (and will be at the convention when the Romney group puts their 17% on top of McCain’s mid-20’s numbers). The party is over and no matter how many attorneys you have descend on Washington state, the result is the same–YOU LOST YOU CRYBABY–GO HOME TO ARKANSAS AND PREACH TO YOUR SHEEPLES AND HOPE THEY PUT A LOT IN THE COLLECTION PLATE!!

Comment by Sheba

Linda,
I think you are as bad as Huckabee in math for calling him a spoiler

Comment by Linda

Sheba -

Take that up with ALL the news media. It is mathmatically impossible for Huckabee to get more delagates than McCain, whether you choose to believe it or not. Even Romney, who was far ahead of Huckabee, could not win more delagates than McCain with the remaining states.

Keep dreaming.

You Huckabee lovers who are saying “WOOHOO HUCKABEE CAN MAKE THE NOMINATION GO TO THE CONVENTION—-WOOHOO!”

That’s NOT a good thing for the Republican party——can you not understand that???!!!!

YOU GUYS ARE AS DENSE AS YOUR CANDIDATE!!!! YOU ARE LETTING YOUR LOVE FOR HIM BLIND YOU TO REALITY!!!!

IF THE REPUBLICANS GO TO A BROKERED CONVENTION—–EVEN IF THE DEMS DO TOO—–THE DEMS WILL WIN———–HANDS DOWN!!!!

DO YOU SEE THEIR ENTHUSIASM? DO YOU SEE THE MONEY THEY’RE RAKING IN??? DO YOU SEE THAT THE DEMS VOTER TURNOUT DOUBLES OURS??

IF WE CANNOT UNITE THIS PARTY QUICKLY AND START GETTING THINGS IN PLACE—–WE WILL NOT STAND A CHANCE IN NOVEMBER!!!

THAT’S THE COLD, HARD, REALITY OF IT FOLKS!!!

And good old Huckabee can keep going on his EGO TRIP as long as he pleases—-BY HELL HE AINT GONNA LET NO ONE TELL HIM HE’S GOTTA QUIT!!! But it will end up being to the detriment of the entire Republican party——and I don’t think most folks will take kindly to it!!!!

IT’S TIME FOR THE HUCKA-SPOILER TO SAY HUCKA-BYE-BYE!!!

Comment by maire thomson

Huck is the one who painted himself into a corner by declaring he was the “Christian” candidate. Mitt Romney is the one who has comported himself all his life like a christian should. Never called out on ethics violation (Huck called on 4), Served as minister of large congregations for free (Huck was a pass the plate and pay me televangelist type—Elmer Gantry); Mitt has a family to be proud of with 5 sons all married and all gainfully employed (Huck’s kid was cruel to a poor sick dog and hung him).

All told Mitt Romney is the only truly Christian candidate and he stepped aside with a much better chance than Huck had hoping Huck would have the decency for the sake of the country to do the same.

Go home Huck. You are a disgrace! The dust you are kicking up in Washington state shows you are a remarkably poor looser and crybaby. Here in Washington we love Luke Esser–the party chair. He is a very conservative guy and has remained unbiased throughout the entire process. The election was called in the wee hours because it was showing the same trend and it was clearly stated that only 87.5% of the vote had been counted. With it all counted the results are the same.

Comment by maire thomson

Hi,

Ooops on my last post that was 14 (not 4) ethics violations for which Huckabee was called out.

He was named as one of the “TOP TEN MOST WANTED CORRUPT POLITICIANS” of 2007 by Judicial Review. Some Christian. If I were one of you voting for him because he is a Baptist Minister, I’d be blushing in shame!!

He is going to loose the possibility of election for Republicans.

Get this stupid man OUT OF HERE NOW!! Coming to Washington State with attorneys indeed!!!!
They are getting press by saying there were “irregularities” in Washington before–that was in a state wide election and it was the Democrats who rigged the Governor’s election here on the 3rd recount. Irrelevant to the current situation.

Comment by Nancy

Joe,

I would love to see this go to convention. So far, the majority of Romney supporters are voting Huckabee in lieu of the candidate that they wanted to see achieve victory. Also, another article on Fox News says the Dems are already planning an attack on McCain regarding his voting record and things that he has said in the past that might sway some of the voters to vote Democrat instead of Republican. I for one do not see McCain as the best choice for conservative republicans and without the republican base get ready for 4 years of higher taxes to fund the dems pet projects. But, even without those arguments if it goes to convention to and McCain does get the nod it might just force the Republican Party to wake up.

Comment by maire thomson

Folks Weyrich endorsed Mitt Romney first. Doesn’t that tell you something? He knew a good man and a true conservative when he saw one.

Huck is his fall-back position and a weak one for Mr. Weyrich. I wish he had used his influence to get Huckster out of the kitchen so the real work of electing a Republican President could start.

Comment by ANNA

TO SHEBA,

“The way they have been treating a Christian candidate”?????

Last time I checked, every single candidate for President this year was a Christian—–why should the media be giving Huckabee special treatment?????

And last time I checked, religion is NOT supposed to be a factor in a Presidential election!

The media MADE religion a factor for some candidates (Mitt Romney).

And some candidates MADE religion a factor for themselves (Mike Huckabee).

To say Huckabee has received unfair treatment by the Republican party or the media is absolutely laughable!!! They have not scrutinized him or his record nearly as much as some of the others, and they gave him a complete pass on some of the things he’s said and done during this campaign——GIVE ME A BREAK!

Do you know the difference between the right-wing conservatives and the left-wing nutroots from Moveon.org?

Answer when we return…….

We now resume our regularly scheduled programming.

And the answer is…

The left-wing nutroots will get onboard with the party’s candidate even if they don’t like him/her/it, and have to hold their noses to vote. They know if they stay home the ‘evil, rich, hateful’ republicans will win the election.

The conservatives on the othe hand, feel the distinct need/urge to make a statement of principle, during the election cycle, its a primeval urge like a mating. They would vote for the democrat or stay home rather than vote for someone they don’t feel is a ‘true’ conservative and make sure the country suffers, for the next 4 to 8 years, because they are having a tantrum. They could just as easily made their point after the election and had time to fix the problem without screwing everyone, but no, they are principled people and they don’t screw around on their spouses or cavort with prostitutes or consume large quantities of alcohol, they are principled people.

And now a word from our sponser….

FOR THOSE WHO ARE ROMNEY SUPPORTERS OR THOSE WHO CANNOT BRING YOURSELVES TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN IN THE PRIMARIES———————–DO NOT THROW YOUR VOTE AWAY ON MIKE HUCKABEE, PLEASE DON’T HELP TO BOOST HIS EGO ANY FURTHER!!!!!

ROMNEY HAS ONLY SUSPENDED HIS CAMPAIGN AND STILL HOLDS ONTO HIS DELEGATES! IF YOU AREN’T GOING TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN—–GIVE YOUR VOTE TO ROMNEY—–HE IS STILL ON MANY OF THE BALLOTS, OR YOU CAN WRITE HIS NAME IN!!!

YOU CAN STILL CAST A VOTE FOR THE TRUE CONSERVATIVE IN THE PRIMARIES, AND CPAC’S #1 CHOICE—MITT ROMNEY!!

Linda,

Actually there are still three states that are Winner take all: Vermont, Washington D.C. and Virginia. However, all of the rest of the delegates are divided proportionally. Therefore, if Huckabee gets enough of of the vote and the percentage is large enough he could take the majority of the delegates just like he did in Kansas. He received all 36 delegates even though that is not a winner take all state. He got all 36 because he had over 60% of the vote.

I’m so glad to see that Mike Huckabee is getting recognition for being conservative.

During the race, he was called too liberal and then he was too conservative.

Ask yourself “where did I get all of this negative information on Huckabee?”

If you care for the truth, check out MikeHuckabee.com

This is the problem with media and the internet, it seems that no one checks for facts. there is no accountability for making false statements. Take for example what McCain said about Romney… Do you think McCain was right? Do you really think Romney set a time table? But alot of people do just because its out there.

If you check the facts, you will certainly find that Mike Huckabee is a solid conservative that you will be proud to support.

Shelby,

You are, unfortunately, a bigot. Grow up and leave the good Governor alone. Makes me wonder if the reason you complain is because Mike reminds you of some problem you have to overcompensate for by being MORE vile than you say he is.

Grow up.

Comment by Russty

I have an idea! Let’s STOP being American. Here is how…..

Tell people how to vote!
Tell people that their vote doesn’t count!
End the nomination BEFORE all the votes are counted!
Tell people to get out, because you don’t like them!
Stop counting the votes when it doesn’t go our way!
Stop reporting the facts when they get in the way of our views!

The above is communism/socialism. If you like that!!! Vote for somebody OTHER than Mike Huckabee.

You jealous people who like to tear down good person! Shame on you! Look at how Huckabee won in his own state of ARKANSAS 60% more of the second candidate McCain. Romney in his own state Massachussets 20% more of the second candidate McCain. Common SENSE! that means Huckabee is love very much by his own state….What that means??? He’s been a very good governor to them. So stop wrong accusations you guys are just making yourself look like an ____??? Huckabee was just not given any, never a chance by the MEDIA and it is sad! All they say about Huckabee and comment they have to say is he is EVANGELICAL???What in the world that is???? They favor just candidate they like Romney then quit!!! They can’t say anything negative much about Huckabee so they just go…….oh he’s evangelical??? Isn’t that rediculous and sad??? not to support the right candidate!! Same other people here that obviously don’t see the picture! WAKE UP! for you guys long sleep!!! We all know well that he is the TRUE conservative among the candidates and we cannot go and accept the truth. And here is Hannity again and again.. saying…ROMNEY is more conservative…HOW COULD THAT BE?? I hope they end this and accept the truth that really Huckabee is the true conservative among all issues and candidates. They even cannot or even mention about Huckabee that he is the true conservative though caucus proves in the south which is most conservative states of all… voted Huckabee straight all the way!!! Remember people if Republican candidate don’t get the south we are done…..Yes McCain win big states which majority of people are DEMOCRATS! so….what will happen to him in the general election??? Sorry to say that if you don’t win the SOUTH and you are Republican candidate… that is not too good. Remember that is where Bush won…Look at the number of people voting for Republicans and Democrats…NOW if McCain is smart and he is your candidate he should talk to Huckabee and ask him to be his VP although I still like Huckabee to WIN. If I were McCain I will take the heat of whatever people say. McCain is a man that stands on what he believes in anyway he can answer to all of that. Romney obviously, people just don’t like him..So his supporters should get that out of their head!!! If you can’t win the south and if you spend millions of dollar and can’t even get closer to McCain delegate count then that tell him something very very clear! People just don’t like him!!! And even saying he is more conservative than Huckabee is rediculous! What makes them think that…Or they just saying it to put Huckabee down over no reason is rediculous and unbelievable! Votes don’t lie. The southern people said it right there and then! And so sorry to say just because you cannot find anything bad about Huckabee ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY IS HE IS EVANGELICAL! You know how rediculous that sound???Really if you want my opinion…McCain should be the one that is VP so he can secure the country and HUCKABEE the President for the economy and manage the country which he is good at. The problem with McCain is he never run any states. He might be good in securing our country but how about the other issues?? People are all leaning to McCain now just because people like security…but we have to remember we also have other problem…McCain being a vice president of Huckabee is more like it and sounds good to me…Now if Huckabee will be the vice president more likely he’ll do most of the work. But People will know how effective he will be and be President the next term. The decission is up to you people! All I know is that Huckabee can manage the country very good and McCain can secure the country good. But common sense if Huckabee will do most of the work as a VP might as well let him be the President and McCain the Vice. Remember people….If a person have little money and still in the race…that means he is a good manager and will be a good person to manage and operate the country economically, without spending too much out of peoples money…Again that’s common sense! The media, lean over wrong person and never right! I hope they get this analysis right this time and all people in this country…Watch all the candidates money and see how much they spend and that by common sense you will know who can do right for your country. Another thing, Huckabee supporters are not rich people like Romney, McCain, Hillary, Obama and others but Huckabee manage his money very well for a little amount compare to all this people…..Think and lets use common sense and not be partial…

Huckabee — McCain? Huckabee — McCain? Huckabee — McCain? Huckabee — McCain?

There is no REAL difference between the two; otherwise the Huck would have stood up against McCain in the debates. I don’t think voters are interested in minor cosmetic differences Huck. You had a chance to stand up for conservatives and you did not. Excuse me if I don’t stand up for you.

My fight is with McCain, your a speck on the radar. Got any good comebacks?

Think of this one. If Huckabee does lose, McCain and the other Dems in Congress will pack about 3 Supreme Court juctice seats with liberal selectees. There goes everything that conservatives have been fighting for since Reagan. The country will be run from the courts for the next 20-25 years.

Also, great narrative above, Beverly!

Mike Huckabee has tremendous character. I hate to say this but the supposed great speech made by Mitt was another bunch of bullspit. He dropped out because he knew that he could not win with Huckabee in. He did not want to keep pouring money in. If he was so in favor of uniting behind McCain then answer one question for me. Why did he suspend? Why didnt he drop out and push those delegates to McCain?

Simple answer. He wants you to vote Huckabee so the convention will be brokered. If he is in and has those delegates he has a small chance at the presidency. And for those of you that say Huck has no chance. A brokered convention is VERY possible and actually likely. Huck will win Texas, Mississippi, and North Carolina. If he takes Virginia tomorrow you will likely see a brokered convention. All he needs is 57% of the delegates from here on it. Texas itself is a 140 delegate winner take all. Conservaties should unite for the true conservatibe in Huckabee.

He’s pro-life, pro traditional marriage, Favors the fair tax, strong defense. Has a plan for immigration. Vote Huckabee.

List of the top seven reasons WHY YOU JUST CAN’T VOTE FOR MIKE HUCKABEE FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA:

7. He has an awful family. If you thought Billy Carter and Roger Clinton were embarrassing, wait until you get a load (word chosen advisedly) of David Huckabee. Mike Huckabee’s son first stepped into the limelight when he was fired from a Boy Scout camp for allegedly torturing a dog to death. While a student at Arkansas State University, David Huckabee was president of the Student Activities Board, and figured out a way to get the university to pay him $5,000 to “provide services.” This year he tried to board an airplane at the Little Rock airport while carrying a “forgotten” handgun. Huckabee’s wife Janet is no Dolly Madison; she’s often referred to in Arkansas as “Jethrine.” She was constantly in the news during Huckabee’s tenure. Active politically (she ran unsuccessfully for Arkansas Secretary of State), she once got in trouble for intimidating voters while volunteering at a polling place during an election in Little Rock. She apparently isn’t too impressed with her own son John Mark, comparing him to a radio station that “you don’t quite get.” In a move that seems to be plucked from the plot of a bad sitcom, Mrs. Huckabee went to work as the marketing director for an aluminum siding company while her husband was governor. Imagine this family in the White House, and imagine pining for Neil Bush and Donald Nixon.

6. He’s petty. Huckabee was constantly under scrutiny by the Arkansas press for questionable ethics during his term as governor. He was vindictive and hateful to the reporters who covered him accusing them of making up stories, and refusing to send routine press releases to those who printed or broadcast unfavorable reports.

5. He’s unqualified. Huckabee holds a degree in theology from Ouachita Baptist University, and attended Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. He spent ten years as governor of Arkansas, during which time his greatest achievement was to lose 100 pounds. He had a reputation among legislators as being difficult to work with. He has disowned the few decent accomplishments of his administration, since they involved small tax increases. In other words, he has done nothing to recommend him as Chief Executive of the most powerful country in the world.

4. He has no respect for the law. He flaunted the state’s Ethics Commission several times when they tried to slap him on the wrists for major infractions of election funding. He ignored the Freedom of Information Act on numerous occasions. On leaving office, he had the hard drives from the computers from his office destroyed. Here’s a random little blast from the past—a bit from the “10 Years Ago” feature in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette: “Gov. Mike Huckabee insisted that complaints made through a taxpayer-funded hotline aren’t subject to public disclosure despite an attorney general’s opinion that they are.” In other words, the law is whatever he says it is.

3. He’s a crook. Huckabee used the Arkansas State Police airplane as his personal jet and as campaign transport. He accepted thousands of dollars worth of gifts from supporters and hangers-on. He charged personal items to official accounts (google “Huckabee” and “Velveeta” and see what you get). When he left the governor’s mansion, he tried to take some of the furniture with him.

2. He’s a loose cannon. His term as governor was one embarrassment after another. He referred to Arkansas as a banana republic on the Don Imus show. He moved from the governor’s mansion to a triple-wide mobile home while the mansion was being renovated (he claimed it was to save money—it wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that the trailers were donated by political supporters). He’s a veritable font of offensive one-liners and off-color jokes. Just the guy to restore dignity of the United States.

1. He’s a liar. Of course, all politicians tend to bend the truth, but Huckabee seems to be pathological. In the most recent exposure, Huckabee claimed that he only raised taxes while governor because the court ordered it. Unfortunately for him, his speech to the legislature asking for new taxes was video-taped. Huckabee has stated that most of the founding fathers were clergymen, and that many of the current presidential candidates were atheists. His “Willie Horton” incident is his release from prison of convicted rapist Wayne Dumond, who subsequently raped and murdered a woman in Missouri. Huckabee has repeatedly lied about his role in Dumond’s case, even claiming that Bill Clinton was responsible for the release.

These are good reasons to vote for anyone besides Mike Huckabee, but there are countless others. He seems to think that cutting out sweets for children is a substitute for health-care reform. He keeps blathering on about replacing the income tax with a regressive, unworkable flat tax. Huckabee is an incompetent, glad-handing fool.

SHELBY: Ya know, if you don’t support Mike Huckabee, that’s fine. But, DO NOT spread a bunch of rhetoric garbage. First of all, you sound like a real, fine Christian yourself (judge not, lest ye be judged). 2nd of all: the “wedding registry” was set up for a house warming party that friends were throwing for his wife. Since “house warming” registries do not exist, it was placed under the wedding registry. This party was not announced to the general public and was a private gathering. Get your facts straight. 3rd: the judicial watch article is full of inuendos and no facts in the article. 4th: all the “so-called” ethics charges leveled against Gov. Huckabee were filed by Democrats AND were unfounded and no charges were filed. Perhaps, I could file an ethics charge on you!!! It doesn’t mean you did it, just that a charge was filed. (So much for innocent before proven guilty). And, please spare me with your “offensive” charges on the music titles - PLEASE LIGHTEN UP A BIT! Honestly. You are probably one those that go to church on Sundays and then do whatever the heck you feel like the rest of the week. I have an idea…instead of getting all your facts from blogs, how about your do your own research.

I bet if Mike Huckabee was debating McCain on national TV this week McCain would loose big time on Tuesday despite his many endorsements.

I’m a conservative. Whether a candidate thinks they are the best conservative in the world does not matter to me right now. I want to vote for the candidate that is above politics, humble, sincere, a unifier, consistent, and who is real to the core. That guy for me is Mike Huckabelieve.

You’re right, Susan. I am a miserable person who has been propagating hatred and falsehoods for weeks on these blogs. I’m just so angry that my candidiate (Gov. Romney) will not be the Republican nominee. If only he were the chosen one, my false religion would be validated and better able to dupe people into becoming followers of our non-prophets. Pray that, one day, I’ll see the light - spiritually and politically.

I wish I were not such a blind follower of an obviously selfish and corrupt minister. I really wish I had a mind of my own so I could see what is really happening. My beloved Huckabee is making such a bad name for himself daily. Because of his selfishness and huge ego, he will go down in history as a big joke. And oh, darn, I helped with that. Darn…….

By Michael Isikoff and Holly Bailey
NEWSWEEK
Updated: 2:51 PM ET Dec 15, 2007
As Mike Huckabee gains in the polls, the former Arkansas governor is finding that his record in office is getting more scrutiny. One issue likely to get attention is his handling of a sensitive family matter: allegations that one of his sons was involved in the hanging of a stray dog at a Boy Scout camp in 1998. The incident led to the dismissal of David Huckabee, then 17, from his job as a counselor at Camp Pioneer in Hatfield, Ark. It also prompted the local prosecuting attorney— bombarded with complaints generated by a national animal-rights group—to write a letter to the Arkansas state police seeking help investigating whether David and another teenager had violated state animal-cruelty laws. The state police never granted the request, and no charges were ever filed. But John Bailey, then the director of Arkansas’s state police, tells NEWSWEEK that Governor Huckabee’s chief of staff and personal lawyer both leaned on him to write a letter officially denying the local prosecutor’s request. Bailey, a career officer who had been appointed chief by Huckabee’s Democratic predecessor, said he viewed the lawyer’s intervention as improper and terminated the conversation. Seven months later, he was called into Huckabee’s office and fired. “I’ve lost confidence in your ability to do your job,” Bailey says Huckabee told him. One reason Huckabee cited was “I couldn’t get you to help me with my son when I had that problem,” according to Bailey. “Without question, [Huckabee] was making a conscious attempt to keep the state police from investigating his son,” says I. C. Smith, the former FBI chief in Little Rock, who worked closely with Bailey and called him a “courageous” and “very solid” professional.

Huckabee called Bailey’s account “totally untrue” and described him as a “bitter” exemployee. “I asked him to resign because he had so alienated the entire state police,” he said. “It had nothing to do with my son.” Brenda Turner, Huckabee’s then chief of staff, and Kevin Crass, the Huckabee family lawyer, also disputed Bailey’s account, although both acknowledged talking to him about the dog killing. “I asked him, ‘Is it normal for the state police to … investigate something that happened at a Boy Scout camp?’ ” Turner says. “We wanted the same treatment that anybody else would get.” (Animal cruelty in Arkansas is a misdemeanor, not a felony.)

The details of the incident remain murky. The Animal Legal Defense Fund got an anonymous fax that summer alleging that David Huckabee and another youth had been involved in the hanging of a stray dog at the camp on July 11. A local animal-rights activist, Joyce Hillard, later contacted the camp director. Notes of Hillard’s report to the defense fund read, “Boys confessed & were fired. Dir. is making excuses, saying dog was sic & boys were putting him out of his misery.” (The director told NEWSWEEK only that a stray dog was “put down” and that the counselors were fired for violating the Scout credo to be “kind.”) The father of the other counselor was quoted by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette in August 1998 as saying that his son found the dog “hung over a limb and choking.” David Huckabee did not respond to requests for comment. (In April of this year, he was arrested—and paid a fine—when he forgot to remove a loaded gun from his carry-on luggage at Little Rock airport.) His father told NEWSWEEK that his son did not engage in “intentional torture.” “There was a dog that apparently had mange and was absolutely, I guess, emaciated.” A campaign official says David “regrets” the incident and notes that he later made Eagle Scout.

After years of being a devoted FoxNews viewer, I am done. How can the whole bunch of us, conservatives that is, complain about McCain AND NOT stand behind Huckabee??????????? Of all people, I can’t believe that Hannity can’t support him.

Huckabee did not raise taxes……he raised tax revenue. We’ve been propping up Bush for 7 years because he “raised” tax revenue via his tax cuts……and yet, our own party pundits are bashing Huckabee for employing the same philosophy during his reign as Gov. or Arkansas.

More importantly, all of us who reside outside of Arkansas had been cracking “Arkansas” jokes for the last 50-60 years regarding their lack of education, lack of infrastructure (roads/sewer systems) and he performed admirable at substantially raising the bar in all of those areas for the people of Arkansas. Someone had to raise tax revenue to raise the standard of living and the business environment in Arkansas and he did it.

He did not raise taxes!!!! He raised revenue just as Pres. Bush has done for us!

Although I cannot defend Bush’s fiscal conservatism and out-of-control spending, I can say proudly as a Republican that we believe in raising tax revenue by letting the people have more of their earning to either spend or invest as they choose, rather than the government taking our earnings as using them for what they decide are the best “entitlement programs” to spend it on.

We don’t have to settle for McCain. Their is an alternative who’s not a “freak” (Ron Paul). Support Huckabee…….he can win. My hope is for a brokered convention. He’ll take the nomination hands down and certainly will perform better again Hillary or Barack than McCain.

If you’re a FoxNews viewer and a Republican, you have a moral obligation to support your own beliefs, and those are best represented through Huckabee!!!!

What I really want to know is why are Huckabee supporters all up in arms about this endorsement?

When the Heritage Foundation and others like Weyrich were supporting Romney- it was always that big bad rich folks who got their money off the backs of the working folks and are controlled by Bain Capital! But now, you welcome it????????

And gee, if someone is stupid and blind enough to have endorsed one of those cultist Mormons and now turns and endorses Huckabee, doesn’t that either take away from the endorsment or put Huckabee in the same boat? This Weyrich guy must be on something, or are you just going to claim he repented?

See- that’s the problem with putting forth the arguments you did before- now you look like fools or hypocrites.

Either reject the endorsment, or admit you were wrong in the first place.

Wow Huckabee is on a roll! Can you belive that he beat MCain so bad in Kansas? How many people voted in the Kansas Republican primary? About 20,000! There are about 750,000 reg. Republicans in Kansas. Why didn’t more of them come out to support McCain or Huckabee? Could it be that they know what Mitt Romney, John MCCain, and the rest of America already knows? YES!!! John MCCain is going to win the republican nomination for President!!!

I know you Huckabee supporters think Huck could win if it goes to a brokered convention, but it won’t! Even if it does Huck will still be the third choice. Just because he is clinging on and making a fool of himself and his supporters the facts haven’t changed.
