Sen Clinton’s team has launched a full court press to shame Barack Obama into agree to a series of one-on-one debates in the run-up to March 4 primaries in Ohio and Texas.
Clinton’s campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle sent a letter to her counterpart David Plouffe with the Obama campaign, saying she was “disappointed” that Obama rejected doing more debates. “I think we can do better and so does Hillary,” she wrote.
And in a series of daily talking points for surrogates and supporters on the topic, the campaign says Obama “has refused to join Hillary in Ohio for a conversation about making a difference in people’s lives.” The campaign is tying Obama’s refusal to electability, saying “candidates that aren’t ready to debate Hillary one-on-one aren’t ready to debate Sen. McCain.”
Stories that she’s low on funds — loaning her campaign $5 million from the Clinton family’s personal fortune and asking senior staff to go without pay — have fueled speculation that the hefty debate schedule is devised to give her free media appearances in these important, and sometimes expensive, TV markets.
Obama has said he won’t allow the Clinton campaign to dictate his schedule, but the campaign says they will make a decision regarding debates very soon.
Read the campaign’s letter and talking points after the break.

Campaign Manager
Obama for President
Chicago, IL
Dear David:
Congratulations again on your victories Tuesday night. As Senator Obama
declared, it was a great evening for Democrats.
One of the things I’ve always appreciated about the Democratic Party is
its willingness to engage the toughest issues facing our country, even
if we don’t always agree on how best to solve them.
After seven years of a Bush administration that has left the economy
struggling and our health care system in crisis, Americans are certainly
facing their fair share of challenges and deserve to hear how the
candidates for the nomination will address them.
As such, I was disappointed to see that Senator Obama rejected the idea
of having more debates given the fact that he and Senators Clinton have
had only a single one-on-one debate. I think we can do better and so
does Hillary.
Senator Clinton believes voters should have more than one opportunity to
see the candidates discuss the issues and has accepted five debates
between now and March 4th from CNN, MSNBC, WJLA, ABC and Fox News.
To that end, we hope Senator Obama will join Senator Clinton for a
debate a week beginning this weekend. I’m sure we can find a suitable
place to meet on the campaign trail. There’s too much at stake and the
issues facing the country are too grave to deny voters the opportunity
to see the candidates up close.
As Senator Obama has said, “In an era when Americans are rightfully
skeptical about the quality of our politics, let us set an example
[they] can be proud of and give them the kind of campaign they deserve.”
We couldn’t agree more.
Best wishes,
Patti Solis Doyle

Hillary Clinton for President
Daily Talking Points — February 7, 2008
READY TO DEBATE ONE-ON-ONE
* Hillary is ready to debate Sen. Obama one-on-one and discuss the significant challenges America faces, which is why this morning Hillary’s campaign manager, Patti Solis Doyle, wrote the Obama campaign urging that the candidates debate.
* Hillary has accepted five debate invitations between now and March 4 — a debate a week in the upcoming primary and caucus states.
* Sen. Obama has not agreed to any of the debates — and his campaign has refused to join Hillary in Ohio for a conversation about making a difference in people’s lives.
* Hillary knows one-on-one debates are the best way for millions of people to learn about the candidates and compare their experience.
* After seven years of President Bush, it is critically important that Democrats nominate someone who is ready to defeat Sen. McCain and the Republicans in November.
* Candidates that aren’t ready to debate Hillary one-on-one aren’t ready to debate Sen. McCain.
* Sen. Obama has said that if he and Hillary have “specific differences with respect to economic policy, [he]‘d be happy to have those debates.”
* Hilary is the only candidate with a plan to end the housing crisis and help people keep their homes. Hillary would impose a 90-day moratorium on foreclosures and at least a five year freeze on interest rates for subprime mortgages.
* Candidates that aren’t ready to debate Hillary on the economy aren’t ready to turn our economy around.
* With people worried about their loved ones in Iraq and their health care in America, it is essential that Democrats nominate someone who has been tested and is ready to deliver real solutions on day one.
* Hillary hopes Sen. Obama changes his mind and offers millions of busy Americans a weekly opportunity to hear the candidates debate.

It sounds like she is putting a full court press on Obama. Good. He speaks in non specifics. He is a great orator but he has yet to prove he is anything but another part of the Chicago Daly machine. The same machine that is helping bankrupt the state of Illinois with their need for bailouts. I hear she embarassed him on the Senate floor yesterday by laughing about his Kennedy endorsement that did not help him win Massachusetts.
Obama needs to step up and discuss, not pontificate…….he needs to defend his PRESENT …non votes…lack of committment, willingness to water down a bill to require reporting radioactive leaks into drinking water and be more than a preacher like mesmerizing talker…..I think he is scary and the large support is kinda creepy….based on wishes and hopes to be like JFK…..even JFK was not that fictional….he was real, made some boo boos and almost got us blown up….those badies out there are just hoping he will win as they know they would have someone naive about the real dangers of terrorists and the economy. Hillary is tough….nothing wrong with that….and she does have stamina and follow thru and does already work with both sides of the aisle.
Funny how her comments are thought of as curt…but his are cleaver…..the press will not let him by on a pass if he has to go against McCain….and altho I would like to bring the troops home very soon…..I also do not want to run away from our committment that does impact us in the future and our overall safety. I would vote for McCain before Obama
she can’t serious! Anyone could debate and beat McCain. Most every head to head poll shows obama performing better against mccain than her. She is polarizing and will surely give most all the independent vote to mccain if he is indeed the nominee. McCain is a sour old man and if placed in comparison to obama in a debate it won’t even be a contest. Clinton needs to quit trying to create the roles and just go out and campaign. Yeah she seems good at debating but i don’t see anyone new running to her corner when they hear her speak. She has a can’t do attitude.
Regarding her 90 day moratorium on foreclosures–its ridiculous. I got an idea for people: keep up to date on your house payments and they won’t foreclose. all ninety days will do is delay the inevitable and damage the banking industry further. Next thing you know she’ll be offering to speed up the printing up money and give everyone in america a hillary-bate. All free money does is increase inflation, deficit, debt, and makes the economy more recession prone. Hillary doesn’t understand economics she understands soviet style socialism.
yesterday KB told me to look at the runners web sites to ehlp me deside who to vote for. I did that so thank you KB. but i see both sides telling why not to vote for some one else and not why I should vote for them. this is all so negativ. cant some one say to me why any democraft or republicun is good to vote for? Like is said yesterday i have been voting for democrafts but all they do is promise and the black poeple still have it bad. thats why i will vote for the republicun this time. why not?
l’ aquisha, both parties don’t deliver. I’m conservative in ideals, but i remain independent because all i see is continual bickering. I’m hoping for a romney nomination but its looking slimmer and slimmer so i might find myself in obamas camp simply because he won’t alienate anyone and won’t continue the polarity like mccain or clinton would. He has a can do attitude and might just bring us a new era of politics. Clinton or McCain will only continue the same-ol’, same-ol’; why, because they’ve been thriving under the status quo for quite some time now. They don’t have motivation to change and don’t motivate others to change either. I’ll gladly take my chances on obama if romney doesn’t pan out!
THATS FUNNY, MY VOTE GOES FOR OBAMA. O.K SO MY CHOICE IS MCCAIN, HILLARY OR BARACK…. HMMMM I WAS BORN 1970, I CALL IT THE REAGAN KNIGHT GENERATION.. VOTE FOR A NEW WAY OF THINKING…..VOTE OBAMA… LET’S SEE HOW SATURDAY GOES
Hillary is clearly looking free media airtime because her campaign is broke. Debates are healthy, however not for the reason the Clinton machine wants it for. They will stop at nothing to win, which is not good for the USA. Obama should debate but 4 times is just ridiculous since they have had 18 debates already. What else is there for her to debate about? Probably her health care plan that has the possibility of garnishing employee’s wages.
Let him talk to the Voters! Enough Debates! She is desperate. People know better.
She needs to go away.
Before she destroys the Party!
I wish he would debate because I am getting a feeling this whole Obama thing is like a CULT.
People crying, screaming, fainting and not even understanding or caring about what the issues are. When we went to vote the other night all these young kids voting and yelling. I asked them
why they are voting for Obama - They said we just want him to win - we don’t care why!!!!!
What is going on???? Stop and take a breath of fresh air. This is not a game.
HRC really pulls out all stops - she cannot stand not to be in control.. Who is she of little money and intergrity to dictat or attempt to shame another candidate to play her game> She should “caucus” and borrow more money from the Clinton warchest - after all Bill just got a $100 millino - would be money well spent. HRC needs to stop having “temper tantrums” and sending her minions to do her dirty work. HRC has no right to dictate - even if she is by her and Bill’s estimation entitled to change the rules to benefit her (i.e. MI & FL) - after all she is owed the nomination because of her”35 years ” of expereince.
Romney dropped out for the good of the Party! Watch Clinton lose the next primaries and she STILL won’t drop out! She’s hanging in till April ! What a joke.
I think my helth is my issue not goverments. why should I pay for some ones helth accept my own? theres to much goverment in our lifes.
Debates help people like me decide who to support. They help those who aren’t already staunch supporters of one side or another. My support of Clinton was decided on debates. Many other people decide by debates as well.
So if Obama plays the card of “No, my schedule!” then he may very well see some backlash from those who aren’t decided. Especially if Clinton trumpets this like she should. She can end up painting him as a candidate of pre-planned, scripted speeches while she’s the candidate that can discuss anything on the fly — and relate that to decision making.
This would be a bad move. Not as bad as McCain skipping out on the economic package this morning, but still pretty bad.
A word of caution….it seems from browsing the net today, that the Clinton “SPIN MACHINE” is looking to call us Obama Supporters a “CULT”! See the depths these People will sink to? They say we are mentally ill! Brain-washed! I am sickened.
the “CULT” thing is a way to get others to discount our Movement. It’s a way to stop others from joining the process. Anything to stand in the way of true Democracy! She will walk on our backs to get to the White House!
And the “cult” thing would really scare the elderly, I would think. Clintons main demographic. Make sure they don’t follow. More Politics of FEAR. Same old, same old…
HUH?!
NOT A BIG SURPRISE Barack Hussein Obama IS RAISING MONEY
ALL THE TIME I GUESS, IT PAYS OFF HAVING MAMA OPRAH,AT
YOUR BED SIDE ALL THE TIME IN CASE, HE MIGHT RUN LOW
OF TLC I MEAN CASH, HERE’S 5MIL, 10MIL, 20MIL, MUST BE NICE BEING OPRAH NEW, BOY TOY…HUH!!!!!!!
You are right-it is a laughable, crying, demoralizing cult—-Obama-you go away, and take your money, Oprah and the media with you.
Obama the “rock star” cano’t hold his own in multiple dabetes 1:1 with Hillary, and he knows it! He’s a fake and deals in rhetoric and loves to hear himself talk. That’s all he has, though, is talk. To expose himself to more debates with Hillary will EXPOSE how HOLLOW he really is and how READY and CAPABLE SHE is!!!! He’s forming a cultism-like following of those who are day-dreaming and aviodiong the realities of what it akes to lead this country in the right direction. Obama needs to back off, back out and bow out!!! Hillary WILL WIN!!!
CULT = FEAR.
HOPE = CHANGE TO ACHEIVE
I do not fear, I hope. I hope for a better tomorrow, I hope for unity and peace. Obama inspires people to dream and hope, knowing that we have to work hard to achieve that American dream. Don’t you dare call Obama movement a cult, to do so, is to disrespect the millions of strong and good hearted Americans who yearn for the day when a President can once again have people believe that they are the government and can bring change and not the lobbyist and special interest Group. Don’t you dare call Obama movement a cult; to do is to attempt to tell the millions of American that people cannot be united so that congress and the senate can work together to improve the lives of the poor and the disenfranchised.
what are poeples thots on the right direction?
I agree with Obama’s position on debating and debating. How many times must we hear the same political positions by the same candidates. I intend on voting Republican, yet am still undecieded about my candidate, however the fact that scares me and keeps me awake at night is that every single candidate running has solutions to problems (or what they percieve is the problem) but none follow the actual causal chain towards a solution.
For Instance: The health care crisis! Health care cost are spiraling out of control and the number of uninsured is at a dangerous level, however the solution is not lower health care cost and pass the cost on to working citizens, the solution is much deeper than that. The Doctors are the source of the solution. Doctors pay an extreme amount of money for malpractice insurance, which could be lowered by a national law capping rewards to patients in lawsuits. (Lets face it, medicine is NOT an exact science and anyone who believes that needs to further investigate the principals of medicine) Capping rewards loweres the amount of liability incured by malpractice insurers, lowers expenses by doctors, which inturn can lower the cost of visits (for both the patient and health insurance provider) which inturn makes the health care provider concentrate on medicine vs. concentrate on paying bills. Another solution coupled with reducing malpractice lawsuit insurance, is reducing the number of actual malpractice lawsuits. Less lawsuits, with less payouts = lower cost.
Finally the best solution of all is to get Americans out from infront of thier 900+ channels of cable and from stopping at unhealthy eateries and get the american obesity issue under control which inturn will improve the overall health of the country (Thus lowering health care cost), but what political contender is going to tell that to the Health insurance companies sending them money and the voters they need.
So with that in mind, we don’t need debates that result in the voicing of the same opinion. We don’t need politicians that have solutions to surface problems! We need problem solvers not afraid of pissing some people off as a means to a larger and better end!
OBAMA,,,,,,,HAS LIST OF 3MILLION PEOPLE OF KERRY ,,,,FROM 2004 THEY DONATE TO OBAMA ,,,,WHEN KERRY EMAILS THEM
OBAMA ,,,IS TALK THE TALK ,,,,HILLARY IS ,,,WALK THE WALK,,,
it seems hillary has opened her tent to racists, sexists, and bigots. Judging from the anti-obama comments people only like hillary for one of the following reasons:
shes a woman
she only encourages “realistic” goals (aka status quo)
her middle name isn’t hussein
her movement doesn’t have “cult like” enthusiasm (she just can’t generate excitement)
good job hillary. you’ve proved you are all about progressivism as long as its the same as yesterday. i applaud you and your supporters who only dislike obama because people believe in him, he has a muslim middle name, oh and he’s standing in the way of the first woman president.
i hope i see a woman president in my liftetime just not this one.
HE SHOULD DEBATES ,,,AND ,,,AND NO ,,SHOW UP ,,,,AND SAY ,,,,,,,,,,,,,PRESENT ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
What is trully frightening here is how the media is pushing for Obama and spinning everything he does while crucifying HRC for everything without merit or equity in reporting. He is a terrific speaker and has even better speech writters. He is never off “message”, by calculation, or has any unscripted moments. I can complete his sentances in virtually every speech as it is a reguritation of the same. Besides the excitement over the rhetoric, there is no substance under the style. All sizzle no steak. He is being heralded in the media because they KNOW he doesn’t have a chance in hell to knock of McCain in the general election. He will NEVER get by the Republican smear machine. This sell job and obvious bias with “packaging” in reporting may be the biggest ruse since George Bush running for a second term based on ” a lingering and escalating war and security risks from abroad” He wont agree to debate schedule bacause he can’t bring his soap box. He will actually be confined to the issues. Lastly, his Iraq arguement about being against the war in the first place is weak and this is why : The information given to congress through reports from the CIA and Colin Powell himself only proved to be erronous well after the war had begun. To vote “no” for the war ( and being in the minority with his senate peers) given the series of information they were given would seem to be shortsighted and naive at the time. Also, at the time the American public was well behind the troops going into war. Then to say, I never wanted them there and will bring them out in 16 months is as dangerous and naive as his first “no” vote.
Hilary is just trying to get free air time. Where did all her money go? Have donations from “questionable” donors dried up? Is someone investigating her campaign finances?
Bill’s has more money than she does. Why doesn’t he “put his money where his mouth is?”
If Obama can’t stand up to a woman and debate, how does he expect to win the Presidency and if he does, how does he expect to stand up to world leaders and our enemies?
To Obama supporters, remember Jim Jones, the cult leader? Good, now do your research on the candidates and watch them debate the issues that are important to Americans, then make a decision who to support.
Our future and place in the world is too important. Vote carefully.
There has already been like 18 debates. Enough, Barack has decided that the best course of action for his campaign is to meet people in person and explain to them his position on all of the relavent issues without her cackling in the background. If she truly want people to hear her point of view on issues then she’s more than free to buy more time on hallmark or what-ever channel to express her opinion. She has no right to ride on Obama’s coat tail to get attention. For far too long too many people have been caving in to Queen Hillary giving her what-ever she wants.
She decided to count Florida and Mich after everyone agreed it wouldn’t count, now all of a sudden she’s planning on ramming that down our throats. Then, she ran out of cash so now it’s Obama’s problem if no one wants to come out to hear her?????? Enough of this, the fact of the matter is that SHE doesn’t call the shots in this election. The rules were setup in the beginning, now stick to them.
If Obama was dodging an agreed to obligation then I would join the chorus of mindless dumies who think he’s scared because he won’t give in to her way. This is the problem why she won’t be able to be an effective leader, she simply has her minions issue what she wants and offers nothing in return. What kind of deal is that? Where is any enticement to make Obama consider this a win-win situation? She needs to learn how to bargain, she needs to learn how to work with people instead of trying to embarrass him into giving her what she wants.
Dorothy, don’t worry. She just got $4 million in 1 day from a whole slew of online donations. She’s asking for $2 million more to make it an even $6 million. It’s likely they will exceed that as well.
$100 million of her money is saved for if she wins the general cycle. The rest has lasted her from beginning until now with very little fund raising. This is the first time since the primaries began that I’ve received a donation request from her.
Obama has, I believe, asked many times for money. In fact, he asked for a matching $5 million just a day after asking for around $6 million. Nothing is wrong with that, but it shows that the money is certainly flowing for both Democrats.
i don’t blame Obama for not wanting to debate Clinton so soon after the L.A. debate. She becomes very agitated if something is said that she does not like-she insists upon getting a larger share of the time because she talks on and on. There were no rules in that debate-there should be rules for both candidates to abide by. On the experience thing, does everyone know that our greatest president,Abraham Lincoln, had less experience than Obama? We should familiarize ourselves with history.Remember it does repeat itself.
How is it that Hillary’s experience prior to her Senate gig counts……but Obama’s time doesn’t count? The fact of the matter is that with his State Senate time and his U.S. Senate time together he has more political time served Hillary’s. Someone please explain that one.
I love reading HRC supporters posting the same things. Your arguments are baseless.
Enough with the PRESENT vote thing. people with far better political minds than ours have already stated that it is a procedural thing in the IL senate. Besides 130 of over 4000 it’s a moot point. so please stop it.
People continue to say that they don’t know where he stands on the issues, he’s a democrat HRC and BHO are pretty much on the same page, the only difference is BO won’t make you buy health insurance.
I keep hearing that Obama has Kerry’s fund raising phone book. Who is Kerry compared to Bill Clinton? You mean to tell me that Kerry has more contacts than the former POTUS
Why is it she thinks she gets to make all the rules, THEN…….decide if SHE will abide by them?????
so much talk about money. what about the country? whats the result for the country if clinton or obama win or if macain wins?
how can Hillbill want 5 debates?she only has couple of outfits that fit ,unless bill has couple of old intern dresses !!
Been there, done that - any more debate would be an exercise in futility, at this point.
As any analyst worth his or her salt will tell you, strategically the Clinton’s campaign’s push for debate has nothing to do with “discussing the issues.” Not, at this point. It’s not like Hillary Clinton has something else to say. Or anything new.
The Clinton’s campaign is hoping to drown Obama’s novelty and vigor into the lack of variety of a routine of wearisome monotonous debates.
It’s not about winning a debate on the issues (I don’t think a debate on the issues is winnable by any candidate anymore.) The thing here is that Hillary Clinton doesn’t need to win a debate, a series of debates “going nowhere” is all she needs. In terms of perception, strange as it may be, psychologically because of name recognition and the eminence of Bill Clinton in the Democratic party, Hillary Clinton is still the “incumbent,” and despite his phenomenal success, Barack Obama is still the “challenger.” In a situation like that, if you have a series of debates “going nowhere,” it ends-up playing into the hands of the perceived “incumbent,” and erodes at the freshness of the “challenger.”
If the last debate is any indication, a series of debates “going nowhere” is what we would be heading towards, here. On a one on one debate, the first candidates perceived as going “negative,” looses. Hillary Clinton knows it, and she is counting on it. Clinton’s campaign has Barack Obama pretty much declawed in term of how free he would be in confronting Hillary Clinton, face to face, on her record (which is his perceived role as a “challenger”) without him risking being villainized as a result (this is the trap set for him): The minute he appears “critical,” she’ll be the “victim,” he’ll be a “cad.” And her campaign will play it up, using the gender card too, if they can manage it.
So this is a kind of a catch 22. If Barack Obama challenges Hillary Clinton, he’ll be a cad. If he doesn’t, he’ll just look weak.
Interesting tactic by the Clinton team. I’m sure Obama will appease and dominate any and all debates with Clinton but if he somehow does not…and Clinton makes it as the nominee then it’s McCain for me!!! Good Ol Bill has already disgraced the White House…chills me to think what Hillary would do.
L’ Aquisha, if Clinton or Obama wins…some really much-needed change.
If McCain wins? Some much-needed drafting, probably.
Hillary is wanting free press. Obama has more than enough money to campaign in the upcoming primary’s and Hillary is using her own money. Good for Obama I believe he shouldn’t let her campaign dictate his schedule. Obama is one that can bet McCain. Obama voted against the war but Hillary can’t even admit she was wrong. The people are behind the soldiers, just because someone believes that enough is enough doesn’t mean that we don’t support our troops or our country. Our country is going in the wrong direction and we need a change. That person is Obama, he stand up against the Clinton’s and he will stand up for our country. Vote Obama….
How many debates are enough? 30, 40? They’ve already had 18. Hillary is the known name. Obama isn’t known nearly as well. In every state that he’s went to and spend any amount of time, he does much better. He needs to go with his strengths, Hillary is pulling for hers. Its strategy on both sides. Besides, Obama now has a tactical advantage in money. Why would he want to even the playing field by giving her free press? I know she wouldn’t do it for him if the roles were reversed.
Hillary has the biggest celebrity endorsement any candidate could get. Her husband. She just needs to get out and work hard like Obama.
Jeeeesh, who would want to hear that cackling in the background when you are trying to explain to people how you plan on making their lives better??? It’s best he arranges his events where people show up by the thousands. Too bad they show up for her events by the small 100’s.
We don’t need anymore debates, half the country has already voted for their candidate. She has had every opportunity to debate issues and failed do to do so. She had this irresponsible idea that this race would be over by now and she was wrong and that showed poor judgment on her part not to mention the fact that she didn’t spend wisely. Now that she is caught in a tight race and is low on money does she finally agree to debate on Fox to just get free coverage. If you want to get your word out go to the people and talk them, why do we need to come to you?
Hillary underestimated her opponent not to mention underestimating the American people.
By the way I hear Obama has raised 7 million since Tuesday alone, so the question now is just how much of her money is willing to spend to stay in the race?
Here’s a thought for Barack:
IF - Hillary can submit 5 issues which have never been addressed by a debate in this cycle, then I would agree to the debate.
We already know whether she prefers diamonds or pearls, why she thinks people LIKE Barack and not her and the other softball questions given to her to fill time.
Quit being lazy and get out to meet people like Barack does. Maybe they will like you, maybe they won’t. Getting people together to see her should not be his problem.
thankyou jay. what does change mean and what does drafting mean?
obama doesnt want to debate her because it makes him look unknowledgable, he stutters and is not sharp at all. this guy should be given the key to rule the free world, you got to be kidding me. im unbias an i see this loud and clear. if you dont like clinton give good reasons not the same rhetoric scripted by the press. obama will be a horrible president very weak the guys far too liberal. with clinton you know whats instore, for all you youngsters a balanced budget. this election is so canned the press wont put a finger on this guy, thats going to back fire in the general. people will want to hear specifics not i didnt vote against the war, by the way the surge is working. what do you think will happen when he stutters on his answer to the question if 9/11 happens again what would you do. all the rah rah and young supporters wont withstand the voters running to vote mccain. its simple when did a toss of the dice trump proven metal, experience, facts, common sense and planning. by the way why is it that the obama voter wont vote for clinton, but expect the clinton voters to vote for obama if he wins the nomination, sounds childish to me…..
There is a huge difference in how these two candidates are campaigning.
As Senator Obama has said, “In an era when Americans are rightfully
skeptical about the quality of our politics, let us set an example
[they] can be proud of and give them the kind of campaign they deserve.”
Only Obama believes in a fair and positive campaign. Hillary will say what ever it takes to get elected. I have a couple examples.
1. She suggested to a group of Black church goers the Government adopt a “Baby Bond” policy. The baby bond would gaurentee every child born in the U.S. recieve $5000. Where would that money come from? We already have enough orphans in the U.S. We already have enough people having kids they can’t afford or support on their own. Hillary wants to give people more incentive to have more babies?
2. When Hillary was speaking to a group of Latino supporters in CA, she told them “NO WOMAN IN THIS COUNTRY IS ILLEGAL!” So if you’re a woman and make it in to this country illegally, now you’re not illegal anymore? We already have enough of a problem of pregnant illegals comming across the border to have their kids here in the U.S. so their kids are citizens, and the get benefits. When Hillary says this its like extending an open invitation. No wonder she’s getting big support from Latinos.
So does Hillary really believe in these policies? I hope not. Otherwise she’s just saying whatever she has to say to get elected. Either way Hillary is not right for this country. Were not gonna be controlled by fear and lies anymore!!
Hey NYC,
You are quite right indeed. With HRC we do know exactly what we’ll be getting if she was president. And that is 4 more years of bitter washington gridlock. Name 1 Republican who would work with her? Name 2 and I’ll vote for her with you.
Hey by the way. If Hillary is supposed to be so good with the economy, why has she already spent the $100 million she’s raised, and now loaned her self another $5 million? Is that how she plans on helping our economy? She just issued her campaign a $5 million dollar “stimulus package”! If you can’t manage a $100 million dollar CAMPAIGN, how can you manage a multi Trillion dollar U.S. economy?
That dosen’t say alot for her fiscal responsibility!!
Been there, done that - any more debate would be an exercise in futility, at this point.

I am continually amazed and dissapointed by Senator Clintons tactics. I started out as a Clinton supporter, but her incessant whining, bellyaching, negativity, and apparent willingness to say anything or bend any rule to win has turned me into a staunch Obama supporter. I resisted automatically supporting him because I wanted to hear hime myself and listen to his message (looking for substance) I was not only impressed by his honesty sincerity, and enthusiasim, I was blown away by his grasp of the problems we face as a nation and his proposed solutions. I do not understand why his proposals get so little media coverage, and Senator Clinton is portrayed as the candidate who has the “fully fleshed out” agenda.
aahhhh, he won’t debate you so you try to put him on the spot by telling the public???? Pooor old picked on Hillary. Always the victim, and it’s never your fault. It’s his fault that you spent all your money trying to match his commercials exposing your wicked plans. It’s his fault you had to buy an hour on the hallmark channel when only scant (paid) audiences attended.
I say we run him out of office and out of government for being mean to you. Shame on the big bad mean man.
It ain’t about the campaign. It’s about executing the executive duties of the presidency.
Obama has the most far left voting record in the senate for 2007, so we can reasonably conclude his national defense posture, immigration posture, and fiscal posture will be weak relative to historical presidential benchmarks. Well that ain’t my idea of good change nor does it relate to my vision for America.
Clinton will raise taxes to perpetuate and expand the welfare state - that’s detrimental to basic American precepts like innovation, personal responsibility, and national pride. Ain’t that why those folks from England rowed over here several centuries ago to get away from oppressive taxation? Also, Clinton doesn’t respect people - she uses them. I dont’ like that either.
Got to have vision man. Not keyed up about the field this time at all. Going with the lesser of the evils. Republican this time for this man. Same ol same ol ain’t gonna cut it with the Democrats promising the world to the blacks and never delivering - I resent being used. Have been since the 60s by these folks.
I can appreciate Isaac’s comments, but I don’t share them. I’m an Obama man because I believe him and Hillary have good ideas, it does come down to execution. If they had identical ideas I would still have to roll with Obama because as it was mentioned earlier, no one on the opposite side of the isle would work with her meaning any idea no matter how brilliant has a zero chance of getting to the president’s desk to be signed. She basically would be a hinderance to any progress I could imagine.
But hey, that’s just me.
For Me too and the other Obama/Clinton supporters,
I like Isaac’s points. So What are some of the good ideas the dems have that have you all enraptured? I don’t see that in this thread. You are all advocating bigger government. How is that a good thing?
Penny— You fit right in by being an Obama supporter. You keep running your mouth and don’t know when to stop. You sound just like him. Obama won’t debate Hillary because he can’t debate. He has to have someone write him a speech that sounds more and more like a church sermon. He’s boring. He talks about change, but he doesn’t talk about how he’s gonna change things. Just about everything he has brought to the table, Hillary has already done brought it. He just copies what she does and changes a few things. He’s inexperienced also. He will not ever get my vote. The reason why people have jumped on his band-wagon is because he’s talking about a bunch of stuff people want to hear. WAKE UP!!! He’s not gonna do anything, he’s a rookie. I dont want a rookie leading this country. Who is Barack Hussein Obama anyway? Where did he come from? What idiot picked him from the field and groomed him into this blabbering machine!!!
i see Isacs points. they make better sents than what other poeple are saying for clinton and obama. things in life cost so much now why would we want to pay more for it with more taxes?
It’s like this Gloria, (and I’m glad we can have a civil discussion) the idea that lingers in my mind is the universal healthcare thing. No republican is on board with that right now but that’s ok for now. If you look at our country right now, we need to end the war in Iraq and bring our troops home. We could use that money for better use here to improve our own faltering economy and our own wellbeing. That’s just for starters.
I don’t believe that over the long haul universal healthcare will be a good idea, but lets see where it goes because so many of our fellow citizens and infant and seniors really need it now.
How’s that answer?
and like I said earlier, Hillary (and Nate) are too busy screaming to stop and converse with people. If they spoke instead of shouting, maybe more people would be interested in their point of view.
yeah, I agree. The war in Iraq is bleeding our finances dry. Right now if you look you would notice that oversees our dollar is worth less and still declining. We have to build up our economy before it’s too late.
I have watched Fox News in the past. (When I was basically young and not well informed) I wished that Clinton would have been stronger in her initial response of not responding to Bill O’Reilly. It shows that she can be bullied into doing something rather than standing her ground. So maybe she isn’t strong enough to handle anything. I challenge Bill O’Reilly to actually think before he speaks. Your network needs to attempt to be fairer in reporting facts not opinions.
This is a response to an article in the Washington Post.
This war has an ungodly price tag on it. I can’t wait till we vote here.
Obama - 08
Couldn’t have said it better. End this war!!
Obama - 08
Remember people of the Clinton campaign.
She borrowed 5 mil. Where do you think she will get her “borrowed” money back from? From the people that are putting money into her campaign now. I’m sure she is charging interest too! She won’t lose anything once she loses the nomination.
Wake up people. She wants five debates right now. Candidates that wants more debates are usually the ones losing. The next seven primaries are Obama’s. The Clinton’s even admitted it. They know Obama will continue his momentum. Their hoping Texas and Ohio will help them. With the next seven primaries going to Obama, things can change for him in March when Texas and Ohio primaries come.. Clinton’s are taking your money knowing they are not going to make it.
Talk about their main guys taking no checks for the month. Do you know their top guy makes 5 mil a year? Sure he’s hurting.
Wake up people!!!!!!
Wake up people. This is just another Clinton ploy to get her own way. They have already debated 18 times and if you haven’t made up your mind yet, then you really have not been following the campaign. Debating does not cost her one cent, but advertisements do. And, cudos to Obama for not letting her tell him what to do. And…..as far as debating John McCain - my 10 year old grandson could do it.
Hope
“Hope is not a strategy”
Maybe Hillary will want to think twice before she says this again.
I hope we can raise enough money to continue.
I hope I will be able to pay my staff.
I hope I can get people to support me.
I hope that I can stop this enormous movement crossing America.
I hope my health care plan isn’t a failure once again.
She may not think it’s a strategy, but I bet she is looking for a lot of it right now.
Mike, she’s raised 4 million in 1 day. She’s asking for 6 in 3, but it’s likely she’ll get around $8 million in 3 days.
The staff was not asked to take cuts, they took them themselves.
She’s gotten over half the vote to support her.
The movement hasn’t won yet.
Who knows if it will fail, but boy is it a good plan.
So out of your post, none of them are really anything substantive. I guess you’re still reeling from Romney’s loss.
I, personally, greatly respect all three of the current front-runners in both races. Obama, Clinton are great choices for Democrats, and McCain is the best choice for Republicans.
Democrats have an embarrassment of riches for November. Republicans just have an embarrassment.
Well if we just up and quit in iraq and afghanistan what’d that say about us? The defense budget is about 5% of the total budget. Over 90% of the budget goes to entitlement programs.
You all want to lay back and let the government tell you what’s in your best health care interest? You take no responsibility for yourselves? Can you not see how everytime you relinquish a piece of your personal responsibility a piece of you constitutional freedom slips away?
How can this be? How is that course beneficial to us?
